Extracorporeal Experience Thursday GO
Alright humans of all sorts, we're at chapter 3, let's see what's going on!
Well, AND FOR GOOD RE- Holmes? Why is that man vibrating in excitement?
Oh well, Holmes always was a rather queer fellow. NOW MORTIMER! Answer my quiz!
Oh yeah so... big doggo?
yep. big-big doggo.
HOLMES! Don't be so very interested, snap out of the case, remember social niceties. Geez, next time you'll tell a poor chap accused of murder that his situation is 'so very gratifying', AH!
Holmes SO WANTS to study Mortimer under a microscope!
And drama, of course comes natural to such a man as he is.
So, do we call the Mistery Inc or are we able to pull it off? even if Mortimer is thinking oh-so-loudly that it's demonic stuff?
... you are not a modest man, we know, and we know the reasons. BUT GOD'S SAKE HOLMES!
This man's hilarious, i SWEAR. BUT HE'S NOT A GHOSTBUSTER! so
How can Holmes be of help? Man likes the case!
Allow an italian a moment to bemoan out lack of punctuality in public transport... And back online! Some gossip and inheritance-legal stuff follows, family lines and so on...
HOLMES! Have a care!
You can't just go on dismissing the man's worries this way, god's sake!
But the local devil's terribly funny to think about, lol.
See? Mortimer got QUITE a bit distressed by that!
W: Don't worry, Dr Mortimer, he's just like this, but he does care.
NOW you've got your job, Mortimer, (shirtcuff note mention), Leave. Me. To. Mine. -cackles madly-
You're going out John?
Now. Holmes is already vibrating from happy case chemicals, And has asked very prettily his Watson for some tobacco. For FAR TOO MUCH tobacco.
H: You'll be out all day, dear? Have fun, we'll compare notes later. W: Sure. Have fun too, darling.
You leave your husband with a 'i love you' and you're sure to return to a livable house, of course. And then...
COUGH COUGH COUGH HOLMES!!!
Always like this! It's INTOLERABLE! DON'T YOU TRY THAT!
H: -deductions- W: DON'T. I'm trying to be annoyed at you. -kissy- Insufferable. H. Deduce me now, Watson?
Okay, i don't want to know or even imagine what sort of cocktail of drugs was in Holmes' bloodstream. Sure too much nicotine and caffeine.
He vibrated himself to Devonshire and back. Alright. So normal.
Just as much as this super normal cat behavior. Another couple of years and he'll buy a trunk to think into it. And poor Watson will have to lure him out of that.
Also, it's not concentration, Holmes. It's carbon dioxide intoxication.
I don't want to think to the desperate scream of his joints either, as a person who often keeps the same cross-legged positions for hours on end as they study.
NOW WATSON. What are your own thoughts about the case?
Well well... Interesting thoughts Holmes... Very interesting.
But now, Watson, let's take this out of our heads! -Watson is discreetly re-opening the windows- First a serenade... and then Will you help a detective to have no thought at all?
We'll know of the conversation with Sir Henry in the next episode! And remember the yaoi goggles!
#YES I LEARNT HOW TO MAKE GIFS!#Muahahah now i'm unstoppable#jeremy brett#unnecessarily handsome#edward hardwicke#the dark side with kind eyes#victorian husbands#asexual falling hard for actors from an 80s show#letters from watson#read with very thick yaoi goggles#because i'm studying materials and hating it#so i must do something i love to unwind#sherlock holmes#john watson

Hi hey hello :) putting the cunt in my user today - the bear fandom rant below
Let me get my notecard.
OKAY SO. There is some fucking bitch going around on anon in TB fandom,
@/anon Here you are scaredy ass bitch ! Have you in 4K📸 I know you reading this 👋
This isn’t the only time. This scaredy ass anon bitch has telling multiple of some of the BIGGEST writers in TBF that they are “copying eachother” to likely just start drama, there is a very slim chance this person is not just a little bitch who doesn’t have the balls to put out their own fics - and is trying to stir the pot on this corner of the internet because they mad they aren’t sitting with the fucking ‘cool kids of the bear Carmy Berzatto fan fiction’ club’ via tumblr - LIKE😭🤣
that is genuinely how pathetic this person is we are literally in a tiny niche fandom and this fuckin JAGOFF. THATS RIGHT. BITCH. YOURE A JAGOFF ANON. COME OFF ANON AND FIGHT LIKE A MAN.
this jagoff is just trying to fucking ruin people’s days- KIDS at that yes legal adults but it’s really really funny how it’s rare for these 19 and 18 year olds you’re attacking JAGOFF are the only ones on this corner of the internet- most of us are 4-5 years older then that if not OLDER. You come for them bc you know they are dealing with shit TEENS FUCKING DEAL WITH so attack them to make them feel more fucking insecure then teenagers already are FUCK YOU someone should fucking spit on you bullying TEENS. You fucking loser.
But let me end my rant with a few last things
Firstly the only rule of fucking requesting from me or my moots for this matter because I don’t want them being accused of fucking COPYING people - is that you do not go asking someone else the same shit. Tweak it. But if you want to ask 10 people the exact same prompt? Leave me out of it because that’s not the kind of work I want to put out.
Second to the anon mentioned, you know exactly who the fuck you are going around calling people bitches in their ask box - if you don’t wanna face me fucking block me. I swear to god babe you don’t want to cross my path. One thing Carmen and I have in common is if I eeever find out who you are (I have eyes and ears everywhere in this fandom! Keep what you’re doing a secret for your own sake) because if I find out lmaooooo babe please. Please come off anon. I will give you a new insecurity that will be with you into your grave.
And third and fucking finally. Can we live? Can we FUCKING LIVVEEEE?! Clap if we should be able to live
Like really and genuinely. This is FAN FUCKING FICTION. unless someone is like quite actually fucking copy pasting word for god damn word OR the authors are openly saying that a specific persons work seems to be a copy of theirs and it bothers them- shut up? Why are you going around and defending people over such stupid shit. We come to tumblr to have fun and get away and write slutty fiction about a fucking Italian chef with anger issues what do you get out of bothering people here. Is your day THAT bad?!
Anyways. CapriCUNT out.

𝐊𝐍𝐈𝐕𝐄𝐒 𝐎𝐔𝐓
trigger warnings apply, adjust as needed.
the police have a few more questions.
how are you doing?
it's lots of this and not knowing what to do next.
you're part of this family.
how you doing, kiddo?
I thought you should have been there.
I was outvoted.
he was so hairy, and I've dated italian guys!
are you leaving?
everyone idolizes their dad, right?
where do you come up with that?
why are we doing all of this again?
I read a tweet about a new yorker article about you.
you're famous!
I know who you are.
I read your profile in the new yorker and I found it delightful.
why are you here?
it's just not the same.
are you baiting me?
that's where the real money is.
this is not how I wanted to have this conversation.
you tell her, or I will.
that's none of your business.
I don't know how this mix-up happened.
please, you don't understand.
I know it will hurt, but it's all for the best.
my mind's made up.
just the thought of lying makes me puke.
I feel like I shouldn't be here.
it makes no damn sense.
we are not breaking tradition on my birthday!
you really love drama, huh?
you wanna do drugs?
you know, this is an interesting and efficient method of murder.
I need to write this down.
listen to me!
I thought I heard something.
what do you want me to do?
you've got to be kidding me.
I keep waiting for the big reveal.
those two things don't even conflate.
don't point at me!
I'm warning you!
financially, I'd like to help you out.
I stayed hoping to speak to you a little bit more.
I trust your kind heart.
how about it, watson?
you do as I say and everything will be just fine, I promise.
sweet beans!
what is this? what's this arrangement?
it's funny you're here at all.
why are you even bothering?
we gotta do this more often.
this might be the best thing that could ever happen to you.
nothing good is ever easy.
eat shit!
what do we have here?
this can't be legal.
you little bitch!
did you know about this?
were you in on this from the beginning?
I totally understand what you must be feeling right now.
okay, seriously though, what the hell?
it's the only thing that makes sense.
[name], tell me everything.
did you just google that?
I suspect foul play.
I don't care if I go to jail.
you've come this far, let me help you go all the way.
you should do whatever you think is right.
I won't let that happen.
how do you know all this stuff?
[name], do you hear me?
do you regret helping me yet?
this is going well.
I feel like I swallowed bees.
I couldn't do this without you.
that was the dumbest car chase of all time.
I don't know what you want.
we have to figure it out, right here, right now.
you did this!
you won't get away with this!
this will tie everything up.
you're not much of a detective, are you?
you make a pretty lousy murderer.
perhaps we deserve each other.
you've always been good to me.
that was certainly not what I was expecting at all.
why did you hire me?
you can't be that crazy.
that's some heavy duty conjecture.
you are guilty of nothing but a few amateur theatrics.
are you back again already?
this is stupid with two o's.
you have not a shred of evidence.
in for a penny, in for a pound.
I knew you were guilty as shit.
don't you come near me!
I'm going to say this just to you.
you think I'm not going to fight to protect my home?
oh shut up!
yeah, I killed them.
what do you got on me?
you'll see just how much hell I can wreak on your life.
I have a feeling you'll follow your heart.

i just want to say i think of your Massimo/ LOVE RIVAL concept at least once a week... Massimo my guy... just here to cause some drama (in a cute sort of a way, no doubt)
Kwoc my beloved you’re officially the second person to show interest in my little raccoon boy which means now I’m legally obligated to write him. In the meantime, I will leave you fun Massimo tidbits.
- Massimo fences HEMA (Historical European Martial Arts), basically XV-XVII century fencing with the big medieval swords. Yes, he does have a lot of jokes about his big sword.
- Despite his cool bad boy look, Massimo is a massive sword nerd. That’s how he got Seiji to tolerate him in the first place, they just bonded immediately over their insane amount of fencing history knowledge; Seiji on olympic/épée fencing and Massimo on his medieval swords and treaties.
- His full name is Massimo Angelo Bongiovanni. Nick keeps referring to him by pasta names (“Rigattoni”, “Linguini”, “Fetuccini”, “Ravioli”).
- Massimo takes a very bold and direct approach to flirting with Seiji, he is not subtle nor is he discrete. He’s also very hands on.
- Nick also keeps referring to HEMA as Hiccup fencing, out of spite. He actually thinks it’s really cool, he just doesn’t like Massimo.
- Nick liked Massimo at first until he started paying all too much attention to Seiji.
- Jesse would like to maul him.
- Nick and Jesse find Massimo’s bold approach to Seiji so offensive, they actually team up to sabotage his attempts.
- Massimo is actually either a Junior or a Senior, haven’t decided yet. I just find it funnier that way.
- Seiji actually finds all his sword facts so fascinating he is willing to overlook all the unnecessary proximity. He assumes it’s an italian thing and moves on with his life.
- Massimo likes to hang out with Seiji even if Seiji isn’t romantically interested in him.
- They all meet in a sort of fencing varieties camp where a bunch of kids from different fencing disciplines are put together so they can learn the other disciplines and get to try the different weapons. I’m not sure if this is a thing that gets done, I made it up for fic reasons.
- Massimo also likes to wake up at the crack of dawn to train, which leads to him sharing the space with Seiji in the mornings. He also keeps trying to get Seiji’s attention so he keeps distracting him, which annoys Dmytro. Dmytro and Massimo’s coach spend most of the camp cussing each other out (very funny to me personally). Massimo has a lot of Romeo and Juliet jokes about himself and Seiji that he finds very funny.
- I was listening to “Rock you like a Hurricane” while drawing this, so that is now his theme song.

do you think vcy would ever have children? i can't decide wether they seem like the type to me, to follow the "nuclear family" standard and so on 🫣 i think they wouldn't even necessarily be married on paper (seeing so many ppl be upset he didn't have a ring on in the cameo made me think about how fans perceive their ending in the drama - do we really need a couple to follow traditional standards to consider them endgame?), when they've already sworn themselves soulmates to each other in so, so many other ways... how would a document even make any difference when their love is something that can't simpy be defined on paper
many thoughts!!! this cameo made me feel so revitalized its insane :D
Oooh. Oooh!
Okay, thank you for posing the question!
I have given this so very much thought, and this is one on which I am very torn. Because, on the one hand...
(More after the cut)
No fucking way
- their jobs would make it nearly impossible for them to be present, participant parents (and what's more, they're both such type A competitive high achievers, if they decided to do anything, even this, they'd both want to be the very best at it)
- as you say, they aren't the type that seem to need specific (or "traditional") things for their relationship to be "real" or "complete" - living together full time, marriage, nor children seem to be something either of them would do just because it's what's done or to make it real between them
- both of them have mommy and daddy issues like fucking crazy and, I would think, would be hugely reluctant to potentially impose what they ingested growing up on a child
- they live lives separate from one another - a separation that is a myriad of things including physical distance (literally thousands of miles apart), sociological and linguistical difference (the entire start of the show is culture shock while deeply Italian Vin struggles mightily with the deep cultural differences between his home and Korea), linguistical differences (the child would grow up missing half their two families' core language), etc., etc.
But, on the other hand...
Hell fucking yes
- all that shit I say above about mommy and daddy issues combined with them being so competitive and egotistical and achievement-oriented and steadfastly of the belief that they would be the best at anything they do? I could see one or both of them* (*more on this in a moment) thinking, "Yeah, but I'm better than that and would actually be great" (her, moreso than him)
- so, without that hurdle, you're left with their jobs being difficult to fit around children - however, as with most Vincenzo and Cha Young issues (the difficulty of making their relationship work with their legal issues, the distance between them, the fully formed and completely separate lives they resume after the show), they have fucking boatloads of money between them for nannies and tutors and schooling, not to mention the support of very powerful people (Directors Ahn and Cho and the security agencies and their connections to Interpol, Vinny's mafia network that would stretch into government and beyond), not to mention huge "villages" around them - literal adopted families)
- turning the "different worlds" thing on its head, any child they had would, benefitted by their endless money and resources to make it happen, grow up a bilingual, worldly, person who could slip with ease from one of their parent's cultures, languages, and worlds to the other's, and you can't tell me the ability to cut and run and never lose a step wouldn't be something both V and CY would find not only appealing but necessary to imbue in someone
- he is madly in love with her and she with him and there is definitely something to be said about the compulsion one feels when partnered like that to create something to leave behind that combines the best in both of you - I'm not saying becoming parents elevates love to something higher or more worthy, nor do I think either of them would think this way, but I could see the both of them having this compulsion
- Vincenzo's job kind of requires it, as archaic and old fashioned as it sounds (but that is very much the mafia) - power comes from family, and once he resolidified his position as capo, it would not be long before the family would be wondering about succession plans, particularly in light of what happened with Paolo usurping Vincenzo when Fabio died - and Vincenzo is both duty- and tradition-bound and it is hardwired into who he is so I can absolutely see him feeling the compulsion to do so if he thought she would want it (he would absolutely forgo it if she did not, of course, and never push it with her because he isn't that way)
- I think there might be long periods where one wants to and doesn't say anything because they assume (and probably rightly so) the other one isn't interested, and I think it would be a good 70/30 that Vinny wants to more often than Cha Young but assumes she doesn't and/or would be hugely cognizant of the disproportionate impact of parenting on women, no matter how committed to doing his part the father is
What do you think, though? I'm so curious on others' feelings about this because there seems to be a very hard schism between "never them, they wouldn’t do it" and "Oh Cassano babies though," while I think it is very, very gray, what they would feel and where things would land.
So I could see it either way, honestly, and I've imagined them landing in both places.
Oddly, anytime I've ever penned anything in this vein, it's not been on purpose (which is a whole other level of out of character behavior for either of them to be so uncautious, but that's another topic altogether), and I think it's because it's hard for me to see them making the decision to do it but feeling like if it were made for them, they'd both be over the moon about it (him, a squinch more than her, and more outwardly so.) I also think they'd have exactly one child, it would absolutely be a girl, and Vincenzo would both think she walks on water and be overprotective to a fault and need Cha Young to tell him to dial it back. And she'd marry Luca's son and it would vex Vinny endlessly.

Unpopular OITNB opinions because I’m bored and procrastinating
I had little to no interest in Taystee and found her outright annoying at times. She was okay in the earlier seasons and my idea of her was that she was good character that I didn’t like due to personal preference. However, in the later season, I felt that she could be irritating, irrational and depressing in an unenjoyable way and that she got far too much screen time for what I considered to be a rather dull plot.
I find it hilarious when people try to complain about people on the show being mean or bad people. Like yes, that’s why 99% of them have landed themselves in prison. The funniest examples of this complaint are when people say that Lorna, someone who grew up Italian-American in New York, could sometimes say racist things or when Flaritza, two girls who probably couldn’t even legally drink before they went to prison and, in Maritza’s case at least, didn’t seem to have parents who cared for them, could sometimes be bitchy and immature. These comments are even funnier when whoever says this then goes on to say that they love Frieda, Carol and Barb.
In my personal opinion, Season 2 was the best season quality-wise but Season 4 was better when it came down to drama and entertainment. Season 3 was actually one of my favourites aside from Alex’s whole paranoid arc and I didn’t really mind the panty storyline. Season 1 was obviously good, if a little slow and boring at first. Season 5 shouldn’t have dragged on for so long, if they were only going to cover three days, although I probably would have enjoyed it if it hadn’t felt so absurd and weird compared to previous seasons. Season 7 was depressing trauma porn from start to finish and Season 6 was dreadful n every single way and a terrible conclusion for the riot.
I felt like the family dynamics became way less cohesive it’s the show progressed and people that had once gotten on perfectly well were suddenly at each other’s throats and vice versa. A good example of this was Spanish Harlem which went from a clearly outlined family where Aleida and Gloria acted as parents, Blanca was not a part of the group and the other four ( Maria, Daya, Maritza and Flaca ) pretty much did whatever Aleida said. Contrast this to Season 4/5 where Aleida leaves but Flaritza and Maria don’t seem to even notice, Gloria just let’s Maria have control over Harlem with no complaints whatsoever, Maria and Maritza seem to be at each other’s throats one second and back to there seemingly rather good Season 2/3 friendship the next, Blanca is suddenly an active member of the group and Gloria only cares about Daya. This faulty dynamic is true for all of the other groups as well, and never gets the chance to recover after they are sent to Max.
I didn’t like how some of the seriously traumatic stuff that happened to some of these characters, especially in Season 4, was never addressed by the show again and seemed to forgotten after the episode ended by both the writers and the character themself. You’re telling me that Maritza was creeped on, forced to eat a live animal, held at gunpoint and repeatedly harassed but she bounced back after throwing up like twice and hugging Flaca. In reality, she would probably take a long while to recover or feel truly comfortable in her own skin again, maybe even experiencing some PTSD, which could have been an interesting storyline to take her character down through Season 5, instead of relegating her back to comedy bits and pop culture references.
That’s all my opinions for now, although I will probably make a Part 2 for this post. Hope you agreed with at least one of my takes and that you don’t want to kill me for some of the things I said.

Closed starter for @lostusagis!
Sonia tried to live her life without regrets, though she couldn't deny that, in that current moment, she regretted her choices just a little.
It wasn't the array of brightly colored foil, plastic, cardboard, and shrink wrap that adorned her shopping basket. No, it was the way all of those packages all but overflowed from up and over the sides. But she couldn't help it: a trolley had seemed rather excessive for one person. Yet she hadn't been able to resist: a fully legal adult studying abroad in Japan came with certain privileges that being a Hope's Peak student hadn't. Perhaps the most prominent being slightly more lax security and the freedom to not reside in school dormitories, but her family's penthouse condo in Tokyo's Aoyama district was fully staffed with several rotating chefs, plenty of fresh produce, and detailed meal plans to keep the Princess of Novoselic at the pinnacle of health during her Japanese semester abroad from the University of Oxford.
What that state-of-the-art kitchen didn't have, though, was even the slightest crumb of junk food. Not that Sonia believed in snacking between meals most of the time, but there was something to indulging in an excellent horror movie, or anime series, or a gripping Japanese romantic drama with a cup of instant noodles, or a bag of individually-wrapped KitKats, or pizza flavored potato chips.
Therefore, she'd taken it upon herself to embark upon a visit to the supermarket. With its bright lights, neat displays, and a bevy of products available, she'd reached for a basket, bypassed most of the fresh produce, meat, and seafood (she stopped to select packages of strawberries and grapes, each one nearly 1500 yen each), and walked up and down the aisles, picking up a variety of products mostly branded with anime characters from toothpaste to sheet masks, before settling on her chosen destination.
The snack food aisles.
Aisles, plural, as sweet and salty were divided up between two different ones, with soft drinks and prepackaged meals rounding out the list. She played a real life game of Tetris, fitting the various bottles, bags, packets, boxes, and even plastic clamshell containers of chicken karaage and layered sponge cake, into the basket to the best of her ability.
Still, it teetered precariously in her hand as she reached up on her tiptoes, her other hand just grazing the top shelf. Even her modest high-heeled shoes didn't help her reach the bottles of melon soda she desired. "Just...a bit more...!" She murmured in Japanese. She found herself, even whilst on her own, preferring to speak the native language as opposed to Novoselic's primary languages of French and Italian, and the other thirty plus languages she could read, write, and speak to some degree of fluency. It left little room for confusion as to if the blonde-haired, blue-eyed, foreign girl was simply a naive tourist who didn't understand Japanese beyond 'ohayo gozaimasu' and 'anime.' She didn't have a choice being gossiped about as a princess, but she wanted to minimize unkind words said about her as a person simply due to her ethnicity.
Sonia sighed, lowering her heels and her basket to the ground. "If only it was on the shelf below," She muttered. It was terribly unfair: melon soda, like most of the contents of her basket, were rare finds in both England and Novoselic save for a few specialty stores focused on Japanese and Asian products.
#Non-Despair AU: University verse#lostusagis#(I hope this works as a starter!)#(The pizza flavored Cal.bee chips are very tasty)#(Sonia made good if unhealthy choices here)#(She has fruit it will count as a balanced meal somehow)

Review: We Could Be So Good by Cat Sebastian
Rating: 4/5 Stars
Genre(s): Romance, period drama (The setting is 1950s New York)
Tropes: Friends to lovers, slow burn, found family
Rep: Gay Italian-American MC, bisexual and autistic love interest (It’s never directly stated that Andy is autistic, but it is made very, very clear that he is)
My Thoughts: This book, you guys. I love it so, so much. It was such a gentle, comforting read, like a cup of hot cocoa on a cold morning, and so very domestic.
The main thing I liked about this book was the domesticity of the relationship between Nick and Andy. I loved seeing them just exist together, cooking, shopping, having dinner parties with their friends, and even adopting a stray cat, and from the moment Andy moved into Nick’s apartment, it truly felt like the two of them were married, but didn’t know it yet. They do know it by halfway mark, however, despite living in a time period where they can’t get married, or even be public about their relationship without risking legal action, but by the end of the novel, all of their friends know that they’re together, and they’ve even built up a network of queer people at work. I also really liked exploring the complex relationships that Nick and Andy had with their families, with Andy being fiercely proud of his mother’s work, even though she was never there for him when she was alive, and his improving relationship with his father, who wasn’t much better in terms of parenting, but he’s one of the first to know, and accept that fact that Andy is in love with Nick, and he bonds with Andy much more as an adult. Meanwhile, Nick is firmly in the closet to everyone in his family, except for his cop brother, who very much does not approve of his sexuality, mainly because it puts his career at risk. He agrees to keep Nick’s sexuality, and his relationship with Andy a secret, but it is made very clear that he would prefer for Nick to be with a woman, if only because of his career as a cop being at risk.
Another thing I really liked was the handling of Andy’s relationship with his ex fiancée, Emily. Despite their relationship not working out, she remains very present in Nick and Andy’s lives, and there’s never any animosity between them. She, Nick, and Andy become genuine friends, and she’s arguably the most supportive of their relationship in their circle of friends.
Overall, this was a great read, and I would highly recommend it. If domestic gay fluff is what you’re into, this one is for you

omg the ask game is so cute 🥺 how aboutttttt 🙏 and 🌍 ?!!!
🙏 something i'd like to see happen that's relatively unlikely:
so as a brit i'm always believing in geraint thomas 🫡🇬🇧 and Pidders but G's 2018 Tour took me right back to Wiggo 2012 and the Olympic-induced all-over sports hype, british cycling being not a joke (tour de yorkshire i miss you so much, tour of britain, london classic, grand departs in the UK we used to be a proper country etc)
he was SO SO close at the giro, if he brings that form this year all it could take is one well placed haybale/spectator with a cardboard sign wishing their grandparents well...... for legal reasons this is a joke!! i don't wish crashes or accidents upon any rider!!
beyond that, i'd be interested to to see a winner of the men's tour who's not one of the big four -- Carapaz, Mas, Simon Yates, perhaps -- and a winner of the women's without the surname Vollering
also Valverde unretiring would be hilarious. movistar announce their new signing Valejandro Alverde and he rides the vuelta
🌍 only watching races from one country
🇮🇹🇮🇹🚴VIVAA ITALIAAA 🇮🇹🍕🍝🚴
as much as i love the brutality of the belgian classics and of course the endless storied traditions of france, nothing hits the spot quite like the romance of a great italian road race.
Lombardia and Tirreno (how could i not adore the trident 🔱), the majesty of Milano-Sanremo (aka La Classicissima) having the best half-hour of racing all season (after the 250ish km it takes to get to the Poggio), the brutal climbs and drama of the Giro balanced by the STUNNING landscapes, and of course the fast-approaching dusty white roads of Strade.
so if i had to choose only one nation's cycling races you'd find me relaxing with a glass of finest pinot grigio (or some gelato) while the peloton speed along some beautiful Almalfi coastline or up some hellish Apennine slope
early season ask game

Benvenuto, welcome.
Here is the lay of the land. Please read:
TLDR: Admin is a legal adult. Blog will contain NSFW content, so no minors please (MDNI). Hateful behavior is not tolerated.
More guidelines below.
Detail from Masaccio’s “Holy Trinity” [Inscription: IO FUI GIA QUEL CHE VOI SIETE, E QUEL CH’ IO SONO VOI ANCOR SARETE]
Admin is over 20.
Some content here will get a little nasty and NSFW. I ask minors not to engage with this blog. I’ve seen multiple people try to be slick and sneak in, or just flat-out ignore this rule. I’m not comfortable with underage people seeing it get freaky in here, so if I find out you’re a minor you will be blocked.
I feel like this goes without saying, but just to be clear– I refuse to engage with hate speech, discrimination, harassment, right-wing ideology, or anything else along that line. End of discussion. [Edit: I support a free Palestine, Sudan, Ukraine, etc. Foreign occupation/colonization/genocide must be stopped worldwide!]
I also thought that this went without saying, but apparently I need to clarify it to some people. If you’re a zoophile (bestiality), MAP (pedophile), etc… For the love of god, don’t follow me. It doesn’t matter if you’re “anti-contact” or whatever else. I don’t care what anyone is into sexually as long as it isn’t illegal– these categories are illegal, and they are illegal for a reason. They are not kinks, they are serious psychological issues. There is a difference. I genuinely encourage you to seek help if you have any of these tendencies.
Please don't send me anything serious: I'm not here to give drastic life or health advice, and I'm definitely not qualified to do so. I can give you encouragement or tips, absolutely! Go right ahead, I don’t mind it at all. But if you need serious help, please talk to a doctor, your family, or another trustworthy person in your life. I’m just some person on the internet– I’m not able to fully help you in the way that you would need. I don't take myself too seriously, and I encourage you all to do the same.
Please don't ask me to weigh in on any controversies within the Ghost fan base. (Or controversies in general.) I don't know anything about the majority of Ghost drama, and frankly, I don't really care. I will address situations on my own terms if I want/need to, but for the most part I’m staying out of it. I don’t like participating in that kind of stuff. I'm just here to have a good time and be nice to people.
In short, I’m going to block you if you cross the boundaries I set above, or if you act like an asshole. And if you treat me respectfully, I will treat you with respect in return. It’s that easy!
My grasp of Italian is shaky, and for that I am sorry. Please just pretend that I am not using an online translator.
Grazie, ciao!

headcanon. an assortment of youji hcs i've come up with over the years
japanese mom & italian-american dad. born in the us (new york) but moved to japan (saitama) after his parents divorced. youji was originally his middle name but his mom legally changed it to his first name in hopes it'd help him assimilate better. his mom passed away when he was in high school. his backstory hc should really get its own post but i just kept putting it off fsr so here's the summary.
multilingual. his native languages are japanese & english; fluent in italian (this isn't even a hc this is canon from one of the audio dramas); can do simple conversations in spanish & has basic level knowledge of a bunch of others bc likes to learn new languages.
HOWEVER he doesn't want extra work responsibility so he never told his teammates about it. they think he's a bimbo and he likes it that way. literally hides his study materials underneath stacks of playboy & car magazines.
his cooking abilities is limited to simple pasta dishes. and on that note, he thinks spaghetti napolitan is gross but his mom liked it so he learned how to make it for her birthday.
of course he has a full skincare routine.
also has a special perfume cabinet. and he's given each of his teammates a cologne he thought would suit them for a christmas present bc he's had enough of omi & ken (especially ken) and their axe body sprays.
his dad remarried and has 1 daughter with his new wife (as far as he knows. obv youji couldn't contact them anymore since he's been legally declared dead when he joined kritiker.) his half-sister is around aya's sister's age so when she woke up from her coma and came to live with them he quickly got close to her bc he's kinda. projecting the relationship he wanted to have with his actual sister on her.

Chapter 1
Chapter 2
London, February 1820
"Your ladyship, please come inside. It's snowing."
Christine was startled by the maid's voice. She looked down and saw that, indeed, snowflakes were sprinkling over her hands as well as the rose bushes and the shears she was using to prune them. They melted almost as soon as they touched her skin. She put the shears away, gathered her shawl more closely around her, and went into the warmth of the drawing room.
"Is his lordship back yet?" she asked the maid.
"No, ma'am. He said he'd meet you at the doctor's."
Christine sighed. They were due to meet a sterility specialist that afternoon, one of the many they had consulted over the last eight months. They had tried every herbal remedy, every tonic, every tincture available. They had gone to Bath to take the water and to Brighton to try sea-bathing, and finally, at Dr. Sinclair's recommendation, they had gone to London and visited physician after physician, listening to their treatises on uterine scarring and defects and imbalance, being subjected to one uncomfortable interview after another, filled with indelicate questions and even more indelicate examinations. She doubted this one would be any different. She knew Edward only accompanied her out of love; he had no faith in these doctors, whom he deemed to be greedy quacks trying to make money from others' unhappiness and desperation. She could hardly blame him for not wanting to see another one, especially one who demanded that they came to him, instead of allowing them to consult him in the privacy of their own home.
At least they could afford the privacy. Christine smiled mockingly to herself when she imagined what her mother would think about having a parade of doctors in and out of her house. But a year ago, during a trip to Naples with her friend Lady Harrington, Mrs. Connyngham had, against all odds, caught the eye of an Italian man. He was untitled but wealthy enough and seemed to dote on her, which greatly made up for any lack of peerage in Mrs. Connyngham's eyes. She had decided to make Naples her permanent home, giving Edward and Christine the use of her townhouse in Hanover Square. Though, to be fair, the house was in Edward's name, considering he had been paying its rent. Still, Christine's relationship with her mother had improved a great deal now that there were over a thousand miles between them.
Later, as the cab rattled toward the specialist's office, Christine couldn't help feeling slightly hurt that Edward wasn't there to accompany her. London had been in chaos since the passing of the late king just two weeks before, and there was a sense of unease on the damp, foggy streets. There seemed to be more police officers mingling about, recognizable by their red waistcoats and tall stovepipe hats. A group of laborers congregating on the curb was roughly broken up by a constable. There was hostility and fear on people's faces, and the usual noises of the city had a threatening note to them.
Christine sighed again and wished she hadn't let Edward convince her to stay in London. In the immediate days after the loss of their son, they had found comfort in grieving with each other, but in the months that followed, the comfort wore off. It became painful to be around each other and be reminded of what they could have had. So Edward had started going out more, focusing more on his charity work. Christine had encouraged it at first, thinking it would benefit him to find other things to engage his time, knowing she was not the best company when melancholy had her in its grips. That was when he decided to spend the summer in London. It would be more convenient for them to seek treatment and allow him to become more involved with reform efforts. For a while, he seemed to have found a new sense of purpose, brimming with ideas, looking as excited as he had back when he'd just started the school in their village, in the early days of their marriage.
Then the riot in Manchester, labeled "the Peterloo massacre" by newspapers for its bloody conclusion, occurred, followed shortly by the passing of the Six Acts. Christine, who did not follow politics at all, was alarmed the day Edward came home with a thunderous expression, some newspaper clutched in his hand. "Is something the matter?" she asked.
"This," he said, tossing the paper onto the table. The headline "SIX ACTS PASSED" jumped out at her, followed by the cartoon of a chained and gagged man wearing tattered clothes. She picked it up and scanned the article.
"Read the third one, the Seditious Meetings Act," Edward told her.
"Any parties wishing to meet for consideration of subjects connected with church or state should notify their intention by a requisition signed by seven householders, and it should be illegal for any person not usually inhabiting the place where it was called, to attend," Christine read. "Every meeting for radical reform is an overt act of treasonable conspiracy against the King and his government." She looked up at Edward. "What does this mean?"
"It means we are losing our freedom," Edward said grimly.
His mood had changed after that. On the rare occasion that she accompanied him to the drawing rooms of the Hargrove sisters and their friends, Christine could hear him ranting and raving against the Six Acts to everyone and anyone that would listen. And he still went to meetings, despite the harsh law now restricting them. Just that morning, he had gone to meet with the Hargrove sisters to discuss the organization of a free day school in Whitechapel. Christine had nothing against Miss Beatrice and Miss Minerva Hargrove, though she had found them rather intimidating upon first meeting. In their fifties, they had seen too much of the world to care what others thought of them, and quietly but undauntedly, they went about making changes wherever they could, regardless of the law. Christine knew it was unfair and unjust that their charity work, aimed solely at bettering the lives of less fortunate women and children, could now be seen as seditious. She was even glad that Edward had found solace in working with them, whereas she herself couldn't. She merely wished he didn't have to endanger himself while doing so.
She knew this was selfish of her and felt ashamed. There were others who had been through much greater tragedies than the loss of a child, and yet others whose loss of a child had been much more tragic than hers - just look at the Hoppers, whose only son was cut down in his prime in a senseless war. And her husband was out there, helping them. If only he could find a way to help her as well...
***
Christine was ushered into the specialist's consulting room by a maid. The specialist, Dr. Brenner, with his pure silver hair, black eyebrows, and unlined face, looked more like a stage actor than a physician. He glanced at her card and stood up to greet her with a little condescending smile, and Christine immediately knew this would turn out to be another humiliating experience.
"Will Lord Hurstfield be joining us, your ladyship?" he asked.
"I hope so," Christine replied, though without conviction.
"His lordship has been busy, I've heard," Brenner said, smiling thinly. Christine's irritation rose, though she didn't know if it was with the specialist or Edward. Edward had always been vocal about his beliefs, but sometimes, he could be too vocal. He forgot that for all of its largeness and its crowds, London society could feel like a small town, tight-knit and full of gossip. For once, she was glad Edward was not with her. He would not hold his tongue in front of this man.
"My husband's charity work is very important to him," she said.
"Shall we wait for him then?"
"I don't see why, unless you wish to examine as well," Christine said, keeping her voice even. The specialist's smile wavered slightly.
"I can assure you, your ladyship, there is no need for a physical examination," he said. "I do not subscribe to the newfangled, and frankly immoral, notion of some of my colleagues that they need to be intimately familiar with a patient's body to treat them." Then how do you expect to know what's ailing them? Christine thought but said nothing. "These notes from your personal physician will suffice."
He looked over the notes from Dr. Sinclair with a theatrical air, and regarded Christine for a long moment. "I do believe, your ladyship, that your struggle to conceive has less to do with physical issues and more with mental ones," he announced.
"Oh?" She had heard that before.
"The scarring from your stillbirth, as described by your personal physician, should heal by now. And if there is no problem in your marital relations—"
"There isn't," Christine said, her face turning pink. And it was true, at least in the physical sense, though it had taken them months to be intimate again. But she wasn't going to tell this pompous little man that.
"Well, then, it is as I suspect," Brenner said, putting Dr. Sinclair's notes aside. "It appears you are prone to melancholy and hysteria."
Christine knew Dr. Sinclair's notes didn't say that. What they did say, however, was that she had once had a brush with death after ingesting arsenic in a moment of despair and madness. Brenner had simply drawn his own conclusion from that.
"You often take long walks or go horse-riding, do you not?" he asked. It was the first question he'd asked her.
"I thought exercises were good for one's health," Christine said, confused.
"But such restless activity, my lady, is detrimental to your ability to conceive. I can prescribe you some calming tonic, but it is essential that you stay away from any sort of excitement. Keep to your home and your feminine roles."
Christine was losing her patience now. "I am here for your medical advice, doctor," she said, "not to have you tell me how to live my life."
"This is my medical advice. It is well known that a woman's neglect of her calling goes hand in hand with sterility. All those women, running around in the name of good causes and demanding equal rights, willfully rejecting their duties..."
"What duties?" she asked, raising her voice. "How could I fulfill them if I have no child to raise, to care for?"
"You have your husband, and it appears he is more interested in helping other women than helping his own wife," Brenner said coldly.
Christine stared at him, too angry to speak. Finally, she stood up. "I think it is you that are neglecting your duties, doctor. You are not my spiritual guidance, or my father, or my brother. Your duties are to treat my physical ailments. If you refuse to do so, then I must take my business elsewhere. Good day."
She turned on her heel and almost ran into Edward, who burst in at that very moment, his hair wild, his cravat askew, followed by the flustered-looking maid. "Apologies for my late arrival," he said. "What's happened?" he asked, looking from Christine's furious face to Brenner's indignant one.
"Nothing. We are leaving," Christine said, pulling him along.
***
It was only when they were in the relative privacy of the hackney cab that Christine unleashed her fury on Edward. "Where were you?!" she hissed.
"I'm so sorry. The meeting ran later than I thought..."
"I've never been so humiliated in my life!"
"What did he say to you?"
"He didn't ask me a thing. He simply decided, after one look at me, that he knew all about me, all about our life. He blamed me for being restless, for not keeping you at home so you could impregnate me—"
"He what?!"
"Not in so many words, but the implication was clear."
"Of all the impertinent—"
Edward half-rose from his seat to stop the cab, but Christine pushed him back. "What are you intending to do, challenge him to a duel for insulting me?" she said, exasperated. Edward opened his mouth to speak, then decided against it and sat down apologetically.
Suddenly Christine felt as if all her strength was drained out of her. She slumped against her husband. He wrapped his arm around her, and she snuggled closer to him. "I'm tired of it, Edward," she said. "Tired of doctors and their probing and prodding, tired of all the medicines and potions. Let us go home."
Edward didn't answer, and she glanced up at him. He was looking out the cab's window, his brow furrowed in thoughts. "Edward?"
He turned back to her with a quick smile. "Yes, dear?"
Suspicion immediately reared its head in Christine's mind. Edward never called her dear, except when he had something to hide. But she knew better than to ask. He would always tell her of his own volition in a day or two.
"Let us go home," she repeated.
"We are going home."
"No, I mean home to Yorkshire. To Hurstfield."
His face was unchanged, but the arm around her shoulder stiffened slightly.
"I know you still have a lot of work here," she said. "But we can go home, can't we?"
"Of course. Give me a week or so to make sure the school is set up and the Misses Hargrove can continue without me, and we'll go home."
"Thank you," Christine said and leaned back against him. But his arm remained rigid, and he kept his eyes out the window.
***
Edward remained distracted over dinner. Though she tried not to let Dr. Brenner's judgmental words affect her, Christine couldn't stop herself from mulling over them as she watched Edward across the table. He did look more wearied than she'd remember, his hair tangled, his eyes dimmed and sunken, and she felt a pang in her heart. Had she been too focused on her own grief and neglecting her husband's?
Later, she found him in the study, going over their account books. Back in Yorkshire, where the estate was much more vast and difficult to run, the accounts were the domain of Edward and his steward, but here in London, he left the running of the household to Christine, so she was surprised to find him looking at them. "What are you looking for?" she asked, eager to be of help.
Edward jumped and hastened to put the book down. "Oh, uh, nothing in particular. Just want to make sure the accounts are in order before we go home, that's all."
"I can do that, you know."
"Yes, but you've had a trying day."
Christine lingered by the desk, rearranging the already neat papers and quills and inkstand. "Edward, what would happen if we could never have another child?" eventually she asked.
Edward gazed at her for a moment, then reached for her hand and pulled her down on his lap. "We've been over this matter before, Christine," he said. "It is of no importance to me."
She wrapped her arms around his neck and pressed her face into his chest. How comfortable and safe it was to sit like this, in his arms and with his lips on her hair. If only that was enough to chase away all the pain and the doubt. "But what about your inheritance?" she asked. They had gotten married so that Edward could inherit from his great aunt, whose will stipulated that he must have a wife and produce an heir.
"I rather hope that you would want to have children with me because you're madly in love with me, not because you're worried about the inheritance," Edward said, glancing down at her with a twinkle in his eyes. But upon seeing Christine's beseeching look, he sobered up. "I'd give it back, if it came to that," he said.
She was stunned. "You would?"
"Yes. Hurstfield is prosperous now, we can afford it." He kissed her forehead. "I married you for you, remember?"
"I thought you married me to secure your inheritance," she teased.
"Well, that was a nice bonus too." He smiled, sliding his lips down her cheek to her mouth, and for a moment, while she kissed him back, it was as if nothing had changed between them. Then the kiss became more pressing, more eager, and his hand started moving under her wrap, under her nightgown, and Christine tensed up, not from anticipation, but apprehension. Though it had been nearly two years, she still remembered the pain all too well - the pain in her body, and the pain in her heart. Involuntarily, she turned her head to the side.
"Is—is everything all right?" Edward asked.
"Everything is fine," she said, reaching up to caress his face. "Let us go to bed."
He leaned down to kiss her again. Then, putting his arms under her, he picked her up and carried her to their bedroom, his lips never leaving hers. As he put her down on the bed, she forced herself to focus on the kiss, on him, his soft lips, his hair entwined in her fingers, his familiar smell, his warm hands touching her in all the places he knew she liked. But her mind kept wandering. Every time they made love now, she both hoped and feared it might result in a child. Perhaps it would this time, this time, or this time. But what if it did result in a child? Could she carry that child to term? What if the child died as well? Could they face that pain once more?
She tried not to flinch when he slid into her, but Edward must have noticed and paused. "Are you—" he said, his face wavering above hers. "We don't have to—if you're not..."
"No." As much as she feared a pregnancy, her desire for it was stronger. She wrapped her legs around his waist, pulling him closer. "Don't stop." They couldn't afford to stop.
She kissed him, trying to sweeten the act, but it didn't help much. She wasn't sure if this could be called lovemaking. There was something mechanical about it, two people having become so familiar with each other that there was no longer any newness or excitement to their touches. Before, she had taken comfort in that familiarity. Now it felt almost... dreary.
A coolness on her skin lifted her out of her reverie, and she realized Edward had withdrawn from her. She didn't even know when he had finished. Now he was sitting up, looking at her. The flickering flame of the candle kept his face half in shadow, so she couldn't fully make out his expression. There was sadness there, and something else too. Guilt? Disappointment? With her or with himself? She couldn't tell.
"I'm sorry," he whispered. He brushed his lips over her temple, before blowing out the candle and lying down with his back to her.
***
When Christine's breath had steadied, Edward gently turned around so he could watch her in her sleep. She looked so fragile, with her hands inert on the counterpane, the bruised lids covering her eyes, the fine lines of pain etched on her forehead and at the corners of her eyes like cobwebs, lines that a thousand kisses and touches could never erase. There was so much he wished he could tell her, so much he wanted to share with her. It had been on the tip of his tongue when they left the specialist's office, but then he had seen the way she'd covered her pale face, the way her hands had shaken with futile rage and exhaustion, and the words had died before they could reach his lips. He had always prided himself on being truthful in his marriage, but this was one truth he couldn't burden her with. She had been through enough. No. This trouble was his to bear alone, and bear it he would.

A/N: No, this Dr. Brenner is not the same Brenner in canon. Some other ST characters (or, rather, their Regency equivalents) are going to show up later, but in this case, I just ran out of names :))
