Watching romantic movies and series really makes us feel na ang sarap-sarap magmahal. Parang ang sarap-sarap isugal lahat! But when I’m always close to that again, naaalala ko how complicated relationships are and how I’m not built for that lol. Better to be alone than to hurt someone again, especially kung ako lang rin yung masasaktan sa huli.

As for powers— yep, I was intending to give everyone some unique abilities, if I remember right. I'll list some ideas/things I recall from the fic here. They'll be based on the girls' abilities/skills in the game (as well as taking into account what kinds of powers the boys use in canon), since that makes the most sense to me. XD

Shinoa

Hypnotism. It's mainly used for forcing her prey into unconsciousness, but other applications include paralyzing their bodies and slowing down their thoughts.

Since she's a poison user in the game, I think it'd be fitting if she has some kind of (likely highly painful) venom in her bite. It's not used all the time, but as a little extra bonus if she wants to be especially mean to her victims.

Lily

I'm... not too sure about her. Her main ability in the game is electricity, so probably something of that sort. Small-scale shocks seem appropriate, though— good for training.

I recall a scene where Laito could mess with electricity/phone lines too, so yep, same for Lily. She can manipulate electronics to some degree; usually things like shutting down a victim's means of calling for help, or suddenly taking away light.

Yurine

Aphrodisiac saliva or something, definitely. The perfect way to make her prey so dizzy with lust that they can't even think of resisting her! And she likes the attention.

Fire abilities (like Kanato's) fit her in-game skills. She probably doesn't use them very often, though, not liking the mess they can cause. Beyond that, her strength is downright impressive, even by vampire standards.

Mizuki

I don't think she'd have any particularly unique abilities. She's the youngest of the group, for one... and definitely more of the type to rely on her superior physical capabilities.

That means Mizuki is the brute-force type. She's stronger and faster than humans, and that's more than enough to get what she wants from them. ...however, I could also see her having some kind of lie-detection ability.

Kuroe

As you said, Kuroe can puppet people and objects. She mostly uses it with her stuffed donkey, Baron, but the power ends up turned on her prey when she's particularly upset.

Ice magic is her specialty— she can lower temperatures and freeze things over, her body is downright frigid, and the general area around her always seems colder than it should be. The chill gets out of control when she's distressed, though.

Tsukasa

Definitely the resident potion menace. While she doesn't seem the type at all, Tsukasa is the one who has all kinds of nasty concoctions at her disposal. Especially aphrodisiacs.

She's also quite knowledgeable in medical matters, in general... which mostly means piecing her prey back together after she's gone a little too far. This goes as far as healing magic— all the better to keep her toys alive!

Sui

Magic of all kinds. She's definitely the most proficient in the subject of the group of them, which means her abilities would be pretty varied and adaptable.

Her body is the weakest of them, so she's also relying on that magic quite a bit. I think she'd also have a fondness for summons and familiars, as they can compensate for her physical weaknesses more easily than exerting herself would be.

I swear I'm gonna try to make sense here but nothing I say will actually make justice to this beautiful story, so bear with me.

I couldn't start talking about this fic without praising the amout of energy and research the author clearly put into this, it's just stunning! It's an alternate universe that centers around 2016 Rio Olympics and the whole journey until we actually get there with Rin and Haru it's absolutely amazing. I'm not going to get into details so I don't ruin the story for anyone but as a brazilian person, the moment in which they get to Brazil and not only make effort to communicate in portuguese but also explore the tourist locations, visit a Rio favela and connect with local people... it's breathtaking, I tell you.

And for the story itself and Rin and Haru's relationship, it's just beautiful. The author couldn't have captured their personalities (and development) better, in my humble opinion. We see them growing together and changing and being afraid and being absolutely in love without actually losing themselves or turning into completely different people. No, they're still Rin and Haru. And the way she connects all of it with the places they get to know together, I have no words, but this snippet here pulled heartstrings I didn't even know I had and I think it sums up what I'm trying to say:

More and more, Rin found his eyes drifting to Haru during the performance, watching the spark in blue eyes and the rapt attention.  It filled him with pleasure that Haru was enjoying this.  I know you could’ve been happy, never leaving Iwatobi.  He knew the cost; how hard it was at times for Haru to be here with him, away from friends, family, and everything familiar.  Rin cherished the moment—one in a series of many now, glimpses of the wider world that Haru actually liked. “Rin.”  Haru pulled him close without taking his eyes off the dancers.  “Do you think they have samba lessons in Japan?”

Again, trying not to talk too much and give away spoilers, so I'm just gonna say that their relationship dynamics was mesmerizing. The way Haru is so silently confident and certain of what they have but still have moments that we just stop and think "ok he's a person too, he has his vulnerabilities just like anyone else" and how Rin learns to accept difficulties and change the way he sees his life and future plans inbetween his insecurities, I fell in love all over again with their relationship because of how this is so in character.

Also, if you want to read it but you're not really into M rated fics, there's a T rated version on ff net. But I have to say that, particularly, I think the mature scenes are also fundamental for their story. They're not really descriptive and the focus is always on Rin and Haru's trust and feelings for each other, so they're mostly very sensual and intimate and emotional, you should definitely give it a try if you're not completely uncomfortable with sex scenes, but I'm sure the T version is just as beautiful.

This is already too long and it doesn't express half of what I felt, but I'll leave anyone who wants to read it to feel for yourselves now, it was worth every minute.

Bonus: the artwork at the end is just as incredible as the story, I spent whole twenty minutes freaking out over them.

Gambling. Ayon sa Britannica, ito ang tawag sa pagtataya ng isang bagay na may halaga, kung saan kahit may kamalayan ang tumataya sa panganib na dala nito, may pag-asa pa rin silang makinabang dito. Nauudyok ang tao na harapin ang mga panganib na ito dahil sa dopamine. Nagbibigay ng magandang pakiramdam, reward pathways, ang kemikal na ito sa ating utak na nararanasan natin kapag kumakain ng paborito nating pagkain. Ito ang dahilan kaya’t marami sa atin ang nasasabit sa sugal. Nagmumula sa dalawang magkaibang reward pathways sa ating utak ang adiksyon– ang liking at wanting.

Nararamdaman natin ang liking bilang biglaang saya mula sa pagkuha ng ating gusto. Nagtutulak naman ang wanting sa isang tao na gawin ang isang bagay hanggang makuha nila ang kanilang gusto.

Sa manga na Usogui (嘘喰い, lit. 'The Lie Eater') ni Toshio Sako, tinatalakay dito ang mga malubha at masahol na kahihinatnan ng mga taong nalulong sa sugal— isang pagsasalamin sa nakakubling sikreto ng ating lipunan na patuloy na sumisira sa buhay at pamilya ng isang mamamayang sangkot na dito. Tatalakayin ng blog na ito ang mga isyu na makikita sa Usogui gayundin ang kaugnayan nito sa lipunan.

Pagsusugal at Pagsasamantala Ipinakita sa Air Poker Arc (kabanata 429-472) kung paano handang isugal ng mga karakter ang lahat, kabilang na ang kanilang buhay, para sa isang pagkakataon na makuha ang kanilang ninanais. Sa bahaging ito ng kuwento, nagpustahan sina Baku Madarame, ang bida, at Vincent Lalo gamit ang kanilang buhay bilang pamusta– kung saan mamamatay ang taluhan. Sa halip na tulungan ang mga taong gustong bumangon mula sa kanilang sitwasyon, inilalagay pa sila sa mas malalim na bitag ng pagkakautang at pagkatalo. Sa totoong buhay, makikita rin ito sa mga casino at gambling na plataporma na nag-aalok ng kaakit-akit na promosyon ngunit pinapanatili ang mga tao sa cycle ng pagkatalo at pagkagumon.

Socioeconomic Inequality, Kapangyarihan at Kasamaan Sa Bull’s Womb Arc (kabanata 147-174) at Battleship Arc (kabanata 280-309), ipinakita kung paano ginagamit ng mga makapangyarihan ang kanilang impluwensya upang manipulahin ang laro. Halimbawa, sumugal si Kaji laban kay Yukiide, isang opisyal sa korap na pulisya. Kung mananalo si Kaji, makakuha siya ng pera ngunit kailangan niyang “isakripisyo” ang isang araw ng kanyang alaala kung matalo naman siya. Dahil hindi alam ni Kaji ang tunay na panganib ng pustahan, tinanggap niya ito. Natalo siya nang tatlong sunod-sunod na beses dahil nandaya ang kalaban. Sa huli, wala siyang nakuha na pera; nawala rin ang kanyang alibi sa iba niyang kapusta para sa mga araw na isinakripisyo niya, na naging dahilan para madiin siya sa mga krimen na nangyari noong tatlong araw na nakalimutan niya.

Makikita rito ang temang korapsyon sa Usogui, kung saan madaling mandaya ng mga makapangyarihan sa mga sitwasyon para sa kanilang kapakinabangan. So we get a chance to talk for a day. Pero i said kaninang hapon na its my last chat na. I dont know. I wanna talk to him more pero feeling ko nag sasayang lang ako ng oras. There is so much in him that i do not like. Okay he's gwapo and all that pero thats it. Parang hanggang dun lang yung pwede ko i admire sa kanya. Hindi worth it isugal yung kung anong meron ako ngaun. Saka i am still true to my words na kung hindi lang din si "almost" hindi na lang.
