Top 5 kisses in BL 2023
Top 5 fashion choices in BL 2023
Top 5 aesthetically pleasing BL in 2023
monica my beloved ♥ thank you so much for sending me all three of these!! i made separate posts for the other two here and here, but let's get into kissing now, shall we!
-
My Top 5 BL Kisses in 2023
I. PuenTalay in Our Skyy 2 x Vice Versa episode 2
Tumblr media
listen, i know i am extremely biased but i am just OBSESSED with the parallel included to this kiss. p'x was high on something, having visions, incredibly galaxy-brained when he decided to remake puentalay's drunken kiss in their final episode. with the same dialogue and puen's soundless 'i love you' no less! this kiss is extremely beautiful and so meaningful and gosh. owns my whole ass ♥
II. MorkDay in Last Twilight episode 6
Tumblr media
the rooftop kiss coming to compete with all the legendary rooftop kisses! absolutely feral over how this scene goes, how it starts with one tentative kiss (careful, scared, almost chaste and innocent, child-like) and then turns into all this hunger and desperation and determination and anger and grief and confusion and delight and relief. this is pure insanity. i know they're about to top this some time soon but ugh, true cinema.
III. LomfonTien in LaPluie episode 12
Tumblr media
i was waiting for this kiss like i was about to drown without it and it did not disappoint. i think i replayed this scene like ten times once it happened bc it was just so good. very nice, very fulfilling. i hope these two get a second season so i can see more of them being crazy about each other and sort out whatever mess the universe has planned for them.
IV. JokeZo in Hidden Agenda episode 8
Tumblr media
i know they have a full-on makeout session in this episode bc it's their first time and everything, but i am genuinely in love with this specific moment. there is just something so... intimate? humane? real? about the way joke brings zo with him into the bedroom and then sets them both down like this. it brings back memories, and maybe that touch of real-life connection makes this kiss so important to me. they're sweet, they're in love, and this kiss is a testament to that.
V. SandRay in Only Friends episode 9
Tumblr media
i was straight up screaming when this scene happened for the first time. idk how firstkhao did it, but on some level, this feels like sandray's first kiss. it's so full of anger and passion and desperation and love and fear and. yeah. it's just a very impactful kiss, so it has to be here. some lives were changed. especially when this is impro??? oh christ alive.
Bonus: HeartLiming cheek kiss in Moonlight Chicken episode 8
Tumblr media
this is the cutest shit. my heart fills with joy when i look at this. they're my precious beans and they're together and in love and everything is right in the world ♥
-
thank you monica, i love you so much ♥ i hope you enjoy these answers!

Smart Agriculture: How AI is Revolutionizing Farming Robots
Agriculture has always been a cornerstone of human civilization. From the early days of hand-plowing fields to the mechanization of farming in the 20th century, advancements in technology have continually revolutionized the way we grow and harvest food. Today, we are on the brink of another agricultural revolution, driven by the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics. This fusion is transforming traditional farming practices, making them more efficient, sustainable, and productive. In this blog, we will explore how AI is revolutionizing farming robots and reshaping the agricultural landscape.
The Need for Smart Agriculture
The global population is expected to reach nearly 10 billion by 2050, according to the United Nations. This population growth necessitates a substantial increase in food production. However, traditional farming methods are becoming less viable due to various challenges such as climate change, soil degradation, water scarcity, and labor shortages. Smart agriculture, powered by AI and robotics, offers innovative solutions to these problems.
AI-Powered Precision Farming
One of the key ways AI is revolutionizing agriculture is through precision farming. Precision farming involves the use of AI algorithms and data analytics to optimize every aspect of farming, from planting to harvesting. Here are some of the AI technologies making precision farming possible:
Drones and Satellite Imagery: AI-powered drones and satellites capture high-resolution images of fields. These images are analyzed to assess crop health, soil conditions, and pest infestations. Farmers can then apply the right amount of fertilizers, pesticides, and water to specific areas, reducing waste and increasing yield.
IoT Sensors: Internet of Things (IoT) sensors placed in fields collect real-time data on soil moisture, temperature, humidity, and nutrient levels. AI algorithms analyze this data to provide farmers with actionable insights, such as when to irrigate and fertilize crops.
Predictive Analytics: AI-driven predictive analytics models forecast weather patterns, pest outbreaks, and crop diseases. These predictions enable farmers to take preventive measures and minimize losses.
Autonomous Farming Robots
Robotics, combined with AI, is transforming labor-intensive farming tasks. Autonomous farming robots are designed to perform various agricultural activities with minimal human intervention. Some notable examples include:
Planting and Seeding Robots: These robots use AI to determine the optimal planting depth and spacing for seeds. They can also identify and avoid obstacles, ensuring efficient planting.
Weeding Robots: Weeding is a labor-intensive task that requires precision. AI-powered weeding robots use computer vision to distinguish between crops and weeds. They can then remove weeds mechanically or apply targeted herbicides, reducing the need for chemical treatments.
Harvesting Robots: Harvesting robots are equipped with AI algorithms to identify ripe fruits and vegetables. They can gently pick and sort produce, minimizing damage and increasing efficiency.
Enhancing Sustainability
Sustainability is a critical concern in modern agriculture. AI and robotics play a significant role in promoting sustainable farming practices:
Water Management: AI-powered irrigation systems use data from IoT sensors to optimize water usage. By delivering the right amount of water to crops at the right time, these systems reduce water waste and promote sustainable water management.
Soil Health: AI algorithms analyze soil data to recommend appropriate crop rotations and cover crops. This helps maintain soil health and fertility, preventing soil degradation.
Reduced Chemical Usage: Precision farming techniques, such as targeted spraying of fertilizers and pesticides, reduce the overall usage of chemicals. This not only lowers costs for farmers but also minimizes environmental impact.
Improving Crop Yields and Quality
AI and robotics are instrumental in improving both the quantity and quality of agricultural produce:
Optimized Crop Management: AI-powered decision support systems provide farmers with insights on crop selection, planting schedules, and nutrient management. This leads to higher yields and better-quality produce.
Early Disease Detection: AI-driven image recognition technology can detect early signs of crop diseases. By identifying and addressing diseases promptly, farmers can prevent widespread crop damage and ensure healthier yields.
Enhanced Breeding Programs: AI is also used in plant breeding programs to analyze genetic data and identify traits that lead to higher-yielding and disease-resistant crops. This accelerates the development of improved crop varieties.
Challenges and Future Prospects
While the integration of AI and robotics in agriculture holds immense promise, it also comes with challenges:
Cost and Accessibility: The initial investment in AI-powered farming equipment can be high, making it less accessible to small-scale farmers. However, as technology advances and becomes more affordable, broader adoption is expected.
Data Privacy and Security: The collection and analysis of vast amounts of agricultural data raise concerns about data privacy and security. Ensuring that farmers' data is protected is crucial.
Skill Gap: The implementation of AI and robotics in agriculture requires a skilled workforce. Training and education programs are needed to equip farmers with the necessary knowledge and skills.
Despite these challenges, the future of smart agriculture looks promising. Ongoing research and development in AI and robotics are expected to address these issues and unlock new possibilities. The collaboration between tech companies, research institutions, and agricultural stakeholders will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of farming.
Conclusion
In conclusion, AI breakthroughs revolutionizing robotics are paving the way for a new era of smart agriculture. By leveraging AI-powered precision farming, autonomous robots, and sustainable practices, we can address the challenges facing modern agriculture and ensure food security for the growing global population. The journey towards smarter farming is not just a technological evolution but a step beyond traditional methods, promising a more efficient, sustainable, and productive agricultural landscape.
As we embrace this transformation, it is essential to recognize the contributions of various stakeholders in advancing AI and robotics in agriculture. Companies like Tekplay are at the forefront of this revolution, developing innovative solutions that drive the future of smart farming. Through continuous innovation and collaboration, we can look beyond current limitations and unlock the full potential of AI and robotics in agriculture.
By integrating AI and robotics, we are not only enhancing the efficiency and sustainability of farming but also paving the way for a future where technology and agriculture coexist harmoniously, ensuring a prosperous and food-secure world for generations to come.

Machine Learning Algorithms for Drowsiness Detection
In the quest for safer roads, machine learning algorithms have emerged as valuable tools in detecting driver drowsiness. These algorithms utilize vast amounts of data to accurately identify signs of fatigue and alertness, helping prevent accidents caused by sleepy drivers. One commonly used algorithm is the Convolutional Neural Network (CNN). This deep learning model is effective at analyzing images captured by a camera placed on or near the driver's face. By training the CNN on a dataset that includes both drowsy and awake states, it can learn patterns and features indicative of sleepiness such as drooping eyelids or head nodding. Another powerful algorithm employed in drowsiness detection systems is Support Vector Machines (SVM). SVMs are particularly adept at classifying different states based on extracted features from physiological signals like eye movements, brainwaves, or heart rate variability. With these inputs, SVMs can detect changes associated with fatigue and issue appropriate warnings to keep drivers vigilant. Recurrent Neural Networks (RNN) are also gaining popularity in this domain. RNN models excel at processing sequential data over time, making them suitable for analyzing continuous streams of sensor readings during driving sessions. By considering temporal dependencies between consecutive data points, RNNs can effectively capture variations in driver behavior that may indicate drowsiness. These machine learning algorithms form the backbone of real-time driver drowsiness detection systems. Their ability to process complex datasets quickly allows for prompt identification of potential dangers on the road. As technology continues to advance, we can expect even more sophisticated algorithms specifically tailored for this purpose. By leveraging Python programming language's extensive libraries and frameworks dedicated to machine learning tasks such as scikit-learn or TensorFlow, developers can build robust systems capable of monitoring driver vigilance accurately. The implementation and testing phase play a crucial role in ensuring system reliability. Rigorous evaluations must be conducted using diverse datasets containing various driving scenarios and driver profiles. BEHAVIOURAL/LEARNING DISABILITY:AUTISM
What Is Autism?
Tumblr media
People with autism have trouble with communication. They have trouble understanding what other people think and feel. This makes it hard for them to express themselves, either with words or through gestures, facial expressions, and touch.
People with autism might have problems with learning. Their skills might develop unevenly. For example, they could have trouble communicating but be unusually good at art, music, math, or memory. Because of this, they might do especially well on tests of analysis or problem-solving.
Signs and symptoms:
Symptoms start showing from the age of 3
A lack of eye contact
A narrow range of interests or intense interest in certain topics
Doing something over and over, like repeating words or phrases, rocking back and forth, or flipping a lever
High sensitivity to sounds, touches, smells, or sights that seem ordinary to other people
Not looking at or listening to other people
Not looking at things when another person points at them. Not wanting to be held or cuddled.Problems understanding or using speech, gestures, facial expressions, or tone of voice.Talking in a sing-song, flat, or robotic voice.Trouble adapting to changes in routine. Some children with autism may also have seizures. These might not start until adolescence.
Types of ASD:
Asperger’s syndrome. These children don’t have a problem with language; in fact, they tend to score in the average or above-average range on intelligence tests. But they have social problems and a narrow scope of interests.
Autistic disorder. This is what most people think of when they hear the word “autism.” It refers to problems with social interactions, communication, and play in children younger than 3 years.
Childhood disintegrative disorder. These children have typical development for at least 2 years and then lose some or most of their communication and social skills.
Pervasive developmental disorder (PDD or atypical autism). Your doctor might use this term if your child has some autistic behavior, like delays in social and communications skills, but doesn’t fit into another category.
Causes of Autism:
It could stem from problems in parts of your brain that interpret sensory input and process language.
Autism is four times more common in boys than in girls. It can happen in people of any race, ethnicity, or social background. Family income, lifestyle, or educational level doesn’t affect a child’s risk of autism. But there are some risk factors:
Autism runs in families, so certain combinations of genes may increase a child’s risk.
A child with an older parent has a higher risk of autism.
Pregnant women who are exposed to certain drugs or chemicals, like alcohol or anti-seizure medications, are more likely to have autistic children.
Other risk factors include maternal metabolic conditions such as diabetes and obesity. Research has also linked autism to untreated phenylketonuria (also called PKU, a metabolic disorder caused by the absence of an enzyme) and rubella (German measles).
Diagnosis:
It is difficult to arrive at a definite diagnosis, but through behaviour and development of a child we can draw some conclusions:
2 steps to understand the diagnosis
A screening test is done to understand the child’s learning, speaking, behaviour and movement.Any developmental delays can be found at the child’s checkup’s at 9months,18months,24months,30months.
If your child shows any abnormalities during these screenings, they may require further evaluation on vision tests, hearing tests and genetic tests.
Homoeopathic Management and Treatment of Autism:
early treatment can make a big difference in development for a child with autism.
Behavioural and communication therapy helps in structure and organisation
Occupational therapy can help with life skills like dressing, eating, and relating to people.
Sensory integration therapy might help someone who has problems with being touched or with sights or sounds. Speech therapy improves communication skill
Homeopathic medicines act at the neuro developmental levels and are safe for kids. within few weeks to a few months, positive changes are seen at the level of speech, languages and cognition. Social skills start to develop gradually as the treatment progresses, thus making kids independent, communicative and ready for schooling. Clinical experience and result over the years suggest that homeopathy is believed to bring about positive changes at epigenetic levels.

Keratoconus Treatment in india, Keratoconus Surgery In Mumbai
Keratoconus Treatment In India
In the early stages, when the cornea is still regular, corrective prescription glasses or soft contact lenses can help the patient. As keratoconus advances, the corneal surface becomes increasingly irregular and these options do not help adequately. Treatment options can be broadly divided into stabilizing the cone and visual rehabilitation.
Stabilizing the Cone:
As keratoconus is progressive disorder, it needs to be stabilized or progression needs to be addressed.
Age
Usually it stabilizes naturally after the age of 40 years
C3-R TREATMENT (Corneal Collagen Cross Linkage with Riboflavin)
It is a non-invasive treatment for keratoconus. It strengthens the collagen tissue which forms the fabric of cornea. It is a simple 30 to 60 minutes in-office procedure. Eye drops containing Riboflavin (Vitamin B2) are applied on the cornea and then activated By Ultra-violet light. This increases the collagen cross linking causing strengthening of cornea thereby stopping it from bulging outwards and arresting keratoconus from progressing further.
Tumblr media
The figures above show the parallel corneal layers (white) and the collagen cross-linking (Red) which are increased after C3-R treatment.
INTACS
Tumblr media
Intacs Rings After Implantation
Tumblr media
Insertion of Intacs In The Eye
Intacs is a minimally invasive surgical procedure that involves insertion of two tiny, clear crescent shaped implant made of special PMMA, into the cornea. They are reversible and cannot be felt by the patient. They require no maintenance. However, glasses or contact lenses may be required after successful INTACs implantation. They have shown to improve vision and stop progression of keratoconus by flattening the cornea.
Suitability:
Intacs is ideal for adults over twenty one years of age, who suffer from keratoconus. The intacs prescription inserts are advised for patients to correct myopia and astigmatism when contact lenses are no longer suitable.
Benefits
Tumblr media
Simple, 10-minute outpatient procedure Marked improvement in vision Removable and exchangeable.
Minimally invasive as compared to corneal transplantation.
Delays the progression of keratoconus.
The procedure allows you to undergo a corneal transplant if required, in the future.
In severe cases, C3-R treatment can also be combined with Intacs to achieve more flattening of the keratoconus cone.
Keratoplasty (Cornea Transplantation)
Keratoplasty is a corneal transplantation surgery, where diseased cornea of patient is replaced by healthy cornea from donor eye. As the cornea is replaced by healthy tissue, progression usually stops and then the patient can be visually rehabilitated.
Visual Rehabilitation
Glasses:
Early and mild cases can be corrected with glass prescription
Contact lenses:
Rigid Gas Permeable contact lenses: They are the treatment of choice when glasses fail to help the patient. They provide a smooth refractive surface replacing the irregular cone like surface of the cornea, thus enabling the patient to see clearly. Lens fitting in keratoconus can be a demanding and time consuming process. It requires frequent visits to a good eye specialist to get a perfect and comfortable fit.
“Piggyback” Contact Lenses: Some eye doctors practice “piggyback” where a soft contact lens is first placed on cornea to give it a cushion like effect and on top of it RGP lens is fitted. Thus, it combines the best features of both lenses in the sense that it makes the wearer comfortable and at the same time gives crisp clear vision. The fitting should be perfect to ensure good oxygen permeability to the cornea as the patient will be wearing two lenses. However, with newer high oxygen permeable lenses this is not a problem.
Hybrid Contact lenses: Some manufacturers have come up with this unique design of contact lenses where the central visual portion is made up of high oxygen permeable rigid material and peripheral anchoring portion is of soft hydrogel material. This also maximizes the best features of both lenses and improves wearers comfort as well as visual performance in keratoconic eyes.
Mini- Scleral Lenses these are large-diameter gas permeable contacts — large enough that the periphery and edge of the lens rest on the "white" of the eye (sclera). Because the center of lenses vaults over the irregularly shaped cornea, these lenses don't apply pressure to the eye's cone-shaped surface for a more comfortable fit. These lenses also are more stable than conventional gas permeable contact lenses, which move with each blink.
New Vistas in surgical treatment:
In the last decade, with newer surgical and technological advances in treatment modalities for keratoconus, INTACS and C3-R have shown promising & encouraging results.
LASIK Xtra
In cases of early or suspected keratoconus with refractive error, LASIK can be combined with crosslinking to give good and stable visual outcome.
Implantable Collamer Lens (ICL):
ICL is mainly used for treatment of refractive error which is not amenable to LASIK. Recently it has become popular treatment modality for visual rehabilitation in cases of stable keratoconus or after C3R. It reduces the dependence on glasses/ contact lenses and is a reversible procedure. In this procedure a thin collamer lens is inserted inside the eye which corrects the refractive error upto -18D sphere and 6 D cylinders.
Toric IOLs (Toric Intra ocular lens)
In patients with stable keratoconus requiring cataract surgery, Toric IOLs is a good option. It can correct high degree of astigmatism and patient can have better visual clarity after cataract surgery.
Corneal Transplant:
This is a surgical treatment, which is reserved for advance cases of Keratoconus, where the vision cannot be improved with glasses or contact lenses. Here the central portion of the cornea is removed and replaced with a donor cornea of similar size. Of all diseases for which keratoplasty is done, keratoconus has the best prognosis. There are three types of keratoplasty
Penetrating Keratoplasty: where all layers of central part of patient’s cornea is cut and replaced by donor cornea.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Deep anterior lamellar keratoplasty (DALK): Lamellar keratoplasty is a more advanced form of Cornea transplant. In DALK, anterior four layers of patient’s cornea is removed very carefully sparing the inner delicate layers of Descemt’s membrane and endothelium and replaced by anterior four layer of donor cornea minus Descemet’s membrane. Sparing the Descemet’s membrane, risk of rejection and complications of intraocular surgery is minimized and it offers all the advantages of penetrating keratoplasty

NEM Minimalism 38 - Curator Lulú Espinoza-Elenes De Panbehchi.
"This was a very popular theme and there were many images related to water. If you see the gallery cover poster, it starts with an upside down ant, followed by an image with a sculpture that looks like a father telling a child "go ahead," and then an upside image again. The next five images are related to the sea and water. I chose these images because they provide a cool and cooling idea: even if we are upside down, looking at water is relaxing and cool."  -- Lulú Espinoza-Elenes De Panbehchi

Translation: Manusoverlevering, part 4
Here's part 4 of the youtube translation, from 56.41-1.14.25 (the final part - yay!!)
Any mistakes are there for your enjoyment - I'm a Swede translating Norwegian into English, which gives me two extra languages to føkk up. Ooops.
Also, there are a lot of starts, stops, pauses and unfinished sentences going on during the panel - I haven't cleaned that up, you're getting it just as it was said. So, yeah. Sorry, not sorry.
Anyway, translation (hopefully...) under the cut...
part 1, part 2, part 3
Christopher Pahle: We have about ten minutes for questions from the room, so if anyone has any questions? No one has a question? We… we have a… we’re walking around with a microphone so… no one is raising their hand. Are there no questions, should we finish early? Over there is someone, you’re getting a microphone. Yeah. I’ll remove that photo. [shuts the big screen off]
Audience member: Yeah, hello. Henrik. I understand that there’s a lot of impro and so on, but a lot of people are talking about Julie’s method, that she does something or other with the mood the actors are in beforehand to put them in the right mindset. How do you get the actual, well, acting to come out?
Julie Andem: I just yell a lot. [laughs] If they don’t… no, not really. What do I do? I don’t know, like, I think that all actors need different things, that you can’t use the same method for every actor. So it takes some time to, like, break the code for each one of them and understand what makes them better. And someone felt that I didn’t, like, necessarily completely break theirs.
Henrik Holm: That sounds terrible.
JA: Psychologically. So it’s breaking them psychologically and then… No, but, umm, but…
David Sjøholt: Who was it that didn’t…
JA: But I think that, and especially for young people, I’m not sixteen, seventeen, eighteen year old myself, so using them as advisers and make sure to always listen to them if they have input for the script or if they want to say something in a different way or don’t understand why they are saying what they’re saying, that’s a good start.
CP: The rest of you, do you have any views on what Julie’s method is? Since she can’t explain it herself?
HH [laughs]: I think we all do.
DS: I don’t know. Sorry.
Ulrikke Falch [to David]: You can’t… sorry.
HH: Are we going to sit here and apologise to each other? [said more jokily than harshly if anyone wonders…] No, but it’s exactly like Julie says, that I always felt that she saw each and every one of us. And there wasn’t any yelling or any, like, [deepens his voice] “Listen, you don’t understand what I’m trying to get across here”. There was never that kind of frustration that I’ve experienced with other directors. It was always, “We’re a team, we’re going to try to do this in the best way possible, and for you to understand my vision, I have to understand you and you have to understand me back”. Um. And that was very educational and really inspiring, and I think it was because of that that we got so much out, or you got so much out of all the actors. Because you gave a lot of yourself. And that’s something not all directors have the opportunity to do.
JA: Yeeeeah. [applause]
CP: Other questions? There’s one. You’re getting a microphone.
Audience member: Hi.
All the cast: Hi.
AM: Um. You were asked, during the first season, I think…
JA: Me?
AM: Yeah. It was someone of, someone of, one of the actors that asked, like, what do you want with this, or, how big do you think this is going to be, and you joked a bit and said “We’re aiming for world domination”. You were right. But when did you understand it in a way, or, when did you think, “Wow…”?
JA: I don’t know, I think, like from mid season two it felt like for each week there was a new record set or some other wild thing that happened, and it was like, “huh?”, like, the Prime Minister calls, or, do you understand what I mean, that it was so… it just escal… and it never ended. So I thought that, like, it’ll soon have to [make a downgoing gesture], now we’ll have to land soon, because… But I think particularly the week when everyone was waiting for an answer from William. Then I thought that people had really lost it. It was, like, Rema1000 came came out with “fish cakes while you wait” and NetCom came out with “If William had had a NetCom subscription then he would have answered” and it was, like, such a… at NRK there were people just sitting and, I heard that people were just sitting and refreshing. And there were sites made where it was, like, “Have William answered yet?”. Like, it was… it was… I just thought that this… Jeez… this…
AM: This works…
JA: People liked this. I thought. Yeah.
AM: I was wondering a bit too about what the rest of you thought. When did it dawn on the rest of you? Just short.
UF: I’ve still not understood it. It.. it’s not like you get there and then you’re like, “Yes, we made it.” I think, like you say, that it’s just a continuous experience of “we’ve made an impact on people” and those stories come dripping in, and everytime they do, we’re reminded that… we took over the world. [applause]
CP: We have a question here. From Kosegruppa DK.
All the cast: Yeeeeeah.
HH: Welcome.
JA: Kosegruppa!
Audience Member: Thank you. Yeah, yeah, I actually have all the Kosegruppa admins with me via our chat, so I have a lot of questions but I’ll just ask two. Um. First for David, how and when did you find out that you got the part, and when did you decide that Jonas was the one to make the speech in the last episode?
DS: Ah, that’s a pretty good story, because I was at the audition, and that whole story we talked about shortly before, with Tarjei, and I was in his class and he said the first day of school that, “yeah, I’m going to be in this series that’ll be called Skam”, and I was like, “fuck, I didn’t get it”, and then it was, like, blah blah blah, and then I pestered Julie a little. Or, a lot.
JA: And that’s true. He added me on Facebook and just…
DS: And then… What was the question?
UF: When did you get the part?
DS: Yeah. Yes, and then I was at the audition. And then it went to three friends.
JA: Yeah. Maybe. I don’t remember.
DS: Me neither. And then suddenly the phone rang… no, and then you added me on Facebook.
JA: Oh, yeah. Hadn’t we’d been friends all that time and you had been, “yadda yadda”.
DS: No, no, no, no, no. I remember that I was in the bathtub. And then you just added me on Facebook and then I got a bit of butterflies in my belly but I was, like, no, maybe she’s just going to ask me something or other. Uh, and then Tarjei calls me, um, and he’s like [very bad imitation of Tarjei…] “Hello, David, umm, do you fancy a part in Skam, or…?” And then… and then I hung up on him, and then I accepted… Facebook, um… and then…
JA: Yeah, that’s, because he was allowed to call and tell you, that’s how it was.
DS: Yeah, but wasn’t that… you had talked about it, or?
JA: Yeah, he, because I mentioned it to him, and he said, like, [another bad imitation of Tarjei…] “I have to tell him”.
DS: Because we had talked about it a lot, me and Tarjei.
JA: Yeah.
UF: But… about that, you were an extra all through the first and second season. And I remember you as he, that really annoying friend of Tarjei’s. [laughter] Who always, um, you didn’t even have a part, but when you entered a scene, it was like it was your season. [laughter and applauds, David facepalming] But we had a scene where Vilde was picked up because she’d thrown up, I think it was in season one…
JA: Yeah.
UF: …and Julie had to ask you to calm down, because you were, like, we have to call the police, we have to call for an ambulance, and you acted out…
DS: Yeah, that…
UF: …a whole scene about what you were going to do to save Vilde. So when you got the part, I was, like, fuck, then we’ll have to… and then I was told that you were to be my love interest. And then I was like “fuck” again. Like, I wanted William. And then I just got you.
JA: I don't remember you as annoying.
DS: But I understand what Vild, no, Vil, umm, I understand what you mean because I think I tried to make a mark, or, I don’t know. I wanted to make you…
JA: But you did, you got the part.
DS: Mmm.
CP: Now I’ve forgotten what the other question was, it was to you, Julie…
UF: Why…
JA: When…
CP: Yeah, the last, yeah.
JA: I don’t remember. Sometime during the last season… I honestly don’t remember. I thought about it. It wasn’t decided when I wrote the first… It wasn’t like I thought when I wrote that opening monologue, that I thought “Oh, when I finish the series then I’ll end with that”, because I wasn’t planning on ending the series myself. So, sometime during the fourth season.
CP: I think we have time for one more question. Anyone? Back there, in yellow.
Audience member: May I use english?
HH: Of course.
UF: English.
JA: English. Yes.
AM: Um. And you can answer in norwegian. But, is there any character that you wrote, and you imagined them in a specific way, and then an actor came in and completely changed them, or did you let all of the actors kind of form the characters?
JA: Umm. Vilde as a character is a good example of that, because the others who were in to audition for Vilde were a lot closer to how I had imagined the real Vilde. Like, they were a lot more realistic in a way. And then Ulrikke comes in with a comedic talent that is absolutely amazing. So I realise that, okay, this one is a lot cooler than Vilde, but she really understands who Vilde is, so she can play with the character in a very fun way, umm, which I think added a lot of awesomeness to the character. But she was supposed to be more realistic. And I can also say the same about the character of Noora, that she really, that when I imagined Noora when I first started writing her, I saw her, like, more virtuous. And then I felt every time that I saw that character, because in the final interview rounds I interviewed the character, and I just felt like, ugh, she’s… argh, she becomes, like, too virtuous, too boring, I don’t know if I like her. And then Josefine came in, and she’s just so incredibly charming and funny and playful, and I just thought that there’s how the character of Noora will get an extra layer. So the character has kept… she’s still a character of conscience that fights for, or… her story is about a question of ethics. But she does it in a very charming way. So. Did I answer? All the characters have kept their cores, but they have… I have just used all the resources you brought to the best of my ability.
CP: Very good questions. I had just… prepared some if it turned out to be completely silent. One was “Have you got an american accent?''. Imagine, like, Texas…
JA: Uh… I thought… I thought…
CP: No, not that you have it now, no, no, you... you speak norwegian very well, Julie.
JA: Thanks. I got, like, I got a bit unsure there just for a second.
CP: No, if you…
JA: Yeah, no, it’s very little, really. I can say a couple of words that are, like, to charm people, like [worst texan accent ever] “yaw”. That’s… that’s it.
CP: The last question, that I’ve thought about through a lot of the seasons, is Valtersen a name? [laughs] Is it a name?
JA: Isn’t it?
CP: Is it? Do you know anyone with that name?
JA: I don’t know, I haven’t thought about it. Isn’t it possible to be called that?
CP [giggles]: I don’t… I’ve checked with the office for national statistics and there is no one with that name.
JA: Is that true? [applause] Yeah, but… it’s a name, it sounds like it could be a last name?
CP:  Yeah, it definitely sounds like a name.
JA: I’ve invented a new last name.
CP: Yeah. Congratulations.
JA: Someone ought to be called that.
CP [still giggling]: Yeah, yeah, there’s probably someone that’s called that now.
JA: Yeah, that’s true.
CP: But… I think that’s all we had time for, [to the cast] thank you for coming, [to the audience] thank you for coming. [applause] Have a good summer!
Then I’ll just say a final thank you. It looks like no one wants to leave the scene. [to the cast] Thank you for coming to commemorate this event. [to the audience] Thank you to all of you. And many, many thanks to the script group who has given these two scripts to the National Library, for which we are very, very grateful. And thank you for tonight. [applause]

Your Permission to Belong: a Deep Yes and a New Verb: To Matronise.
It turns out we are all imposters, or at least most of us feel we are. Although I knew this - it’s why I wrote a blog about it last month - I am still amazed and troubled that it is true. That so many of us feel like we don’t cut it, even in the context of a group like Mothers Who Make (MWM) that aims to be welcoming, inclusive, accessible. It has left me pondering on the opposite of Imposter Syndrome, on what it is that makes you, me, any of us, feel that we belong, that we have a right to be here. Who says? What or who gives us a sense of permission?
Permission -it’s a difficult word, not the obvious go-to one when on a quest for a sense of belonging. I associate it most immediately with stern, finger-wagging teachers, or ‘keep off the grass’ notices- with authority figures and forces that have the power to deny access. In its origins (Latin, permitere) it means to allow through, to let pass, which is why I think it is the key to our sense of belonging. Before we can belong, there is always a threshold moment, a point at which we are allowed to pass. Imposter Syndrome comes about when you feel you sneaked across the border - you are wandering about without a permit and it is only a matter of time before someone finds you out. No one gave you permission.
This is a top down model. The supplicant asks, waits anxiously to see if permission will be granted or denied by the authorities. It is a hugely powerful model. I still remember the first time I managed to get funding, the money was a minimal sum but far more significant was the feeling that someone had chosen me, had granted me permission to make a piece of work. Given how small the grant was, why couldn’t I have made it anyway?! Because I wanted an external authority to tell me I could. I wanted to be patron-ised.
Whilst, in theory, being a feminist and all, I didn’t agree with the patriarchal structure of this system, I was hopelessly hooked into it. I was a good girl, or desperate to be so, to acquire paternal approval to affirm my right to be or do anything. It has taken me becoming a mother to feel, viscerally, how problematic this top-down model of permission-giving can be.
As someone who had long identified as the supplicant, it was rather a shock, when I became a parent, to find myself in the position of authority- the one to dish out or withhold the permissions, in a hundred small ways, many times a day and I have found it exhausting. Perhaps because of this, I fear I am a permissive parent- I often allow my children to do what they want. Irrespective of what parenting methods you believe in, I think it is significant that being ‘permissive' has negative connotations. To say yes too often is a no-no. When I do say no, I have been struck, as my children grow, by the force of their reactions. They rage at first – which is hard - but then they walk away, which is harder. My daughter goes into a corner. My son has been known to make it out the door and down the lane. Both have told me I am the worst mother in the world and that they are in the wrong family - they don’t belong (their shared sense of melodrama is evidence to the contrary, but I refrain from putting this to them in the moment). My daughter is particularly sensitive to any of her wishes, ideas, words not being given full approval. Her back rounds, her head bows, the tears start. Sometimes this happens, not when I have frowned at her, but when I have condoned her brother. She is convinced that it is impossible for me to love her if I also love him. In other words, if she is to belong, she feels someone else must be left out- her inclusion only counts if he has been excluded. Needless to say, I find this very distressing. This is not what I want for her or her brother. And this is not what I want for MWM. I do not want to lead a movement that makes people feel left out, or as if they are imposters, one that furthers the dominant narrative around belonging- that some are allowed in, while others aren’t. What to do?
I remember back to a project I ran before Mothers Who Make called Permission Improbable, a play on the macho action spy movies, Mission: Impossible.  The project, which I lead through Improbable, had the modest ambition of changing the world by supporting more women and non-binary people to improvise. Improvising, at its heart, is a game of permission-giving. In the absence of a writer or director - the usual authority figures - you have to practice giving your permission, saying yes, to the other players, the audience, to yourself- your impulses, feelings, thoughts. You never say no. It is not that every patch of grass in an impro scene can be trampled on, but rather that if someone puts up a ‘Do Not Walk Here’ sign everyone on stage says ‘yes’ to it, to the idea of it being part of the story. How ever many lawns are out of bounds, there is a deeper yes always at work- a common ground beneath the turf.
This presents a different model of permission-giving, not top-down, but reciprocal, and unconditional. We say yes to each other, and we say it together, without deliberation. Saying this deep yes to our ideas and impulses is not easy. We have been schooled to look outside ourselves, and upwards, for permission, and we have been trained to say ‘no’- sometimes with good reason. Sometimes ‘no’ keeps us alive. However too many ‘no’s may keep us less alive than we might be. It takes practice to say ‘yes’ but it is worth practicing. Arguably it is THE practice - the only thing you ever really have to practice, as a maker, as a mother- saying a deep “Yes.”

I remember there was a time as a teenager when I ruthlessly dismissed my mother’s opinion of anything I did. She was my mum, massively biased - she’d always think what I had made was good so her positive feedback didn’t count. Retrospectively I disagree with my teenage self - I believe my mother’s validation of me counted hugely. I think it always counts. There is a place for discernment, but not at the expense of the first, fundamental practice, the ‘yes’ that gets us over the threshold.
When framed in this way, I actually think I need to be more permissive with my children. I need to practice, every day, saying a deep ‘yes’ to them, even or especially in the moments I am not allowing them to do something. As their mother I am their initial threshold, my body was the border they crossed into life. It is my task to say ‘yes’ to them. Yes, you are allowed to be here. Yes, you belong. I realise the children, in their own way, always say this kind of deep ‘Yes’ back to me, even when they are telling me I am the worst mother in the world. I believe that if I can engage in this reciprocal, unconditional model of permission-giving, it can result in a form of belonging that is not ‘in’ or ‘out’, inclusion/ exclusion - not another binary, but an ongoing dynamic process called community. And that is how I want to run Mothers Who Make, and in particular how I want to run our ‘Matronage’ membership scheme.
Let me do a brief re-cap on the Matronage story for anyone who doesn’t know it. In 2019, after a year of writing funding applications for MWM to councils, trusts (the UK patrons of the arts) and receiving no money - money being the major way in which permission is granted or denied in our culture - I was tired. I wanted to find a way to sustain the movement that was in line with the movement, that supported women/ non-binary carers to support themselves and one another, so I launched the Matronage scheme - if we could reach 300 Matron Saints, paying £1 to 10 per month, we could just about keep going. So far, a year on, we have 150.
My vision for Matronage is to see if it is possible to run a membership scheme powered entirely by the impulse to include, not by patronising ‘exclusive, members-only offers.’ I want to build a scheme that is accessible to anyone, no matter their financial status. There are benefits for signing up as a MWM Matron, but the primary, underlying one is that in doing so you are performing a radical act of permission-giving. It is a way to say a deep, resounding YES, to yourself and to others who care about creating and create whilst caring. Yes, you have a right to be here, Yes, your caring matters, Yes, your making matters too. And, yes, if you are reading this, you belong, no matter what your gender identity is, what your making practice is or isn’t, no matter whether you have children or not. Because, whilst it is important to practice saying ‘yes’ to yourself and your ideas, I do not think it is possible to do it all alone. We do need permission from outside ourselves, but we can give it to each other. Even if, like me, you do not identify as being someone important enough to hand out a permit, actually you are- I see it every time I run a MWM meeting or Mother Den. We can allow each other to pass through to a place of belonging, and it is a practice - we must do it over and over again. Let’s call this process ‘being matronised.’
To become a Matron Saint, you can pay anything from £1 per month to £10 per month - you choose. Most people pay £3, but if you can afford it £5 or £10 is brilliant. If you can’t £1 is fine. And if you cannot afford any monetary contribution then you can get in touch and we can playfully, joyfully, shamelessly, work out another kind of offering that you can make. Money is the fastest, and ironically often the cheapest way of saying ‘yes!’ but there are many others.
For now, when you become a Matron Saint you can:
-Attend as many International MWM peer support meetings as you like.*
-Attend as many Mother Dens as you like.*
-Attend any of the MWM Specials.*
-Write a Matron Saint interview, published online, celebrating you and your caring and creating.
-Apply to our Mother Pot commissioning fund once we reach 300 Matron Saints (when this happens a month of our Matronage will go back out to the matrons).
-Take part in our peer-mentoring scheme when I manage to launch it (watch this space!)
-Last but not least, you will give yourself and others permission. Permission to step over whichever thresholds you are teetering on. Permission to belong. And here is a new idea to make this tangible: when you become a Matron I would like to post you a ‘book of permissions,’ a living document to which you can add and which you will pass on to the next Matron, and so and so forth - a way to matronise one another. Such a list reminds me of what is apparently the nation’s favourite poem - Warning- the one in which the poet (Jenny Joseph) lists the outrageous things she will permit herself to do when she grows old - wear purple, pick flowers in other peoples’ gardens, learn to spit. I want to read your equivalent lists for now - let’s not wait till we grow any older.
Here, then, are your questions for the month, and I hope you will feel able to sign up as a Matron, invite others to do so (all genders welcome, non-mothers too), and write your answers in the new MWM book:
What do you need in order to feel you belong? What permission are you waiting for? Can you give it to yourself? Can you give it to others? Can you say a resounding ‘Yes’ to whatever it is you want to create in this world?
