hero/villain showdown but one of them has a spontaneous medical emergency and the battle gets put on hold while their archnemesis drives them to Urgent Care
#it should be like. a hernia. or diverticulitis#something intestinal for maximum Awkward Scenario#and the entire car ride alternates between awkward silence and the driver lecturing their nemesis on the importance of regular check-ups#this is funnier if the hero is the one having the hernia tbh. but both options are Very Good#want to emphasize that it is a 'medical emergency ' that is clearly not extreme enough for the emergency room#and the sidekick/henchperson gets stuck in traffic so the hero/villain stays for moral support#they spend 8 hours in the waiting room playing Uno (it devolves into a screaming match)#at the end of the ordeal one of them vows to burn the hospital to the ground with their laser eye powers#and it's Not The One You Think#oh oh oh! ALTERNATIVELY:#it's an allergic reaction; one of them accidentally poisoned the other by using like. soybean derivative in a tranquilizer dart#emphasis on *accidentally*. yes they were technically fighting but That Wasn't Supposed To Happen#so now they're obligated to take responsibility and Stay In The Waiting Room#(can't decide if it's funnier if it's the hero or the villain stuck in this situation)#(probably the villain)#“why didn't you TELL me you were allergic to soybeans???”#“um because you would use it against me in combat?”#“as opposed to NOT telling me! which has worked out fantastic for you!!!”#villain being genuinely offended bc they have a biochemistry degree and have invented literally dozens of untraceable poisons#they have the scientific skill to poison their favorite jackass in hundreds of ways#(and have done so before! in admittedly non-fatal outcomes but that was by design okay)#but it's “dangerous” to do them the simple curtesy of informing them about a SOY ALLERGY????#above all else they consider themself a scientist#and they're LIVID that their favorite (reluctant) test subject lied about their medical history#“technically i didn't LIE--#“I read you the questionnaire! the very first time i held u hostage i READ YOU THE QUESTIONNAIRE!!!”#“...the what now”#“the MEDI--holy shit you weren't even paying attention were you#i had you bound and gagged over an ACTUAL BUBBLING ACID PIT and you couldn't even be bothered to--#“--so i was obviously a bit BUSY at that moment! I'm sorry i ignored your VILLAINOUS MONOLOGUING while the BLOOD WAS RUSHING TO MY HEAD but

imagine a world where the heroes of olympus series was one big crossover. a world where we meet an eleven year old boy named jason, no last name because it reminds him of his mother — a drunk who literally threw him to the wolves as a toddler. jason, who's earliest memory is chewing on a stapler and his older sister tending to the wound on his bottom lip — but he hasn't seen or heard from her since they were separated years ago. jason, who grew up reaching for the sky like a purpose, desperate for a chance to prove himself. jason, who fought to save the world at fifteen years old. and jason, who finds himself in the grand canyon four months later with no memory of who he is or where he came from, feet away from some frantic sixteen year old girl in search of some dude named percy jackson. imagine what this could have been.

just realized that like. everything Spider did for the people, all the pain and sacrifice he made, all the efforts he made to protect The People and the Sully's with his own life and body as their shield.
enduring torture, not saying a word, being willing to die before they scraped an image from his head. trying to detour the Recoms at the rookery, even get one of them killed, but going out of his way to give bad advice. protecting the Ta'unui the best he could, even if it could have put his own safety at risk (whether he pushed his captors to a breaking point, or became too much of a liability to be left in the field with Q, and Ardmore called for him back). witnessing so much pain with a stiff lip and thick skin. crashing the Sea Dragon, undoubtedly risking his own life but giving the Na'vi the upper hand in the battle. being so docile under Neytiri's knife, bargaining with his own life, for even a chance of his sister being safe. guiding Kiri out of the ship.
all of it. such admirable things. proving his loyalty. his capability. that he wasn't like his father, wasn't a demon. things no teenage boy should ever have to experience or go through, let alone be expected to do. things that should have him honored as a warrior.
it will all be ignored because he's saved one man. he saved the one man that loved him, no matter how terrible he was. he will be treated like the villain everyone suspected he would be, that he would become one day, all because he had mercy— even if Quaritch didn't deserve, it has be acknowledged that his crime was mercy. not being able to watch a man drown. not being able to leave him behind —because he couldn't kill his father.
Spider will not be honored or revered for everything he's done, for the scars left on his mind and body, for any of it, the second the truth is found out. and I doubt there will be many who try and understand, try and see from his perspective, try and look at things from the perspective of Spider, a hurt and neglected boy who was selfish for once in his life.
Spider was stripped of all honor, all the good he did, because of one action. one action in a life of pain and giving and giving and giving and being forced to contort himself to be palatable and non-abrasive and being put second being the designated sacrifice again and again. never knowing an ounce of parental love.
he just wanted his dad.
and like always, the fandom is the worst about it.

Hiii,
I was just wondering what you think the power hierarchy for overlords is, I’ve seen some people say Zestiel’s the strongest overlord and others say it’s Alastor. Tbh a pet peeve of mine is when people write Alastor as way stronger than Vox/ The Vees, personally I see Vox and Alastor as being on the same level, maybe with Alastor being slightly stronger. That’s why they haven’t fought it out, there’s to much for both of them to loose, like when in Stayed Gone Valentino said Alastor ‘Almost’ beat him.
Just wondering what you think xx
I think all the Overlord's are on a similar level to each other, if not in terms of raw power, than in politics. I believe Viv confirmed that Rosie isn't as powerful as the other Overlords, or at least she's the least powerful of them, but I think it's through politics that keeps anyone from messing with her. She's literally running an entire district full of cannibals. If you mess with her, you're going to find out what it's like to have the population in your district gobbled up.
Sure, none of them will permanently die, but if they were in your employ, it's gonna cause a fuckton or problems (and financial losses) when none of your employees make it to work.
With the Vee's, I can see them sharing all the souls they own, or keeping it split evenly between them. Even so, having to keep things fair can put a damper on their individual power since they can't just gather souls en masse without consulting the other two.
If they're sharing souls, however, (and each Overlord in the Council has roughly the same amount of souls - if there's a certain number of souls you have to own to be considered an Overlord) the Vee's being able to tap into power that is 3x stronger than a single Overlord has it's advantages XD I'm sure there are still drawbacks to it, everything has their pros and cons.
I think Zestial is definitely one of the most powerful out of them, considering he's the oldest and thus has had that much longer to collect souls. But we also know that he's currently retired, so I don't think he's really in the game of upping his collection. I think he's content where he is and won't get involved unless absolutely necessary.
Carmilla on the other hand, I can see getting up there with Zestial, not in the amount of souls she owns, but because of her trade. She literally makes weapons using angelic steel (a material that can not only kill sinners - like the other Overlords - but demon royalty like the goetia). As far as we know, Carmilla has a monopoly on the creation and distribution of angelic weapons, which makes a serious threat to a majority of the hierarchy in Hell. I imagine that she is constantly being watched by the other Overlords cuz there's always the possibility she'll turn her weapons on them. Which is also why I think she's so careful about not inviting violence into her home.
Creating weapons with angelic steel gives her a big advantage over everyone else, but it also puts a massive target on her back. I can see the other Overlords creating an alliance to take her out if she ever gave the impression of turning her weapons on them, because in that case, she'd be a threat to all of them. If she were to align herself with certain Overlords, I can also see the rest of the council seeing that as a threat. Which is why I think she stays so neutral. She's friends with Zestial, but Zestial's also retired, so I don't think they consider that much of a threat.
I don't know what Zeezi or fire-guys deal is. We don't know much about them.
But Alastor? I think Alastor is a very special case. He was taking out Overlord's very early after his death, which i imagine is incredibly hard to do. I mean, they're Overlords for a reason, and they were heavy-hitters (according to Mimzy).
Even then, it's not like he killed them and then immediately broadcasted their screams. Mimzy said Overlords started going missing, and then later Alastor broadcasted their screams. So, he didn't only take them out, but he was keeping them somewhere. It could have something to do with the deal he made, but no one else knows about that. To all of them, Alastor was working on his own.
All they know about him is that he took out a LOT of the previous Overlord Council, and then broadcasted their screams. Considering the Overlords were never heard from again afterward, one could assume that he'd killed them.
Did he use angelic weapons to do this? Hell if they know.
How did he manage to grab so many and come out without a scratch? It's a mystery.
Where and how did he broadcast their screams? The question remains unanswered to this day.
Alastor literally came into Hell like an Overlord's worst nightmare. Can you imagine the Council's reactions as, one by one, their members started going missing? They didn't know how, they didn't know who was doing it, and they didn't know if they would be next. Alastor came in like the apex predator to Overlords and did something no one thought was possible almost overnight.
Do you think he showed up to the Overlord Council meetings on his own? Or was he invited? Can you imagine how the other Overlord's must've felt sitting next to Alastor, the person who had killed (as far as they're concerned) other Overlords like them?
In the show, it doesn't look like Alastor has any territory like the others, nor does he really have a trade like everyone else, Carmilla's weapons, Rosie's emporium, the Vee's products and entertainment, (except his radio show, but we don't actually know if he makes money off of that). He's not necessarily active in the city's economy (except providing quality entertainment!), so in all respects, he's kind of just...vibing. He's just there to have a good time.
I also think the reason none of the other Overlord's mess with him is because they don't want him to go back to killing Overlord's. He's unpredictable at best, so there's no telling if he'd decide to up and do it again one day, but he seems content where he is and they'd rather he stayed that way. They're not all buddy-buddy with him (except Rosie, and maybe Zestial), but they won't antagonize him either (except for you, Vox).
Considering in the present they don't treat Alastor like they're afraid of him or nervous about his presence, I think enough time has passed that they've stopped worrying he'd going into another Overlord murder-spree, but the thought lingers from time to time, especially if you were there during his murder-spree. I can't imagine Valentino or Velvette (Velvette especially) giving a lot of credit to Alastor's skill or backstory since they weren't there to experience his broadcasts first hand. Wonder if they're tune would change if they WERE there for it.
I also wonder how many new Overlords popped up after Alastor took out a majority of the others. Who in the Overlord council do we know were there. Zestial, for sure. But Rosie? Zeezie? Fire-guy? Carmilla?
Until we know when they died, we can't be sure, but I do love thinking about it. The aftermath of Alastor's murder-spree had to be something.

my personal headcanon is the vees were unremarkable nobodies when they were alive. i just love it as a thematic throughline for them. they love to let the public of hell speculate on them being famed and acclaimed since before death, but the the truth is they were a d-list failed influencer that got by on cheap controversey and scamming, a broke junkie who burned every shaky bridge he ever had, and a worn-out broadcast production assistant with more rejected auditions and tossed out script pitches than he could count. nobody missed them when they were gone, nobody cared who they were until they were dead.
#because villains who didn't start off supremely powerful are more interesting to me#vees#it's not that they CAN'T be better. or that they're simply ignorant of the ways they fuck up others lives#they actually all do have that knowledge of being the underdog. and it's made them all the more shitty#because they never want to be those people again#narratives about people who make each other worse <3#to be clear they were still shitty people in life. manipulative. consumed by greed and envy. all their individual flaws etc etc#but hell made them into the absolute worst versions of themselves#of course what their Worst Self is and the journey/length of time/initial reaction to being in hell varies#like val sees hell as a continuation of the things happening in life. just w/ the power dynamics always privileging him#it's the same drugs and violence. except the violence isn't just survival anymore but the chance to indulge his deeply sadistic desires#vox has completely dissociated from his time alive. that person is dead and he's reinvented himself 1000 times over since then#90% of the time he has those memory files shoveled into a hidden directory#he refuses to acknowledge that he's still haunted by some of the same insecurities from almost a century ago#val doesn't necessarily see his living self in a fond light but he does see that person as fundamentally him#velvette thinks life was full of people who weren't her demographic but fortunately that's been fixed by sinners!#they just couldn't Get Her and that was all their faults#the primary way they view their past selves can be summed up as: scorn (vox) apathy (valentino) and in denial (velvette)#sorry the bulk of the post was in the tags. i will be doing this again#the scorn is the coping mechanism for shame. of course

"Do you realize that whichever book my mom reaches for could be the last thing that she ever reads? Jane Eyre is six hundred pages! What if she doesn’t finish? Or worse, what if she gets halfway through and then realizes that she hates it! What if she wastes her final precious moments on a terrible book?! I just don’t wanna be held responsible for ruining her last literary experience."

See, this is why I can't trust myself. I had an important paper that I needed to sign for a school activity, so I specifically taped it onto my table, where I could clearly see it and I wouldn't forget about it. And then I forgot about it. My eyes just glossed right over it as if I didn't put it literally RIGHT THERE for that exact reason. I genuinely thought I lost it and was considering sending an email to the teacher to send me a new copy. This is far from the first time this has happened </3

Gonna say something controversial.
Ford Pines is a nuanced character who is neither good nor bad. Absolving him of his crimes is actively a detriment to his character and does a disservice to the storytelling of Gravity Falls, but defining him exclusively by his mistakes without taking the time to understand him is a purposefully bad faith take that actively makes your enjoyment of the show worse.
He is neither a good or bad person, because "good" people and "bad" people aren't real. There's just people. And people fuck up sometimes.
If no one fucked up and if no one held onto those fuckups sometimes out of sheer desperation, the world of fiction would be way more boring, unengaging, and dull.
Ford Pines is a mess and I don't want him to be sanitized or demonized. I just want him to be a mess.
Thank you
#sorry someone keeps sending bad ford takes into a server i'm in and they're getting to me#he's a prideful and arrogant man and also deeply insecure and compensating for that with ego#he wants to be a good person and do the right thing while accepting influence from the worst people in his life because he respects them#he's placed his entire self worth on a pedistal because everyone else held him to that bar#and he'll never reach it because he keeps putting it up higher and higher before he even can#like he coulda published his research at any time but chose not to because he wanted to make a wave in science so big he couldn't be ignore#he felt like if he wasn't someone extraordinary then there was no point to him at all because he cannot be ordinary#it's either excel or be outcasted. and he was done being outcasted#so he used that to build himself up as compensation for that looming feeling#and as a result he tried to reach up as high as he could and took bad deals#bill made it clear; it's the hillbilly or me. he's going to betray you. and as soon as ford thought bill was right it was joever#bill manipulated him onto that train of thought but he ultimately made that call at Greasy's that night#that's the fun part! there's the nuance!!#ford wouldn't have acted that way without bill's influence but bill did not actively tell him to treat fidds like that#it's so interesting because it's so layered and intertwined. so many variables rely on each other to happen.#this is a good man pushed in the worst direction possible by a being who intends him harm and ford is nonethewiser until it's too late#idk why it's controversial to say that i like my ford messy but here we are. i like him messy. he's not an angel but he's not a demon eithe#he's a goddamn human and the show treats him like one#journal 3 and TBOB also support this. hell TBOB's entire *point* was to show how bill managed to manipulate him#and show the horrors that came after. then it showed us that ford has nothing to be ashamed of there. it's not his fault#no one in his family blames him or thinks he's stupid for falling for bill. why do some people think he is or think TBOB thinks he is?#i dont get it#dimond speaks

TMagP spoilers!
One thing I find kind of interesting is that in the 2 statements that The Archivist has extracted since reaching the other world (or a world that did go through a fear apocolypse) is that while people are still pretty traumatised by their fears and experiencing them (duh), their feelings about The Eye, that would only watch them during their torture, has turned from fear to anger and disdain.
The ending of Heidi's statement was genuinely so chills inducing with how she promised to *watch* The Eye and Archivist be destroyed.
And if The Eye is no longer feared as much as it is hated, where would it stand among the fears in this universe (esp since none of the other fears are there as entities)?
Idk regardless of the in-universe(s) possibilities, i just think it's cool to think about if a fear can be rendered not feared or something.
