Tumblr media
The term "building erector" recommends somebody that is involved in big industrial projects, and thus is used to taking care of a relatively high degree of danger. The good building erector prepares very carefully, funds his job wisely, and carries out procedures efficiently to make the most of the likelihood of success. Proprietors that need to employ professionals in this area are naturally wanting to of discovering prospects that display these crucial top qualities, since the stakes are high and they are being hired to determine somebody with whom they can put confidence and trust.
Evaluating a building erector thus ends up being a vital preliminary step in the direction of deciding, and is possibly fraught with pitfalls. To make the procedure as unbiased as possible, we recommend very first establishing a list of requirements that the proprietors determine are one of the most essential. Most likely first on everyone's list need to be the professional's well-known experience, both with commercial-grade and large-scale building and construction in general and with the framework types (steel or concrete, e.g.) being considered; obtaining evaluations from former customers could additionally confirm vital.
One could likewise wish to analyze just how varied the specialist's experience is. As an example, taking care of building and construction from scratch to finish, refurbishing an existing center while inhabited, and making lessee renovations for brand-new passengers are all usual project kinds that establish and/or hire different collections of abilities. Rank the relevance to you of specific skills such as good interaction with customers and owners, capability to reassess swiftly, or breadth of network contacts.
Also take into consideration the candidate's experience with various sorts of customers. There's a pretty sharp difference between the private sector and federal government (public) customers. Concentration in one location stays clear of spreading oneself too thin, whereas direct exposure to diverse customer types could reinforce relational skills.
If your project involves metal framing, consider the service provider's technique. One way is to build every little thing onsite, carrying out the design from scratch straight from the strategies. Another way is to take advantage of pre-engineering and advanced tools by putting together frame sections in the shop, and afterwards transferring them to the website for last assembly.
Neither approach has an integral benefit over the other, but by evaluating numerous variables one can determine the much better selection in a specific instance. This can be illustrated by exploring a range of metal building erection kinds.
Take into consideration the airplane hangar, usually made from steel, which offers the high tensile stamina required for large, open spaces. The hangar layout is pretty standard; so, pre-engineering and onsite erection are similarly reliable. In various other transportation sectors the needs are comparable, with metal being the product of option and both framing methods being equally viable.
Some companies might require open space though not always the elevation demands of hangars, such as reusing, making, and food processing. Others (e.g., warehousing and distribution centers) may require elevation and big room, but not so open that one can not make use of assistance frameworks. Below, the intricacies of the framing style and/or the specified resistances may point to one method over the other.
After experience, there may be numerous second requirements on your listing for selecting a contractor, maybe finest phrased as questions. Do you want a person who can handle both the layout and building stages of the job? Or, perhaps somebody that can provide services past the building elements, such as license handling, lien launch, or funding? buildings erectors
The take-away from this write-up is that diligence and comprehensive homework will certainly result in a high level of confidence in your option. Don't rush, and discuss the search with as many other people you can. Our guidelines give an excellent beginning point towards finding the building erector that motivates trust fund and self-confidence.

Tasting Notes
Saturday night in the Underground. On the surface world the week’s snow was melting, but none of that concerned us cellar dwellers. I had prepared for the day by taking several naps, but I wasn’t feeling all that great. I wasn’t really tired, but was hazy and light-headed. I spent a little time rotating some new records into the crates, pulling some of the new acquisitions in, taking some of the overplayed/unsuccessful titles out. The load feels heavier all the time. Imagine how much “easier” this would be as a 7” single DJ – well, not exactly easier, but lighter.
I envy the people who plan their sets in advance as much as the laptop DJs, but neither approach is a fit with my skill set, which works for me: having more records than I will use, and choosing from those based on the situation in place, and what I feel is working.
I got going, found a good parking space, rolled down wet but clear sidewalks, down the elevator, and rolled to the booth. Bar is not crowded. Will is there. Tavis and CP behind the bar, Brando at the door. No CyberJewel. No chair to put my LP crate on. Will gets me one. I put the booth back in order. I’m 50 seconds late starting. I use one of my usual openers, Wire’s “Ahead,” which starts things off with a simulation of bell sounds, which I like to use to announce that the program has changed. I have several records like this, but am always looking for more. The opening song is the key to the whole set, in my opinion.
I feel off, I’m fighting with the sound, trying to get things to sound even and seamless, and I have varying degrees of success with this. I’m trying to expand my technique, which is resolutely old school radio/club presenter style. Cutting out intros, beat matching, seamless segues. I want things to flow together in a way that may only make sense to me, but sound good. Some of it worked, some of it didn’t. I’ve been trying to learn to use headphones for more than just cueing records. It’s hard. I learned to use house sounds in my formative DJ years, and it’s proving to be useful tonight, because I am fighting with system volume. CyberJewel shows up to work and gets the sound situated, my backdrops set, and brings me an Athletic to go with the one Tavis supplied earlier.
Nicky Mustard, Grace Horror and Alex Speedway are there right after 9. They are there to give a nod, play some Centipede and take in the scene. I threw in a bon bon for Nick, the Buzz Martin classic “Sick Of Settin’ Chokers,” in a particularly jarring place. I followed that with another PNW staple, “Lump” by The Presidents of the United States of America. Nick was about to leave, and he came up to the booth to tell me that he and Alex had a conversation about how I would follow that up, how they couldn’t think of a way out of that puzzle, and that they never in a million years would have expected the record I played next: “The Metro” by Berlin.
It brings up a point about my methodology. I’m not just playing disparate things to be clever. I have no idea why putting those three records together would work. It just made sense to me.
A rush of people come through the door, and suddenly the place is filled. They are super loud, and just like that we are busy. A couple of guys approach the booth, and I steel myself for the “Do you take requests” query, but they instead comment on my Mariners gear and talk baseball.
My step-third-nephew Isaiah shows up with his person Toshi. So nice. They stay a little bit, play a few games, and head off to dinner.
I had a couple punk rock sets mixed in, but I also played Foghat. For nearly the first time since I got in the booth I didn’t play ZZ Top. I left a lot of usuals out. The Sleaford Mods’ new record, a cover of Pet Shop Boys’ “West End Girls,” I left at home, because I couldn't find where I put it. I left the PSB out in solidarity (j/k). I wanted to do things differently, and I didn’t feel like it fit. I played a second predominantly guitar-oriented set after CyberJewel asked me to play some stuff that will liven her up. That’s how I got The Vibrators into the tracklist.
Tumblr media
It’s glaringly obvious to me that I have no control of my library. I’m just not sure it’s a bad thing. It keeps things interesting, I’ll say that. I kept finding things I wanted to play in the search for the Mods record – the Teardrop Explodes single “Treason,” for instance. My library is so unkempt I discover things hidden in it that I had forgotten I had. Of course, I’m partial to whatever I find, because I accumulated it in the first place, so I’m already predisposed. But it reminds me of my more social youth, where I would wander over to the host’s music collection and occupy myself playing their records for the party. I serve a similar function in the Underground.
Finally, I wanted to send a love letter to this place. It’s really special, and I feel privileged to be playing a part in it. I enjoy the noise, and the warmth, and even though I don’t drink alcohol, and I rarely play games, and I don’t need to find companions for the night, the parade of humanity pleases me. It’s great to see people having fun, and getting outside their usual environs. This place is always evolving, too – ideas are tried and kept, tried and discarded, moved around, moved up, moved out. It’s alive, and it remains fresh because of it.
CyberJewel asked me if I had fun, and I didn’t know exactly how to answer right then, but I must be, because I make the effort, I think about it often, and even though I don’t plan anything ahead of time I do acquire records specifically to play in this setting.
I will stay here, playing the third Saturday of every month, for as long as they want me. So, I will be back next month, 17 February 2024 at 9pm. Hope to see you then.

Let's Talk Mullet Cast Net Throwing Techniques! 🎣🐟
Hey fellow fishing enthusiasts and mullet aficionados! 🌊🐟 Ready to dive into the great cast net throwing debate? We're here to discuss and dissect the various techniques for snagging those elusive mullet using cast nets. So grab your virtual fishing rod and let's get started!
The Overhand Fling: 🌀 Advocates of this method swear by its simplicity and effectiveness. The overhand fling involves holding the cast net with both hands and releasing it in a graceful arc over your target area. Supporters argue that this technique gives you better control over the net's spread and enables you to target specific spots with accuracy.
The Underhand Toss: 🎯 On the other side of the pond, we have the underhand toss enthusiasts. This technique involves holding the net with one hand and launching it underhandedly in a gentle yet swift motion. Fans of this method praise its ease of use, especially in tight spaces or when casting from a smaller boat or pier.
The Spin and Throw: 🌪️ Here's a technique that's gained popularity among those seeking that extra edge. The spin and throw involves spinning your body while holding the net and releasing it at the apex of your spin. Some say this generates additional momentum, resulting in a wider spread and greater coverage.
The Hybrid Approach: 🔄 As with any passionate debate, some folks prefer to find common ground. The hybrid approach blends elements of different techniques to create a customized style. This might involve an overhand motion combined with a twist for added flair or experimenting with varying degrees of force.
So, dear fishing community, which technique gets your vote? Are you a die-hard overhand flinger, a dedicated underhand tosser, an adventurous spinner, or do you have a secret hybrid technique up your sleeve? Share your thoughts, experiences, and even video demonstrations if you're feeling brave!
Remember, the best technique might just be the one that feels most comfortable to you and yields the best results in your fishing spot. Let's keep this discussion respectful and fun—after all, we're united by our love for mullet fishing and the thrill of the catch! 🌟🐟 Let the debates begin in the comments below! 🎣💬
Fishing enthusiasts and avid anglers have long engaged in friendly debates over various techniques and methods that elevate their catch success. One such debate that has stirred curiosity and rivalry is the age-old question: What is the best cast net throwing method for catching mullet? As schools of these elusive and agile fish dance beneath the water's surface, the art of casting a net becomes a crucial factor. Let's dive into the discussion and explore the merits of different cast net throwing methods in pursuit of the prized mullet.
The Circular Symphony: The Spin Technique
One side of the debate champions the "Spin Technique," a method where the cast net is twirled in a circular motion before releasing it into the water. Advocates of this approach argue that the spinning motion helps to evenly distribute the net, allowing it to spread out more naturally in the water. This, they claim, increases the chances of ensnaring a larger number of mullet in a single cast. Proponents also emphasize that the spinning action allows for better control over the net's opening, resulting in a more efficient catch.
The Radiating Precision: The Overhand Technique
On the other hand, supporters of the "Overhand Technique" assert that precision is the key to success when casting a net for mullet. This method involves holding the net in a way that lets it radiate outward as it's thrown overhead. Advocates argue that this technique provides a higher degree of accuracy, allowing the net to land exactly where intended, potentially encircling a tightly-packed school of mullet. They contend that this technique is ideal for smaller fishing spaces or when fishing from a dock or narrow area.
Finding Common Ground: Tailoring to Your Environment
While the debate rages on, it's important to recognize that no single method fits all scenarios. The best cast net throwing technique for mullet fishing might vary based on factors like the fishing location, the depth of the water, the size of the mullet, and the angler's personal skill level. It's a case where both methods have their strengths, and the ideal technique depends on adapting to the surrounding environment.
The Real Prize: Sharing Knowledge and Passion
Amidst the spirited discussion about the best cast net throwing method for mullet, one thing remains undeniable—the shared passion for fishing. Whether you prefer the elegant spin technique or the precise overhand method, the true treasure lies in the camaraderie of fellow anglers and the knowledge exchanged. Every angler brings their unique experiences and insights to the table, enhancing the collective understanding of the sport.
So, next time you're on the water, contemplating how to cast your net for mullet, consider the ongoing debate as a reminder that there's always something new to learn and explore. The thrill of the catch, the connection with nature, and the joy of sharing stories with fellow enthusiasts are the ultimate rewards, regardless of the method you choose. Happy fishing!

The Theory of Multiple Intelligences: A Personal Take
As we often hear, “walang taong bobo” (no one is stupid), our students are always diverse, each with their own unique type of intelligence. It is a fact that every student is heterogeneous in their abilities. Understanding the dynamics and diversity within the classroom provides a significant opportunity to reach more students effectively.
According to Marenous (2020), the theory of multiple intelligences states that “everyone has all eight intelligences at varying degrees of proficiency, and an individual’s learning style is unrelated to the areas in which they are most intelligent.” Recognizing the multiple intelligences of our students is crucial for the teaching and learning process. It enables teachers to adopt a range of techniques and methods, making the learning process more effective. By understanding and adapting to various teaching styles, educators can enhance learning outcomes and support students on their path to success. Furthermore, comprehending the present multiple intelligences helps in facilitating the learning process, serving as a toolbox with diverse teaching methods to achieve effective instruction. Consequently, teachers will be better guided on how to set the mode and mood of learning. When multiple intelligences are considered in the approach to teaching, it leads to higher quality and more effective education.
In conclusion, as future teachers, we must embrace this concept not only because it is factual but also because it is fundamental to creating a more effective learning process and conducive learning environment. The idea that “one size fits all” is inappropriate since every student is unique and every classroom is diverse. Fairness in education does not mean treating everyone the same; rather, it means equity—giving each student what they need. This principle is crucial in education, as fairness should be reflected not just in assessments but also in how students engage with and acquire knowledge.

Industrial Building Contractors
Certain Metal Structure Erection
Tumblr media
Steel structure erection occurs largely in large business jobs, which indicates that a reasonably high degree of danger is involved. Erection of a metal structure calls for cautious planning, sensible funding, and also operational effectiveness lest the task become less than successful. For the proprietor aiming to employ a contractor in this field, it may not be very easy to figure out whether these essential high qualities are present, and also obtaining self-confidence in selecting someone commonly entails care and persistance.
Examination of metal structure erection instances is for that reason an essential initial step in making a selection. Such analysis includes creating specific standards that figures out are pertinent. Experience is possibly the most crucial standard-- experience in massive, commercial-grade construction, including making use of mounting with steel, and don't undervalue the value of contacting previous customers of your candidate(s) in analyzing their experience.
A plus is when the specialist has a diverse experience drawing on a broad and also deep set of skills. Erecting a structure from square one creates a particular kind of useful ability; renovation of existing centers while they remain to be occupied creates various other abilities. In a similar way, making tenant renovations (overhauling an industrial framework to fit brand-new owners) needs great interaction with both proprietors and also clients and the capacity to assume swiftly on one's feet.
Variety can likewise be viewed, not only in terms of various sorts of tasks, but also in regards to various sorts of clients. For example, some contractors concentrate on working with public firms while others prefer the private sector to federal government customers. Such structure service providers avoid the risks associated with spreading themselves also thin; on the other hand, a varied direct exposure can reinforce relational skills.
An additional contrast is located in both essentially different approaches for steel structure erection. The more standard method is to build everything onsite, having actually all products supplied there and also executing the style and also structure straight from the strategies. The other technique uses pre-engineering to put together the steel structures in the shop (making use of innovative tools), and afterwards transports them throughout place.
Neither method is inherently much better than the other, though a number of aspects are weighed in figuring out which is helpful in any kind of specific instance. To show just how this transpires, it may work to check out the range of metal structure projects.
An excellent initial example is the aircraft hangar, which is almost always made of steel. This is due to the fact that the framework is large and also open, and also it requires high integral tensile stamina. The style is reasonably straightforward, making it equally reliable to pre-engineer the frame or build onsite.
Various other transport industries have comparable needs for their structures, specifically, high and wide-open areas, and also tensile toughness. Steel is the clear selection of material, as well as either approach of construction is viable.
Huge open locations are really common in a number of companies, including recycling, food processing, as well as production (with or without production line). Also, applications such as distribution centers or warehousing, in which open space is utilized to position equipment for storage space and also retrieval, normally construct that room with metal framing.
Though experience may be one of the most essential standard in choosing a professional, other aspects likewise carry weight. You may want somebody that can handle the design phase along with the construction stage; this recommends an outfit that runs according to the design-build strategy. Or the capability to offer extra services (financing, permit handling, lien launch, etc) could be attractive.
The even more attentive as well as extensive you remain in conducting your study, the higher will be the self-confidence in your option. Take your time and also talk about the search with several other people. With the standards provided in this short article you ought to be well on your means towards certain metal structure construction. www.facilitybuilders.com

Examining Social Media’s Impact on Landscape and Nature Photography
As a landscape and nature photographer with a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology, I often enjoy trying to blend the two disciplines to better understand the human experience as it relates to photography. One subject that particularly intrigues me is the impact of social media on photography and photographers.
My journey as a photographer began in 2008 just before the explosion of social media. This was the heyday of forums, blogs, and magazines; if you wanted to find great photography, you had to search for it.
Today, it’s everywhere. Photographers are faced with a problem: How do we stand out? One solution it seems can be found in post-processing. Many photographers chose to push their images to greater and greater extremes vying for the increasingly limited attention of their audiences.
Read more: When is Photography No Longer Photography?
What we have seen unfold in the past 10 years has been extraordinary. Photographs that were once lauded are now largely ignored by the masses in favor of digitally created spectacle. Realistic photographs of natural phenomena, incredible moments in time, or those representing exceptional experiences witnessed by the photographer, suddenly seem mundane.
Change Through Social Media
So how did we get here? In my opinion, this all began with the website 500px, which emerged in 2012. 500px, for those that are unfamiliar, possessed an algorithm they called “Pulse” which measured the popularity of the photograph based on likes, comments, views, and other metrics which then acted as a vehicle by which the photograph would make it onto their “Popular” page or even be selected as “Editor’s Choice.”
The images that were garnering the attention of the algorithm often possessed extraordinary qualities: splashy post-processing, composite elements, and saturated colors, all tied together in a near-perfect fantasy-like style. Photographers who had mastered various techniques in Photoshop such as compositing, warping, and sky-swapping were heavily rewarded with views, likes, and more attention on the platform. Indeed, groups of photographers quickly learned how the algorithm was tailored and banded together in social groups to game the algorithm and maximize the likelihood of making it onto the popular page. This solidified these images as representing the Zeitgeist of landscape photography.
It was obvious for any photographer paying attention that if you wanted to shoot to stardom between 2012 and 2016, your photographs needed to possess this dreamy, fantastical look.
Indeed, images became increasingly perfect by the day, with each group of photographs making it onto the popular page requiring more and more manipulation in the digital darkroom to attract attention. A post-processing arms race began and those photographers that presented nature as they actually experienced it were left behind. Extreme digital manipulation became the norm.
I, too, got swept up in this movement and began compositing images in the hopes they would get noticed. As Facebook, and later Instagram, arrived on the scene, so the trend accelerated. Monster moons, dropped in skies, auroras and Milky Ways, stretched mountains, composites of vastly different focal lengths, painted light rays –everything aimed at creating a perfect final product of nature that never has and never will exist.
On the positive side, these approaches have opened new avenues for artistic expression. It can even be argued that a new photographic genre has been created, valid in its own right. Many of the innovative post-processing techniques that have been developed in pursuing these extremes have become useful to photographers with more understated styles often helping them to present reality in an even more natural way. As a community, we’ve also developed a different understanding of light and color, and the qualities of a scene that transform it into the sublime. Like any disruptive artistic movement, a lot has been gained.
But if there are “losers,” then they are those talented photographers who find nature to be sufficient without significant embellishment. Creating work primarily for yourself should be the goal of any artist, but for those working professionally, there is a stark reality that they must court popularity in order to survive — or even enter the profession in the first place! When the viewer can’t distinguish between experiential scenes and digital fantasies, the latter will always become more popular. It’s a difficult conundrum to solve — should they try to keep up or just accept their new normal and the potential downsides that come with it?
Why We Post on Social Media
What motivates photographers to post on social media to begin with? In a recent Medium article titled The Psychology of Social Sharing, the authors examined the psychological incentives for sharing content:
Physiological needs: Sometimes we post to benefit the health or well-being of our friends and family.
Safety: Physical, mental, and financial security are important for people when they choose to post some material on their social media. This certainly makes sense – photographers operating as business people have a vested interest in maximizing their income.
Love & belonging: Users generally want to post to feel some kind of social acceptance from a group or a particular individual. I have found this particularly true of photographers who want to be accepted by their peers.
Esteem: People want to satisfy the rewards-oriented parts of their brains, which helps explain why some people post “me-centric” content regularly.
Self-actualization: This aspect of social media posting manifests when people share their successes — selling a print, winning a photography competition, or completing a book, to name a few examples.
By examining these psychological incentives, one can begin to understand why landscape and nature photography has been pushed to such digitally-manipulated extremes: because in order to gain these benefits wholly and consistently, a photographer looking to gain the same benefits from social media is forced to edit their photographs in a way that garners the most attention.
To garner positive feedback, photographs must rise to popularity, which requires the photograph to compete with “best” at any given moment. One way to guarantee this is to make the “photograph” perfect in every possible way for the broadest possible audience. This is why we commonly see focal length blended foregrounds with stretched mountains combined with drone perspectives, all in one “photo.” The more extreme the better!
More directly, the quest for likes or follows on social media heavily influences why people post and why they create the “artwork” they do. The positive attention some users receive for posting inspires more and more social sharing in many users.
The Lure of Popularity
So why do we chase popularity as photographers? It is only natural to want people to like our artwork. The human brain is wired for it and social media is the powderkeg. Social media affects brain functions in unique ways – it contains combinations of stimuli that can trigger different reactions, and because of this, social media has numerous consequential effects on the brain.
Positive attention online has an acute effect on the brain. According to an article in Social Cognitive and Affective Neuroscience, accruing likes on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram causes “activation in brain circuitry implicated in reward.” When social media users receive positive feedback (likes and comments), their brains fire off dopamine receptors, which are the same neurochemical receptors involved with sexual pleasure, enjoying a good meal, or using cocaine. Additionally, where researchers used MRIs to look at the brains of adolescents using Instagram, “viewing photos with many (compared with few) likes is associated with greater activity in neural regions implicated in reward processing, social cognition, imitation, and attention.” (Psychological Science)
Social exclusion also plays a role. When we share our photographs online and they don’t receive the same amount of praise as others, we can feel excluded. A study observing brain activity published in Nature Communications found that parts of the brain that deal with emotional and sensory processing had a significant negative reaction to a sense of exclusion on social media. To avoid these experiences, some photographers conform to popular trends in order to avoid the negative emotions associated with exclusion.
None of this should come as a surprise. Social media companies have been clued into human psychology from the outset. Understanding and manipulating online viewers is a key means of business growth. Social media channels have even harnessed the psychology of gambling to increase our screen time through the addictive effects of variable rewards. Essentially, the fact that our photos are not rewarded with likes in a consistent way makes us even more prone to spend time on these sites. Well-established research has shown that rewards for behavior that are varied and random have a much more powerful influence on repeating said behavior. The purest example of this can be found in slot machines in casinos.
What’s Next?
What are we to do if we value both styles of landscape and nature photography (extremely digitally manipulated vs. more natural / representative of reality)? I believe there is room for both styles to exist simultaneously without the constant back and forth beating of the dead horse we constantly find ourselves engaging in.
First of all, we need to make some attempts to identify and separate these two approaches, though this will have to be done sensitively. Photographers preferring the truth-to-nature approach risk coming across as elitist if, for example, they start suggesting that their work is real, unlike those who “fake” their work.
Similarly, many photographers who prefer total freedom to manipulate a scene will be resistant to labeling their work as composites, or admitting that a scene never existed. The best we can hope for at this stage is increased openness from both “sides” and respect for their differing approaches.
Secondly, we need platforms, social circles, groups, and competitions that promote more understated photography for what it is so that this work isn’t totally drowned out by other, more hyper-realistic work. Not only would this help to level the playing field for current photographers, but it would also encourage new photographers to consider both approaches, not just the approach that garners the most attention.
With that in mind I, and three other photographers, have created a competition, the Natural Landscape Photography Awards, which will recognize, reward and promote the more natural eyewitness style. This entire article will now of course come across as an advertisement for our competition; however, this competition is born out of love and passion for this style of photography. It is our hope that the competition will be aspirational to those choosing to work in this way, but also for those new to landscape photography. We also hope to create an outstanding collection of work representing the best the landscape photography community has to offer through our panel of experienced judges. It’s not quite the seismic change that social media brought about, but it’s a small step in the right direction.
The opinions expressed in this article are solely those of the author.

Good practices Design for CSS Grid
Now that people are using the
CSS
Grid Layout for production seems to be asking a very common question which seems to be "What are the best practices?
" The short answer to the present problem is to use the tactic of layout as began within the specification.. The exact aspects of the standard you want to use, and also how you mix Grid with other methods of layout like
Flexbox
, depends on what works with the patterns you are trying to create and how you and your team choose to work with. Looking deeper, I think maybe this call for "best practices" shows a lack of faith in the use of a system of layout which is very different from what had happened before. Maybe it's a concern that we're using Grid for things it wasn't designed for, or not using Grid when we should be. Maybe it's a matter of worrying about supporting older browsers, or how Grid fits into our development workflow. In this article, I'm going to try to cover some of the things that could be described as best practices, and some things that you probably don't need to worry about. THE SURVEY In order to help inform this post and to make this article strong, I wanted to find out how others used the Grid Layout in production, what were the difficulties they faced, what did they really enjoy? I had common queries, problems, or methods used. I put together a short survey to find out, asking questions about how people used the Grid System, and in particular what they enjoyed most and what they found difficult. I will reference and quote some of those responses directly in the article that follows. I will also be linking to several other sites, where you can find out more about the mentioned techniques. There was, as it turned out, much more than one article worth reading. ACCESSIBILITY If you need to take caution when using any aspect of the Grid specification, it is when using something that might trigger material to be re-ordered:
“Authors must use order and the grid-placement properties only for visual, not logical, reordering of content. Style sheets that use these features to perform logical reordering are non-conforming.”  —
Grid Specification: Re-ordering and Accessibility
But this isn't special to Grid, the ability to rearrange content in two dimensions so quickly makes Grid a bigger challenge. However, if you use any approach that enables the material to be reordered — be it Grid, Flexbox, or even utter positioning — you need to be careful not to disconnect the visual experience from the structure of the material in the text. Screen readers (and people who only use a keyboard to move around the document) will be following the order of things in the source.
The areas where you need to be especially careful are when using flex-direction to reverse the order in Flexbox; the order property in Flexbox or Grid; any positioning of Grid objects using any method when moving objects in the document out of the logical order; and using the grid-auto-flow dense packing mode.
For more information on this issue, see the following resources:·

WHICH GRID METHOD SHOULD I USE?
”With so much choice in Grid, it was a challenge to stick to a consistent way of writing it (e.g. naming grid lines or not, defining grid-template-areas, fallbacks, media queries) so that it would be maintainable by the whole team.”  —
Michelle Barker
When you first look at Grid, so many different ways of constructing a layout may seem daunting. However, in the end, it all comes down to stuff being moved from one grid line to another. You have options depending on the structure you are attempting to accomplish, and what fits best for the team and the site you are creating.
There's no right or wrong path forward. Below, I'll pick up some of the confusion themes. In the previous article "Grid Gotchas and Stumbling Blocks," I've already addressed several other possible areas of uncertainty. DO I GET AN IMPLICIT OR GRID EXPLICIT?
The grid you create is known as the Explicit Grid, with grid-template-columns and grid-template-rows.
The Clear Grid allows the Grid to label lines and also gives you the ability to mark the grid's end line by -1.
You can use a Specific Grid to do each of these things, and in general when you have an all designed layout and know exactly where the grid lines will go, and the track size.
I most frequently use the Implicit Grid for row directions. I want the columns to be specified but then rows will be auto-sized and will expand to contain the material. To some degree, you can control the Implicit Grid with grid-auto-columns and grid-auto-rows, but you do have less power than if you specify anything. You need to determine whether you know exactly how much material you have, and also how many rows and columns you have, in which case you will construct a Specific Grid. If you don't know how much material you have but just want to build rows or columns to keep whatever is there, you'll use the Implicit Grid.
Nonetheless, the two can be mixed.
I have specified three columns in the Explicit Grid and three rows in the CSS below, so the first three rows of content will be as follows: a track of at least 200px in height but expanding to take content taller, A track fixed at 400px in height, A track of at least 300px in height (but expands).
Any additional content will go into a line created in the Implicit Grid, and I use the grid-auto-rows property to make those lines at least 300px wide, extending to auto.
.grid {  display: grid;  grid-template-columns: 2fr 6fr 2fr;  grid-template-rows: minmax(400px auto) 800px minmax(600px, auto);  grid-auto-rows: minmax(600px, auto);  grid-gap: 40px; }
TA Compact GRID WITH A Fixed NUMBER OF COLUMNS By using Repeat Notation, Autofill, and Minmax, you can construct a pattern of as many tracks as you can fit into a container, removing the need for Media Queries to some degree.
This technique can be found in this video tutorial, and also illustrated in my recent article "Using Media Queries For Responsive Design In 2018" along with similar ideas. Choose this technique if you're happy with content falling below earlier content when there's less room, and are happy to allow a lot of sizing versatility. You explicitly asked for the show of your columns with a minimum scale, and for auto-filling. There were a few comments in the survey that made me wonder if people really wanted a grid with a fixed number of columns to choose this form. If you end up with an arbitrary number of columns at some breakpoints, it may be easier to set the number of columns — and redefine them as required with media queries — instead of using auto-fill or auto-fit. WHY TRACK SIZING SHOULD I USE?
In my article "How Big Is That Box? I mentioned track sizing in detail. Understanding Sizing In Grid Layout, "however, I still get questions about which way to use track sizing. In particular, I get asked about the difference between the size of the percentage and the unit fr. If you only use the fr unit as specced, it varies from using a percentage because it distributes space available. If you place a larger object in a track then the way the fr operates until that track takes up more room and distributes what is left over.
.grid { display: grid; grid-template-columns: 2fr 2fr 2fr; grid-gap: 40px; }
To allow the fr unit to allocate all the space in the grid container you need to use minmax) (to give it a minimum size of 0.
.grid { display: grid; grid-template-columns: minmax(0,4fr) minmax(0,4fr) minmax(0,4fr); grid-gap: 40px; }
You may also choose to use fr in any of these scenarios: those where you want auto-based space distribution (the default behavior) and those where you want equal distribution. Usually, I will use the fr machine because it figures out the sizing for you and allows you to use set tracks or gaps. instead, the only time I use a percentage is when I add grid components to an existing layout which also uses other layout methods.
If I want to match my grid components with a float- or flex-based layout that uses percentages, using them in my grid layout means it is using the same scaling process
AUTO-PLACE ITEMS OR SET THEIR POSITION?
Sometimes, you will find that you only need to put one or two elements in your layout, and the rest is focused on the order of the content. This is really a very successful indicator that you didn't disconnect the source and visual display.
If items fall pretty much into auto-placement-based location then they are generally in good order.
However, once I have decided where everything is going, I tend to assign everything a position. That means I don't end up with strange things happening when someone adds something to the document and grid auto places it somewhere unexpected, thus throwing the layout out. If all is placed Grid will position the element in the next available empty grid cell.
That may not be exactly where you want it, but it's definitely easier to sat down at the end of your layout than to hop into the center and move other things around. WHAT SYSTEM POSITIONS TO USE?
Ultimately all that comes down to moving objects from one line to another while dealing with the Grid Style. Essentially, everything else is an aid to that.   Decide with your team if you want to name the lines, use Grid Template Areas, or use a mix of different layout styles. I find I like using Grid Template Areas especially for small components. There's no right or wrong th re, though. Find out what's best for you. GRID IN CONJUNCTION WITH OTHER LAYOUT MECHANISMS
Note that Grid Layout is not the only true layout system to control all of them, it's designed for a certain form of the layout — two-dimensional layout in particular. Many methods of the layout are still in place and you should understand any pattern and what fits it best.
In fact, I think this is very difficult for those of us who used to hack around with layout methods to make them do something they weren't really built for. Taking a step back, looking at the layout methods for the tasks they were built for, and trying to use them for those tasks, is a very good time.
No matter how much I write about Grid versus Flexbox, in particular, I'll be asked which one person should use. There are many patterns in which either method of layout makes perfect sense and it is really up to you. No one will yell at you for preferring Flexbox over Grid, or Grid over Flexbox.
For my own work, I prefer to use Flexbox for components where I want to strongly regulate their layout through the natural size of objects, effectively moving the other objects around. I do often use Flexbox as I want alignment because the Box Alignment properties can only be used in Flexbox and Grid. I may have a one-child element Flex container, so I can align that child.
An indication that Flexbox may not be the method of layout that I would prefer is when I start applying percentage widths to flex objects and setting flex-grow to 0. The reason to apply percentage widths to flex products is mostly that I'm trying to line them up in two dimensions (it's exactly what Grid is for to line things up in two dimensions). Try both though, and see which seems to better fit the style of content or design. Via that, you are unlikely to cause any problems.  NESTING GRID AND FLEX OBJECTS
This also comes up a lot, and having a Grid Element also a Grid Container is absolutely no problem, thus nesting one grid within another. With Flexbox, you can do the same, making both a Flex Element and Flex Container. You can also make a Grid Item and Flex Container or a Grid Container Flex Item — none of these items are a problem!
What we can't do at the moment is nest one grid inside another, and use the grid tracks that are specified on the parent overall. This will be very helpful, which is what the Grid Specification subgrid proposals in Level 2 aim to solve. A nested grid is currently transforming into a new grid so you'd need to be careful about sizing to ensure it aligns with any parent tracks.
You Can Have Multiple Grids On One Page A comment popped up a few times in the survey which surprised me, there seems to be an idea that a grid should be limited to the main layout, and that many grids on one page are maybe not a good thing. You can have any grid you want! Use the grid for big items and small things, only use the grid if it makes sense as a grid.
 FALLBACK AND OTHER OUTDATED BROWSERS
“Grid used in conjunction with @supports has enabled us to better control the number of layout variations we can expect to see. It has also worked really well with our progressive enhancement approach meaning we can reward those with modern browsers without preventing access to content to those not using the latest technology.”  —
Joe Lambert
working on
rareloop.com
Nonetheless, in the survey, several people listed older browsers, there was a fairly even split between those who thought it was difficult to help older browsers and those who thought it was simply due to feature queries and the fact that Grid overrides certain methods of the layout. In "Using CSS Grid: Supporting Browsers Without Framework," I've written extensively about the complexities of creating such fallbacks. In general, modern browsers are far more interoperable than their previous predecessors. We prefer to see far less real "browser bugs" and if you correctly use HTML and CSS, you can find that what you see in one browser is the same as in another.
Of course, we do have cases where one browser has not yet shipped support for a standard, or parts of a standard. With Grid, we were very lucky that, within a short time, the browsers shipped Grid Layout in a very complete and interoperable way. And our testing criteria appear to be comparing browsers with Grid and without Grid. You may have opted to use the -ms prefixed version in IE10 and IE11, which would then entail a third form of browser checking.
Browsers that support modern grid layout (not version IE) support feature queries as well. This means you can check the support for Grid before you use it.
TESTING BROWSERS THAT DON’T SUPPORT GRIDS
By using browser failbacks without Grid Layout support (or using the -ms prefixed version for IE10 and 11), you'll want to check how certain browsers render Grid Layout. You need a way to imagine your site in an example browser to do this.
I wouldn't take the approach of breaking your Function Question by searching anything nonsensical for support or misspelling the value list. This method will only work if your stylesheet is extremely simple, and within the function queries you've put absolutely everything to do with your Grid Layout. This is a very fragile and time-consuming way of working, particularly when you're using Grid extensively. Additionally, an older browser would not only lack support for the Grid Style, but other CSS properties will also be unsupported. If you're looking for "best practice," set up yourself to be in a good place to check your work is up there!
There are a few simple ways to set up a reliable system of checking the failbacks. The best option is to use a service such as BrowserStack — if you have a fairly good internet connection and don't mind paying a subscription fee — This is a program that allows websites (even those in progress on your computer) to be accessed on a whole host of actual browsers. BrowserStack does provide open-source projects with free accounts. My recommendation to check locally would be to use a Virtual Machine built with your target browser. Microsoft provides free downloads of Virtual Machine with IE versions back to IE8, and Edge as well. The older version of a plugin with no support for Grid can also be installed on the VM. To get a copy of Firefox 51 or below, for example. Be sure to turn off automatic updates after updating your older Firefox as explained here otherwise it will update itself quietly! Good practices Design for CSS Grid
Now that people are using the CSS Grid Layout for production seems to be asking a very common question which seems to be "What are the best practices?
"The short answer to the present problem is to use the tactic of layout as began within the specification.. The exact aspects of the standard you want to use, and also how you mix Grid with other methods of layout like Flexbox, depends on what works with the patterns you are trying to create and how you and your team choose to work with. ACCESSIBILITY If you need to take caution when using any aspect of the Grid specification, it is when using something that might trigger material to be re-ordered:“Authors must use order and the grid-placement properties only for visual, not logical, reordering of content.

WHICH GRID METHOD SHOULD I USE?”With so much choice in Grid, it was a challenge to stick to a consistent way of writing it (e.g. naming grid lines or not, defining grid-template-areas, fallbacks, media queries) so that it would be maintainable by the whole team.”  —
Any additional content will go into a line created in the Implicit Grid, and I use the grid-auto-rows property to make those lines at least 300px wide, extending to auto.
.grid {  display: grid;  grid-template-columns: 2fr 6fr 2fr;  grid-template-rows: minmax(400px auto) 800px minmax(600px, auto);  grid-auto-rows: minmax(600px, auto);  grid-gap: 40px; }
If you place a larger object in a track then the way the fr operates until that track takes up more room and distributes what is left over.
.grid { display: grid; grid-template-columns: 2fr 2fr 2fr; grid-gap: 40px; }
To allow the fr unit to allocate all the space in the grid
container you need to use minmax) (to give it a minimum size of 0.
.grid { display: grid; grid-template-columns: minmax(0,4fr) minmax(0,4fr) minmax(0,4fr); grid-gap: 40px; }
AUTO-PLACE ITEMS OR SET THEIR POSITION?Sometimes, you will find that you only need to put one or two elements in your layout, and the rest is focused on the order of the content.
WHAT SYSTEM POSITIONS TO USE?Ultimately all that comes down to moving objects from one line to another while dealing with the Grid Style. Essentially, everything else is an aid to that.  Decide with your team if you want to name the lines, use Grid Template Areas, or use a mix of different layout styles. I find I like using Grid Template Areas especially for small components. There's no right or wrong th re, though. Find out what's best for you. GRID IN CONJUNCTION WITH OTHER LAYOUT MECHANISMSNote that Grid Layout is not the only true layout system to control all of them, it's designed for a certain form of the layout — two-dimensional layout in particular.

TESTING BROWSERS THAT DON’T SUPPORT GRIDS By using browser failbacks without Grid Layout support (or using the -ms prefixed version for IE10 and 11), you'll want to check how certain browsers render Grid Layout.
You can then check your site on one VM in IE11 and in non-supporting Firefox (a much less vulnerable solution than values that are misspelled). It might take you an hour or so to get set up, but then you'll be in a really nice position UNLEARNING OLD HABITSMany of the respondents to the survey discussed the need to unlearn old habits and how it would be easier for people who are completely new to CSS to learn Style.
