I've never seen a more undesirable list of songs in my life, this is beyond terrible. Not that I'm an expert and I certainly won't be getting laid on Valentine's (just being honest) but if this was the playlist to fuck to, I'd be better off joining a convent. Also, the list implies that Gen Z is the only generation having sex or something and that it's terribly uninteresting. Who the hell does it with the Jonas Brothers in the background? What is wrong with people?
#sex playlist#not sure if it's the list from hell because things are surely more interesting in hell#music#rants#unsexy#an affront to the senses#an affront to the conscience of the court#It HAS to be a joke to attract web traffic because it just doesn’t make sense

2019 Summer fics I’ve read and enjoyed
Hello friends! As some of you might know already, I took a small break from Tumblr and Fic reading as I had to focus on life for a few months. Honestly, I was almost sure I was going to delete this blog after coming back from travelling but now I’m home it turns out I’m more into reading fics than ever so here’s some fics I’ve read after my break that I’ve thoroughly enjoyed:
Delicate by FallingLikeThis:
Summary: They say opposites attract.
Maybe that’s why nerdy, shy Harry Styles has such a huge crush on rough, brash Louis Tomlinson.
And now, he's stuck in a lift with him.
Word count: 1,492
2,870 Miles by SadaVeniren:
Summary: Harry hated the BT Sports commentators, but considering he couldn’t fly to Baku while eight months pregnant this was all he had if he wanted to watch his husband in the Europa League final.
Word count: 1,508
Moon Dances Over by LadyLondonderry:
Summary: Louis knows that his tail is, frankly, stunning. His iridescent blue scales shimmer in even the slightest sunlight, and his fins have grown since he presented, delicate and almost transparent in their webbing.
He also knows that that means he’ll be one of the first to pick tonight, as the most beautiful omegas are blessed to pick their mates first. It’s considered a huge honour, since the guppies they’ll eventually birth will certainly be beautiful as well, bringing favour on the whole clan.
Louis has a stubborn streak, though. He’s always been rather a fan of mating for love, and there’s someone he’s had his eye on for a long time now.
Word count: 1,982
On the edge of the next nine years by forreveries:
Summary: In which Harry and Louis come out at the Met Gala.
Word count: 2,503

Word count: 3,148
or are you giving it to someone else by louistomlinsons:
Summary: or, louis hears his neighbor having loud sex through the walls and it's not a problem until it is
Word count: 3,337
Understanding Silences by Jennifer_Kaid:
Summary: Staring at the black swirling ink was something everyone did, fantasizing the voice speaking those words, picturing the scenario that would lead them to find their soulmate. Harry did that too, only, he wondered why would those be his soulmate's first words. It was not a light curiosity, it was big question in his life.
Word count: 3,486
tiny exaggeration by jaerie:
Summary: Louis is frustrated that they've been dating for months and still haven't taken their relationship to the next level. Sometimes the foolishness of the past lingers in the present. Louis wants that to change.
Word count: 3,812

getting high in mine by bottomlinsons:
Summary: Getting home from a festival is miserable by any method, but a three-hour train ride is truly the bottom of the barrel.
This time, though, with the help of the cute guy sitting on the floor, it might not be so bad.

Nothing Can Come Between by HamPalpert:
Summary: Louis comes over for film night, and Harry keeps his hands to himself. Literally. But what's supposed to be a secret self-love session quickly spirals out of control.

Word count: 5,330
Hey, Mr. DJ by allwaswell16:
Summary: Harry really, really does NOT want to go out to a club tonight and be hassled by a bunch of alpha knotheads, but against his better judgement, he finds himself alone on the dance floor, barefoot, with an orange in his hand. This is all Niall's fault. At least the DJ is the most strikingly gorgeous alpha he's ever seen...

Memes (Peter Parker x Male Reader)
The memes wanted to come out. We had STEM/nerd me, now have vines/memes me.Sorry, the gif is real cool but Iron Man doesn’t actually show up. Maybe in a future fic. Pride month post #4 haha I’m a procrastinator
Word count: 1686
Tony Stark sent a message out to a few people around the world, informing them that there was something going down in Monaco and he needed people to stop it. Of course it wasn't the Avengers' level kind of problem, but they did need people who could take down a superpowered villain.
Two of those people were Spider-Man and Shuri. Despite the fact that they made jokes over the coms constantly, they never got distracted and worked extremely well together. Peter Parker was horrible at keeping his secret identity, so if course Shuri and Peter knew that the other was a teenager. They bonded over memes and vines and typical teenage internet stuff. Their current situation was no different.
"Shuri, get that guy!" he called into the coms and kicking a traffic light flying at him to the ground.
"Be more specific."
"The bottom left window on the building to your right!"
She began to run towards the window, helping the man out of the building and getting him to safety. A boulder of bricks formed and flew towards Spider-Man. Before it moved very far, it was shot out of the air with one made of ice, effectively stopping it as it dropped to the floor.
"What's up, its ya boi, Frozone!" you yelled, sliding in on a sheet of ice.
"Oh my god! Frostbite!" Spider-Man exclaimed.
"Spider-Man, Shuri! Sorry I'm a little late."
A few more objects from around you began to group together and shoot at the three of you. Spider-Man dodged and webbed them, you froze them, and Shuri blasted them to nothing. A brick nearly hit your arm and you yelped in shock, freezing it quickly.
"Whoever threw that brick, your mom's a hoe!" you shouted into the street.
"Over there!" Shuri called.
You and Spider-Man looked where she was pointing: the roof of a (very tall) building where a bunch of objects were accumulating.
"Look at all those chickens!" Spider-Man gasped.
You and Shuri snickered as he began to climb and swing his way up. You used your ice to get yourself and Shuri up to the roof.
"Hey!" you shouted once you reached the top. "This is why mom doesn't fucking love you!"
The figure turned to you and they threw their arms forward, everything from cars to pencils flying towards all of you. Once again, you all did what you could to avoid getting hit, and Shuri emerged from the stream of objects to deliver a punch to the person's face. They blocked it with their arm, but was thrown backwards by the strength of the vibranium. They got up again and pushed her back with a lamppost. Spider-Man caught her with a web and pulled her next to him.
"I'm gonna rip your fucking face off!" Shuri yelled.
"What did they do to you?" you and Spider-Man asked simultaneously.
You gave each other a high five before turning back to the attacker recovering quickly.
"They fucking pushed me!" Shuri exclaimed, shooting a couple of blasts into the cloud of objects.
"Okay, can we come up with an actual plan or something? Cause we really gotta stop this person," you told the other two.
They just shrugged, and Shuri blasted a path towards the person. You iced everything around the sides of the path. The three of you ran in, you quickly freezing the person in place and Spider-Man webbing them up.
"Give it up. Either you continuously throw things at us that we'll avoid or you stop and come with us," you told them, and the figure looked up.
"I-I'm sorry, what? Why am I here?"
It was a young girl who looked confused and honestly scared out of her mind.
"I don't remember anything. I was with my dad in the dentist's office and then..." she trailed off, her voice breaking and her bottom lip beginning to quiver.
"Hey, you're alright," Shuri said, rushing over and motioning for you and Spider-Man to take the webs down. "What's your name?"
"I'm not supposed to give my name to strangers," she said. "Ow! My elbow! I think it's broken!"
Spider-Man had pulled off the webs and you had let down the freezing on her body to see the elbow that she used to block Shuri's blow with was definitely out of place.
"I'm about to say it," Spider-Man said instantly.
"I don't care that you broke your elbow," you replied, giving him another a high five.
The girl laughed, giving you three a bright smile.
"I know that one! But please, it's hurting."
Spider-Man used the webs he had taken off her to make a sling, and you three helped her up and into Shuri's ship.
"So I'm going to assume it was mind-control, but the powers might be hers," you observed, staring straight into her eyes with Spider-Man sitting next to her. "Okay, I want you to think really hard and bring this into your hand."
You held up a pen flat on your palm, giving her a small smile. She stared at it, squinting her eyes a little before the pen flew from your hand into hers.
"Do you remember anything about the dentist's office? Or where your dad is?" Spider-Man questioned, taking the pen and throwing it back to you.
"I remember I was standing outside, and then there was this really scary man, and he snapped his fingers and I couldn't remember anything else."
"Do you remember what he looked like?"
"Everything was covered. He was wearing a black suit like this one and he had a cape."
She poked Spider-Man's arm, who poked hers back and they began a poking war.
"Well, I guess we're looking for someone else. Someone who knows if someone has mind powers of some sort and can control people. We gotta find her father, fix the city up, and get this little one to safety," Shuri said from her spot at the wheel.
"Ooh, bonding time!" you exclaimed.
"Frostbite, no time for jokes. Only memes. And just to let you know, we'll be there soon."
It was a pretty busy day in the Avengers Tower. Agents were walking around and there was a lot of paperwork. Spider-Man was just laying on the sofa doing his homework and you were making lunch for the two of you. Your alarm sounded and you quickly threw the now finished food onto two plates. You ran straight for your room for your superhero suit.
"Honey, where is my super suit?!" you shouted.
"I put it away!" Spider-Man yelled.
"The world is in danger!"
"My afternoon is in danger! We've been planning this lunch for two months!"
"You tell me where my suit is, Spider-Man!"
He popped into your room, shoving your suit into your hands. The eyes of his suit widened.
"Oh my god. Frostbite. Oh god, you're cute. Oh no."
His alarm went off and he ran out of your room. You touched your face, realising that you had removed it in your stress of finding your suit. You groaned in frustration of Spider-Man knowing your face and quickly changing into your suit, blushing despite your attempts to calm yourself down.
You hummed as you carefully held the now microwaved pastry in one hand, grabbing a fork to take it to your room. Everyone else knew your identity, and Spider-Man was the only one who didn't until you took your mask off that one time. Lately, he was avoiding you, probably because he outright said to your face that you were cute. You didn't really see why that was a problem.
You turned and jumped at seeing someone there placing the plate down on the counter.
"I coulda dropped my croissant!" you exclaimed, putting a hand to your chest. "Who are you?"
"I'm, uh, Peter Parker," the brunet teen told you, not meeting your eyes. "I intern for Mr. Stark."
"Oh, I know someone who interns for him too. I think he might be starting a group. Don't really know why, he can hire the best from anywhere in the world to do his bidding," you joked as you picked your plate back up. "It was nice to meet you, Parker."
You walked to your room quickly, turning the corner and immediately mouthing to yourself curses at how attractive the boy was. Once you reached your room, you set everything down on your bed and went back to close the door, jumping once again when you saw the same boy standing there.
"Holy crap, you really gotta stop that. I have loose fingers, and if I have a weapon in my hand, you're gonna lose your head," you warned. "Not a threat."
"I'm a bad bitch, you can't kill me," Peter replied almost instantly.
His confidence in that one sentence made you furrow your eyebrows at him. You took a few steps towards him slowly until you were in front of him.
"Do I... know you?" you asked.
"I may have called you attractive about two weeks ago and avoided you since then," he admitted quietly. "Hi Frostbite."
"Oh my god. YOU'RE Spider-Man?!" you shouted. "I'm cute?! I'm not cute. Look at yourself!"
He blushed instantly, stuttering a few words in response before giving up and resorting to avoiding your gaze.
"If your name is Peter, and you're really handsome, come on raise your hand," you sang quietly.
He snickered and looked up into your eyes. Without looking away, he took your wrist and raised your hand in the air.
"Your name isn't Peter but I think you're very handsome," he admitted.
You both smiled at each other for a moment before you remembered your heated pastry.
"Did you want to hang out here for a bit? I'm about to go on a Gravity Falls and Adventure Time binge," you told Peter, gesturing to your bed.
"Is this our first date?" Peter joked.
"Hell yeah. I love you, bitch."
"I ain't ever gonna stop loving you, bitch."

24, 42 and 53 from the first prompt list💛
HOO BOY. WE MADE IT Y’ALL.You’re a QUEEN for waiting this long, selen, tytyty ❤️❤️❤️This one was easily the hardest to figure out, so I hope I still managed to end pretty strong!!
Thanks again sister 😚
blurbs #24/42/53 “sorry, I have a girlfriend.” “kiss me again.” “can you please just come pick me up?”
Peter Parker is a grown ass adult, and his girlfriend is his ride. That’s fine and all, he feels no amount of shame toward the matter, because it’s so infrequent, but it’s not always the most convenient thing in the world for either you. Most of the time, he’s happy to have his web shooters be his transport everywhere.
That isn’t an option tonight.
It had been the plan, originally, when he left your shared apartment to go to the Daily Bugle office party. After all, Peter only intended to go for an hour or two. He’s only a freelance photographer and not a big enough fan of his boss to want to hang out with him over cake and punch, so it seemed like it would be silly to make you sit through all the traffic.
Only a half hour in, he’s already regretting his decision to come. Jameson is riling up half the employees with his typical loud mouthing about that absolute menace Spider-Man. Peter had already pissed him off by joking around a mouthful of buttercream frosting that, menace or not, you had to admit that Spider-Man had nice abs.
“I certainly do not have to admit such a blatant lie, Parker! What the hell are you doing looking at his abs in the first place? Maybe if you weren’t so distracted by his physique when you’re supposed to be doing your job I could use some more of your pictures!”
Peter had thought it’d been a pretty funny joke, anyway, and it had made the little vein in Jameson’s neck pop out, so as far as he was concerned he’d gotten everything he could have hoped for out of this party.
Unfortunately, one of the new journalists also thought it was pretty funny.
She stalks over to Peter while he’s perusing the cans of soda near the snack table and announces herself by giggling loudly enough for it to be startling, as if the joke hadn’t been a good ten minutes ago. He turns around to investigate and is met with a look that seems oddly predatory. While it’s unlikely that she’s any real threat, his spider sense flares up a bit.
“That was so funny!” She coos, before reaching past him to grab a bottle of sparkling water, far too much into his personal space.
“Uh, thanks,” he responds, stepping back toward the pretzels.
Oh, jesus.
Peter knows he’s decently attractive by now; a bit more confident in himself than he had been in his youth. There have been several occasions where he’s been hit on in the past few years, but most are pretty tame. This woman seems like she’ll be… insistent. He doesn’t really need it right now. He’d kind of been hoping to sneak out early, pick up some Indian food, and go home to screw around with you for the rest of the night.
“I agree with you, by the way,” she says, twisting off the cap and taking a sip like she’s trying to make sparkling water, of all things, sexy. “Spider-Man is built. The things I’d do, honestly.”
It’s a first, being hit on as Peter and Spider-Man by the same person, at the same time.
“That’s… nice,” he says, glancing around the room in hopes of finding salvation elsewhere.
He catches Jameson’s attention with his awkward look, and silently begs for help. He squints at Peter, hard, and goes back to ignoring him.
Great.
“But you,” she continues like Peter isn’t very clearly visually begging for respite, “You’re that bring home to daddy type, aren’t you? Spider-Man’s too busy to be anything more than a good night, I bet. You’d treat a girl real nice.”
She takes a step forward. He takes a step back.
“Sorry, I have a girlfriend,” Peter says, quickly, throwing his hands up in an uncomfortable attempt to put a barrier between them.
“I don’t see her,” she says, taking hold of the identification card that hangs around his neck.
He pulls her hand off the lanyard. “Pretty sure we weren’t allowed to bring guests,” he contends.
"And?"
“She’s on her way to pick me up,” he adds.
The woman tweaks her eyebrow, looking disbelieving, as she says, “Can’t wait to meet her.”
-
You find it hilarious when Peter runs to the bathroom to call you for help. Once he hears you laugh it off, he finds it kinda funny too, but that doesn’t change the fact that you need to come pick him up. Otherwise, he’ll spend the rest of his time at the Bugle watching his back like a gazelle in the savannah.
“She said I’m the bring home to daddy type, Y/N,” he stresses, “I don’t want to be brought home to daddy. Can you please just come and pick me up?”
You laugh so hard that he hears your phone fall out of your hand, and he smiles despite himself. You’re lucky he loves you.
-
The woman is very displeased when you arrive at the receptionist desk thirty minutes later. Peter watches her eyes narrow as she takes in the sight of you. You’re wearing his old marching band sweatshirt from high school, the one that has MIDTOWN TECH BRASS SECTION above the heart and PARKER printed across the back, and your hair is tied in a knot atop your head.
She looks unimpressed. Peter thinks you’re a knockout.
He knows for fact that that sweatshirt had been in storage.
The receptionist lets you into the office space, but Peter is happy to meet you halfway. Finally, he tries to say, but you stop him before you can. Peter’s never really seen you act jealous, but the kiss you cut him off with is quite a bit more than a greeting. It leaves him dumbstruck.
You pull him from the building, a sly smile coloring your expression, and burst out laughing again as soon as your butt hits the driver’s seat.
“Did you see her face, Peter?” You exclaim, slapping his thigh in your excitement, “She looked like I slapped the drink out of her hand! Who even likes sparkling water, anyway? That was great.”
Peter hadn’t seen her face to confirm this. He’d been too focused on the way that you had grasped the back of his head, the hand you had splayed across his chest, and the curve of your lips against his in a way that he’s never experienced before. Either you were truly jealous or just that committed to messing with his coworker.
Either way, he liked it.
“Kiss me again,” he requests, reaching out to for a fistful of your sweatshirt sleeve.
Oh boy, do you.

Taking Risks
Chapters: 1/? Fandom: Buzzfeed Unsolved (Web Series) Relationships: Ryan Bergara/Shane Madej Characters: Ryan Bergara, Shane Madej
Summary: Events were predictable, people are not. That’s why Shane’s fears usually center around the ever changing nature of others. The what ifs. Non-constants. He’s taken precautions in establishing a tolerance of sorts towards such kerfuffle but there will always be times he has to risk it for the biscuit. He takes a chance on one Ryan Bergara.
They were in the middle of a long drive home when Shane decides to break the comfortable silence.
“So,” His tone is light despite the severity of his admission, hand gliding against the curve of the steering wheel to steady his stream of thoughts. He sees his companion lift his attention off the screen of his phone and stop tapping on what undoubtedly was another list of haunted locations they could get visiting permissions for. “I may or may not feel things differently than most people do.”
That understandably evokes an unimpressed sound from Ryan and a brief crinkling of his nose before he replies. “Yeah no shit, Sherlock. You were the one who laughed at public executions.”
“I didn’t laugh at the public executions, Ryan. They get breakfast at execution events! It’s like going to Disneyland and getting a little restaurant seat so they can watch a parade.” Even thinking about it draws chuckles from him. “How can people not find that hilarious?” Morbid for sure. But there’s still something funny about the whole juxtaposition of how things went back then. It’s easy to just drop the subject. To let the natural flow of their bantering continue in a way that leaves the insides of his chest light with contentment. And for a few moments, he’s tempted to do just so. Yet if he does, he’ll probably never speak of this again. “No. I mean…I don’t feel things when I should be.”
“What? Like being afraid of reasonable shit instead of someone randomly running up to you and injecting you with heroin?”
“Hey! It could happen! That’s a reasonable fear.” The tight band of anticipation eases with each chuckle that’s forced out of him. Shane turns a corner. Regroups. “No, it’s not that. I meant stuff like empathy.”
He feels, more than sees, Ryan’s eyebrows rise several notches. It’s three tense heartbeats later that his companion’s furiously racing mind finally finds enough coherence to spit a reply back at Shane.
“So…you’re saying that you’re someone who doesn’t…care about anyone or anything? Sorry I know this sounds bad and I’m not trying to be an asshole or anything but what are you getting at here?” Shane could see the grimace on Ryan’s face the moment he vocalises his words and he takes comfort in the fact that this is as equally awkward for him as it is for Shane. At the very least, Ryan’s not acting all freaked out. That would have been hurtful.
The lankier of the duo takes another deep breath to brace himself. “Well it’s not like I don’t feel anything. It’s just….harder. I don’t care about most things, especially if they don’t pertain to people in my own social circle and stuff like that. I just care about some things.” His gaze darts with purpose to rest on his companion for a few brief seconds before he turns his attention to the road again. “Some people. And I pretend to care about other things to be, you know, polite.”
That draws an ‘Oh’ out of Ryan. And if Shane looks just a little bit harder to see his expression under the dim lighting of the setting sun, he swears he could make out a ruddier colour staining the cheeks of his friend. But that’s something to read into for the future. Hopefully. It’s curious how it’s easier now once he forced his way through. Not the finding the right words part. Just the being able to continue part. Then again, that’s his problem. Finding the right words to things. “The thing I have. Makes it harder for me to find the right words to say or find the right things to do. Because I don’t process things the way other people do. I don’t feel shit the same way, I guess. Like- Like say maybe an animal died or something like that. I know that it’s probably a heartbreaking thing to people because they, you know, react in a certain way. And I try to uh. It’s like shitting for the bit. I take it as a cue and just kind of lay it out there, follow their example and carry it through. Without necessarily feeling the same emotion. Do I want the animal to die? No. I’m just not bummed out over it. But not everything’s as clear cut as that so it’s difficult for me to know how I’m supposed to react.”
Ryan’s inhale is sharp but Shane doesn’t turn to look at him. He has no way of anticipating the expression on his face and maybe that’s better that way. When Ryan speaks, it’s with a quiet wonder. As if everything somehow made sense now. “You do that. You take a while to come up with shit to say sometimes, I’ve seen your face when you try to phrase things carefully.
For the first time since the entire conversation, it’s Shane’s turn to be surprised. “I make faces for that? Is it obvious that I’m doing it?”
“No no!” He’s somewhat mollified at Ryan’s scrambling to assure him. “It’s not obvious. Only when it’s this close.” A hand bumps against his shoulder lightly when Ryan gestured to their proximity. “Only when people squint really hard and you know, I’ve had to look at your ugly face for far too often.”
A good to honest laugh slips from Shane at the good-natured ribbing. “You like my ugly face. You said faces like mine are attractive with the whole Cumberbatch story.”
“Yeah but that doesn’t change the fact that you’ve got a strange face.” They both fell silent yet again. Three bus stops were driven past before Ryan pipes up once more with another question. “So do you…do you think it’s some kind of uh.” Shane catches him gesticulating out of his peripheral vision. “Do you think it’s some kind of mental thing? Are you..god why is this is so difficult- are you, are you a sociopath or something? Does that make you one?”
His struggling has Shane snorting with amusement. Ryan’s struggling almost always does. This time round, he takes mercy on the both of them and decides to cooperate.
“That’s not the right term and too media cliche-y but I suppose it puts me somewhere on the spectrum. We’re not sure yet. My therapist and I- we’re figuring it out.”
Ryan seems to think that as a satisfactory answer because he nods and settled down once again, though Shane doesn’t have to be a mind reader to feel the cogs in his brain practically working on overtime to process the information he’d been given. “I don’t know what to say to that, man. That’s some heavy stuff. Uh…Thank you? For telling me that. You didn’t have to say it and all but I guess, thanks.”
“Wait, just like that?”
“Yeah, just like that. What else am I supposed to say? It’s strange to me, obviously. But you’ve always been strange. You made the whole stupid Hot dog thing for god’s sake. So this is odd but I’m not gonna judge you for it anymore than I judge your hot daga story. Unless you start killing people and shit. Which you’re not, are you?” The joke’s a morbid one and Ryan’s squinting his eyes at him for comical effect. It shouldn’t make him snort but it does. Shane rolled his eyes briefly at him in return.
“No, of course not. I mean I’ve thought about it. But who honestly can’t say they’ve never thought about running people over when they cut you off in traffic. Besides, you’ve threatened to kill me multiple times. Just because I’ve thought about it doesn’t mean I wanna do it. Everyone’s capable of doing stuff like that, with or without being on the spectrum.”
“Not a particularly comforting thought to mention when you’re currently the one driving but right, that’s fair.” They broke off into bouts of snickering again. Though the next question Ryan asked hits a little too close to home. “So. Have you uh…Have you hurt anyone because of this? Unintentionally or not.” The latter part is hastily added.
"Wow loaded question there.” His fingers twitched briefly. Shane releases a heavy breath. “No? At least not that I know of. Sometimes I don’t realise- wait fuck.” Frustration mars his features. It’d be easy to get away with it if he expressed that he isn’t aware he’d hurt people because he doesn’t mean to. It’d be easy to paint himself in a better light. A more acceptable one. It’d be easier if he pretended to feel some modicum of regret. But that would also defeat the entire purpose of this whole talk he started. This is Ryan. He’s not going to use that sort of information against him- he has no definite proof anyways. Ryan’s better than that. Better in ways Shane sometimes wishes he could emulate. He’s not the type of person to be an asshole like that.
“Sorry I’m….embellishing. Let me try again.” Another deep breath. He forces himself to relax his grip on the steering wheel. Since when did he tense up? “I have. Sometimes it’s unintentional. Sometimes…I have this impulse, you see? I don’t mean for it to be there but it just is. I have this impulse to do or say things just to see how people would react to them. Just to see how far I can push them before they…respond. Not because I want to hurt them, it’s just…I wanted to know what they’re like. How they think. How they feel. How they respond to things. I was curious.” His lips twisted into a grimace. “That impulse makes me inconsiderate sometimes and I’m working on it. I’ve been working on it for years.”
It’s just like what he does. Shutting Ryan in spooky places for longer on purpose. Pretending to sleep so he could watch him get gradually more and more frightened during the rare occasions they’d stay for a sleepover at whatever haunted location. Rationalise away everything when he gets too scared and persisting until he gets annoyed but never too much. He just wants to know, wants to see how far he can push the boundary without having Ryan experience a nervous breakdown. That’s just…how he is.
“I’m generally good at controlling that impulse. And doing our show…helps in a weird way.” Because he could give in to that impulse within limits instead of suppressing it. “I would be lying if I said I didn’t do things on purpose from time to time but….I don’t want to. Not with you. I’ll mess up once in a while though.”
That’s truthfully the only thing Shane could give as an answer. “I’m not saying that you’ve got to feel like you need to accept that or something. I’m just..it’s just gonna happen. Especially when I feel like I’m in trouble or someone does something exceptionally shitty.” He feels hollowed out for some reason. A kind of exhaustion that sinks into even his bones. Ryan doesn’t have to ask him but Shane knows that he’s probably wondering why. Why now? Why tell him?
“I just wanted to let you know.” That impulse. Again, that impulse. But he’s not lying when he said he wanted Ryan to know. “If there was anyone I wanted to know about this, besides my family and therapist, it’d be you.”
Now he’s done it. Thrown everything right there out in the open. Kicked the door off it’s hinges and yelled at spooky bois that are even spookier than the non-existent spooky bois they’re searching for. The ball is now in Ryan’s court.
As it turns out, he doesn’t have long to wait.“Yeah because I’m the only one who can handle your shit and dish it back to you. I’d be old and greying and I’d still kick your ass when you’re being a dick.” He feels the heat of Ryan’s palm before it descended against his shoulder in a slap. Except it stays there for a moment longer, closing in a firm squeeze.
The breathe caught in his throat eases in shaky sputters.
“Alright, so after we’ve gotten this ‘moment’ out of the way and we’ve established that I’ll still kick your ass regardless, can we at least stop by for food? I swear if I have to sit another hour longer waiting for this stupid traffic to hurry up, I’m going to lose my shit.”
Another snort of amusement escaped Shane. Typical Ryan. Quick to irritate and and straightforward, but also refreshingly capable of wading through everything in stride even if it’s out of his depth. This…this is okay. This is better than okay.
“Yeah I can do that.”
A pause.
“Sour Puss Bergara.”
“Shut up, Shane.”
Additional Note: This is a coping fic I’ve written to get some closure for myself and I’d like to thank the writers who placed in genuine effort to thoughtfully write about Shane with AS/PD. I personally am someone who’s on the spectrum and that’s not something I would ever be able to share with anyone in my own social circle. This is as close I’ll ever be able to get to acceptance. Now for the sake of accuracy and to avoid taking too much liberties, I’ll say that in this story, Shane’s on the spectrum like myself instead.

The Beginners Guide to Using Paid Facebook Ads vs. Organic Facebook Ads
These days, Facebook is definitely one of the premier platforms for online advertising of services and products. When is the last time you’ve heard of someone who doesn’t have a Facebook account?
This social network has practically become synonymous with the broader world of social media. With that in mind, advertisers use Facebook to reach a vast number of prospective leads.
But when we talk about paid Facebook ads vs. organic Facebook ads, the question is — which should you use? We’ll explore the intricacies of Facebook advertising and answer the question right here!
Organic Facebook Advertising
When marketers talk about organic advertising on Facebook, what are they referring to?
Simply put, these are Facebook posts that don’t require a financial investment; those that aren’t sponsored by any marketing budget. If we were to make an analogy with the wider world of digital marketing in general, organic ads would be closest to search engine optimization.
The traffic and leads you gain from SEO are organic because you don’t pay for them; you get them because you’ve optimized your website to rank high on Google naturally.
On the other hand, paid advertising is similar to email marketing — a clearly organized and funded campaign. And while we won’t get into the details of email marketing and best ways to utilize it right now, just like with it and SEO, both organic and paid Facebook advertising has its uses.
Organic marketing on Facebook via non-sponsored posts is also great for marketing your products or services; today, it’s practically necessary.
Paid Facebook Advertising
On the other hand, there is also paid Facebook advertising. These posts are easy to differentiate, as paid ads have a “sponsored” tag beneath the poster's name.
You will find that there are plenty of options regarding paid ads on Facebook. There are different ad formats, such as:
Canvas (instant experience) ads
Collection ads
Carousel ads
Video ads
Let’s break down the differences between each type of these ads.
1. Canvas ads
In simple words, Canvas ads represent a full-screen unique experience for mobile users. This type of advertisement is immersive, interactive, and removes the need to click outside of the app to use any mobile content.
The reason why canvas ads are so useful is that they bring brands to life like no other ads.
A good example is Wendy’s “Let’s take it from the top” ingenious idea to take the customers on a magical ride and show them how a tasty and delicious burger is made from scratch!
As you scroll down the pages, you get to see the step-by-step process with vivid images and engaging descriptions.
In just a few seconds, the customer learns not only the process they use, but also sees the product and various options. Once you understand the shape, size, and all the layers of a perfect burger, you get an inviting Call-To-Action button.
2. Collection ads
As the name suggests, a collection ad is a group of images that produce a unique experience for the customer. It consists of a cover photo, usually animated, and various ads for products, all lined in a fine grid.
The customer can scroll down and browse the ads.
Upon clicking on an ad, the customer is then taken on a full-screen interactive journey, where they can review products, make purchases, and much more.
3. Carousel ads
Carousel ads resemble the famous carousel photo gallery you can find on many websites. With the use of photos and videos placed in a specific order, the customer can scroll left and right to see different deals.
Here is how Target makes the best use of carousel ads.
A variety of ad formats isn’t the only thing that goes in favor of paid Facebook ads compared to organic ones; you also get a wide array of options for audience targeting.
4. Video ads
Breathtaking and lifelike images, specialized scripts, special effects, and emotional and exciting music are main features of video ads. As a product, the customer receives a captivating experience that transcends the expectations of what an add should represent.
For an example, here is how Air France used a video ad when the pandemic started, to keep their customers informed of the current options.
In the same manner, here is a video ad from Squarespace that promotes fresh ways to help young people with their careers.
Why Use Organic Marketing
There are plenty of ways organic Facebook advertising can benefit your brand and company:
Brand awareness
Relevance
Engagement
Conversations
If you want someone to have access to organic posts that you make on Facebook they’ll have to follow your business page on the platform. However, once they do, they’ll have access to all of the content you post consistently.
When people keep seeing relevant content from a brand, they begin perceiving said brand as an industry authority for its niche. Companies that have organic content on Facebook have a continuous way of reminding consumers of their existence.
And such a strong presence on social media is incredibly important in this day and age. This is true regardless of whether Facebook is your only avenue for lead generation, and it shouldn’t be.
Quite simply, people expect a brand to have a Facebook page or an account on Twitter and Instagram and depending on the niche, sometimes all of the above.
If people Google your company and find that you’re not active on social media, they may view you as suspicious or untrustworthy. Not having an active Facebook page is definitely one of the biggest FB advertising mistakes you could make.
Also, organic Facebook posts are excellent at sparking persistent engagement with your target audience. This is particularly true when it comes to things that you really wouldn’t put in an advertisement, but you want your audience to know about nonetheless. After all, your business is more than just the service or product that you’re currently marketing.
For instance, EA and other game publishers create and share unsponsored content that doesn’t directly promote their games. Instead, it sparks interest in related topics, ultimately raising awareness about the product as well.
Organic posts are useful for giving users updates about your company culture, providing links to helpful niche articles, or just making them laugh with a couple of witty jokes now and again. All of that is crucial for keeping users continually engaged.
The best part about that is that users can engage with your content directly by posting comments. And when they do, you’re free to reply and start an actual conversation with them. There’s truly nothing better for building trust in prospective leads.

Downsides of Organic Advertising
Naturally, there’s a flip side to any coin, which is why even organic Facebook advertising has its downsides:
Users must follow your page
Lack of targeting
Remember, regardless of how witty, original, and captivating your Facebook content is, if we’re talking about organic posts, users will need to follow your page to see it. Of course, if someone else who follows you shares your content, their friends will see that, but you can’t rely on that mode of user engagement.
That’s why growing a following organically is not as easy as it might seem. Also, audience targeting is practically nonexistent when it comes to organic posts. For such purposes, paid Facebook advertising is undeniably superior.
How to create an effective post to increase organic traffic?
Even though all types of advertising have upsides and downsides, it is crucial to learn how to create content that will attract viewers and increase organic traffic. Here is how to do it in just five steps!
1. Focus on asking the right questions
When was the last time you talked to a stranger? What did you talk about? Can you remember anything specific?
By asking these questions, you are now engaged into remembering something, digging for information. The more you think about it, the more you realize that the focus of that conversation was on asking questions, so you could find out more about the person you were talking to.
The most effective way to drive organic traffic is to create titles that ask important questions, and content of value that provides answers. In over 90% of cases, a user browses the Internet in need of an answer for something they want to find out. Ask yourself, what questions are bothering your clients?
2. The importance of long-tail keywords
When people browse the web, they tend to search phrases that consist of 3 to 5 words. Researching these long-tail keywords is imperative.
When a user is close to a purchase, they will use the selection of words to look for the best product. Let’s say you want to buy an iPhone, but you are on a budget. Here is what you would type in a search query:
used iPhones on sale
affordable iPhone discounts
best prices for iPhones Or, if you are hungry, you would probably look for:
best burgers in town
pizza restaurants nearby
What to eat for dinner?
Understanding and mastering these long-tail keywords is the road towards creating efficient posts that drive organic traffic.
3. Look for enticing headlines – and make yours better!
Everything is in the headline. We already talked about the importance of asking the right questions. However, that is just the first step of the process.
Since practice makes perfect, the best approach is to visit some of your favorite websites or buy magazines or catalogs you like to read. Analyze and study their top headlines and look for ways to improve them.
It is also useful to use BuzzSumo. It is a fantastic tool that lets you search any keyword you want and returns most viewed articles and ads on the subject. You can see real-life examples of headlines that attract users.
Next, you can model those headlines to create better ones for your ads.
This is a great practice that will teach you how to create headlines that drive traffic.
4. Having good content is not enough – you need the right angle!
With so many talented writers in the business, creating engaging content becomes challenging. One of the best ways to stand out from the crowd is to spend time researching a topic of interest, and then write about it from your perspective. Give it your own unique spin.
6. It’s all about the consistency
Once you grasp how to create organic posts that drive traffic, you must approach it professionally. It is crucial to be consistent and produce shareable content every day.
The entire process requires a lot of time and effort, but that’s the only way to stay in competition with the rest of the market.
Why Use Paid Advertising
As you might assume, there are plenty of advantages to paid advertising on Facebook as well:
Variety of ad formats
User targeting
Cost-effectiveness
Revenue growth
We’ve already mentioned this, but there is an ample variety of formats that you can use for paid Facebook ads. There are Instant Experience Facebook ads that can offer an immersive interaction to your target audience, or more straightforward options like video ads.
Regardless of how you wish to reach your customers, Facebook’s paid ads can help you do it professionally and effectively.
Also, paid ads help with the biggest downside of advertising via organic posts, and that’s a lack of audience targeting. When you pay for an ad on Facebook, you can precisely choose who you want to see your content.
Facebook’s insane amount of data on individuals’ interests and purchase habits means that you can instantly get your ads to people who are the hottest leads for your niche. This means a lot more sales than you’d achieve otherwise.
And while organic ads are free, you shouldn’t think that paid ads on Facebook aren’t cost-effective. As a matter of fact, Facebook is one of the most affordable pay-per-click advertising platforms out there. If you want to make sales and drive leads on a tight budget, you can set your caps on ad spending across specific timelines. You’ll never have to worry about overspending on this ad platform.
The key ideas when preparing content for paid ads
As mentioned above, producing quality content is just the tip of the iceberg. Having talent is great, but you also must learn how to pack it and sell it to the customers.
Picking a topic to write about is the most vital part. The goal is to create something not only interesting, but also useful and informative. People don’t want to waste time reading content of no interest. An average person decides whether to stay on a web page or move forward within 3 to 5 seconds.
If the content has no value, they will not read it. To understand what your customers want, you need poll campaigns to find out their interests.
It is also a good strategy to create infographics and use high quality videos. They are both informative and engaging.
1. Use the right distribution channels
It is simply amazing how the world of social media developed over the past ten years. With so many platforms that people use, you have to be smart when choosing the best one for your ads.
Research statistics on your clients and see what social media platforms they use the most. Furthermore, do a testing session and post the same add on multiple platforms. Observe it every day and see where it gets more views and comments.
Picking the right channel to post your ads may make the difference between going viral and staying invisible.
2. What are your measures of success?
Deciding on your KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) is a crucial strategic move. You cannot be successful without knowing what the goals are. Furthermore, this step is vital if you don’t want to lose money.
Understanding the KPIs will help you decide on a budget you will spend for an ad.
To give you an example, let’s say a customer has a value of $1000. If you are promoting a free guide, and about 10% of the customers who download it turn into paying customers, you can do easy math. 10% out of $1000 is $100, and that’s how much you can pay per download in promotion just to break even. If your KPI is cost-per-lead, you can conclude that the expected price per download would be somewhere between $50 to $75.
3. Think about KPIs’ when designing a landing page
The last step is to design your landing page to serve your KPIs. Once the content is prepped and packaged, it needs to be delivered clearly. All elements should be in a visible location, and the CTA button should stand out from the rest.
That’s how you sell an ad to a customer the right way!
Downsides of Paid Ads
You should know that there are a couple of downsides to paid ads as well — for one, you will need to spend time thinking through the analytics of a Facebook campaign.
Otherwise, you could be wasting money on non-deliverable Facebook ads even if you’re following the latest FB advertising trends.
Conclusion
As you may have surmised already, organic and paid Facebook ads aren’t really in opposition.
In reality, they’re both needed if you’re going to maintain an engaging online presence and build brand awareness. While either of them may be better for a specific piece of content, you will need both to remain relevant and visible on Facebook in the long run.
To underline it one more time, it is all about the goals. By understanding what you want to achieve, you will know exactly what type of ads to use, and in what quantity.
Organic ads let you prioritize your loyal fans. You can easily play to their liking and build content that will have a high percentage of success.
They will be entertained, engaged, and enjoy the interactive side of organic ads. Best of all, this strategy is affordable, and, as you slowly build your customer base, the results will be better and better over time.
However, having paid ads also play a crucial role in building your brand. The main benefit is that you can reach a massive pool of potential customers. Paid ads are shown to everyone, not just to the people who liked your page.
Furthermore, with using the wide choice of ad formats, you can be creative, diverse, and break the monotony of everyday Facebook browsing. This strategy will show people that you are ready to invest. That speaks dedication, professionalism, and customer care.
With mixing both organic and paid ads, you can create a perfect setting. While the organic ads play a melody that entices most loyal fans and strengthens your connection with them, paid ads are out there in the wild, “hunting” for any new clients who maybe missed your page somehow. The synergy of both is the best approach to advertise.

Today’s my 10th anniversary of working in advertising (slow clap, please) so I’d like to honour the occasion with my top 10 memories of flirting in the office and wasting my bosses’ money:
10. Back when I was just a baby copywriter I was a pretty regular smoker, and one of my favourite moments in the world used to be going for a smoke and seeing that whomever I had a crush on at the time was already outside. People can poo poo smoking all they want (rightfully so, it’s terrible) but you have to give the habit props for creating a situation where you get to abruptly stand up from your desk and go have a nice private chat with the web designer you really want to bang.
9. One year I doubled as a traffic manager for an agency, and I can’t even tell you how great that job is if you have a crush on someone in the office. You essentially interface with everyone in the office every single day. You get to be the friendly face who makes sure everything is running smoothly for everyone. Everyone. Including that project manager who looks like he should be in the fucking movies and who looks at you in a way that I’m pretty sure has nothing to do with print-proof sign-off!
8. Oh, to be a fly on the wall in the kitchen of an ad agency. The kitchen counter of an ad agency requires more sophisticated game than any bar. Probably the hottest flirting I’ve ever engaged in happened while I was steeping tea. Nothing feels better than looking through a pantry cupboard for your lemon zinger and hearing a familiar voice come up behind you and say, “Good morning.” UGH. Anyone who’s had a crush on someone at work knows this feeling. And my favourite thing in the world is when two people who really want to bang each other have to make small talk. It’s like there are two conversations happening at once.
7. As if ad agencies weren’t already hotbeds for horny people, it’s also industry standard for the staff to get fucking shit-hammered together on a bi-annually if not monthly if not weekly if not daily basis. Whether it’s some creatively-themed “team building” event, or holiday party, or just a few team members blowing off steam over pints, flirting with your coworkers gets stupid easy once the booze starts flowing. I was always game for every last one of these occasions. Always up for any excuse to get a few beers between me and my haaaaaawt-as-fuck creative director.
6. I often fall for the funny guys I work with, and that is some of the best flirting right there. The stuff that doesn’t really look like flirting on the surface, it just looks like coworkers joking and razzing each other. The flirting itself isn’t fascinating, but the breaking point is. The laughter has to stop sometime! Especially if you’re both quietly craving to smash each other.
5. Then there’s the actual work. There’s nothing quite like getting to work with the guy you’re fucking gaga over. Working with someone you have fresh, fun chemistry with usually yields some pretty great results for the project. But that’s mostly just in the beginning. If something starts actually happening between the two of you then there’s a good chance the work will take a nosedive. It’s just really hard to concentrate on script edits when you’ve both seen each other naked.
4. I get a separate joy from flirting with coworkers I’m not even technically attracted to. That’s what’s so fun about flirting. Anyone can be good at it, and sometimes certain pairs of people just have really fucking lovely interactions together, albeit innocent. There’s something so sweet about a flirt that can’t be ruined by fucking.
3. Watching people in their element is really fucking hot. Flirting aside, when you’ve got sexy feelings for someone you work with, sometimes the hottest thing you can experience is just watching them do their job well. I used to think it was hot to hear guys talk about sex, but these days I’m much more turned on hearing a guy talk about process efficiencies and realities of the landscape.
2. Flirting in the office can be a lifesaver for some people. For people who hate their job or family or otherwise feel trapped in an unsatisfying life, having someone to flirt with in the office can keep their fucking heart beating. I wrote a post a while back about how we have to get rid of ALL office flirting if society wants to do away with sexual harassment entirely, and I still believe that’s true, but it doesn’t mean I want to live in a world where no one flirts at work. Because for some people, clicking on the office kettle and hearing that voice say “good morning” is the only thing that’s keeping them going. Inspiring or not, you just can’t deny the power of a good office flirt.
1. Engaging in a sexual act in the office during work hours is an elite club I’m equal parts proud and ashamed to be a member of. JK just proud.

Allison (But Not Allison This Time) and D.J. Fix Your Stupid Problems About Your Best Friend
To be fair, Allison tried on this one.
She wrote me a few days ago asking to bow out of this specific edition. Allison had just taken on two new clients and was now travelling a good chunk of the time. She kept attempting to write this piece but wasn’t happy with it. (After reading her drafts, I concur) Then she did that thing that all weirdos like her and I do – we go all or nothing. In a frazzled state she said, “I can’t commit to this any longer!” She was having a moment. I told her to have her moment, and that I’d handle this one. She’ll come back in the next one. She’s just a spaz.
Here’s what I wrote announcing Allison’s temporary departure.
In visiting Allison last week in her native Ronkonkoma, we (D.J. and Allison) ate fondue at a local juke joint. Allison’s nerves got the better of her and she drank an entire fifth of white zinfandel during the appetizer course. We were asked to leave as Allison became belligerent when she suspected the waitress of ‘giving me a look probably because she’s jealous of my legs.’ Allison, too intoxicated to drive, left her 2015 Honda Accord in the parking lot and we shared a Lyft back to her flat. Thankfully her roommates slept through Allison crashing into every piece of furniture on the way to her master bedroom. She passed out face first onto her duvet and I did the same next to her. In the morning, for a lark I told Allison that I had enjoyed our vigorous lovemaking, but that she should get tested in the coming weeks. She exploded with violent rage and accused me of sexual misconduct, but before I could explain the joke, I found myself outside her condo – door slammed in my face. She still has my iPhone charger, and I don’t dare ask her to mail it back. She’s pretty peeved about the whole thing, even though all I really did was peek through her underwear drawer for a few seconds whilst she snored. I’m going to give it a few weeks before I ask for her to write the column, and I suspect her self-esteem is low enough to consider partnering again.
None of this is true, of course. I’ve never met Allison Arnone in person. I’m not 100% certain she exists. But I’m excited to keep doing this stupid column about your stupid problems. Enjoy.
My best friend and I live four hours apart, so we don’t get to see each other in person very often. We’re also both very busy with kids and family, so phone calls are once a month and very long — on her end. I hardly get to speak. She drones on and on about people I don’t know, complains about her mother, and tries to sell me products from all four of her different independent consultant/representative businesses, from beauty to nutrition to candles to teas — all the while knowing I’m living paycheck to paycheck. Every time I get off the phone, my blood pressure has risen. I love this woman dearly. We’ve been through a lot together, but I can’t seem to even squeeze in an interesting or amusing comment or two. Help.
D.J. – Okay, time for some tough love. It’s you, not her. That’s the bad news. She’s a selfish narcissist with an agenda. Nothing unique there. Tons of people like that roaming around. But… you’re the one who chooses to be friends with a selfish narcissist with an agenda. Here’s the solution – learn how to set boundaries. Work on your own self-esteem and guess what? These people either get in line or disappear. Because a truly healthy person doesn’t attract friends like that. Since I’ve been a tad rough on you, I’m going to end with some good news. She’s unconscious of her own nuttiness. You have the chance to change. She never will. So – change, ding dong!
She watches NON STOP IDIOT (FOX) NEWS. Need I say more? Okay, I will. She quotes idiotic, untrue, totally delusional political factoids at me. I keep saying, WE CANNOT TALK POLITICS. But she continues. I want to stab her in the eye with a fork. Should I?
D.J. – I’ve been listening to Donald Trump a lot recently in speeches and stuff, and he says FOX news is the best news source. And he’s the president! And there’s no way I’m smarter than the president. I barely made it through correspondence school! Plus, he is a big shot developer and hosted a TV show. That’s kind of badass, right? WE SHOULD OBEY OUR LEADERS.
Some like to think that their lover is their best friend. I thought so, at least. We did nearly everything together. I got my best friend a job at a restaurant. I drove her to and from work everyday and night, when she didn’t drive my car herself. She introduced me to a guy “friend” from work…”you’ll really like him” she said. One day she called me and said “hey, come meet me and Vinny at the bar I want you to meet him.” Surely, I agreed. He shook my hand, bought me a beer, and then a few days later proceeded to fuck my girlfriend. I kicked her out of my house the evening that I found out. Since then she’s keyed my car, threatened me, had men threaten me, try to call me for a shoulder to cry on after other men have dumped her…needless to say I’ve blocked her on all social media (she got so bad I had to block her on PINTEREST!) as well as her phone number…she still calls me to this day. She cheated on me after a year of being “best friends” in September of 2016. The end. Thank god.
D.J. – From what I understand, you’re a lesbian who lost her best friend and lover to a greasy Italian dude. Look, this is what greasy Italians do – they turn lesbians straight. It’s in their DNA. Just ask Allison. While she was never a girl-lover, she ONLY dates guys from Long Island with IROC Camaros (aka Italians). They’re hard to resist, from what I’ve read. So while I can justify your friend’s affair, I cannot condone her keying your car. You should hit back by throwing a bucket of red paint all over Vinny’s leather sport coat
Nothing to add. The image is way funnier than anything I could ever write.
She wants to be in a relationship, but does nothing to put herself out there in the dating world
D.J. – We’ve been poisoned by romantic comedies that suggest that Mr. Right just falls into your life, like when he’s seated next to you at a baseball game and he reaches for a foul ball and trips and ends up in your lap and then you fall in love but his best friend is kind of a jerk and he grabs your ass at a happy hour and you have to decide whether to tell him and you do and it strains his relationship and his friend lies and said you grabbed HIS butt and then he dumps you and then he finds out his friend was lying and to win you back he convinces the guy who runs the scoreboard at the stadium to video him apologizing to you in front of 45k fans. I guess what I’m saying is – tell her to hang out at the ballpark!
My brother publishes stories about my dad’s penis.
D.J. – I did publish a pair of stories about my dad’s pair, and I’m assuming this question came from my sister. To which I say this to her – You are free to write anecdotes on your blog about mom’s vagina. It’s a solid formula to drive web traffic. And we’re both in marketing, so we’re used to selling our souls.
Allison – When I saw this question and realized it had to be from D.J.’s sister, I laughed and told him we’re including this submission in the post. I then felt bad for her because I realized she had to be related to D.J., and that just sucks.
I love my BFF, but she has the BIGGEST mouth. I want to confide in her and tell her personal things about myself, my family, my love life (or lack thereof) and other friends and it ALWAYS comes out that she’s told other people what I said. We’ve known each other a long time and she’s great, but how can I get her to keep her trap shut??
D.J. – Short answer is that you can’t. She’s going to blabber forever. So, if you’re harboring a terrorist sleeper cell in your neighborhood, you may want to keep that information to yourself. No wait – I’ve got it! TELL HER YOU’RE HARBORING A TERRORIST CELL. She’s blab to Betty, who in turn will blab to Sally, and before you know it, the FBI will be knocking at your door. But, hey – you’re not a terrorist, so no big deal, right? Then, guess whose door they’re hitting next? Your best friend. She’ll likely be put away on a felony charge of something or other. Then when she gets out of jail a few years later, odds are she’ll shut up about your secrets going forward.
She uses my jokes on social media, then doesn’t credit me. Then when I use my own joke, I’m accused of stealing from her.
D.J. – Here’s what you have to realize – 99% of people aren’t funny. But everyone thinks they’re funny. If you’re running around quoting one liners from Will Ferrell movies, you’re not funny. Don’t confuse memorization with humor writing. I was dating a woman last year who was wonderful in every way – and perhaps her most endearing quality is she would say, “I’m not funny.” And she never tried to make a joke. I loved that self-awareness and acceptance. That being said, I had to dump her. I can’t be with an unfunny person. Wait, I feel like I’ve made this all about me. Oh well. You’re on your own!

Establishing a Kitchen Space Remodeling Spending Plan - Adding Worth to Your Property Value
Establishing a Kitchen Space Remodeling Spending Plan - Adding Worth to Your Property Value
It is really necessary to find out an allocate any sort of property renovation project, and also kitchen area makeover in miami is no exemption.
A word of vigilance: I spent a number of hrs investigating custom home kitchen upgrading expense as well as budgeting on the internet to gather information for this post. I managed right into a couple websites that offered square video pricing for kitchen space renovation. I commiserate with their try to locate a basic procedure to think out cabinetries remodeling rates, this style of tips is actually not located in truth. https://remodelingkitchenmiami.com/
Like everything else in this particular world a home kitchen remodel is actually visiting cost more than you assumed it will and the heavens is actually excess about what it can set you back relying on your tastes. There are several variables that go in to finding out a redesigning spending plan.
There are a number of areas on the web you can easily visit help you develop a standard budget amount to begin with. My individual suggestion is Remodeling Magazine's Cost vs. Value Report which is actually launched by area and also primary city every year. The actually great point about this document is actually that it offers a description of the "normal" project to ensure that you may evaluate if your kitchen space remodel is actually going to fall over or even below the standard. I likewise locate their typical pricing to be actually a precise representation of the prices for our company, so through advising to clients before I even consult with them that they explore this document they are more probable to set up a reasonable budget our team can function within to provide an awesome kitchen.
Personalized Hutch developed with Semi-Custom Cabinets
While Remodeling Magazine's report is actually extremely useful, it is actually still an incredibly one measurements suits all strategy to setting up a spending plan. Maintain reading through if you 'd just like to try to refine your numbers a little bit.
Receive out a pad and also paper as well as take down a few keep in minds about each element as you look at this list:
Aspect 1 Home Value- Consider not just what you believe your house costs, yet additionally the worth of comparable homes in your neighborhood that actually have updates. My favorite site to check out house values is actually zillow.com, just enter your address and you receive an active map along with residence market values and various other relevant information noted straight on the chart. Bear in mind of which homes are actually of identical dimension to yours, have been actually purchased more recently, however possess a higher worth, after that peek in their windows to find what your house appears like. Ok, truly, I was simply joking. If you don't know them perhaps it is actually time to comply with the next-door neighbors and also request a simple excursion.
Compose down each motivational aspect which is essential to you in a kitchen space remodel. Listed below are actually some possible examples: Kitchen is falling apart. You really love to amuse and really want to open up the kitchen as a place to collect.
Factor 5 Size Matters- Determine what portion of your house your home kitchen includes. A tasting of over 100 modern house floorplans of 1000 to 3000 square foot houses disclosed the typical home kitchen square video to be actually 7% of the residence's square video footage. , if your kitchen space is actually larger or even smaller than this standard you may require to improve or even lower your spending plan correctly.
.
Factor 6 Layout- if you actually recognize you're going to desire the sink relocated, an isle sink included, an internal wall structure moved and also an outside door added, at that point you require to incorporate loan to your spending plan well past what a standard face lift would set you back.
Difficult format: the attractive pillar conceals an audio wrapped drainpipe pipeline
Factor 7 Funding- Determine the max volume of amount of money you could afford to invest. , if you are financing your venture you can compute what a lender will likely lend you.. Lenders desire to observe a financial debt to revenue proportion( DTI) of.36 or even a lot less. Your DTI is actually established through taking all your month to month financial obligation commitments (credit rating card remittances, automotive car loans, home loan, etc.) and breaking down through your month-to-month earnings. To determine your max risk-free monthly personal debt increase.36 times your monthly earnings. Right now subtract your existing regular monthly financial obligation coming from this amount as well as you possess a regular monthly budget plan max. Below's a web link to a personal digital assistant that will certainly do the mathematics for you: home mortgage personal digital assistant
Placing all of it Together
The secret to establishing your finances is discovering the percentage of your house's worth you need to make use of as a budget plan rule. While researching this write-up I bumped into suggestions to use amounts ranging from 10% to 25% of house market value. For a home kitchen remodel of any drug that features brand new flooring, home appliances, cupboards, sink/faucet, illumination and taking electrical unobjectionable I discover anything lower than 15% to become a quite suspicious number. I intend on a thousand buck property 10% would certainly be a workable finances, yet on a 200k house a 20k budget plan is actually marginal at best for a full blown kitchen space remodel.
If resell value is necessary to you it is actually important to keept the price of your home kitchen redesign venture within 20% of the current worth of your property. Remaining within this variety guarantees that a majority of the brand-new home kitchen's cost is recouped in raised house value right away, and also the continuing to be expense needs to be actually recovered within 5 years as your property cherishes.
Ok, allowed's run through an instance. Remember, there is actually no exact formula here. Our experts are actually just doing our finest to become as educated as possible as well as make a smart decision regarding the amount of to spend on our kitchen area remodel.
For our example permit's use my residence. It's a fifty's cape cod along with a small square video of 1500.
Element 1 market value: Zillow provides me an estimated value of $167,500, nevertheless, I discover zillow hasn't but updated and also represented the solitary household residences which were actually just recently developed in the industry behind our team with a beginning cost of $270k. Zillow also has our straight video noted at under 1200. Resembles the previous owner performed a little redesign without an authorization. I'm heading to locate my budget on a price of 180k which is actually identical to various other homes locally that are the exact same measurements.
Aspect 2 Goals: My wife and also I love to entertain visitors. To make a kitchen area remodel beneficial for our company we require to lose an internal wall structure to open the home kitchen and also eating nook to the living-room. I'm heading to include 1% to allocate this.
Variable 3 Must Haves: As a previous cook two has to haves for me are a new stove and a really good lp variety( no all-natural gas solution listed here), ideally a commercial range changed for house make use of (actual commercial varieties do not have insulation around the oven, essential for house safety). I'm mosting likely to add another 1% to my spending plan to be sure there suffices amount of money to receive me my assortment and also gas installment.
Factor 4 Longevity: Our company consider to keep in our home a minimum of 4 years. Generally of thumb it takes 5 years for most renovating to appreciate and also redeem each one of its price. Since our team are going to likely be actually here a minimum of 5 years I am actually certainly not going to penalize the spending plan, however considering that there is actually a great chance our company'll move straight around 5 years I am actually not going to enhance it like I would if we were actually remaining a lot a lot longer.
Factor 5 Size of Kitchen: Our home kitchen is actually concerning 140SquareFeet( SF). Clearly this kitchen area is actually going to require some added component and also closets.
Element 6 Layout: We are actually going to change the layout of our home kitchen rather extensively. Our team currently possess a cooktop headland. The selection is actually heading to take place a differnet wall structure as well as the dishwashing machine will transfer to the headland, though our team might channel the headland, move the fridge and also incorporate an isle rather. Regarding the only thing that will not move is actually the sink. I am actually visiting add an additional 1% to my spending plan, once again hoping $1800 (1% of our 180k worth) is sufficient to cover the power and also pipes modifications.
As I pointed out in the past, there are going to be individuals that will claim along with me on that, however going lower frequently doesn't leave you with practical budget numbers for full wasted kitchen area remodels. This provides me a working spending plan of 24% x 180k= $43,200 When I contrast this to the Cost Vs. Value record I see that in the Middle Atlantic Region a Major Kitchen Renovation is $59, 098. On the other palm my kitchen is actually considerably smaller sized than their 200SF criteria, so I believe I'll go with my finances number and observe what my specialist can easily carry out for me in that finances.
Because the cooking area is a high visitor traffic location often, developing an operational layout is actually vital when preparing your cooking area renovating tips. When making your cooking area remodeling ideas you ought to deal with the accessible area you possess and afterwards obtain creative.
Making Use Of Kitchen Remodeling Software
Many of the kitchen remodeling software application is extremely straightforward; the actions are as quick and easy as 1-2-3 or even A-B-C. A traditional or standard kitchen area improvement, if designed over the last decades need to have the "cuneate" basics, where the sink, stove, and also refrigerator perform triangular angles with a large room in the kitchen area facility, to ensure that it would be simpler for the mother or even the female of the house to relocate all around.
Bring in an excellent little kitchen space remodeling layout factors you to the lots of unique cupboard styles as well as surface styles providing your tiny kitchen space a superb feeling of room. The involved kitchen design renovating design plans specifically are actually real-life award victors, and also along with its own cutting-edge process, the entire program is specific to feel free to along with its own client-driven system.
The details is actually collected you can begin to put all the pieces all together, and also figure out just how you may adjust your cooking area upgrading venture wishes along with you budget restrictions. Hey - Pat from StarterStory.com here with another interview.Today's interview is with Sam Evans (u/haulincubes) of You Call We Haul Junk Removal, a brand that makes junk removal servicesSome stats:Product: Junk Removal ServicesRevenue/mo: $18,000Started: May 2016Location: Central PennsylvaniaFounders: 1Employees: 3Hello! Who are you and what business did you start? My name is Sam Evans. I am 23 years old and a recent graduate from Penn State Altoona. I am the founder of You Call We Haul Junk Removal, a junk removal company that removes anything from single items to hoarder home cleanouts. We’re located in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania and have been in business (part-time) since May of 2016.We service any and everyone who may have unneeded items they are looking to get rid of. People often ask what items we consider junk, to us junk is anything you no longer need or want. Our main customers are middle-aged and up adults, typically with a higher income that do not want to or are unable to do the work themselves. We complete over 75 jobs per month, bring in about $20,000 in revenue per month profiting about 65% per job.imageWhat's your backstory and how did you come up with the idea? When I was ending my freshman year of college, I was sitting in my dorm room one day when I got a call from my cousin. Both of us had been flipping items on eBay since we were 14 and always loved to find ways to make some extra money. He told me about a book called Effortless Entrepreneur, written by the founders of College Hunks Hauling Junk which is currently the world’s second-largest junk removal franchise.I ordered the book on eBay for $4 and as soon as it came to my dorm, I immediately started reading. About 20 pages into it, I called my Dad who is a used car salesman. I told him that I was going to start a junk removal company and that I needed his help finding a truck. After nearly a week of calling him telling him every reason I could come up with as to why I needed to start this company, he was finally in. He helped me find a $1,000 truck on Craigslist, a 1991 Ford F-150. imageI bought the truck, printed out some flyers at my school’s library, ordered a few hundred horrible business cards, and was officially in business.I had zero validation for the idea other than that big companies were making a killing doing it and I figured I could as well, after all, who doesn’t have some extra items lying around that they’re dying to get rid of? I minimized the risk as much as I possibly could because the truck that I bought was worth a lot more than the thousand dollars I paid for it. I knew that even if I failed, I would be able to resell the truck and make some money. Starting with a beater truck was my way of putting out a minimum viable product.I had zero expertise and am still learning every single day that I work on my business. The only business experience I had before this was flipping items on eBay and running Facebook pages while I was in middle and high school. When I was 14 I built, grew, and sold a network of Facebook pages with over 5 million daily active users that were based on different teenage jokes and issues at the time. The biggest page had over 3 million likes and was called I HATE WHEN MY PARENTS ASK WHO I’M TEXTING, if you were active on Facebook in 2010 and were in high school at the time, I bet you like the page - go check and let me know. My financial situation at this time was a few thousand dollars that I had in my bank account from these previous businesses. Knowing absolutely nothing ended up being an advantage. I failed a ton in the first few summers of running the business but learned more than I ever did in the classroom. Everything takes time and effort, if you put in the effort you will be successful in the long run in whatever business you decide to start.Take us through the process of designing, prototyping, and manufacturing your first product. There was no design process when I started out. I put out the most minimal viable product I could. The truck was cheap but luckily it did not have any rust so it had a tiny bit of curb appeal if you appreciate old Ford trucks. My flyers and free craigslist posts were really the reason I started to get business. In my area, saying you are a Penn State student or graduate holds a lot of weight and people love to support a fellow Penn Stater. On these flyers and posts, I really honed in on the fact that I was a current PSU student home for summer vacation, looking for a way to make some extra money. The original flyer had a picture of a roommate of mine holding up a random couch that we found sitting in a field by campus.I did not do anything legally for almost two years after starting this business, as I ran it only in the summer while home from school and on breaks when I could actually find some work. My first summer in business in 2016, we did barely $3,000 in sales. Once I took the business legal 2 years later before my senior year of college, I had about $1,200 in total legal and insurance costs to turn into a legitimate business. Upon graduation and taking the business full-time, the costs of insurance ramped up having employees and a much larger truck.Describe the process of launching the business. When we first started we did not have a website, Facebook page, or Instagram account. We spread the word by taping flyers to mailboxes, free Craigslist posts, and sharing screenshots of our flyers in local Facebook groups which were our biggest source of customers. It took us about a week to get our first customers and we were profitable by the end of month one in which we did about $2,000 in sales. Starting with very humble beginnings in a beat-up old Ford truck and no advertising budget taught me that just getting started and taking action is the most important step. When it comes to service businesses that are already a proven model, I always think about the line from Field of Dreams, “If you build it they will come.” Whether it is junk removal, landscaping, garage door repair, or any other home service business, proven models like that work.I also learned that even having a small web presence like a Wix website or a Facebook page can do wonders. Showing people what you do rather than telling them is key to any business becoming successful.Since launch, what has worked to attract and retain customers?Since launch, the only paid advertising we have done is Facebook ads. We are starting to roll out Google ads this month but Facebook has done wonders for our business thus far. If I were to restart, I wouldn’t put as much faith in Facebook ads as I did though because the costs have nearly doubled in the past year.We typically spend less than $600 a month on ads but really need to up the ad spend to reach our current goals. We do a ton of grassroots marketing. Bandit signs, stickers, signs in customer’s yards, door hangers, giving out t-shirts, etc.image imageOur biggest successes from organic marketing have come from midnight bandit sign drops. Going out in the middle of the night allows us to put out 50-60 signs in high traffic areas in under three hours. We map out where to put them based on incomes in various local zip codes. Zip code incomes can be found through USPS Every Door Direct Mail tool. We’ve also been utilizing the Nextdoor app which is tremendous for home services. If you are recommended on that app, customers treat it like the bible. They will hire you blindly and agree to any price you say.We also post on social 2-4x per day, every single day. It is a great way to gain customers organically and get a lot of exposure for the company. Videos work great for home services because as I’ve said before, people want to see who they’re hiring to come into their homes, especially women hiring men. They want to be able to trust a brand and social media is a great way to build that trust for free.https://www.instagram.com/p/B4prmVJHDvC/How are you doing today and what does the future look like?Today, we are growing every single month. We are doing about a 75% profit margin on each job but expect that to go down over time as we hire more employees and acquire more trucks. We are going to start investing a lot more heavily in PPC ads and SEO to gain more exposure in our area. Right now we have about 1,200 facebook likes and a little over 700 Instagram followers. We typically have about 400 people visiting our site each month. Short term we want to reach 100 jobs completed in one month and hit $30,000 in monthly revenue. We believe we can do that with the one dump truck we currently have as long as we up our ad spend.Long term, we want to franchise the business. Junk removal is growing at an extremely fast pace as we live in a society that thrives on convenience and wants to show off to their peers, so people are buying more items than ever before. Studies have shown that less than 2% of people know how to get rid of unneeded items so the industry is really just getting started. We’re confident that through the culture we are building we can get our employees on board to start their own locations. We will give them the choice of where they want to start because we believe the model we’re perfecting will work in any location. Junk removal is an extremely fun business because no two days are the same, you meet very interesting people, and you never ever know what you are going to find.Employees love it because they can keep some of the stuff they find too which makes it all that much more enjoyable. It really is the perfect, simple business model that anyone who is willing to hustle can start and succeed in.Through starting the business, have you learned anything particularly helpful or advantageous?Since I’ve started this business I have really learned to appreciate services. The home services industry in particular is only going to grow in the next 5-10 years. We’re moving away from the times of people wanting to do everything on their own. Our society is starting to value time over money and that means paying people to do the things they do not want to do, like removing the broken freezer from their basement.I was very lucky to start my business during college when I really could not fail. Being able to work on it for three summers and research it not stop during the school year set me up to succeed post-graduation. I didn’t have to jump in blindly and hope it would work, I had already proven the model and created a solid base of customers that were constantly referring me business. One of the best decisions I made was joining a junk removal mastermind group. It taught me more in 3 months than I learned in 4 years of college studying business. I highly recommend that people try to find Facebook groups or subreddits where they can share ideas with other owners in their industries and if there aren’t any, start one. What platform/tools do you use for your business?Platforms I use are: Facebook, Instagram, YouTube for learning, Housecall Pro, Quickbooks Online, Nicejob. What have been the most influential books, podcasts, or other resources?Books:The Power of BrokeEverything by Malcolm Gladwell to challenge how I thinkEverything by Dale Carnegieto challenge how I interact with otherLiving With a SealThe Last LecturePodcasts:How I built this with Guy RazThe Home Service ExpertHumans 2.0Business WarsApps:Alarmy- I used to hit the snooze button multiple times, every single morning. This app allows you to find a barcode in your home or elsewhere and scan it, you then have to scan the barcode to shut off your alarm. There’s no other way to get it to stop other than to scan that barcode. It’s a blessing and a curse, trust me.Advice for other entrepreneurs who want to get started or are just starting out?Start. Just start. If everyone waited for the right time to start, we wouldn’t have any entrepreneurs. Don’t think you need to know everything, no one knows everything. Take a ton of risks, every successful person ever credits their risk-taking ability with them becoming successful. Don’t try to build the next Facebook or Instagram, you do not need to reinvent the wheel. I bought a thousand-dollar pick-up truck and got started. If you over-think things it just makes it harder for you. Put out a minimum viable product and hustle, the results will come if you do not stop. Most people think they’ll make a ton of money and their business will boom from the beginning. Rarely is that ever the case. Give it time, lots of it, and do everything in your power to grow your business. Everything takes time and effort, if you put in the effort you will be successful in the long run in whatever business you decide to start.Where can we go to learn more?WebsiteFacebookInstagramLinkedinIf you have any questions or comments, drop a comment below!Liked this text interview? New Post has been published on https://craftsguideto.com/awesome/the-19-instagram-accounts-with-the-most-followers-what-marketers-can-learn-from-them/
The 19 Instagram Accounts With the Most Followers (& What Marketers Can Learn From Them)
When Instagram was first released, it was thought of only as a fun, visual social media network. Nowadays, it’s also used as a major content promotion tool for brands and influencers.
In fact, according to Sprout Social, 80% of Instagram users follow a brand, and one of the three most-viewed Stories of all time was posted by a business account.
Along with business accounts, influencer marketing is also on the rise. For example, 93% of influencer marketing campaignstook place on Instagram in 2018.
By introducing key product updates like video, tales, and IGTV, Instagram now boasts over 1 billion monthly active users who expend close to an hour scrolling through the app each day they log in.
Instagram’s popularity lets most brands forge an emotional connection with a massive audience. Some brands are so good at visually engaging and resonating with Instagram users that they’ve attracted tens of millions of followers.
To help you learn from the platform’s best of the best, we’ve compiled a list of 19 accounts with the highest number of users — as well as a few key takeaways from each.
Because the accounts with the most adherents belong to influencers and celebrities, we’ve split this rundown into two sublists that are brand and influencer specific.
1. Instagram
Followers: 303 Million
Instagram defines a great example for brands who truly want to engage an audience on their app. By curating and reposting their users’ most captivating content on their own profile, Instagram shows their followers that everyday people can meet their creative and artistic potential on the platform.
This inspires brands and normal Instagram users to expend the time and effort required to craft visually gripping content that will instantaneously hold an audience’s attention.
iframe>
Instagram also does a good job of promoting their narratives and IGTV show about celebrities, wildlife, and other culturally relevant topics. They post original content that highlights upcoming episodes, but the posts read more like a feature story than an advertisement, which sparks more interest in the show.
instagram
2. National Geographic
Followers: 111 Million
National Geographic hires the most talented photographers in the world, so their Instagram posts of sceneries, cityscapes, and the surround life always seem to be awe-inspiring. But their stunning visuals aren’t the only reason why they’ve attracted over 100 million followers.
National Geographic is a historic publication that’s famous for their credible journalism and compelling storytelling. In each post’s caption, they are able to craft fascinating narratives about the photo or video, usually in a way that spreads awareness for a relevant environmental issue.
iframe>
National Geographic also utilizes Instagram Stories, Stories Archive, and IGTV to drive traffic to featured articles and videos on their website. But they also know their followers prefer not to leave the app.
Instead of using gimmicky visuals and clickbait transcript to coax people into visiting their website, they actually summarize the feature article or video in their stories and IGTV shows.
For marketers, National Geographic’s Instagram strategy clarifies that it’s crucial to meet your audience where they are, and not force them to go somewhere simply because you want them to go there.
If people end up clicking through to your website, that’s great. But you should be more than willing to educate your audience where they want to be educated, even if it results in a lower amount of traffic.
3. Nike
Followers: 88.5 Million
In the advertising industry, Nike is known for their motivational ads that inspire athletes to believe in themselves when aiming to reach their full potential.
On Instagram, the iconic brand’s content follows this theme, with posts in the form of short movies, documentaries, and inspirational videos and photos. iframe> 4. Real Madrid
Followers: 72.6 Million
Real Madrid is arguably the most popular soccer team in the world, so most of the team’s Instagram posts update their massive fan base on scores, highlightings, and transactions.
But the style they attract and engage twice as many Instagram followers as teams with similar fan basis isn’t through standard updates. They’ve built their enormous following by dedicating their fans an inside seem of the team’s everyday activities through player takeovers and practise highlights on IGTV.
instagram
Breaking down these hurdles between fan and player builds Real Madrid’s fan base feel like they actually know their favorite players on a personal level, which develops a more intimate and loyal relationship between the two.
5. FC Barcelona
Followers: 71.1 Million
Like Real Madrid, FC Barcelona updates Barcelona fans with sports photography, season-related stats, information about Barcelona players, and other fun tidbits related to the team and season.
They use a mix of content styles with videos, action shots, and posed photos, but they always use many tags, hashtags, and eye-popping emojis in their captions.
iframe>
During games and other events, you can find FC Barcelona launching one or multiple Tale with their own video content as well as curated content sourced from fans.
With curated Stories by fans, they’re able to post more fresh, interesting content. FC Barcelona’s curated Stories also enable fans to contribute to the Instagram channel. While we aren’t able to post stories immediately, you can find some on the account’s page.
6. 9GAG
Followers: 50.2 Million
With plenty of dog, cat, and newborn videos, meme references, and jokes that are almost too relatable, 9GAG has one of the funniest accounts on Instagram.
The account’s Instagram stories and Stories Archives engage their audience well too — they post a ton of polls about topics that everyone has an answer for like, “Is soup a food or a beverage? ” and “Would you travel to the past or future? ”
iframe>
They also use Instagram narratives to drive traffic to their website by asking their followers to swipe up and see if they correctly guessed the name of a Tv prove or movie with merely emojis as clues. On IGTV, they make even more brand engagement by let their followers ask questions during live Q& As with celebrities.
As the only online content platform on this list, 9GAG proves to marketers that interacting with your audience is one of the best ways to engage them, develop a relationship, and attract more followers like them. 7. NASA
Followers: 43.7 Million
Scrolling through NASA’s Instagram feed makes you feel a little like an astronaut floating through the depths of space. instagram
NASA’s Instagram Stories and IGTV channel also educate their followers about interesting space insights, like the views of the sunlight and Earth, the search for life in space, and NASA’s new technology launches
NASA’s popularity on Instagram proves that you can actually create educational content that doesn’t sacrifice any amusement value.
8. UEFA Champions League
Followers: 41.3 Million
In the last year, the Champions League outstripped the NBA’s account in Instagram followers. Like the other soccer brand accounts we’ve noted, the Champions League regularly posts action and squad shoots, as well as updates related to upcoming and past games.
Along with regular updates and action shootings, some of the account’s regular posts include stats like “Top Scorers, ” behind-the-scenes videos, and team roster images.
iframe>
9. Marvel
Followers: 37.5 Million
Marvel posts regularly about its movies, Tv demonstrates, and Marvel.com content. It also mixes things up with the use of photo and video posts. Additionally, the account occasionally employs fun videos to cross-promote with other Marvel-affiliated accounts and influencers.
iframe>
While many other accounts, like HBO, promote their content by posting trailers as Instagram Stories, Marvel uses Stories to cover red carpet premiere events. These stories include photos and clips of the stars, as well as other interesting things that happen at the events. Most recently, Marvel featured the premieres of Dark Phoenix and Avengers: Endgame.
10. Chanel
Followers: 34.9 Million
Throwback Thursday will always be a huge deal on social media — who doesn’t love a heavy dose of nostalgia every week? Recently, though, Chanel decided to take #tbt to the next level. They’ve been eliciting nostalgia in fashionistas all over the world by posting old ads that spotlight previous manner tendencies for their Chanel Holidays campaign every day.
iframe>
The legendary way brand also posts a lot of content about Coco Chanel’s early fashion influences to promote Inside Chanel, a web series that recounts Coco’s life and how she constructed her style empire.
instagram
Harnessing the power of the past is one of the most effective ways to evoke an emotional replies from your audience and forge a connection with them. With that in mind , nostalgia should always be in your marketing arsenal.
1. Cristiano Rinaldo
Followers: 170 Million
So, who has the most followers on Instagram? That would be Cristiano Ronaldo, who’s been called the world’s best soccer player( or futbol player ).
Along with the expected soccer action shots, his Instagram strategy largely involves paid partnerships and cross promotions. Here’s just one example:
iframe>
The account’s content is a mix of sports-related updates, photos capturing his life outside of the arena, and occasional motivational posts about topics like fitness and clearing your mind.
One thing this account sets great effort into is the imagery. All of its images and videos are crisp, clear, colorful, and high-production quality. We’ve found that editing images before uploading to Instagram can really make a difference in how professional a brand or individual account appears. Ronaldo’s account is one great instance of this.
2. Ariana Grande
Followers: 156 Million
Ariana Grande has recently gained an incredibly large following on the platform. Her brand is especially relevant to the younger demographic of Instagram.
Throughout the last four years, it seems that Ariana has not needed to use partnerships or promotions to strengthen her following. Here’s an example of one of the few promotional posts she has had on her account, which dates back to 2015 :P TAGEND

lilac kitty puffed “swagger bag” now available @coach www.coach.com/ kitiswagger
A post shared by Ariana Grande (@ arianagrande) on Sep 28, 2015 at 10:48 am PDT
Currently, it seems her strategy involves a high posting frequency, with around six or more updates per week. She principally uses the platform to update users on her daily life and her music career. These posts often include photos of her puppy, behind-the-scenes videos, and concert highlights.
iframe>
Ariana has also experimented with IGTV. Recently, she used it to announce the drop of her new anthem “Sweetener”by including the song in the post itself, as well as a link to it in the caption.
This type of strategy might induce her adherents and fans feel like they’re being rewarded for their loyalty on the platform. At the same time, the possibility of hearing Ariana’s new music might tempt new audiences to follow her.
iframe>
Many of her posts usually include short captions which may only include one or two emojis. This does not seem to be uncommon for major celebrities on the platform, as they are not able to have a large need to optimize captions.
While Ariana and other listed influencers were not able to have, or need, a caption strategy, those starting out on Instagram or aiming to grow their following should follow optimization best practices. These include crafting interesting captions that may use hashtags, and account tagging.
3. Selena Gomez
Followers: 151 Million
Selena Gomez’s content is a fun mix of paid partnerships, selfies, and quotes. As the former most-followed person on Instagram, she has mastered optimized photo captions, Stories, paid partnerships and cross-promotions with other influencers.
iframe>

iframe> 4. Dwayne( The Rock) Johnson
Followers: 145 Million
On any dedicated day, Dwayne Johnson might use the platform to update fans on his family life, what he’s feeing on his “cheat days”, his fitness products, or the movies he’s working on. He’s also started utilizing IGTV to promote his projects and personal brand. He often films himself devoting fitness tips-off, discussing his new products, or updating fans on other interesting events in his life.
iframe> 5. Kim Kardashian West
Followers: 141 Million
The Keeping Up With The Kardashiansstar has now been posted much more about her family and her KKW Beauty Line. She also is no stranger to cross promotions and partnerships. While most of her posts are artsy or strategic, she is not afraid to post something jaw-dropping or humorous from time to time.
Here’s one funny post where she promotes The Secret Life of Pets.
iframe>
She uses IGTV to promote her projects, like trailers for Keeping Up with the Kardashians. She will also occasionally team up with other influencers for tutorial-styled posts.
In this video, her hair stylist Mario Dedivanovic strolls fans through how they can recreate Kim’s recent Met Gala look :P TAGEND
iframe> 6. Kylie Jenner
Followers: 137 Million
While Kylie Jenner’s individual account follows her day-to-day life, she has also use it as a tool to promote her companies: Kylie Cosmetics and Kylie Skin. Although Kylie regularly tags and engages in cross promotion with her companies’ accounts, her personal Instagram still has over 100 million more adherents than the other two, combined.
Most recently, Kylie has used IGTV to give fans Kylie Cosmetics tutorials. This strategy allows her audiences to see how the products look and learn how to use them before they make a purchase.
This type of content may engage prospective buyers that are both experienced and less experienced in shopping for makeup.
iframe> 7. Beyonce
Followers: 128 Million
Like Ariana Grande, Beyonce focuses more on her artistic side than in cross promotion or paid promotion. She also violates from the usual mold by rarely posting captions and letting her high-quality imagery or video speak for itself.
On her Instagram, you can usually find slideshows of high-quality photos of her, high-fashion shootings where she’s seen in different styles and attires, and occasional promotions of her own personal projects — such as her Netflix concert documentary, Homecoming.
iframe>
8. Leo Messi
Followers: 121 Million
The soccer player regularly posts photos of himself on the field, as well as his daily life. His posts are a mix of photos and well-edited videos. When videos are included, they are often part of paid promotions. Messi has also dabbled in the Stories feature, where he depicts off photos of himself, images from game events, and some images of his family.
While he doesn’t post large captions on his personal posts, he usually optimizes paid promotional posts with tags and hashtags. He also posts thoughtful captions in both English and Spanish. This might open up his following opportunities internationally.
iframe>
9. Taylor Swift
Followers: 118 Million
The musician’s Instagram is filled with photos from concerts as well as a few photos from her everyday life. Unlike Beyonce and Ariana Grande, Taylor Swift espouses captions with emojis and hashtags. She also does an excellent job of tagging other accounts. This account is a good example of how strong captions and account tagging strategies can really optimize your Instagram.
Her posts are often colorful and in slideshow format, which allows users to swipe through multiple images.
iframe>
Taylor has also employed her Instagram as a tool to promote demonstrates and albums. Like Ariana Grande, she recently posted stories to promote and give users a taste of her single, “ME! “
As they viewed the short story, users could swipe up to a connection which listed sites where you could listen to, download, or save the song. This strategy devotes users a savour of content and then a quick payoff when they swipe up.

Is zoosk a legit dating site
com-k2.ru Review 2019. The amount got less, I said no, until he actually asked that I but a iTunes card. Will an individual inform me what to place on my laptop to maintain undesirable stuff off of it? I identified a girl that I am interesting in talking to and actually found her on facebook searched her 1st name then the town she lives in. Sent me 6 emails stating that they could not get the person I accidentally deleted to contact me. To have success with Zoosk you do need to verify your account as this will boost your overall account in front of more eyes and more people will be willing to talk to you. Please, any recommendations would seriously make my day.
com-k2.ru Review Chat Feature Much like their search function, chatting with members on is simple. In this article, I will be doing a full breakdown for you guys of the pros and cons of Zoosk. When I start off a conversation, I can make jokes, stimulate the convo and so forth. First of all, finding 360 different women was a hassle, even across a period of three months. There are many quality singles for older singles.
Best Reviews on Zoosk Besides having perhaps the stupidest name we ever heard what the hell is a Zoosk and why is it going to get me dates? Far too many members only fill out their basic information. We have been seeking on line for a place internet that can do custom cakes simillar to ace of cakes, cake boss, or one thing like that we have the style and every thing just require some talent to execute it in cake type. It's a brave thing for Zoosk to do and although it doesn't guarantee anything, it's admirable that they risk pushing users away in order to ensure that the people on their site aren't time wasters. Anything in the top 1000 receives a huge amount of website traffic. On , you can actually connect with other members albeit limited connectivity for free.
com-k2.ru Review 2019. There is no contact number available, so all I could do is email a 'no-reply' service to submit my request. I need to have to be able to access it on the web since I will be adding to it and editing it often, and I require it to be password protected. One thing to note is that you will need to pay for the whole subscription upfront as opposed to paying on a month-to-month basis. There's no doubt that Zoosk isn't your typical website for finding love. I am not the only one he is also married pre hi g on women. 7 Social Media Tips for Small Business Success
The biggest failures small businesses encounter in social media come from not knowing who their customers are, who they’re competing against, which channels to target, and how to engage their audience. Most are unaware of native analytics available in all major social networks and don’t know how to integrate their online and offline marketing activities or how to automate their social scheduling.
In this blog, I will show you seven important social media marketing tips that every small business should know before embarking on its social media journey.
Tip #1: Know Your Competition
Remember that having competitors who target the same people is great because you can always check what worked for them and what didn’t, and use this knowledge to adjust your own strategy.
My advice is to start with the big fish. These guys are doing something right to get the kind of follower count and engagement they have, so why not learn from them? There are a few ways of doing this.
Use Facebook’s Pages to identify your best-performing competitors and compare their activity, engagement, and audience growth to your own. You can see exactly what content they’re posting, how often, and at what time of day they’re posting. Remember to not only look at follower count but total engagement: it will tell you how their followers are interacting with the content. Brands with high engagement rates are typically the ones to watch.
Not entirely sure who your competitors are? That’s ok. There are tools out there that can help you find the competitors you might not have been aware of. For example, with SEMrush’s Competitive Positioning Map all you need to do is to enter your URL, and the tool will automatically compile data showing you your top competitors, how much traffic they’re getting and the keywords they’re ranking for:
Pay special attention to the bubbles located above you and to your right. They represent the competitors whose total traffic exceeds yours and who are ranking for more keywords than you are.
This report will give you a good idea of who has a strong online presence, and who is investing heavily in marketing. Brands investing in marketing and getting plenty of traffic typically have strong social presences, so they’ll be good ones to check out.
If you need more advanced social media competitive analytics, tools like Rival IQ, SproutSocial, Klear, or SEMrush can provide them. They will help you track your competitors’ social pages to see how their posts perform, how much engagement they receive, which hashtags they use, and what special offers and competitions they’re running on social.
Note: Never skip the competitive analysis part if you’re just starting out. Your competition has tried-and-tested recipes of what works and what doesn’t. Use them to your advantage.
Tip #2: Pick the Right Channel to Target
There are a lot of social media channels out there, but that doesn’t necessarily mean you have to be on all of them.
If you are starting your social media journey from scratch, it’s advisable that you pull together a survey and ask your customers which social media channels they prefer or use the most.
If you’re already active on social media channels, check their efficiency. Compare the size of your audience across different channels, your engagement, and engagement rate metrics. For example, the overview report in Social Media Tracker shown below will give you an idea of which channels are worth putting effort into:
Another way to pick the right target channel is to analyze your competitors’ activity. Check which channels they put their energies into, and start targeting them too: your chances of getting noticed by the relevant audience will double.
Bonus Tip: Be ruthless in getting rid of some of your accounts and prioritize your social media marketing capabilities. Not ready to make videos? Skip YouTube. Don’t have time for blog writing? Leave it for now and concentrate on one or two channels.
Tip #3: Simplify Content Creation
Creating social media content does take time, but not as much when you have the right tools at hand.
For example, Inoreader will help you find relevant content and keep up with your favorite information sources. The tool allows you to save web pages for viewing later, and subscribe to social feeds (even with the free version you can subscribe to as many sources as you like).
Photos and videos you take on your phone can be easily processed with tools like Canvas and VSCO right from your mobile device. Tools like Buffer, Sprout Social, or SEMrush Poster will help you with scheduling and posting your content across different social networks.
Social media managers are always at risk of making small errors, and social media can be merciless if you make a mistake. Use tools like Grammarly to keep your brand’s reputation intact.
To find hashtags, use RiteTag—it is an absolute must-have for any social media manager. The tool gives you tag suggestions for images or text on any site or social network. All it takes is a right click on the image or text.
Key Takeaway: have you ever heard about the 80/20 rule or Pareto principle? Apply this rule to the time you invest in social media. Plan 80% of content in advance, and spend the other 20% on live conversations with an audience.
Tip #4: Automate Your Posting
If you don’t make an effort to automate your posting routine, you will never have the time to focus on the essential things that can truly help your business.
If you manage several social networks at once, consider tools like Hootsuite and Social Media Poster. Instead of switching between multiple tabs to post your content in each individual network, you will be able to schedule content for all your social profiles from one tab and create a personalized posting schedule. You’ll have multiple scheduling options as well, whether you want your post to go live immediately, schedule it for later or create a draft and revisit it later:
Tip #5: Interact with Your Audience on Social
There are two sides to this.
The first one is about monitoring your online mentions across the web and responding to them. The other is about not forgetting to respond to your followers’ messages on social. Both are crucial if you want your business to succeed. So how do you manage both?
People will talk about your brand across the web. And they will either be happy with your brand and want to say thank you, or they’ll be disappointed. You have to respond to both types of mentions, be it a positive review or a total diss.
Social media monitoring tools such as Mention.com, SEMrush Brand Monitoring, or Brand24.com allow you to track and categorize your online mentions, find influencers, and identify new promotional opportunities.
If you have more than one social account, I’d definitely recommend trying Buffer Reply. It helps you keep all your social conversations in one team inbox and respond to them right from the tool’s interface. Another great thing about Buffer Reply is that it provides you with sufficient data about the person you’re talking to, allowing you and your team to create personalized responses.
Keep in Mind: Your customers may contact you directly, or they may leave a review online. Either way, they want and need to be heard. Make communication with your audience, whether online or offline, your key priority.
Tip #6: Engage your Audience Constantly
Test different content formats. Try videos, live streaming, and quizzes. Take pictures of your product, customers with your product, competitors with your product, and cats with your product. Try jokes, memes, and funny statements—experiment with the potential of humor. Don’t forget to set an engagement metric for all the content you post. Otherwise, how will you know what works and what doesn’t?
You can easily entertain your audience with thematic and occasion-based campaigns. These could be campaigns built around holidays and events such as an upcoming game release or a TV series premiere. They usually require minimum investment and effort on your part. Because the interest in the event is already there, all you need to do is use it to attract people’s attention to your product.
Remember: Test, experiment with, and measure different types of content. See how your audience reacts and then test it all over again. Social media marketing is all about experimenting and innovating.
Tip #7: Integrate the Online and the Offline
Surely you must have thought about running special offers and competitions for your customers! Make an effort to promote your special offers and sales through social media channels. All it takes to integrate online and offline marketing is the right hashtag. Tools like Hashtagify and Ritetag will not only help you brainstorm new hashtags to use but also show you the popularity and potential reach and impact of specific terms and phrases:
Remember to create a branded hashtag for your product and an additional hashtag for your marketing activities.
The same goes for offline events. Organizing a charity ball or an email marketing panel? Be sure to create a location hashtag to help you connect with local audiences. Examples: #wintergardenfarmersmarket, #dallasfood, #phillysports. Keep in mind that hashtags are everchanging.
Remember: Promoting offline events online is an essential step to a successful marketing strategy. Integrate your online and offline marketing with the right hashtags.
