Holti's journey of falling in love with his now-fiancé Ikooko was actually purely coincidental (OR WAS IT????????. looks at their unsundered selves also ridiculously in love way back when and all the parallels there but ahyway-!)

It was thanks to one of Holti's friends he was doing a courier delivery for that he happened across Ikooko- a shy and socially anxious Xaela from the Steppe that had seen Far Too Much which is what brought him to Eorzea. After giving him the goods he had ordered, Holti could see plain as day this guy wasn't managing and hadn't even dared set foot in Gridania itself on account of it being too populated, so being the social butterfly and good samaritan Holti is, he offered to give the Xaela a tour around the city by his side, promising not to leave it, and so that was their first date together.

Being side by side quickly became the comfortable norm, the pair supporting each other whenever they needed it, understanding each other more as time passed and they adventured together. New truths were learned and shared such as Holti's viera nature and Echo but this only served to stregthen their bond.

The hardest test was when the pair were separated when Holti was dragged into the First but they reunited as soon as time allowed for it and have sworn not to let the other be left alone like that again...

Ikooko since proposed to Holti on 4 different occasions (to which he's always said yes) and they plan to hold a wedding when the world isnt in peril... for a few minutes at least.

They're gay your honour.

I could go on at length about them and even their unsundered selves falling in love but that's a story for another day... even if that would TECHNICALLY be the 'first' time... 🤔
