Made Another Poster Frame

Bought second hand poster board and wooden half dowels, used leftover wood stain and a saw blade, and stole some leftover Modge Podge from my mom. Put it all together to make a custom frame for the incredibly irregularly sized poster that I found in my parents' basement.
The (fake) mantle is still a work in progress.

Armchair
c.1875-1876
Pottier and Stymus Manufacturing Company
This armchair, along with a matching side chair and cabinet, was made for Pottier and Stymus’ display at the 1876 Centennial International Exhibition in Philadelphia. This seminal event offered unprecedented exposure to potential patrons and sparked the nation’s preference for the Aesthetic style. Founding partner Auguste Pottier then donated the pieces to the Metropolitan Museum as examples of distinguished contemporary craftsmanship.
During the late 1870s and early 1880s, New York City emerged as the center for the production of luxury furniture, interior woodwork, and decoration. Companies including George A. Schastey & Co., Herter Brothers, Pottier and Stymus Manufacturing Company, and Herts Brothers flourished during this period of unparalleled financial growth. With showrooms and manufactories located in the city’s thriving commercial district at Union Square, they received commissions from wealthy financiers and railroad magnates in New York City and across the country for custom-made furnishings. These full-service firms depended on the skills of highly trained émigré craftsmen, many of whom had fled political strife and economic hardship in regions that compose modern-day France and Germany.

⊹₊⟡⋆ nuno gallego + he/him ⊹₊⟡⋆ blasting i am a god by kanye west through their airpods is preston pruitt. oh , you don’t know them ? they’re the 23 year old ceo who just went viral for dumping a lukewarm cup of coffee on an intern (allegedly!!!). yup , the one that drives a rolls royce phantom . i hear they’re pretty diligent, but others have claimed that they’re quite volatile. that makes sense , considering they’re often labeled as the green-eyed monster.
stats:
full name: preston reginald pruitt
nicknames: prefers preston or mr. pruitt, will probably be snippy about it if anyone he's not especially close to tries anything else with him
gender: cis man
pronouns: he/him
sexuality: bisexual, biromantic
age: 23
date of birth: june 10th, 2001
zodiac sign: gemini
height: 5'8"
occupation: nepo baby ceo of pruitt yacht sales
interests: interior design, mixology, watching old game shows (a pastime shared with his favorite nanny growing up), perfectly tailored suits, getting his way
visual inspo:
pinterest board: https://www.pinterest.com/aron_piper/oc-preston/ home: the styling of his mansion is very much this kind of vibe (i'm not too sure on exactly what the homes they live in here look like, but the decorating of his would be very similar to this) office: similar sort of look to the styling of his home, something along these lines. as mentioned above, he has an affinity for interior design, and would have worked closely with a decorator to get everything to his standards - regardless of the cost.
resembles:
scar (lion king), patrick bateman (american psycho), regina george (mean girls), hunter clarington (glee), dennis reynolds (it’s always sunny in philadelphia), light yagami (death note), sebastian valmont (cruel intentions), stewie griffin (family guy), plankton (spongebob), tashi duncan (challengers), lucille bluth (arrested development)
mini bio: tw - drug addiction of a family member
for as long as he can remember, preston has lived in the shadow of his older brother, playing second fiddle to a man, who, in his opinion, was totally incompetent, too focused on the dollar bill at the end of his nose to properly run the prestigious corporation that is pruitt yacht sales. despite it not being his birthright, preston believed he was the one destined to take over, going so far as to graduate from yale with a business degree to make sure he’d be ready – as well as sabotaging his brother’s newfound sobriety the night before his father was due to announce who would be taking over the company post his upcoming retirement. finally, he’s at the top, where he belongs, in charge of a multimillion dollar company, with little care for who he had to step on to get there.
family:
ward pruitt (father)
sabine pruitt (mother)
pierce pruitt (older brother, age 29)
peter pruitt (younger brother, age 17)
paisley pruitt (younger sister, age 16)
wanted connections:
older brother (m) - they've never been particularly close, but i'm assuming things would have only gotten worse after preston stole his ceo title (regardless of whether or not the brother actually knows the reasoning behind it yet)
ride or die (m/f/nb) - best friend, lowkey would love a sebastian/kathryn from cruel intentions kind of vibe (fully platonic or otherwise) but definitely open to other dynamics for sure!
frat brother (m) - he went to yale university; i don't have any sort of specific/actually existing fraternity in mind, it would just be a fictional one, definitely snobby, old money, legacy vibes (ik the odds of another muse already in play here having also attended yale/at the same time as preston/& could be in the same frat as him are pretty low so i'll most likely be sending a wanted connection into the main for this one, but just in case anyone was already thinking about bringing in another muse or hasn't fully fleshed out your character's educational backstory just yet, i figured i'd put this here!)
& friends with benefits, hookups (as in, fwb without the friendship), friends in general, family friends, exes, cousins, gym buddies, clients (those he's done business with in the past / potentially an influencer who has some sort of ongoing deal with the company?), next-door neighbor, rivals, enemies, ex-friends, one night-stand gone wrong, unknown half-sibling, younger siblings (down for changing their ages to make them work as playable muses here!), - all pretty self explanatory, and all open to muses of any gender ! i'm also more than down for filling any connections you guys are seeking / stuff not listed here !
taken connections:
everett finch - frenemies with benefits
imara gill - unlikely friends/drinking buddies
noa barclay - ride or die
sebastian guerra - one-sided (preston's side) rivalry
victoire grimaldi - fake friendship (preston feigns warmth towards her out of fear of pissing off a member of royalty)
wesley levine - ex-friend/one night stand gone wrong
zaire solace - preston takes advantage of his generosity and uses him as a makeshift personal assistant

In a recent Instagram video, Gwen opens her matte black front door to invite the cameras in. Behind her, we see tall white, gold, and blue wallpaper, long pieces of religious art, and a massive crystal chandelier. The space is maximalist and fun. It perfectly exemplifies an artful blend of antique and contemporary details in an entryway.
Interior designer Jove Meyer says this entryway is a classic example of the contemporary California maximalist design. He states that this type of design ‘works well as it encourages a more is more lens, more pattern, more art, more texture, and more layers, in fact, the more the merrier!’ He goes on to say: ‘The benefit of maximalism is that it allows for the space to be extra and encourages it to not be locked into one style, but a blend of many which makes the magic of maximalism come to life! With maximalist design, you can be initially overwhelmed visually but it is exciting as you're constantly discovering new details and designs as your eyes adjust to everything happening at once.’
Jennifer Ebert, deputy editor at Homes & Gardens loves that the maximalist style of this space allows Gwen Stefani to express herself and her interests. ‘The best aspect of the maximalist style is that it allows you to maximize the personality of the space. This type of design leaves room to include the most elements possible of your individual style’ Jennifer says. These elements of personal style are best embodied by the unique art pieces decorating the space.
Jove Meyer says: ‘The first place my eye goes, after the bold wallpaper and oversize chandelier, is the strong old religious art, followed by the modern image of a baby below. The juxtaposition of the art in this space is very notable. My eye doesn't know where to go right away as there is a lot happening in this maximalist entryway which blends old and new, contemporary patterns and ancient faith-based art.’

Glass Animal
Mid- 19th centuryArtist/maker unknown, American
This glass animal is a furnishing for a large dollhouse. The dollhouse is built in the style of a cabinet, which is typical of the early nineteenth century, when dollhouses were made primarily for the amusement of adults. Local craftsmen generally made the houses, and the owners decorated the interiors. These pieces often contained precious "toys" or miniatures, sometimes of silver, and therefore they were commonly fitted with a lock and key. It was not until after about 1830 that toy dollhouses for children began to be manufactured and marketed by toy makers.

Privacy Window Films: A Cost-Effective Alternative to Curtains and Blinds
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/2e8a8dd075074fe845c84f89dd261ffb/0a0ce972774b5ee4-63/s540x810/4827e13aed77274f55f3c044a9a339a0dc8fbcac.jpg)
Looking for a stylish and affordable way to add privacy to your home or office? Philadelphia window film offers a fantastic solution. Unlike traditional window treatments like curtains and blinds, privacy window films provide a modern and sleek look while enhancing your space. These films are a great choice whether you need home window tint in Philadelphia or commercial window tint options. By using these films, you can easily upgrade your windows, adding a touch of elegance and functionality to any room.
Benefits of Privacy Window Films:
· Affordability: Unlike curtains or blinds, privacy window films don't require expensive hardware or extensive installation, making them a budget-friendly option.
· Ease of Installation: You can often apply these films yourself or opt for professional installation to ensure a perfect fit. This flexibility allows you to improve your space with minimal effort and time.
· Versatile: Privacy window films are available in various styles and patterns, so you can easily find one that matches your interior décor. They can be used in any room, from living rooms to bathrooms, and even in office spaces. This versatility makes them a practical solution for different privacy needs without compromising on style or function.
· Easy Maintenance: Unlike curtains that need frequent washing or blinds that gather dust, privacy window films require minimal upkeep. A simple wipe with a soft cloth and a non-abrasive cleaner is usually enough to keep them looking good as new.
· Added Layer of Security: Window tints make it harder for potential intruders to see inside, adding an extra layer of protection for your home or office. This added security can give you peace of mind, knowing that your space is both private and secure.
Types of Privacy Window Films:
When choosing privacy window films, you'll find a broad range of styles to suit any home décor.
· Frosted Films: Frosted films are popular for their simple, clean look, perfect for bathrooms or offices. If you like a bit more design, etched films add a stylish touch without being overwhelming.
· Decorative Films: For a more decorative approach, patterned films come in various designs, from geometric shapes to floral motifs, giving you plenty of options to match your taste.
· Commercial Window Films: For businesses, commercial window tint in Philadelphia provides specialized options tailored to professional settings. These films not only ensure privacy but also enhance the overall appearance of your workspace. They can help create a polished, professional look that reflects well on your business.
· Reflective Films: There are also mirror and reflective films that offer excellent daytime privacy. These films allow you to see outside while preventing others from seeing in, making them ideal for street-level windows or offices with a lot of foot traffic.
Search “Window tinting near me” online to explore the options and pick your preference.
Energy Efficiency and UV Protection:
Privacy window films also offer great energy efficiency benefits.
· Reduced Energy Bills: By cutting down on the heat that comes through your windows, these films can help keep your home or office cooler during the hot summer months. This can lead to significant savings on your energy bills, as your air conditioning system won’t have to work as hard. In the winter, these films help to retain heat, making your space more comfortable and reducing heating costs.
· UV Protection: Privacy window films provide excellent UV protection. Harmful UV rays can cause your furniture, carpets, and artwork to fade over time. By blocking a large percentage of these rays, privacy window films help preserve the quality and color of your interior furnishings. This protection extends to your skin as well, reducing exposure to harmful UV radiation that can contribute to skin damage and other health issues.
Maintenance of Privacy Window Films:
Taking care of the best window tint in Philadelphia PA is easy and quick. Here are some tips:
· To keep them looking great, simply clean them occasionally. Use a soft cloth and a mild, non-abrasive cleaner. Avoid harsh chemicals, as they can damage the film. A simple mixture of water and a small amount of dish soap works well.
· When cleaning, gently wipe the surface to avoid scratching. It’s best to avoid scrubbing too hard. For any stubborn spots, let the soapy water sit for a minute before wiping it away.
· If you notice any edges starting to peel, it’s important to address them promptly. Lightly press the edges back down to ensure they stick properly.
· It's also wise to be mindful of any sharp objects near your windows. Items like keys or pets’ claws can scratch or tear the film, so keep them away from the window surface. In high-traffic areas, adding a protective barrier, like a piece of furniture, can help minimize contact.
Closing Thoughts:
Privacy window films provide a practical and stylish alternative for covering your windows. They offer a clean, modern look that can enhance any space, whether it's your home or office. These films are not only cost-effective but also easy to install and maintain, making them a convenient option for everyone. Interested? Talk to our professionals today and we’ll help you out. Creating a home that feels good and supports your well-being doesn’t have to be complicated. At FarStudio in Philadelphia, we’ve got some simple tips to help you design a space that promotes health and happiness.
1. Let in the Light
Natural light can do wonders for your mood and energy levels. Keep your windows clear of heavy curtains and let the sunshine in. If privacy is a concern, opt for sheer curtains or blinds that still allow light to filter through.
2. Go Green with Materials
Choose materials that are safe for you and the environment. Look for paints and finishes that are low in VOCs (that’s volatile organic compounds) to keep your indoor air clean. For furniture and flooring, consider natural options like bamboo, cork, or reclaimed wood.

Earlier this year, the contractor completed a complete renovation of a building for its client, Maximus, a 34,000-employee company that provides administrative and other services to federal government programs.

ᅠSmart film, also known as switchable film, is installed on interior glass and has an electrical component that is wired to a light switch. When the switch is on, the film remains clear allowing passersby to see inside. When the switch is off the film becomes opaque, blocking views of the interior and turning the glass into a privacy wall.
Smart films are projectable, meaning they can be used as a display screen for viewing power point presentations, videos and other images.
Commercial Window Shield’s switchable smart film installation project will commence this summer, after most of the renovation work is completed.
The Harvey-Cleary project is another example of Commercial Window Shield’s close working relationship with some of the country’s best-known construction companies. Aside from several, successful window film installation projects with Harvey-Cleary, the company has completed security, solar control, radio frequency [RF], and privacy/decorative window film projects for HITT, Gilbane Building Co., Rand construction, D Watts Construction and Davis Construction.
CWS Expertise
The company’s major focus in its nearly 40 years in business has been security and solar control window film installation. Its clients have included the U.S. Capitol, FBI headquarters, the Pentagon, all House of Representative and Library of Congress buildings, Grand Central Terminal, Merrill Lynch headquarters, the United Nations, the Willis [former Sears] Tower, O’Hare and Seattle international airports, and the Philadelphia and Denver mints.

How to Choose the Perfect Materials for Custom Wardrobe Closets in Philadelphia
Custom wardrobe closets offer a blend of functionality and style, serving as essential storage solutions while enhancing the aesthetics of your space. When it comes to designing these closets, selecting the right materials is crucial. In Philadelphia, where historical charm meets modern sophistication, choosing materials that complement the city's architectural ethos is key. This guide will walk you through the process of selecting the perfect materials for Custom Wardrobe Closets in Philadelphia, considering both practicality and local design sensibilities.
1. Assess Your Needs and Preferences:
Before delving into material choices, it's essential to assess your requirements and preferences. Consider factors such as storage needs, aesthetic preferences, budget constraints, and maintenance requirements. Determine whether you prioritize durability, aesthetics, or a balance of both.
2. Consider Local Design Trends:
Philadelphia boasts a rich architectural heritage characterized by a blend of colonial, Victorian, and contemporary styles. To ensure your custom wardrobe closets harmonize with the local design ethos, familiarize yourself with prevailing design trends in the city. Opting for materials that resonate with Philadelphia's architectural heritage can enhance the visual appeal of your closets.
3. Wood: Timeless Elegance and Warmth
Wood remains a perennial favorite for custom wardrobe closets, exuding timeless elegance and warmth. In Philadelphia, where historic wooden architecture abounds, incorporating wood into your closets can create a seamless integration with the city's aesthetic. Opt for hardwoods like oak, maple, or cherry for durability and aesthetic appeal. Consider finishes that complement your interior design scheme, whether it's a classic stain or a contemporary matte finish.
4. MDF (Medium-Density Fiberboard): Affordability and Versatility
For those seeking a more budget-friendly option without compromising on aesthetics, Medium-Density Fiberboard (MDF) presents an excellent choice. MDF offers affordability, versatility, and a smooth, uniform surface ideal for painting or laminating. In Philadelphia's urban landscape, where modern living spaces often blend with historical elements, MDF can adapt to various design styles, making it a versatile material for custom wardrobe closets.
5. Metal Accents: Industrial Chic
Incorporating metal accents into your custom wardrobe closets can infuse an industrial-chic vibe reminiscent of Philadelphia's urban landscape. Opt for sleek metal handles, knobs, or decorative elements to add a touch of modernity to your closet design. Additionally, consider using metal frames or accents for glass panels, creating a contemporary yet functional look that aligns with Philadelphia's evolving architectural trends.
6. Glass: Transparency and Sophistication
Glass elements can add a sense of transparency and sophistication to your custom wardrobe closets, reflecting the vibrancy of Philadelphia's urban lifestyle. Choose frosted or textured glass for a touch of privacy while maintaining visual interest. Incorporating glass shelves or cabinet doors can also create an illusion of space, ideal for smaller rooms common in Philadelphia's historic neighborhoods.
7. Sustainable Materials: Eco-Friendly Choices
In a city known for its commitment to sustainability, opting for eco-friendly materials for your custom wardrobe closets aligns with Philadelphia's green ethos. Consider materials such as bamboo, reclaimed wood, or recycled composite boards, which not only reduce environmental impact but also add a unique character to your closets. Sustainable materials resonate with Philadelphia's progressive mindset, reflecting a commitment to responsible living.
8. Customization Options: Tailored Solutions
When choosing materials for custom wardrobe closets in Philadelphia, prioritize customization options that cater to your specific needs and space requirements. Work with experienced designers and craftsmen who can offer personalized solutions tailored to your preferences. Whether it's integrating built-in features, incorporating hidden storage compartments, or optimizing space utilization, customizing your closets ensures they align seamlessly with your lifestyle and the unique character of your Philadelphia home.
Conclusion:
Selecting the perfect materials for custom wardrobe closets in Philadelphia involves a thoughtful consideration of practicality, aesthetics, and local design sensibilities. By assessing your needs, exploring material options, and prioritizing customization, you can create closets that not only meet your storage requirements but also enhance the visual appeal of your home. Whether embracing the warmth of wood, the versatility of MDF, or the contemporary flair of metal and glass, your choice of materials should reflect your personal style while harmonizing with Philadelphia's architectural heritage and urban landscape.
