Okay, I'm going to show you the holes in RWBY's worldbuilding by using physics. I got some concept arts and the infos on official RWBY wiki, I'm going to calculate Atlas's height above ground, as well as the temperature difference, atmospheric pressure, and oxygen density at such an insane height.
Mind u, that Atlas academy is 1000m tall and it has 212 floors. Look closer, the Atlas academy tower is just a small peak on this floating island.

im not saying this to come at you, as a bengal owner myself (though i do not plan to purchase any more of them), but aren’t there issues of ethicality surrounding the bengal breed as well, because of their wild cat blood? in particular ive heard stories from vets online regarding the fact that they do not handle visits the way fully domestic animals do and can be dangerous as a result. i see this in my own bengal as well despite his coming from a reliable and reputable breeder and regularly receiving comments from vets that he is very well behaved for the breed. despite being generations down, the wild blood has a clear effect on how well he handles shots, flea treatments, etc. however, outside of vets, very few people seem to actually discuss this matter in relation to the breed. i had personally not even thought about it until i saw them compared to wolfdogs, so i thought to bring it up to you in case you were the same.
Hey there anon, it's no trouble at all! I'll split this into two parts. It's gonna be a long one, so take a look under the cut for my answers (and a very cute photo of Kep).
The question about aggression is interesting to me, as I've never actually heard of bengal-specific aggression before. To vetblr and catblr, what are your experiences with bengal aggression? Do you find the breed leans one way or another?
On that note, let's look at aggression. Like I said, this ask is actually the first I've ever heard of bengal cats being aggressive! Of all the bengal owners I've talked to, both breeders and your average folk, none mentioned anything about human or cat aggression in bengals. As a high energy breed, bengals are known to be environmentally destructive when understimulated, but I can't find anything supported by science stating the breed is any more or less human/cat aggressive than your regular tabby. In talking to both my vet and acquaintances that work at vet clinics, they've all only had positive things to share about bengal personalities.
In my own F7 bengal experience Kepler is as sweet as a button, and even in high stress situations like parties or vet visits he is calm and friendly. He's never had issues with shots, ultrasounds, flea treatments, or handling from the vet. (Dave my domestic shorthair, on the other hand, needs multiple drugs including complete anesthetic to prevent him from hurting himself or veterinary staff, and has a greater history of aggressive behaviour). I actually purchased Kepler because the bengal personality seemed a lot safer and more consistent than adopting a dsh from the shelter and risking owning two aggressive cats.
(A photo of Kepler at the fear free vet, allowing them to lay him on his back for an ultrasound and urine collection.)
Regarding ethics, the issue most look to is the Wild x Domestic cross of the asian leopard cat and domestic shorthair. In the United States and other countries with lax animal welfare laws, poaching and private ownership of servals to create the Savannah breed is an ongoing issue, so it makes sense to want to apply the same logic to bengals.
The reason the cross is not an issue to me personally is that the bengal is considered a "closed breed" under the TICA and CFA, meaning that breeders can no longer register and show <F4 bengals or create new bengal bloodlines by outcrossing to the asian leopard cat. As of this change reputable registered bengals are considered a fully domestic cat and not a wild cross.
(The CFA breed standard stating no bengal can be outcrossed to asian leopard cats.)
This means that so long as you source your pet from a registered and reputable breeder, you are not contributing to the poaching or the unethical breeding of wild mixes. It's a fantastic inclusion, as it also actively discourages people from poaching, owning and breeding wildlife. It also makes it clear to potential cat owners like myself which breeders to avoid (ie. those that don't register or show their "bengals").
As an Albertan Canadian I also have further peace of mind as it is illegal for people in this province to own or import wildlife or wild mixes F4 or below, so there is no chance of getting a poached cat (or its offspring) unless I went to the black market or a particularly shady breeder.
Are there people in the United States and other countries that still cross domestics with ALCs? Most definitely. But I personally don't think that owning a cat that is;
Purchased from a reputable breeder;
Barred by law to be a recent outcross; and
Registered under a cat fancy that discourages outcrossing
actively supports modern poaching or unethical wildlife ownership. Cat fancy has taken steps to minimize the harm of bengal breeding and ownership on wildlife while still preserving a bit of cat history. Those steps are sufficient enough for me to be comfortable with it, and I hope that breeds like the savannah cat follow in their footsteps with a closed breed standard.
That being said, if the history of the bengal upsets you or is something that rubs you the wrong way, I wouldn't fault you for it. Wildlife and animal welfare is a bit of a tricky business, and it's not always black and white. Just make sure to do your research and be open to multiple opinions. I appreciate you reaching out to me, and I hope my own thoughts have given you something to think about, even if you don't agree. Cheers!
#long post#like super long#im so sorry lmao#thanks for the ask!#cat breeds#bengals#i love bengals#i could go on forever about bengals#bengals are the light of my life#(and dave too i also love him)#apologies if that sounded at all condescending that wasn't my intention#i just get really into talking about cats

Hello, what do you think about the aeon animation that is on YouTube. Why is there so much drama on Twitter, both the Aeon fans and the Cleon fans also got involved. For the Reldfield lineage jokes and Racism for ada. The animator aeon turns out to be Asian too. I don't know, I don't like jokes either, but he said he was going to change it later when he saw the drama there was (I hope). And I don't feel sorry for him either because I see that he gave him love and contract loudly, and he got a lot of hate and people were very bad with their words on Twitter, which I fear will discourage him a little and he won't do anything. more things related to aeon, and leads to something worse, suicide. Because I know of cases like this in fandon.
okay this is a long response incoming (talks about misogyny and racism)
so i wanna preface that i did watch the animation and i did watch their response video and i did see a BIT of the "backlash" on twitter and while im not active on twitter (i just lurk) i did see a few of the main complaints/criticisms/hate but i also saw LOTS of praise and people who enjoyed the animation
i don't know anything about cleon fans getting involved so i won't say anything there since i didn't see any of that
from what i could tell (and im just assuming and inferring) that the creator is asian AND from asia. and the only reason why i'm pointing this out is because there's already going to be a disparity between how we understand what it means to be racist and misogynistic and how HE understands it to mean. and that's not already including how some of his sentiments are very conservative in thinking "being a gentleman etc" you can still be a misogynist while "being a gentlemen"
the main point of contention was the "this is not racist and not misogynistic because this is comedy and i am also asian"
so i'm breaking down my three things
while i don't think it was overtly racist, the "joke" of chris calling Ada a "chinese woman," isn't incorrect but is rooted in a derogatory manner. when someone for example is east asian and making this "joke," it can run flat or not come across as funny anymore because we've literally heard this "joke" for over a decade. (lots of asian comedians make self deprecating jokes or comedy about being asian, this is fine IF THE JOKE WORKS)
misogyny is an IDEOLOGY and i don't believe that EVERYONE is a misogynist but EVERYONE is CAPABLE of having misogynist mindsets, theories, ideals, and more. i think that it's very easy for people online to throw the word misogynist when someone else points out behaviour that they don't like or perceive as innappropriate. while i personally wouldn't call the creator a misogynist, i would just mention that calling oneself "old fashioned" and "a gentleman" doesn't excuse you from potentially having misogynist mindsets.
the styles of comedy is so vast at this point and whereas some comedians had grown their audiences over overtly offensive and racist material, a lot of these comedians are well.. dead. or their comedy has died or their routines are just not used anymore. i don't think there's ALWAYS something wrong with offensive material, (people make offensive jokes but are still funny sometimes) but it's GOTTA LAND. comedy is ONLY the excuse and can work if it WORKS. and i don't know how many times i can "laugh" at (the bloodline) joke. (it was once.)
now to bring all three points in. the bloodline "joke" is rooted in misogyny and racism. the idea of having claire be bound to this extension of a bloodline is an extremely old and pointless theory that all MAN needs to have their bloodline continue. imma be honest - no one is important enough to have a kid or a legacy. the "joke" is also usually paired with chris calling ada just a chinese woman or making some sort of remark on how he would "make claire chinese" in some capacity so that leon would date her. and this furthers the sexualization of asian people and whole "leon has a fetish for asian people" which i thought was only funny cause he asked shen may out for dinner, but i still hold the opinion that he was just asking for food lmao)
while i don't think the creator handled the criticism/hate 100% appropriately. (the video response was a bit 2010s tumblr era wow i can't believe you guys don't understand my humour) i do appreciate that they are taking some time away for their mental health and i do think everyone needs to step away occasionally just to like - be normal and not online
and i do appreciate that they are taking some of the response into consideration (rewriting the story a bit since apparently this change is necessary from the previous story they had) i'm not gonna lie, if every single episode was just aeon people cute and chris doing the EXACT SAME JOKE, it was going to get OLD REALLY FAST.
i'll be honest, there aren't a lot of re content creators that focus on aeon and i do think we as a community need to lift others up. and while you may not agree with every single sentiment that the other person makes, you shouldn't just cast aside the entire creator because of a singular thing they did
do i like the joke? no. i've never really liked the joke. to be completely honest i skipped over chris' part entirely because i felt as though the "joke" didn't land and i've seen it a million times. it's not funny, it doesn't add anything, it's a literal plot device because the creator "wanted something funny" but it didn't WORK.
tl;dr
i don't like the "joke," i don't think it's funny.

character analysis: nxx investigation team, biological family, found family
wc: 1.1k
disclaimer: spoilers for character backstories within and i can no longer remember if it's in future cn server or global server, also these are all just my OWN interpretations and opinions, also it's 7:30AM here and i wrote this very quickly
so the biogical families (aka families related by blood) of everybody in the nxx investigation team are hugely fascinating to me. this is because each of their biological families creates a character that would LOVE to have the found family (aka people who are not biologically related coming to form very close bonds with each other) trope
lemme go thru everybody one by one
marius is the most obvious. the von hagen family isnt just a huge presence in society but a huge presence in his life. hes never just been marius hes always been marius von hagen. his family has a history and thanks to circumstances (cough, giann just blooping off of the face of the earth, cant wait to see u, giann!!!) a huge responsibility has been put on marius' shoulders to continue what the family does whether he likes it or not. in some card stories, it is implied that marius is seen by others as the weakest link in the von hagen family. hes a brat hes a kid he doesnt know what hes doing. marius is bombarded with responsibility and people doubting if he can follow through.
artem is a bit more lowkey than marius but his biological family also has a history. both his parents are also renowned lawyers and if im not mistaken, it was mentioned somewhere that those parents had Huge Expectations for him in terms of success and shit. his responsibility to carry on the family history is more muted than marius' but also more consistent, if that makes sense? marius had to be a von hagen only after giann disappeared while artem had to be a wing since he was a kid. the responsibility on artem's shoulders is both something that was placed onto him and something he perpetuates himself.
the above two are examples of biological families with a legacy, so to speak. it's clear that marius and artem, despite their family, worked hard independently to be the competent people they are today. their success is because of them. but one of the reasons why they had to go to do that is partly because they know that they dont exist in a vaccuum. they arent just their own person. they are a member of their last name's legacy.
(which, sidenote: marius and artem's family shit is, among the boys, the most glaringly culturally asian to me, HAHA. ofc i cant speak for all asians, but personally as a south east asian, the attitude of "carrying on the family legacy" and "you are not just you, you are your biological family" is just. ive seen those types of families, ive met them. hell, im IN ONE. moving on.)
vyn is a bit trickier. SPOILERS AHEAD, but vyn is the son of a duke, lol. hes a fuckin royal blood. absolute hilarity to me but he obviously hated it and made a choice to actively leave it. he did not erase his biological family history, he just skedaddled from it. noped himself out of there and then established himself as an individual independent from his royal bloodline. the background of his family is hugely still apparent in him but he doesnt rely on them and doesnt do anything for them as well. this is his life now, he seems to be saying. fuck off, he says as well, elegantly.
luke is depressing, but whats new. his biological family was ripped away from him the moment his parents died and he became an orphan. in a literal sense, he has no more blood history. theres no legacy, theres no responsibility, theres no past Pearce to call on. of course, he did get taken in by mc's family and that did come with its own set of history and legacy, but it's a bit different because he was adopted (and bc mc's fam history is...well, thats in the next paragraph). but yeah, luke doesnt have a biological history.
and lastly, mc. mc's family (aside from growing up with luke) is largely left up to interpretation. her parents were there during childhood and at some point disappeared for a "secret government research" which lord, i hope that gets addressed at some point jKBJSKF. but mc has some kind of biological history. we just dont get to see it.
vyn, luke, and mc have biological family situations that are more focused on the Lack Of It. vyn left, luke lost, and mc just has [REDACTED] over hers. they all, like marius and artem, establish themselves independently and work hard to be who they are now but theres less of a looming shadow of family legacy over them.
so whats this about found family?
i love nxx investigation team found family. ever since i started playing this game, i wanted all five of these idiots to come and love each other one way or another. but looking at all of their biological families, it makes me even happier because now i realize that these five idiots would very much enjoy a found family.
heres the thing (among many things) about found family that sets itself out from biological family: it's a blank slate that can only be written on by the members of the unit.
biological family, well, thats been there before you were even born. you can write the future, but the past is set in stone. you can make choices on how to deal with it but you cant change what has already happened. found family is a collaborative effort of a new history. a new chapter. one where everybody present has not only the choice but the power to make whatever this is mean whatever they want it to mean.
to metaphorize: biological family does not dictate who you are but their fingerprints, so to speak, will always be on you. found family also does not dictate who you are, but for once, theres no fingerprints of the past. it's new and youve got a say somehow in how the love of it can play out.
i feel like all of them need this. a blank page that can be built from the bottom up. no legacies or histories or lacks or whatever. just like
a bunch of people stumbling into the nxx hq and eventually, one by one, saying to themselves "yeah, im gonna ride or die for these idiots."
and then setting forth to write their story together.
