Iron Man: Underdogâ¨
Spiderman: I believe its a thing; i donât agree with or support it though.
Black Widow: for the villains would probably be more interesting and more safe; i mean if the heroâs catch me Iâm probably just going to get roughed up a little and jailed. Ive seen avengers and stuff. But villains are bad guys. I donât trust bad guys to not seriously hurt me.
Hulk: i mean i prefer analytical and communication and working through things. Am i always good at doing that in the heat of the moment? No. I give myself very good advice but i very seldom follow it. đ¤ˇââď¸
Thor: Warm rain and overcast skies, cool enough i can wear layers so the sun doesnât have as much exposed skin to touch, but warm enough Iâm not freezing
Captain America: Iâm really not tbh, and i never have been. In the words of green day âfuck americaâ
Black Panther: War Of The Worlds, Invasion of the Bodysnatchers, 2001 a space odyssey, invader zim enter the florpos
Ant man: 4â11
Bucky Barns: i am ambidextrous when i want to be i can legit draw with one hand and color with the other, AT THE SAME TIME!⨠i found out because in art classes we had 5 minute sketches and i HATED how unfinished it was so Iâm like both hands lets go! My teacher thought i was cheating and then after watching me he was impressed.
Captain Marvel: Moneyđľ. I grew up pretty well off but i dont think i really value money. Dont get me wrong money is great when you want something or there are bills to pay. I just think that some things are more important. For example i had friends that really struggled and my parents and me would fight because thats not my money to do what i want with, their probably just using me but honestly i wasnât about to let my friends go hungry! đ also the đ° (one of my dads) judges my bf because hes yehaw and he doesnt make as much as đ° would like. But honestly were not really struggling, he makes me happy, i love him fuck the đ°
Hawkeye: something heavy, Iâve used one of those germ ex dispensers that was basically a metal pipe and a heavy chair. Im not really allowed to have weapons so if Iâm in a fight i need to think on my feet and go go go
Doctor Strange: Ghost Activities? We were at the supermarket no-one around and from across the isle this ghost just starts throwing lemons at me. And Neku cant see ghosts like me so he just turns to me and is like âthat one of your ghost friends?â And Iâm like âYepđâ
Peter Quill: honestly most people? I am 30 and still constantly confused for much younger and seen as a stupid kid basically. ( i have neoteny basically i didnât grow or develop normally. Example: i lost my baby teeth in high school, went through puberty in my mid twenties. Im smaller than most adults, extreme baby face. Donât really look or act my age)
Falcon: đ¤ˇââď¸ i do know i think its so stupid that we cant afford to properly feed and take care of our soldiers with as much money as the american government puts into the military, i donât agree with war, but honestly its arguably human nature and not having armed forces puts us at risk from other armies. We also wouldnât be such a world power without our army. No other army compares. Though america is definitely a bully with its armed forces
Gamora: Depends. Does it have to be blood family? Cause fuck that. I would totally choose the found family i chose in a heartbeat though. I love my best friend/Boyfriend and his family. I love my little coven. Donât honestly care about success all that much. But idkđ¤ˇââď¸
Nebula: i mean i am straight up an example of that. I was arguably the âbad kidâ growing up. Was extremely troubled. Had a reputation of being Volatile,Dangerous and Uncontrollable. got in some pretty severe trouble. Honestly did time for that. I was a really moody angry kid. But honestly when i found people who believed in and accepted me, gave me the love i always needed and wanted. I changed. Ive softened and sweetened a-lot with age. And now people are legit surprised to hear about my past with the degree that Iâve changed.
Wanda: teleportation. And i can bring others with me! Would legit make traveling so much easier as someone whoâs not legally allowed to drive. Oh i want to see this friend! BOOM! Letâs go to the art museum! BOOM! Like sure theirs uber but Iâve heard horror stories. People are sketch and Iâm kind of at their mercy sitting in their backseatđ
Deadpool: whats the hardest part of a vegetable to eat? The wheelchair.đ¤đ
Loki: me and my friends bought the biggest energy drink can that we could find. Got rid of the energy drink filled it with juice and i just went around school drinking it watching people freak out. Teachers were basically like fuck no youâre not having that in my class where did you even get that. One kid joked about the world ending. Im severely hyperactive and was often manic and sugar high in high school. People were basically freaking out because i really donât need that.
Venom: Red hood or Damian.
Nick Fury: Feral Child, Wild Animal, Gremlin. Cute/Sweet.
Thanatos:đ¤ˇââď¸ depends on if the situation calls for it. Idk man cant think of examples
Rocket: Fenic Fox, Octopus, Raven, Dingo
Drax: Knives; honestly Iâm smaller and weaker than most adults. Knives would be effective.
Groot: probably very. Always a menaceâ¨đ
đĽ marvel character asks
iron man:Â first superhero you ever liked?
spiderman: do you believe in hometown pride?
black widow:Â would you rather be a secret agent for the heroes or the villains?
hulk:Â which approach to conflict do you prefer: analytical or physical?
thor:Â whatâs your favourite kind of weather?
captain america:Â how patriotic are you?
black panther:Â whatâs your favourite sci-fi movie?
ant-man:Â how tall are you?
bucky barnes:Â do you have any hidden talents?
captain marvel:Â on what topic do you and your parents most disagree?
hawkeye:Â if you had to fight, what would be your weapon of choice?
doctor strange:Â whatâs an occurrence of everyday magic youâve experienced?
peter quill:Â is there anyone that underestimates you?
falcon:Â tell us your feelings on the armed forces.
gamora:Â if family and success were mutually exclusive, which would you choose?
nebula:Â do you believe a person can truly change?
wanda:Â if you could have any superpower, what would you choose and why?
deadpool:Â tell an offensive joke you feel bad for finding funny.
loki:Â greatest thing youâve done on april foolâs day?
venom:Â what non-mcu marvel character would you love to see in the mcu?
nick fury:Â how do other people perceive you?
thanos: do you believe in necessary sacrifices? give an example.
rocket:Â favourite non-domesticated animal?
drax:Â would you rather fight with fists or knives?
groot:Â how annoying were you five years ago?

I am watching What IF...?
Episode 1: What if... Captain Carter were the First Avenger?
You know... when I saw that it started from the breach in Captain America timeline and saw Peggy become a super soldier, I was pretty sure that Steve will resent her for what she did, because his portrayal in the First Avenger movie even before the serum indicated that he would be, just like he was of Bucky for being drafted while he was left behind. Itâs canon behavior for him as far as I noticed.
What If..?âs Steve however is a better man. I dunno when exactly he changed, but he did. He doesnât act as if he resented Peggy, and he seems quite ok with how everything turned out. Which is like, wow, I didnât expect that. Also, Peggy has a far better story as Captain.
Like, she isnât put into USO, she is denied being a soldier even, because she is a woman, the only thing she seems to share with Captain America is murdering punching bags and throwing stuff when angry, which is kinda a bad sign, but ok, everybody needs coping mechanisms. ANYWAY, when she learns where Hydra went, she quickly figured out what they were after, but the guy in charge (John Flynn), the same one who told her that she is a woman not a soldier, doesnât want to send her there even though they still have a chance to get it back in time. So Howard steps in and her whole rebellion against the military is about not endangering everybody with a stupid ass decision made by a general who doesnât get how important the cube is, instead of about saving just one man and accidentally saving 400 others by extension by literally going AWOL and endangering his friends like MCU Steve did. Everything about the mission which makes her recognized is about retrieving the Tesseract. And Howard gives her a uniform and a shield to do just that. All in British colors, because American military sucks.
(I love their âshe just reaped the bars out, holy shitâ faces xD)
AND THEN they go SAVE BUCKY. That makes much more sense story wise. And also Howard is showing Steve that technology can aid him when the serum now canât, because Peggy is the super soldier instead, literally building better foundations for Steveâs attitude towards technology and the future. He will not be stuck in ice and come back for the Avengers, but at least he is getting better development not only in relation to this topic, but also to his hatred towards his body and his masculinity. Peggy still wanting him despite him being small and frail and now also disabled even more after he was shot and has to walk with a cane, literally builds in Steve the idea that his masculinity is not weak or bad, because he is not a macho muscly type and that his body isnât something which he should hate or which makes him less than others. AND he is literally Tony now! I did suspect that the technology he got was a suit, but damn, is Steve in this universe fated to be the first Iron Man and then Tony second?
Lol, they named him âHydra Stomperâ.
And now Peggy teaches Steve the most important lesson âthe Suit is nothing without the man insideâ, which he as much as Tony needed to learn to finally feel free and not less than the others, because they rely on something. The only difference between Steve and Tony here is that Iron Man without Tony is truly nothing, because he made it, while Steve's suit was given to him, so anybody can technically pilot it. Anyway, I like this Steve so much more than MCU one.
(Which when I think about it now creates a pothole in the later part of the episode. Like why Hydra and Red Scull let the suit hanging instead of use it against Peggy? Why put Steve in chains next to it? It kinda looks like damseling him for literally no reason. I wonder why they didnât kill him right away? Because what? Because he had blonde hair and blue eyes? Or what? Scull liked him? And we cannot even say it was done for the sake of Peggy saving him, because Peggy never sees Steve in chains. She went the other way, so why is he there? To save for whom? Bucky? It would be more logical if Red Scull just killed Steve and put the suit himself and fought Peggy in it to hurt her. Then at least space squid wouldnât kill him, lol... ah wait. OH, yeah, Tesseract was inside the suit, so he just took it out. Still, he could power up the suit with something else and put one of his people inside to fight Peggy anyway, just in case she came for him).
AND OF COURSE HE HAD TO TRAGICALLY DIE WHEN I FINALLY STARTED LIKING THE WEASEL! LOL, we know what will happen next. He will become the new Winter Soldier, I suppose? If he survived the explosion.
Oh, they brought the original castle storyline back! It never appeared in the Captain America: The First Avenger, even though I personally remember a castle being a main stage for the whole âSteve sacrificed himself preludeâ thing, so itâs nice to have a castle and an interdimensional portal back, instead of a plane battle.
âI am up for anything, but this is crazyâ.
âAnd so is Steve Rogersâ
Me: *wheezing*
Anyway, he survived. There is no Winter Soldier in this universe and Peggy gets lost in the portal, and she is brought back to 2012 by I suspect Project Pegasus as it is the âLokiâs arrivalâ scene.
I think that now, if we assume that everybody else is still present in this universe, meaning that Tony became Iron Man and all, Steve becoming a Hydra Stomper and working with Peggy gave Captain Carter an experience in fighting alongside someone in a metal suit. Plus her friendship with Howard means that she wonât have any bad disposition towards Tony and hence Avengers team will actually work better, and if there is Civil War it would be different and about something else, because Captain Carter knows her way around learning political related stuff, so she wouldnât really kick Accords in the ass unless it was a Hydra plot. I also suppose that without her making Project Paperclip, Hydra would not infiltrate SHIELD, or someone else does that, and Captain Carter would notice something is not right with SHIELD, and she would root the Hydra out herself.
Also, I wanna point out that the scene in which Peggy is shown to be âsmarter than Howardâ is there only to establish the difference between her and MCU Steve Rogers, who doesnât know shit about technology. Itâs not that Howard isnât smart anymore. He is a civilian, who is not a brawling type, in a room with a huge octopus which crushed Red Scull like a wooden stick. It stands to reason that he would be panicked enough to not be able to articulate properly. It also establishes that no âit runs on some kind of electricityâ will happen in this universe during the Avengers storyline, where she ends by the end of the episode. It comes out a little out of the blue, thatâs true, but this is not a line which only âgeniusâ or âscience typeâ can say. Itâs just a typical sci-fi approach to the problem with anything, which also sounds smart at the same time. She could even take it out from a sci-fi novel. But I agree that they didnât establish where that knowledge comes from in any of the previous scenes.
Episode 2: What if... TâChalla became a Star-Lord?
Lol, a vastly different reaction xD
And this was the moment when young TâChalla thought, âwho needs to tell their baba that theyâre going into space, anyway?â and just went and disappeared. I donât even wanna know what Wakanda did after the prince vanished. Though it means that Shuri can become a queen and the Black Panther now, HELL YEAH!
And this is the proof that anybody who says that we have to murder someone else to âsave the planetâ from overpopulation is wrong. (Because they are wrong, just go and check studies about that). TâChalla just showed Thanos the benefits of equal share of the resources and saved the universe with logic and diplomacy.
And my hopes for Queen Shuri just went out the window. BTW, why Nebula turned into a living example of âblue space babeâ (from feminist studies which pointed out that alien women are just human women painted colors and shown in sexy clothes or portrayed as dancers and prostitutes for the benefit of the male gaze). She got sexy hair, sexy dress, and she is later shown to be some kind of spy by the clothes she wears and her general attitude. She reminds me so much of Natasha that I am tempted to say she is a sexy spy clichĂŠ.
Itâs kind of degrading after the whole episode which centered around a woman being denied being a soldier, which in the whole militaristic and male dominated setting was pretty much conveying feminist messages, while here in another male dominated setting we have only two women shown with any lines and one of them is Nebula sexy spy. It just comes across weird after the previous episode, tbh.
She even speaks like Natasha from the MCU... and she betrays just like our dear russian friend, Natasha. Anyway, it looks like Queen Shuri is still on the table! Wakanda prevails! It was not destroyed!
Ok, nevermind. She is a space Black Widow, but in this way that she plays every side just like Natasha does. Apparently... betrayal was part of the plan, lol. What is with this idea that women named with a name starting with N are good spies in this universe?
Carina the badass! GO CARINA! SHOW THEM!
At least in this universe, she doesnât foolishly die for âdramaâ. Or, in MCUâs case, for exposition to show âwhat happens to those who touch the infinity stoneâ. I gotta say, her revenge was sweet.

It's been a week since I saw Endgame and I think it's really the time for me to write some comments about it.
The First Part of the Movie
- It was kinda smart as in a couple of minutes it foiled almost every theory ever made about it.
- It was good as they showed us our heroes humanity, the way they struggled to move on after the snap and how alone, responsible and broken they felt.
- It was too long: they could've used half - or at least a third - of that time to cover some of the plot holes left at the end of the movie, or to show us something more interesting. For example, Imagine if there was no scene about Hulk taking pictures with his fans and instead of it we'd got Steve's meeting with Red Skull. Wouldn't it be amazing? Yes.
- Thor and Hulk were destroyed. Those characters went on a journey since we first met them, and starting from Ragnarok to finish with Endgame, they ended up going backwards instead of moving forward. They were hilarious in some moments, yes, but mostly they looked ridiculous and ooc. I mean... Hulk's dab dance? WTF?! Thor spending his days playing fortnite? It looked a little excessive to me honestly.
- I loved the way Natasha and Steve kept counting on each other like the family they were supposed to be. They give each other strength and support, and love. They were amazing. Truly.
- Tony's speech almost made me cry. Of course I knew that was not his end, - it was too soon -, but I almost cried anyway. Watching him suffering pained me. I was trying to figure out how they would manage to get out that situation when Carol showed up and I almost screamed. And CAN WE TALK ABOUT TONY LETTING NEBULA WIN, PLEASE?!
The Time Travel Thing
Basically, Ant man came back to our world to find out half of the population had been wiped away, and he has this idea of time traveling because why not? Let's mess with our minds a little more.
They explained that if they went back, their past would not change anyway, but at the same time Bruce says that when they remove an Infinity stone from its timeline, they create an alternative reality. Now, sure Steve put them back to where they belonged when they were not of use to the Avengers anymore, but still, there's a Loki who fled with the Tesseract in 2012 and I don't think that Steve faced him and fixed it on his own: I mean, it took the six of them to defeat him the first time! So, didn't that create a different reality? There is an Infinity stone out of place after all.
Still, I can't see how Thanos could do the snap if his 2014 version is dead. All I'm saying is that the timeline we saw remains unchanged, but we can't actually know whether there is an alternative timeline in which IW never happened or not. I like to think there is because this would mean that there is a reality where Nat, Tony and Steve are still alive, together and maybe happy. Just we'll never see it. Unfortunately.
Plus, the soul stone. A soul for a soul, right? Given that Steve returned the stone, couldn't he get Natasha back?
Tony. I expected Tony to die at the end of this movie but seriously guys that hurt too much, I was not ready at all. He finally had the family he deserved and wanted but could not sacrifice half of the living beings on earth just to keep his happiness. WHAT A CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT. He started from fighting for himself to almost sacrifice himself in Avengers 1 and to actually do it in the end. Chapeau, Iron Man.
Steve. And here the thing gets complicated. I expected Steve to die as well, though his death would have broken me, - you know, favorite character and so on. We were ready for just one of them to die, so the only way to completely destroy our hearts was to kill both of them off. They didn't, and somehow this was even worse.
It's like we were robbed of our proper goodbye to Cap. I am, of course, happy he got the love of his life back (though I can't see how this will not affect the timeline tbh), but up to Endgame, things happened. First of all, Sharon Carter. And here everything gets weird. Secondly, he made a journey during which he changed and came to accept what had happened to him. In the end, it was all thrown away. It's kind of ooc for me that he just left Bucky in the present, friends who needed him, and went back to the past. And at the same time I can't actually see him just sitting there when he could prevent shit to happen. Though he promised Nat to move on, and maybe, after losing Nat and Tony, he realized that the only way for him to move on was to go back. Because yes, I think he wouldn't have come back if they had been alive. And Bucky followed his own path after CW, so they had already gone on separate ways.
As I said, it's tricky. A lot.
It's like Tony learnt from Cap to sacrifice himself and Cap learnt from Tony to put himself first for once.
"See you in a minute".
Natasha's death. That I didn't expect. Well, actually I did, being her my second favorite character and being used to watching my favorite characters die all the time. But you know, I thought that the soul stone required the soul of the one you love the most, and there was no way that Clint loved her more than his family. So I thought he was the one better suited for the sacrifice. And instead that wasn't the case and she died. But I didn't want any of them to die anyway. And it hurt because she said "see you in a minute" and then she didn't come back. And Steve's reaction when he realized she was gone forever. My poor heart.
This movie truly messed up with me.
Random comments
- Pepper was amazing and the scene of all women fighting side by side was MARVELOUS. I wish Natasha was there though.
- Poor Morgan lost his father, they were so cute and happy, my heart can't handle this.
- Thor giving away his throne was... I don't know, that's tricky as well. His whole path was about becoming worthy and gaining the awareness he needed to be a just king. So it makes sense he didn't feel like ruling at that moment, he lost himself and needed to find the right path again, but giving the throne away? Sounds too much to me imho. But I also don't think we've seen all of Thor, so... Maybe they'll fix it later on.
- Gamora. 2018 Gamora is dead, 2014 one is alive. What. About. Her? If the past remains unchanged, does it mean that she has only four years left to live (in perfect final destination style)? Or maybe she died when Tony snapped? Or she just run away to follow her own path again, as originally in 2014 she left Thanos and changed from a bad to a good guy, doing we don't know what exactly. Maybe she's meant to do it again, (just in the future) before meeting Quill again.
- The Scarlett Witch is FIRE. Can't wait to see her show! (Also, Loki's. I wonder if it will start from him fleeing with the Tesseract or if it will be a prequel like the movie about the Black Widow)
- Ronin. It was like Natasha and Clint's position were reversed and this time it was down to Natasha to save him and she did it. She's so loyal to her friends, her family, the family she found in the Avengers. She deserved so much better.
- I expected that they had to face either Loki (the one who fled with the Tesseract, after he did it), as a sort of coming back to the start, or Thanos from the past. It was Thanos and I was happy. I still hope we'll see Loki with his character development intact again.
- The final battle was INCREDIBLE. AMAZING.
- When I was at the cinema, I was 99% sure there was no scene after the credits. I waited anyway. And it was only when I saw that black screen that I realized it was really, really over. That was the moment I had to repress other tears.
- I'm gonna stop now. I just want to say that, in spite of all the plot holes and things I don't agree with and that were done, or things that I thought could've been done better, I loved this movie. It's the end to an era that meant - and still means - a lot to me and it was AMAZING. I will bring all those characters and those stories with me forever. Nat, Steve and Tony in a special way. One day I'll come to terms with the fact that this is all. But not today.
Love you 3000.

What do you think couldâve been a way to make Loki AAâs primary antagonist AND keep him in-character? Wouldâve been my dream movie tbh
It wouldnât take a huge amount even if you leave almost the entire plot the exact same. He could have been an infinitely more effective Big Bad, but that would be more structural work and that kind of major overhaul isnât necessary if you just want him to be in character.
There is some stuff to work with. Thereâs already emphasis on him being in a very bad way physically and itâs already implied he suffered some kind of torture, so the most generous reading of the film as it exists is that Lokiâs mental state is so poor that he isnât in touch with reality. For example, when he says Thor threw him into an abyss- the charitable reading (and the only thing I think makes sense with THâs acting choices) is that he genuinely doesnât remember it accurately. His trauma and paranoia, spending however long in a void obsessing over what happened and trying to reconcile his own actions, spending however long being tortured, etc. have distorted his perception of events.
Now that heâs been forced to go on living, he canât admit that he tried to kill himself. The whole reason he tried to kill himself is that he canât cope with the reality of his situation and what heâs done- thereâs nothing to live for in that moment of lucidity when he offers everything up to Odin and Odin rejects it.
So, lean into that way more. Make the coercion more explicit and take out all the stupid, wrong âyou want daddy to make it betterâ power speeches (fy JW), the âa throne, any throne, at any costâ stuff, delete that awful (pointless anyway) scene with Black Widow, and give him an actual plan that makes sense from his pov. Have him still motivated by his desire to be a worthy son, a worthy prince of Asgard, and desperately trying to consolidate an identity of his own. He does not care about power, he never pursued power, what he wants is love, respect, belonging. He wants to prove that he is just as valuable as Thor.
Heâs not a âfull-tilt divaâ who wants his name on a building. Fame and adulation are not what he desires or what heâs missing. Heâs missing self worth and a sense of place. He is a terrified and insecure emotional-child who absolutely loathes himself and has had every anxiety-thought heâs ever had apparently vindicated by reality. His meltdown came about because being the temperate and sensible one (his natural disposition) is inextricably linked with being âotherâ and âless thanâ in his life. He had thought the problem was Thorâs impulsive, arrogant behaviour overshadowing everything, needing to babysit his brother rather than accomplish anything on his own, and that his pragmatic approach to life was obviously superior- if only Odin would acknowledge him, but then he discovers heâs a monster and so they must have been right all along.
A very substantial part of his original motivation was also genuine concern for the realm. Heâs diplomatic and relatively sober-minded until his very personal fear-buttons are being pushed; his anger is cool, only his hurt is hysterical. Nothing he ever does is done for no reason or just to make someone suffer (even his lies to Thor are intended to keep Thor from ever trying to return to Asgard, not solely to humble or wound him). Heâs callous in pursuit of goals he considers very important (in an unthinking, Iâm-royalty-this-is-the-fate-of-the-kingdom kind of way), but heâs not sadistic.
So to get him to act as the big bad, what makes sense? He has to think what heâs doing is necessary. He has to be able to justify it to himself as a greater good to cover the child-like, selfish, vulnerable primary motives; he does not want to be in charge and would never consider his own rule a âgreater goodâ. He doesnât consider collateral damage but doesnât cause it on purpose, and he is only driven to direct, extreme actions by panic and desperation. He should be a cerebral villain (Joss thinks he is in AA, but heâs not), so he should be playing 3-dimensional chess and should have at least two apparently contradictory layers to his plan (as he does in Thor1, where is seems like heâs aligned himself with the Jotuns and will allow Laufey to kill Odin until itâs revealed his real plan was to lure Laufey to a vulnerable position and secure that total victory for Asgard Thor has been boasting heâll get since they were children while also gaining an opportunity to personally rescue his father). He never stops adapting to changing circumstances, but his solutions are surreptitious and non-violent until heâs backed into a corner.
Therefore, a story where we think heâs just trying to usurp a world to find self-worth in ruling it for the first half (preferably one where he beats the shit out of Cap and Iron Man before allowing himself to be captured so the audience actually understands that he can and so he feels like an actually dangerous threat to the heroes), but itâs revealed that heâs really playing a triple cross. He is trying to prove himself to Odin and be vindicated, but heâs doing it by deliberately conning Thanos out of the Tesseract and protecting Midgard from harm; controlling and negating the invasion from within. He managed all this so he could be a âdefender of mortalsâ as Odin and Thor are, so he can take home a powerful artefact like Odin did the Casket of Ancient Winters. Planning to drop these spoils at his fatherâs feet while pretending he didnât orchestrate the entire situation. Like Thor1, this plan could essentially succeed completely even while parts of it blow up in his face and he struggles to keep believing itâs worth it, and the point is that his parameters arenât acceptable, itâs not okay to use whole planets as pawns, etc. and the heroes have to thwart him right as itâs coming together.
So instead of randomly disappearing leaving everything necessary to defeat him lying around unguarded and being completely superfluous to the climax as he is in the actual film, there is a meaningful fight with emotional stakes. Instead of Our Heroes vs Organic Battle Droids for forty minutes, there is a genuine conflict and genuine tension. Loki remains consistent and very sympathetic while still being a major existential threat. The film doesnât slap him around as comic relief or render him pathetic when youâre still supposed to fear him, he doesnât become a ridiculous cartoon misogynist space Nazi, he doesnât feel like a total damp squib of a villain who really didnât merit the big team up.
#loki#loki meta#I feel like this is a total convoluted mess but I've been asked this a few times now and I'd like to offer SOME kind of answer#I mean the short answer is just keep his personality#have him BE smart instead of just saying he is#let him be strong#let him do magic#I still can't believe Joss's bitching about how he's too weak and he needs another villain#when it is ENTIRELY Joss's fault people think he's weak#only Thor and Hulk are a threat to him in a physical fight#he's also brilliant can do magic and has a mind control stick#TH is a huge man Joss he towers over all your hero actors#(except Hemsworth obviously)#how is this not enough to work with#how did you manage to write him as so pointless you can take him out of the movie without changing anything#one of the richest characters in the entire MCU and you're like 'I can think of no organic conflict for this character'#'better write him as a Generic Villain 5'#Loki is so complicated that I'm being VERY breezy about some of this#where there are more layers to his motives#and he is definitely petty and shitty about stuff I'm not trying to deny that#but I don't want to rewrite all my Loki meta#I can't remember my avengers tags but I think I have most of it in the Loki meta tag now#for further more coherent reading#I'm going to regret this i have anxiety already

so if you are bitter bout mcu what are your unpopular opinions?
so a few people have actually asked me this since i said something vague about mcu yesterday haha so i figured iâll just make a big long post under the cut and i am sorry if anyone takes this offensively, i just have to rant about some of this stuff so read at your own risk (spoiler i get mad and it is longgggg)
I do also want to say i love the mcu despite its many problems and i do my best to separate it from the comics because i understand a movie/tv show canât develop characters the same way decades of comics can and different versions of their personalities/backstories are okay but still there is some corruption i canât take
First off - the maximoffs. Like ⌠no! I really am not a fan of the mcu versions. I could deal with their new personalities/upbringings if it wasnât at the expense of their ethnicity. Like for those of you that donât know, the maximoffs are jewish and romani, they are basically whitepassing pocs and they were very poor and are even children of holocaust survivors ⌠so how the fuck and why the fuck did they volunteer to work for hydra ?!?! just completely corrupting everything that made them who they were is so disrespectful and to make them fucking work for A NAZI ORGANIZATION is not a small personality/backstory change, it goes against everything from the original characters.
Wanda maximoff also just walked into the avengers with barely any accountability for her actions, yes she had to deal with the pain of what she caused at the beginning of civil war but hardly anyone is bringing up the fact that she toyed with bruce/hulk in aou which caused so much damage and very likely resulted in a loss of many civilian lives, how is no one realizing it is her fault ?! she was pardoned for everything she did when tony was painted as villain WHY
Also in civil war i was more on tonyâs side, i do think that cap was right in thinking that they shouldnât be solely controlled by the government because sometimes there are fights they need to do that they wouldnât necessarily be allowed to go to. B U T they do have to understand the effects of their often reckless actions. Yes they are saving the world but they could very well destroy it by not taking accountability for the damage they cause.
And okay civil war, like really? I just think it was forced and happened too fast, i know it canât be like the comics always, but the civil war in the comics actually served a real purpose and in the mcu it was just like 12 people fighting in a parking lot ??
Also the villainization of tony is just ⌠NO. like stop please. Tony makes mistakes, he does as everyone does and yes they are colossal ones too - i mean ultron for just one example. But he should not be seen as a villain for trying to protect the world. He saw infinity war coming a mile away and everybody was upset about it. Ultron was a disaster yes, but how is it that tony wasnât pardoned when wanda and bucky were? I am not trying to say bucky shouldnât be pardoned, because he was rightfully forgiven as he had no control over what hydra made him do, but wanda did ⌠and she isnât really apologizing or realizing the effects of some of her actions so ⌠why is everyone pissed at tony??
And god okay iâm gonna be brief with mcu nat because ugh but just fuck scar jo and get her out of my sight, black widow deserves a solo movie with an actually talented actress who isnât trying to steal minority roles alongside bucky barnes, i refuse to believe a black widow movie with no bucky could ever work
Guardians of the galaxy ⌠jesus they did my babies dirty. Mcu peter quill ⌠i donât really like him and maybe it is because iâm not super fond of chris âi have a gun arsenalâ pratt but tbh i just think they portray quill as a dick who can be misogynistic and a has a very delicate ego. His changed backstory was meh which i can live with but he is so fragile with his masculinity and it demeans gamora. I do like gamora and peter together but it would be so much better if he wasnât always trying to be better than her or got offended anytime she was smarter or a better fighter than him (which is always sooo). Then mantis was done dirty she should not be some slave to a weird planet man ?? i think pom is a wonderful mantis but she was given crap to work with because mantis is a celestial being like an actual GODDESS  so why is she working for a planet ??? and drax ugh he is not an idiot like mcu portrays him iâm so bitter about that
I understand why scott lang was chosen to be ant man over hank pym i mean if paul rudd was going to be scott it makes perfect sense. Hank is also just ⌠i donât quite know how to describe hank other than controversial i guess but thatâs another story, and scott would come off waaaaay better to audiences as ant man, the thing i am just so mad about is the fact that janet was practically erased from the avengers. I mean please donât get me wrong i love hope van dyne and a young janet shouldnât be falling in love with scott, but i just wish they could have at least included the REAL janet, not michelle pfiefer (no offense to michelle either because sheâs doing great with what sheâs given) being an old knock off janet, and not even like her own movie (which would be fucking fantastic though) but like janet gave so much of her life to the avengers and was a founding member. A FOUNDING MEMBER. And her purpose in the mcu was basically just to give hank manpain like whyyyyyyyyyy
And CLINT! God clint barton was screwed over, comics clint is amazing and is 80% deaf (he has a frickin hearing aid!!) and loves dogs and coffee and pizza and i could even handle jeremy renner being this version of clint, i donât really have a problem with jeremy but i hate that marvel just made him be lokiâs slave for awhile then just randomly give him a family AHA PUH LEASE MARVEL clint barton is a hoe (okay not really a hoe but he has been romantically involved with many of the super ladies) he would not have some secret family also with someone not in the same business as him, and also clint is a survivor of abuse and represents someone with a disability and mcu took all of that away from him ughhh
Okay and spider-man ⌠i think smhc was a great movie and tom is so cute and pure and an amazing peter parker but ⌠why? Like why were we given a THIRD peter parker when we could have fucking had miles morales ?! for those of you who donât know miles morlaes, he is black and is spiderman in a different universe (the ultimate universe) and so i mean marvel come on if youâre going to put in a new spiderman why couldnât it be miles? And i mean this with no offense to tom but i just wish we couldâve had a poc lead sooner and now we get into the spiderverse as the introduction to miles which also donât get me wrong, i am very excited about that movie but to me it just seems like we wonât have a great shot at getting miles in the mcu if they do a series of new animated films about the spiderverse
And doctor strange ugh the whitewashing just ugh and then stephen too like idk benedict cumberbatch is an amazing actor but stephen was made so arrogantly in mcu and he comes off as this hotshot doctor who did it for money and to show off how amazing he is but he actually became a doctor because he witnessed his sisterâs death and then soon after his mother died
And then the whitewashing of the ancient one jesusssss the ancient one is not some eccentric white woman, the ancient one is an asian man ⌠i could even understand making the character a woman as the only other female character would be rachel mcadamsâs character (she was so unimportant i donât even know her name whoops) but do not take away the asian identity !!
And iron fist man ⌠it just sucked, thereâs really not much more to say
Then elektra fucking natchios was done SO DIRTY elodie yung is the absolute best elektra, i canât imagine anyone else playing her and she did so well for the shit she was given but they decided to take a route that made her a sociopath ?? i mean i am okay with the changed backstory but elektra just doesnât go around killing people for the fun of it like she does it because she has been through a lot and wants to take bad people out of the world like the ones that killed her father and yes maybe she is a little misguided and lost but still she doesnât think killing people is a fun thing to do on a saturday night like why marvel ?? and just the black sky thing was weird ⌠never a thing in the comics but whatever
And also okay ⌠i love peggy carter and i loved hayley atwell being peggy but sharon is ultimately capâs main love interest and is the main woman in all of capâs storylines. And sharon was set up SO well but because stucky fans are ruthless sharon doesnât even exist anymore and iâm so bitter about that, emily vancamp was a great agent 13 and marvel actually did a great job of bringing her into the universe in catws but look what happened, everyone forgot about her and are obsessed with peggy instead ⌠which as i said, iâm not trying to diss peggy or hayley because i loved agent carter and her in catfa, but everyone decided sharon was nothing compared to peggy and i just donât see why we canât have both ??
Another thing ⌠why vision? Like why the heck was vision put into the mcu it really doesnât make sense to me i mean i think paul bettany is great but he just .. why this weird robot? iâm guessing to bring more in about the infinity stones but still idk because that didnât really happen ??
And rhodey ⌠poor poor rhodey, the casting change was actually a pretty good idea because i think don cheadle is the perfect rhodey (with no offense to terrence howardâs version, i just think don cheadle shouldâve been there from the start) but they didnât really introduce him into becoming war machine at all, they just gave him a suit and were like boom youâre a superhero now go be an avenger ?? with barely any development to why ?? i demand a war machine solo movie please, we all damn well know don cheadle would be great and ryan coogler should direct it, weâll have no tony (no offense to tony just no more white men) and weâll get sam in there and they will be a fucking badass team
And i am so bitter that it took 10 FUCKING YEARS to not have a white male lead a movie ⌠marvel you have so many amazing characters of so many different ethnicities and backgrounds and genders and sexualities like why is carol only coming in now and why did black panther just become a huge movie?! shouldâve been there from the start ugh
In my eyes, the only flawless mcu pieces that i would never bash are thor: ragnarok, and black panther (and maybe runaways because we finally got our first canon lgbtq couple) and catws if scar jo wasnât in it. Marvel needs to realize the success of these films, that taika waititi and ryan coogler are the best directors they have and should be directing more films *cough cough* GUARDIANS 3 *cough*
So wow ⌠thatâs a lot and itâs a lot of bashing marvel but i just ⌠if you donât know shit about the comics the mcu seems amazing like i was there once i didnât start reading comics until a few years ago when i heard about the young avengers and i have loved the movies since iron man came out ten years ago, but the mcu is very corrupting of a lot of the best parts of these characters, and a lot of people donât realize that
Thanks for letting me rant and as i have said i really donât mean to offend anyone who is a fan of the mcu or (most of) the actors of the mcu because theyâre just doing their job, so please realize a lot of this is my opinion, iâm just expressing how i feel about marvel and for the record, i do love the mcu i just donât like a lot of what goes on behind the scenes.
#anon#answered#so yeah i know i kind of bashed a lot of peoples faves#but its more marvel's fault than the actual character/actor#sorry kinda not sorry

i actually completely agree with you! i think iron widow definitely suffers from amazing concept bad execution syndrome, the world itself is so interesting, and so are the characters, but the major points the book is about falls flat. for example i don't think any of the relationships were well fleshed out, nor was the polyam actually like. substantial or well done.
my favorite part is when zetien is talking about the iron ladies and her opinions on them which reads like internal misogyny and the story suddenly switches into "all of us women have been left out to die and told it is because we are lesser when the chairs make us so". like. really out of left field with no real development.
i think if iron widow was written in the way, for example, the baru cormorant series is, i would enjoy it a lot more. i think the relationships, worldbuilding, and zetien's character both from the narrative view and just her arc throughout the book would benefit from more mature writing + slower paced story.
but i do think it is VERY cool a book like this exists conceptually in y/a! like despite its many flaws i think it's nice that books like this are getting written for a younger audience outside of adult sff, ya know?
so sorry that this ask got so long!! i like rambling about books too much :/ thank u for sharing! â one of the iron widow anons <3
You bring up a bunch of good points here! I will give the author and their team credit where credit is due because the fact that Iron Widow got published is bonkers tbh-- and that's not a knock on the quality, or a knock at all-- it's that the concept is such a banger and far out of left field, and full of risks. YA Scifi has been reportedly a tough market to break into specifically for a while now, and chock in an absolutely non-western story and a poly relationship, and it's a goddamn shocker and a half and a miracle as well that it got published to such attention and success. I'm glad it exists for that merit at least.
Don't worry about the ask either jghfkgf, I love rambling about this stuff as well. Fortunately I've got a live-in platonic partner to unload all my grievances on but it's good to be on here talking about it too <33
#i agree with all of this really#it could have been something amazing#and for some folks it was! but not for me#asks#anonymous#anon
