Look Back At Anger
Kenneth Anger at Sprüth Magers
In Kenneth Anger’s trippy visual universe, the moving image is the purest sorcery, the artist’s ultimate “magical weapon” that can be employed to seduce and corrupt. His pioneering works are giddily symbolic, ritually exploring images of the occult and Aleister Crowley’s magical  deities alongside the trappings of pop culture—for Anger, an equally insidious universal force. From February 19th at Sprüth Magers, London, Anger will be showing films (including Lucifer Rising and Invocation of My Demon Brother) as well as the light installation Hollywood Babylon, named after his gossip-mongering 1965 book, which was banned ten days after publication.February 15, 2010
Invocation of My Demon Brother (1969) is an 11-minute film photographed, directed and edited by Kenneth Anger.

Born on this day: Anton LaVey (11 April 1930 – 29 October 1997), founder of The Church of Satan, author of The Satanic Bible and the man who shamelessly melded show business and publicity stunts with devil worshiping. Here’s “The Black Pope” as he appeared in the 1969 Kenneth Anger short film Invocation of My Demon Brother. LaVey’s friendship with doomed sex kitten-gone-berserk Jayne Mansfield is explored in Mansfield 66/67, the delirious and lurid 2017 fever dream / documentary by Todd Hughes and P David Ebersole.

The Weekly Gravy #140
I’m not sure how they got most of the characters right but got Robin himself so wrong. Robin Hood (1973) – *** I know I’d seen Robin Hood as a child, but very little of it felt familiar this time around. Maybe I didn’t see it that many times. Or maybe it’s just not that memorable of a film. I know it has its defenders – and not just among the furry community – and I’d definitely put it above…

Born on this day: Anton LaVey (11 April 1930 – 29 October 1997), founder of The Church of Satan, musician, author of The Satanic Bible and the man who shamelessly melded Vegas-style show business and publicity stunts with devil worshiping.
