Yeah it was! And then before that idk if they showed it but she had gone through several other interrviews where she was being asked dumb surface level questions like ‘ when you see this dj name, what’s the first word you think of’ ‘ what’s your favorite color’ and then she got to that interview and it’s like, finally someone is asking some pretty decent questions but then they’re not even listening to what she’s saying or caring about it

i hate it because selena is so insightful and thoughtful and gentle :( she deserves the best

i saw other things he did, other interrviews he attended and other discussions he took part in.

i couldve been him if i couldve been braver. i am brave now. i wont back down now.

he is profound effortlessly and at the same time very homey. i want to say hes like me frr but so many people say that, that i am afraid to say that but you know, i dont care anymore. i am like him frr. i just need to be braver but not over confident. i struggle at both, this edge of knife i slipped a lot of times and hurt myself a lot of times.

How @fuckingconversations describes their ADHD really fits how I have experienced my life so far.

The thing is, I only recently got diagnosed as autistic and reading around online others seem to have had their assessments try to exclude other diagnosis such as ADHD to determine that autism was the correct diagnosis, but my assessment didn’t seem to be looking for anything else. I filled out some questionnaires specific to diagnosing autism and did a face to face interrview, then was sent to a follow up because of my pre-existing bipolar disorder diagnosis to check if they felt that that was still valid, or if my symptoms were better explained, or explained enough by just one diagnosis. And they decided both were still valid. They never once looked for anything to do with ADHD.

I’m worried that if I try to mention it to anyone, it’ll just be seen as me trying to get more diagnosis or something, rather than just trying to get answers. Part of me has been wondering if my bipolar disorder diagnosis is entirely correct because when I first went to be diagnosed, the psychiatrist didn’t want to call it anything other than cyclothymia (which is like bipolar-lite) but that didn’t explain the severity of my issues and certainly couldn’t fit with psychosis since experiencing psychosis immediately tips the diagnosis to bipolar disorder type 1. But then more recently I’m discovering that it can be possible to experience psychosis as part of autism (partly why so many people got misdiagnosed as schizophrenic when they were really autistic). And most of my depression has somehow been the result of feeling abandoned and rejected or unwanted. And ADHD has this pretty big Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria thing going on.

So it could be that I actually have Autism and ADHD and they looked like Bipolar Disorder. Or it could be possible that I have all three. They do all share remarkable similarities when you get to the genetic level and look and the brain structure and so on.

But it makes me wonder because what if meds for ADHD would actually help me? Nothing I took for Bipolar Disorder helped me, I just had bad reactions to the meds because I’m super sensitive to pretty much everything. Whilst they did take some of the edge of the mania, I was left having zero ability to do anything because I don’t know how to do anything. Not without stupidly detailed lists (including lists for the lists) and super tight deadlines and I realised that I can deal with a bit of mood fluctuation if only I could control the executive dysfunction.

I mean executive functioning issues are present in all three, so its pretty hard to work out what might be causing it, or if everything is simultaneously causing me problems. And when you add on the cPTSD from childhood trauma which itself can result in odd executive dysfunctions (often related to specific trauma) then its a massive mess.

Does anyone who has ADHD and was diagnosed as an adult got any suggestions about if I could figure it out myself? Or if there’s anything I could self medicate with which might have mild effects similar to the meds so that if that works on me, I maybe could see about trying to reach out about the possibility of ADHD? I dunno.

CBC made a good documentary on adult ADHD and part of it really caught me off guard because i swear they repeated verbatim my life story for the past 3 years
