Piles Treatment - Laser Surgery Procedure & Operation Benefits
one of the most common anorectal medical conditions, yet least talked about is piles. Piles, or hemorrhoids, are swollen tissues and blood vessels found inside the skin in the rectal region. You can get the best treatment for piles at SurgiKure, with top-notch medical technologies and equipment. Book a consultation today with SurgiKure to get rid of piles.
What Are Piles?
Piles is generally not a serious medical condition and can be treated with lifestyle changes and home remedies, like increasing fiber intake, drinking plenty of water, practicing good hygiene, using over-the-counter creams or ointments, and avoiding straining during bowel movements. However, in more severe cases, surgical procedures may be required
What Are The Types and Grades Of Piles?
Piles can be classified into the following based on their location and characteristics:Internal Piles Internal piles develop inside the rectum above the dentate line. They are not visible from the outside and are categorized into different grades based on their severity and prolapse.
Grade 1: Grade 1 piles are the mildest form of internal piles. They are small and found in the lining of the rectum. They do not protrude out of the anus and usually do not cause any symptoms. Treatment for Grade 1 piles often begins with conservative measures, like lifestyle modifications, sitz baths, topical creams or ointments, etc.
Grade 2: Grade 2 piles are larger than Grade 1 and may protrude during bowel movements. They protrude from the anus but spontaneously retract back into the rectum after the bowel movement. Treatment options for Grade 2 piles may include non-surgical interventions like rubber band ligation, infrared coagulation, and sclerotherapy.
Grade 3: Grade 3 piles also prolapse during bowel movements but do not retract independently. They need to be manually pushed back into the rectum. They may cause significant discomfort, pain, itching, bleeding, and difficulty maintaining proper hygiene. Treatment options for Grade 3 piles may include rubber band ligation, infrared coagulation, and sclerotherapy.
Grade 4: Grade 4 piles are the most severe and advanced stage. They remain prolapsed and cannot be manually repositioned. These piles are large, inflamed, and highly sensitive. Grade 4 piles can cause intense pain, bleeding, and hygiene difficulties. In addition, they may also be associated with complications such as thrombosis (blood clots) or strangulation. Surgical intervention may be necessary for Grade 4 piles, and options may include laser surgery and stapled hemorrhoidectomy.

Laser Piles Treatment : A Modern Approach for Effective Relief
Tumblr media
Individuals may experience discomfort and anguish as a result of piles, commonly known as hemorrhoids. Those looking for modern and efficient treatment alternatives might explore laser piles therapy. This innovative procedure, carried out by skilled proctologists in Indore, provides a less invasive treatment for pile alleviation while assuring a faster recovery.
Understanding Laser Piles therapy: Laser piles therapy, also known as laser hemorrhoidoplasty or laser hemorrhoidectomy, is a groundbreaking procedure that targets and treats piles using laser radiation. It entails using a specialised laser instrument that generates high-intensity light radiation, which successfully shrinks and removes hemorrhoids.
Advantages of Laser Pile Treatment: Laser piles therapy is a minimally invasive process that requires just minor incisions or cuts. When compared to standard surgical approaches, this leads in less discomfort, less bleeding, and a speedier recovery.
Precision and Accuracy: The laser technology utilised in this therapy enables precise and accurate haemorrhoid targeting. The laser beam accurately cuts off blood arteries, allowing for successful pile removal while causing minimal injury to surrounding healthy tissues.
Reduced Complication Risk: When compared to standard surgical techniques, laser piles therapy has a lesser risk of problems. The regulated laser energy reduces the risk of infection, scarring, and other post-operative complications.
Faster Recovery: When compared to conventional surgery, patients who undergo laser piles therapy recover more quickly. Typically, the technique provides for early mobilisation and a speedier return to normal activities.
How to Find a Proctologist:

Post-Treatment Care: Following laser piles treatment, the proctologist will offer extensive post-operative instructions. This may involve good cleanliness practises, dietary changes, and pain management and healing drugs.

Pile is a common term used by patients. Often patients attribute any discomfort in the anal region to "piles." Haemorrhoids are the medical term for piles, and they refer to a cluster of blood vessels present in all of us in the anal region. They cause discomfort when they enlarge, bleed, protrude (prolapse), or itch. The majority of haemorrhoids do not need surgery.

Discuss cutting-edge laser therapy for piles, fissures, and fistulas with our attendees at 13NHPSUCG
Tumblr media
A proctology clinic has been established with a focus on LASER-based treatment for anorectal disorders. The clinic's mission is to assist patients in overcoming their fear of surgery and finding a cure, particularly for piles, fissures, and fistulas. Here is where laser therapy for anal fistula comes into play. You've come to the perfect site if you've had it with online searches for piles treatment in your area.
Hemorrhoids, often known as piles, are a relatively common disease, but because surgery terrifies them, few people talk about it, so many continue to suffer without ever seeking medical assistance. At our facility, more than 75% of patients receive outpatient treatment using contemporary methods and without surgery.
The New Modalities for Outpatient Treatment The office treatment for IRC, or infrared coagulation.
The infrared coagulator is used to treat internal first- and second-degree piles outside of the hospital. It is the nonsurgical therapy method that works the best. They produce no negative effects and deliver really good outcomes. These procedures don't hurt.
No more than 30 minutes should be spent in the clinic. Westerners refer to these operations as "office treatment," which implies that you come from your office during a break, get the procedure completed, and then return to your office.
THE DAY CARE PROCEDURE USING LASER Diode Proctology uses a 980nm/1470nm 15W laser.
It is a day care operation that takes 30 minutes to do under anesthesia, after which the patient may be released. To decrease the submucosal hemorrhoidal nodes from the inside out, laser energy is given by radial fibre directly into the nodes. Additionally, the blood supply supporting the abnormal growth is reduced by the laser energy employed in the laser treatment for fistula.
Prolapse is avoided or is less likely to develop after piles surgery with laser. Additionally, laser fissure surgery is far more advantageous for those with such severe issues. You can locate the best laser treatment options nearby by searching for "piles therapy near me." Sometimes a formal surgical procedure called a stapled hemorrhoidectomy is necessary (MIPH).
The benefits must be emphasised, even at the expense of repetition:
·         Low pain score
·         able to start working right away
·         The best operations in terms of aesthetics help patients feel more confident.
·         There are no chances of incontinence or faecal leak because the anal sphincter activity is completely retained.
·         Since there is less chance of bleeding.
·         In the outpatient clinic, the process takes about 10 to 15 minutes to complete.
·         Can be done on the same day as the operation.
·         Patient post-operative pain is reduced
·         speedier recovery
·         satisfied client

“What if Ahsoka Went to Mustafar”
Chapter 7
Rex’s voice came over the comm link, “The Chancellor is here with a division of the Coruscant guard led by Fox”
“We’ll be right there.” Anakin replied. He looked at Padmé, confusion on her face made him feel guilty; he kissed her and said “I love you, never forget that.” Then he ran out of the room with Obi-Wan. Ahsoka and Yoda were in the hallway and joined them in running to the front of the station. When they got there, Rex was stationed with Organa’s men and they had already engaged the enemy.
“Well, you’ll need these!” Ahsoka said while tossing Anakin and Obi-Wan their weapons. All the force wielders, including Palpatine, had their lightsabers ignited, ready for battle.
“Come, Lord Vader.” Sidious demanded.
“No.” Anakin replied “You lied to me!”
He ran at Sidious and started to attack him.
“Your hatred is giving you strength, you aren’t even trying to supress it, see how powerful the dark side can be?”
Sidious knew what he was doing been as this made Anakin so angry that his eyes glowed red. From then, flashes of red and blue replaced the two men. The fight went on for some time, Palpatine’s acrobatics and Anakin’s lightning fast strikes caused both to start losing their stamina. As Yoda witnessed this, he quickly came up with an idea.
“Ahsoka, Obi-Wan, apart help me push them!”
The two nodded as they all called upon the force to separate the two. Yoda brought Anakin back over to them but the success was short lived as the clone battalion’s incredible combat training paid off and quickly started to overwhelm the opposition. The Jedi’s team were doing their best to keep the clones at bay but it was taking its toll on the Alderaan troops. Being in close proximity to Fox allowed Rex to tune in the frequencies only carried in clone helmets.
“This is Commander Fox to Commander Cody, we need your help, I repeat, we need your help.
“Cody?” Rex thought, but before he could relay the message, Yoda stated his new plan.
“Attack Sidious I will, join one by one you will to assist.” he said.
He used the force and jumped over to Sidious. The Sith was surprised to see the little green Jedi was alive, which briefly played to Yoda’s advantage. The momentary surprise allowed Yoda to slide past Sidious and take his gaze away from the station. Sidious called his second lightsaber down his sleeve to his hand and ignited it, the crimson blade illuminating his disfigured face under his hood. He was determined to finish their business. As his back was turned, Ahsoka ran to join in but Sidious used the force and held Ahsoka back, but she was soon released when Obi- Wan jumped in to attack also. Ahsoka ran to aid the Jedi masters. Even though it was 3 vs 1, Sidious was somehow still getting the upper hand.
“Any time… now… Anakin!” Obi-Wan said struggling and panting.
The flashes of the lightsabers clashing made it almost impossible for Anakin to see where he should jump in. He remembered what Qui-Gon said about staying on the light, he pulled himself into a brief meditation and used the force to see the action. He saw what to do but all the clones were in the way. He couldn’t get past them without killing them, which he didn’t want to do. He looked at Rex who seemed to know what he was thinking.
“You have my permission, if that’s what you were going to say.” He said, after what happened to Fives and Ahsoka, the Coruscant Guard had a lot less respect from Rex.
Anakin nodded at his friend, gripped his lightsaber tighter and practically ran through them, slicing each one of them like a Tusken Raider. It took some time to get through them but in the end he saw his friends becoming more and more fatigued by the very quick combat of the sith. He didn’t know how to do this while staying on the light, he couldn’t, it was impossible; he just dipped back into the dark then, Anakin could already feel it’s seductive nature intoxicating him, clouding his conscious.
“Don’t worry. I am with you, Anakin.” Qui-Gon said through the force. Anakin swore he felt his master’s large hand on his back like he did all those years ago. While he had the courage to do it, he leaped up and flipped over the lightsaber caused chaos. As he landed, he sliced Palpatine in vertically in half. Palpatine grunted before he could take his last breath, and fell to the ground. The three of them stared at Anakin with complete and utter shock. Ahsoka couldn’t look at the mutilated corpse so she turned and ran back to Rex’s aid. Yoda, Obi-Wan and Anakin’s gazes went from each other to the body, all were expressionless. The moment was over powered by the LAAT’s of the 212th legion arriving. Obi-Wan saw his old battalion and flashes of what happened on Utapau invaded his mind.
“Oh, not good.” He said as the orange clad clones descended from the gunships and immediately started to attack.
Rex saw his brother, Cody, for the first time in weeks and decided to try and talk some sense into him. He tried to act like his chip was still in to blend in with the rest.
“Cody!” he shouted,
“Rex!” he replied, happy to see his brother alive. “Or should I say Commander? I do believe that congratulations are in order!”
“Not anymore, demoted.”
“Why?”
“I’ll tell you another time but for now, what do we do now the Chancellor is, well, dead?” he motioned to the decapitated body. Cody hadn’t even noticed, he was shocked at the sight and left speechless. Before he could respond, Fox ran towards them and said “We carry out Order 66 and execute the people responsible for treason.”
The mention of the command made Rex wince. He saw Cody straighten up and look almost robotic, just like the droids they fought against, programmed to do whatever is needed of them.
“Yes sir!” Cody said and started to run off but stopped when he realised that Rex wasn’t following.
“Aren’t you coming?” He asked.
“What? Oh right yeah.” Rex started to follow Cody, but while he wasn’t looking, he ran to the Jedi generals.
“Order 66 has been activated again for yours and Ahsoka’s termination.” The Captain said.
“Lovely.” Obi-Wan said completely monotone.
“A laughing matter this is not, Obi-Wan.” Yoda scolded “Stop this how do we, Captain?”
“All the clones have an inhibitor chip implanted in their brains; Ahsoka was smart enough to remove mine, but the rest of my men weren’t as lucky.” He turned to Skywalker “Remember when Fives told us about them?”
“He was right?” Anakin responded.
Rex nodded.
“How do we remove these chips?” Obi-Wan asked.
“We need a scanner and a surgery droid or capsule, it’s a short procedure and then they can function normally right after.”
“Look for one of these capsules inside, I will.” Yoda said, he then quickly ran through the commotion and into the station.
The three men ran back to help the other troops, Rex wanted to fight alongside Cody again, but he couldn’t betray his General. He could feel Cody’s confusion as he ran past him to the man-made trench.
“Rex, what are you doing?!” Cody shouted over the comm. Rex quickly thought of an excuse for his behaviour, “Doing it from the inside.” He shouted back.
“Smart move!”
Rex hated that his brother’s unique personality had dissolved to become just like all the other clones. The laser bolts flew between the two sides for a long time until Yoda’s voice finally came through the comm.
“Found the resources for the surgeries I have. Many of the capsules are there.”
“Understood, Master” Obi-Wan replied.
“How do we get them in?” Ahsoka said while blocking rounds of blaster fire.
“Try to pull them over with the force while Rex stuns them. Then Anakin, put them inside and the droids will get to work.” The Jedi master replied.
They all nodded their heads in agreement.
Obi-Wan and Ahsoka called to Rex as a trooper flew his way, Anakin dragged them one by one into the lobby onto a gurney which was quickly whisked away to a med-bay.
The clones started to see that there brothers were being forced behind enemy lines.
“They’re taking hostages!” Fox yelled out.
“We need to recue our brothers!” replied Cody.
They started to charge at the station.
“Rex! Get out of there!” Cody shouted.
“No can do, Cody.” He stunned his brother and dragged him in to Skywalker.
“There are too many of them!” Ahsoka said.
“Fall back!” Kenobi ordered.
Everyone went into the station and held the doors shut.
“How many are left out there?” Anakin asked.
“About half, sir.” Rex said.
“That’s too many.”
Bail Organa ran around the corner, “We have clones coming in the south entrance by some of the other med-bays.” he said.
“That’s where Padmé is!” Anakin said “Rex, how many are out of surgery?”
“We have around 20 left to go.” The Captain responded.
“Take them to the south entrance and get ready to evacuate the place if we need to.” he ordered.
“Yes sir.”
Yoda came round the corner.
“Skywalker.” Yoda called
“Master.” Anakin responded.
“Subdue the clones from here we can. Together we must work to do this. All their heads, hit against each other make them, but not too hard or kill them it will.”
Anakin nodded and they both held their hands out, reaching deep into the force. The clones all rose up in the air and all crumpled into a pile on the floor with a loud clang.
“To the med-bays, get them.” Yoda ordered. Everyone there obliged and carried a trooper onto a gurney. Rex ran back from the south entrance.
“All the troops are ready for the procedure.” He reported.
“And Padmé and the twins?” Anakin asked.
“I … I couldn’t see them sir.”
Fear once again rose in Anakin.
I’m sorry this chapter is so long, I couldn’t condense it or find a place to split it into 2. But I guess it makes up for how short the last chapter was😅. What Are Piles?
Piles is generally not a serious medical condition and can be treated with lifestyle changes and home remedies, like increasing fiber intake, drinking plenty of water, practicing good hygiene, using over-the-counter creams or ointments, and avoiding straining during bowel movements. However, in more severe cases, surgical procedures may be required.

So Close
(I know this timeline doesn't made sense but oh well)
Amelia sat in the stiff, plastic chair in the waiting room of the OB/GYN floor, her fingertips gracing the underside of the small bump that had formed over the last couple weeks as her second trimester progressed. Link was late, as always. Probably jogging through the corridors of some random floor of the hospital. His ability to get lost in a hospital he’d been working at for the last three years was almost admirable. Sometimes she’d find him wandering through vacant stairwells and poking his head into random offices, completely disoriented and probably holding a string of patients up. She did enjoy when he’d get lost on the neuro floor because it meant that she’d probably get a short visit if he managed to find her under the pile of paperwork that had formed since Edwards had left. Her fellow had always taken care of that type of stuff. Amelia had completely forgotten how to function without her. She glanced at the clock again.
“Hey!” Link’s voice snapped her out of her daze and she glanced up to find him leaning on the doorframe of the waiting room.
“Hi,” she breathed, giving him a nervous smile before focusing behind him on the cheesy poster that outlined some medical miracle about a set of triplets that were supposed to not have made it out of utero. She found herself shuddering at the thought.
“You okay?” Links brows were knit together in concern and he quickly closed the space between them. “You look worried.”
“I just have this pit in my stomach,” she responded, staring at the ground and trying to physically shake off the feeling that she’d woken up with that morning. “I feel like something is wrong.”
“Like nauseous?” Link was trying to understand, he’d noticed the change in behavior as they’d woken up that morning but had been late for work and wasn’t able to check in on her. She shook her head in response, interlocking her fingers together at the curve of her stomach. Link was about to question further when he was interrupted by the sound of their names being called into Carina’s examination room
“She’ll be in shortly." The nurse smiled softly, as she closed the door gently behind her. Link held out his hands to his girlfriend as she awkwardly hoisted herself up onto the reclined chair.
“Moving much today?” He asked, trying to distract her from whatever she was in deep thought about. Amelia shook her head, surprising him.
“They’ve been pretty still.” Link had finally been able to feel a kick a couple of days ago and was still completely mesmerized by the idea. The flutters had started a little while before, shocking her at first because it was something that she never actually experienced with Christopher, despite the tricks her mind had played on her.
“Ciao,” Carina greeted them as she entered the chilly examination room and slid into the swivel chair beside the ultrasound machine. “Good to see you guys again. How are we feeling? Eighteen weeks now, yes?” Amelia nodded, Link could tell she was nervous as she swallowed uncomfortably.
“What’s wrong, Mia?” He said aloud, receiving a look of confusion from Carina. He wrapped his warm hands around her cold ones and could tell that she was on the verge of tears.
“Everything’s probably fine,” she shook her head uneasily as Carina and Link hesitated in silence. Finally she picked up the light blue bottle of ultrasound gel and spread it over her stomach carefully. “Can we get this over with? I have surgery and I still need to get lunch or Link will attack me for not eating enough.” She tried to smile at him but he could tell that she was internally freaking out. When he didn’t return her enthusiasm she looked away, fixating on the ultrasound which had just whirled to life. Carina expertly guided the wand around Amelia’s abdomen before glancing at the couple worriedly. Amelia felt as though time stood still when the obstetrician bit her lower lip and turned the monitor slowly out of their view. Link’s grip on her hand loosened and he muttered something incoherent in confusion. He didn’t understand what that meant or what was going on like she did. He didn’t know that the way Carina was staring at that screen meant that something was undoubtedly wrong. She wouldn’t either if she hadn’t experienced that same look before, worn on her best friend as she delivered Amelia the news that resulted in one of the worst days of her life.
“What’s wrong with them?” She finally broke the silence. “What’s wrong with our babies?”
“I should get a second opinion,” Carina finally responded, tearing her eyes away from the screen and looking at the anxious couple. “I’m so sorry.”
“I don’t understand.” Link felt like he was a million miles away and that everyone in the room knew something he didn’t.
“What do you think it is?” Amelia found the words slipping out of her mouth before she decided if she even wanted to know the answer.
“TTTS,” Carina replied, hoping to god that she didn’t have to spell it out for them. The way Amelia recoiled made it obvious that she didn’t have to. “We don’t have a lot of time.”
“Which one is weaker?” Amelia asked so fast that Link had barely processed Carina’s response.
“The girl,” the OB replied, glancing at the heart beat once again to confirm before nodding.
“Have you done the procedure?” Her pregnant co-worker’s voice was as fragile as a china doll.
“Dr. Robbins is the only one who has successfully completed multiple solos in North America,” Carina forced herself to continue. “She’s overseas at a conference. Wouldn’t be able to make it to Seattle until tomorrow night if she got on a plane immediately.” She could tell that her male co-worker was in a daze, trying to understand what the pair were even talking about while also stealing nervous glances at girlfriend.
“I need to call Addison, can you just give us a second?” The neurosurgeon begged. Carina nodded, stepping out of the room and thanking god she could finally breathe again. Amelia picked up her phone with shaky hands and found Addison’s name almost immediately, willing for her ex sister-in-law to pick up.
“Amelia, what?” Link’s voice made it evident that he had finally made the connection that something was wrong.
“We don’t have a lot of time,” she willed her voice to stay level. “Addie?”
“Hey, Amy!” Addison’s voice was light and cheerful as were most of her friends who lived in L.A.
“Have you done a twin endoscopic laser ablation?” She found herself blurting out, not knowing if she had the mental ability to engage in small talk. Link had gone so white she thought he might pass out beside her.
“I’ve watched a couple and assisted on a couple when I was working under Kypros in the U.K.” Addison’s voice was suddenly solemn. “Why, do you have a friend?” The phone’s static crackled as Amelia tried to find a way to put everything into words. “Amy...no.”
“Yeah,” her voice cracked into a million pieces and Link regained enough composure to tug her into what he hoped was a comforting embrace.
“I’m getting on a plane,” Addison’s voice rang clear, loud enough for Link to understand. “We’re going to fix this. I’ll read every article there is to read on my flight and we’ll fix this, okay?”
“Okay.”
[][][]
Link wasn’t known to get aggressive but it took everything he had not to punch a hole in the wall of the room that the couple was frozen in after finally learning the seriousness of the position they were in.
“Even if the surgery is successful, it’s rare that the donor twin will survive,” Amelia added numbly, as Link led her into an on-call room.
“Addison’s going to come,” Link didn’t know what else to say, “and she’s going to figure this out.” He guided her onto the bed and allowed her to burrow her head into the crook of his neck. He undid the clasp to the bra that she’d been complaining was getting too small for weeks now and placed it beside them gently. It was the fact that she was silent that worried him the most. There were hardly any secrets or hidden passive aggression in their relationship. Everything on Amelia’s mind was almost immediately blurted out and he was barely ever kept in the dark about how she was feeling. “Do you want to talk?” He asked, not knowing what else to say. Amelia shook her head, closing her eyes and letting out a long shaky exhale. Link sighed, dropping his hand into her hair and massaging her scalp gently.
“Feels good,” she mumbled, her hands travelling over her stomach. She wanted to pray to god that they were both okay but she was trying to push every thought that entered her mind away. She knew about the syndrome enough to know that if one had died the other one would follow quickly, their little blood supply completely interconnected. She glanced up to find Link’s eyes teary, so deep in thought that it seemed like he was a million miles away. “Do you understand what’s going on now?” She found herself asking but in no way wanted to explain it to him.
“My mom was pregnant with twins,” Link’s voice was soft, “After me. Something went wrong.” His brow was furrowed, as if he was trying to remember the event that had happened years ago.
“Oh,” Amelia replied. “I’m sorry.”
“I was too young to really remember.” Link shook his head. “Is this genetic? Is this my fault?” He looked at her in a way that made it evident that he had begun to blame the entire situation on himself.
“No,” she forced out quickly. “It’s not genetic.” She waited until he relaxed. “It’s not your fault. It's not either of our faults.” That thought had been running through her head since they’d found out the news and she was still trying to convince herself it was true. Link relaxed beside her and pressed his palms into his face. He didn’t like when she saw him cry, she knew that well enough. They stayed that way for what felt like hours, both trying to hold back tears by holding each other instead. Every flutter inside her gave her hope that they were doing okay and every so often she’d press Link’s hand to her abdomen, hoping that he could feel them too.

Addison, still buzzing from the three iced coffees and adrenaline of practically rolling out of bed on her day off and catching a plane to Seattle, entered the examination room breathlessly. Link was cradling Amelia’s small frame in his arms, whispering something inaudible to her into her hair. It was the type of exchange that physically hurt to watch and she felt frozen in time for a millisecond.
“Hi,” she found herself saying from the doorway. Amelia lifted her head in response and wiped her red, irritated eyes on Link’s scrub top. “I’m so sorry.” Amelia shrugged, Addison could tell she wanted to make some inappropriate and emotionless joke but couldn’t piece anything together.
“Here we go again.” Was all she could manage to say, in a tone that made Addison want to cry herself. Link allowed her enough space to pull Amelia into a hug.
“We should do an ultrasound now. Carina hasn’t filled me in yet. Can you--”
“Last time we checked they were still doing okay,” Amelia interrupted. “Or were still alive, I guess I should say. The donor twin, she’s the girl, her heartbeat was slowing down. The boy's was still beating strong last we checked.”
“Okay,” Addison muttered, picking up the familiar instrument and spreading gel over Amelia’s stomach. “So I don’t have to give you the speech on how the procedure, if done right, should be successful for the recipient twin? We can hope that the girl will survive but the odds are less.” Amelia nodded.
“I remember from when you assisted on the one at St. Ambrose. I think I was living with you at the time. You talked about it at dinner. It was a miracle they both survived.”
“You and your insane memory.” Addison smiled, cupping her shoulder and giving it a light squeeze for support. Amelia held her breath as the machine whirled to life. Addison found their boy’s heartbeat easily before focusing on their baby girl. Amelia glanced up at Link with teary eyes, not wanting to watch as Addison moved the instrument around expertly. Finally the sound of a slow thunder echoed through the room and the pairs entire bodies relaxed a little. “We need to get in there now,” Addison sighed. “No need to book an O.R. and waste time, it’s very minimally invasive. The first one I watched was performed in a practice.” She motioned to one of the nurses, who was waiting outside, to enter the room. “Let’s sterilize the room as best we can. Get Carina in here, she should observe and I need all the equipment now.” The nurse nodded quickly before going to complete Addison’s orders. “I’m going to inject the aesthetic, you’ll feel a little pinch.”
“Relax, babe,” Link said softly, placing a hand on Amelia’s tensed shoulders as Addison snapped a pair of gloves on and picked up the needle.
“Alright, one, two, three,” she muttered quickly as she swiftly inserted the needle and placed a small piece of gauze over the injection site. Amelia winced as the long needle entered her stomach and looked away. Carina appeared in the doorway with the nurse and handed Addison three long instruments. “Alright, Amelia, just look up at the screen for me okay? We’re going to see your babies in just a second.”
“Can you count down again?” The neurosurgeon asked, knowing that Addison was trying to distract her from the large rod she was about to stab into her abdomen.
“You should barely feel it with the anesthetic...but of course,” Addison responded. “Just look at the screen, okay?” She glanced at Link who was looking queasy despite his speciality being one of the goriest. “One, two, three,” she stabbed the sharp end of the rod into the side of Amelia’s baby bump before pushing it in gently and sliding the scope inside. “You see his hand?” Amelia nodded, mesmerized by the image of the screen.
“This is always my favourite part,” Carina interjected. “Seeing the little ones in utero. So peaceful.” Link nodded with his eyes, alike Amelia’s, focused intensely on the screen.
“So now we just have to decipher which blood vessels belong to which baby,” Addison announced, guiding the scope down below their son.
“Can we see her?” Amelia asked.
“Of course,” Addison glanced up at her sister and could tell she was trying to catch a glimpse of the second baby. “You can get a look at her before we pull it out.” Addison and Carina’s voices were hushed as they turned the screen towards each other, deciding which blood vessel belonged to which and not wanting any input from the worried parents. Addison took a deep breath and allowed time to slow. She tried to block out the fact that this wasn’t just any worried mother but it was the person she’d already delivered awful news to once before. After nodding a final time to Carina, she started the laser.

Mourning my dog. Writing out a detailed narrative helps me. CW below the read more for animal death, medical issues, and grief.
Two years ago schools shut down for the pandemic, and I was going out of my mind. We didn't know how long we'd be virtual. I promised myself that if school ended up being closed through the end of the school year, I would do two things: I would get a therapist, and I would get a dog. (I did both.)
We were not planning on getting a senior dog, and she definitely was. (Her age was suspect. First she was billed as 8, then 10, then it seemed she was more likely 11.) But when we learned that she had been in rescues and shelters for three years because no one wanted an older dog, we had to adopt her. Every dog deserves a loving home and family.
Right off the bat, two things became clear. First, that she was a loving, sweet, wonderful dog who wanted a family and knew right away that we were her people. She let us pet and cuddle her even when she avoided other strangers when we first picked her up. Despite being crate-trained and having comfy beds in other rooms, she spent her first night in a pile of my laundry on the floor of my bedroom, just to be near me. She was a nanny; she decided when it was time to go to bed, and made every effort to lead us there if we weren't listening. Once, when I was having a bad night, she led me to bed and led my sister to take her on her walk, even though it was my job. She spent her days going to work with me in my little set up in our basement, and I often cuddled her during classes.
Second, it became clear that she was much higher needs than her rescue had realized. She had a gash on her paw that wasn't healing properly. She had cataracts and lenticular sclerosis. She did not have "a little arthritis"- she could barely walk without an NSAID, but she had a sensitive stomach and every NSAID made her sick. She had cracked teeth and wasn't food motivated because of the pain. She had stitches from another operation (we think a tumor removal a year prior) that had never been taken out. The more care we gave her, the more was revealed. There was a point where she was bedridden and our vet had no idea what to do, and sent us off to a physical therapist. In our first visit with the physical therapist, she showed us an x-ray and said that she thought our dog had been hit by a car in the past. Her hip was completely out of its socket, in addition to the arthritis, ruptured tendon, and calcified tendon her body was also dealing with. She had almost no range of motion. We were told she was not a good candidate for surgery and this was the point where some people would consider euthanasia. We had only had her for three months.
I learned a lot about the world of what is available. Not just canine physical therapy, but also acupuncture, hydrotherapy, laser therapy, etc. We did all of it. Her physical therapy team got her happy and walking again. She loved physical therapy- she would walk around the little obstacle courses they set up for her just for fun, and she loved the cuddles and treats. The physical therapist upgraded her from an acute to a maintenance patient, with monthly instead of weekly visits, gave us exercises to do at home, and told us that she should be stable. If she continued to decline, it would be not due to her other musculoskeletal issues but rather a neurological condition, like doggy ALS.
She continued to decline over the past year. By last winter, she stopped going on walks. She needed help to stand up. She started stumbling more, standing with her feet folded under her, having more accidents around the house. In her last few days of life, she could not lie down without support. She had no muscle mass left. Coincidentally, Neil Gaiman recently made a post about his dog, and I recognized a lot of similarities. Most likely she had degenerative myelopathy, which is progressive and incurable, and would have eventually become paralyzed.
She was also losing appetite and weight. By her last weighing, she had lost 10 pounds. Her physical therapist gave us some medication to treat her nausea, which helped, but then last week she developed vomiting and difficulty breathing. She had a bad cough. We told each other it was probably organ failure, but we weren't really ready to hear that diagnosis. My sister brought her to the vet Friday, and I left work early to join when we heard the news.
She had heart failure. Her lungs were slowly filling with fluid, and if left untreated, she would eventually drown. They put her on oxygen to stabilize her. (I had thought her tongue was grayish when we brushed her teeth a couple of days prior. Turns out it was blue from lack of oxygen.) We brought home heart medication to try, adding to the list she was already on. It was a diuretic, and we were warned she would pee and drink more often. (She didn't. Whether because she was too unsteady on her feet to go drink water or because she didn't realize the need, she was dehydrated instead.) They also mentioned anemia and unusual thyroid hormones.
Saturday, they called to tell us her bloodwork indicated she had stage three kidney disease, aka moderate kidney failure, and the heart medication would accelerate her to end-stage, aka severe kidney failure. Her annual physical (hah) had been scheduled for Friday, but they wanted to see her earlier. While her respiration was normal, other problems persisted. She was still losing weight. Her mobility was still worsening. She alternated between lethargic and restless, unable to get comfortable.
On Tuesday, we gave our report, and our vet asked us if we thought it was time to say goodbye. Sobbing, we agreed that things were unlikely to get better, and we didn't want to wait until she was in extreme suffering. We wanted her to die with dignity and peace. She was relaxed and got lots of cuddles from both of us.
I love my dog, more than anything. It is physically painful not having her. My brain keeps expecting her to be around the corner. I catch myself having thoughts like, "I can't put that there, she'll trip on it." I don't want to clean, as silly as it may sound, because I know it will erase the traces of her around the house. I cry often.
Before the pandemic, I had no work/life balance. There would be days where I wouldn't come home until 6. My sister was working a different job in those days, and she was always home before me. Then, the pandemic, and when schools reopened I left work on time to come home to my baby. I have no frame of reference, no preparation to come home to an empty house. To be honest, I avoid spending time in my house alone, trying to be elsewhere or fill it with people. Otherwise the loss feels too great.
I am grateful we adopted our dog, and her memory is a blessing. But I am grieving and it hurts.

oh btw! i'm the anon who sent the ask to autismtypes and saw your comment- those of us involved in the cripplepunk movement generally prefer abled people not to use the term cripple still! as it's still a slur, and while we can reclaim it due to its history, physically abled people can't. you're right in that we don't like sugarcoating, though! however, avoiding using cripple if you're abled is more about respect than sugarcoating (i'm not sure if you're involved in the movement or not-
I don’t know if I get to class myself as able bodied or not. I have absolutely terrible vision (couldn’t cope without my glasses and couldn’t have laser surgery as they are too bad for that. Also don’t sell my prescription in contact lenses). So like my eyes don’t work and they are part of my body. Then I also have some kind of EDS, not sure exactly what as I’m still working to get a diagnosis. It affects all my joints, sometimes fun stuff like my spine and ribs dislocate. So occasionally I’ll wake up and can’t move for a while because something has slipped and its pressing on a nerve that makes my limbs work....  And then I also have issues with fainting if I stand too quickly or stand still for more than about 20mins. And then I have Reynaud’s Syndrome too. But can technically walk and all my limbs function most of the time, albeit painfully. So still working on the correct terminology there for myself. I’m certainly not missing any limbs or permanently paralysed at the moment and think I’m unlikely to end up using cripplepunk, though I wholeheartedly support the movement. I’d rather be careful and not use it as I’m not fully sure if there is a “cut off point” with that specific movement or if its meant to cover anyone with any kind of physical disability. I’ve meant to look it up but keep forgetting or being too tired when I’ve remembered so adding it to that pile of things to do when I have the spoons except I’ve forgotten by the time I have them back.
I am disabled in other ways though (I’m autistic, have bipolar disorder, pretty sure also ADHD, tons of PTSD from childhood trauma...)
So I’ve been careful not to use the term for myself or to refer specifically to others. I just know that there are a few of my online friends who ARE a part of the cripplepunk movement so I don’t want people reading that post and thinking that anyone who uses the word shouldn’t be using it and attack them. I didn’t see where the post originated for the context of your correction. Because I’ve seen friends get attacked for saying they’re part of the cripplepunk movement and also for identifying as queer because some people say its a slur (despite its history being one of self identification since at least the 80s, I forget if it was earlier; I’m tired). I’m lucky enough not to have been attacked for saying I’m queer even though I am. But I’m all for minimising hurt wherever possible even if its not affected me personally (or hasn’t yet).
Thanks for sending the ask. Its good to make sure to clear things up when its not obvious.
I’ll probably delete this later (if I remember) as I try to keep this main blog purely for corset content (unless the topics overlap significantly enough) because I need one place that’s just pretty things. I normally do most of my disability related talk over on my bipolar or autism specific blogs depending on where I feel it fits most.

Habits That Can Cause Piles You Didn't Know About
Tumblr media
Piles are a fairly widespread condition that can happen to anyone, regardless of age. Sufferers may report pain during bowel movements, bleeding without any discomfort, and irritation or itching around the anal area. This is caused by engorged blood vessels near the anus or lower rectum due to increased pressure. In fact, people have several everyday activities which could lead to piles unknowingly. Read this article to know about the harmless habits that can lead to piles problem.
Sitting for too long on the toilet seat
Tumblr media
When you sit on the toilet seat, you put extra pressure on your lower rectum blood vessels, which can help you get a bowel movement going. In order to avoid piles, it is best to avoid sitting for too long anywhere, including the toilet seat or the chair at work. If you sit in this position for a long time, it can exert undue pressure.
Eating spicy or junk foods
Tumblr media
Consuming too much spicy, fatty, or junk food leads to constipation or diarrhea, which increases the risk of piles. Eating a healthy, well-balanced diet is the key to good health and avoiding complications like piles.
Lifting heavy weights
Tumblr media
As a result of lifting unusually heavy weights, the anus walls may engorge and bulge out due to the pressure placed on the abdomen and the blood vessels in the walls. When blood vessels are under increased pressure, piles may form. People who lift heavy weights as part of their jobs should gradually become accustomed to it.
Drinking less water
Tumblr media
Constipation can occur if you do not drink enough water. Some people add fiber to their diet as a means of managing constipation, but fiber combined with adequate water intake can worsen constipation, increasing piles risk. To stay hydrated and healthy, one should drink at least six to eight glasses of water a day.
Pooping multiple times a day
Tumblr media
From repeated sittings, pooping multiple times per day, for whatever reason, can put extra pressure on the lower rectum's blood vessels, resulting in piles. To prevent complications, the underlying reasons for multiple pooping need to be treated appropriately and promptly.

This Must Be The Place
timestamp for  Lifetime Piling Up, 7 years later, but works as a standalone.
(2440 words, T, all the fluffs)
Read it on AO3
It’s the sort of day that leaves Cas desperate for some reminder that life isn’t all trauma and tragedy. He’s finished his shift at the hospital, where one of his patients lived and the other didn’t. It’s the reality of his life as a trauma surgeon, and he’s long ago accepted the fact he’s not God, that he can’t save everyone. It doesn’t stop him from trying.
He’s too worn out from five hours of surgery and a heart-wrenching talk with a man’s grieving family members to bother changing his clothes. Cas ditches his pristine white lab coat and slams the door of his locker. There was something he could do to turn the day around. Something impulsive, but something he’d also been planning for a long time; saving it up for the perfect moment.
Something life-affirming.
Cas pulls on his coat, the lapel catching on the hospital identification clipped to the pocket of his scrub shirt, and walks purposefully out the emergency room door. He waves to Alex the charge nurse at the desk and to a few other people who notice him leaving, but after the day he’s had nobody tries to hold him up when he looks so determined to leave. He’s grateful for that small mercy.
It’s raining as he pulls his car out of the parking garage and drives on autopilot. He sees the shop every day on his way to work and every night as he drives back home. Tonight he lucks out. There’s an empty parking spot right in front of the door, like it was meant to be. He pulls in without a second thought and shuts the engine off. He sits there for a minute, his head resting back against the seat as he basks in the welcoming glow of the blue and yellow neon sign in the window, the light streaked and shattered through the raindrops rolling down his windshield. It’s raining even harder now, and Cas just smiles to himself. It feels right. Everything feels right for once that day.
He pats down his pockets to be sure he has everything-- phone, keys, wallet-- and then readies himself for a mad sprint across the sidewalk through sheets of rain to the shelter of the shop’s awning. The familiar neon-lit window looks so different up close than it does when he’s driving past. The glowing Winchester Tattoo logo is clearly visible from the road, but the dozens of drawings that frame the sign and almost completely obscure the view into the shop from the sidewalk are another story entirely. On closer examination, each of them is easily worth a thousand words.
Cas thinks to himself that if the weather were being more cooperative he could spend hours giving every last drawing the attention it deserves. Then again, he also knows he’d only be delaying the inevitable. He’d talked himself into this months ago, and then waited so long for this moment. He wasn’t about to talk himself out of it now. This was definitely what he wanted, so why would the thought of actually going through with it fill him with dread?
He’s a surgeon, dammit. He has no trouble helping others deal with physical pain, but this is something potentially far more terrifying than that. This would be forever.
Cas closes his eyes, heaves in a fortifying lungful of cold, humid air and then opens the door. He’s greeted with a warm, inviting roil of heat and light and sound. The tinkling of a dozen tiny bells hanging above the door provides an uncanny counterpoint to Led Zeppelin playing on the stereo, several quiet conversations and the intermittent buzzing of a tattoo gun. It’s the strangest combination of things to inspire a feeling of ease and contentment, but as he looks around the warmly lit shop and acknowledges its occupants Cas can’t help feeling an inviting sense of home .
The man behind the front counter hunches over a sketch as a customer describes the artwork he’s commissioning, pointing out a detail that the artist erases and then redraws to the customer’s satisfaction. The artist sets his pencil down and continues to study his work, standing up straight and clasping his hands behind his back as he arches into a stretch. The sleeves of his incongruous white lab coat ride up revealing strong arms covered in vibrant tattoos, heaven and hell, light and darkness, somehow both perfectly at home together as if he carried a piece of each extreme in either hand. Cas can’t help the quiet laugh at the sight, how similar the coat is to the one he’d left at the hospital, and yet how startlingly different this one appears in context draped over the shoulders of this beautiful man who looks more like a punk rocker with his faded Metallica t-shirt and ink-stained fingers than a medical professional.
Where his coat is embroidered Dr. Castiel Novak above the pocket, the artist has chosen to create his own name tag in a swirling riot of color. The name Dean is written in a bold script across a hand-drawn banner surrounded by bird wings and wildflowers. Cas wonders what his colleagues would think if he showed up at the hospital with a similar badge, and laughs a bit louder.
He finally garners a glance from Dean, who gives him a little nod and a wink to let him know he’ll be with him shortly. Cas nods back and then distracts himself by observing the shop’s other occupants. One artist, a young blonde woman, is entirely focused on her work while the man in her chair whimpers through the pain of a shoulder tattoo. Another older artist meticulously sets up her station for one of the customers waiting on the sofa off to Cas’s left. The three girls look barely old enough to be getting tattooed at all, yet they eagerly flip through the photo albums labeled with each of the artist’s names-- Claire, Jody, Donna, and of course Dean-- commenting on the pictures as they wonder in equal measure at how good they look and how much each one must’ve hurt. He’s entirely bemused by the girls when he hears Dean finishing up with his client.
“So if you’re good with that, I can fit you in next Tuesday at four,” Dean says to the man, who nods and hands over fifty bucks as a deposit.
“Sounds good to me,” the man says. “Been wanting to get that done for years.”
Dean puts the money in the cash drawer and prints out a receipt that doubles as an appointment reminder while Cas sidles up to get a closer look at the artwork. It’s two birds in flight, circling around each other, that he recognizes as arctic terns. Cas glances up at the man, who catches him looking but only smiles back at him.
“For me and my wife,” he says. “Arctic terns mate for life, but they’ve got the longest migration of any birds in the world. Their entire lives are one endless road trip together. Well, in a manner of speaking.” The man laughs.
Cas glances at Dean to see him smiling curiously at him, as if he’s waiting to see what Cas has to say on the subject-- of tattoos or arctic terns or gruff old men deciding that’s how they want to commemorate the love of their life.
“Congratulations on finally going through with the tattoo, and for having someone you cherish to share your life with. It’s a beautiful piece.”
Dean’s smile brightens for a moment at Cas’s reply, his green eyes filling with a captivating mirth.
“So,” Dean says, leaning in and making a show of reading the identification badge still clipped to Cas’s shirt, “Dr. Novak, what brings a classy, upstanding doctor like you into my humble little den of iniquity tonight? Just getting out of the rain for a minute, or are you thinking about getting a tattoo?”
The customer belts out a startling laugh, but Cas pays him no mind.
“I noticed you’re still open, and I’ve had an idea for a tattoo for a while now. Would you prefer I schedule an appointment, or are you free right now?”
Dean looks him up and down and grins. “For you? I think I can spare a couplea minutes. What are you thinking?”
The girls on the sofa giggle at the unfolding drama, whispering to each other behind their hands. Mr. Arctic Terns says what the girls are either too polite or too shy to say aloud.
“Ooh, are you sure about that? You’re a doctor, you must know it hurts, and how painful the laser is for folks who regret their ink later.”
Cas smiles mildly at the man and slides off his coat, laying it on the counter beside Dean’s sketchpad. “Yes, I’m fully aware.” He continues stripping off his scrub top, the ID badge clinking against the glass countertop as he sets it down as well, leaving him in a heather grey long-sleeved henley that clings to the defined muscles of his shoulders, back and arms. Dean raises an eyebrow but doesn’t otherwise object to the strip tease.
The other customer nods seriously as Dean folds his arms across his chest and bites his lip to keep from laughing aloud. Cas appreciates it, as well as the mischievous glint in Dean’s eyes.
“I’m just saying, medicine doesn’t seem like a profession that looks kindly on tattoos.” He turns to Dean. “No offense to your profession, but I ain’t never seen a doctor with ink.”
Cas just sighs and casts a wistful look at Dean, who shrugs and waits to see what he’ll do next. Jody’s finished setting up her station but she stands back beside Claire, whose tattoo gun has gone quiet as they both watch and wait to see what will happen next. Even the three giggling girls are practically holding their breath at this unusual series of events. Cas barely even registers their presence as he reaches down and tugs up the hem of his henley, then whips it over his head.
“I dare say you’ve seen at least one tattooed surgeon,” Cas says, never taking his eyes from Dean and only peripherally registering the little gasps from the three girls at the unveiling. Not only is Cas a physical work of art himself, his skin is all but covered in glorious illustration.
“Well then,” Arctic Tern Guy says, scratching his head and then moving toward the door with a little chuckle. “Guess you learn something new every day. I’ll see you Tuesday, Dean,” he says, and then the bells tinkle and a gust of cold wind sends a shiver across Cas’s exposed back before the door shuts again behind him.
Cas’s shoulders settle again like a bird folding his wings, which is the visual illusion he gives with the broad set of wings tattooed across his shoulder blades and down his arms past his elbows. Above the wings and up to the base of his neck is an expanse of outer space, the black punctuated by bright stars and a glowing pink and purple depiction of the Heart Nebula, the greenish streak of a comet piercing it like an arrow. Below his wings blooms a garden of vines and wildflowers populated by a dozen or more frolicking bees. Heavens and Earth.
Through the entire show, Dean and Cas just smile at each other until Dean finally cracks. “Guess you told him, sunshine.”
Cas just shrugs and-- to the three girls’ dismay-- begins dressing again. “It always disappoints me when people assume that the appearance of someone’s skin has any bearing on their competence or their professionalism.”
“You’re a regular crusader,” Dean adds, also looking a little disappointed that Cas put his shirt back on. “So did you just stop in to fight social injustice?”
Cas steps up close to the counter, reaching into the back pocket of his dark blue scrub pants and shaking his head. “No, I really am interested in another tattoo, and I believe you’re the only person I’d trust with it.”
Dean’s smile returns. “Well I hope I’m worthy of that kinda faith.”
Cas nods, slowly edging his way around the end of the counter until he’s practically toe to toe with Dean. “You’ve proven that to me over and over again, every day for the last seven years. I hope I’m worthy in return.” He drops down onto one knee and holds out his hand, a simple gold ring in his outstretched palm. “You’re the best thing that’s ever happened to me, and I don’t ever want to imagine a day without you in it. I love you, Dean. Will you marry me?”
Dean stares down at him for a second, and that terror that had held Cas back from asking sooner begins to creep up inside him. The pain of a tattoo needle’s got absolutely nothing on this. But Dean blinks and then pulls Cas to his feet, grabbing him up in a tight hug and planting an awkwardly sloppy and slightly frantic kiss on him as Dean tells him yes over and over again.
“Hot damn,” Claire’s client says and the rest of the shop erupts in a chorus of delighted awws.
Relief and joy flood through Cas, washing away his entirely baseless fear and making room for the certainty that Dean will always be his. Jody and Claire offer them fond congratulations, as do the three girls, before Jody brings one of them back to her station and she and Claire both get back to work.
“That was unexpected,” Dean says the minute everyone’s attention moves on from them, and admiring the way the ring looks on his hand before pulling Cas in for another kiss. “How long you been planning that one?”
Cas shrugs. “A long time. Years, maybe. On some level, probably since the first time I walked into your shop.”
Dean nods, too overcome to even tease him. He clears his throat and leans against the counter, pulling Cas close. “So did you really have another tattoo in mind? Or was that just an excuse to come see me at work?”
“I gave you a ring, and I was hoping you’d be willing to give me one too.”
It’s a ring he’ll never be able to remove, and one he’d never want to. When Dean’s finished inking it into his skin, he removes his gold band and teaches Cas how to give his very first tattoo. It’s the sort of day that’s marked indelibly in their skin, and all the way down to their souls.
