Essentials of Setting up a Business Computer Network
Setting up a computer network for small-to-mid-sized businesses requires extensive planning. Business computer networks link two or more computers so that they can communicate with each other and share information.
Computer networks must remain robust and secure since they support wide-ranging equipment, devices, software, and applications that drive functions ranging from budgeting and inventory management to sales and marketing. The network spans laptops, phones, and printers and connects to internal or external servers that provide needed bandwidth for hosting and distributing data in real time.
Organizations can pick from two basic types of business networks: the local area network (LAN) and the vast area network (WAN). LAN networks use wifi or network cables. It connects devices within a limited geographic footprint, such as a building or office space, and relies on on-site servers. By contrast, WAN setups host network resources off-site and accessed on-demand via a cloud platform and provider that offers secure external hosting.
WAN and LAN networks connect devices using a router that links two or more via the Internet and applies to traditional wired and wireless setups. Professionals recommend using business-grade wifi routers since they contain features such as anti-virus software and firewall systems that filter out SPAM. They often allow for the installation of VPN servers that offer encryption capacities as data travels securely across a network. Encryption minimizes vulnerabilities to outside threats, such as hackers and malware. A quality router continues functioning seamlessly through events such as power outages. Organizations can configure them to optimize bandwidth through controlling and prioritizing usage.
Then, network switches support data flow across networks of computers and peripherals. They determine how a network allocates the bandwidth provided through an internet connection. Switches are programmable via web interface, CLI (command line interface), or SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol).
Unmanaged switches apply to plug-and-play devices that communicate freely with each other in shared spaces that host personnel and visitors, such as conference rooms, and for shared equipment, such as fax and printing stations. Managed switches provide businesses with ways to control and limit access to data, defining how data flows across a network. They allow the setting of port bandwidths and the creation or modification of local area networks.
Physical cables apply to ports in management protocols. Service providers feature cloud-managed switches for wireless networking that enable remote network access control through a software interface. The wireless local area network (WLAN) defines wifi coverage. It has an access point, which serves as the gateway for users and devices that connect wirelessly to the network.
Business-grade access points have handling capacity designed to accommodate greater traffic flow. Alternatively, coverage range expands through range extenders - though these may slow network speeds and have a limited number of connectable devices.
Many small businesses utilize an underlying wired network to ensure stable connectivity that underpins their high-speed wireless network. The approach accommodates wired connections with stationary devices such as cameras and printers, which fees up wireless bandwidth for wireless-dependent devices such as phones and laptops. Therefore, organizations can use both instead of picking between cable and wireless network environments.
Lastly, pick the right cables. Cables provide sufficient bandwidth to access points and deliver a fast wireless network. Know current cable standards, as with CAT6 for LAN wiring, when picking cables. In addition, ensure that two cables running to each wireless access point have enough capacity. It will accommodate evolving industry standards and allow for extra wired bandwidth as the business grows.

Everything You Need to Know About RF Shield Box
If you’re considering investing in an RF shield box, it is vital to know everything there is to know about it first.
For the uninitiated, RF is short for Radio Frequency Shield Box. It helps to block or restrict electromagnetic (EM) or radio frequency (RF) interference.
As you may already know, radio frequency has become omnipresent in this digital age. So it is critically important to protect computers and other types of electronic devices from radio frequency waves.
If you fail to restrict radio frequency interference, it can affect the performance as well as the functionality of electronic devices. And this is the part where RF shield boxes come into play.
Today, there are plenty of use cases for an RF shield box.
In this blog, we’ve explained which materials are used in RF shield boxes, their types, costs, and how to uplift their effectiveness, should you decide to buy one.
What is RF Shield Box Used For?
RF shield boxes can come in variety of forms, materials, and manufacturing methods. This is because RF shield boxes have a wide range of applications across various industries.
For starters, RF shield boxes can be used for many different purposes including automotive multimedia tests, wireless semiconductor tests, mobile telephone tests, WLAN/Bluetooth/WiMax tests, cellular network tests, and even base station transceiver tests.
Which Material is Used for Manufacturing RF Shield Box?
RF shield boxes are generally manufactured using three different types of metals:
⦁ Copper
⦁ Aluminium
⦁ Steel
The aluminum material is typically used in the form of foil to prevent low-frequency radio field waves.
The steel-based material, on the other hand, is used for different processes including cold rolling, hot rolling, annealing of material, etc., which can have an incredible effect on shielding capabilities.
The copper-based RF shield boxes not only have high conductivity but also provide greater resistance to oxidation & corrosion.
So if you’re looking for an ideal RF shield box for outdoor environments, copper would be the right material choice.
However, knowing the materials used for RF shield box manufacturing is not enough to make the right decision. You also need to know about the different types of RF shield boxes available in the market.

Wi-Fi 7: The Biggest Threat to 5G?
Wi-Fi 7 boasts increased data throughput and reduced latency, bringing it closer to the capabilities of 5G. Given its impressive performance, one might wonder if Wi-Fi 7 will replace the equally powerful 5G technology.
In fact, Wi-Fi 7 and 5G serve different market applications and complement each other rather than compete. These two technologies are expected to coexist in the long term, offering users a choice rather than a mutually exclusive selection.
The primary objective of Wi-Fi 7 is to provide wireless broadband access within fixed indoor areas. It does not address the issue of mobile device handover between different domains. Typical applications of Wi-Fi 7 include WLAN networks in shopping malls, airports, theaters, sports stadiums, and factories. It is especially well-suited for delivering high-speed, low-cost access solutions to home broadband networks for the general public. On the other hand, 5G/6G technologies aim to solve the wireless broadband access problem in mobile scenarios. Future 6G networks will find applications in areas like smart factories, intelligent mines, low-latency and high-bandwidth services for metaverses and virtual reality, high-bandwidth access for high-speed transportation such as trains and airplanes, high-density and large-scale device connectivity for the IoT, and ubiquitous interconnection for aviation, aerospace, maritime, and land domains.
Both Wi-Fi 7 and 5G support larger bandwidth, more connected devices, and lower latency. They enhance performance through MIMO technology and wider spectrum bandwidth. Therefore, there is indeed some competition between them. Firstly, Wi-Fi devices divert mobile data traffic away from 5G networks by connecting to fixed networks through wireless routers. Secondly, there is a conflict in spectrum resources. Similar to Wi-Fi 6E, Wi-Fi 7 utilizes the unlicensed 6GHz (5.925GHz-7.125GHz) frequency band, enabling it to achieve a continuous bandwidth of 320 MHz. The problem is that not only the WiFi Alliance wants to use 6 GHz to enhance the performance of next-generation WiFi technology, MNOs are also eyeing this piece of "pie". (Europe, America, and some Asian countries have already opened up some or all of this frequency band for Wi-Fi 6E usage. China has allocated the 6GHz to 5G/6G. )
Wi-Fi 7 and 5G/6G are promising wireless technologies for the future, each with its advantages and disadvantages depending on the application scenario. In simple terms, if you require long-range coverage, high speeds, and seamless mobility, 5G/6G is the best choice. If you need high download speeds and lower power consumption within small spaces like offices or homes, Wi-Fi 7 may be more suitable. So some people think Wi-Fi will never replace 5G. Instead, these technologies will coexist and complement each other based on different scenarios.
While others think that in certain industry applications, due to the high speed and low latency of Wi-Fi 7, coupled with its low cost, it may partially replace some private 5G networks. What's your opinion?
