[ad_1] Hanuma Vihari vs Australia (PC: Hanuma Vihari/X) What was the most standout quality, which helped India win the 2020-21 series that Australia looked like running away with after the first Test? Other than everything else — courage to bounce back, belief in own abilities to attack the opposition, finding the right men for the right moments and a touch of luck — the fightback from 36 all out was also characterised by a steady show of grit. It’s difficult to point at an individual and say that he was the prime inspirational figure. A lot of them contributed and these efforts were not always numerically eye-catching. There were no centuries before or after one by Ajinkya Rahane in the second Test. Mohammed Siraj in the last Test recorded the lone five-wicket haul. Yet, India kept finding something from here, there and everywhere. The least spectacular of these priceless contributions came from Hanuma Vihari. Batting with a torn hamstring, which ruled out running between the wickets, he survived the entire last session with a bruised Ravichandran Ashwin after India had lost five wickets, to save the third Test. It was possibly the gutsiest passage of play seen from Indians in a marquee match overseas. Both missed the last Test, but handed their team a lifeline to win the series. Vihari’s scores in that series before the unbeaten 23 off 161 balls were 16, 8, 21 and 4. But that period of stonewalling against a formidable attack made sure that he will be remembered when people talk about India’s Test heroics in Australia. Even on the previous tour in 2017-18, the middle-order bat was sent out to open in Melbourne and drew the praise of coach Ravi Shastri despite making eight, for sticking around for 66 deliveries. India won that Test. The reason to mention Vihari is the fact that India on this upcoming series in Australia will miss someone like him or Cheteshwar Pujara. In a team of dashers, these two brought balance. They demonstrated the importance of respecting the bowlers and situations. Their methods were different, but no less effective. They helped India save sessions and eventually draw or win matches. These old virtues have no room in the Indian cricket system at the moment. For the Latest Sports News: Click Here Hanuma Vihari in Tests for India (PC: Hanuma Vihari/X) This is not to advocate the inclusion of Pujara or Vihari. Both have not been in the scheme of things and Vihari doesn’t have scores worthy of a recall. He was not part of the Duleep Trophy, where the selectors put together four teams. There is no ground to bring him back, despite his decent-enough figures from 16 Tests, 13 of them abroad. This is just to highlight his silent and unattractive utility that the current crop of India’s Test cricketers lacks. This team lives by the sword. That means there are occasions when they die by it too. This tendency failed spectacularly in the New Zealand series where the Indians showed no signs of having a rethink on the ‘high-risk, high-reward’ policy Gautam Gambhir had spoken about. Nobody looked ready to battle for multiple sessions either, like the chief coach had also mentioned. Captain Rohit Sharma was a prime example of following this formula and failing. There was no Plan B. It’s a thin line between aggression and arrogance. There is nothing wrong with positive approach, because that is the only option for players and teams. Overdoing it looks good when it comes off and totally different when it doesn’t. This becomes glaring if players and teams start doing it blindly instead of opting for caution when the chips are down. This is what this Indian team is not doing. A continuous urge to dominate is leaving too many doors ajar. So far, the team management has made no visible effort to address this. This is where they will miss the likes of Vihari and Pujara. Ability to absorb without throwing the counterpunch at inappropriate moments is what this lot doesn’t possess. It could be a precious shortcoming under pressure.

India vs New Zealand Live Score, 3rd Test Day 1: IND plays for pride against upbeat NZ; Toss at 9am; Bumrah likely to be rested
However, on the eve of the final Test against New Zealand, head coach Gambhir had a different take on the issue. “I’m not going to sugarcoat this. Obviously, it’s hurting, and it’s good that it’s hurting because it should hurt,” Gambhir said.  “Because every time you lose a game – be it at home or be it away from home – it should hurt, and that hurt will make us better. After 150 vs New Zealand, More Good News For Sarfaraz Khan. Images Says It All
India vs New Zealand: With his team in precarious situation, Sarfaraz Khan stepped up and scored his first Test ton
Tumblr media
Sarafaraz Khan was in his elements during the first India vs New Zealand Test in Bengaluru. With his team in precarious situation, Sarfaraz stepped up and scored his first Test ton. With every match, the Mumbai batter is growing in confidence. After his latest century, it is expected that he will get a longer rope in the playing XI. Though India lost the match, there was some good news for the Khan household as Sarfaraz welcomed his baby boy. Meanwhile, expressing his delight after scoring his maiden Test century against New Zealand at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru, India's right-hand batter, Sarfaraz Khan, said he felt like he was 'flying' in the sky. He also recalled how star batter and former RCB teammate Virat Kohli motivated him to back his skills and play his shots freely. "It felt very good. When I was celebrating my century it felt like the grass was blue, not green. It felt like I was in the sky. I was so happy. My dream was to score a hundred for India, and it came true," Sarfaraz Khan said in the video shared by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). "I have watched Virat Kohli since childhood and I always wanted to play with him. That dream came true in RCB, but to play with him in the Indian team, that was special. He kept saying that 'back your shots, play freely' and he gave me a lot of confidence. When someone like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma pat your back and say that you have done well, it is obviously a proud moment," the Mumbai-born cricketer added. Coming to the fourth day of the match, India, who were going great guns in their second innings and were 407-3 at one point, lost seven wickets in less than 60 runs. The dismal performance in the first innings, when they could score only 46 runs, continues to haunt them. Sarfaraz Khan continued his good form and notched up 150. Rishab Pant also made a valuable contribution of 99. News is originally taken from: https://bit.ly/4f7CWsY

India vs Bangladesh T20 Series: Records Were Meant to Be Broken!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The India vs Bangladesh T20 rivalry has always kept cricket fans on the edge of their seats! But this time, things went to a whole new level. The recent series was absolutely epic, with Sanju Samson leading the way in smashing records for Indian cricket.
India’s T20 Dominance 🔥
India has been a beast in T20 International cricket, blending experienced legends like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli with rising stars like Shubman Gill and Sanju Samson. In their recent series against Bangladesh, India didn’t just win—they crushed it, setting one of the highest T20I team scores ever!
Ranked among the top teams in the ICC T20 rankings, India’s performance against Bangladesh shows why they’re a powerhouse in world cricket. They batted like there was no tomorrow, with Samson playing a key role in achieving India’s highest-ever T20I total. 🏏💥
Want more details? Check out this article for a deep dive into India's T20 journey!
Sanju Samson’s Explosive Knock 💣
One of the major highlights of this series? Sanju Samson! He finally lived up to his massive potential by smashing a century in just 40 balls—making it the second-fastest by an Indian in T20 Internationals. His innings was filled with non-stop boundaries and towering sixes. 🙌
Thanks to him, India posted a jaw-dropping total of 297/6, which is now the second-highest team total in T20 International history!
Curious about Sanju Samson? Read his full profile here.
The Biggest T20 Scores
India’s 297/6 against Bangladesh is a monster total, and it’s now the highest score ever made by a full-member nation in T20 Internationals. Not far from the world record held by Nepal (314/3 against Mongolia), India’s score shows their unbeatable batting depth.
Other crazy-high T20 scores include:
Nepal 314/3 vs Mongolia (Asian Games 2023)
Australia 263/3 vs Sri Lanka (Pallekele 2016)
England 241/3 vs New Zealand (Napier 2019)
Love cricket stats? Check out more T20 records here.
Bangladesh’s Struggles 😓
While Bangladesh has shown flashes of brilliance in T20 cricket, they’ve struggled to consistently challenge teams like India. Despite good performances from Litton Das and Shakib Al Hasan, Bangladesh couldn’t put together a team effort strong enough to tackle India’s dominance.
Their bowling lineup, featuring Taskin Ahmed and Mustafizur Rahman, couldn’t hold off India’s aggressive batting, leaving Bangladesh with a lot to work on before their next big encounter.
Check out Bangladesh’s full T20 journey here.
What’s Next for This Rivalry?
The India vs Bangladesh T20 rivalry just keeps heating up. With India dominating this series, Bangladesh will be eager to bounce back in future matches. They’ve got a young and talented squad, so who knows what’s in store?
For India, it’s clear they’re still one of the top teams in the world. With a talent pool this deep, and Sanju Samson now stepping up, India is a team that no one can take lightly!

T20 World Cup: SA face WI in potential quarter-final; draw to play a big role in India vs NZ.
Tournament form guide: South Africa and West Indies lost both their warm-up games in the lead-up to the tournament, although South Africa's losses were more surprising. They were bowled out for 92 against New Zealand to lose by eight wickets and then couldn't get close to their target of 145 against India. West Indies' losses came against teams ranked much higher than them. They first lost to India by 20 runs and then to Australia by 35 runs, on both occasions struggling to chase down totals in the 140s.
News brief: South Africa finished as the runners-up in the 2023 T20 World Cup and will be looking to carry their form into this tournament after a 2-1 away series win against Pakistan. Despite a poor 7-14 win-loss record against West Indies, South Africa have won three of their last four T20Is against them. West Indies, too, came on the back of a 2-1 series win in Sri Lanka, although that was back in June. South Africa could go spin heavy by picking 18-year-old leg spinner Seshnie Naidu along with all rounders Chloe Tryon and Sune Luus. It's expected to be a hot afternoon in Dubai, with the temperature around 37°C at the time of the toss. It won't be much cooler even when the game ends.

[ad_1] India against New Zealand in the 2nd Test (PC: BCCI) Atreyo Mukhopadhyay in Pune Indians live in hope. Whatever the odds, they think that the cricket team can surmount them. Even after Rohit Sharma’s boys got bowled out for 46 in the first innings of the first Test, fans believed something was possible. It’s no different in the second Test. Despite New Zealand taking a lead of 301 runs with five wickets standing, the Blue Army thinks this can be overturned. For hope, a lot of people are looking back to the India-England Test in Chennai in 2008. Trailing by 75 runs in the first innings and being set a target of 387 in the fourth essay, the hosts scripted one of the most remarkable Test wins of that decade. Against New Zealand in the second Test, India might have to chase something like that to square the series. So, if Chennai was possible, why not Pune? Nothing logically wrong with this thought, but practically, it looks like a distant dream. Yes, India did make 462 in the second innings in Bengaluru after 46 all out. They still lost the match. And, this Indian batting line-up is not what that team of 2008 was made of. To think that they will chase down 300-plus on a turning track is a bit too much. Gautam Gambhir had played a part in that memorable chase by making 66 and sharing an opening stand of 117 with Virender Sehwag, who was named Player of the Match for scoring a 68-ball 83. Sachin Tendulkar cracked an unbeaten 103 and Yuvraj Singh remained not out on 85. Rahul Dravid, VVS Laxman and MS Dhoni were the other members of that batting line-up. With due respect to the current set of players, they are not what that team was. That was the golden generation of India’s batting. This one is good, but there is a gulf in temperament between this bunch and that one. It’s not anybody’s fault. Cricket has changed and so has the thought pattern of the batters. For the Latest Sports News: Click Here Team India vs New Zealand in the 2nd Test (PC: BCCI/X) Gambhir, the coach now, is at best a passive link between these two generations. He can only watch and not bat for 11 hours to save a Test, like he did in New Zealand in 2008. He has said that this team can make 400-plus in a day and also bat for two days to draw a game if need be. It sounds great, but there is no reason to believe that players of today’s age can do that. Take for example the Indian first innings in the ongoing Test. Although not spiteful, the pitch assisted spin. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill made a decent start on Day 2 before calamity hit India. Some of the shots were inexplicable. Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant and Sarfaraz Khan all displayed imprudence in execution. That was unbecoming of Test-class batters. They believe in a high-risk and high-reward principle. When it comes off, it looks fantastic. But because the risk element is so high, the probability of this philosophy paying dividends is exponentially less. Miracles may happen. Can one depend on miracles? That explains why the task confronting the Indians at the moment is so daunting and almost impossible. This is why it seems that making a match of this one is beyond India’s reach. The ball is stopping, gripping and turning. The odd one has kept low. Under the circumstances, Chennai 2008 is unlikely. This is more like Pune 2017, when Australia inflicted a heavy defeat on the hosts on a turning track after making 260 in the first innings. This time, New Zealand’s first-innings total was 259. The difference is, India had won that series in 2017 by a margin of 2-1. This time, another New Zealand win will result in India’s first home series loss after 2012. It will end a run of 18 consecutive series wins. More importantly, it will serve as a wake-up call just before a marquee five-Test tour of Australia coming up soon after this one.
