I like TMBG more, but I think LW&JSC speaks to me more, if that makes sense?
#make no mistake LW was extremely talented and made great songs#but TMBG is better executed in a lot of ways#both songwriting and production wise#However I think that Whitehurst's je ne sais quoi-#his interests song subjects tone performance style sense of humor etc-#I find a lot more relatable.#Yes naturally they have similar qualities given the former was a huge insp for the latter#but every time I think about it its like.#Random cut and paste sound samples.#Homestar runner ass casio beats.#Imaginary snowman friend band member with his own lore.#Why didn't I think about that (muttering pacing back and forth)#maybe some of that relatability might be attributed to the fact he was about 20 years younger than the johns?#usually having a favorite artist IMPLIES that they speak to you more but yeah#I just find that neat#or maybe I shouldnt be playing favorites to begin with because its not that clear cut#whatever.
