My pet snake enjoys being pet too, especially after she's eaten she likes me to pet her tummy there.
(The really unusual thing is she will pet herself there with her chin to show me what she wants, and I do it every time she asks so I guess I've been reenforcing/rewarding this behavior. She will stop directing me and relax when I pet her. She also pets ME sometimes too. She'll sit with her body in the crook of my arm and gently and repeatedly move her chin over my arm in the direction my short arm hairs flow, lift up and go back and do it again several times. I'm not sure if she enjoyed being pet and decided to try it for herself and liked it, or just enjoys the feeling of petting her human. She's very sweet, gentle, and cuddly. Does anyone else's snake do this? I've seen nothing like it posted anywhere by anyone else. She's a Western Hognose.)
#When I first got her I'd barely interacted with any snakes irl before#so when she got starled her nature is to make a loud scary sound#It is REALLY loud considering she's as small as a long gummi worm#The second time she did it and I flinched uncontrollably she seemed to have this realization that she was scaring the hell out of me#(startling because sudden loud sound)#and seems to have made an effort to not scare big human who nice things happen to her when they are around#she only hisses now to say no or when something startles her#and is very nice and sweet to me#It was very surprising to me she recognized she was scary and changed her behavior to be nice to me almost immediately#I'm so happy she wants to be friends and associates me with good things#she'll be out exploring and if I start taking to her she'll come over#I'm not calling her#she just hears me talk sweetly to her and immediately wants to be near me#often she just likes to be held#and chooses to spend time being held when offered play time or to go back in her home#I think her knowing she has complete control and choice is why she's so confident. Sometimes I think she asks to go back in her home just#to make sure she can#because she'll come back out again immediately and start playing#a lot of the time she'll peek just to make sure she can see her enclosure#and that's enough for her to feel safe#and she'll cuddle me and we'll play#I wish media showed the true nature of these sweet animals rather than trying to make them look scary#a lot of the time the representation in videos is after the animal has either learned not to trust or has been intentionally riled up#but my gods if you spend time with them and they learn you are someone who loves them they can trust many are so so so so dear#A lot of snake videos are the equivalent of taking a feral cat and getting in it's face#if that's all people see they'd think all cats were like trapped panicky desperate feral cats#but that wouldn't be an accurate representation at all#yanno?

Random Assortment of Cute JJ x Emily Headcanons :)
Requested by @arcutalion (I accidentally deleted the ask by mistake so if I missed one let me know 😭💔)
At the movies :)
They don’t go out to the movies often because of work or they’re spend time with the boys at home
(They like to consider movies as their date nights away from the kids, which, again, doesn’t happen often)
When they do go to the movies, it’s almost always to the local theater to watch whatever film that the theater is airing that week
(JJ doesn’t really like going to movies anyway, but she knows Emily has a soft spot foreign films and loves to go just to spend time with her girlfriend)
Emily always gives her the English translation of the book or play the film is based off of so that the blonde isn’t completely lost when they go to the theater
JJ studies them as if they’re scripture and spends her free time during the week before reading and asking Emily (or Spence, if he’s around) about particular parts she doesn’t fully grasp
When they do go to the theater, JJ ends up watching Emily most of the time
The brunette’s expressions, the way her eyes light up at specific scenes and the way she subtly mouths along to the dialogue is too precious, so how can JJ justifiably watch anything else
Sometimes, she’ll rest her head on Emily’s shoulder and watch the film
She follows along, not just because she read the play/book a week before, but also because Emily translates the film for her lowly in her ear
JJ brings a hoodie with her because she knows Emily will get cold halfway through the film
(It’s always one of her hoodies; Emily likes the way the blonde’s clothes fit on her)
Emily’s favorite snack is the gummy worms
JJ’s is the rainbow twizzlers
Disaster girlfriends painting a house
They both decide after years and years of dating to move into a new home together
It’s a simple light gray with white detailing that contrasts to the main color of the building withh the wide glass windows, it makes the home look really inviting and domestic
The first floor of the house has a grayish blue paint that they fall in love with
Then they go up to the second floor and are greeted with ugly, mustard yellow walls
It’s... so, so bad
It’s so bright and they don’t understand why
Immediately they go to the nearest hardware store and pick out a new color
(It ends up being just a nice light gray that matches the outside of the house and it works well with the blue on the first floor)
The next day they’re both dressed down in baggy clothes, JJ in a simple old tshirt with the sleeves cut off and old leggings while Emily is in a long sleeve and short shorts, both in old tennis shoes
JJ’s hair is tied up on a ponytail and she has a bandana tied around her head to keep her hair from getting in the way
She’s very serious about getting the painting done, placing her hands on hips as she goes from room to room upstairs to see the work they got to do
She sets up the plastic on the floor, moves the furniture out of the way and puts on their favorite podcast before getting to work
Emily... not so much
To her credit, she does paint, but she keeps sneaking glances over at JJ and getting distracted because of how cute she is when she’s concentrated
Her brows are furrowed slightly, the strokes she makes with the paintbrush methodical and precise, and honestly, Emily just can’t believe how lucky she is that this is her life
JJ keeps catching Emily staring and always reminds her to get back to the task at hand, though her smile grows wider every time she reprimands the brunette
Emily dips her hand into the paint and leaves a handprint on JJ’s arm
JJ, in retaliation, leaves a smear of paint across Emily’s cheek
This ends in both of them having a small battle with the paint that leaves both of them covered in smears of gray on their clothes, their skin, and their hair
They both end up in the middle of the floor, breathless from their laughter
Emily has a handprint on her forehead and paint dripping from her hair
JJ has paint on her nose and both cheeks, her bandana covered in paint
They both just giggle and grin at each other until Emily pulls JJ in for a light, soft kiss that expresses just how grateful she is that this is her life and how happy she is to spend it with the blonde
Emily being a simp™️ for sportsfan!!JJ
They don’t normally go out and watch professional sports a lot
But Emily likes to spoil the hell out of JJ and the boys and always manages to find the best tickets for local games on special occasion
The boys get so excited for the games
Even if they end up at a baseball game in 40 degree weather, Emily’s favorite moments are simply just enjoying spending time with her family
They’ll sit with the boys sandwiched between them, watch the game and then go out for dinner afterwards (their go to is Sheetz— I don’t make the rules)
When the boys are with Will, Emily will surprise JJ with tickets to her favorite sports team’s games
(Her favorite football teams change every year; her most recent favorites are the Baltimore Ravens)
(She doesn’t have a favorite team for soccer, but she vastly prefers going to and watching women’s soccer games)
Emily doesn’t understand a thing about sports, but she loves taking JJ to games
JJ will get them both matching jerseys to wear on game day and will be so excited the entire day to get to the stadium
She gets really into the games—she’ll get pressed when the team she’s rooting for makes a shitty play, or when the referee makes an unfair call
She’ll hop out of her seat and bounce up and down when a particularly exciting play happens
She’ll cheer so loud her throat is raw by the end of the game
Emily just watched her with the most awestruck/lovesick expression on her face
Her heart melts and a huge grin will break out on her face when JJ gets excited
She’s practically swooning in her own seat when JJ tells off other ignorant fans when they say something inappropriate
(She’s always proudly thinking “Yes, that’s my girl” and “I can’t wait to marry this woman some day”)

Unraveling the Riddle - I
By: aslightobsessionofthings & igotmybearhands
Rated: PG
A little Valentines surprise! A short fluff piece featuring our OC’s Aurora and Fermin, based off the idea of the first time they say “I love you.”
Tumblr media
“Come on Fermin, where are we going?” Aurora asked for the fifth time, looking over at the driver with pleading eyes. She was getting bored of being in the car, having nothing to do but watch the scenery since Fermin had confiscated her phone the moment she had pulled it out.
“I’m not saying! It wouldn’t be a surprise otherwise, now would it?” He said chuckling at the exaggerated pout Aurora gave him, and reaching over to take her hand in his, hoping this would soften her up a bit.
“It’d be nice if I had something to help pass the time...like my phone maybe.” She muttered, turning her gaze back to the rolled down window.
“Oh come on! It’s not that bad. Plus, if you did have your phone you’d be staring at the map, trying to guess where we’re going. Or worse, you would be trying to bribe Raul and constantly checking up on Marisol.” He shot back at her. “Why don’t you just sit back and relax? Marisol is sixteen years old, she’ll be fine on her own for a weekend!”
She squinted at him, searching her brain for an appropriate response, but finding none, did as he suggested. She resumed looking out the window, watching the scenery turn from small urban coastal towns to the rural wilderness. It didn’t take long for her eyes to start feeling heavy, resulting in her head rolling to the side as her eyes closed and she fell into a deep sleep.
When Aurora woke up the first thing she noticed was the lack of movement--they’d finally come to a stop. Her realization was followed by Fermin abruptly shoving his face through her window with a loud hello, frightening her near to death. She let out a small scream and then shoved him back out the window, but not before he stole a quick kiss. He opened the door for her, holding out his hand for her to take and spinning her around into him, capturing her lips once more. She wasn’t sure how long they stood there, his lips locked on hers and his arms holding her close to him. Fermin always found any excuse to hold her and it was something she’d never complain about.
After what seemed like eternity, she finally managed to get her hand between them, placing it against his chest and slowly breaking away from him so she could take in their surroundings. They were at a gas station and the hot sun standing still in the sky indicated it had been a few hours since she’d fallen asleep. She chuckled lightly as Fermin continued to kiss her neck softly, whispering against her skin, “We still have about two hours to go, wanna run inside and get some snacks and drinks while I finish up out here?”
Aurora nodded enthusiastically, untangling herself from him and grabbing her wallet before taking off toward the mini mart. She went up and down the aisles grabbing bags of gummy worms, jerky, chicharrones, and a couple candy bars. She debated on the drinks, figuring they could do with a few bottles of water at least, maybe a couple sport drinks and two iced coffees--just in case. Outside, she found Fermin standing against his car, waiting for her to finish up.
“I forget how crazy you get when picking out road trip food...should have given you a limit.” He laughed, motioning to the two full bags she was carrying.
“You’re just jealous of my skills to be in and out in five minutes!” She walked up and handed him the bags with a kiss on the cheek.
It didn’t take long for the two of them to devour half of the supplies she’d bought, each of them tearing into their preferred snack of choice once they had gotten back on the road. Aurora felt re-energized with her stomach full that she didn’t even make a fuss when Fermin stole her bottle of iced coffee, smirking at her as she pulled the second one from the bag and opened it up, taking a sip and pulling back with an audible Ahh. Fermin joined her in her laughter, holding the one he took from her up in cheers.
“I can’t remember the last time I had a weekend off like this.” Aurora sighed, shedding her t-shirt, leaving her in just a bikini top and shorts. She leaned the seat back, stretching out with her feet on the dash and putting herself on full display, much to Fermin’s pleasure, who had been having a hard time keeping his hand from gliding over any exposed skin.
“That is a crime, really. We’re gonna have to change that... I’m gonna make it my personal duty to get you to relax and enjoy life!” He promised her, looking her way and sending her a devilish wink.
Aurora reached over and caressed his cheek fondly, “I’d like that.”
He grabbed her hand, entwining his fingers with hers and placing a soft kiss on the back of her hand. He didn’t let go when Aurora pulled both their hands and placed them on her lap, a smile plastered on her face letting him know that things were definitely going to plan. Not wanting to ruin the mood, he hesitated before bringing up the question that had been on his mind since he’d met Aurora and her cousin.
“What did you want to do with your life...before you came here?”
Aurora was momentarily taken aback by the rudeness of his question but she considered it nonetheless. She knew what she had been told to do--by her parents, by her friends, by her Alpha, but if she was being honest, she hadn’t really given any thought about what she wanted to do. She knew what she didn’t want: a loveless marriage with strings of affairs that were known, but never talked about and weekends at the country club. That was what her family and friends from her life before Moira knew--a meaningless life built on privilege and internalized racism, lacking in love and purpose--in family and unity. It was only when Miranda had befriended her and taken her home that Aurora had learned what a real family was--full of people you love and who loved you in return. Once bitten, she had fully embraced pack life and was rising in the ranks to become Moria’s second, something Miranda had fully encouraged. But thinking about it now, she wasn’t sure it was something she had actually wanted for herself.
“I know I don’t want to waste my life away--take anything for granted. I’d like to travel around a bit more, maybe learn another language or two. Pick up a few trade skills along the way.” Aurora finally spoke, staring straight at the interstate before them, lost in her thoughts concerning Fermin’s question. “When Miranda showed me what having a family could be like, I wanted to be a part of it, so I put all of my effort into being someone Moira and the pack could be proud of. Then it felt like a sense of duty to continue on surviving, Marisol and I. I’ve hardly had a minute to think of anything I want to do, it’s been more what do I need to do--not just for myself, but for Marisol too, you know?”
Fermin nodded solemnly, understanding that sometimes things happened in life, uprooting plans and families, and Aurora had learned to adapt to these circumstances. While details of their past were still unknown to him, he had learned enough to know that both Aurora and Marisol had suffered too much, too young--neither of them getting a chance to really live the lives they were owed. He had hoped that in the time they were staying with his pack, he’d be able to bring them light and joy--maybe even convince them to start a new family here in Florida.
“But if you’re looking for ideas on how to get me to enjoy life, I have always wondered why people find Disneyworld greater than Disneyland.” Aurora interrupted his thoughts, her interjection delivered in a nonchalant manner, so as not to seem too eager.
“You know that place is a total tourist trap, right?” he asked.
“Doesn’t mean Marisol and I don’t want to go.” She retorted.
After some flirty banter, which consisted mostly of Aurora throwing ideas at Fermin for where he could take her, he finally took for his hand back as they started nearing their destination. Getting off US-98 and turning inland, Aurora sat up and kept an eye out for any signs that may enlighten her as to what their secret destination was. When she saw a sign saying they were about twenty miles away from the Apalachicola National Forest she began practically vibrating with excitement. Fermin knew he had made the right choice not to take her to Disneyworld this weekend.
She had been unsure when Fermin said they were backpacking in, feeling weary about going off trail, and worried they might encounter something unfamiliar. She was glad she had trusted him though, they were a few miles from the campgrounds and marked trails, with access to a spring fed creek to go swimming in and an incredible view. After a nutritious dinner of roasted hotdogs, Aurora sat back, leaning against Fermin’s chest as they watched the campfire burn, taking in the beauty that surrounded them. Fermin had his arm around her waist, and Aurora traced her fingers along it, feeling a sense of calm and happiness creeping in--feelings she hadn’t experienced in over a year.
“It’s starting to get dark,” She pointed out.
“So it is.” He answered, looking down at the woman in his arms and pulling her closer to him. Fermin didn’t think he’d ever been as happy as he was now with her-- just the two of them, close like this. Just three months ago Aurora and Marisol were walking into their territory asking for sanctuary, he had found her cunning and arrogant at first, but learned quickly that everything she did was out of love--to keep Marisol safe.
He kept his distance at first, not wanting to bother them as they settled in and having too much fun watching all the young ones try to show one another up for just a hint of attention from either of them. He hadn’t known the entire time she had been watching him and soon found out that Aurora didn’t do subtle. He’d taken her dancing on their first date almost two months ago and hadn’t been able to keep his hands off her since, much to the clucking of all the Tías.
“Think it’s safe now?” She asked.
“Absolutely.” He said, standing first to help her up.
Another perk of being far from the rest of the campers was the ability to go for a run at full speed, not having to worry about being seen. Their eyes glowed, allowing them to see as they ran through the forest under the new moon. Fermin challenged her, running ahead, always keeping just out of reach. As they made their way back to camp, Aurora headed straight for the creek, shedding her outer layers of clothing and kicking off her shoes, she stepped into the cool spring water and wading her way up stream till she came to an area deep enough to submerge her body entirely. Fermin stood on the bank catching his breath as she stood up, the pool deep enough so she was still waist deep in the water.
“You gonna join me?” Aurora asked coyly.
“I think the view might be better from here.” Fermin’s yellow eyes darkened and he watched her swaying slowly in the water, daring him to wander in.
“If you don’t join me to wash off, you’ll find yourself sleeping outside-” She was cut off by the splash of Fermin jumping into the small pool with her, the water only coming up to his hips.
Aurora looked at him in surprise and had the brilliant idea to splash him back, starting a water fight which she instantly forfeited when he picked her up with the intent of dropping her in the water. She did a last minute maneuver, wrapping her legs around his waist and her arms around his neck and held on tightly. There was no way she was going to let him dunk her in the stream--she hated trying to sleep with wet hair. She clung onto him as he tried to wiggle his way out of her grip, finally succumbing to her when she began to trail soft kisses along his neck and jawline.
“What about you? What do you want to do with your life?” She asked in an effort to distract him further, but also genuinely wanting to know what dreams the man before her held.
Fermin moved slowly to lower both of them into the water, keeping their heads above water. His first instinct was to say, you, but he knew better than to say something that might scare her off--after all two months was not a long enough time for a woman like Aurora to make a decision. “I’m a simple man...I want a good woman to share the rest of my life with, maybe a few kids down the road. Finally getting to order off the senior citizen menu at Denny’s. Oh and of course I wouldn’t mind getting discovered, having my paintings hang in a museum where a security guard has to tell someone to take a step back because they’re too close.”
Aurora settled herself on his lap, playing with the hairs along the back of his neck, “Oh of course, but how ever will you decide which museum will have the honor to proudly display your work? The LACMA? The Guggenheim? SFMOMA? PAMM? Or are you thinking internationally?” She giggled watching as the look on Fermin’s face changed to one of being done with her shit.
“Your pretentiousness is showing.” He told her, shaking his head at her.
“There is only so much a ten year old can do on their own...museums became my escape when I was forced to join my parents in their business travels.” She shrugged, not wanting to explore that part of her past anymore than she had to. “I think we should get out before we prune.”
Fermin noticed her quick change in topic, but decided to let it go, instead agreeing with her and lifting her up with him, placing her down on the blanket in front of the smouldering embers that remained of their campfire before. He carefully stoked the dying fire, bringing it back to life and providing them with some heat to help dry off before they went to bed. The lowest temperature it ever dropped to in Florida was the early sixties, but Aurora still got goosebumps as she waited for her skin to dry off. Fermin took it as a sign to hold her close like he had before, pulling her into his chest and wrapping his arms around her. He kissed the top of her head, laying his cheek against it as they listened to the fire crackle and sounds of the night.
“Thank you.” Aurora whispered. The fire was burned down, and Aurora turned so she could face him easier and gave him a soft yet passionate kiss.
“I love you.” He said back, suddenly freezing as he realized the words that had escaped him.
Aurora blinked, not sure she heard correctly. Turning to fully facing him, she felt her heart beating just as fast as his, and her breath caught in her lungs. Taking his face in her hands she shuffled closer and told him, “I love you too.”
Fermin grabbed her and stood up, lifting her up with him. Quickly stomping out and kicking the bucket of water onto the embers left from the fire he carried her to their tent and spent the next hour telling he loved her between each passionate kiss they shared. He reminded her of it with each kiss, feeling his happiness grow with each time she said it back, and feeling too excited to fall asleep, even as Aurora’s eyes grew heavy and closed.
He sat away, thinking of what he was going to do. Their circumstances were drastically different, and that worried him. He had a feeling Aurora and Marisol’s journey had only really just begun and they still had questions that needed answering. And like Aurora, he too had responsibilities to his family and pack, and traveling as they had been, barely staying in one place for a few months wasn’t exactly a lifestyle that appealed to him. Yet he knew he wouldn’t be able to stand watching her leave. Two months, and already she had become his entire world, how was he going to be able to let her go? He shook his head in an effort to clear the thoughts from his mind and looked down at Aurora sleeping half on top of him--just like that, the thoughts had faded. She loved him and that was all he cared about in that moment--they could worry about the rest later.
With that he closed his eyes and went to sleep.

Makes sense
nb Klaus and trans Diego are the only acceptable headcanons
here’s a lil self indulgent fic i wrote :’))
—————————————————————————-
It had been a few months since the Hargreeves had avoided the end of the world. At first they were all sort of shocked. Nothing felt quite real - nothing felt the same. They didn’t feel the same. They’ve been working together to regain some sort of normalcy in their lives. All seven of the siblings had their own unique “quirks”.
Luther was learning how to be an actual person without a mission. He spent 30 years aimlessly following orders and now that he has this newfound freedom, he’s working on trying to find his “thing”. Right now he’s experimenting with painting. He had spent about $1,500 of their fathers money on art supplies and his siblings fully supported that use of his money. Often times he’d end up painting the moon and the sights he saw while up there.
As time progressed Diego’s stutter started to reappear and not just when he was emotional. He would wake up every morning and say the same line to the reflection.
“My name is Diego Hargreeves and I am here.” That line became his new mantra. He affirmed his existence every morning while seeing where his brain and his body lined up that day. Sometimes it wouldn’t come out of his mouth as clean as he’d want. Sometimes it wouldn’t come out at all. During those times he signed for the day. Klaus and Diego had learned the basics as kids. They would sneak in the library and find the ASL books and cram as much information as they could in their heads before they got kicked out of the room. Klaus wanted Diego to know there was more than one way to communicate; he wanted him to know that he could express himself without words. Diego had been busying himself in boxing once more. Him and Luther turned one of the rooms downstairs into their own personal gym. He found it to be a good stress release even if he wasn’t living at the boxing rink anymore. He was still competing and his family came to every event to cheer him on.
Allison may have lost her voice but she didn’t lose her passion for acting. She’s been interpreting for shows and musicals. She even auditioned for Deaf West Sprint Awakening with the encouragement of the other six Hargreeves of course. Vanya was not the most fluent in ASL. She wanted to help her sister with rehearsing and also wanted become more fluent herself. She felt like Allison deserved at least that much. The two sisters spent many nights together rehearsing the lines, making sure she was as good as she could be. She got the role. And Vanya is playing in the pit with her. Allisons siblings made sure she didn’t lose that part of herself.
Klaus, newly sober and doing well, painted his nails weekly and has started experimenting with makeup. He had bought just about every palette he could get his hands on and everyday he would look like a different person. The siblings always made sure to comment on the look of the day. Even Luther was able to tell he was improving. They spent too long not taking Klaus seriously that the least they could do was give him the affirmations he deserves. And every week he’d have a new nail color; this weeks being hot pink. He had his “weekly appointments” with Allison that involved gummy worms, soap operas, and nail polish.
Five made sure to make a marshmallow and peanut butter sandwich every morning for breakfast with a hot cup of coffee. He often read the newspaper and usually Ben was the only one up early enough to join him. The 13 year old body had been touch deprived for 45 years and the 20 year old had been unable to get in contact with anyone for 10 years. Ben and Five always made sure they had company within each other in the mornings.
Ben was able to be physically present for about 12 hours of the day. Klaus and Ben has been training hard so they could have their brother in their life again. All Ben wanted to do was spend time with his family. He helped Luther pick out the brands of paints he should from his research of art. He also made sure to research the best, non problematic makeup brands for Klaus to buy from. He even accompanied Vanya’s students on piano as he was an avid player until the day he died. If he wasn’t physically doing things with his family, he would be reading with them.
Even after all that happened Vanya is still playing violin. She’s not currently in school as she’s already a grad student. She doesn’t have any intentions on getting her masters in violin performance. She’s content teaching kids at home. Her family has made it a big thing: Grace always made sure the children had plenty of “brain food”. Allison helped turn one of the many bedrooms into a studio with creative design rightfully going to Klaus (or more so he insisted).
However one thing that Klaus didn’t expect to happen was the euphoria he started to feel. Not only was his family actually acting like a family, but he was able to actually discover who he is. His brain has finally been given a break. He’s able to have clear, cognitive thoughts that were entirely his own without the cloudiness or influence of any substance. This was the first time he was able to do so in 17 years.
Since he started playing with makeup he realized something. He wasn’t sure if he was really a “he” at all. Klaus knew he wasn’t a girl like Allison or Vanya are. But he knew he wasn’t a man like Diego or Luther.
Klaus learned about the difference between gender and sex after a long talk with Ben. Ben had found his sibling staring at their reflection in front of the, noticing the way they eyed every centimeter of their body with confusion one night. They had on black overalls with a black and white crop top underneath and their buckled booties on. They had a simple makeup look: just winged eyeliner and a red lip. They had grown out their curls long enough to where it touched their shoulders however they had it tied up in a bun.
“I just...i don’t feel like a guy.” Klaus finally let out after he noticed Ben’s gentle presence.
“That’s okay.”
“But I don’t feel like a girl.” They shifted, looking away from their reflection and staring at Ben’s. They weren’t sure what they were saying this out loud for but Ben has been their clarity filter for quite a few years now. He always knew what to say.
Ben came up right behind Klaus and peaked his head over his shoulder. Although they were taller than Ben, Klaus had never felt so small.
“Tell me what you’re thinking. What are you seeing?” Ben asked softly, putting his hand on the small of Klaus’ back for support.
They blinked at the question. They weren’t too sure how to answer that.
“I uh,” they paused and tugged at one of their sleeves and pulled it down, “I see a lanky person who doesn’t look like anything.”
Ben nodded and waved his hand as a sign to make them elaborate.
“I think I’m...I’m not anything? I’m just Klaus.”
“And just Klaus is good enough for me. Good enough for all of us. Have you considered that you may be nonbinary?” Ben spun their sibling around so they were now facing each other.
“Non-binary...?” Klaus’ voice tapered at the end. They had never heard of such a thing.
“From what I’ve read, nonbinary people are individuals who don’t identify as male or female. They don’t fit within either binary. They simply exist as a person regardless of the binary genders assumed of people. Some go by they/them pronouns,” Ben explained, “so like ‘oh that’s Jay’s jacket. They must have left it here when they went home’. It’s completely grammatically correct. Others are comfortable with he/she pronouns. Or all of the above! It all depends on the person. This identity fits under the trans umbrella which a lot of people don’t realize.” Ben found himself rambling which he usually did when educating someone about a subject. Even if he didn’t know the most about a topic he always appreciated when anyone would listen to him.
“You can do that? You can...you can actually live like that?” They were in shock. Everything Ben had just said felt like it came right from their brain as if he had peaked inside their head at their most intimate inner thoughts about themself.
“Absolutely.” Ben put his hand on their shoulder and gave it a light squeeze. Klaus’ eyes started to sting as they started to tear up. They immediately wrapped the shorter man into a hug, careful not to get makeup on his hoodie.
“Thank you. I think...I think that’s it. I’m nonbinary.” Klaus took a step back and wiped a tear from their eyes, looking up as they did so to not mess up their eyeliner.
“What pronouns are you comfortable with?” Ben inquired with a grin on his face. He loved seeing his sibling this happy.
“I...want to try they/them.” They stated, “if...if that’s okay.” Their head always made them feel like they were asking too much of people. They didn’t want to add any unnecessary stress to their siblings lives, not anymore.
“Of course it is, Klaus. Should we tell the others?” Ben nodded towards the door. “There’s absolutely no rush though.” He added, not wanting to make them feel like they had to announce their identity to the world.
“No yeah, I’d like to. I want to be 100% me to everyone.” Klaus agreed, a grin forming on their face.
“Alrighty then, family meeting time!” Ben marched to the door like a soldier which caused Klaus to bark out a laugh.
“Yeah okay buddy.” They rolled their eyes and followed suit.
They didn’t think they’d ever have to come out again. To say they weren’t scared would be a lie but they knew the could do this. Ben was on their side after all.
Ben grabbed Klaus’ bell on the way out and rang it through the halls.
“Non emergency family meeting people! Let’s go let’s go let’s goooo~” Ben chanted as each of their respective doors opened.
“Okay c-cool it with the bell, Ben. We heard it the first th-th-thousand rings.” Diego yanked the bell from his hand and ruffled his brothers hair.
“Fair enough. But you know I always need to make an entrance now.” Ben laughed as they seven of them seated themselves in the living room.
Ben walked up to the front with Klaus basically attached at his hip. It wasn’t unusual to find the two of them this close but they way Klaus was closing in on themself worried the family.
“What’s this about? I know you said nonemergency but,” Luther gestured to Klaus, “is this about-“
“Did you relapse, Klaus?” Five interrupted. He didn’t sound mad or accusatory, just concerned. His brows were furrowed and he was twirling his fingers in his lap.
“What, no? God no, don’t worry. I’m okay.” Klaus reassured their family as they waved their hands in front of them.
The rest of them immediately relaxed and all shared glances.
“What is this about then?” Allison signed carefully.
“I wanted to tell you guys I’m. Uh,” Ben gave them a nudge and a nod, reassuring them they can do this.
“I’m nonbinary.” They blurted in one breath. Their eyes were wide and he was frantically looking at each of them awaiting their reaction.
“I’m not familiar? What is this term. Nonbinary?” Five asked and leaned forward, ready to listen.
“It’s um, well, Ben knows more about this then I do but basically I don’t identify as a man. Or woman. I’ve never felt like either so...” Klaus trailed off
“Well I can’t really say that’s a far fetched concept to wrap my head around. You’ve always just been Klaus so this makes sense.” Luther pondered aloud almost like he was talking to himself.
Allison nodded. “I love you no matter what Klaus.” She signed and gave him a big smile.
Klaus signed thank you, feeling themself already getting emotional again.
“I could’ve told you that, K-Klaus. Is that name ok-okay still?” Diego asked and signed.
“Mmhmm! And I don’t think I really like he/him pronouns. They make me all,” they waved their hands in a dramatic motion and made a “ufjsjfjs” sound
“Dysphoric?” Diego finger spelled, knowing all too well what that felt like.
Klaus took a sharp inhale and snapped their fingers.
“Yes! Yes that’s it. It makes me uncomfy.”
“Now there’s two trans people in the family, one ace, five queer, and only one cis straight.” Vanya giggled and pointed at Luther at the last bit which earned the roll of his eyes.
“I’m the minority now.” He retorted in a fake ‘hurt’ voice and pointed at himself.
“It gets better.” Allison signed next to him and pat his shoulder.
The entire family bust out laughing, the quiet house filled being filled with their joy.
“Thank you for trusting us with this, Klaus.” Five stood up and walked over to his sibling and stopped right in front of them and turned around expectantly.
“Family hug time!” Vanya exclaimed and jumped right up. She attacked her sibling with a hug and the rest got up to do the same.
“Who ever would’ve thought it would take the end of the world for the Hargreeves to finally develop communication skills.” Ben’s voice was muffled in the middle of the 7 bodies but everyone heard him clearly.
“Let’s go shopping, yeah? I want to blow more of father dearests money on some new dresses. The ones I have are a bit dated.” Klaus suggested as they tried to wrangle themself out of the hug to go fix their makeup.
Everyone broke apart and watched their sibling dash up the stairs before giving anyone a chance to respond. Guess they were going to the mall.
But they would be going together. Even if that meant spending an hour in and out of the changing rooms as Klaus put on their own fashion show. They all enjoyed their time together nonetheless.

3 Year (Billy Hargrove x reader) SMUT
This is a request I got from the lovely @montanagirlatheart
“Could I request an imagine where the reader knew Billy/Max in Cali. They were dating but broke up when he moved. Max calls to tell her how bad he’s gotten. Her family ends up moving to Hawkins and she doesn’t tell him. She shows up at school to surprise him! He’s excited but feels bad about the girls he’s been with. She gets jealous cuz they’re all skinny/pretty. If it could be with a not skinny but a little bit bigger reader too? Billy has to win her back? Also smut always welcome! Thanks!“
I switched it up a little bit but I hope you all love it! REQUESTS ARE OPEN LOVES
                                -------------------------------------
“Wait. What?” you said as tears pricked the corners of your eyes. You mouth hung open, unsure of what to say.
“Babe, shh, it’s okay, c’mere,” Billy said, pulling you in to his open arms.
“W-what do you mean you’re moving? You can’t move! What about school? Your friends? What about me…” your voice trailed off as you started to reluctantly accept that your boyfriend was moving across the country.
“I know sweetheart, I know. It won’t be for very long though alright? I’m just gonna finish high school then I’m gonna come right back.”
“You promise?” you said, sniffling as the tears streamed steadily down your face.
“I promise.”
                      ————————————————————-
3 YEARS LATER
“Honey, is everything packed? Are you ready to go?” you mother shouted, her voice echoing throughout the house. You sighed and threw your things sloppily in to a suitcase.
Billy had promised to come back to California. He promised he would come back to you but he lied. 3 years passed and you never heard from him again. To say you were sad would be a harsh understatement. You were devastated, you couldn’t eat, couldn’t sleep, couldn’t really do anything. You lived each day in misery until you just became numb.
What were the chances that your dad would get a job offer at Hawkins Lab, the same Hawkins that your beloved Billy had left you for. You looked at the framed picture you still kept of you and Billy at your first school dance. He was so cute with his baby blue eyes, his blonde curls, and a goofy smile as he held you with everything he had. You never stopped loving him, and as dumb as you felt not getting over the boy who broke your heart, you felt that a part of you would never stop loving him.
“Y/N let’s go! The cab’s going to be here soon!” your father yelled.
“I’m coming!” you screamed back. As much as you knew you shouldn’t, you threw the old photo in your suitcase and zipped it up, dragging your suitcase down the hall.
The drive to the airport was brief and before you knew it you had stepped foot in to the bustling airport. You were miserable. You didn’t want to leave California, it was your home. You loved the beach, the waves, the palm trees, even the sketchy Chinese food place down the road.
“Come on sweetie, it’ll be great! It’s an adventure. You’ll make friends before you know it,” your mother said with a kind smile. You gave her a look of disappointment laced with a tinge of anger. “Now honey, I know it’s not what you wanted but it’ll be good for us. Your father got a new job, pays a heck of a lot better than his old one, and it’s a cute little town.” Your mother was the kindest woman on the planet, always looking on the bright side of things. You rested your head on her shoulder and patiently waited for your flight to be called over the loud intercom.
You soon boarded the plane and shut your eyes, hoping to get some sleep before you entered hell. After what felt like five minutes your mother nudged you awake.
“We’re here honey, time to wake up!” your mother said excitedly. You groaned and opened your eyes, taking a moment to adjust to the sunlight pouring in through the window. Your trudged to the exit of the plane before stepping off, headed towards your new life.
“I don’t understand why I couldn’t just stay in California. I’m 19, I’m an adult,” you huffed.
“Now honey, you might think you’re an adult but you’re so young, you’ve got plenty of time,” your dad said gleefully. You rolled your eyes and waited for your luggage to come around the belt before following your parents to the car they had rented for the time being.
The drive wasn’t too short but you groaned at the sight of the cheesy “Welcome to Hawkins” sign you drove past. You took in the small town around you, seeing the middle school and high school, an arcade, a grocery store, and not much else. You rolled your eyes and threw your head back against the head rest. You pulled in to the driveway of a small white house, cute but small, but nothing compared to your house in California.
Once you had unpacked what you could and settled in you took a deep breath.
“We don’t even have a couch. Or beds. Or anything for that matter,” you yelled, frustrated at the whole situation.
“Well honey, they were supposed to arrive with us but turns out they’re coming in tomorrow so we’ll just have to make do with what we have,” you mother explained.
“With what mom? We have literally nothing. We have our clothes.”
“Now honey don’t yell at your mother,” your father intervened. “We rented a hotel room for the night until our things get delivered tomorrow.” You sighed heavily and turned around, pinching the bridge of your nose in an effort to relieve yourself of the headache that had been growing.
“I’m going for a walk, I’ll see you later.”
“Bu-“ Your mother pushed down your fathers hand and looked at you.
“Go ahead sweetie, be back before dark,” your mother said as she offered you a kind smile.
—————————————
The grocery store was empty, not surprising in a hick town like this. You looked around grabbing yourself a pack of sour gummy worms and headed up to the front.
“And a pack of Camels please,” the cashier nodded and grabbed your things, placing them on the counter in front of you.
“That’ll be $1.50,” she said with a smile. She had short, dark hair and friendly eyes. “You don’t look very familiar and trust me, in a town like Hawkins that not too common. What’s your name sweetie?” she said.
“Oh… Uhm Y/N.” She reached out her hand as if to shake it.
“Joyce, nice to meet you. Don’t worry, it’s not as bad as you might think Y/N,” she said with a wink as he handed you your things. You hummed and grabbed your cigarettes and candy and nodded at her with a slight smile. She waved goodbye as you exited the store in to the crisp cold. You walked around, looking at the small shops and store around you, the bustling arcade, the centre of it all.
“Y/N?” You heard a voice from behind you and you turned around. Your eyes immediately lit up as you ran towards the young girl you had always considered your little sister.
“Oh my God, Max? Holy shit, you’re not small anymore! You’ve gotten so big! Come here I missed you punk!” you said to her with open arms, a wide grin on your face. She ran towards you and wrapped her frail arms around your torso. “How have you been kid?”
“Oh Y/N, I missed you,” she said, unwilling to let you out of her arms. Every part of you wanted to ask how Billy was but you knew better than to open that door. “Why are you here?” Max questioned.
“Dad got a job at Hawkins Lab, so here I am,” you said with a smile. You heard the revving of an engine and you turned around. There he was. He looked older, more mature. He didn’t look like your Billy. You noticed his arm around a brunette, she was smacking her gum and looking at her nails but she was there with him in his car. You felt your earth shatter, your heart felt like it had been ripped from your chest and stomped on. The colour drained from the world around you and you felt like you were frozen, like you couldn’t move, you couldn’t stop staring at her, desperately wishing it was you. But you had no right to feel like that. That all stopped when he moved away and never spoke to you again. You weren’t his and he wasn’t yours anymore.
You felt a slight tug on your sleeve and you looked beside you to Max. The tears were pouring down your face, you weren’t in control of of anything anymore. She looked at you with a look of pity, a look you had always despised.
‘Y/N I-“ Your broke her off before she could finish her sentence.
“I’ll see you around Max.” A sad smile adorned your face as you turned around and left. You walked away just like he did.
                           ————————————————-
BILLY’S POV
“You’re a dumbass, you know that?” Max spat at her step brother.
“Hey! Watch who you’re talking to,” his voice boomed.
“Guess who I saw today Billy?” Max said angrily.
“Jesus, I don’t care,” he said as he lit his cigarette and continued lifting the heavy weights.
“Y/N. I saw Y/N today Billy.” He froze and the weights dropped in front of him. He slowly turned to Max, a menacing look on his face.
“What the fuck did you just say Max?” He staked towards her, slowly backing her in to the wall.
“I saw Y/N today Billy. Her dad got a job at Hawkins Lab and guess what she was welcomed with? You and some dumb bimbo you’re always with,” Max’s voice was getting louder by the second. Max had always loved Y/N. She was the only one that could get Billy to be nice to her. She was the one to protect her when things got a little rough at home. Y/N would take Max to the park and watch her skateboard or Y/N would take her to a movie. Y/N was Max’s best friend.
Billy wiped his face with his hands as he backed away. Max could see his body starting to shake with anger, she hated this Billy. So did Y/N, whenever Billy got like this she would always calm him down, a saviour to both Billy and Max. Billy paced around the room running his hands through his hair.
“FUCK,” he screamed, slamming his fist in the wall. He felt a tear slide down his cheek as he rested his head against the wall, his breaths coming out in short huffs. “Tell me again Max.”
“Her dad got a job at Hawkins Lab so they moved here. Y/N saw you in the arcade parking lot with whoever that was. She bolted Billy.” His heart was crushed. He didn’t know what to do. He loved her, he always had and he knew he always would but when they had moved his dad had cut off all ties with California, including Y/N. It was the hardest thing he had ever done so he drowned away the hole it left in his chest. He started drinking more, smoking more, he would bring random girls home every weekend, anything to forget about Y/N. He couldn’t handle the pain of being without her.
“Do you know where she’s living?” Max shook her head and stared at Billy. The bar. He knew Y/N, she had a near perfect fake ID and whenever things got to be too much for her she would head down to the bar to play some pool and have a drink. She was so predictable at times but he loved her for it.
He started up his Camaro and raced off his street to the local bar.
As he expected there she was. Beautiful, exactly how he remembered. Her long Y/H/C hair, her sparkling eyes, the way she always bit her lips when she was about to shoot. He stopped at the entrance, unsure of what to say to fix everything. He hadn’t really thought this out. Every feeling he had repressed came to the surface. He decided to bite the bullet and walk over to her. His first instinct was to turn on the charm but he knew her better than that, that would never work. She had always said Billy Hargrove you’re gonna kill me with that charm and I wanna be alive, just be yourself baby. He could hear her voice in his head as she scolded him in true Y/N form. He walked towards her, it felt like he had 75 pound weights pushing down on his chest.
“Y/N,” he mumbled, her eyes looking up to him. His favourite part about her was her smile, he lived for her smile, did everything he possibly could to see her smile, it filled him with complete and utter joy, but the look she gave him was anything but a smile. Her face stayed straight but her eyes told a different story, they screamed defeat and sadness.
Y/N POV
“Y/N.” You heard your name and you knew who it was. His voice was imprinted in your brain. The voice that once made you so happy had turned in to a voice that crushed your soul. You looked up at him, daring yourself to be brave for once. You met his eyes and you felt a tear slide down your face.
“No, no, no, baby don’t cry, I’m right here.” At one point his voice may have sounded soothing but when he reached out to wipe your tear you flinched away from him, harshly turning your head so he couldn’t see you cry. He breathed out deeply and rubbed the back of his neck. He knew you better than anyone so he knew that your sadness showed itself through anger. You may have been angry but you were devastated, all because of him. “Y/N I’m sorry. Please, please, please let me explain. We can go back to my place, I’ll make you hot chocolate, and we can talk, okay?”
“Yea? Back to your place Billy? The same place where you fucked every god damn pussy in the god forsaken town?” You were raising your voice, aware the people in the bar were diverting their eyes to the scene in front of them.
“No Y/N. It’s not what you think, please. Let me explain. You don’t have to forgive me, I fucked up, I know but please, can we talk?” You looked at his baby blue eyes, no matter how hard you tried you could never say no to those eyes. You nodded and downed your drink, walking past him to the door.
“Baby steps,” he said quietly, reminding himself that this wasn’t going to fix itself overnight. He opened the car door for you then slid in himself. You sat in silence until you pulled up to a pale yellow house. His house in California was much nicer, you thought to yourself, making a mental note of your surroundings. He led you to the front door and you were greeted by Max as soon as you stepped through the doorway.
“Hey Max, how’s it going kid?” You said with a smile that didn’t quite reach your eyes. Billy gave her a look, silently telling her to go to her room.
“Alright. Explain.”
“When mom died and he got remarried it was okay. You know everything, so I’ll skip that. When we moved here everything got worse. He started hitting me more, yelling at Susan more, yelling at Max. He’s always been an angry guy but it got worse, so much worse. He made sure that everything from California was burned. Pictures, phone number, posters, anything and everything. He took you away from me. I didn’t know what to do Y/N. I missed you so fucking much. I have thought about every single day for the past three years. I was heartbroken. I couldn’t eat, I couldn’t sleep, I couldn’t do anything.” Hm sounds familiar, you thought to yourself.
“I had this hole in me. This deep hole in my heart that I couldn’t get rid of. I tried to forget about you but I couldn’t do it. You were in my every thought, God I just loved you so much and I didn’t have you with me so I tried to find other ways to cope. I started drinking more, smoking more, I was so angry that he took you away from me that I started to take it out on other people.” You sighed and closed your eyes. This wasn’t your Billy. He paused for a moment, thinking of his next move.
“And what about the girls Billy? Y’know, I never touched another man since you left. I couldn’t without thinking of you. You were my everything Billy and you just left.”
“YOU THINK I HAD A FUCKING CHOICE Y/N,” you were used to his yelling, an unfortunate trait he had inherited from his father. You looked at him, unfazed by his yelling. “Leaving you destroyed me Y/N. I haven’t fucked another girl in three year Y/N cause all I saw was you, crying when I left you. I couldn’t do that to you. I felt so guilty Y/N, I thought that maybe if I tried to be with other girls it would get better. That maybe I would forget for a while but I couldn’t. I just couldn’t.” He was looking down, shaking his and and you could see the tears fall on to the table.
“Billy I needed you and you didn’t even try to contact me. I waited for you. I waited for a call, a letter, something!” You were getting heated, you could feel the blood rush to the tips of your ears. You stood up, turning so you could take a deep breath. He followed suit and came to stand behind you, wrapping his arms around you as if you weren’t hurt. You pushed him off and pushed his chest. He stumbled backwards but never once did he retaliate.
“I. Hate. You. Billy. Hargrove,” you said, lightly punching his chest after every word. Before you could control yourself you collapsed in his arms, a loud sob leaving you trembling lips. “God I hate you so much. I cried for you Billy.” He wrapped his arms around you and you sunk in to his warm chest. He placed a daring kiss on the top of your head and rested his chin atop your head.
“Shh baby girl, I’m here. I’m right here with you.” He soothingly rubbed your back as you cried, letting out all the pent up emotions you had felt for years. He kissed your head once again, wrapping his arms around you tighter. “I love you Y/N. I always have, and I always will.” You sniffled and pulled away, looking deep in his ocean blue eyes. You could see his eye were bloodshot, a sign that he had been crying just like you. You wrapped your own arms around him, breathing in his cologne.
“Billy is this new cologne?” you said, your face scrunching up in displeasure.
“Yea, it is, you like it?” he said with a goofy smile.
“No Billy, it’s awful! What happened to your old one?”
“I wanted to switch it up!” You laughed, enduring the awful smell, you relaxed your head back on his chest.
“Next thing we’re doing is getting rid of that cologne. I like your old one so much better. You smell like an… old man in a nursing home,” you said as you giggled.
“Old man! I’ll show you who’s an old man babe,” he said with a wink. “That is, if you want to. I love you Y/N. You mean everything to me. I want you back Y/N, I’m lost without you.” You nodded and he took your hand, leading you towards his bedroom.
                               ——————————————-
Sex with Billy had always been amazing. He left you speechless every time. He was a selfless lover, always putting you before himself; he would make sure that you reached your climax well before he did, leaving you a content, sensitive mess. He could be so gentle and loving, showing his every emotion through his actions or he could be rough and domineering, either way you were always left satisfied.
His large hands groped your breasts as your lips connected in a fiery kiss. He ran his hands along your body, making sure to touch every inch of your precious body. His hands ran over your supple stomach, his favourite part of your body. He would always say how much he loves it cause it’s just so cute and squishy. He loved your stomach, he could spend hours kissing you all over. He slid down your body, his fingertips leaving a gentle touch on your thighs - another part of you he adored always saying that they were the perfect pillow because he didn’t have to leave you.
“God you’re so beautiful Y/N. Just love everything about you.” He popped the button on your jeans and slid the zipper down as he yanked your pants down you legs. He groaned at the smell of your wet pussy god how he missed that smell. He pulled your panties down as well leaving your bottom half exposed to him.
“Billy,” you said in a strangled tone. It had been so long since someone had touched you so intimately. He looked up at you with raised eyebrows, allowing you to continue your sentence. “Billy I love you but enough foreplay. I need you so bad right now, I’m dripping for you,” you begged. He stood up and towered over you. He had definitely grown since the last time you saw him. He stood tall and muscular before you, his soft tan skin stretched over the muscles he had acquired. He looked at you with a lopsided smirk and you knew you had started something. His lips smashed against yours, his hands placed on your cheeks as if he never wanted to let go.
“Y/N I love you so much but this is not the time for gentle,” he said, a devilish smiled adorned his face. You absolutely loved this side of him. “Now Y/N, you’re gonna be a good girl for me alright?” You nodded your head frantically. “Take your top off princess and lay on the bed.” God you loved it when he called you princess.
You did as he asked and pulled your top over your head in what you hoped was a sexy manner. He smiled and flattened the hair that had lifted in the process. You did as he asked and laid down. You looked up to him awaiting his next move.
“Billy please,” your said quietly, your eyes fluttering shut. He stood at the end of the bed and thought of his next move.
“On all fours baby, I changed my mind.” You switched positions without thinking twice, your bare cunt was on display for him, glistening under the soft glow in his room. You heard his deep breaths behind you as he grabbed and played with your thick ass cheeks. His thumb briefly ran over your pussy, collecting some of the wetness that had gathered. ‘All for me baby?”
“All for you… Daddy.” He always loved that term. It would turn him ravenous, as if he could never fill his desire for you completely. He growled and before yu could say another word he plunged himself in to you. He’s a lot bigger than I remembered, you thought to yourself. He started pumping mercilessly, filling you completely with his huge cock.
“You like that baby girl? You like when Daddy pounds your pretty little pussy. God I missed you.” You moaned at his words, unsure if you could vocalize what you were thinking. “Answer me princess,” he said with a harsh slap to your ass.
“Yes! Yes I love it! I love when you fuck me Daddy. I love it so much, slap my ass baby,” you screamed for him. His hand came down once your bonding ass cheek once again, a flood of wetness pouring over his cock.
“That’s it baby girl, nice and wet for Daddy.” His filthy mouth only turned you on further and you could feel your release building.
“I’m so close, fuck keep going. I need you so bad, cum for me Daddy,” you begged.
“You want Daddy’s cum?” His pace picked up and he was ramming his hard cock in to your thirsty cunt. With a final smack to your bum you came. Hard. You came all over his cock, egging on his release. You convulsing pussy pushed him over the edge and he was coating your walls with his cum. You both moaned at the feeling of your mutual release before collapsing on his bed. He slipped his dick out and you both winced at the loss of contact.
“I love you,” you mumbled in to his chest as he pulled you in.
“I love you more,” he countered.
“I’ve gotta pee babe, where’s your washroom?” You grabbed his shirt and pulled it over your head, grabbing your panties and sliding them on as well.
“First door on your left babe.” You exited the room and quickly found the washroom. As you exited you saw Max standing in the hallway, waiting for the bathroom after you.
“You guys are gross, can you be quieter next time?” Max said. You blushed and nodded, rushing back to Billy’s room.
You snuggled in beside him and wrapped your arms around his torso.
“I have to go Billy,” you said quietly. He groaned and pulled you in tighter. “I’m serious! You know my parents, if I’m not back soon they’ll freak and knock on every door in town. He huffed and reluctantly stepped out of the bed, grabbing pants and throwing you a pair of his sweats - you always loved to wear his clothes, it made you feel safe.
He pulled out of the driveway and sped towards your house, giving you a passionate kiss before letting you get up.
“I’ll see you tomorrow Hargrove, I love you,” you said as you blew him a kiss.
“I love Y/N, I’m taking you on a date tomorrow,” he yelled as you stepped away from the vehicle. He sighed as he watched you walk off and he smiled, genuinely smiled, for the first time in 3 years.

Who in your family has been married the longest? (and how long?) My grandparents on both sides were married for over 50 years. I don’t know exactly how long. When did you last travel alone? Where were you going?  Small trip to the big city close-ish to me. Do you take your shoes off when you come inside?  Yes. What was the first color you ever dyed your hair?  I got light blonde highlights. What was the first social media site you ever used? Myspace. Do you have any exes you really regret dating? I have one. Of all your friends & family, who has the most nicely-decorated home?  One of my boyfriend’s uncles. Their home could be featured in an interior decorating magazine! Have you ever been catcalled?  Yes. Are you allergic to any dogs? Thankfully, no! Have you ever touched a plant and had hives shoot up your arm?  No. Do you think dragonflies are cool? Yes! “Come on Papa!” the little merman called out to his father who immediately held a finger up to his lips.
“Quiet Bae,” the older merman warned gently, glancing around the empty clump of beach. Looks were deceiving however, as he had learned the day he first met Belle.
He and Bae had first met Belle one day when she had stumbled onto the beach. It was a bit odd to see a human in this section of the beach. No one ever came to the small cove the mermen had called their home for a little over a year now. It was too far from the loud docks and eateries the humans thrived on, and the waves were too low to satisfy the ones who brought their giant boards.
Rumple, despite both his and his son’s curiosity, had made them move on, and considered leaving the town once and for all. The day Belle had fallen off a boat and nearly drown had been the point that everything in their quiet, inactive lives changed. Upon taking her back to the cove to recover, Belle had taken to their existence surprisingly well. Rumple had been weary at first, having had a bad experience with a human in the past and not knowing if Belle was trustworthy. He had to protect his son after all.
But Belle had proved herself an unofficial mermaid in no time, and soon she was a permanent part of their lives. She went on adventures with them, helped them nurse the injured birds and sealife back to health, and brought them treats during each visit.
“There she is!” Bae said excitedly, gliding to where Belle was setting up on the beach. She heard Bae and her face nearly split in two.
Rumple felt the familiar flutter in his chest at the sight. His son must have sensed it, as he glanced back and gave his father an all-knowing smirk.
“You like her, don’t you papa?” Bae had asked him one night as they watched the waves descend.
“Of course,” Rumple answered safely. “She’s much different than other humans.”
“No,” Bae scoffed. “Really like her.”
Rumple knew what his son meant and knew that he did indeed feel something for Belle. How could he not? She was so caring, so intelligent, and just saying her name filled him with a deep-seated adoration for her.
But soon, reality would sink in, and he was reminded that he, a merman, could never be with her.
However, he refused to think about it and instead focused on the present, and in the present Bae was gliding into Belle’s lap, so comfortable in her arms, as he searched eagerly through her bag for today’s treat.
“Bae, manners,” Rumple reminded his son as he glided to Belle’s side.
“It’s fine Rumple,” Belle chuckled as she ruffled Bae’s waves of curls which were starting to grow over his eyes.
Bae was in his fifth year now, and still had the innocence and wonder of a young one. Unlike his father, he didn’t have a blemish on him, a reminder that the world had been good to him. The fin of his seaweed-green tail was still intact, and would hopefully remain that way for the rest of his days.
Bae gasped in delight when he found Belle’s treat.
“Gummy worms!” he exclaimed, ripping the package open with his sharp teeth. He had been weary to eat the sugary insects the first time Belle had brought them to the mermen. Worms were a last-result meal for merfolk, and were often dangerously pilfered off the hooks of fishers. Once Belle told them that these kinds of worms didn’t crawl back up, they instantly rivaled with pudding as their favorite snack.
Belle managed to fish out a few before Bae dug in and offered one to Rumple. His fingers graced against her palm as he took it and they gave each other a shy smile.
“Belle?”
Belle nearly chocked on her candy and frantically looked around for the source of her name. By the time she turned back around, Rumple and Bae were already swimming safely to the cluster of rocks just off the cove, just close enough that they could hear the greetings of the new humans.
“Papa…” Bae’s tiny voice squeaked.
“It’s okay son,” Rumple whispered as he and Bae ducked behind the rocks. Belle didn’t betray them, he told himself repeatedly. She couldn’t have. Someone must have seen her. That by itself was a problem, but they’d get to that later.
“Stay down,” he told him gently, peaking out from behind the rocks to see three humans carefully making their way down the sand dune.
One was an obvious male and was carrying a load of supplies. The other human was wearing a flowing skirt, but their hair was short and black, something Rumple wasn’t used to seeing on a human female. The last human was small, about Bae’s size, and had long blond hair that bounced as she ran into Belle’s arms.
Belle glanced to the rocks as she picked the child in her arms, giving Rumple an apologetic half-smile before turning back to the humans.
“Mary Margaret, how did you know I was here?” Belle inquired to the dark-haired human as the blond one squirmed from her arms. Mary Margaret and David were visiting Storybrooke for Emma’s summer vacation. Belle was supposed to be entertaining them, but when they had announced that they were going to go see the sites she took the opportunity to visit Rumple and Bae.
“Your car was around the corner, we thought we’d come see what you were up to.” she explained as she took a few of the blankets from her husband’s arms and spread them over the sand. “Oh it’s beautiful out here, and so quiet. I see now why you keep sneaking away—Emma, sweetie, don’t go out too far!”
The little blonde glanced back at her mother before skipping through the low waves.
Mary Margaret sighed as her husband finally dropped their things. “Kids.” She chuckled.
Belle nodded absently, annoyed that her friend would just show up but more worried about Emma as she got closer to the rocks. The tide was too low. If Rumple and Bae swam away now, they’d be seen, and she knew from years as Mary Margaret’s friend that she couldn’t keep a secret to save her life.
Rumple kept a hand on Bae’s shoulder as the little splashed further into he water.
The merman looked over to assure his son that everything would be alright but found the boy staring at the little girl with wide-eyed wonder.
“Papa, what is that?” Bae whispered.
Rumple followed his line of site to the human child as she splashed further into the water.
“A human, Bae.” He answered quietly. “Just like Belle.”
“But…she’s so small.” Bae said.
Rumple looked the small human over. “She’s about your age.”
“Wow.” Bae said, his voice rising slight from the awe.
Rumple and shushed him, glancing up to find in horror that the little human was staring directly at them. Behind her was Belle, wide-eyed and pale. The child’s parents were too busy setting up their things to take notice of the wonderous event happening between their daughter and the creatures of legend.
Emma however didn’t seem afraid. She didn’t try to alert her parents of them. She simply raised her small hand and waved at them.
Rumple stayed completely still. Even if she was just a child, new humans were still untrustworthy. And loud.
“Bae, let’s move.” Rumple whispered so quietly he wasn’t sure if the words had come out at all. He looked down at his son to motion him away, but found Bae crawling closer to the human. Rumple glanced frantically back at Belle.
Belle calmly waddled out to the rocks where Emma was, turning a reassuring smile to the parents.
“Hey,” Belle greeted when she climbed onto one of the rocks.
“Look Aunt Belle!” Emma shrilled. “Fish people!”
Belle shushed her, glancing back long enough to make sure David and Mary Margaret were occupied.
“Yes sweetie,” Belle nodded, softening her voice for the five-year-old. “Their called mermen.”
“Hi mermen!” Emma greeted so loudly Belle’s heart nearly stopped.
“H-hi.” Bae greeted, more awestruck that fearful. His pale cheeks turned a tinted pink when Emma giggled.
“Their friends of mine. But there also my secret.”
Emma turned away from the petrified mermen long enough to give her god-aunt a pointed look. “Mama says it’s not right to keep secrets.”
“You’re mom would say that,” Belle sighed, rolling her eyes before she got explained the situation in a way a five-year old would.
“Sweetie, do you remember when I went on that fieldtrip with you to the aquarium?”
Emma nodded, her eyes fixed on Bae.
“And you remember that whale we saw in one of the tanks and how sad you said he looked?”
Emma looked at her aunt, wisdom filling her big green eyes.
“The whale was sad because the scientists to put him in the tank took him from his home. If someone finds out about Rumple and Bae…that could happen too.” Belle said, her eyes meeting Rumple’s worried one’s.
Emma turned back to the mermen, her eyes searching them.
“Which one of you is Bae?”
Bae raised his small webbed hand.
“Good,” Emma said, crossing her legs on the rock. “We’re going to be friends.”
“W-we are?” Bae squeaked.
“Mmm-hmm,” Emma nodded. “Best friends.”
Rumple and Belle exchanged surprised looks at the little girl’s gumption. Belle had to hold back a smirk.
“Belle, Emma?” Mary Margaret’s voice echoed to the rocks.
Belle stiffened, remembering the situation at hand.
“So you promise…to keep your new friend safe?” Belle asked.
“Yeah,” Emma agreed with a toothy smile.
Rumple sagged against the rocks in relief. Another day, another disaster averted.
Bae smiled in return, intrigued by this smaller human.
“We better go,” Belle said, noticing when both Bae and Emma’s faces fell.
“Agreed,” Rumple nodded. “Thank you, Belle.”
Belle smiled before picking up her god-niece and waddled back to shore.
“Mama I a new friend!” Emma exclaimed, causing Belle to wince. So much for keeping secrets.
“That’s nice sweetie. Come here so I can put more sunscreen on you. You’re turning brown already.”
“Aw mama!” Emma whined as her mother smeared the thick paste on her shoulders.
Belle chuckled and looked back at the rocks. She could see the torn fin of Rumple’s golden tail peak out from the water as he and Bae swam away. She sighed, exhausted but optimistic for the future.
If she brought Emma out here more often, she and Bae could make friends while her and Rumple spent a bit more adult-time with each other.
She really didn’t see the harm in that.

PDA
Rating: T                                                                                                           Pair: Annie Leonhardt & Eren Jaeger (Modern AU)
Just a lil sorta fluffy one shot to help me get back into my writing game, and to stave off the angst of these two in general.
[Ao3] [FF.Net]
When he rested his head on her shoulder, both sitting on the four o’ clock bus back to the suburbs, she froze, feeling the little wisps of his long wild brown hair tickling at her cheek, listening to his evened breathing.
Since than she thought many times about publicly displaying affection for one another. It had been a year or so since they’d started going steady. Eren Jaeger was a naïve, boisterous, and hot-headed young man. Everything she was not. But despite their obvious differences; they’d been drawn to each other.
Annie Leonhardt wasn’t the type of girl who considered intimate relationships a priority. In fact, she was sure she could have lived her whole life without sharing it with anyone else. Safe for her precious feline roommate, and her father, randomly dropping by most days. Though they were family so it couldn’t count.
But Eren…Well, Eren had entered her life in a typhoon of dare-devil grins, too-big hoodies, early 2000’s pop punk bands, constant bed-hair and various bags of sour gummy worms.
And Annie…Well, Annie always did have a soft spot for people who spoke their mind, and could give less of a shit about what the world thought about them. She was reclusive, but also the type to silently admire anyone who went against the natural flow society demanded. She figured, a little anarchy never hurt anybody.
But, Eren had his faults too, of course. All humans did; sometimes he was too loud, too in her space, too stubborn and in constant need of attention.
Sometimes he grated on her nerves so bad, they would have shouting matches in the middle of the street. She’d be left wondering why she ever chose to be with someone who was her opposite. She’d lock herself in her bath room, pulling the roots of her ashen hair, just wondering. Why. Him?
Then he’d show up at her apartment at two o’ clock in the morning holding a box of donuts, sporting uncombed hair to match with his big green puppy eye’s, and as much as she’d glare him down, Annie knew he wouldn’t leave, and he knew she wouldn’t let him.
Three midnight donuts later, he’d sweep her off her feet, cackling like a mad man while spinning around, and they’d both fall into her couch, out of breath from laughing, and she’d forgive him.
That was them. That was Eren and Annie.
There was only one rule in their relationship; one she’d firmly bestowed herself, because Eren was the second person she had ever been in a romantic relationship with, and the reason why her first had ended was because of this rule.
Absolutely No PDA.
No kissing on the lips while they were out; no embracing each other like lovers, no cuddling on public transport, no tender gestures, or sweet talk. It just wasn’t Annie’s style. As an anti-social, solitary girl; she’d like to keep everything private. That included showing affection for her significant other. Eren never questioned Annie about her reason for laying down this rule. He cared too much about her to pry into her personal conflictions.
She appreciated his understanding.  Besides, in the enclosed walls of her studio apartment, Eren knew she could be as affectionate as she wanted to be. Their intimacy held no bounds, only when it was just the two of them.
And yet…Annie found herself in turmoil.
It’s just hand touching. Just casual friendly physical contact. Just her hand, enveloped in his own. Not an ounce of anything more than platonic closeness would be shown from their body language.
Was she over thinking it?
There wouldn’t be anything romantic about it. Friends held hands all the time. But, Eren was so much more than a friend now, only to her. Others didn’t know of their relationship. Privacy was a virtue.
But…the very thought of them holding hands as they strolled idly down the city park made her cheeks color pale pink, and her palms feel clammy. Her gut coiled itself into a knot of anxiety, just thinking about initiating intimate contact with him in public.
Annie hoped he didn’t notice her embarrassingly red face, or how she distanced herself from his side. A whiny part of her wished he did.
They’d spend their Friday night’s going for a jog in the park. But this time they had stopped short, because Eren just had to pull a muscle from being too careless. So instead of running, they walked. They'd gone around the park in eight steady laps, and they were on their ninth now.
The sun was slowly fading on the horizon, night’s purple sky was edging forth. Children were being picked up by their parents, mostly dog-owners, and elderly wandered Rose Park during this hour.
Eren pointed at some ducks who waddled frightfully back into a small pond as they neared, “Look, Annie, baby ducks!”
Annie followed his finger, spotting two dark feathered ducklings trying to catch up to their mother. Then her gaze slid back to his hand, the feeling in her stomach tightened, she swallowed, turning away.
“C’mon, we’ve got one more lap left.” She continued walking down the dirt path, stubbornly ignoring the awkward churn of her gut.
Eren dropped his arm, his attention taken by the ducklings for a little while more. But one name call from Annie had his legs catching up to her in two long strides.
“So, do you find anything cute?” He asked, out of the blue. They came to a curve on the path, almost at their finishing point. Annie, used to his constant pestering shrugged in response. “Depends.”
He smiled, “On what?”
“I don’t know, what kind of animal it is, I think cats are pretty cute.”
“That’s because you own a cat.” He snorted, “A cat that hates me, by the way.”
Annie gave a roll of her eyes. Up ahead, an elderly couple strolled leisurely down the opposite path. The older man hobbled with a cane in one hand, and his wife in the other. Annie was taken by their presence as they giggled together like teenagers in their prime, her eye’s fell to their intertwined hands, and the woman’s large stud of a wedding ring. She swallowed again.
“Hey.” Eren bumped his arm against hers, his eye’s shone with concern. “You okay?”
Not really. The elderly couple hobbled pass them, Annie caught a glimpse of the husband leaning in to peck his wife on her cheek, and the wife patting his arm affectionately with her free hand.
Not okay.
“Hey,” Eren stole her attention, lightly grabbing a hold of her shoulder, he halted, making her stop along with him. “Come on, no silent treatments, you’ve been looking down a lot, what is it? Are you hungry?”
Annie avoided his wide worrisome eyes, pouting, because she’d been so transparent.
“It’s nothing, I’m just tired.”
“Nah, don’t give me that. I know what a tired Annie looks like and this,” He shook his head, gesturing to her, “is not tired Annie. Really, just tell me what’s wrong, and I’ll fix it.”
She sighed; this was something he could fix, but she didn’t—couldn’t even go through with it. She just couldn’t. She was agitated, and it showed when her clear as crystal eyes met his green gaze. But Eren wasn’t put off by that. He cocked his head, leaning down so he could meet her height, his tousled fringes fell to his cheek bone.
“Is it because I messed up our running schedule?”
Annie scoffed. “No!”
“Then what?”
Her teeth sank into her bottom lip, she chewed, bothered with the words she wanted to tell him, threatening to spill, and god—it shouldn’t be so difficult. Why was it so difficult?
“Annie?"
“I—um…” Her fingers fidgeted, she laced them behind her back. He picked up on her nervous ticks. Eren may not be the brightest, but he was observant, especially of his girl, despite what she thought of him. Annie’s attention was on her trainers, he was going to change that.
She wanted something from him, that much he knew. So, he leaned down further until his lips touched the outer shell of her ear, and he whispered. “Sweetheart, tell me what’s wrong.”
He got the exact reaction expected from Annie, which was rounded sapphire eyes, a cute blush on her cheeks, and furrowed eyebrows, she sputtered, taking a step back, away from his invasiveness, “C-cut it out.”
Eren chuckled, shrugging with his arms open wide like he was asking for a hug. “C’mon! I need to know, tell me!”
Annie stubbornly shook her head, folding her arms against her chest. “No, I was going to tell you but not anymore.”
A half lie that was.
Eren dropped his arms, pouting childishly. “Tell me, pretty please?”
“No.”
“Tell me, Annie, C’mon…Tell me, Tell me baby girl cause’ I need to know!” He shouted in a sing-song voice, Annie ducked her head, arms tightening, her face burning, as she started to walk away from him at a brisk pace, but he followed her with his hands in his sweat shirt, breaking into a musical number. Irritating her to no end.
“Can you quit it?” Annie seethed a group of bikers zoomed by, ringing their signal bells, yet Eren continued singing, the Spanish version… a vein pulsed in her temple.
“Nah, not until you tell me what’s wrong with you!”
“… Fine.” She turned sharply, nearly colliding with his chest. Annie drew in a breath, “I… I want to… I want to hold hands… with you.”
Annie received the exact reaction she’d expected, Eren blinked, dumbfounded, and then snorted, like she’d just told him a horrible pun.
“I’m sorry, what?” He smirked, “I didn’t hear you, the bells and all.”
He was trying to get on her nerves. But Annie had had enough, so instead of telling him again, she showed him, reaching out to grab one of his hands from his sweater pocket, she brought his hand up to her chest, and enlaced her fingers within his.
“There.” She huffed. “Moron.” She added. Eren’s mischievous expression softened considerably, as if he hadn’t expected for her initiate contact with him in public herself, being Annie and all. He stared at their intertwined hands and Annie’s adorable blushed cheeks… and then her bowline lips, pink and soft. He just felt compelled to ask.
“Can I get a pass on kissing too?”
Annie scoffed, going redder than before. “Don’t push it.”
Though as they continued their nightly stroll around the park, she said much later him. “Maybe, we’ll work on it.”
Eren’s grin shone brighter than the stars.
