Who did India vote for? Result of 2024 Lok Sabha election today
Will the BJP-led NDA return to power for a third term? Will the opposition parties, united under a front called INDIA, manage to give a tough fight to PM Modi? And will this election spring any new surprises? All questions will be answered tomorrow as the Election Commission announces the result of the Lok Sabha election 2024.
Months of preparation and weeks of on-ground campaigning will see its final outcome on Tuesday.
The counting will start at 8 am. The count of postal ballots will start first across all counting centres. After half-an-hour of the start of the postal ballot count, the counting of votes recorded in the electronic voting machines will commence, the Election Commission said.
The order of counting will be: the postal ballot count, and then the EVM count, and finally the matching of VVPT slips with EVM results.
TIMELINE OF 2024 LOK SABHA POLLS
The 2024 Lok Sabha elections spanned seven phases: April 19, April 26, May 7, May 13, May 20, May 25, and June 1. Twenty states including Delhi voted in a single-phase.
Maharashtra and Jammu and Kashmir polled in 5 phases, while Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and West Bengal voted in all seven phases of voting. Polling in Karnataka, Rajasthan, Tripura, and Manipur were held in two phases. Chhattisgarh and Assam saw 3 phases of voting, and Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, and Jharkhand had 4 phases of polling.
As per a report by PRS Legislative Research, 8,360 candidates from 744 parties, including six nationally recognised parties, contested elections across 543 constituencies.
POLITICAL PARTIES’ PREDICTION vs EXIT POLLS
The INDIA bloc leaders expressed confidence in securing the majority. After the seventh and final phase of polling ended on June 1, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge confidently said, “INDIA bloc will win at least 295 seats.”
However, the India Today-Axis My India exit poll, as well as several other exit polls, suggested a third term for the BJP-led NDA. The exit polls predict that the BJP, which has been loud with its ‘400 paar’ slogan, might just finish near the mammoth number.
A poll of five exit polls, including India Today-Axis My India poll, suggests that the BJP-led NDA is likely to win 379 seats. The INDIA bloc, with the Congress as the main constituent, is likely to get 136 seats in the 2024 Lok Sabha election.

Disappointed at exit polls that have projected another term for Aam Aadmi Party’s Arvind Kejriwal, Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party chief Manoj Tiwari tweeted his rejoinder on Saturday evening to insist that the BJP would form the next government in national capital Delhi with 48 seats.Tiwari’s projection of 48 seats in the 70-member assembly is at least two seat less than what he had predicted after he voted early on Saturday. That is when he spoke about “his sixth sense” that told him that the BJP would edge out Kejriwal and form the government with “at least 50 seats”.But exit polls for the Delhi assembly election that were released as voting came to an end on Saturday evening, projected a clear win for Arvind Kejriwal’s AAP.An election exit poll, not always known to be correct, is a poll of voters taken immediately after they exit the polling stations.Saturday’s exit poll projects, though, differed on the extent of AAP’s win and varied from a minimum of 48 seats for AAP projected by Times Now-IPSOS to a maximum of 68 seats forecast by India Today-Axis.“All these exit polls will fail. दिल्ली विधानसभा चुनाव के लिए शनिवार को मतदान खत्म होने के बाद अब सबको चुनावी नतीजों का इंतजार है. 11 फरवरी तक अब चर्चा राज्य में सरकार किसकी बनेगी, इस पर ही होने वाली है. हालांकि इससे पहले एग्जिट पोल आ गए हैं. इंडिया टुडे और एक्सिस माय इंडिया के एग्जिट पोल के मुताबिक चांदनी चौक लोकसभा क्षेत्र के अंतर्गत आने वाली सभी 10 सीटों पर आम आदमी पार्टी (AAP) क्लीन स्वीप कर सकती है.
एग्जिट पोल के मुताबिक दिल्ली के चांदनी चौक की 10 विधानसभा सीटों में से 9 से 10 सीटों पर आम आदमी पार्टी का कब्जा हो सकता है, जबकि भारतीय जनता पार्टी (बीजेपी) के खाते में एक सीट जाने की उम्मीद है. वहीं, कांग्रेस पार्टी का चांदनी चौक में भी सफाया हो सकता है.
आपको बता दें कि चांदनी चौक लोकसभा क्षेत्र अंतर्गत आदर्श नगर, शालीमार बाग, शकूर बस्ती, त्रिनगर विधानसभा, वज़ीरपुर विधानसभा, मॉडल टाउन, सदर बाज़ार, चांदनी चौक, मटिया महल और बल्लीमारान विधानसभा क्षेत्र आता है.
दिल्ली विधानसभा की कुल 70 सीटों के लिए कड़े सुरक्षा इंतजाम के बीच शनिवार सुबह आठ बजे से शाम 6 बजे तक मतदान हुए. इस दौरान 672 उम्मीदवारों की किस्मत ईवीएम में बंद हो गई. चुनाव के नतीजे 11 फरवरी को आएंगे. दिल्ली में लगभग 1.47 करोड़ मतदाता हैं, जिनमें से 81 लाख 05 हजार 236 पुरुष मतदाता, 66 लाख 80 हजार 277 महिला मतदाता और 869 तीसरे लिंग के मतदाता हैं. दिल्ली में चुनाव के लिए कुल 13,570 मतदान बूथ बनाए गए थे.

आम आदमी पार्टी ने वर्ष 2012 में अपने गठन के बाद से दिल्ली की राजनीतिक तस्वीर को बदलकर रख दिया है. इससे पहले तक राष्ट्रीय राजधानी में चुनाव केवल कांग्रेस और बीजेपी के बीच होते आ रहे थे. वहीं 2013 से विधानसभा चुनाव पूरी तरह से आम आदमी पार्टी के बारे में हो गए हैं.
वर्ष 2013 में हुए विधानसभा चुनाव में कांग्रेस को 24.55 प्रतिशत वोट, बीजेपी को 33.07 प्रतिशत वोट और आम आदमी पार्टी को 29.49 प्रतिशत वोट प्राप्त हुए थे. इसके बाद आप और कांग्रेस पार्टी ने दिल्ली में अरविंद केजरीवाल के नेतृत्व में सरकार बनाई थी, जो केवल 49 दिनों तक चली थी.
वर्ष 2015 में पुन: मतदान में 70 विधानसभा सीटों में से आप ने 67 सीटों पर एकतरफा जीत हासिल की. बाकी तीन स��टों पर बीजेपी और कांग्रेस इस बार अपना खाता भी नहीं खोल सकी. आप का वोट शेयर बढ़कर 54.34 प्रतिशत हो गया.

बीजेपी का वोट शेयर 32.19 के आस पास रहा, जबकि कांग्रेस का वोट शेयर गिरकर 9.65 हो गया.
