So what's going on in Sudan? Sudan was under the rule of the military dictator Omar Al-Bashir for thirty years. He came to power through a military coup in June 1989. His rule saw extreme economic decline, repression, and conflict. In the December of 2018, a democratic revolution began that eventually overthrew the dictatorship on April 11, 2019, and saw the beginning of a military rule by militant parties SAF (Sudanese Armed Forces) and RSF (Rapid Support Forces). This unrest is, of course, funded by western governments.

On the 15th of April, 2023, fighting broke out in Khartoum between the SAF and RSF. Clashes spread across the nation of Sudan, and the civilian populace is still caught in the middle. According to UN officials, Sudan is in “one of the worst humanitarian nightmares in recent history."

There is an ongoing war in Sudan, and it's getting worse. There is a health crisis along with the humanitarian crisis as well: around 2/3rds of the population do not have access to healthcare services. Around 15-20 millions suffer from hunger. There are 70 non-operational healthcare facilities in conflict zones. Thousands killed, millions displaced, and a dramatic increase in sexual violence and rape cases.

RWRB 1 (because we can say that now, ahh! 🤭) shot June-August 2022. They filmed reshoots in January 2023.

Reshoots were done in-part because Miguel was recast, and also because Matthew wanted additional footage for some scenes, which isn’t uncommon.

It was this list of scenes in which Nick wears a wig - because he’s filming another project - that inspired this post, and then I was also re-reading some old interviews, and I wanted to put them all in one place!

Nick wears a wig during the reshoots because he was filming Mary & George (He shot Bottoms > RWRB > TIOY > M&G with very few breaks, if any. TIOY wrapped in December 2022, M&G began shooting in January 2023, and the reshoots for RWRB were also in January 2023.)

If there’s a silly!weird thing to know about me when it comes to movies and shows I love, it’s that I will spot an inconsistency like a wig/sudden hair change (hello twilight saga wig fiasco, it’s been over 15 years and I still know all the lore, and think about those fuck ass wigs every time I rewatch those addictive movies 🤪).

Henry and Alex see each other for the first time during the receiving line.

Matthew reveals that their first meeting on-screen was originally going to be in front of the cake, before he realized the audience would need more context.

"The initial meeting on screen was when they met up in front of the cake but I realized watching the film that I needed to introduce and create a sense of animosity between them earlier and so that's how the receiving line scene came about," shares Matthew. These additional scenes were then completed in January 2023.

The receiving line scene is also a wonderful example of the wildness Taylor brings to the screen as Alex, something that Matthew says he never needed to coach Taylor on.

Matthew Lopez: It was a hard-won scene. We actually filmed it in two sections, six months apart. We got all of the scene work and the beats down, and we got what we thought was sufficient party atmosphere beats. And we started to cut the film together, and I realized we just didn’t have enough. And so, we went back in January for a few days of reshoots on a couple of other things, and I got them to rebuild part of the set for me. And we brought in just a bunch of people, and we just had a big party and shot it.

That was one of the great lessons for me as a first-time filmmaker, thinking I had enough and realizing that I didn’t, and then being given the opportunity to go back and get more of what I needed. But one of the blessings of that was because I had cut the scene already, then I got to plan the new shots very carefully. We got to invent moments and grab them.

When Nick went back to do RWRB reshoots, he had just wrapped TIOY. During reshoots, he shot this piano scene with Taylor, where he says the line as Henry: “they loved the idea of me” which is like inception… or something. But just adds to the crazy long invisible string of Nick’s career! 💫 he then of course, goes back to shooting M&G, and we all know about the connection there…

      Michael Kaiser was having the worst nightmare of his life. No, it wasn’t losing a match, getting benched, or even Isagi stealing his goals—it was worse.

      He was wearing a McDonald’s uniform.

      He stared down at himself in horror. A black polo, red apron, and an obnoxious visor? His majestic golden locks were being oppressed under fast-food tyranny. He turned, catching his reflection in the fryer grease-stained window. This wasn’t just a nightmare—this was hell.

      “Michael! You got drive-thru” a voice bellowed from the back. He turned to see his manager, a disgruntled man named Bob, who looked like he had given up on life back in 2006.

      Kaiser just stared at the man, wide-eyed and unblinking.

      “You gonna get to work kid or what?” His manager muttered, shoving him towards the window. Michael shook his head, half hoping the man would disappear and he’d wake up but he didn’t.

      “Welcome to McDonald’s, what do you want?” He grumbled, turning around and facing his inevitable fate.

      Silence.

      Then, a snicker.

      “Kaiser?”

      His blood ran cold.

      “Is that… Isagi?”

      More laughter erupted from the other side. He ripped off the headset, but the car was already rolling up to the window. In the driver’s seat, Isagi was grinning like a madman. In the passenger seat, Bachira was filming with his phone, and in the back, Nagi was half-asleep while Reo waved enthusiastically.

      “No. No. NO. I refuse to acknowledge this,” Kaiser muttered, backing away. “This isn’t real. I need to wake-up?”

      What the hell is this? Inception? He was half hoping Leonardo DiCaprio would pop up and save him.

      Bachira leaned out the window. “Hey, can I get a Kaiser meal? Oh wait, do you guys even serve fallen geniuses?”

      “I’m gonna kill you.”

      Reo snickered. “C’mon, Kaiser, don’t be a sore loser. Just give us some fries.”

      “Make them extra salty,” Nagi added lazily.

      Kaiser turned to grab a handful of fries, ready to throw them at their smug faces when his manager suddenly appeared beside him.

      “You throw one fry, you’re fired.”

      Kaiser froze.

      Fired? From McDonald’s? How far had he fallen? Is this rock bottom?

      Isagi, watching this internal crisis unfold, smirked. “Guess he’s finally found a job where he can’t be the ace.

      “Kaiser, we’re moving you from drive-thru duty, a party of kids are coming in.” His manager spoke. Oh thank God, he didn’t have to see those blue lock teens again. He heaved a sigh of relief as he bolted away from the window.

      "So, what exactly am I doing?" he asked, eyeing the box his manager had just set down. His expression soured the moment Bob pulled out a pair of bright yellow overalls, a curly red wig, and a red-and-white striped shirt with matching socks.

      "You have got to be fucking kidding me," he deadpanned.

      "Nope," his manager replied, handing him a red clown nose.

      Because dream logic never made any sense, Kaiser suddenly found himself fully dressed in the ridiculous outfit. Just then, the store door swung open, and in walked the Blue Lock teens, Isagi front and center, wearing a party hat and carrying a cake.

      Oh god. These were the kids coming in today?

      But it wasn’t a birthday cake. No. That’s when it hit him—it was a celebration. For them. For winning the U20 World Cup.

      And here Kaiser was. Dressed as a clown. Performing for them.

      Something inside Kaiser snapped. He started hyperventilating. The sheer humiliation, the unrelenting torment, the fact that he was about to serve Isagi a Happy Meal and sing clown songs to him, it was too much. He closed his eyes, gripping his visor, willing himself to wake up from this wretched fever dream—

      —and then he jolted upright in his bed, drenched in sweat, gasping for air.

      He frantically checked his surroundings. No black polo. No visor. No Isagi in the drive-thru. Just his luxurious penthouse and his Bastard München training gear draped over a chair.

      He exhaled in relief. “It was just a nightmare…”

      The door suddenly burst open. “Kaiser, get up! We have practice—” Ness paused, staring at the terrified expression on his best friend’s face. “What the hell happened to you?”

      Kaiser, still shaken, whispered, “I was working at McDonald’s.”

      Kaiser buried his face in his hands. “It was the worst day of my life.”

      What made it even worse was that after today’s match, the Blue Lock teens had invited players from all the other teams to grab lunch together. And where did they choose to eat?

      McDonald’s.

      As if the universe hadn’t humiliated him enough, Isagi offhandedly remarked that the Ronald McDonald look really suited Kaiser. For a solid ten seconds, Kaiser seriously considered throwing hands with Isagi Yoichi in the parking lot of a McDonald’s.

this is another "inspired broadly thoughts about veilguard, a game I haven't played" post (it is currently downloading!) but this time it's about, to be honest, epic/heroic fantasy in general, and Campaign 3 and especially Vox Machina.

I think having Vox Machina's mission kick off first chronologically (in a fun way - last to be introduced, but first to go) fits because while the Nein's story is about the change enacted by a small, determined group of people who rely utterly on each other, Vox Machina has always had powerful allies from their introduction to the audience, though not, to be fair, their inception in the home game.

Vox Machina's story in campaign 1 ends with Vasselheim behind them - they are the strike force, but they can call upon bastions defending the city. Devossa and members of the Slayer's Take join them in the final battle. Gilmore, Allura, and Kima have their backs. The same is true in their battle against Thordak, in which they're joined by Tal'Dorei's army, the Ashari, and again, Devossa, Zahra, and Kash. Whereas the Mighty Nein's most public and political victories are ones of mediation and crisis aversion taking place largely off the battlefield (the beacon, the reveal of the Angel of Irons cult, the treaty negotiations, and taking down Trent and the Volstrucker), Vox Machina's public victories concern threats to the realm that bring disparate groups together. (These themes continue quite nicely in the parties' post retirements, Vox Machina being comprised of key figures in Whitestone, the Tal'Dorei Council, Vasselheim, and of course the Ashari and the Mighty Nein's main institutional tie being to the Cobalt Soul.)

I'm very openly a Nein Girlie, but Vox Machina is also quite dear to my heart and I have a particular love for that aspect: for Vox Machina serving as the tip of a worldwide spear against existential threats. The world unites behind them, repeatedly, and they take that role seriously, dick jokes notwithstanding, and do not let their allies down. Indeed, I think the Briarwoods arc is a great example of them not letting their allies down even when they are let down by their allies. Vox Machina is often described as the most archetypal fantasy campaign, and I think that's valid, and there is something very satisfying and lovely about a Tolkien story in which the world comes together against great evil. I think those endings are often harder than endings like those the Mighty Nein had - a story of a small group succeeding against the odds tends to fit narrative patterns of, well, succeeding against the odds, whereas everyone banding together often comes with both victory and terrible sacrifice - but they are vitally important.

I've really loved the Exandrian Accord and the Grim Verity as factions within Campaign 3 - I'd honestly watch 5 more accord sessions and I'm not joking - and after seeing Vox Machina this episode, I hope that Bells Hells are able to honor their agreements the way Vox Machina has and continues to do so.

Getting High with Huxley

(It’s still 4/20 and I just got off work, I can still write this in the >30 minutes i have )

You and Huxley don’t actually get high together too often. As a matter of fact, you don’t get to hang out one on one that much either. You both have hectic schedules, filled with projects and work of your own that the only time you get to see each other is during scheduled meetups with the gang.

Between Damien’s court mandated Mario Kart time and everything you’ve got going on, you’re pretty booked, which is why you’re mildly, but pleasantly surprised to get a text from Huxley inviting you over.

He’d invited you over to “get high and blow our minds” as the text put it and who were you to deny such an eloquent invitation?

You’d arrived there as the sun began to set, the winter/spring chill beginning to settle.

Knock, knock, knock.

The door swings wide open and lo and behold, your beefy bestie is there, smile cracked as wide as the door as he welcomed you in, offering you a hug.

You accepted and he swept you off the ground, enveloping you in the most Huxley-esque hug he could give.

“Dude, I’m so glad you could make it. It feels like it’s been forever since we hung out, just the two of us.”

You nodded in agreement and got settled in on the couch, Hux bringing over the snack assortment he’d prepared.

“Alright bro, we’ve got chips (your favorite kind), chocolate, candy, and of course, the star of the show!” He slid a singular gummy in front of you.

You quirked an eyebrow at him and he grew slightly sheepish.

“Last time I smoked, I got real anxious. Took Dames a few hours to pull me out of it. Edibles don’t give me the same reaction. That cool with you?”

You grabbed his hand reassuringly and squeezed it, watching relief flood into his face.

“Edibles are fine, Hux. Plus, I’m not here just for the weed, I’m here because I want to spend time with my buddy.”

His signature smile broke out onto his face again as he gave you a side hug before reaching for the remote.

“Alright, let’s get this started. Did you have any preferences for what we’re gonna watch? If not, I’m just gonna put on Inception.”

You gave a half-hearted shrug and he took that as confirmation, starting the movie. Reaching over, you grabbed the edible and moved to pop it in your mouth before Hux stopped you.

“Just sayin, dude, you should probably eat it with some chocolate. That’s what I do, at least. Masks most of the weed taste.”

You smirked at his suggestion, grabbing a piece of chocolate and cheersing it with his before you both popped the gummies.

‘Well, let’s get the party started, I guess.’ You thought to yourself…

After Inception…

You were in a fit of giggles at Huxley’s outlandish theory.

“Bro, you can’t tell me I’m wrong!” He cajoled.

“Inception’s just about a bunch of REALLY strong dreamwalkers using their powers for capitalism!”

You could admit, the idea had merit… or at least you would if your mind wasn’t as foggy as it was. Regardless, you felt like you were on cloud 9.

You sank back into their now very comfortable couch, leaning against Hux’s side. His arm wrapped around you, filling you with warmth. Even after weeks of not being able to hang out, it felt like nothing had changed between the two of you.

Amid Hux’s continued rambling about Inception and Dreamwalkers, the door cracked open and in walked Damien, doing a double take at the sight of you two absolutely out of your minds on the couch.

“Hey.” You called to him, waving at him. Or at least you think you did.

A smirk plastered itself on his face as he made his way over to the both of you.

“Hey yourselves.”

He leaned over, giving Huxley a loving forehead kiss and pinching your cheek.

“Wow, you two are absolutely fucking zonked, huh?”

Hux nodded sagely. “Completely baked, babe.”

He reached out to Damien, begging for a kiss, who obliged.

Damien stood back up, shaking his head at the two of you with a smile.

“Well, my couch potatoes, how about I make us some dinner? Something that’ll help you two absorb all the THC in your system?”

“Yes please!” You called out to him.

As Damien retreated to their room to change and start preparing dinner, your focus drew back to Huxley, who’d now taken to running his fingers through your hair.

How blessed you were, to have such love and tenderness in your life.

Entre's 12th Anniversary Big Birthday Bash!

Alright! So I'd say in about 11 hours, we're gonna start the festivities for Entre's birthday/blog anniversary! He'll be turning [redacted] years old today! And his blog is turning 12 :) (Sorry about the short-notice. It took me this long to come up with something.)

Official start time is 12 PM (Noon) CT (UTC -5)

My plan is we start with a Magma board and have a good old fashioned draw party! If you want to check out Magma (or aggie.io as it was absorbed into Magma) ahead of time feel free to do so! You don't need an account to draw or chat, though! We'll do that for a couple of hours.

If you don't want to draw, feel free to put out prompts or suggestions for the ones that are drawing to pick up if they want! There's a chat feature in the Magma. (You click on your name on the top right to find it.)

(But, for the record, you don't need to be da Vinci to draw. Anyone can draw if they want to regardless of skill level.)

The board's limit is 30 people, and I don't think we're hitting it so feel free to pour in.

Then after that, we'll be headed to Hyperbeam to watch one of Entre's favorite movies: Inception! Unfortunately the viewer limit is 12 people so it'll be first come, first serve. :(

Of course it'll be the big guy all day and NOT me. So. Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain.

It was past midnight and Hongjoong was working on Ateez's upcoming comeback that would be coming up in a few days. You, being you, decided to visit Hongjoong's office and give him some company. You had repeatedly told Hongjoong to take a rest and hang out with you but Hongjoong's answer was always, "5 more minutes" or "give me just a sec, I have to finish these last lines" and that was at least 2 hours ago when he last said those words. You were annoyed by Hongjoong's attitude. You swiftly went over to Hongjoong's chair where he was sitting before straddling him in his seat. "What is it baby? Are you tired?", he asked stroking your back lovingly. You nodded eagerly before wrapping your arms around his neck and pulling your face into the crook of his neck, "I want cuddles now", you demanded, a soft laugh erupted from Hongjoong, "Okay baby", he says before reclining his seat back slightly to make you both comfortable. Let's just say Hongjoong went back to work with you hugging him tightly in your sleep.

★𝐬𝐞𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐡𝐰𝐚

Seonghwa was in the studio practicing the dance for their next comeback and you were relaxing on the couch. You watched afar as he danced gracefully for their new song, 'Inception'. His dancing was amazing and his moves were clean and sharp. You hadn't had a chance to cuddle him in what felt like too long and just watching him dance made you yearn for his cuddles. Once Seonghwa was done dancing to the song, he was taken away to be fitted in his comeback stage outfit. When he returned, his outfit was like that of a school boy, his blue tie hanging loose and his white shirt fitting perfectly, some buttons unbuttoned to reveal his collarbone. Seonghwa walked over to your bored figure with a silly smile on his face, "Do you like my outfit?", he asks while showing you his outfit, making you scoff in his face, "Do you really want to know?" you exclaimed making Seonghwa's face droop for a second before he is tugged harshly by the tie and into your embrace, "I think you look so hot, now cuddle me", you say lying on the couch.

As Yunho played Super Mario Party with the other members, you watched them with interest. All day you've been trying to give Yunho hints that you want his cuddles. However, for some reason he was blind and stupid because he wasn't picking it up quickly. So the entire day you were sitting on the couch sorrow plain on your face when the others weren't looking. While they were playing Super Mario party you walked past Yunho kissing him on the cheek and wrapping your arms around his neck. Kissing his cheeks often. But somehow he was unable to get the program. Unsuccessful you leave the room upset and angry since Yunho was not paying attention to you. A couple of hours later all the members leave your house, Yunho heading upstairs ready to go to bed. Once he opens the door you're lying there still scrolling through your phone. Yunho smiles softly at you as he walks over to you. He swiftly gets under the cover, wrapping his arms around your small figure. You look at him with an angry gaze before breaking away from his arms, a shocked expression on Yunho's face. "Honey? What's the matter?", asks Yunho as he tries to pull you in embrace again, "You wouldn't give me any attention when you were playing with your friends", you whine squirming away from him, "I'm sorry y/n, can you forgive me?", asks Yunho, your body turning around to face him directly. You then pull yourself into his embrace, snuggling your head into his chest. "Apologies accepted".

★𝐲𝐞𝐨𝐬𝐚𝐧𝐠

You, Yeosang, and the guys were on vacation at the beach. As you sat in your chair, the others were splashing water at one another and trying to drown one another. You sigh in frustration as you watch Wooyoung attempt to drown Hongjoong for the 40th time today. His loud laughs erupt across the beach when Hongjoong came up with a piece of seaweed on his forehead. You can't help but laugh to yourself at the funny scene in front of your eyes but you had your mind on something else. Yeosang. He was splashing water at Wooyoung, his muscles flexing whenever he splashed the water or swam away. You couldn't help but feel needy this whole week. The only thing you wanted to do was spend time with your boyfriend. You watch as your boyfriend gets out of the water, walking over to you. You smile happily knowing that now you get to spend time with your boyfriend. He sits right beside you, taking his towel and drying off his hair, "Hey baby", you say, yeosang smiling back at you, "Hey angel, why aren't you getting in the water?", he asks still rubbing the towel on his hair, "I want to spend time with you", you say making yeosang stop in his tracks, a shade of blush forming on his cheeks, "Can we go to the beach house and cuddle?", you ask softly now getting out of your chair, "Of course my love".
