I saw this was okay so I'm shooting my shot lol- are you from the UK ?
It might be weird but I like to know from which country people are so I have a rough idea of if they are awake at the same time as me or if I have to wait for nighttime when I want to talk, but I'm too scared to ask so I just try to guess with hints, for exemple you posted what time it was and it was one hour less than for me, and you wrote "coloUring book" so I just guessed UK ?? :')
Anyway hope it's not weird (I'm not gonna try and find your house lmao dw dw)
Doxxed by spelling dammit 😔
lol just kidding you're good, I am on UK time! But I'm also on a horrible sleep and/or work schedule so when I'm awake remains a mystery lol

She’d be correct in assessing him as a ‘himbo,’ considering that he didn’t always think before he did anything… and even if he did think, it sometimes wasn’t the most logically sound. It was like most of his IQ points went into sports and athleticism. He had this idea that she could pay for his burgers and he’d pay for hers, but realized the errors of his thought process when she spoke.
Tumblr media
“Ah! Uh… I meant to say I’ll treat next time!”
Nice save, Mizumachi. Totally believable and sound reasoning. That’ll work, right? She can pay this time around and he can pay for the next time! That way he can return the favor because she also made some breakfast for him that other time. Hm?
“Let’s go! Say, do you like feeding people?”
He keeps pace with her as she walks them to the promised burger land- or rather, truck. If he had a nickle for each time she’d fed him, he’d have two nickles. It wasn’t a lot, but it was interesting how it happened twice already in the time they’ve known each other.
Selling Japanese burgers already would have him sold. Wakwak burger was going to have a new regular customer who was craving a reminiscent taste of home, no doubt. With how hungry he was feeling, somewhere close was definitely for the better, he’ll get to eat sooner!
“Ah… I could eat 5, yeah. Some days I could eat 10. Depends on how hungry I am. I eat a lot after practice.”
Which was to say that he didn’t gorge himself on food before practice, because it would only slow him down if he pigged out on food. It was better for him to make up for the calories lost during practice by eating his fill on food afterwards.
“How about you? 1? 2?”
Seemed like a safe conservative guess for how many burgers she could eat in a single sitting. It seemed pretty fun trying to guess how much she could eat.
Of course, Vivian waits for him to finish speaking first before blinking, rather dumbfounded. Ah... were her words somehow lost in translation, she wonders? No sooner does she realize this, she'll then subsequently grimace before letting out a weak chuckle, because when it came down to it, she had completely forgotten Mizumachi happened to be quite the himbo... for better or for worse. Why, if it weren't for the fact Vivian already knew English wasn't his first language, she may find herself growing flustered over having the compliment redirected back at her, but coming from his lips, it did not sound the very least bit sexy.
Tumblr media
"Er... listen, when I say 'treat', I meant I'll be the one footing the entire bill; in other words, your burgers will be paid for by me," Vivian finally clarifies while resisting the urge to add 'Capiche?' at the end. Honestly, the whole entire time, she felt stupid for even having to explain it, but considering this was Mizumachi she's talking about... well, perhaps further simplification was necessary. Regardless, she'll soon turn once she figures out the perfect place to take him.
"Now, come! We have a food truck to go to," Vivian announces, and upon giving Mizumachi one final peek peek over her shoulder, makes a beckoning motion with her hand before setting off. Naturally, she planned on taking him to Wakwak Burger, a food truck in Vancouver that was known to sell Japanese burgers for the very affordable price of $2.85. Granted, after recently selling off her old Miku figurine on eBay, she could afford to take him someplace fancier, but seeing as though Wakwak Burger was way closer to where they were, Vivian concluded Mizumachi would appreciate her choosing a place within walking distance.
"Oh yeah, that reminds me! How many burgers can your black hole of a stomach manage, Kenny? 5? 10?" came her eventual query, because sure enough, it finally dawned on her she has no idea how much Mizumachi could actually eat.

Chapter 9: Don't Let The Bed Bugs Bite
Pairing: Soldier Boy x f!reader, Reader POV
Summary:  When you decided to work with Butcher and his merry band of supe hunters to take down Homelander, you neve expected to be saddled with a sullen, grumpy, jerk like Soldier Boy when the job was done. The more you're around him the more you hate him, but you can't help but wonder, is he really as big a jerk as you think? Reader is a supe with plant powers. This takes place in an AU about a month after the end of The Boys Season 3, in which Butcher has let Soldier Boy continue to work with him on his team.  (I'm real bad at summaries, please forgive me!) Soldier Boy calls the reader "Petals."
Tropes: Enemies to Lovers (Not in this chapter), Slow Burn, Age Difference (Reader is in her 20s), Soft Ben/ Soldier Boy, Protective Ben/Soldier Boy
Word Count: 6.7K
Warnings: I'm going to label this 18+ because Soldier Boy (he's a warning and everyone knows it), swearing, mentions of sex, sexual innuendo, sexual jokes, sexual tension, Nightmare, Mentions of Death, Mentions of Drowning, Mention of Vomiting, SUPER GROSS SUPERPOWER, Reader is really oblivious, and I mean REALLY oblivious. Ben/Soldier Boy might be a little bit OOC.
Note: This is told from Reader's perspective. Any references to the reader is made using you or your. There is minimal use of y/n. I tried my best to proofread, but nobody's perfect. If you don’t like, don’t read, but if you do like, you’re my favorite!
Internal monologue is in italics and is in first person.
A/N: This chapter is just really fluffy and I didn't want to keep it to myself, because it makes me so happy. Well, after the first part at least.

Rain glazed all the sharp edges of the world outside the car, smearing the drops against the windows with a heavy hand. The humid air breathed and iced the glass, but did not disrupt the droplets that raced quickly by, catching and sparkling in the sporadic streetlights along the twisting road.
Your mother was singing softly along to "Nights In White Satin", the haunting melody building with every note, your father's deep baritone weaving with hers to make a wonderful melody in the silence of the night. The smell of rain seeped through the ancient air conditioning, the heady scent of wet earth and clean water filling the cab of your family's car.
You smile to yourself in the backseat, sleepy and content, tracing a single finger against the smudged glass to watch each raindrop race against the fogged glass. You could still taste the chocolate ice cream on the tip of your tongue from the cone your parents have bought you on the way home, your hands and cheeks sticky with the remains. The leather seats of your family car are worn in and soft beneath you from years of family trips all over the United States. There was still a loose marble rolling around back and forth with every gentle rock of the car as it moved smoothly over the wet roads, a comfort when you were a baby and you couldn't sleep and your parents drove around the block to send you into the sweet abyss.
The sharp plunk of rain against the windshield is heavy, but your father reaches to turn up the song on the radio, flicking his eyes to smile at your mother one final time. And as he glances back up he shouts something.
You can't hear what it is, only that when you look out the windshield you see a brilliant flash of white light coming straight for the car and feel the car jerk to the right as your father yanks on the wheel. There's an awful sound of concrete against metal, a high pitched screech that you can't forget followed by the almost inhuman scream of terror that comes from your mother's mouth, as the car breaks through the concrete side of the bridge and goes off the road.
There's an awful moment of weightlessness and when the car hits the water everything goes black.
You jolt upwards out of bed, screaming at the top of your lungs, chest heaving and gasping for air as the memory of water filling your lungs floors your senses. You shudder involuntarily, rocking back and forth as you try to shake off the memory of your parent's death.
No one really knew what happened that night, what the bright light was that you saw or where it came from. The detective said that it had to be lightning, but it hadn't looked like lightning to you. Your parents had drowned inside, but you survived. When the police arrived on the scene of the crash they found you on the bank of the river with the branches of the trees forming a protective cage around you. The back windshield of the car had been completely destroyed, blown inward when the trees along the bank had reached in to pull you out.
You always thought it was funny that somewhere deep down your powers took over, you weren’t  sure if it was when you blacked out or if you somehow forgot what happened in your parent's final moments, but all you knew was that you were alive because you called out for help and the trees answered.
A part of you still felt guilty. It had been your fault that you were out. There was a music recital at school, they'd come to support you, Darren had stayed home too busy doing homework to care. He was taking courses at the local community college, too involved in his own life to pay any attention to yours, except when he needed you. You weren't sure why the trees hadn't saved them too, why you were the only survivor.
You reach for your bedside table, scrambling in the darkness to find the inhaler that usually helps, before finally putting it to your lips and taking in a long puff.  It helps for a moment. Your heart was still beating fast, a cold sweat making your sleep shirt stick to your back, as another involuntary shudder works through your body, the sound of your mother's scream ringing in your ears.
You press your face into your knees trying to calm your breathing when your bedroom door snaps in half. Pieces of the door shoot through the air like shrapnel as Ben appears in the doorway, shirtless, wearing only a pair of black sweatpants holding one of the lamps from your living room.
"Ben what the fuck?" You scream, heart already feeling like it was going to burst out of your chest.
"What happened? What's going on? Why did you scream?" He shouts back, eyes darting around the room as if looking for invisible intruders.
"Get out of my room!" You shout.
"Not until you tell me what's going on." Ben's eyes fall on you once more and you watch the tension in his shoulders drop an inch. "Are you okay?"
"Yes." You lie taking in a deep breath, hoping that you can calm down your heart beat and that he's not paying attention to that.
He was.
"No, you’re not."
"Yes I am." You didn’t feel like doing this with him, didn’t feel like telling him exactly why you'd just woken up screaming or deal with him teasing you.
It had been a few days since the party and you had been trying your best to make things as normal between the two of you as you could, especially after you'd yelled at him. It had been more awkward the day after, not because of what you said to him, but because of what he yelled at you after the supe got away. He hadn't come back to the apartment until after you'd gone to bed and when you woke up on Sunday morning, Ben had gotten you coffee again when he went out to get a newspaper.
You figured that was his way of apologizing for yelling at you. That and he had insisted on walking to "Please Don't Die" with you on Monday and Tuesday morning, as if he thought that you were incapable of doing it yourself and then showed up when you got out of work at 5 to walk you back home. You didn't know how he figured out what time you got off of work, only that when he showed up to get you on Monday, he glared at Jake who was debating with you about which of Rory Gilmore's love interests was the best.
Jake had watched a few episodes with his younger sister when she visited him a few weeks ago to tour some of the colleges in New York, and she'd gotten him hooked. Annie and you had watched Gilmore Girls forever ago, but you'd started watching a few episodes now that it was fall and that meant you were being reminded of how much you obsessed over the show when you were younger.
Ben had stood there watching the two of you, noticing how close Jake was standing to you and how Jake seemed to smile even wider and how Jake spoke animatedly to you over the display of cactus all the while frowning and glaring daggers in the back of Jake's head.
You'd be lying if you said that you weren't reconsidering dating Jake. Ben had made it clear what he wanted and despite how much you were attracted to him, you knew that he didn't want to be what you wanted, and you didn't want to force Ben into something or try to turn him into something he wasn't. So you were trying to think about what it would be like dating Jake. He definitely had the kind of qualities you were looking for, he was one for relationships, he had the same sense of humor you did, he liked plants almost as much as you, he was kind and compassionate, and he had a warm smile.
The problem was you couldn't imagine what it would be like to date him and for some reason the thought of dating Jake didn't bring you as much joy as it would have a few weeks ago, and you had no idea why that was.
You also didn't know why Ben came to pick you up or forced himself to walk with you to work, especially if he hated Jake so much and hated being around Jake, but Ben did, and then bought you a cup of pineapple iced tea from your favorite shop around the corner from your apartment on the way home even though you insisted on paying for yourself. He thought that pineapple iced tea sounded disgusting, but because you liked proving him wrong, you'd let him have a sip and he'd grudgingly agreed that it wasn't "that bad," but then took another sip of it when you put it down on the kitchen counter for a second to pet Bean when he thought you weren't looking.
Honestly you didn't understand why he was so eager to walk with you to work or why he wanted to walk you back to the apartment. Not when Ben seemed to fill his life and all his time endless dates with the women of New York City, something that you noticed he hadn't done in the past three days since the party. You always figured he had better things to do than walk with you, and yet he had making somewhat pleasant conversation, well, pleasant for Ben which was not the same as pleasant for other people. But it wasn't terrible. He did occasionally tease you because you couldn't walk past a wilting plant without perking it up, but that was to be expected.
"No, you're not." Ben put the lamp down on the floor by your door. It didn’t have it's shade on it anymore and you figured that Ben had ripped it from the living room table when he heard you scream, throwing the shade to the floor when he kicked down your bedroom door.
The same door that was lying in pieces on the hardwood floor of your bedroom.
How am I going to explain that to the super?
"Yes-" You gasp for air and shove the inhaler in your mouth again to take another puff and this time it takes. "I am." You finish, swiping your free hand over your face to rid yourself of the tears, but for some reason they won't stop. "Please, Ben just go-" Your voice breaks for a moment and you bury your face into your knees again.
You really wanted him to go, didn't want to talk to him about this, didn't feel like putting up with his teasing or with his disgusting jokes, and didn't want him to make fun of you for using an inhaler, the same one you'd had prescribed by your doctor when he told you that your nightmares were causing panic attacks. You didn’t have to use it all the time, just when you had the dreams.
You feel the end of your bed dip and you glance up from your knees at Ben. He's sitting there, not quite looking at you, instead he's petting Bean where he was guarding over you as you slept.
"You don't have to talk to me if you don't want to, but I don't want to leave you when you're like this Petals." He says it more to the cat than to you, barely audible. Bean was leaning into Ben's hand as if Ben being in your bedroom, sitting on your bed was normal.
You suddenly feel like you’ve been struck by lightning. What he said was so honest so caring so completely unlike the Ben you knew that all you could do was stare at him. If anything the shock of what he said seemed to help you regulate your breathing and calm down from the images you had just seen in your nightmare.
Ben doesn’t say anything, just continues to rub Bean under his chin, sitting on the end of your bed like it’s the most natural thing in the world and as if he hasn’t said anything at all.
You stare at him for longer than you should, tracing the dips of his broad shoulders, the gentle freckles that graces his skin, and muscles as the taper down his back. You’d seen him shirtless before, but every time you’re unprepared for how good he looks.
Right now he looks, different. He looks softer.
You’re not sure if it’s because of the yellowed light from your bedside table lamp or if it’s because he’s petting Bean, but there's something about him that feels more open, as if he genuinely cares, and it makes you want to talk to him. You sit there for another few minutes calming your breathing, still holding on to your knees, but you prop your chin on your knee so you can look at him.
Why won't he leave? Why does he care so much that he wants to stay here?
Bean stands and saunters up the bed to press his head into your shin as if he's checking up on you. "Hey buddy." You whisper hoarsely, rubbing him behind his ears.
Ben turns his body, folding one of his legs under him and the other hangs off your bed so that his bare foot is sitting on the hardwood floor of your bedroom. He's watching you with an unreadable expression, eyes following the trail of your hand on Bean's back, but Ben does not break the silence.
"I have nightmares sometimes." You whisper. Bean's thick gray fur was falling through your fingertips in a comforting way, his luminous amber colored eyes looking up at you. "But I'm okay."
Ben still doesn't say anything.
The high pitched ring of the metal of the car on concrete makes you wince and he doesn't miss it. You watch his hand twitch as if he wants to touch you, but instead he lays it on the bed between the two of you, sinking into the soft comforter.
"I've never heard you scream like that before." Ben murmurs under his breath. "I thought that-"
You glance up at him, eyes wide.
He runs a hand through his hair nervously, as if he's uncomfortable continuing the conversation. "I thought that the supe was in here with you."
"The electric guy?"
Ben nods once.
"No I don't think he's in here. Unless he's hiding under the bed or something." You smile weakly at the joke, but you can still feel the jolt of the car hitting the water and the sharp snap of the seatbelt cutting into your chest. This time you successfully fight the shudder.
Ben doesn't smile. "The nightmares aren't about him are they? Or when I-" He stops mid sentence eyes flicking away from you, ashamed.
You understood what he was asking. Ben and you, like any modern day meet cute, had met mid-fight, the night that Butcher took him to Vought to take down Homelander. Back then you hadn't been working for Butcher, you'd showed up with Annie, and when Ben advanced on her you'd shoved Annie out of the way from his outstretched hands.
You hadn't been fast enough to escape yourself and he had hauled you up into the air by your throat, his chest glowing a dangerous orange spreading up through his skin until it turned his eyes a molten gold. Your hands had held on to his wrists so tight that you felt like your skin was burning and you were desperately trying to think of a way out of this. But just as you thought he was going to explode, his eyes had locked on yours and you watched something move through them that wasn’t rage. Ben had thrown you across the room and gone after Butcher instead.
"Is that why you didn't want me to move in?" Ben's gaze is on you, something deep buried in his eyes that looks a lot like regret. "Because you're afraid of me? Because I hurt you?”
“Ben, no. I’m not afraid of you.” You touch his hand where it rests on the bed gently. He had hurt you. The bruising around your neck for the few weeks that followed was ugly and had to be covered up with turtlenecks and foundation to avoid people on the street asking you if you needed help.
But it hurt you more to know that he thought that you were afraid of him and that he worried about that. Because you weren’t afraid of Ben. Yes he lost his temper and would yell very loudly and always felt the need to scream his opinion to the world, but you didn’t think that he was a bad guy despite what he had done. If you had been afraid of him then you wouldn’t have let him stay with you in your apartment, let alone live with your cat.
He looks relieved when you say it. “Then what are they about?”
“I-“ You swallow, before dropping your gaze back to your knees. You retract your hand, but Ben turns his over, palm up and gently holds yours, not quite squeezing it, just laying beneath yours.
What in the actual fuck is happening?
You glance down at where he’s holding your hand, the warmth from his body comforting like the first day of summer, seeping through your body as it does to take away the chill the nightmare left behind. It seemed a little awkward for him, as if he wasn't sure what to do now that your hand was laying on top of his. He wasn't even entwining your fingertips together, but your fingers just barely curved over the thick muscle at the base of his thumb. His hand was bigger than yours, rough and worn in just the right places.
“It’s about my parents.” The words feel like cotton in your mouth. “The night they died.”
"Oh."
You bite the inside of your cheek. You weren't sure that you wanted to talk to him about this. You'd never wanted to talk to anyone about it. The only person you'd ever spoken about it with outside of your family was Annie. But he was here, and he was looking at you differently, and he was actually holding your hand, sort of, and he was acting so different than any time you'd spent together.
"I was twelve. It was raining and we were coming home from a music recital." You couldn't remember what it was you sang, just remember the people coming up to congratulate you and the large bundle of gardenias that your parents had bought you. "My dad was driving and they were singing in the front seat together."
You felt the tears begin to build behind your eyes, throat closing. You can't really look up at him now, all you do is stare at where his hand sits under yours. " We were crossing over a bridge and there was this brilliant flash of light, my dad swerved and the car went off the road."
Ben's hand finally curls around yours. "You were in the car?" His voice is lower now, emotion lacing his words.
You nod once. "In the backseat." You whisper. "I can't really remember what happened after we hit the water, all I know is that the trees saved me."
"What?"
"I don't know if I somehow called to them as I was drowning, but they broke through the back windshield and pulled me out of the car, but my parents-" Your voice breaks and you don't try to finish the sentence.
Why am I telling him this? He doesn't care. All he wants is-
"I'm sorry." Ben murmurs, interrupting your chain of thought, sounding sincere.
You shrug. "I'm sorry I woke you up."
Ben raises his free hand to tilt your chin up to face him, and you quickly get lost in the greenish glow that draws you in each time he looks at you. "Don't be sorry for that y/n. I'd rather be wrong and you be okay, than sleep through you screaming like that." Ben swallows. "I didn't like it." You watch the ends of his lips twitch for a second and he smiles. "And we both know how much I like to hear women scream my name.”
Despite the conversation you'd have previously, you snort and smile faintly. "Have you always been like this? Or is it a recent development?"
Ben shrugs, thumb rubbing just barely over your cheekbone. "I like to think of myself as charming."
"Of course you do."
"You don't think I'm charming Petals?"
"Nope."
"Still a bad liar." He laughs releasing your jaw to gently touch the scrunched skin between your eyebrows that gave away your lie.
"I don't really think you're that great at lying either." You roll your eyes, swatting away his hand. "At least I can pretend to like people."
"I can pretend to like people-"
"Oh really? Then what about Jake."
At the mention of Jake's name, Ben frowns.
"See!" You smile wide. "I don't understand why you don't like him."
"He's annoying. No one is that happy Petals. He’s probably been drinking the Koolaid for too long and is trying to get you to join a cult. The pussy is practically part golden retriever." Ben rolls his eyes, but then notices you yawn. "I should go." He stands, letting go of your hand as he does. "You need your beauty sleep."
You fight the disappointment that blooms in your chest as he lets go and the immediate loss that comes when he lets go of you scares you. You're afraid of how you seem to be so attached to him, to someone who has told you countless times he doesn't want a relationship, doesn't believe that you need a strong emotional connection with someone else, and someone who said that the only thing he wanted from a woman was to fuck them.  That last part stung a bit. You remember when he said it to you, when you were looking over the map at the other apartment last week.
But why would he say something like that and act like this with me? Why did he come in here to save me from the supe?
"I think you could use some beauty sleep too Gramps. Without it, you look your age. Can't hide all those wrinkles under make-up." You half-smile when Ben sighs, before you pull your hands into your lap and  cross your legs beneath you. "But, thanks for-well- making sure that no one was murdering me."
"It's what roommates are for." Ben pauses in the doorway before he leaves, the light from the hallway reflecting off the strong muscles of his upper back. His body sways, considering if he should say what he's about to. "I -uh- I get them too." He whispers it.
"What?"
"Nightmares." You see the tension in his shoulders, the word muttered almost like a curse, as if he doesn't really want to admit that.
Your body freezes. "About the lab?"
He looks down and you take that as a yes.
You could only imagine what that was like for him, to be trapped in another country, thinking every day that someone he thought he loved would come find him, but then never did. Again the idea of what Countess did to him, burns hot in your chest. It broke you to think that Ben spent all that time wishing and hoping that she would come for him. You would have. You would have fought tooth and nail to find the man you loved, even if it meant you getting trapped in the process. Not trying wasn't an option in your mind.
Honestly, it was difficult not to come up behind him and hug him, to hold him close and let him know that it was okay to break, that it was okay for him to admit those things with you, and that it didn't make you see him as less than a man. But of course that seemed more like a relationship thing than a friendship thing, not to mention you thought if you tried to do that, Ben would probably somehow get you in the same position you were three days ago when he pinned you against the car with his warm body pressed against you in all the right places and his beard tickling against the sensitive skin of your neck. And that would only send the two of you reeling back to square one, and you thought that in the past three days things seemed to be better between the two of you, more casual and more friendly.
You didn't want to ruin that when you'd practically embarrassed yourself at the party by yelling at Ben outside. So you stay in your bed, your legs still underneath your comforter, your heart no longer pounding in your chest, and your breathing even.
"Well," You say slowly. "If you have one, you know where to find me."
He glances over his shoulder at you, eyes a little wider than usual and you think that he almost looks surprised. Ben nods once and vanishes down the dark hallway going back out to your living room.
You lie back in your bed, placing your inhaler on your bedside before you do, eyes focused on the ceiling and trying not to think about how good it felt to finally talk like two normal people with Ben and trying not to think about how he let you hold on to his hand.
Tumblr media
You drag yourself through the front door of your apartment, exhausted, sweaty, and feeling like you'd swum through a dumpster that had been sitting in the sun for a week. You knew for a fact that you smelled, you didn't need super senses for that. The look of the people that lined the sidewalks of New York while you squished down the sidewalk and up into your apartment building was enough of a clue. Everyone had given you a wide berth and you didn’t blame them. MM even rolled down the window of his car when he drove you back. And he’d made you change your clothes into a set of gym shorts and a t-shirt that reached your knees and proudly proclaimed “I love you daddy” on it.
Yeah. It was that kind of day.
MM also made you sit with a plastic bag over your head to avoid smearing the remnants of the supe that was matted in your hair onto his seats.
When you woke up to answer your phone this morning, that was blasting the UK's national anthem aka. Butcher's ringtone, you knew that your day was going to suck. He had proclaimed over the phone loudly, because Mike had already started to screech Beyonce's "Love On Top,” that he needed you to deal with a supe. You thought that he was going to send you after the electric supe, but no, he and MM had caught a whiff of a supe that was robbing banks with his ability to liquify and turn his body into an tomato colored gelatinous mass.
I know, lovely right?
But of course, Butcher had decided that you were the one for the job and so he sent MM and you, while Ben was assigned to something else on the other side of town. The mission had gone wrong in the worst way, when the supe decided that the only way to fight you was to try and drown you in his liquified flesh, bone, and sinew.
When you'd finally scattered his body in the Hudson, you'd vomited for ten minutes, trying to expel as much of the supe as you could, but you still felt disgusting. MM had tried to be supportive, but the sight of you vomiting sent him hurtling to the nearest trashcan while his own stomach heaved. Not to mention  Butcher had chewed out the both of you good for technically "killing the supe."
But you'd rather the supe died than have to go through that ordeal all over again.
You'd tried to get as much of the orangey-red goo off of your body as possible, but it stained your clothes, so you had to walk through New York city looking like a giant bucket of paint was dropped on you and feeling sticky.
You turn around and lean your forehead against the front door with a loud sigh, trying to catch your bearings before you attempt to make it to the bathroom. You were happy that Mike hadn’t come out of his apartment. You didn’t want to have to explain to him why you looked like you’d taken a bath in tomato soup. Every few minutes you'd get a whiff of yourself and feel the urge to throw up all over again, living in the moment of the supe trying to shove his liquified body down your throat.
"What the fuck happened to you?" Ben asks from the charcoal couch, a blunt perched between his lips.
The living room had already started to look like his bedroom back at the other apartment, pieces of his dirty clothing were spread over your hardwood floors, old beer bottles were sitting on your coffee table, and there was a collection of half-smoked blunts in a large ceramic pot that you were letting Ben use as an ashtray. The room was still yours though. The plants on the walls and in pots around the space had not been harmed by Ben's habitation of your apartment. You wondered if that was because Ben actually was trying to respect your rules or if he was afraid you would throw him out.
I'm going to buy him a hamper. The last thing I want is to step on his dirty underwear on my way into the kitchen.
"The next time Butcher calls, tell him I died." You groan moving into the kitchen to grab a bottle of water.
He turns his head to stare at you. "Is that paint?"
"Nope." You shudder taking a sip from the water bottle, swishing it around your mouth to wash out the taste.
"Then what is it?"
"It's the supe. He was disgusting." You shudder and take another sip of water. It was helping a little bit, but you eat a handful of raspberries to try and get rid of the aftertaste. "I can still taste him."
Ben smirks. "You can still taste him? What part of him did you put in your mouth?"
"Don't be disgusting." You groan. "His power was liquification, okay, he could liquify his entire body-"
"Did you swallow?" He wiggles his eyebrows suggestively.
"This is why we don't talk." You narrow your eyes at Ben. "He liquified himself and tried to drown me by shoving himself down my throat."
"Drown you?" Ben sits up straighter. "Are you okay?" You watch something shift through his gaze that looks a lot like worry.
Why is he worried?
"I'm fine." You hold up a hand and watch him relax and take a hit from the blunt. "But worst superpower ever."
"I don't know, kinda sounds like a fun way to get to know someone-"
"He was an idiot. He thought that whatever he lost would replenish."
"Wait what?"
"Whatever he 'drowned' me with didn't reform on his body. So he shoved himself down my esophagus and then he couldn't figure out why he was missing a hand, didn't think about stomach acid. Idiot." You roll your eyes. "But we couldn't contain him and the only thing that I could think of was to dump him in the Hudson. He wasn't strong enough to keep himself together in the current of the bay, it’s gonna take him centuries to piece himself back together." You shake your head. "What have you been doing? I thought you had a hot Tinder date or whatever."
He'd mentioned it this morning when you saw him briefly and grabbed a granola bar on the way out of the apartment. You hadn't spoke much since last night or really had time to talk about what happened, if anything did happen. All he did was let you hold his hand and -well- kick down your mother fucking door.
You weren't looking forward to sleeping without a door, it was the only thing that separated Ben and you, the only thing that gave you a little privacy. You figured that you could just hang one of the crocheted blankets over the doorway, but you were exhausted.
Ben shrugs, letting out a lungful of smoke. "Thought I'd just relax tonight. Didn't feel like going out."
"You didn't feel like going out? Mr. Casual-?" You begin to say, eyes sweeping through the apartment and looking down the dark hallway, stopping on your bedroom doorway.
Instead of the broken mess it was this morning, a new door has replaced it. It's a beautiful dark red wood that matches the floors that run through your apartment, different than the white one that had been there previously.
"Mr. Casual?" Ben asks while raising an eyebrow, clearly confused.
You were going to call him 'Mr. Casual Sex' but you couldn't finish the thought.  "Did you fix my door?"
"Huh?"
"My door." You point down the hallway, eyes shifting back to Ben, who looks suddenly uncomfortable. "The one you broke in half."
"Yeah- uh- I know how much you like your privacy." Ben grunts looking back at the flat screen tv. There was a baseball game on, but the T.V was on mute, the blue light flickering around the small room.
You suddenly have the overwhelming urge to cry. You figured that it was everything from today crashing down on you, the frustration you had with the supe, the smell, and now Ben was actually doing something nice for you.
“Thank you.”
“You’re welcome.” He still doesn’t look at you and you wonder if he's embarrassed that you pointed it out.
“Well I think I’m going to try to scrub whatever the hell this is off of me.” You say as you begin to walk down the dark hallway and Ben continues to watch the game.
“Wait Petals I’ve got something important to ask you.”
You look up at him expectantly.
“How much do you love your daddy?” His smile slips into a suggestive smirk. “Would you be willing to do anything  to keep him happy?”
“Shut up Gramps.” You flip him off and squish down the hallway to the bathroom.
When you get out of the shower you're missing several layers of skin. You'd scrubbed and scrubbed until you felt red and raw, but it was better than feeling the sticky remains of the supe all over your body. The clothes you wore were ruined and there was no saving them, but at least now you felt better.
You walk back out into the kitchen wearing a soft t-shirt and sweatpants. Ben was still sitting on the couch, but the blunt was gone. You hadn’t noticed before that his dark hair was wet, as if he had taken a shower before you got to the apartment, the smell of his shampoo was strong.
"There's pizza in the fridge." Ben glances over the back of the couch. "Much better Petals, orange is not your color. But I will say I miss the t-shirt.”
"I'm just happy that it didn't permanently stain my skin." You make your way to the fridge to pull out a slice of pizza, eating it slowly. "And very happy I didn't wear my favorite pair of jeans. I'm going to have to burn my clothes I think."
"I'm just happy you smell better." He wrinkles his nose. "Before you smelled like unwashed gym clothes and a fucking yeast infection."
"Thank you for that lovely comparison."
"You're welcome Petals." Ben presses his lips together. "Did you want to-" He pauses. "Watch a movie or something?"
"Oh, um-" You glance down the hallway. You really wanted to curl up with your newest romance novel under your covers and relax, possibly with a cup of calming blueberry tea.
Ben shakes his head. "Just fucking forget it-" He almost seemed angry with himself for suggesting something like that.
"Ben no. I do want to watch a movie with you, I just-" Your eyes flick to the t.v watching one of the baseball players hits a home run. "I kinda wanted to relax with some tea and read. I just got a new book and I haven't been able to start it yet. Annie and I are reading the same one and on Friday we're gonna have book club and I really need to decompress from everything that happened today." You say it gently, trying to let him understand that you wouldn't be opposed to the idea of watching something with him.
"Oh." Ben sits there for a moment considering what you said. "Well, do you want to sit out here? I know you don't exactly-" He clears  his throat. "Have a place to sit in your bedroom."
If Ben wasn’t living with you, you would be reading on the couch. Sitting in your living room surrounded by all of you plants always helped you relax. You hadn’t been able to do that since Ben moved in, not to mention you didn't want to encroach on his space.
“I mean if you’re watching T.V I don’t want to disturb you or anything-“ As soon as you say it, Ben hits the off button on the remote.
“I didn’t get to read the paper this morning and I’ve been trying to find the time all day.” He says, pulling the folded newspaper out from where it was folded and pushed up against the arm of the couch on his right side.
“Oh. Well. Um-“ You didn’t see anything wrong with sitting out here and reading with Ben. “Okay. I’ll just grab my book then.”
“Okay.” Ben breezes, before he glances at the left side of the couch where you would be sitting. The couch was in its upright position, which means it was more couch than bed, but Ben had stacked his blankets and pillows on the other side. “I’ll move my stuff.”
“Okay.” You say again because you weren’t really sure what to say.
You go back and grab the book from your bedside table, but stop just short of the door.
This is weird.
You think to yourself, holding the book tightly by its spine. You weren’t sure what was happening only that Ben and you were going to sit together on the couch in your living room quietly with no tv. And weirder still it was him that suggested you two do it.
He turned off the tv. He asked me to sit with him and suggested something non-sexual. You pause shifting from foot to foot. Because again Ben was confusing you. He was acting like the person you'd occasionally see when it was just the two of you, and it made you anxious. You didn’t want him to do this, to pretend to be someone you wanted just to get into your pants. It was like whiplash. Not to mention you didn't want Ben to force himself to change just for you.
Maybe… Maybe I can just go out there and pretend that this is normal and that he doesn’t just use women for sex like he told me. I will not overthink this. I will sit and read just like I planned.
You come out of your bedroom armed with your favorite crocheted granny-square blanket and the new book. Ben had cleared the left side of the sofa for you as he said he would and was now sitting with his newspaper spread out in front of him, one leg crossed over the other.
“Do you want some tea?” You ask him. You were just being polite, you knew that he would probably say no.
“Pineapple?” He actually kind of perked up as if he would have some if you made it.
“No it’s blueberry.”
Ben shakes his head. “Why do you like so many fruit teas?”
“Because they’re good and they enrich my life.” You snort before placing the book and the blanket on the couch next to Ben and go through the motions of making the tea. “I’ll take that as a no.”
“You’d be right. But could you pour me a glass of scotch?”
“Sure.”
When you’re finally hunkered down with your book and blanket, legs bent at the knee between the two of you, the book propped up on them, facing Ben with the right side of your head laying against the back of the couch, you feel yourself begin to relax. Bean is sleeping in a ball between the two of you. His soft breathing and the sound of pages being turned fills your apartment. The subtle thrum of the plants in the room soaks into your bones and you feel yourself begin to slip into the soft prose and for the first time in a long time you feel at peace.

A/N: Annnnnddddd we're just gonna keep the Sky High References coming. Maybe the next supe they meet will glow… or turn into a guinea pig? 😅 Is it wrong that it's kinda making me want to do a Superhero High School AU with the Boys characters? That would be so crazy! I already have several other series fic ideas for Soldier Boy, but that idea is definitely going on the list to be considered.
As always thank you so much for reading and all the love and support! If you would like to be added to my taglist please let me know! 😊

redacted asmr headcanons pt. 6
-angel definitely has one of those shirts that says ‘angel’ on it
-asher calls baabe sexy on a regular basis
-lasko has a super bad fear of horror films and games (will start crying)
-the pack played fnaf once and all you could hear was screaming from milo, tank, and asher and laughter from angel, sam and sweetheart (david and baabe literally almost fell asleep on each other)
-lovely makes vincent tea and reads to him when he’s sad (*being pouty)
-angel used to have an eating disorder (still reverts to old habits sometimes but is recovered) ((when they struggle with eating, david holds their hand and talks them through it))
-freelancer speaks french and makes fun of damien (in french) for being so poor at it all the time ((damien: "bro shut up?" freelancer: "do you know how to say that in french, huh?")) -(damien and freelancer are so siblings coded)
-darlin’ and sam slow dance around the house all the time (in the kitchen when sam’s cooking, in their bedroom right before they go to sleep, after they wake up, in the hallways etc.)
-freelancer is really good at acting like they’re sad when the boys tease them so they (huxley and dear) feel bad ((they just have to pout once and curl into themselves before huxley is hugging them and making the others apologize)) -(they're the youngest in the group so they get teased a lot)
-sweetheart isn’t particularly known for taking care of themselves and whenever they complain about any health issue they’re having, david is quick to point that out (sweetheart: “my stomach hurts” david: “your stomach hurts because you don’t eat properly at the proper times or-“ sweetheart: “shut the actual fuck up david, I didn’t ask”)
-damien is such a shithead to everyone, even huxley and sometimes he forgets that huxley is shameless when talking back or “returning the energy” to people. damien will poke fun at him and act surprised when huxley starts attacking (tickling) him
-asher has a fear of needles but he got a tattoo in memory of gabe
-sam cried in darlin’s arms for hours after the inversion
-after the inversion, david flat out refused to let asher out of his sight until he was at home safe with his mate (drove him home when they couldn't pick him up, even when asher insisted he could drive himself home)
bonus +
-darlin’ is the only one who calls sam “samuel”
-I just know kody reeks
-at random moments angel and asher would just be like “i can’t wait to get married” with little smitten smiles on their faces even before they got engaged (it’s too cute for anyone to give them shit for it)
-asher's big sister was his favorite person for years (she's tied with david for second favourite after baabe) ((david sees her as the sister he never had)) -(think of asher and madelyn as the "i'm a big dog, i do big dog shit" older/younger sibling audio on tiktok)

Luna, my dear sweet friend, can I pick your brain?
Lofty gave me a veeerrry good scenario for a Time vs Sky conflict, but I'd love to hear your thoughts on what that could look like? I picked 2 very mature characters and now I have to make them brawl lolol
I think the best route (for me at least) wouldn't involve the master sword or Hylia. So this would be a personality conflict. I don't wanna spoil the scenario she gave me, so I thought I'd ask for your general opinion on what you think would make them fight, personality wise🥰
Feel free to delete if you don't care to go over this, but I thought I'd ask cus you're really good at going in depth with character analysis❤️
BYE FRIEND😀 also I hope you're doing well and you're amazing and wonderful❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
YES ok so personality conflicts between Sky and Time. There's... a lot to look at there lol.
So I'm just gonna look at each of their personalities +flaws, and then how they interact :))
Soo for Time
Time is dad. He's older and more experienced- and he's still a stubborn gremlin like all of them. He's patient with them but also stern- he cares very deeply about all the boys and Sky is no exception
Tumblr media
I don't doubt for a second Time wants to be just as close to Sky as the others
One of Times biggest flaws is the idea of a closed mindset. Which makes sense, since we know Time's ending as the hero's shade- he spends years in that mindset of regret. Time has these thoughts of being too old to change (<no), and allows himself to keep holding onto bitterness, especially about the sword. Which he has good reason to be a grumpy old man already, with the mental and physical age difference, but still
Tumblr media
Time is obviously capable of changing his mind- as Wind took a challenge to prove
Tumblr media
But overall Time is still. He's not super expressive, my man likes to just be. He wants to be still and live, and hero as needed, and not be a super crazy hero, but just a chill dude with malon.
Time is patient and stern and calm and good. He is also closed and stubborn. That's all good, but it doesn't always work the best with Sky.
So Sky.
I literally love this ask because I could rant forever about his flaws to talk about them more (no one kill me).
Sky very highly values being a hero as part of who he is- in contrast to time who literally just doesn't want to.
Tumblr media
I see so much of Sky's patience. And with good reason- with others Sky is endlessly patient and calm in resolving conflict. He's emotionally intuitive and intelligent and awesome
Tumblr media
But Sky is also I think extremely impatient. With himself, and with things around him that aren't going well.
He wants answers and he wants them now, which is kind of scary from him. I see a lot about Skys temper, but I don't want to forget how much of that is from impatience- not knowing how to handle things going slow.
Tumblr media
Because things moving fast and violently is how it needs to be right? *cough cough IMPA
For all sky is extremely patient with others feelings, he is one of the most impatient people with himself and his circumstances. Which a lot of comes from immaturity, which is my next point-
Sky is. A monster with pranks. I don't even know why it took me so long to realise this was Sky-
Tumblr media
Saying 'I know we should help but this is too funny'. Twilight and wild are looking disturbed and like they want to help, and Sky and legend are just cold-blooded leaving four struggling for his shield and taking bets. He's very immature, and furthermore, he doesn't really respect Time as an authority as much in the face of pranking/joking
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Bro is not remorseful at all I swear-
I also think 'nice hair' Sky is a little... idk judgy? With people he doesn't get along with as well. Like Hyrule. (Wait I haven't yet I gotta rant on that sometime sorry- but yeah he and Hyrule don't vibe well)
Sky can also be unrestrained with his words and snark- his words can practically be a prank in itself 'nice hair' 'am I late?'. I think sometimes he toes the line with pranks and joking around (like that one quest where you could break Peatrices heart?), and same with his words. Overall he's a snarky and sharper person- and being able to pull off good pranks and jokes isn't inherently a bad thing- he's smart. He's a kind person too, but I think sometimes his words and actions can be too sharp.
I think Jojo also said in the post with their ages that she made him slightly younger because of his immaturity compared to twilight. Do with that what you will
So point is, Sky has flaws that are mildly subtle but still prominent, like his impatience with himself and situations, his immaturity with joking and temper and words, and I hc he's a slightly judgy person. 'Nice costume' to Zelda like SKY but I swear I love him. Don't kill me for discussing flaws please I have a dog
So how this comes together with between him and Time is pretty cool-
Skys impatient, and Time has a resistance to change in his mindset- which means that as far as the sword, Sky wants change now, he wants validation and Time to not hate it. Time does not care about this because the sword hurt him and he's spent years hating it.
But with situations and stuff, especially with the entrance arc, we can see Sky being very impatient after Twi's injury- from what I can tell he wants to rip dinks throat out. But it's still subtle- what's not as subtle is how much Time wants to slow down. He wants to hold them back and protect them, and Sky is impatient in a frustrating situation. I could honestly see Sky wanting to run after the shadow on his own right now (sorry, I've been rereading elastic heart). Sometimes patient + wanting to hurry up doesn't work well.
If you think about it in relation to their journeys it makes sense that they are portrayed this way. Skys journey was about rushing and trying to hurry up. Times journeys were horrifying, with this insane feeling of running out of time.. but he could still turn back said time.
I can't even count the number of people I've seen say they tried to rush through the eldin temple as fast as possible on reruns- after Impa telling him it was too late trying to run as fast as possible even knowing it wouldn't change anything. That translates into skys character, and it must be insanely frustrating for him.
They are both heros. Time's journey was about saving the world and Sky's was about trying to kill a god. It's a big disconnect between them- one is patient and one is not, one doesn't want to be a hero and one's life is being a hero dating a goddess. One lightheartedly jokes and one throws a love letter down the toilet (SKY), one is older and one is immature. Yet on the surface Time wears a scowl and Sky is as soft as can be.
They are so very different in so many ways, but so much alike- they are both heros, they both want to be young and playful at heart. They both really like stabbing things and setting them on fire. And also saving the world.
They are also both extremely mature in ways beyond their years and endlessly kind.
I love them so much.
I wasn't sure to say this in the post bc the ask is about personalities, but I feel like another major issue between them could be whatever happened with Time and timelines and the triforce. Obviously the timeline is messed up. I also have not played times games... but I think in timeline talk one he mentioned the triforce of courage ended up broken? I can see Sky not taking well to all of that.
Soooo in terms of personality conflicts that would make them. Fight? Yikes what are you planning Oma, I would say there's several possible triggers outside of the master sword and Hylia (which I think is wise of you to avoid btw)
I think that Skys impatience contrasting with Time's fixed mindsets can have issues. But the way Sky has shown no acknowledgment of Time when he's tried to stop the boys goofing off w/ pranking can also be a trigger- as well as that sharp and sometimes insensitive snarkiness in Skys words we all know and love. They have. A lot of issues. lol.
Yeah! I uhh hope that helped and was relevant or made sense at all- I swear I love these guys. These two are fun to look at because outside of the obvious stressor of the sword they have a lot of other issues as well. They have differences in thinking and personality that can lead to a lot of tension between them.
Thank you for the ask and I can't wait to see what you come up with
The art and comics is by Jojo @linkeduniverse au :D
Thank you for listening to my rant, and here's one of my favourite pictures of these guys

❥❥❥❥❥❥❥❥❥❥❥❥❥❥❥❥❥❥❥❥❥❥❥❥❥❥❥❥❥❥❥❥❥❥❥
The warm sunlight poured in through the windows, casting a gentle glow over you and Vanessa as you snuggled in your shared bed. Your bodies were entwined beneath the soft covers, and as the light stirred you awake, you nuzzled your face into Vanessa's chest. She responded by pulling you closer and resting her head on top of yours. Just as you were about to drift back to sleep, a loud noise jolted you both awake. With puzzled expressions, you sat up and looked at the bedside table where the noise was coming from.
"Did you forget to turn off your alarm?" you asked, watching as Vanessa reached over to turn it off.
"I must have," she groaned, hitting the alarm button to silence it.
You got out of bed, ready to start your day. Vanessa watched as you gathered a towel, one of her oversized shirts, and some comfortable clothing before she spoke up.
"Where are you going?" she asked, still sounding sleepy.
"I'm going to freshen up, I feel like I've bled all over the sheets," you replied, your voice slightly hoarse from just waking up.
Vanessa hummed in response, rearranging the sheets you had been lying on. She looked up at you with a concerned expression.
"There's no blood, my love," she reassured you, causing you to smile at her thoughtfulness.
"Still, I think it would be best if I shower now," you said with a hint of amusement. Vanessa moved to sit on your side of the bed and reached out for you to come closer.
"Please, can you stay in bed a little longer? If you happen to bleed, I'll clean it up," she pleaded, her voice still muffled from burying her face in your stomach.
"I don't want to get up right now," she whined, and you couldn't help but giggle at her adorable pout.
"It's already 12 pm, love. We've already missed half the day," you reminded her, causing her to groan.
"So what? We've worked hard all week, we deserve these few days off," she argued, crossing her arms and looking at you with a defeated expression.
"That's true," you agreed with a soft smile. You took a step back, causing her to let go of you, and she pouted even more.
"But you know what else is fun to do when we're both on our monthly cycle?" you asked, a mischievous glint in your eye.
"What?" Vanessa grunted, her arms still crossed.
"Taking a shower and baking a cake with the person you love most," you said, watching as her eyes widened in surprise.
"But if you'd rather stay in bed all day, that's fine too," you added with a shrug, before turning and walking towards the bathroom. You could hear Vanessa rustling around in the bedroom before she ran after you with a cheeky smile.
"I thought you wanted to sleep in," you teased, looking at her playfully as you took off your shirt.
"I wanted to sleep in with you. Plus, I don't want to leave you alone while you shower," she said, giving you a kiss on the cheek before undressing alongside you.
"Oh totally," you replied with a laugh, turning on the water in the shower.
✥✥✥✥✥✥✥✥✥✥✥✥✥✥✥✥✥✥✥✥✥✥✥✥✥✥✥✥✥✥
"Okay, so now we need four room-temperature eggs that have been separated," Vanessa calls out to you as you grab the eggs from the counter and a bowl.
"Wait, separated? Do you mean in different bowls?" you ask, looking at the eggs and the one bowl you had taken out.
Vanessa laughs and you look up at her, confused. She shakes her head with a smile and puts down the baking book she was reading from before moving to stand behind you.
"No, my love, separatied means separating the yolk from the egg whites. Can you hand me an egg?" she playfully whispers in your ear.
You hand her an egg and she stands next to you, cracking it against the counter and separating the yolk from the egg white by passing it between the two shells until only the yolk remains.
"See? It's not that difficult," she says with a smile, breaking you from your trance. You return the smile and say, "Yeah, I've got this."
As you continue to separate the eggs and put them in the bowl, Vanessa moves around the kitchen, preparing the other ingredients.
"Done!" you exclaim, looking at Vanessa. She curses under her breath and you drop the empty egg shells in shock. Vanessa had accidentally dropped the flour on her head while reaching for it on the top shelf. You cover your mouth to stifle the laugh that wants to escape as you watch her.
"Baby, I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to scare you. I was just excited to do this right and-" Before you can finish apologizing, Vanessa throws the rest of the flour on you, causing you to gasp in surprise. You stand in shock as she laughs.
"Nessa! What the hell?" you exclaim, surprised. Vanessa continues to laugh as you grab one of the egg yolks from the counter and smear it on her face. She stops laughing as you rub the yolk on her face, then wipes it away to look at you with a playful glare.
"Now you're in trouble," she says, grabbing the rest of the yolks and smushing them on your face. You groan and wipe the yolk off, spitting out any that got into your mouth.
Vanessa continues to laugh as you complain about the yolk in your mouth. She runs to get towels and two glasses of water before returning and handing you a towel. You wipe your face and apologize for laughing, then pick up one of the glasses of water and pour it on Vanessa's head, causing her to gasp and close her eyes.
"Y/n!" she shouts, and you laugh as you run away. Vanessa wipes her face with her sleeve before chasing after you and tackling you onto the couch.
"Hey, stop! You're going to get the couch wet and dirty," you say, laughing as she tickles you. Vanessa finally stops and walks away for a moment, giving you time to catch your breath. But before you can, she comes back with the other glass of water. You try to protest, but she throws the water on you before you can finish. You groan as she giggles and says, "Now we're even."
"Let's go finish this cake," Vanessa says, laughing as she walks back to the kitchen. You call out that you'll get her back and fall back onto the now-wet couch, not caring if it gets any dirtier.
❥❥❥❥❥❥❥❥❥❥❥❥❥❥❥❥❥❥❥❥❥❥❥❥❥❥❥❥❥❥❥❥❥❥❥
You lay snuggled up against Vanessa on the couch as an old romance show played on the television. She had her arms wrapped around you as you picked at the remnants of cake on your plate, gazing absentmindedly at the TV. Vanessa's lips snapped you out of your daydream as she planted a soft kiss on your head, causing you to smile and look up at her.
"Hi," you say with a smile, and she smiles back before nodding towards the plate in your hand.
"Are you going to finish that?" she asks, and you look down at the plate before shaking your head and playing with the plastic fork.
"Nah, do you want the last bite?" you offer, looking back up at her. She nods eagerly, and you hand her the plate.
"Can you feed it to me, though?" she asks with a mischievous glint in her eye. You raise an eyebrow, wondering what she's up to, but ultimately nod and move to straddle her. As you hand her the fork, she grabs your leg and pulls it over her waist, holding onto your waist as you lean down to feed her the last bite of cake.
"This is extra, you could have just taken the plate from me," you comment, slightly annoyed but unable to hide your smile.
"I know, but you look cute when you're flustered," Vanessa teases, smirking up at you. You playfully roll your eyes before planting a quick kiss on her lips.
"Let's go shower now," you say, trying to get up, but Vanessa's grip on your waist tightens.
"One more kiss," she pleads, and you sigh, knowing she won't let you go until you comply. You give her a tight-lipped smile before leaning down to give her another quick kiss, but she surprises you by deepening the kiss, her tongue exploring your mouth. You moan against her lips as you taste the cake on her tongue.
As the kiss intensifies, you feel Vanessa's hand move from the back of your head to rest on your cheek, and she breaks the kiss, her thumb lightly tracing your bottom lip. You catch your breath, looking down at her with a dazed expression.
"Do you still want to shower?" she asks with a playful glint in her eye, and you shyly nod, hiding your face in the crook of her neck.
"But we should take one together to save water," you suggest, your voice muffled against her skin. Vanessa hums in agreement, her voice teasing as she replies, "Sure, just because you want to save water."
You can't help but smile against her neck as you lift your head to look at her with a mock serious expression.
"Vanessa, that's gross. We both have our periods," you say, feigning disgust at what she was suggesting. But Vanessa just shrugs, not fazed by your comment.
"So what?" she replies with a smirk, and you can't help but laugh at her nonchalant response.

You can ignore this if ya want but I just can't get over reader angst. Honestly atp I starve for angst. Could you feed us another angst fic? Like platonic 141 with a reader where she maybe got pretty badly injured while being on a mission? :3
AND. don't forget to stay hydrated and eat well!! Take any breaks you need 😌.
(sorry if this doesn't make sense English is not my native language 🥲)

When you were thrown into the freezer, the first thing you noticed were the bodies.
There’s ten that you can immediately see, and twelve once you look a little bit closer. All of them are suspended from the ceiling, each hanging from their ankle—with said ankle being held up by a meat hook.
When the door had been closed shut with a loud, booming thump you hadn’t felt any immediate fear. But now, as you’re sitting in the corner of the freezer you’d been trapped in—the corner farthest away from any bodies—that fear is starting to set in.
Before this, only a few minutes ago, you were being interrogated. Your captors were asking for information on the details of any upcoming missions, objectives, target locations, anything that you had about the 141 that you could share with them, they wanted.
Of course, you didn’t say anything. You remained silent throughout the entire thing, not talking once, even when at the end of the whole thing your interrogator slammed his hand down onto the table you were sat down in front of and yelled at you to say anything.
When he and his team figured out that you wouldn’t give them any information, you remember he muttered something unintelligible under his breath and swiftly walked over to your end of the table. He had uncuffed your ankles from the legs of the chair you were sitting down on and uncuffed your wrists from the table, and before you could fight back, he grabbed both of your wrists with one hand and dragged you behind him.
Then, he led you to the freezer you were trapped in now, and threw you in roughly before shutting the door behind you. You had hit and scratched at the door for a good minute after being thrown in, and after you figured that it was a waste of time trying to do so, you sighed and retired to the corner.
Now, as you’re huddled in the corner, you kind of regret not giving them the intel they needed.
The freezer wasn’t too bad at first—you thought you’d last pretty long in there, and mentally called all the dead bodies hung from meat hooks in there pussies and simply walked around for a bit. The walking helped warm you up a bit, but soon it got tiring, and you retired to the corner farthest away from any dead bodies.
You think the freezer is below zero degrees—no, has to be below zero, because now, just about five minutes after being thrown in, violent shivers have started to wrack your body and you swear you can’t feel your lips anymore. You haven’t been able to feel any sort of warmth in the past four minutes, all of it disappearing within the first.
And God, the smell. The smell of frozen, rotting flesh really isn’t something you ever want to smell again. Thankfully, there’s no live flies in the freezer—all of them had died of the severe cold, creating small black circles under each hanging body where they died.
You currently have your knees up to your chest with your hands trapped in between your thighs to try and keep them warm at least, with your forehead resting on the top of one of your knees. It’s working, kind of. The palms and backs of your hands feel just warm enough to not be considered cold, but the tips of your fingers are so cold they’re beginning to burn.
You pull them back a bit to trap your fingertips in between your thighs, exposing the area where your wrist and hand meet to the cold, sighing as your fingertips warm up just a bit. Your thighs, thankfully, still have some heat trapped in between them, and you think your stomach is still somewhat warm.
Around ten minutes later, you feel the heat trapped in your thighs start to dissipate. Fucking fantastic. You sigh and let your head tilt back, the back of it hitting the wall behind you, making you wince at the cold metal directly on your head. The cold seems to crawl through your hair and make it to your scalp, small pinpricks of the cold spreading throughout your scalp and the back of your neck.
You’re reminded of just how cold it is then, of how this is quite literally a freezer, and of how said freezer has already claimed twelve lives. Or, at least, has housed twelve dead bodies and several unfortunate flies.
Just then, the fear finally starts to set in.
At first, you weren’t all too worried about being saved—you figured you’d be found soon enough, since your team has a general idea of where you are. But the more you think about it, the more your brain emphasizes the general part of general idea. You start to think about how they don’t know any specifics.
Sure, they know that you were captured, and that you were being held in some small part of Italy, and the people who captured you—but what did they know beyond that? Did they know your exact location? How long would it take them to figure it out? And how long would it take them to get here?
Would you even be alive by the time they got here, if they ever did?
You notice your teeth starting to make an annoying chattering noise and you bite down to stop them. The violent shivers that wrack your body don’t help, the intense trembling only succeeding in making you more anxious. You start to become hyper aware of the cold that crawls onto your back from the freezing metal you’re leaning back on, and you quickly push yourself just a foot away from it so that it no longer bothers you.
Your feet are starting to feel numb, you don’t think you’d be able to stand on them anymore if you tried, for you fear you’d just stumble and fall down. You look around the small freezer. There’s nothing that could help you get out—there’s only the bodies suspended from the ceiling and the dead flies that surround them.
You’re glad none of the bodies are facing you—you don’t know what you would do if you had to sit in the corner with a bunch of dead bodies staring at you with their vacant, frozen-over eyes. Thinking about the eyes makes your own water, and you blink away the small tears that’ve gathered on your waterline.
You can’t feel them, but you see the tears that were once in your eyes now clumping together on your eyelashes, making your brows furrow. With them starting to cling to your eyelashes comes blurriness for the top half of whatever you can see. You sigh, a white puff of condensation hanging in the air as evidence of your exhale, and move your hand out from in between your thighs to wipe away the tears from your lashes haphazardly.
You don’t bother to put your hand back in between your thighs, instead just resting it on top of your knee. Despite it only having been around fifteen minutes since you were thrown into the freezer, you’re starting to feel more fatigued and your breath slows down significantly, as does your heartbeat.
Another ten minutes of doing nothing but staring at the wall opposite of your own pass by, and disorientation is starting to set in. You feel oddly forgetful—like at times, you forget how you even got into the freezer, and have to wrack your brain to remember that you literally got thrown into it and are now trapped in here until someone rescues you. Assuming they do. Who was it that would even rescue you?
You think long and hard for a few seconds, and can scrounge up nothing from your confused mind. You let out a frustrated huff and let your head tilt and fall forward so that your forehead is resting atop your knee, another shiver ripping through your frame. It almost feels like it’s getting colder in the fridge.
Suddenly, you hear a loud banging noise—albeit, it sounded more muffled to your ears, but you could tell it was loud—and guns being fired.
You can’t really tell when the gunfire dies down, but you can tell when the thumping of someone’s boots grows louder and closer to the door of the freezer. You try to stand up, not really knowing why since you’re in no condition to fight, having been in a freezer for about forty minutes, but you still attempt to.
You find that standing is extremely difficult after practically being frozen alive for the past forty minutes, because as soon as you try to even push yourself off of the ground with your shaky hands, you discover that you aren’t even strong enough to push yourself up a single inch before having to stop. As well as that, you find that the ground is just as freezing as the walls and air of the freezer, because your hands now ached with frostbite.
The action causes an unexpected wave of exhaustion to roll over you, and you pant to try and catch your breath, breathing white puffs of condensation out into the air.
You hear a loud bang against the door, and jump at the sound, your head whipping towards the door. You hear another loud noise, and the confused fog that’s taken over your mind only grows thicker, your disorientation only growing stronger with it. The room feels like it’s spinning, and the feeling reminds you of a word, and you know what the word is, but fuck, why don’t you know it at the same time? Why can’t I remember anything?
There’s another bang, and you hear muffled cursing before suddenly the door bursts open, a man wearing a skull mask stumbling in after it does so—he probably ran into it to open it, you think, watching the man get his balance back. He looks around for a moment before his eyes land on you, and the moment they do, you finally remember something.
That’s Ghost.
Somewhere in your confusion-clouded mind, you’re happy that you’ve finally remembered something. But right now, you can’t really think about anything—your mind is blank, and you can barely even process what you’re seeing.
You’re so caught up in thinking about the fact that you aren’t really thinking, you’re just focusing a little more on whatever’s going on in your mind and not actually retaining any of it, that you don’t even notice Ghost rushing towards you and kneeling down right next to you.
He pauses for a moment, but after a second he makes the decision to put one hand behind your back and snake one under your legs, the warm physical touch making you wince. Not that you didn’t like the warmth—you just didn’t like the sudden temperature change beneath your knees and across your back.
“It’s okay, I’ve got you,” Ghost grunts as he picks you up, one arm under your knees and the other behind your back, lifting you up into a sort of bridal carry. He nearly drops you because of how cold your skin is—for a moment he thinks your back and legs are wet, then he realizes that no, they aren’t wet, you’re just really fucking cold.
He takes a moment to make sure you’re secure in his arms before tilting his head to the side, all the way down to his shoulder, and muttering something into his earpiece. Despite being so close to him, his voice only sounds muffled to you—in all honesty, just about everything is starting to sound more muffled to you. You can only tell he’s done talking because he lifts his head back up and readjusts his arms around you, before walking out the busted-open door.
The walking quickly turns into running, which then turns into sprinting, making your surroundings go blurry and makes your vertigo worse—it almost feels like you’re falling. You’re grateful you haven’t eaten anything in the past few hours, because you fear that if you had, you would’ve thrown it all up by now. All you can see are blurred colors—the hallways, you vaguely remember, because I’m in a building. How’d I even get here? Why am I here? You’re pulled out of your confused thoughts when you’re set down on the ground somewhere, and forced into a lying position with your limbs all outstretched. When you slowly blink up at what you thought was the ceiling, you’re both surprised and not surprised when you see the blue-black night sky.
Not sure of what’s going on, you try to get up, but Ghost quickly pushes you back down, muttering something under his breath. He pauses for a moment, his blurred figure stopping any and all movements, before he suddenly picks you back up, making you wince at the way your head spins at the sudden movement. You hear a quiet, muffled—but clearer than before—’sorry’ from Ghost before he’s running again.
It’s a much shorter distance this time, and instead of immediately setting you down, you hear something click and suddenly you hear another muffled voice. They sound concerned, you mentally note, Or maybe confused. Maybe both, actually. No yeah, definitely both. Well, now just concerned. Or maybe that’s confused.
Caught up in your confused thoughts, you don’t realize that you’re being set down on a few comfy seats. You aren’t pulled away from your own thoughts until you feel two warm hands cupping either side of your jaw, and hear Ghost’s oddly distressed voice becoming more clear by the second. You now acknowledge the weird ringing in your ears that almost drown out the sound of Ghost, and struggle to figure out what he’s saying through the annoying noise.
“—something,” You catch the end of Ghost’s sentence, and blink up at him slowly.
“Huh?” You elegantly ask, coughing and wincing at your hoarse voice, not knowing how it got so hoarse—or why it hurt so much to talk. Your throat almost felt like it was burning, but it also felt oddly numb, a sensation you couldn’t quite put a name on.
“Oh my god,” Ghost sighs, his forehead falling onto your chest momentarily as he takes a few deep breaths. He brings his head back up from your chest and says, “I almost thought you were dead when I got in there. Jesus, you look dead. I need to— I need to get something, a blanket or— why the fuck don’t we carry any heat packs or anything in here? Swear to God, I’m gonna—” You don’t pay too much attention to Ghost’s panicked ranting and shift your head to the side to try and look at where you are, and you discover that you’re in a car. Oh. Cool. You spot the door on the passenger seat’s side still open and swinging a bit, as if it’d been opened quickly just a few moments earlier for someone to quickly get out.
Ghost suddenly backs up and gets out of the car, though staying within a foot of it, looking around for a moment before heading to the back of the car. Your head clears up the tiniest bit, just enough for you to be able to assume that he’s heading to the back of the car to get to the trunk for whatever reason, and you simply lie there on the seat cushions.
A few seconds later, Ghost comes back with a somewhat-fluffy jacket, and carefully gets into the car—half kneeling down so that he doesn’t need to lean on the seats to get to you. He tosses the coat over your chest, and it does absolutely nothing at first, at least not until Ghost gets a bit closer and tucks the coat tighter around you, treating it like a blanket. Then, it starts to warm you up just the tiniest bit. Beyond that, it does absolutely nothing. But props to Ghost for at least trying.
He quickly backs out of the car and once he’s out he closes the door behind him, and you want to get up for a moment, just to go see what he’s doing, but you don’t have to. He gets into the car again, this time in the driver’s seat, and he turns on the ignition. Once the car rumbles to life, he immediately turns up the heat and leans over to the passenger seat’s side in order to close the door, and with a grunt he manages to do so.
The newfound heat makes you shiver, and it almost feels like you’re in a microwave defrosting. Distracted by the sudden temperature change, you don’t pay attention to what Ghost is saying into his earpiece as he glances out the front window of the car and back at you. You simply tug the jacket tighter around your torso and relish in the warmth.
“—ay. So we’ll just leave then, and you’ll be fine?” You pick up from Ghost’s conversation, perking up at the mention of leaving, “Copy that, Captain. I’ll get them back to base.”
‘Captain’—Oh, he’s talking to Price—says something that makes Ghost sigh exasperatedly and take his index finger off of his earpiece, instead settling both of his hands on the steering wheel of the car and stealing one last glance at you before setting his eyes on the gravel ahead of him and pushing down on the gas pedal.
—
When you wake up, you’re significantly warmer than you were… however-long-it’s-been-ago.
You look to your left and see nothing but a white wall and a heart rate monitor—which displays that your heart rate is 115—then to your right, where you see Ghost sitting in a plastic chair close to the bed you’re laying in, eyes closed with his head tilted to the side and resting on his own shoulder.
You don’t bother trying to wake him up, not knowing how long he’s been asleep or how much sleep he’s gotten, and instead simply turn your head back to stare up at the ceiling.
After maybe five minutes of zoning out and staring up at the ceiling, you hear clothes rustling and look back over to your right, seeing Ghost start to stir in his sleep. Just a few seconds later, he stirs awake, slowly blinking his eyes open.
You watch silently as he blinks the sleep out of his eyes, and he breathes in sharply through his nose before looking over at you and seeing you staring at him wordlessly. You both blink at each other for a long, awkward moment before he speaks.
“… Did you, uh… how was your… rest?” Ghost asks, not sure what to say. What exactly do you say, after saving one of your teammates from potential death?
“Good,” You respond, your throat having an odd, small burning sensation when you talk.
Ghost looks like he’s holding back a few words for a moment after you speak, and after one expectant look from you, he mumbles, “You should really say ‘well’ or ‘fine’ instead. It’d be more grammatically accurate and is more grammatically aligned with the verb ‘rest’.”
“… Okay?” You blink, thrown off by the unexpected information, “I’ll, uh… keep that in mind, next time someone asks me how my rest was.”
“You get asked that often?”
“I only get asked that by you.”
“Ah.” Ghost nods, looking off to the side for a moment. You’d think he was your dad and you’d just asked him how babies were made with how awkward he was, and you honestly expected the next words out of his mouth to be ‘when a man and a woman love each other very much’ before he hesitantly asks, “D’you feel better? After the whole being-trapped-in-a-freezer… experience?”
“Experience?” You question, a light laugh evident in your voice, “Yeah, I feel better. I like being warm more than, y’know, being frozen alive. Laying down in a warm bed is nice.”
“I didn’t know how else to phrase it,” Ghost huffs out, leaning back in his seat.
“So you’re gonna correct me on my grammar but you can’t think of a better word than ‘experience’?”
“Don’t get smart with me, [c/n].”
“I’m just saying,” You shrug lightly, wincing a little when your shoulders ache as you do. Ghost notices this and his eyes narrow, but he doesn’t mention it.
“Then stop trying to sass me.”
“Sass you? Jesus, fuck, don’t talk to me like I’m some preteen who just found out that they can talk back to their parents.”
“Isn’t that what you are, though?”
“No, I’m— you know what? Fuck you. Get out. I hate you. You suck.”
“That’s a colorful choice of words to say to the man who saved your life,” Ghost raises an eyebrow at you, “I’m still waiting for my ‘thank you’, by the way.”
“Don’t care, you’re never getting it,” You say stubbornly, making Ghost sigh and stand up. You look up at him as he stands up and try to sit up in your bed, but wince again when you try to move your arms. Still, you attempt to push yourself up, and only relax your weak joints and lay back down when Ghost presses a gentle hand to your shoulder to get you to stop trying to sit up.
“Don’t,” He warns softly—you didn’t know his voice could get that soft—as he pushes you back down, “Medics said you’re to keep laying down for a bit while you warm up. We’ve gotta wait until your BPM is below a hundred before letting you up.”
“That’s stupid,” You huff out, though not fighting Ghost pushing you back down.
“It’s not stupid,” Ghost lightly chastises you, “It’s doctor’s orders. Once your BPM is below a hundred, we’ll know you’re warmed up enough to start gettin’ up and walking around.”
“… Still stupid,” You grumble, not commenting on the way Ghost’s hand lingers on your shoulder even after you’ve already laid back down. Ghost sighs and kneels down so that his shoulders are level with the railing of your bed.
“You’re too stubborn.”
“I’m not.”
“Yes you are.”
“No I’m not!” Your light arguing only proves Ghost’s point further, and he knows this, the knowledge of it making him snicker quietly.
“Uh huh. Sure, kid,” He begins to retract his hand from your shoulder, but upon seeing the disappointment that immediately seeps into your expression once he even barely begins to lift his hand from your shoulder, he immediately lets it rest right back onto your shoulder.
You both sit in silence for another few moments before Ghost speaks up again, this time a bit quieter and in that same soft tone he’d used earlier, “I tried to get to you quicker. But we needed some time to get your exact location, and when we found it we were a hundred and sixty klicks away, and it was just—it took us… some time to find you.”
“It’s fine. I understand,” You respond, about to shrug but stopping yourself, not wanting to feel that aching in your shoulders again, “I don’t even know how I let myself get captured, that— that’s probably on me.”
“You didn’t let yourself get captured, you just did.”
“Well…”
“Well, what?”
“I don’t know, I just—” You take a deep breath before continuing slowly, “I didn’t let myself get captured, but I also didn’t do enough to fight against it, so I feel like technically—”
“Fuck the technicalities about how you got captured, you got captured either way, and you got thrown into a freezer,” Ghost cuts you off, talking quickly, before sighing and continuing in a softer voice once again, “Please, just let me try to be somewhat comforting for once. You know I’m bad at this, and that I never do this. So just… don’t talk about what happened like that, if not for your own mental health’s sake, at least for my attempts at making you feel better.”
You open your mouth to say something else but ultimately close your mouth and let out a deep sigh through your nose, not saying anything, letting Ghost continue to talk.
“I, for whatever reason, feel… very oddly bad for you,” Ghost poorly explains, before pausing to think for a moment then rephrasing, “Not… not as in I pity you, but as in I feel bad for you in a way that I feel like I’m at fault for what you went through even though I know I’m not at fault. It’s like empathy but… worse. Not saying empathy is bad to begin with, but this is like if empathy was bad and it became worse and—”
Ghost cuts himself off with silence and lets out a frustrated huff at his inability to put his feelings into words, and tries again, “I feel bad for you in a way that I don’t know what exactly you felt or how you felt in the moment that you were in that freezer but just the idea of you being in there without me for… I’m assuming an entire hour, if not longer, makes me feel like I failed. I don’t know what I failed at—”
Ghost quickly pauses before sighing and continuing, “Actually, no, I do. I feel like I failed at protecting you. Which is strange, because that’s technically not my job, but I felt—and still feel—obligated to protect you especially and that bothers me. Not bothers me in a sense that I don’t like you or the thought of… protecting you, but bothers me in the sense that I’m not supposed to feel like that. No amount of teasing, or borderline bullying, or anything should’ve ever made me feel obligated to think of you like— like— like…” Ghost trails off, leaving you wondering what he meant to say. He stays silent for a few moments, before you try to fill in for him.
“Like… what, a kid?” You offer, watching him shake his head negatively. You think for another moment, before trying again, “… Like your kid?”
Ghost nods affirmatively, hesitantly, and you want to scoff at the hesitation.
“And what, that’s bad to you?” You ask, your words more venomous than you intended. Ghost sighs and nonverbally shakes his head negatively before responding to you.
“Not bad in the way you’re thinking,” He answers, before elaborating upon seeing your confused expression, “It’s bad not because you’re bad, it’s bad because I’m bad.”
“… No you’re not?”
“Yes, I am.”
“No, you’re really not,” You insist stubbornly.
“Please don’t be stubborn with me on this,” His tone makes it sound like he’s almost begging you, which is… somehow beyond terrifying to think about.
“I’m not being stubborn, I’m being honest, you’re really not.”
“But I am,” He sounds like he’s trying to make his tone sound like there’s no room for any further arguments, but he fails, and you continue to argue with him.
“No you’re not!” The whole conversation feels like a parallel to the one you’d both been having just a few minutes earlier, except this time you’re not giving up as easily, “How are you bad?”
“I’m—” Ghost pauses for a moment, not having expected that argument, and he weakly argues, “I just am!”
“You’re not, and you fucking know it!”
“Okay, well—” Ghost sighs and looks away from you, “You might not think so. That’s fine. But I know I am. If not for anything else, for you. I’d be… terrible as any sort of… I don’t know, role model to you.”
“Jokes on you, you’re already a role model to me.”
“I’m being serious.”
“So am I,” You raise an eyebrow at him, “You aren’t a terrible role model. A little emo, sure, but not terrible.”
“I’m emotionally and mentally unstable, and am terrible with empathy. I’m blunt, abrasive more than half the time, and I tell the shittiest jokes known to man. I can’t— I don’t show my face to anyone. I expect everyone to act the way I want them to. I’m almost always busy.”
“At least you’re self-aware,” You brush off, “And, for the record, I don’t know what abrasive means and I can’t tell empathy from sympathy without using Google.”
Ghost looks back at you in disbelief and stares for a moment before saying quietly, “Abrasive means harsh. And empathy is showing understanding for others while sympathy is pity.”
“I also like your shitty jokes,” You add on, “I think they’re great. They make everyone else mad so I like them. And some of them are funny.”
“You find them funny?”
“Yeah?”
“That’s…” Ghost blinks at you, eyes a little watery, before huffing out a small laugh, “That’s ridiculous, none of them are funny. I call them shitty for a reason.”
“Some of them are pretty funny.”
“Oh yeah? Like what?”
“The Mayflower one.”
“… That one?” Ghost asks, tone humorous but still disbelieving, “Out of all the ones I’ve told, that one?”
“Yes, that one,” You insist, before pausing and holding back a smile while tacking on, “Unless you wanna tell it again to try and change my mind?”
Ghost thinks for a moment before telling the joke, “If April showers bring May flowers, what do Mayflowers bring?”
You feign cluelessness for a moment, “What do they bring?”
“Pilgrims.” The bluntness of the delivery makes you quietly snicker, much to Ghost’s surprise, the laugh not forced or anything.
“It’s still good,” You sigh, small giggles still escaping your lips.
“It’s really not,” Ghost sighs, finally retracting his hand from your shoulder to settle it on the railing of your bed and use it to help himself stand up. Once he fully stands up, he looks down at you, and one look at your face makes him want to whisk you out of bed and at least hug you, but he knows he can’t with your sore muscles and still-somewhat frozen skin.
Instead, he opts for grabbing one of your hands gently and giving it a very emotionally charged squeeze, and holding it for another few moments before letting go.
“I’m not forgetting that, by the way,” At Ghost’s confused eyes, you tack on, “You confirming earlier that you think of me as your kid.”
“That—” Ghost stammers for a moment before saying, “That was barely a confirmation, that was just— that was nothing.”
“Oh really?”
“Yes. Yeah. Yep.”
“So if I told you that you saying that that was nothing is making me a little bit upset…”
“… Then I would say, out of pity, that I did mean it and that it was a confirmation.”
“Good to know,” You nod.
“But that’s only a hypothetical.”
“Right, yeah, of course.”
You both stay silent for another moment, the silence now a little less awkward, before Ghost says, “I’m gonna, uh… head out, now.”
“Alright,” You hum simply, watching as Ghost nods to you as a sort of ‘bye’ before heading towards the curtains in front of your bed.
Before he can exit, you quickly and quietly say, “Thank you, for saving me.”
He pauses, a little confused on why you chose now to thank him—and why you thanked him at all—until he quickly recalls earlier in the conversation when he’d mentioned expecting some words of gratitude.
He smiles behind his mask, the smile evident in his voice as he replies to you, “No problem.”

Ancient Hearthian (Outer Wilds) Pattern
Tumblr media
I got so many requests for the ancient Hearthian from Outer Wilds, and they really are so much simpler than the Nomai - but also, my notes and pics are a bit less detailed, and I've been so bad at even getting on my computer lately - so lemme try and cobble this together so anyone interested at least has something to work with!
Tumblr media
Technical stuff: 3mm crochet hook, 9mm safety eyes, Red Heart Super Saver yarn in Jade, probably... but any nice shade would do!

They start as one long piece that kinda looks like a tadpole! A lot of the shaping is just by gentle smooshing it, but there are a few rows where you increase or decrease unevenly to contribute to it... I'm not even sure how much it really makes a difference tho!
6 sc in a magic circle
inc 6x to make 12 stitches
(3 inc, 3 sc) 2x to make 18 stiches (and a slightly elongated oval rather than circular cross section when looking face on)
(2 sc, inc) 6x to make 24 stitches
9 rows of 24
Add eyes and begin to stuff
Across the "top" of the body (wherever you choose that to be) do (1 sc, 1 dec) 3x, then 15 more sc to make a row of 21 stitches
Again across the "top" of the body do (1 sc, 1 dec) 3x, then 12 more sc to make a row of 18 stitches
From here, it's slow decreases (still at the top) and stuffing as you go:
(1 sc, 1 dec) 2x then sc around to make a row of 16
1 dec then sc around to make a row of 15
1 dec then sc around to make a row of 14
1 dec then sc around to make a row of 13
1 dec then sc around to make a row of 12
2 dec then sc around to make a row of 10
1 dec then sc around to make a row of 9
1 row of 9
1 dec then sc around to make a row of 8
3 rows of 8
2 dec then around to make a row of 6, fasten off and hide tail
Tumblr media
Feet and Legs:
It looks like I really winged it a bit here, so let me try and figure out approximately what I did - the main idea is I think I made a very small tube for the feet, then pulled the tails through to the center, chained into a random stitch, and and did a few chains up and down to give it a short leg, then used those tails as well to sew them on to the body... I'm afraid I can hardly tell what I did for those legs, even looking at it in person, like it might just be a few knots... I am hoping that for here it isn't too much trouble for you to improvise something that works well for you!:
4 sc in a magic circle
3 rows of 4, then close off and pull the tails through the small cylinder, out the center
chain into a random stitch, then into an adjacent stitch,
sc "around" these two for 2-3 rows, to make a short leg
use the rest of the tail to sew onto the body.
Tumblr media
Very messy, possibly blurry.... but hopefully this at least gives a bit more inspiration.
Tumblr media
Ok, again, I apologize, it's not my best pattern, but I hope it will give people a starting point! Don't hesitate to ask questions if you need them, although as I mentioned, I'm not on tumblr much now a days. Don't forget to check out my Nomai pattern here! And as always, give me a tag here or @ erin.gurumi on instagram if you make one! I love to see them!

YOU!!!!!
GIVE ME WATER DEW BONDING WITH AETHER PLEASEPLEASEPLEASE I AM BEGGING ON MY HANDS N KNEES RNNN 🫶🫶🫶
MMEEEEE???!?? hehehe say less... Some aren't bonding but just them bc I'm NOT normal about those 2
Once they got past the hiding stage, or at least better than it used to be, they honestly spent a lot of time reading together! Aether would find one about some niche interest they both shared and he'd read to Dew, and then it'd be Dew's turn. Aether would always stare at Dewy as he spoke, how his tied back hair still managed to have loose strands fall next to his cheek. Just humming and suddenly forgetting what's actually being read to him as he's so entranced with the little fish right in front of him.
How they'd sit in the practice room, just them, always doing some type of parallel play. Aether strumming his acoustic hagstrom while looking over his own music while Dew is cleaning his basses, catching little glimpses at Aether and face getting SO warm. He just didn't know there'd be times Aether just watched him with admiration before looking away so he didn't get caught.
Now when they got SUPER comfortable with each other and Dew's honest personality started coming out; they had a little game with each other. Who could hypnotize who first. Dew, with his siren songs or Aether, with his quintessence. So many times Dew won, just softly singing to Aether who's on his knees and just admiring with this drunken look — but a few times Dew would be a puddle in Aether's hold with eyes full of stars, leaning against him.
When they first bonded together, they didn't mate which was super unnatural. Dew simply wasn't ready, and Aether respected that. How they ignored their own instincts and just held each other tightly through the night. It wasn't for a while until Dew felt comfortable enough to finally mate with him, and man :( it was so gentle and slow. Aether has always been the kinda guy to have candles lit in the bedroom, and Dew will ALWAYS associate the smell of cinnamon and vanilla for their first time together.
After they were forcefully retired, Dew finally started the conversation of moving in together. Aether absolutely wanted it, and they had begun filling out the form (which was needed at the time) for a room change. Eventually, though, that form was approved but only after Copia arrived. Dew no longer had a sense of what he wanted. Although approved, Dew still has a separate room with all of his old stuff that he only goes to when he needs alone time. Otherwise, he and Aether share his.
"Firefly" came from Aether watching as Dew's bioluminescence kept going in and out while passing through tunnels on the tour bus. He knew it was just because of the lighting but he still found it beyond adorable. "Teddy" came from Dew half asleep and kept whimpering needing his teddy bear he had at the time, stumbling into what he thought was his bunk but instead Aether's and clinging to him.
Dew was a Fergie lover back then, and so many times would just be singing and dancing with Aether in his room. Glamorous and Clumsy was his favorites, and Aether finally gifted him the CD one day and ever since then for like three whole months, you could hear Fergie in the den. Aether got SOOO much shit for it by the others bc to be honest, after hearing Fergalicious after so many times can drive someone mad, but Aether didn't mind. He'd eventually start singing Fergie without realizing and Dew would get SO fucking excited.
There was a brief period where Dew would suddenly bite Aether, and Aether would never figure it out as to why or what would trigger it. They'd just be cuddling and then BAM, his arm is bit. They're making dinner, Dew reaches over on his tiptoes and bites his shoulder. Every time Aether would ask "What was that for?" Dew would just purr soooo much and stay silent. To this day, he still doesn't know that it was Dew laying claim on him. Water ghouls and biting man....

NOT ME HAVING THE HONOUR OF BEING MUTUALS WITH ONE OF MY FAV WRITERS, HELLO?!?!?!?!?
anyways, i rlly can't stop thinking ab soft Gojo :(
just him getting super emotional while cuddling cus he's thinking ab just how much he adores and appreciates having someone in his life, who loves and sees him for who he truly is cus he's always just percieved as the strongest and not as Satoru </3 (Sugurus "Are you the strongest because you're Gojo Satoru, or are you Gojo Satoru because you're the strongest" HURTS)
it's just softness and fluff everywhere as he slowly traces his hands all over his lovers body; squeezing, caressing, tracing, overall just trying to get himself to believe: "You're here, you're real, i have you."
A tear leaving his eye as he makes eye contact with his love, and they kiss it away whilist caressing his cheeks and whispering sweet nothings into his ear, but also reassuring and reminding him that yes, you deserve to be more than a weapon, you deserve to be you.
I'm so emotional ab him :((, this can also count as a request btw, i was mostly sharing brainrot cus im very much despising the jjk manga and am actively living in delusions :)
you can add some soft sex or keep it fluffy and bittersweet (if you wanna ofc, no pressure<3)
I fucking LOOOVE a soft Satoru I DONT CAREEEE
He's so adorable and it HURTS MEEE
(also, HI MOOT AND AHHHHH FAVOURITE WRITER??? I HAVEN'T EVEN STARTED ANYTHING PROPER YET😭😭)
tiny drabble under the cut because HDGSHHSHSH
(i didn't write smut but I am planning on working with that 😩)
Tumblr media
The way his gentle eyes meet yours isn't enough to put into words. Or maybe it's too much. Words are complicated sometimes.
So it's understandable why Satoru doesn't speak when he gets home like this. Tired. Exhausted. Feeling like his headache is so bad not even a box of panadol can fix. Hell, he feels the pain in his soul.
But the second your soothing voice reaches his ears, it's like all of the turmoil is gone. The world reduces itself to the warmth of your skin and the smoothness of your voice. It becomes the simple moments of intimacy, where you just hold him to soothe his six eyes.
Where they can all, truly, fall shut and rest.
Like a safe space of some sorts. With your careful hands caressing his hair as you both lay, cuddling, all of the lights out. No music. No noise. Just your shared breathing, and heartbeats. How his hands rest on your back, his full weight on top of you, hair tousled and messy. His breaths deep and slow, making him slowly melt more and more into your embrace.
With gentle words and gentler touches.
"I missed you."
"I missed you too, my love."
Even being called that makes tears prickle his eyes. My love. Not Satoru. Not Gojo. Not the strongest nor a weapon. Just... someone. A random guy, who met the most amazing person, and just happens to be loved. It's like when he's with you, all worries vanish. You're the calm to his storm.
Even if it isn't visible.
That's the funny thing about storms, right? If you're in the eye of the hurricane, you won't notice until you open your eyes. And he, sadly, has six of them to remind him how he's constantly fighting for his life.
Sadly, some people are born to fight. His heart yearns for the gentleness of a lover, and his body is used to fight the toughest battles. All while putting up the facade that he's the strongest. As if being referred to as such doesn't hurt him more than anyone can. Words, sadly, go through his infinity.
Something he absolutely turns off whenever near you.
It's like you manage to calm even the deepest, most obscure parts of his brain. You make him forget instinct. When he's in your arms, he doesn't need to protect himself from anything. He's safe. Your lips to his dampened cheeks that serve as a reminder that maybe he does deserve love. He deserves to not having to be The Strongest all of the fime.

Eddie my love
Hello everyone!
This is my first fic of eddie here so i really really hope you enjoy it as much as i did!
Summary: you decide to make a surprise for Eddie on his birthday by telling how much you love him!
There is no warnings just pure fluff
Tumblr media
It was Eddie's birthday! You were so excited. It was the first time, since you started dating, you’re with him for his birthday. Eddie was never a huge fan of them. It didn't felt like a day to celebrate.
As a little kid, his dad didn't wake up super early to make him a great breakfeast with nice presents. Maybe his mom did, but it was too long ago. Insted, his dad would wake up late, not going to work , or even just forgetting about it.
But when you started dating, he felt like his world would be turned upside down! Never in his wildest dreams he would have thought that a girl like you would appear in his life and make changes like you did.
You talked and agreed that it would be ok to celebrate it. You've been planning to go out and it happen to be right on the day he have a show at the hideout. "Thats perfect. You guys can play and when you finish, we can just stay there and hang together. What do you think?" you said, playing with your rings, a thing that you would do when felling nervous. You didn't want to make him do anything he didn't wanted to. The thing was that, you had a surprise for him and were really hoping it would work.
"I think" he kissed you "It is perfect" another kiss "Just like you". You just stood there with your cheeks red and a stupid smile. He had that effect on you
*******
The day arrived and you were there, watching your man play his guitar with his friends, taking pictures in your camera that he got you as a present. You were with friends as well. As Robin and Steve were friends with Eddie you thought it would be ok, and Eddie already assumed you would bring them.
You were talking to Robin as Steve came to you with your drinks
"Here, for you and you. There you go." They were finishing their last song of the night. The small bar was filled with people tonight. It was like it was a present for him, and honestly, it was your favorite performance of his. The band were just so connected and sending a great energy for everyone that stood there, waching them.
He came to you when he finished, not looking back, to give you a great hug "Did you just saw that? Wasn't it amazing?! I think i've never seen this place so crowded before. I'm feeling like a rockstar, a real one now"
"You were amazing my love! I saw how people got excited with you" you said giving him a tight hug "And don't say that, you are a real rockstar"
He looked at your face with a growing smile on his lips "I don't know what to say i'm..." he was giggling, nervous under your loving look.
"Don't tell me i got you all shy on me" you tesed him just making him laugh more "I guess that i'm just really happy to see you here tonight. Now we can hang..." He stoped talking looking around. His eyes were stuck on stage "Why are they still up there? Did i forget a song?" He said worried with wide eyes, walking in their way, but you stoped him.
"No, silly, you didn't forget anything. You stay here and watch your surprise, ok" You said laughing at his confusion. Even being super shy of crowds, you got up on stage saying hi to the guys "Good evening everyone! I came here to give you a little extra" the people applaused you giving you courage to keep going "Well you don't know but, today is the birthday of a really special person to me, the singer and guitarrist you just saw, which is my boyfriend by the way" A bunch of people cheered you just making you laugh "Well, the thing is that i'm going to sing for you, but especially for him! It's not metal, i'm sorry, but is a beautiful love song. I hope you enjoy"
You couldn't see much, just the crowd hyping you up. The guys started to play and the slow melody started to echo on the bar.
Eddie my love, I love you so
How I've wanted for you, you'll never know
Please, Eddie, don't make me wait too long
Since Eddie told you that he would play here, in his birthday, the ideia came into you head. At first, you thought that it would be too much, too corny, or maybe he would hate it. But you wanted to make that surprise. And it was also a chance to finnaly tell him, after months, that you trully loved him, and whats better then tell him through a song, right? Especially when there's his name on it!
Eddie, please, write just one line
Tell me your love is still only mine
Please, Eddie don't make me wait too long
You asked the guys if you could meet to rehearsal with you, but without telling Eddie. They agreed but it didn't took them too long to learn it and for you to sing it well. It was a little hard to lie to him though because every time he would call you, telling you he wanted to see you, you would be on your way to Gareth's house to rehearse.
You left me last September
Since that time I've been so alone
Now, all I do is wish and wait for you
Eddie, since you've been gone
People were slow dancing with their lovers or just aprecciating the song when you saw Eddie coming in front of the stage. His face were in shock. His eyes were shining more then ever, just looking up at you.
Eddie my love, I'm sinking fast
The very next day might be my last
Please, Eddie, don't make me wait too long
Eddie my love, I love you so
Everyone aplauded you -Thank god i didn't sound horrible- you thought to yourself. You turned around to thank the guys and when you were about to get off the stage, you saw Eddie climbing up towards you. When he stood in froont of you, speachless, you placed your hands on his cheeks. The place was so quiet, you could hear his rappid breathing.
"So? What do you think?" You asked nervous by his silence. It took a few moments for him to respond, as if he was studing you face, every little detail. "What? What do i... You're as... How..." You just laughed at his reaction
"Happy birthday." you whispered and smiled at him, very passionate. He gave you the same smile and then gave you a kiss in front of everyone. The way his lips touched yours and his hands around your body, holding you tight , you wish he could be there forever, just kissing you like that.
He stoped the kiss, unfortunately, and put his hands on your cheeks "That was the most beautiful, meaningful, wonderfully amazing thing someone did for me in my entire life... I couldn't be more greatful and happy to have you. I love you too" at this point you were crying and hugging each other. You even forgot you weren't alone when you heard the crowd cheering you again.
You got of the stage and now Robin was showing proudly the pictures she took from you and Eddie, fighting with Steve, as always, as he said it was his idea.
"I want to know every single detail about this plan of yours missy" Eddie said to you in a way that only you could hear  "And babe, DAMN, how come i didn't know you sang like an angel? That was so beautiful"
"So beautiful that he cried" Robin said and he flipped her the bird
"Really? You cried? It wasn't supposed to make you cry" you said putting a lock of hair behind his ear
“Don't worry sweetheart, they were happy and proud tears" You gave him another kiss.
You spent the rest of your night like this,  laughing with your friends, kissing and loving Eddie as much as you could.

Master List
Tumblr media
Change is universal, inevitable. No matter how hard you try to push it away, to forget, change will always follow. Change can be slow, barely noticeable until you peer into hindsight. But it can also be fast, like a predator pouncing on its prey.
We all experience change. From the clothes we choose to wear, to a star blinking out of existence. Growing up, my life wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t perfect either. I’ve experienced relative poverty, but also having unwavering support from family. I’ve experienced my mom choosing to nurse bottles of beer night after night, but I also witnessed her becoming sober.
Change will happen. There is no stopping it, no matter how hard humans try. But it’s people's choices that decide what that change will become. Whether it’s a good or bad change, or possibly something that doesn’t fit in that binary. My mother has made many bad choices, but it was an opportunity to make me a better person. Showing me what not to do to better myself.
But change will rock your boat. Like how my mom died suddenly, and I was put under the care of my estranged uncle. I suppose estranged is the wrong word. My mom and him were close. Until Uncle Hank lost his son. We tried to help, offer him support, but he pushed us away and turned to the bottle like my mother once did. So being under his care was like reliving those painful memories once more.
This night seemed to be particularly bad. In my last year of college, I was exhausted half the time. Trying to find a job, an internship, something to help get me out of what’s become a hell hole to me. I didn’t blame Uncle Hank, I can’t imagine losing a child. Yes I lost my mom, but her death was more of just a bitter feeling. I stopped caring for her when I believed she chose her addictions over me, and when she died I was just learning to love her again.
I was just on my phone, scrolling through social media before I turned in for the night. I felt myself calm when Uncle Hanks drunken shouts died down. I tried to ignore the sudden thud that soon followed, he probably passed out somewhere. I felt bad that I would avoid him, sober or not. But I don’t think I can handle looking him in the face.
About twenty minutes later, the doorbell rang, making me jump out of my skin at the abrupt sound. My heartrate picked up, wondering who could be visiting us at night? I heard a muffled shout, barely making out what he was saying, I heard the work title of my uncle. I let out a sigh, getting slightly irritated as the person held the buzzer down for a ridiculously long time. I just turned back to my phone, maybe if no one answered he’d realize it was a lost cause? Was it someone from Uncle Hanks' work? Someone who was unhappy with his work? Rolling my eyes at the thought, I wondered who wouldn’t be unhappy with his work. Things seemed to be peaceful once more. Well until the sound of a window breaking made my heart leap to my throat. My heart hammered as I heard the same voice try to soothe Sumo. I stared at my phone. This is when I call emergency services right?
I felt frozen as I heard the intruder shuffle and try to wake your uncle. Taking a deep breath, I dialed 911 and pressed the green call button before I could back down. Who knows what crazy person is in my house right now.
“911 what’s your emergency?”
“There’s someone in my house,” I whispered, blood rushing past my ears. I slowly got off my bed, looking for a place to hide, but wasn’t overly cliche.
“Do you know who it is?”
“No,” I replied. “They seem to know my uncle, Hank Anderson.”
“Are you and your uncle in a safe place?”
“I’m in my room,” I muttered, heart dropping as footsteps got closer to where I was. My eyes landed on my doorknob and I felt sick when I realized I didn’t even lock the fucking thing. “They’re coming-”
“Police are on the way,” The dispatcher alerted. “Please stay on the line, where’s your uncle?”
I quickly scurried under the bed, my breathing becoming erratic both from the small space of the underside of my bed, to how the footsteps stopped in front of my door.
“Strange,” The voice muttered, muffled behind my door. “It says the call is coming from this room.”
“Where is your uncle?” The dispatcher kept repeating but I quickly hung up. He knew, he knew I was calling 911. He knew where I was. My eyes shut tight, small desperate tears falling down my face when the door opened slowly. The squeak of the door made my heart pump faster in anticipation.
“Hello?” The man called out. I bit my lip, trying to stay as quiet as possible. “My name is Connor. Android sent by Cyberlife to assist with Lieutenant Anderson’s latest case. I apologize for scaring you.”
Opening my eyes hesitantly, I couldn’t stop the scream that escaped me as our eyes met. Jump scare much? I scrambled out from under the bed, the claustrophobia finally getting the better of me. I leaned against the wall, taking deep breaths before finally getting a look at the intruder, only for my breath to be taken away once more due to the beauty of the man, or I suppose android, that stood in front of me.
It wasn’t the best meeting of my uncles companion. Quite embarrassing actually. Especially when the next morning, he was sitting in the living room. I couldn’t help the double take I did, wondering if I should go back to my room or not.
“Good morning,” Connor greeted before I could do anything.
“Uh, good morning,” I greeted back, not sure what to do. I was somewhat confused. My uncle hated androids, so knowing he was working with one, no less letting one stay in his house, made me very confused. But instead of commenting on anything, I went to the kitchen. I decided to get myself something to drink, an excuse for leaving my room. I was too tired for this and I had to get ready for class.
Begrudgingly, I sat down on the couch, hoping he wouldn’t start incessant small talk. I didn’t hate androids, quite the opposite actually. I found them very interesting. I wanted to know how they worked, what their programming looked like, how they managed to replicate the human body so well. Since I grew up somewhat poor, we never owned an android, not that I fully agreed with owning something that seemed so human anyways. So my interactions were limited. It never failed to amaze me how lifelike androids were, and Connor seemed to take the cake.
His fingers tapped against his thigh, his gaze elsewhere. He looked so human, acted so human, the only reminder of him being an android was the spinning blue led on his temple. I wonder what he was thinking about, what he saw.
“I apologize for scaring you,” Connor spoke up, brown eyes meeting mine. I looked away, the eye contact making me uncomfortable.
I couldn’t help the awkward smile that fell on my lips, “You’re still on that? Its okay, I probably should’ve answered the door anyways.”
“I should’ve done more research on Lieutenant Anderson,” Connor rebuttled. “I would’ve changed my approach if I knew he was housing another person.” I glanced at him and I couldn’t stop the genuine smile, his eyes held an innocence that made me completely forgive him for the absolute heart attack he put me through yesterday.
“It’s kinda funny now that I think about it,” I chuckled lightly.
Connor’s brows furrowed lightly, confusion splayed across his features, “How so?”
I opened my mouth to explain, but paused, not exactly sure how to explain it, “I guess cus the situation was so absurd? It’s not everyday you become an acquaintance of someone you called the cops on.”
His led spun blue again, clearly thinking over my words, “I’m not sure I fully understand.”
I took a sip of my drink, not sure how I could make him understand, “I’m sorry, I’m not the best at explaining things.”
“It’s okay,” He replied, “Perhaps I will understand in the future.”
Checking the time, my eyes widened, wondering where all the time went.
“Shoot,” I muttered, standing up quickly and rushing to my room. I got dressed as quick as I could before grabbing my bag. “Bye Connor,” I waved to him on my way out. His departing words faint as I was already trekking to my car.
Soon, Connor became a comforting presence in the mornings. Once, I used to like getting ready alone, no one to bother me or make me cranky. But now…it was nice with Connor being there. In fact, I kinda looked forward to it.
“Hm?” I hummed out confused as Connor placed toast in front of me on the coffee table. I looked up at him confused.
“It is recommended for humans to eat a balanced meal in the morning,” Connor explained. “Unfortunately, I was unable to make anything but toast.”
I blinked, and suddenly I felt myself melt at the action. I smiled sheepishly, taking a slice, “Thank you Connor. This was nice of you.”
Every day Connor seemed to do something that would make my heart beat a little bit faster. I knew it was stupid. He was an android, he couldn’t feel, he didn’t care, he was only there to hunt deviants.
So why did he slightly smile when I told the lamest joke in the world? Why did he scold me when I didn’t take care of myself? Why did I catch his stare lingering, or how he’d come to me with questions that others refused to answer?
“I still don’t think our meeting is funny,” Connor said randomly one morning. I was currently house hunting. Having a steady income was a nice change of pace and I was excited to finally get a place of my own.
I glanced up at him, “Oh?”
Its been a few years since I met Connor and so much has changed. For one, androids had their freedom. Two, Connor ended up being my best friend, as he’d confide in me and I him. I had found a well paying job and things were finally looking up.
“In fact, I feel guilty when I think about it,” Connor frowned. His gaze fell on me, his eyes soft and he reminded me of a kicked puppy. “I wish I made a better impression.”
I rolled my eyes, “Connor, if anything, you made quite the impression. And besides, if I was really bothered by it we wouldn’t be friends now would we?”
“But-”
“No buts,” I interrupted. “People make mistakes, it’s apart of life. You grow, learn, and change from them. Besides, why don’t you apologize to uncle Hank about it? He’s the one that was really bothered by it.”
“Th-that’s different,” Connor rebuttled, leaning closer to me.
“How?” I asked, raising an eyebrow.
“He’s not you,” Connor breathed out.
There it was again. The common occurrence of my heart skipping a beat. Of my heart melting. Of me falling deeper than I already was. So deep in fact, that I’m not sure if I could crawl out of it anymore. The occurrence of Connor saying something so sickingly sweet that I was surprised my teeth didn’t fall out. Something so hopelessly romantic that I wanted to just confess all these overwhelming feelings. No matter how common this would happen, it would always leave me breathless, and a memory for me to rewind like a broken record.
I wasn’t sure how to reply, wondering what he meant by that. Did he mean in the way I was currently hoping he did? Or was it just because we were close friends? Was I looking to much into things? Why did Connor seem so desperate in this moment?
Our eyes met intensely. His brown eyes searching deeply within my own. I felt a certain tension fall over the room, or was that just me?
“Your special to me,” Connor confessed, saying my name in the same breath. “Different than anyone else I’ve met. You’ve cared for me, guided me, make me feel alive.”
I stared at him with batted breath. I couldn’t believe my own ears. Was he…confessing? Do I…confess my own feelings? Did he understand the weight his words currently held? That he was currently cradling my heart in his hands, and could crush it without even realizing it? His sweet, brown eyes once again seemed to be searching for something.
“Your special to me too, Connor” I whispered. “I’ve never felt as close to someone as I do you. I love making you laugh, even if my jokes are dog shit, I love seeing you smile, and I’m glad you trust me enough to confide even the smallest things.”
I thought I’d be anxious to confess my feelings outloud, but I felt at peace as his gaze was soft, dare I say adoring.
“You got to be kidding me,” I heard uncle Hank grumble as he passed by the living room. “You got a room for a reason kid, take the cheesiness elsewhere.”
I flustered, breaking the intense staredown Connor and I had held.
Ever since that conversation, I noticed that Connor seemed to be more affectionate. His hand would brush mine more often when he’d hand me something. He’d hug me more often, arms lingering longer than normal.
“Holy shit,” I grinned, eyes wide in disbelief. I just found a place and managed to buy it. I just had to give the down payment and I could move in right away.
Energy buzzed through me and I left my room to find Connor. Uncle Hank sat on the couch, his drinking habits have improved significantly. Connor stood a little farther away, hunched over a stove. He’d taken up the hobby of cooking, in fact he would pout when he couldn’t cook me something or if I’d already eaten.
I beelined towards the handsome android and hugged him from behind, “Guess what?”
“What?” Connor asked, cranning his neck to try and look at me.
Letting go, I stepped beside him, “I got my own house!”
His smile fell, before retaining a clearly fake smile, “That’s amazing to hear. When do you move?”
“Probably in the next week or so,” I replied, for some reason feeling…guilty.
His stare didn’t shift from the pan that sat ontop of the stove, his shoulders tense. I fidgeted with my fingers, unsure how to make the situation better.
“I’m proud,” He muttered, the words sounding forced.
“It’s going to be hard to keep up with my payments,” I said without even thinking. My heart beat faster as I surmised that it was too late to back up now. “It’d be nice to have a roommate to help lighten the load.”
I stared at the brown haired beauty from the corner of my eye as he seemed to piece together what I was hinting at. His gaze swept over to me and I almost choked at how hopeful he looked.
“I-I could help,” Connor stuttered excitedly. “I make more than enough at the precinct now…a-and I don’t mind sharing a living space with you.”
He reminded me of a golden retriever with how he always seemed to try and please me. The thought made me swoon. And only made me double my efforts in showing him I cared as well.
“Okay than,” I nodded. “Hopefully uncle Hank won’t mind-”
“Please!” Hank exclaimed. “Get the hell out of my house so I can finally rest in peace.”
Connor and I looked at each other before falling into a fit of laughter.
“I suppose that answers that question,” I teased with a grin. “Better start packing mister, we’ve got a house to start decorating.”
The sound of sizzling grew louder and Connor tried to save the meal he was making. Apologizing when it was burnt.
I let out an exasperated sigh, trudging up to Connor who stared at me concerned from the couch. I laid down, resting my head on his lap, frowning in frustration. Today was just a bad day and I wanted to cling to the one comfort I found consistent.
Connor didn’t hesitate to run his hand through my hair, soothing my touch starved self. I didn’t even realize I let out a hum of content at the contact. It was nice to share a space with Connor, not having to worry about uncle Hank walking around and making teasing comments.
“I got you a surprise…” Connor trailed off, his nails scratching my scalp in a pleasing manner.
“Is it a bad surprise?” I asked, wondering if he was buttering me up right now.
“I think you’d enjoy it,” He hummed. I opened my eyes and met his loving gaze.
“Do we have to get up?” I grumbled.
His smile was so soft, I just wanted to lean up and kiss him.
“I assure you it will be worth it.”
I froze when I heard a bark. I stared up at Connor in shock and he just gave me a smug grin. I scrambled up, running towards his room where the bark came from. I opened the door without second thought and a puppy barelled towards me, jumping up to meet me. A kitten trailed not too far behind, exploring the world around it.
A giddy smile rested on my face as I sat on the ground and pet the puppy. Connor joined me, petting the kitten that sniffed at him curiously. When my gaze met Connor’s, my heart stuttered as he was already staring at me with that goofy grin of his. I lept at him, embracing him but also making us fall down, startling our pets. I squeezed him as tightly as I could, and he held me firmly as well.
“I love you so much,” I confessed without even thinking. I froze, turning ridged in his hold. I tried to pull away but Connor only held me tighter.
“I…love you too,” He breathed out, nuzzling his face into the side of my neck.
Change will always happen. Where androids were once seen as emotionless slaves, they turned out to be complex beings, seeming more human than actual humans. When you thought that you’d never be close to an android, you ended up loving one. Things won’t always be perfect, as mistakes are a step of change, but as long as the intentions behind your choices are good, good is likely to follow. And you couldn’t be happier with the choices you made that led to this moment.

first date diary entry yippee yippeeee spoiler it was incredible and i want to see her again immediately
it was just. so so so good like i cannot believe how good it was. i got there before her and i was like. sweating with how nervous i was and i was wearing a jacket bc i wanted to wear a proper jacket but it was making me overheat. i was like tucked into this little nook so i wouldn't be in the way bc there were tons of christmas shoppers. and i saw her walk by on her way to the shop next door we'd said we'd meet at and it was like time slowed down i was just like. oh my god???? i'm going on a date with her???? i caught up with her and we just instantly started talking like we'd known each other for ages. she was wearing light blue jeans and a dark brown turtleneck jumper with a matching tote bag and this long black coat and she just looked so so good. ton of rings and you know how i feel about hands. we went into the shop to check out some makeup and then we walked over to where the escape room was.
we were talking outside while we waited for our slot and the chemistry was just so there like. i can't believe how well we got on immediately, there was no awkwardness. i was super anxious still but we just got on so so well. we went inside when it was our turn and there was this cute moment where we were putting our stuff in a locker and i was like i'm just gonna shove my jacket in this bit and she was like you are not and hung it up for me and i was like yes i like her. we went through the escape room and apparently the smallest number of people you should do it with is three so we'd fucked ourselves a bit and they gave us at least ten hints without us even asking because they saw how lost we were. i said to her with ten minutes left that i'd rather have a ton of hints and finish it than get the "unfortunately you were not able to escape" and she agreed so we got a few more hints and managed to finish it and it was sooo fun. we got some photos in the little throne they have at the staging area and i asked the person who'd done our orientation how many dates she thought we'd been on and she said three? and i was like hehehehe it's one and i was pleased hahahha
the christmas market was up and we were walking around trying to figure out where to go to eat, and we went to a few stalls. she got us these little german chocolate creamy things and i got her a little wooden mouse. technically i didn't actually because we watched the stall for the woman running it while she went to the bathroom and she was very grateful so she didn't charge us but i WOULD have. then we went to a restaurant and we asked to sit outside because inside was crowded and there was no one outside and it was just sooo romantic out there, they had little christmas trees and fairy lights and they put a heat lamp on for us so we didn't get cold. they forgot about us but we were talking so much we didn't properly notice until it'd been like. 45 minutes lmao so i went in and very nicely was like helloooo just checking you know we're out there and the waitress was like actually yes i did forget about you and came out to take our order. she was so sweet, she had this pink retro watch with a calculator and was showing it off to us. we got our food and i took so long to eat it bc i just couldn't shut up hahah. we talked about our exes because we've both recently had breakups and the things we learned from those relationships. then when we'd paid i had her mix up my rubik's cube so i could solve it for her because i'd sent her a video of me doing it before and she loved it and wanted me to bring the cube with me. her reaction was so cute, it was like i'd done a magic trick.
i walked her over to where she was getting the bus because i was going to get an uber, and she kept missing her bus because we were talking so much and i'd be like, is that your bus, and she'd be like yeah but i'll get the next one. eventually she was like, i'm gonna get a bus in half an hour, let's hang out more. we went to the park across the road and it had a massive play park. we wanted to go on the swings but they weirdly only had the supports for the swings and not the swings themselves. then i was gonna push her on the roundabout but it was BOLTED into the ground, it was a park of NOTHING. we ended up on this little gazebo thing and played the slap game with our hands and i wanted to kiss her so bad but i was so nervous. we went back over to the bus stop and she said her bus would be there in eight minutes, so i got over myself and managed to be like would you like to say goodbye with a hug or.......... and she was like go on. and i was like ORRRRR..... and she was like, i'm gonna make you say it. and i was like orakiss. and she asked what i want and i said i would like to kiss if she would and she said yes. and then i started panicking hahahaha and i said like even though you have literally told me you want to i'm like, what if you don't want to. and she just took my face in her hands and kissed me and i was like hhhhhh and i put my arms around her waist and like pulled her in more and like. she is such a good kisser like. perfect. every time she pulled back a little i'd be thinking no more more more and then when she finally pulled back properly my breath was all shaky and i just like. did a thumbs up and she laughed at me hahahahah. i ordered my uber and while we waited for it we looked up at where the stars should be because we were in the city and she had her arm like behind my back and i pressed in closer to her. i was so ready to just like. be all over her like i just wanted to be in physical contact and not let go.
i got my uber and when i got home we texted about how amazing it was and all our favourite parts and i just. jgjfjfjjfjfjf like i can't believe that happened to me? like. it was so romantic and perfect and just straight up like magical it was just. so wonderful and i have needed something like this in my life so badly
i also just realised that last night i dreamed she asked me out again for the next day and i obviously said yes and now i have to wait probably ages to see her again because of her work schedule BOOOOO BOOOOO

can we get some relationship head canons between dogday and angel? Who fell and confessed first? Going by your fic how would Angels friends react? Also maybe some spicy head canons if that's ok? Would dogday be a sub or Dom? How flirty is he? You can also add your own head canons too, I was just curious about what you think for those.
Absolutely! Also plz don't be shy about sending requests I love answering them! I'm very slow so I apologize! Also I have the worst memory so if I already mentioned something in this hc post I did in the previous ones. I'm just super forgetful, sorry!
Plz remember these are just my personal silly headcanons for fun :3
More dogday headcanons woo!
CW: MDNI a few mentions of some spicy stuff ahead, nothing super explicit but you've been warned!
Tumblr media
-Dogday most definitely fell first. He probably started falling for his angel once they gave him his legs back and from there it just snowballed.
-dogday is 100% confessing first. In subtle ways like staying by your side to protect you and helping around the house, lotssss of compliments, and probably being a bit more touchy with angel.
-If Angel doesn't get the hint, he'd just plan out a confession and an at home date with whatever you have.
-so going based on my fic, angel's friends/family would probably either be supportive or try to have some kind of intervention. There is no in between. That's either
“Wow, I'm happy for you!” (is happy you found someone who makes you happy but also slightly concerned)
Or
“Wow, you should really find someone else anyone else, plz we're begging!”
(Is actually VERY concerned / calling the nearest hospital and government officials. )
-Soft Dom dogday anyone?
(Ngl I could probably see Ethan being like “I'm happy pookie but what the actual f*@k is wrong with you?” but just smiling through his state of panic💀)
-If vanilla isn't the type of fragrance you're a fan of or want to wear that day, he will have a collection of fragrances that he likes (and totally didn't buy with our card while you were sleeping) and will douse you in before you step out.
-he's touchy, he just loved the feeling of having his angel in his hands.
-If you have to go out, he'll try to rub his scent all over you and will say it's "just a hug".
-he would want you to wear something with a sun on it, whether it be a necklace, choker, ring, hair clip, orange scrunchie, tattoo, whatever it is, it doesn't matter as long as it's orange or has a sun on it. He can't be there wherever you go so why not take something that reminds you of him? Totally not his way of marking you of course!
-depending on what his angel is into, he'd probably be super hesitant to be rough or say anything degrading, I'd say he leans more into vanilla because of fear but if you're into it and are vocal about it then don't expect him to stop anytime soon if you're enjoying yourselves.
-praises you for how good you're doing. You're really his angel in more ways than one, especially when you're so obedient for him. How could he not praise you? You most definitely deserve all the praise and another round gift.
-on a scale from 1-10 he'd be like a 5 on the flirtyness scale, but would go into a 7, once he starts he won't stop and would most definitely become putty in your hands if you flirted back.
-he would crack dark jokes at the worst times, and he'd probably make some pretty bad normal ones too. A silly guy once he's comfortable around angel and would do anything to make you laugh, even if he had to embarrass himself.
-You're sad? Haha nope not anymore. Look! He's singing while doing cartwheels and failing miserably!
-Was a good cook as a human. He would try to help out in the kitchen and knock some stuff over in the process. To avoid making a mess he'd just hand you the ingredients or utensils.
-He would also try to remember how his favorite meals tasted so he could make and share them with angel.
-not sure if I mentioned this in the past hc posts BUT I could see him wanting to have some sort of wedding to make things “as official as possible”. He'd also want to pick out rings and would wear his ring on a necklace chain, never to be taken off. He doesn't have a need to anyways.
-At some point he has thought of what living as his former self would be like and what your lives together would have looked like. He would bring it up eventually in hopes of taking that weight off of his heart. Of course he's happy with you and what you have now. Doing things together no matter how small or insignificant they may seem they mean the entire world to him. Sometimes he can't shake the thought of how different life could've been though. (We still love him either way <3)
-he would pull the "your husband" card 100%. Need help reaching a high shelf?
"Your husband's got it!"
-he'd be so happy about it too.
-silly, but if someone's looking for you, and you're not home (probably a delivery man or person who stumbled upon your house) he'd most definitely answer from behind the door.
“He's a nice fellow! Take care!”
*delivery man knocks on the door and you answer*
“I came by earlier, but your husband said you weren't home to sign, here you go!”
*you blink in confusion and start to panic*
“Y-you met him!?”
*dogday creeps up behind you and laughs*
“I heard you have a husband. I wonder who he could be…”
A/N: that's all for now! Im glad you guys enjoy my silly stories and headcanons! I do appreciate you all! thanks for reading! 🐇

ok yeah I'll bite what the fuck was Diane's problem because holy SHIT
What The Fuck WAS Diane's Problem, indeed. I lost contact with her since I quit that hellhole, and I'm not sorry. (Please picture a petite, thin, golden-blonde white woman around age 50 wearing high-end boho/athleisure clothes.) But her Fun Quirks included:
being like. weirdly dedicated to our crappy retail job at a company run by a former real estate bro. we sold fancy stone tableware and got commission, so she would hang around after her shift in case someone she'd talked to earlier came back to buy. to make sure SHE got the commission from the sale. we each had individual passcodes for the register, so she could clock out at the correct time and still get sales credited to her. a few times she got mad at me for "stealing" her sale (read: ringing someone up who she'd previously talked to, like an hour into my shift)
pushiness. EXTREME pushiness. she had amazing sales numbers, probably because she wouldn't take no for an answer. I once saw her chase a man down who had walked away from the shop, because she'd chatted with him but he hadn't bought anything. she chided me for "letting him walk away" afterwards
toxic positivity. I once commented, during a shift change, that the market where we worked seemed slow that day. with a big sweet smile, she told me to NEVER say that because we needed to be giving off positive energy that we'd get lots of sales. um. okay
as previously mentioned, being super-pumped at the idea of our boss taking our stool away and mad when I pointed out that that was, how you say, literally illegal in our state (because "nobody needs to be sitting; it doesn't look welcoming!")
her email was something like [email protected]. very business-y. I asked what her other job was. turns out that was just her personal address; she didn't have a business or a side gig or anything
She let everyone think she was a manager. We didn’t have a manager; just the owner and the salespeople.
She tried to gaslight me into thinking she had been there as long as I had (she hired on a year after me) and therefore had seniority. Again, none of us had power over each other
the stealing from the register thing, which was just bizarre. at 23, working my second post-college job, I was desperately trying not to get in trouble; at 31 I would stand my ground more. In short: the exact amount I’d taken in cash went missing a few hours into my shift, when Diane was hanging around as usual. She knew where we hid the register key when we went to the bathroom, nobody would have looked askance at her rooting around in the stall, and when I called her panicking after mid-shift drawer count, she was ADAMANT that I must have forgotten to take the cash from all three customers who had paid me that way.
To the point where, when I called the boss to report the incident and hesitantly said “I think I might have forgotten-“ she barked at me “NO. YOU KNOW. YOU KNOW THAT’S WHAT HAPPENED. YOU DON’T THINK; YOU KNOW.”
I did not fucking forget to take cash from three separate customers and if this happened today, her response would raise a huge red flag for me
There was no camera on the register area so I could never prove anything. But money went missing from the drawer “overnight” after two other people’s shifts, who hardly seemed like thieving types, and Diane was all too ready to cluck over their alleged crimes. And since she was always gunning for more shifts…I don’t know. It was just very weird.
She ultimately got her wish when almost everyone else quit- and then became burned-out by manning the stall single-handedly. Womp womp.

Boy, when you're with me, I'll give you a taste~ Make it like your birthday everyday! I know you like it sweet, So you can have your cake~ Give you something good to celebrate!
Tumblr media
June 21, this Wednesday, was Hinata Shoyo's birthday.
"And today is... Tuesday the 13th," You mutter quietly, working things out in your head.
Eight days until your boyfriend's special day.
You smile to yourself, "I can do this."
"Baby! I'm hoooome!" Shoyo calls out, slipping off his shoes by the door, "baby?" he peers around curiously at no response.
"Sho!"
His face automatically brightens at the sound of your voice, immediately dropping his sports bag and anything else he was holding as his partner leaps into his arms, "I missed youuuu."
"I missed you tooooo!" He lowers you back onto the ground, peppering your face in an abundance of tickling kisses.
Despite his aching calves and sore shoulders, he smiles gleefully at the sight of his love, always happy to see you at the end of the day, "How was your work?"
"It was busy, as usual. But I think things are going to start slowing down now, thank god. How was training?"
"Tiring," Shoyo lets out an exaggerated sigh, eyes closed dramatically before he props one open again, "but I feel better now that I've seen you." He grins cheekily.
You roll your eyes, scoffing playfully, "You saw me this morning."
"But that was ages ago~" He whines, clinging onto you as you make your way into the kitchen, "I wanted to see you at lunch but Atsumu dragged us all out instead."
"I was working anyway," You laugh.
Shoyo pouts, "I just wanted to say hi..."
You can't help but shake your head fondly at his light hearted compaints, patting him on the arm.
"It's okay—you're here now, love. Now go pick up your bag and have a shower, I don't wanna be tripping over it later."
"Yes, Captain!" He does as he's told with a goofy grin, giving you one last kiss on the cheek before bounding away happily.
"Oh, Sho?" He obediently whips back around at your call, "is there anything you want to do this week? Or... anything you want in general?"
He blinks with wide eyes. A blank slate.
"Mmm, nope! Not really. Oh! I have been meaning to refurbish the soles on my training shoes though, I keep putting it off..."
"That's not--" You brush it off, "ah, nevermind. But... aren't you forgetting something?"
"Oh, right!" A spark ignite in you as Shoyo perks up, only for him to bounce over to you to give you a big smooch with a giggle, "thanks for preparing dinner, baby," before turning back around to do as earlier requested.
You watch him leave the room with a half-turned smile and hot cheeks, hearing him hum a little tune as he does so.
Your smiling eyes down turn ever so slightly when you notice him massaging the muscle of his right shoulder where his bag strap sat; no doubt already sore from his practice.
A soft but determined breath leaves your lips as you look back at the calendar hanging on the wall.
"Mission: birthday week, begins tomorrow!"
Tumblr media
Day 1, Wednesday 14 - 7 days until Shoyo's birthday!
Shoyo groans, cracking a reluctant eye open at the sound of his alarm going off—four forty-five in the freaking morning. His coach wanted the team there by six-thirty, but someone complained about it (its too early for him to remember who) so it was changed to five instead. He was naturally an early riser, so usually he wouldn't have any complaints anyway, but recently things had been taking a toll on him.
He blinks tiredly as he turns off the noise maker, vision blurry as he pats the bedding beside him to feel for a certain someone. He frowns, only feeling the cold empty covers. "Mm, baby...?"
"Sho~" He perks up at the sound of his name, sitting up and rubbing his eyes. He blinks slowly as his eyes clear up, revealing the smiling face of his beloved holding a tray of food, "good morning, sunshine." Your greeting results in a bright smile from him too.
He tilts his bedhead at you.
"What're you doing up so early? Did you get called in to work?" He subconsciously licks his lips at the sight of the breakfast tray. You giggle at his expression and place it in his lap, motioning for him to eat up.
"No, I just thought you should get a good meal in since you have to head in earlier today."
"Wow! This looks so good!" His eyes sparkle, tiredness disappearing in an instant, "you made all of this?"
You nod.
"Yeah, I've pack you lunch and some money in case you want to buy meat buns later as well," You smile as he eagerly picks up his utensils and begins to eat, "I know Bokuto likes to steal them off of you."
He swallows some of his food, "Mm, eat with me!" He frowns as you shake your head, and you holds back the urge to coo and squeeze at his cheeks when he pouts.
"No, thanks Sho," You giggle at his disgruntled features, "it's for you."
"But I wanna share it with you!" He scoops some rice onto his spoon with his chopsticks, adding a small piece of grilled salmon on top.
"Pleeeeaaaaase?"
His large honey-brown eyes tug a string in your heart, and you sigh in defeat. 'If that's what he wants...' You smile softly.
"Alright then." You snort as the tangerine lets out a shout of happiness ("YOSH!!") before opening your mouth for him to feed you.
You flush under his intense gaze, nodding your head and covering your mouth with your hand as you chew, "mm, it's gwood."
"I know," He beams proudly, "my partner made it for me." Shoyo's smile brightens at the sound of your laughter.
Day 2, Thursday 15 - 6 days until Shoyo's birthday!
Your shoes pitter patter along the polished floor of the corridor, a skip in your step as you turn a corner. Your features brighten at the sound of shoes squeaking and muffled shouts reverberating through the double doors ahead.
You eagerly pick up your pace.
Clutching the neatly wrapped bento box close, you quickly reach into your pocket and click on your phone. Checking the time, you nod to yourself with an affirmative 'hmph!' before reaching for the door.
A whistle is heard from behind the barrier, a muffled voice calling out, "Alright! Take a break. Back in an hour!"
"Hai!"
'Ah, so I'm right on time,' You rap your knuckles on the door, 'good job me!'
You push open the door.
"Ohayo!" Your greeting earns you many head turns, and your wave at the familiar faces that you see.
"Oya?" Bokuto spins around curiously before smiling, "Hey hey hey, [name]! Long time no see!"
"[name]-san." Sakusa greets briefly with a nod.
"Mm, mm!" Atsumu waves her over from the side, drinking from his water bottle.
"Eh? [name]?" Shoyo blinks, clutching a volleyball in his hands. He turns his head and visibly brightens at the sight of you; a wide smile spreads across his face and he drops the volleyball, letting bounce and roll on the ground as he dashes over, "baby!"
He almost tramples you in his excitement, giving you a sweet kiss before grabbing your hand and leading you over to the side bench.
"What are you doing here?" He asks before stiffening, "I-I mean, not that I don't appreciate it or anything—I'm actually really glad you're here, I didn't get to say goodbye to you properly this morning and—"
"Sho?" He keeps rambling, "Shoyo? Baby!" You finally get his attention again, hand placed on his cheek to hold him still.
A giddy feeling wells up inside you as Shoyo's eyes meet yours, a large blush covering his cheeks. "It's okay," you laugh, and he smiles back at you, "I came to bring you lunch."
The human tangerine glances down at the wrapped up bento box in your other hand, "What is it?"
You hand it to him, watching as he undoes the bow, the fabric falling back, and revealing the enclosed contents of the lunchbox through its transparent lid, "I made you your favourite."
The man's face lights up.
"Really!? Tamago gohan?! YES!" He bounces up happily, almost dropping the bento box, "Thanks, baby!"
"Anything for the rest of us?" Shoyo narrows his eyes as Bokuto bowls on over, slinging an arm around his partner's shoulders with a grin, "man, you're cooking is amazing!"
"Shrimpy here will share, right?" Atsumu smirks at the shorter male, ignoring the fact that he was silently blowing a fuse.
Noticing your boyfriend's eyes piercing the arm around your shoulders, you laugh and push it off, "Sorry guys, but my Shoyo comes first. I'll make something next time though."
You give him a hug to ease his angry pout.
"Aw, hell yeah!" The owl haired male fist pumps, high fiving Atsumu victoriously before jogging away.
You laugh at the sulking pout still adorning your Shoyo's face, "Don't worry, Sho. You don't have to share your lunch with anyone."
Day 3, Friday 16 - 5 days until Shoyo's birthday!
Fridays through to Sundays were rest days for the MSBY team; as athletes, they needed to train often, however, if they didn't rest they would risk heavy injury in the future.
Three days seemed a bit much for a few of them. But more often than not they either met up or did individual training to stay on track, wherein the remaining days they would take it easy.
This time, you suggested to Shoyo that you two do something fun for a day out, like go to the beach. Already excited before you even finished piping the idea to him, your boyfriend very readily agreed.
"Whaaa, this is so cool!" Shoyo exclaims, dropping everything under the beach umbrella. He hears you giggling behind him as you move around, laying out the towels and opening your bags.
"It is a nice day, isn't it?" You use your hand to shield your eyes from the ever burning sun, looking out towards the ocean. It wasn't too windy, but there a few good waves. Your loose cover up blows along with the breeze.
"It isn't too busy either--that's good!"
Shoyo nods along happily, ruffling his already fluffy hair as he eyes the shoreline, "Hey, do you think we could-" He lets out a noise of shock as he turns his head, spotting you slipping off your cover up to reveal your swim wear.
He swallows as a large blush races across his cheeks, eyes running up and down your form unabashedly "I-I, uh, um... b-baby..!"
'O..-Oh no..! I'm a... PERVERT..!"
"Have you seen the sunscreen?" You ask distractedly, dropping the cover up onto a towel as you search through one of the bags.
Shoyo snaps himself out of his stupor, smacking himself in the face with a gulp as he speedily reaches into the bag closest to him, pulling out said item in question.
"UM! I-I'VE GOT IT!" He clears his throat, "let.. let me help you..! Please?"
"Sure. Thanks, love." You smile at him, causing his brain to short circuit.
Turning around, you sit with your back towards your flustered boyfriend, who practically self combusts.
'WHAAAAAAAAAA I'M SO LUCKY!!' His inner self weeps with gratitude to the gods above.
Opening the cap, he gently applies the sunscreen to the open skin on your back, massaging gently.
His hands are slightly calloused, proof of all of his hard work, but it feels nice nonetheless. His face reddens when you let out a noise of contentment. His actions slow, but he continues to rub your back as his head leans down, heat radiating from him in embarrassment.
If you looked at him now you'd think he was already sunburnt.
He looks up shyly, admiring you while you remain oblivious to his fluster.
'My baby's so pretty...' He bites his lip bashfully, hands coming to a stop at your lower back. You straighten up slightly.
"Oh, are you done?" You move to turn around, "I can do yours if you want—"
"I CAN'T HANDLE IT!" Shoyo topples you over, pressing you down against the towel as he leans over you, arms either side of your head.
"Y-You're too gorgeous!" He almost seems to pout at that, face flushed red.
You blink up at him, cheeks growing warm, "S-Sho..?" He frowns, lips pursed--he looks like a kicked puppy.
"I don't..." He lowers his voice, almost mumbling, "I don't want anyone else to look at you..."
You smile up at him awkwardly in your own fluster.
"I'm only here for you, sunshine," You reassure, wrapping your arms around his neck and bringing him into a kiss. He trembles at your touch, embarrassment overwhelming him as he suddenly realises your position.
"W-Wait, baby...!"
Day 4, Saturday 17 - 4 days until Shoyo's birthday!
"It's too far!" You puff out, hands on your hips as you fight for your life, "when I said I'd help you train I didn't mean I'd actually do it with you."
"We've barely started," Shoyo grins, "come oooon! We can stop at the park on the way!"
"No, I love you, but I can't run, Sho."
He laughs, "What if we get ice cream later?"
You wave him off, "I can get that anyway."
"What if I carry you?"
"You can't carry me and run, Shoyo," You still heave for your precious air--never again will you take it for granted--fanning yourself. Your boyfriend raises an eyebrow.
"Is that a challenge?!" His eyes widen with a mischievous sheen.
"What? No, no. Sho—SHOYO!" You squeal when your plucked up and forced to shift onto his back for a piggyback ride.
"C'mon, baby! This'll be fun! Plus, I get to show you how strong I've gotten!"
...Admittedly, you do drool over the feel of his muscles at work.
Day 5, Sunday 18 - 3 days until Shoyo's birthday!
"Shoyo?" You look up at your boyfriend sleepily, only feeling his grip tighten on you. You shuffle closer to him under the bed covers, hearing him sigh peacefully at the feeling of you pressed against him.
"Are you—" You yawn, "—doing any training today?"
The orange haired male slowly blinks himself awake, glancing at the sunlight seeping through the cracks of their closed blinds.
"Mm, no..." He nuzzles into you, "I just wanna sleep in today..."
You smile softly, "Alright," you press your lips to his, the man humming in response, "rest well, sunshine."
He hugs you tighter.
"You're the best. I love youuu~."
"Mm, I love you too, Sho."
Day 6, Monday 19 - 2 days until Shoyo's birthday!
Another long day of training for the tangerine, and he couldn't wait to see his special someone when he got home. Even his teammates asked if he was doing alright, in which he responded he was fine, though his tender muscles and tired eyes said otherwise.
"Welcome home~" You greet him as soon as he opens the door, concern flickering in your eyes as you immediately notice his off demeanor.
"How are you feeling?"
He beams at you.
It wasn't fake, or an attempt to cover up his exhaustion—but simply his heart shining through.
Seeing you always gave him an extra boost.
"Everything's great! We had a practice match today, so I'm a little tired is all. How about you?" He sags into your touch with a contented sigh.
"I'm good, love. I just got started on dinner," You give him a quick peck on the lips, "how about you go take a bath—don't worry about helping me cook, I've got it handled.'
"Are you sure?" Shoyo makes his way into the bedroom, placing his sports bag by the end of the bed, "what about you? You're not gonna join me?"
You giggle at him, shaking your head, "No, Sho. But, uh, if you want," your face flushes with warmth and you dart your eyes away unsurely, "I... could give you a massage after dinner?"
You panic as Shoyo freezes and turns red, "I DON'T MEAN ANYTHING BY IT! J-JUST TO HELP YOU FEEL BETTER!"
A sigh escapes you, "I've noticed how sore you've been after practice recently, so... I though I might be able to help..?"
His eyes soften, and he places a light kiss on your forehead to ease your embarrassment, "Sure! I don't mind."
You smile at him, bouncing on your heel excitedly, "Great!" you slow, clearing her throat awkwardly, "I'll, uh... I-I'll go get dinner ready. Eheh."
Shoyo watches fondly as you scurries away, a loving curve to his lips.
Day 7, Tuesday 20 - 1 day until Shoyo's birthday!
The tangerine haired male huffs out a tired sigh, seating himself on the side bench while he takes a swig of water from his bottle. He didn't get to see you properly this morning since you seemed to be up and running from the crack of dawn.
You'd cooked him a quick breakfast in bed again, though you couldn't join him this time since you had a few errands to run. Selfishly, he wanted to grab you and sit you down next to him so you would get a meal in as well, but he knew he'd get in trouble by you if he did.
Although he almost had you by giving you his classic puppy eyes, but you managed to escape it.
This time.
Just barely.
He hums to himself in thought.
'Man, [name]'s been extra nice this week... I mean, they're always nice and do these things every now and then, but it feels like they've been SUUUUPERRR nice.' He smiles, face tinted pink, 'I'm so lucky~'
"Hey! Shrimpy!" He looks up to see Atsumu already back on the court after his water break, "come hit a few sets for me, will ya?"
"Alright!" Shoyo stands up, stretching his arms over his head and awing at the lack of soreness in his muscles, "whaa, that massage really worked, huh?" He mumbles under his breath.
About to step back onto the court, he stops whenhe hears his phone ping on the bench, "hm?"
A small smile rests on his lips at the contact name.
It was you. He unlocks his phone to read your message.

His smile widens. 'I really am lucky.'
Wednesday 21 - Shoyo's Birthday!
Aaaand another long day of training it was for Shoyo.
What was weird though was that some of his teammates were rather skittish during practice too—namely Bokuto and Atsumu. Bokuto was awfully giggly whereas the latter kept sending him cheeky looks--although Sakusa couldn't seem to care any less. He was a little agitated at the duos extra hype.
To make things even harder though, and with everyone eager to get home, they all made a bet in which the loser would stay behind to pack up all the volleyballs—they worked together to put the nets away, and the floors were mopped--but no one seemed to have the energy to gather all of the balls scattered around the gymnasium.
A bet which Shoyo unfortunately lost, and the others spared no pity and left him to lock up as well.
Upset that he would be home a little later than usual, he sent you a quick text about the change in time so you wouldn't worry.
So after another thirty minutes of cleanup (one of the balls got stuck between the bleachers) he finally locked up and left for home.
The whole day had been a bit... odd. It just felt like something was off.
Oh well.
"Baby?" Shoyo calls out from the door, "I'm hooome!"
He frowns at the lack of response, stomach dropping at the fact that all the lights were off as well.
Worry begins to boil in the pit of his stomach, "Baby?"
He drops his bag by the door, not bothering to slip off his shoes as he rushes into the darkness. He winces, hitting his thigh against the corner of (presumably) the kitchen counter before reaching the living room.
His eyes slowly adjust to the dark, and he begins to see figures moving about. He prepares himself to launch the decorative vase on his left.
"[name]!?"
He flicks on the light.
"SURPRISE!"
He jumps back as a chorus of voices hit his ears. He blinks at the sight in front of him; a large group of his friends scattered throughout the room, a large happy birthday banner dangling from one end of the ceiling to the other along with a series of streamers and balloons.
He spots a pile of gifts by one side of the couch, and a heap of snacks and drinks set atop the coffee table.
"Happy birthday, Sho!" Shoyo zones in on the figure in front of him, a smile of refrained excitement on they're face.
"Baby?"
"Hi," You grin at him, "you've been working yourself a lot lately, and you still make time for me even though you're tired after training. So, I though... why not surprise you for your birthday?"
You open your arms toward him.
Shoyo tears up, "Babyyyy...!" He bolts into your embrace, laughing gleefully alongside you when you stumble before catching your footing.
"That's what this week's been about?!" You laugh at his sudden realisation, "[name], you're so cool!"
"Aw," You giggle, "I'm glad, sunshine."
"Oi," You break away from your embrace, turning to see a familiar blueberry resembling friend, "happy birthday, stupid."
Kageyama greets, the smallest of smile on his face before he scoffs and rolls his eyes when Shoyo awes obnoxiously.
"Kageyama!" The tangerine launches himself towards said male, who tries (and fails) to dodge him.
"Get—Get off me, idiot!"
"And Nishinoya-senpai? Tanaka-senpai?" Shoyo beams at the sight of his old teammates, "Suga-san? Daichi-san!?" Everyone gives their own greeting and wishes him happy birthday, "Yamagichi? even Tsukishima!?"
"Don't think this means anything." The blonde huffs.
"I'm here because [name] asked. But happy birthday anyway, I guess."
"Be nice, Tsukki."
"Whatever, Yamaguchi."
Shoyo scans his eyes around the room once more, spotting old rivals and whatnot as well. He sees Kuroo and Kenma alongside Lev, Inouka and Yaku, and Akaashi, and Osamu and Suna, and Oikawa and Iwaizumi, and Aone—and the rest of the MSBY team.
So that's why they all scurried off so quick.
He shakes his head, laughing to himself.
Turning around, he notices you immersed in a conversation with Asahi, Kiyoko, and Yachi. There were people everywhere!
He grins to himself, all worries and stress on his shoulders suddenly lifting—and he feels fully energised for the first time in weeks.

"Bye!"
"Thanks for coming!"
"See you later, guys!"
"Oh yeah, happy birthday bro!"
"Man, that was fun..."
"Night everyone!"
"See you! Thanks everyone!" The couple wave goodbye to their last few visitors, reaching the end of the party.
"Ah, it was nice seeing everyone again, that's for sure." You breathe out, hands lax on your hips.
"Definitely," Shoyo nods.
He smiles at you gratefully, eyes crinkling, "I can't believe you did all that for me."
"I can't believe you forgot your own birthday," You giggle, playfully flicking his forehead, "I'm glad you had fun. I know you've had a hard time the past few weeks, so I wanted to help you feel better."
You squeal when he launches at you, peppering your face with kisses.
"You're so sweet!" He lets out a sudden gasp, "oh! I know! It's my birthday, right?"
Shoyo grins, a glint in his honey brown eyes when nod with an unknowing hum, "know what would make it even better...?"
You raise a bemused brow, shrugging, "I dunno, what?"
"If I could open my present."
You perk up, glancing over your shoulder at the pile of gifts by the couch, "Oh, that's right! Come, sit over here—"
Shoyo grips you by the waist, stopping you in your tracks.
"Eh?"
He's quick to spin back around to face him.
"No, baby, not those ones--" He beaming grin curls into something a little cheekier, ears tinted red as he gets a little handsy, feeling up your sides.
His eyes flick down past your face to your stomach, trailing up your torso and chest before settling on your lips. A hand slips past the hem of your shirt, and he slides a leg between yours as he starts backing you towards the couch.
"--this one."
Your breath hitches in your throat as his eyes dim.
Oh.
Your heart drops excitedly when his tongue traces over your lips, his touch growing a little less innocent with each heated kiss.
Oh.
