Hey, I have a question for you. What was that "Great Purge" you mentioned and why did CN decide not to keep any pre-2010 materials?

The "Great Purge" was just my cheeky way of saying "That time CN fired everyone in order to afford Andrew W.K."

And (little known fact) most materials from any given production are shipped off to a salt mine known as "Iron Mountain" when the series wraps. Unless someone snags it or misses it, every original storyboard, script, model, painting, and archival print ends up there. Basically, if it's physical, it goes to Iron Mountain to be "stored". I've asked if it's possible to get things back from Iron Mountain and I've been told, "Yeah, I think so. But it's a big hassle and nobody wants to go through that." Essentially, it's a media graveyard.

In more modern times where everything is digital, I assume that the studios themselves keep an archive.

Unless you're CN, and then you apparently wipe your servers to make room for all the new hawtness.
