I hate the suburbs so much it’s unreal bro
#1) if you got a park near then most people congregate there;#if your suburban house is in a cul de sac then you have the luck of playing out in the streets w/o worry of cars coming at full speed;#ppl invite others to their houses to either play in a game room or backyard; but it’s sO easy to just do nothing and stay inside#2) idk HOA is weird. something something safety???? they don’t allow ppl to do much decoration externally#3) the only public transport is the yellow bus for public school from primary to high school AND carpooling#4) idk what family house means here???? so idk#5) what does mean??? genuinely. the buildings in the suburbs are meant to be built for housing and be lived in#like a suburb is literally just a neighborhood of houses and houses only. if there’s a shop then it’s out of the burbs#and with the strip malls or shopping centers or supermarkets or block of restaurants. tho idk what would make it illegal?#6) this is HOA regulation’s fault i think. you can’t plant a garden in the front yard but can in the back. many choose pool bc of#the increase in property value you’ll get. i do know an old teacher who filled her backyard in wine trees and had to fight the HOA about it#apparently their height was too high and it bothered her neighbors even when it’s her backyard and there are fences#but yeah HOA regulations are weird which is why many ppl don’t or can’t do much to their houses and yard without it being fined or rejected#tidbit#wut

I think the reason conservatives hate environmentalism so much is that all the terminology is too friendly and lame sounding to take seriously. I purpose we change the following terms to get these people on our side.

Global warming -> Property devaluation

For example, saying you're a wilderness cop that drives a lightning machine powered by infinity assets to reduce death clouds and increase your property value sounds 100x more macho than the alternative.

The way the show actually shows us the tense fight with Winklman's gang at Kensal Green, but the book is from Lucy's POV exclusively and at the end they just take piss out of Lockwood about it like "oh is it still three guys you fought off or is it four now?" And Lockwood's like "still three, but should have seen the size of them!!" Is my favorite and most hilarious distinction between what works on screen and what works in a book 😂
the thing is book locky would brag to any clients that he got shot (and survived) while george and lucy would sigh dramatically in the background
#l&co#lockwood and co#lockwood and co netflix#anthony lockwood#jonathan stroud#it would have been impossible to capture the feel of the books in a show#because the books are from Lucy's very subjective and flawed POV#you cant capture that on film so i get why a lot of changes to the characters were made#and lockwood of the books on screen would come off as too callous ans unfeeling#he straight up kills a dude in self defense and doesn't seem to give it a second thought#it's easy to blow past that as a reader and just think its cool because we don't see it#because Lucy doesn't witness it#but if the show had Cameron Chapman straight up stab a man through the gut and pitch him in the river it would be jarring#reading something is very different from seeing something#adaptations are tricky beasts to wrangle#and i find it helpful to view them as separate entities#not adding or contradicting the cannon#just stapling an AU to it#a gazebo to the property that is the source material#may or may not increase the overall value and can be largely ignored
