It had been so long since the both of them had seen each other. Not much later after Emily had left to live with her relatives in San Francisco, Danny had finished high school and left to sail around the world. She took the both and left her mother to settle on the Greek Island, Amorgos, one of the islands they used to go to when she was younger. To Danny, it was probably the best decision in the world to make this solo trip, but she knew with that she had to let go of a lot of things, including eventually Emily. 

She had tried to keep in contact, she really did. But being on open waters for so long made it hard to communicate. When she was finally harbored, it always took her a while to settle and contact people. She was living her life physically and had a hard time keeping up digitally. Their communication fell short and eventually they stopped talking. Danny hated that, but did nothing to change it either.

Years had passed and when Danny finally found San Francisco on her route, she couldn’t leave it. Em had been such an important part of her life, Danny had to see her again. So she went online and did her research. She even messaged someone that seemed to interact with Em on social media a lot. It wasn’t hard to figure out she was a photographer. Danny lured her to Presidio, a national park in San Francisco, close to the palace of fine arts theater. She made sure to be in time, so she could come up from behind. 

Seeing Emily walk there caused some emotions. It was good to see the other again, she’d missed her friend a lot. At the same time Emily didn’t look that good and Danny felt this wave of guilt over her. It was the most bittersweet moment in her life. “Are looking for the palace theater? Because you surely are a piece of art” Danny joked, standing about a meter away from her friend.
