Eventually you find out that this dragon actually belongs to a different kingdom, but is suffering from near-sightedness and colourblindness, meaning that accidental kidnappings and incorrect bank transfers happen quite often (The bank is spending a fortune on cart horse therapy). You send for an astronomer and a blacksmith and eventually the dragon gets a lovely monocle, along with a respectable silk top hat (The hatter insisted when he heard all the commotion.) Eventually the dragon returns with a gift from its kingdom, as thanks for your help...

It's a giant steel rose! which would have been lovely if the dragon hadn't staked it directly through your front porch, causing a rather embarrassing scene where your neighbor witnessed you falling out of your front window and into a freshly manured plant box...

Oh well, I suppose it's the thought that counts, and anyways, your pet dragon seems to love using it as a roost.

I suppose they earned it, didn't they?
