Finding Self-Compassion: My Journey to Healing

Emma is here to share her story with us.

Hi, Infinity State community! I'm Emma, and I wanted to share a bit about my journey with self-compassion. A few years ago, I was stuck in a relentless cycle of self-criticism. Every mistake felt like a disaster, and I held myself to impossible standards. My mental health was suffering—I was anxious, stressed, and exhausted from constantly trying to prove myself. Things started to change when I discovered the concept of self-compassion through a therapy session. My therapist encouraged me to treat myself with the same kindness I showed my friends. It sounded simple, but it was life-changing. I started small: writing down one thing I did well each day and practicing positive self-talk. Gradually, I learned to forgive myself for mistakes and embrace my imperfections as part of being human. Today, I'm not perfect, but I’m kinder to myself. When I face challenges, I remind myself that I'm doing my best and that it's okay to stumble. Self-compassion has transformed my mental health, and I'm grateful for the peace it's brought into my life. Thanks, Infinity State, for being a supportive space where we can all share and grow together.

1. Dreamland - Glass Animals (ethereal & just sounds like how walking through a humid summer day in a prairie field and savanna would feel (biomes that exist in my state </3) the entire album is just. summer.)

2. The Gardener - The Tallest Man on Earth (deceptively sweet sounding. romantic sound and horrifyingly creepy lyrics. summers look nice and can be warm, but droughts, heat strokes, fires, and dangerous storms lurk inside it... this 2010s folk song is so good)

3. Marietta - Upstate (a very fun song with amazing harmonies that feels so much like a road trip!! which is funny bc it's someone singing abt how this guy keeps sending post cards & she doesn't wanna hear it bc he's not serious abt her & is with others girls at every place he sends a card from!! it's so fun!!)

📦 What kind of storage system do you use? (Or describe your storage setup). i either make a fully automated storage system which i end up not using and still organizing it all manually, or i just throw shit into chests that are vaguely catigorized

🚪 Favourite door or trap doors? i really like the crimson door (and crimson wood in general), but u can also never go wrong with spruce

if this helps at all but that pack isnt exactly mod, the only part that's modded is optifine :0 it's super easy to download, all you have to do is drag it into a folder :] if you'd need any help i'd be glad to show you, but i work today so i cant rn

optifine is also very easy to download, when it loads up you just click a button and it does all the work for you. i played unmodded from 2012-2022 because i also didnt know how to use mods 😭

i've heard of optifine but never used it, i must give it a go but i am a laptop player too lol so I don't know how my laptop will handle it (probably fine tehe) I haven't actually played minecraft in a good few months but I'll let you know if I need help with it sometime

How Self-Compassion Changed My Life Hi everyone, I just wanted to share a personal story after reading the recent post on Infinity State about self-compassion. This topic really resonated with me, as it's something I've been working on myself for the past year. A year ago, I was at a low point. I was constantly criticizing myself for not meeting my own expectations, whether it was at work, in relationships, or even my appearance. It felt like nothing I did was ever good enough. This mindset left me feeling stressed and anxious. After stumbling upon a blog post about self-compassion, I decided to give it a try. I started by practicing mindful self-awareness, acknowledging my thoughts and feelings without judgment. Whenever negative self-talk crept in, I would consciously challenge it and replace it with kinder, more supportive words. Gradually, I noticed a shift in my mindset. I began to treat myself with the same kindness and understanding I would offer a friend. This change didn’t happen overnight, but with patience and practice, I became more resilient and positive. Thank you, Infinity State, for reminding me of the importance of self-compassion. It's truly been a transformative journey! -Alex
