Oh my GOD I started Screaming!! Ok, So I'll try to be as communicative as I can be *tries not to yell in the excitement*
Sharpe a period drama series about a soldier- Richard Sharpe (Sean Bean)- who's raised from the ranks after saving general Wellington and joins the 95th Rifles Brigade(The Green Jackets), fighting in the Napoleonic Wars against the French. It's a TV series based on novels by Bernard Cornwell, 14 episodes from the 90s and 2 episodes from 2006, most of them are on YT with the last two on Dailymotion.
Let me Introduce you to the characters:
1. Richard Sharpe- a soldier raised from the ranks who earns his promotion by saving Wellington's life and joins the 95th Rifles.
has like 900 lives,
takes the French Eagle and almost dies in the process (he would do it again)
gets injured in every episode/book
once swung a chicken over the nun's head
bends the rules to do the right thing
Sharp-shooter (excuse the pun)
Says "BASTARD!" like a lot
2. Patrick Harper- an Irishman in the English army, member of the 95th Rifles, witty, loyal, tried to kill Sharpe the first time they met (enemies to BFFs).
makes puns
Horses, horses, horses
is a loyal friend and a great soldier
Best friends with Sharpe
3. Comandante Teresa Moreno- they call her the 'Needle' (don't ask why), the French killed her family and raped her sister, she swore to fight them till her last breath, she's the essence of the #Girlboss.
Sharpe's love
Girlboss
Would fight 100 men and WIN
"I'm not trapped here with you, you're trapped here with ME" energy
4. Arthur Wellesley (Duke of Wellington- hence the nickname)- saved from the French by Sharpe, he rewards the private with a promotion. Based on the historic figure, he's the one who beat Napoleon at Waterloo.
Nickname "Wellington" or "Nosey"
Looks like a tired dad who certainly HAD IT but has to fight the war most of the time
Great strategist
Rarely smiles
Owes Sharpe his life
Beat Napoleon's ass at Waterloo
5. Michael Hogan- addicted to snuff Irishman who serves as an exploring officer for Wellington and works closely with Comandante Teresa in the field of espionage.
although he only appeared in two episodes, he's a fan favourite for a reason
witty, funny, smart
fashion icon
has a straw hat
6. The Rest of the 95th Rifles aka The Chosen Men- Rifleman Harris, an educated man in the army, Daniel Hagman- plays the violin and sings, Ben Perkins- youngest member, Francis Cooper- a mysterious lad, Isaiah Tongue- once made a speech at the funeral, he said "Yea."
Hope I shed some light on this wonderful series- enjoy watching! (And come back if you'd like!)

devotion by Bernard Trippett, Jr
Ready to soar.
“Now the Lord had said to Abram: Get out of your country, from your family and from your father’s house, to a land that I will show you” Genesis 2:1, NKJV.
Are you ready to soar? When was the last time you just said I’ve got nothing to lose? When was the last time you let it all go for Jesus? Every one that puts it all on line the for God will win.
Sometimes, you will get to those points in your Christian walk where that’s what the Lord will tell you to do. As a matter of truth, He will sometimes close all options, all doors, and the only thing you will be able to do IS what He’s dealing with you about, and then you will have to trust Him completely.
He helps us and causes us to be unsettled, being and doing anything else except what He said. He even is so good that He deals with sin, our past mistakes, and failures that keep us from obeying Him. Yet, God patches us up, heals our wounds, encourages us, and then starts pulling on our hearts and saying you’re ready now.
You may not have been ready then, but you’re ready now. You’ve prayed for His will to be done in your life, and now His Spirit is tugging on your heart about something you’re going to have to rely on God to do. He’s tugging on your heart to lose everything for Christ. Whatever He is telling you to do, it’s going to work, it’s going to prosper, you’re going to save lives, and you’re going to win, you’re going to soar in this hour because the Lord is with you!
Prayer: Father, I yield to you and your will for me right now. I’m ready now. I ask for courage, and I let go of any doubts. Every other door has closed anyway, and I won’t be fulfilled anywhere else except your will for my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
Study: Genesis 12:1-3, Isaiah 40:31

Eric Hutton seems perplexed by Hantz Bernard's list-from-Strong's:
Even though we triple checked our facts with BJU insiders closest to the crisis, Dr. Bernard appears to believe that our updated open letter was full of lies. He replied to the concerns of alumni and friends with a list of bible verses about lying. See the text of his email: Psalm 15:1-3 - "Lord, who may abide in Your tabernacle? Who may dwell in Your holy hill? 2 He who walks uprightly, And works righteousness, And speaks the truth in his heart; 3 He who does not backbite with his tongue, Nor does evil to his neighbor, Nor does he take up a reproach against his friend;" Exodus 20:16 - "You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor." John 8:44 - "You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it." Ephesians 4:25 - "Therefore, putting away lying, "Let each one of you speak truth with his neighbor," for we are members of one another." Proverbs 6:16-19 - "These six things the Lord hates, Yes, seven are an abomination to Him: 17 A proud look, A lying tongue, Hands that shed innocent blood, 18 A heart that devises wicked plans, Feet that are swift in running to evil, 19 A false witness who speaks lies, And one who sows discord among brethren." Matthew 15:19 - "For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies." Isaiah 59:7 - "Their feet run to evil, And they make haste to shed innocent blood; Their thoughts are thoughts of iniquity; Wasting and destruction are in their paths." James 3:8-9 - "But no man can tame the tongue. It is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. 9 With it we bless our God and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the similitude of God." Colossians 2:8 - "Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ." (Verbatim from Dr. Bernard's email reply to a positive grad.)

Drive the book facts!
following his head-on collision with the mustang, a guy in a pickup truck offers him a ride because 'I’m guessing is you may have good reason not to be around once the Man arrives'
pickup truck guy takes Driver out for lunch and then brings him home as well. if I had a nickel for every time Driver missed that someone wants to fuck him I'd have like a dollar by now
driver drinks with the guy at his trailer until the guy passes out. driver steals his truck and leaves him a 'thank you' note and a stack of $50 bills
one of the memories driver has of his mother is of being nine or ten and watching her put together a mail-order accent table, with her first being happy about it then being upset that it didn't look like it did in the catalogue
also mentioned in this memory is 'Always agree. That was the first rule.' and 'Watch closely: that's the second rule.'
he has his hair 'buzzed almost to the scalp' at a barbershop and then picks up oversized clothes and 'wraparound mirror shades' next door before going to Nino's
at Nino's, he kills a young security guard who's out for a smoke with wire around his neck and leaves a Nino's coupon with 'we deliver' circled in his pocket
that being said the bag wasn't mentioned but there's a line about you got your money back so I think he might have dropped off the bag with the money with the security guard?
Bernie Rose (Bernard Wolfe Rosenwald) and Nino (Isaiah Paolozzi) have known each other since they were six; 'Izzy' is an old childhood nickname Nino had but Bernie's never used it for him until now, telling him that he's going to be out from business with Nino after they take care of Driver
like the movie, stealing the money was also something Nino did on the side without telling bernie
there's also a line about, after they finish a bottle of wine together, 'Old days, they’d jam a candle into the neck, put it on one of the tables. Goddamn romantic.' which I'm choosing to believe means they're divorced™
driver follows Bernie to a Chinese place and breaks into his car while he's eating to get his address from his car registration. he leaves another Nino's coupon, this time with a smiley face drawn on it, taped to the steering wheel

Share4Christ - God Will Part The Waters For You
"And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and when the morning appeared, the sea returned to its full depth, while the Egyptians were fleeing into it. So the LORD overthrew the Egyptians in the midst of the sea." Exodus 14:27, NKJV.
"Thus says the Lord, who makes a way in the sea and a path through the mighty waters" Isaiah
43:16, NKJV.
Sometimes, we all need God to move in a mighty way. When you don't see a way, He will part the waters for you. The children of Israel arrived at a point where if God didn't move, they would be captured and probably killed by pharaoh and his army. If God didn't move and do it, it wouldn't get done.
But God.
He stepped in and parted the waters for them. Stay strong because He is stepping in just when you need Him, and parting the waters for you. He is making a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert. No matter how turbulent and raging this moment in your life may be, your God is coming and will demonstrate His goodness toward you.
That's your God. His abundant goodness will not be denied. It will not be stopped. His goodness and mercy are following you for the purpose of parting all the waters you need so that you can get to your Promised Land and you can receive what the Father desires for your life.

Knicks-Sixers: 5 takeaways from dramatic Game 4
Jalen Brunson scores a franchise-record 47 points, in part due to a very pointed game plan. • Download the NBA App The New York Knicks are 22-3 when they’ve had both Jalen Brunson and OG Anunoby in the lineup. They were two of the five players who played more than 43 minutes of Game 4 of the Knicks’ first-round series against the Philadelphia 76ers on Sunday afternoon, and they had their fingerprints all over New York’s 97-92 victory. Brunson scored 47 points, a new Knicks playoff record, topping two 46-point performances from Bernard King in 1984. He also dished out 10 assists with only one turnover. Anunoby added 16 points, 14 rebounds and three blocks while also playing some critical defense on Joel Embiid. Here are some numbers, notes and film as the Knicks took a 3-1 series lead… 1. Knicks and Brunson target Embiid According to Second Spectrum tracking, the Knicks set 52 ball screens for Brunson, with 35 of those 52 ball screens being set by the guy Embiid was guarding. So while the team’s two MVPs were not guarding each other, this game was very much Brunson vs. Embiid on the Knicks’ end of the floor. It started with Embiid in drop coverage, protecting the rim and (if Brunson’s defender got caught in the screen) allowing Brunson to step into comfortable jump shots.
Sometimes Embiid was higher and Brunson was able to put him on his heels…
That “at the level” coverage can sometimes provide a runway for the roll man, but Embiid was twice able to recover and contest or block a layup attempt by the Knicks’ bigs. In the end, Brunson got the better of Embiid. He did score 47 points, after all. The most spectacular of those 47 was a crazy, fading runner across his body at the shot clock buzzer after Embiid was forced to switch…
A few minutes later, Embiid was well beyond the 3-point line and got caught on the wrong side of the screen as Brunson drove for a layup to put the Knicks up three with a little more than five minutes left. Philly obviously needs to do a better job of getting the ball out of Brunson’s hands, and having Embiid guard pick-and-rolls more aggressively is not the solution. It will be up to the other Sixers to navigate those screens better and be ready to help off Brunson’s teammates. 2. Knicks continue to dominate the glass Those New York teammates were just 5-for-19 from 3-point range on Sunday, but are still 40-for-98 (41%) from beyond the arc on the series. Sending help to the ball also leaves a defense vulnerable on the glass, and the Knicks once again punished the Sixers with offensive rebounds… - In Game 2, the Knicks had just 12 and 12, but it was Isaiah Hartenstein’s offensive rebound that led to Donte DiVincenzo’s game-winning 3-pointer. - In Game 4, the Knicks turned 15 offensive rebounds (and other second-chance opportunities thanks to loose-ball fouls or rebounds that went out of bounds) into 21 second-chance points. More than half (11) of those second-chance points came in the fourth quarter. And those 11 second-chance points accounted for more than half of the Knicks’ 20 points in the period. It was a one-point game after the third quarter and it was an ugly fourth, with the two teams combining to shoot 12-for-45 (27%). When the field goal percentage is a little more than half the league average, rebounding is almost twice as important. The winner on Sunday was the better rebounding team. In the first round against the Cleveland Cavaliers last year, the Knicks retained 39.4% of available offensive boards, the highest rate for any team in any series in the last 10 years. Their offensive rebounding percentage in this series (38.9%) is only a tick lower than that. 3. Defending Embiid is not a one-man job The Knicks were without Mitchell Robinson, who re-injured his ankle in Game 3. And after committing zero fouls in the first half, Hartenstein picked up five in the third quarter. So Precious Achiuwa played the final 13:25. But he didn’t guard Embiid over that stretch. That job belonged to the 6-foot-8 Anunoby, though he had plenty of help. “Embiid is a load,” Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau said afterward. “You’re not guarding him individually. You gotta guard him with your team.” The Sixers’ execution against double-teams was a mixed bag. There were possessions in the third quarter where Tyrese Maxey shot too quickly or Kelly Oubre Jr. stopped the ball instead of swinging it to a wide-open teammate. They did get a couple good shots out of the double midway through the fourth. Down three, Kyle Lowry swung the ball to Maxey, who attacked the seam in the Knicks’ defense and found Oubre under the basket for a dunk…
On the next possession, Maxey missed a wide-open 3 when the Knicks’ first rotation was late (and coming from too far away). 4. Knicks force Sixers to play late in the clock That Oubre dunk with 5:04 left was the Sixers’ last field goal of the game. The Knicks allowed that open Maxey 3 on the next possession, but their defense was much better after that. It started with keeping the Sixers from getting into their offense. With the Knicks still up three and a little more than three minutes left, Philly tried to get Brunson switched onto Maxey. But Brunson and Miles McBride (with a little help from Achiuwa) didn’t let it happen…
When the Sixers finally got the switch, there were just five seconds left on the shot clock. Brunson was able to contain Maxey’s initial drive, McBride came back with a double-team, Anunoby rotated and scared Lowry off a 3-pointer, and Achiuwa rotated to block Embiid’s 3 as the shot clock expired…
On the next possession, there were eight seconds left on the clock before the Sixers got what they wanted (an Embiid post catch), because Anunoby initially kept the big man from using an Oubre screen. The Knicks doubled Embiid, Achiuwa rotated up to Maxey, kept him out of the paint (as the other Knicks stayed home on shooters), and forced him into a tough, step-back jumper that came up way short. 5. Knicks double, scramble and contest The Sixers were still down just four when Lowry rebounded an Oubre miss. He immediately got the ball to Embiid on the left side of the floor with 11 seconds left on the shot clock. Once again, the Knicks brought a double-team. And once again, their rotations were terrific, with Josh Hart making a great contest on Tobias Harris’ corner 3-point attempt…
At that point in the game, Anunoby had played more than 45 minutes, Hart had played more than 44 and Brunson had played more than 42. But the Knicks’ defensive energy was still as good as it gets. After scoring 125 points on just 91 possessions (137 per 100) in Game 3, the Sixers had just 92 on 91 in Game 4, including just 16 on 21 (76 per 100) in the fourth quarter. That 22-3 record that the Knicks have with both Brunson and Anunoby includes a 13-0 mark at Madison Square Garden, where they can end this series in Game 5 on Tuesday (7 p.m. ET, TNT). * * * John Schuhmann is a senior stats analyst for NBA.com. Good Friday
March 29, 2024
Pastor Tom Steers
Christ the Saviour Lutheran Church, Toronto
“Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world.”
John 1:29
The Good Friday service is marked by reflection on the cross of Jesus Christ and His sacrificial death that earned us salvation.
The altar has been stripped to symbolize the stripping of Christ before His crucifixion. Our worship focuses on the adoration of our crucified Saviour who now reigns together with God the Father and the Holy Spirit.
The opening portion of the liturgy includes no praise.
It proceeds directly to the Prayer of the Day.
Although somber, our service does not end on a note of despair. The closing litany, prayer, and hymn emphasize the triumph and redemption we have through the cross.
Jesus has made complete payment for our sins through His death for us, and through faith in Him alone we are reconciled with our loving God and offered eternal life.
At the end of the service, we depart in silence without the benediction. However, Christ's death is not God's final word. We keep vigil as we prepare to celebrate Christ's resurrection on Sunday morning.
Silence is kept as the people gather. As the Pastor enters all stand for prayer.
Pastor:“For God so loved the world that he gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.”(John 3:16)
Congregation: Amen.
PRAYER OF THE DAY
C: Almighty God, have mercy upon us, your children, for whom our Lord Jesus Christ was willing to be betrayed, and given over to the hands of sinners to suffer death on the cross. He took the penalty for our sins, so that through faith in Him we are forgiven and offered eternal life. We pray for Your grace and mercy in the name of our crucified and risen Saviour, Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

THE SERMON –
Today we remember a death.
The liturgical colour is black.
The mood is somber, and yet we call this Friday – ‘Good.’
That may leave us with the question, ‘why is it called Good?’
What’s the meaning of this day, and even more to the point, what is the meaning of the crucifixion?
It's Biblical that all human beings who have ever lived are guilty when tested against the Commandments of God’s Law.
When seen by our Holy, perfect Lord, we’re all guilty.
And we’ve been so since the first man and woman, Adam and Eve, disobeyed God and fell into sin.
It’s an inherited condition. And left untreated, it’s fatal – 100 per cent of the time.
Spiritually, eternally fatal.
Because God in His perfection, although all-loving, can’t overlook sin.
God can’t lie and say sin is OK; lying is a human trait.
But the Bible also tells us, repeatedly, that God loves us, and in fact, the Apostle John who authored today’s Gospel text, wrote in 1st John, that “Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.”
It’s been said that the entire story of the Bible can be traced in the shape of the cross.
Because it is the story of the reconciliation of God, with man, through + Jesus Christ.
The cross becomes a bridge that closes that huge divide, the gulf, between a loving, perfect Father, and His fallen children.
And it is mind boggling for us that it was God, Himself, who provided the solution, who brings about the reconciliation.
It was God who reached out to us by coming down to earth and taking on human flesh in the person of Jesus Christ.
In the first Passover, God freed the people of Israel from physical bondage – slavery in Egypt. God told the people to make a sacrifice, to take a lamb without blemish, slaughter it, and put the blood over their doorways so the spirit of death would pass over them.
Many years later, at the time of Passover, Jesus entered the city of Jerusalem triumphantly on Palm Sunday.
The temple priests would have taken young lambs, without blemish, placed their hands on them, and while praying transferred the sins of people to the animal.
Then it would be sacrificed.
The death of the lamb was a symbolic payment for sin.
What the temple priests didn’t realize, was that God’s ultimate sacrifice had just entered the Holy City.
This could never be accomplished by the death of a lamb or goat, but only by a human being, yet one who was without sin.
However, as the Apostle Paul wrote, “all have sinned.”
So, God sent His only Son, to become the sacrifice to end all sacrifices, because He was the one person who kept God’s law perfectly – God’s lamb without blemish – Jesus Christ.
Through the words of the Apostle John today, we find ourselves at the place where that sacrifice for sin happened.
We have an account by the only Apostle we know who was an eyewitness to the crucifixion.
The Roman authors Seneca and Cicero wrote that those who were crucified cursed and screamed loudly, as long as they could.
But with Jesus we hear none of this.
Christ didn’t curse His tormentors, the Roman soldiers, the religious authorities, or those who mocked Him.
Although truly innocent, in agony, and about to die, He says, "Father forgive them for they know not what they do.”
The suffering Jesus endured that first Good Friday began even before the cross.
There were dozens of deep lashes across Jesus’ back from a flogging.
There was a crown of thorns piercing deep into the skin of his head.
Then spikes were driven through His hands and feet.
And he hung this way on the cross for hours.
But because Jesus experienced this incredible pain, He understands our pain both physical and emotional.
Neither in times of suffering or sadness, does Christ desert us.
We can take comfort that we have a Saviour who understands sorrow, that can empathize because of what He endured – for us.
There are some who will blame the Romans, Pontius Pilate, the Jewish authorities, even Judas himself for Christ’s crucifixion.
But as Martin Luther explained in a sermon some 500 years ago, “never forget that it was your sins that placed the nails there.”
It was our sins that Jesus was atoning for – not His own.
As the prophet Isaiah wrote: “He was pierced for our transgressions, He was wounded for our iniquities, and by His wounds we are healed. (Isaiah 53: 6)
And yet if Jesus hadn’t suffered, if the crucifixion had not taken place, every one of us would have been destined to hell forever, eternally separated from God.
The door between us and Heaven would have been shut.
But God didn’t want that, so He created this glorious exchange – our sins, for Christ’s righteousness.
A once, and for all, exchange.
Jesus had no sooner said "I thirst," and sipped the vinegar offered to Him on the cross, when He said, "It is finished.”
This wasn’t a cry of defeat. It was a shout of triumph.
The battle was over, the victory won – forever.
Sin, death and the devil were defeated because the final payment for sin had been made.
According to some modern thinkers, man is a very fine and noble creature, striving to become better.
He’s to be commended and admired.
Sin is said to be only a sociological condition.
But in the Bible, that’s not the way God sees it.
There, man is a fallen being, with a carnal nature that cannot be reconciled to God by our own efforts.
In Holy Scripture, man behaves in the same way we see in our daily news: war, murder, theft, greed, idolatry.
And these are all a result of the original fall into sin.
It’s behind every broken home, every troubled life, every sorrow and grief.
But Christ loves us, and came to save you, and me, from the penalty of all this.
It is God, who still reaches out to us through the Holy Spirit, with the gift of faith that saves.
Christ continues to come to us in His Word and Sacraments found in His true Church.
And here is the great power of the Gospel, of Christ's Good News.
That we are saved through faith in Him, alone, despite our natures.
We can learn from Jesus that while we’re mighty sinners – He’s an even mightier Saviour.
The Apostle John wrote his Gospel in Greek.
The Greek word for finished in the Bible, "tetelestai,” doesn’t simply mean, “it’s over.”
It was the term used for a business contract successfully completed, and it meant: paid in full.
That’s what Jesus was saying to us about salvation from the cross.
No co-payment is necessary, or possible.
When it comes to redemption, He’s done it all.
The Apostle Paul explained in Ephesians, Chapter 2, verses 8 to 9:
“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith – and this is not from yourselves – it is the gift of God so that no one can boast.”
Our faith alone in Jesus as Redeemer saves us.
And that is the best news we could ever hear, because we could never do it on our own.
Today, when you look at the cross, I’d ask that you not only see the pain and agony of the crucifixion, but also see God’s love in Christ.
Because God the Father didn’t send Jesus, and Jesus didn’t willing go to the cross out of anger or hatred.
Many people wish that someone in their life would love them unconditionally, would love them so much they would die for them.
The truth is, someone did.
His name is Jesus Christ, Son of God, Saviour.
And so, may the knowledge of God’s love and forgiveness for you, keep your hearts and minds in Jesus Christ, now and forever.
Amen.
A LITANY FOR GOOD FRIDAY
P: Is it nothing to you, all you that pass by? C: Look and see if there is any sorrow like my sorrow. (Lamentations l:12)
P: The Lord says: My people, what have I done to you? How have I offended you? I led you from slavery to freedom, but you led your Saviour to the cross.
I brought you out of Egypt, but you handed me over to the high priests. C: Holy God, holy and immortal One, have mercy on us.
P: My people, what have I done to you? How have I offended you? I led you on your way in a pillar of cloud, but you led me to Pilate's court. I bore you up with manna in the desert, but you struck me down and scourged me. C: Holy God, holy and immortal One, have mercy on us.
P: My people, what have I done to you? How have I offended you? I gave you a royal sceptre, but you gave me a crown of thorns. I raised you to the height of majesty, but you have raised me high on a cross. C: Holy God, holy and immortal One, have mercy on us.
P: My people, what have I done to you? How have I offended you? I gave you saving water from the rock, but you gave me gall and vinegar to drink. For you I struck down the kings of Canaan, but you pierced your Saviour with a lance. C: Holy God, holy and immortal One, have mercy on us.
P: We adore you, O Christ, and we bless you. C: By Your holy cross you have redeemed the world.
P: If we have died with Him, we shall also live with Him. C: And through faith we shall also reign with Him.
P: We adore you, O Christ, and we bless You. C: By Your holy cross You have redeemed the world.
+ Service of the Sacrament +
P: Blessed are You O Lord, our God, king of the universe, for you have had mercy on us and given Your only-begotten Son that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.
C: We give You thanks Father for the redemption You have prepared for us through Jesus Christ. Grant us Your Holy Spirit that we may faithfully take communion and receive the blessings of forgiveness, life, and salvation that come from the body and blood of Christ.
P: Father, hear us as we pray as Jesus taught us.
LORDS PRAYER
C: Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven; give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the Kingdom, and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.
Preface
P: The Lord be with you.
C: And also with you.
P: Lift up your hearts.
C: We lift them to the Lord.
P: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
C: It is right to give Him thanks and praise.
P: It is truly meet, right, and salutary, that we should at all times, and in all places, give thanks to you, O Lord, Holy Father, Almighty and Everlasting God. For in the mystery of the Word made flesh, You have given us a new revelation of Your glory; that seeing You in the Person of Your Son, we may be drawn to the love of those things which are not seen.
The Words of Our Saviour Instituting The Lord`s Supper

Isaiah nods.
"bernard. yep... that'd be who called me. are you from 'round here?" There's a slight pause. "i... admit, i'm slightly at a loss. normally i try an' do some sort of background check on those who call me in for help. check in for any mental health issues. couldn't find much on bernard, and he was real..."
A tiny frown.
"cagey, i guess th'word is. but persistent and panicked. i didn't want to leave him without help."
Isaiah notices the discomfort, but doesn't comment on that, either. It's another one of those things he's used to. People laughing at him, people being uncomfortable around him. Par for the course. But he nods at Miles's insistence.
"well, in any case, you're fighting a good fight. on the side of the lord. many people aren't willing to fight it anymore. it would be my pleasure to work alongside you. even if all we do is fix some pipes."

devotion by Bernard Trippett, Jr
Declare it!
"Behold, the former things have come to pass, And new things I declare; Before they spring forth I tell you of them" Isaiah 42:9, NKJV.
"You will also declare a thing, and it will be established for you; So light will shine on your ways" Job 22:28, NKJV.
I declare His love reigns in your life. I declare His favor surrounds you as a shield. I declare you will sow in certain areas of your life, and you will begin to abundantly reap. I declare over you healing, rest, and peace. Your best days are now. I declare your pain turns to fuel what you are passionate about. New dreams are being stirred up and awakened. I declare a love for Jesus to be experienced that you've never known. I declare the power of God over you! I declare you are a man of courage and intensity. I declare great experiences and great joy. I declare great victory, and a new thing springs forth in your home, your marriage, and in your life. There's power in what you declare. What God says over your life and those around you shall be established in your life.
Prayer: Father, I thank you today for all you have declared over me in your word. I declare your word over my life today. I declare victory and joy over me. I believe, therefore, I speak the Lord is on my side, and I do not have to fear. I declare strength and peace are mine. Increase is mine. I declare I live like Christ and will completely walk in your will for my life. In Jesus' name, Amen!
Study: 2 Corinthians 1:20, 4:13 & 5:7; Psalm 115:14

‘You, Lord, give perfect peace to those who keep their purpose firm…’ Isaiah 26:3 GNT
Your life is like a camera; you’ve got to focus it correctly to get the right results. Having the right focus can bring four results.
First, it simplifies things. When you’re not clear as to your purpose, you try to do too much—and that causes stress, inner conflict and confusion. You have only enough time and energy to do God’s will. Not getting everything done may be an indicator that you’re doing far more than God ever intended. Focus leads to a simpler lifestyle and a saner schedule. Only when you keep your focus can you keep your peace: ‘You, Lord, give perfect peace to those who keep their purpose firm.’
Secondly, it gives you direction. If you want your life to have impact, consult God, and then do what He tells you. Don’t confuse activity with productivity. Diffused light has limited impact, but when light’s focused like a laser it can cut through steel.
Thirdly, it energises you. It’s meaningless work, more than overwork, that wears you down. George Bernard Shaw wrote, ‘This is the true joy of life: being used up for a purpose recognised by yourself as a mighty one…being a force of nature instead of a selfish little clot of ailments and grievances, complaining that the world will not devote itself to making you happy.’
Finally, it determines your legacy. When people recall your name, what will they associate with it? ‘A good name is more desirable than great riches; to be esteemed is better than silver or gold.’ (Proverbs 22:1 NIV)
Ultimately, what matters isn’t what others say about you, but what God says. So focus on the end game.
