☆ warnings: bro-code violations (it's up for debate if reader is fair game); mature language; mentions of alcohol; virgin shaming to some extent; the word wh*re being mentioned
☆ synopsis: You're Namjoon's girl – kind of. So why does Yoongi, who has never been too fond of people in the first place, get that weird feeling in the pit of his stomach around you? And most importantly, why can't he seem to stop himself from falling for you when you're supposed to be off-limits anyway?
☆ navigation: pt.1 | pt.2

☆ a/n: Hi there! I'm back after an almost 6-month hiatus, and this was supposed to be out for Yoongi's birthday, but I guess this is my gift to you in celebration of my birthday now as well lol though also a week too late to that lmao And since it's gotten kinda long, I spontaneously decided to divide it into two parts which also gives me more time to finish up the last few lines oops As always, I hope you enjoy reading. If you do – thank you! Lmk how you like it, I love feedback ♡
(P.S. special shout-out to whoever can guess which album they're talking about in the record shop scene!)
(also P.S. I'm part of a fun, little Discord server created by the dearest @kooala where we share our favorite fics, simp over our biases, etc. and we'd love for it to grow. If you're looking for a cool place to connect with people and discuss anything K-pop, feel free to join here ♡)

There aren't a lot of things in the world that catch Yoongi's attention. He's most interested in music, creating his own little world as the beat becomes one with that of his heart. Basketball is another interest of his, the satisfying swish of the rubber globe falling through the hoop like music to his ears.
One thing is for sure though, and that is people aren't at the top of his list – meeting new people, that is. There's only a handful of people he actively cares about in his own aloof kind of way. Human interaction isn't his forté, so he's more than thankful that the people he does hold dear to his heart understand his weird antics. He would have a hard time admitting it, but losing even one of them would tear him apart. Breaking his hand-signed vinyl copy of Kendrick Lamar's DAMN. in half would hurt less, he concludes.
Having his set group of friends also means that the idea of adding another person fills him with frustration. For as long as he can remember, it has always been him, Namjoon, Hoseok, and Seokjin. No one else but him and his three best friends since childhood days. He convinces himself it's already too late to add another person into the mix anyway, almost two decades of friendship making it impossible for anyone to feel remotely comfortable among the four of them. But not everyone shares the same belief from the looks of it.
"I hope that's okay," Namjoon probes, hands buried in the front pockets of his chino pants as he leans against the red-brick façade of the faculty building behind him.
"More than fine by me," Hoseok drawls while running a hand through his chestnut hair. "Maybe you should worry about Grumpy Cat over here." His lips pull into a half-smirk.
At the mention of the all-too-familiar nickname, Yoongi peels his gaze from the concrete steps he's sitting on, turning towards his friends. "Why? Think I'm gonna rip someone's head off with my sharp fangs?"
"The risk is minimal, but never zero," Seokjin states in amusement, the hand curled around his iced coffee lifting into the air in emphasis.
The eldest's comment draws a scoff out of the man in question. Yoongi has grown used to the light punches at his reserved persona and granted, he would feel weird if the teasing stopped at some point. No matter how old the jokes have gotten.
"What am I? The mom in the group that tells you no all the time and grounds you for no good reason?" he grumbles, fixing the snapback covering his platinum-blond tresses.
"No," Hoseok retorts, "you're more like the uncle with the shotgun that everyone's secretly afraid of."
The group exchanges words in agreement leaving Yoongi with nothing but an annoyed glare. As the commotion dies down, he sighs in defeat. "It's fine or whatever. You already invited them anyway."
Namjoon nods, his face lighting up ever so slightly. "Okay, cool. You won't even notice she's there."
"She? You invited a girl?" Yoongi exclaims in confusion, loud enough to catch the attention of other students lingering around.
"Ah, Yoongi... You weren't paying attention again, were you?" Seokjin playfully nudges his friend in the elbow with the tip of his suede shoe. "Namjoon invited this girl to hang out tonight because he has a thing for her but is too afraid to ask her out on a proper date."
"Hey! That's not what it is," Namjoon grumbles, adjusting the black-rimmed glasses sliding down the slope of his nose.
"But you think she's hot?" Hoseok probes with a raised eyebrow.
The youngest barely responds, a breathy chuckle and a hand scratching at the nape of his neck enough of an indicator.
"That answers that."
Yoongi absentmindedly toys with a pebble, creating white marks as he scrapes it across the concrete surface. Who in the world invites a random girl to hang out with a bunch of strange dudes? he thinks to himself, the scratches becoming harsher until there's nothing but wild scribbles.
"Can you stop fussing around already?"
Namjoon mumbles out a quick apology to Hoseok beside him, immediately halting the shaky movement of his leg.
It hasn't even been five minutes since the quartet arrived at the movie theater, awaiting the arrival of the youngest's secret date.
"It's not a date," he fends when Seokjin teases him again, a hand running through his short – notably freshly cut – hair. "She's a friend, and I invited her out because– Oh! She's here." As he practically jumps up from his seat on the black leather couch, Namjoon storms towards the entrance.
"Not a date my ass," Hoseok comments, earning an affirmative chuckle from the eldest.
With the rest of the group rising from their seats, Yoongi reluctantly follows lead, hands immediately finding harbor in the pockets of his jeans.
"Oh, she's pretty," Seokjin muses to which Hoseok hums out in confirmation.
As Yoongi's focus finally shifts from the dark blue carpeted floor to his friend and the stranger standing next to him, he raises a brow. Yeah, she's pretty, he thinks to himself. At first glance. Yoongi isn't one to be easily swayed by looks though, so he mindlessly trails behind the other two.
"Guys," Namjoon turns towards the others, "this is _____. _____, these are my friends."
You beam a friendly smile at Seokjin who is the first one to extend his hand out to you, shaking it lightly before letting you move on to Hoseok.
Yoongi is slightly taken aback when your eyes land on him, nothing but warmth emitting from them. Usually, no one ever even dares any attempts at approaching his cold exterior. When he gives you his name, he swears your grin grows impossibly wider. Who in the world has the energy to be this friendly?
"Alright," Hoseok starts, "why don't you guys"–he nods towards you and Namjoon–"go get some snacks while we buy the tickets?"
The group separates as suggested with you and Namjoon heading towards the snack bar while Yoongi follows Hoseok and Seokjin to the ticket booth. Stealing a glance at his friend, he silently scoffs at the sight. You're deep in conversation, head lolling back in laughter at something Namjoon says. He finds your reaction so over the top. Sure, Namjoon can crack some jokes from time to time, but it almost looks like you're losing it. It's such a weird sight, and your clashing outfits underline that. You stand out in your yellow, ruffled top and cherry-red Vans against the beige and white hues of Namjoon's ensemble, the same shade of red showing up on your nail beds and the tint on your lips. This is definitely a date, he concludes. And now we have to play wingman. Great.
When the group gathers again to exchange tickets and snacks, Yoongi slightly flinches in surprise as someone thrusts a bag of popcorn in his face.
"Another salty popcorn enthusiast, I heard?" You smile up at him, the telltale rustling noise of popped kernels sounding as you lightly shake the bag.
Taking it with hesitant hands, Yoongi manages to muster up a nod, murmuring out a quick Thank you.
"Salty popcorn is barbaric," Hoseok's voice blares, breaking the unknown tension. "All it does is make you thirsty."
"Oh, allow me to prove you wrong," you counter with a wicked grin, eliciting a laugh from the man.
Throughout your discussion on why salty popcorn is superior, Yoongi doesn't realize he's been behind you this entire time until the five of you are looking for your respective seats in your assigned row. Now he has no other choice but to sit in the middle with you to his right. Fantastic.
Once the movie commences, the entire room falls silent lest the occasional rustling and crunching noises surrounding Yoongi. Absentmindedly taking a big gulp from his blueberry slushy, he proceeds to put it into the cup holder compartment of his chair when suddenly his hand comes into contact with another one.
"Oh, I'm so sorry!"
As he retracts his hand in a flash, he turns his head towards the source of the voice, the outlines of your facial features becoming visible via the blue flashes reflecting off of the screen. "Ah, you're fine," he manages out, the hold on his plastic cup tightening.
His focus is back on the opening sequence when someone invades his space once again.
"Do you want some?"
With furrowed brows, Yoongi's vision steers to the side, your hand holding a package of strawberry flavored Pockys coming into sight. "Uh..." Hesitantly, his eyes flicker from your hand to your face, then back to your hand. "Y-yeah, sure." He takes two of the chocolate sticks, mumbling out a stunned Thank you while he munches on them.
It's an unusual scene – not once has Yoongi come across someone this unhinged and outgoing without inhibition towards him as a stranger with what people call a resting bitch face. Usually, people don't even dare an attempt at building some sort of a connection with him. This leaves him wondering about you: are you always like this or is this all an act in order to stay in Namjoon's good books?
The setting sun outside serves enough light to guide the group through town, yet not enough to cause any discomfort after having spent the last two hours in complete darkness. Namjoon with his sensitive eyes in particular is thankful for that.
"Anybody else hungry?" Seokjin inquires, craning his neck as he takes a look at everyone individually.
"How can you be hungry again?" Hoseok blurts. "You had part of my half of the popcorn after annihilating yours – and then an entire pack of...what was it? Skittles? M&Ms?"
"Both," Seokjin announces proudly. "These were to tend to my sweet tooth though. Now it's time to satiate my savory needs."
Hoseok rolls his eyes at the eldest's response. "Can you believe this guy?" He turns to the rest before a sigh passes his lips. "Alright, I could go for something."
As everyone else hums out affirmative answers, the group settles on their go-to diner for classic burgers and fries.
"So, _____," Hoseok starts, a hefty sandwich haphazardly lodged in between his hands, "how come you know this guy over here?" With a tilt of his head, he gestures towards Namjoon.
You hum as you take a bite of your portion of fries. "Oh, we have the same major. We're also tutoring a class together this semester."
"Someone who matches his intellect, I see," Hoseok answers, a hint of a smirk hidden behind the large patty.
You don't get a chance to chime in when Seokjin continues, "Do you have a boyfriend?"
How subtle. It comes like second nature to Yoongi, a roll of his eyes a common reaction in a situation like this. It's when your eyes meet for a second, the corners of your lips curling upwards in an amused manner that he realizes his rather obvious slip-up.
"No," you chuckle with a shake of your head.
"Girlfriend?" the eldest follows up shortly, several expressions going around the table ranging from awkward laughter to annoyed sighs, the latter most notably sounding from Namjoon and Yoongi.
"Also no," you simply reply.
Seokjin shrugs his shoulders. "Can't hurt to ask."
"Why? Are you interested?"
Yoongi can't help but cackle at how the words leave your lips in such a deadpan yet entertained way, and for a second he's worried the others notice his change in demeanor. Your counter has the eldest choking on his drink though as he erupts into his characteristic windshield-wiper laugh, catching everyone's attention as Seokjin furiously wipes the bottom of his chin covered in soda.
"What happened to the standard ice breakers like What do you like to do in your free time or What's your take on mint chocolate ice cream?" you probe further, lips curling around the straw of your drink.
"Mint choco? Not a fan," Hoseok retorts, his face contorting into a disgusted grimace.
"Also hate it," Seokjin chimes in now with Namjoon following suit, the youngest going as far as mimicking puking noises.
As Yoongi makes no move of joining in on the conversation, you carry on, "Am I the odd one out here again? Guys, this could determine the future of our entire friendship if there's ever gonna be one."
The group erupts into laughter at that until Yoongi decides to come to the rescue. "I like it," he mumbles out nonchalantly with his arms crossed in front of him on the table.
"Thank you!" You turn to him, eyes sparkling in surprise at his sudden contribution. "At least someone with taste."
For the rest of the night, Yoongi can't help but steal glances at you and his best friend across the table, studying your interactions. They look cute together, he thinks to himself. As far as I can tell. And from what he can see it's easy for you to engage in conversation with the other guys as well, effortlessly exchanging quips and revealing facts about yourself. Yet, Yoongi can't seem to figure you out. Namjoon invited you out to hang out with his friends. Of course, you're going to be nice to everyone including him. Nothing to worry about, and as far as he's concerned if you happen to fake it he doesn't care. He never cared.
When you catch sight of him inspecting you, your lips curl into a small smile causing him to avert his eyes as fast as humanly possible. Awkward.
After everyone finishes their meal, you step back outside to say your goodbyes, the cold breeze of the night air brushing past.
"You sure you don't want me to walk you home?" Namjoon inquires, his stare set on you.
"Nah, it's fine," you decline, shaking your head as a shiver runs through you. "My friends are around in the area. They said they can pick me up."
He solemnly nods at your words, pulling you into a half-hug before stepping aside.
"It was really nice meeting you, _____. And hopefully, we'll get to see you again soon," Seokjin notes.
You send the eldest a pleasant smile, waving him off before doing the same to the other two.
When your eyes land on Yoongi, the man in question musters up a meek smirk and when you practically outshine him with a bright beam, he catches himself almost cursing. How are you so fucking friendly?
"So," Namjoon turns to the group once your silhouette disappears into the backseat of a black car pulling up at the curb, uncertainty clear in his features, "what do you think?"
"I like her," Hoseok is the first one to answer.
"Yeah, me too," Seokjin joins in.
It's quiet for an instance before everyone's eyes turn to Yoongi in anticipation.
"What?" the man grumbles, hands burying into his front pockets. "You need my blessing or something? She's alright, I guess."
Hoseok huffs, patting the youngest on the shoulder. "That's the most you're gonna get."
The mellow sounds of some lo-fi hip-hop song paint the perfect atmosphere while Yoongi scours around the store. It's like a safe haven for him, a place where he can replenish his power after a straining week of classes and assignments, unbothered and undisturbed. With swift fingers, he browses through the plethora of record sleeves in search for –
"Oh, hey!"
A somewhat familiar but also not-so-familiar voice startles him. Lifting his eyes from the rows of vinyls before him, you come into sight, cheeks risen into globes as you send him a bright smile. "H-hi," he croaks out, slightly confused. For some reason, the record shop is the spot he least expects to run into you. He's not sure why, but you don't strike him as a person to enjoy these things – though he knows little to nothing about you.
"Any good finds?" you inquire, head tilted to the side as you roam through the selection on your side.
"Uh..." he trails, "yeah, actually." Eyeing you for an instance, he ponders whether to elaborate or not. But why would you ask if you weren't interested? "I was looking for"–pulling out the record in question, he holds it up for you to see–"this one."
"Oh my God!" you exclaim as your eyes land on the colorful cover, splotches of pink and orange mingling with blue and purple hues. "It's such a good album. I waited ten years for this, but it's so worth it."
Stunned, Yoongi sends you a look he's sure he's never given anyone before. "You know it?"
"Yeah," you answer nonchalantly, "track number seven and eight are my favorites. Oh, and also–"
Yoongi flinches slightly when you lean forward until he catches onto your action, flipping the record around to let you check the tracklist on the back of the sleeve.
"–track number four. I'm a sucker for movie sound clips." You beam him a bright smile before continuing, "I'm a fan of Act I and II especially, and the features are expertly chosen." Retreating to your initial position, you finish, "Overall, one hour of excellence I can only recommend."
Yoongi regards you as if you just found the solution for world peace. He didn't expect you to be so enthusiastic about music – let alone hip-hop. You don't strike him as a person to enjoy this type of genre, but who is he to judge a book by its cover? "More of a reason to check it out then," he finally replies with a light chuckle after listening to your rambles. When you grant him another smile of yours just to return to your own business, he continues, "What have you got there?" A little small talk shouldn't hurt, right? After all, you're being exceptionally nice to him, so he should reciprocate.
Your eyes dart down to the vinyls lodged in between your folded arm. "Oh, just a random mix. Some rock, some pop, some R&B." Pulling your shoulders up into a shrug, you finish, "All kinds of things."
He nods in understanding. It's such a superficial thought, but he never imagined you to be so enthusiastic and versatile with your music taste. Not that he ever wondered in the first place, but he knows essentially nothing about you. Hearing about your interest in music piques his interest in you in turn though – on a friendly level, of course.
It comes naturally, falling into conversation about your favorite artists and albums, giving each other recommendations, and it's not long before you step out of the store together after paying for your purchases.
"Which way are you going?" you ask with a hand shielding your eyes from the midday sun, the light adorning your face in a yellow glow.
Yoongi hums out in thought. "I gotta stop by Namjoon's and Hoseok's, so this way." With an outstretched thumb, he points to his right.
"Oh, okay," you answer, cracking a small smile. "Is it fine if I walk with you part of the way? I'm supposed to meet up with Namjoon for a project tomorrow, and I need some books from the library."
"Uh..." The male studies your features, your eyes set on him expectantly, lips slightly pursed yet not losing their curved shape. Despite your outgoing and to him somewhat outlandish nature, you seem to make sure not to overstep any boundaries. He grows fond of the thought, letting out a light chuckle at that. "Yeah, sure."
Throughout the entire way to the library, the two of you converse mostly about music. Yoongi is specifically interested in the fact that you own vinyls as well.
"My brother got me into them," you explain, fingers carding through some strands of your hair being swayed by the breeze. "He has this huge collection he's been accumulating since he was like sixteen."
He listens attentively to your words, soaking them up like a sponge. It doesn't dawn on him at first, but there isn't a single moment of silence – and he doesn't hate it. Usually, it takes him a great amount of effort to stay energized during social interaction, to not feel like he's either faking or half-assing it, or even the need to take flight. As soon as you arrive at the library though, he figures the contrary is the case here, a huge power drain suddenly coursing through every crevice of Yoongi's body.
"I guess I'll see you around?" You turn to him, hand curled around the iron door handle of the entrance.
Yoongi nods leisurely, a small smile forming on his face.
You mirror his mimic though tenfold in vivacity, offering him a wave of your hand in addition. "Tell them hi for me."
Lifting his own hand into the air, he answers, "I will."
And with that, you're gone and an indescribable feeling follows Yoongi to his friends he can't seem to shake off.
"Dude, that was whack!" Hoseok's shrill voice blares across the court, harvesting the attention of several onlookers.
"Yeah, okay. I know," Namjoon fends, watching the basketball bounce off the backboard onto the ground. "Everyone and their dog knows. Fuck!"
The group grows silent as they watch the youngest strut over to the bleachers, rummaging in his backpack.
Seokjin scoops up the ball from the gravel, shuffling over to the remaining boys gathered in the middle of the court. "What's up with him?"
Hoseok sends the eldest a simple shrug of his shoulders.
"What's up with you?" Seokjin shouts across the place but receives no response from Namjoon as he plops down on the bench, swallowing his water in big gulps.
"Okay, water break," Hoseok huffs out, trudging over to his friend followed by Yoongi and Seokjin.
As they reach Namjoon, said man simply shoves his water bottle back into his backpack before springing back into a standing position.
"So, are you gonna tell us what your problem is?" Seokjin tries again, locking eyes with the taller man.
Namjoon sighs in defeat, running a hand through his sweaty strands. "I'm a little on edge, I guess."
"You don't say," the eldest retorts, taking a swig of his water bottle. "But what's the reason?"
It's quiet for an instance before Namjoon continues, "I'm not sure how to go about things with _____."
"What do you mean?" Hoseok takes over this time, drying off the droplets of sweat on his forehead with a towel.
"We've been meeting up here and there. Sometimes for school, sometimes to hang out. But..." He stalls, crossing his arms in front of his chest.
"It's not going anywhere?"
The youngest nods, his jaw set and tongue pushed into the inside of his cheek.
Yoongi zones out halfway through the conversation. Over the course of time, get-togethers with you and either Namjoon or the whole group have become a frequent occurrence. Whether that be in between classes to have lunch or hang out later that day for a drink or two – Namjoon has been making an effort of incorporating you into the clique. And from the looks of it, you and the guys are getting along well.
In addition to that, Yoongi ran into you at the record shop again once or twice. He wouldn't necessarily deem it a notable fact as you parted ways to go on with your days every time, but the moments spent in there remain valuable nonetheless as both of you walked out with new discoveries each visit.
"Have you made any moves on her?" Seokjin questions now, leaning back onto the row of benches behind him.
The man in question tilts his head to the side. "Not per se, but I give her signals."
"What kinda signals?"
This entire time Yoongi remains silent, watching the scene unfold in front of him like an outsider. It's somewhat of a familiar sight, a memory of Namjoon trying to confess to his high school crush coming to the forefront of Yoongi's mind. The boys practically had to push the poor guy into her arms before he could chicken out for the umpteenth time. And though the course of their relationship neared its end sooner or later, Namjoon has at least gained the experience instead of giving in to his doubts. What a shitshow that was, Yoongi thinks to himself.
"I compliment her whenever she's wearing something nice or did her hair and make-up differently, and I bring her coffee and snacks." Namjoon's voice pulls Yoongi out of his daydream.
Hoseok musters his friend with furrowed brows. "You're doing the bare minimum, man."
Seokjin agrees with the former, adding, "You could spare all the second-guessing and straight-up tell her."
At that, Namjoon exhales loudly through his nose. "But she's not showing any signs, you know? At first she did, but now not so much."
Yoongi can see the disappointment in his friend's eyes, and if he could help him he would. But the others are only right – Namjoon has to stop playing around and come clean about his feelings. Yoongi knows he would if he were in Namjoon's shoes. Even with the nearly non-existent experience and abysmal enthusiasm for romantic relationships he has.
"We're not sixteen, seventeen anymore," the eldest blurts out. "If you wanna get the girl, you gotta tell her."
"I know, I know. But..." Namjoon trails, his hooded eyes darting towards the distance. "I dunno. It's obvious something's off. Maybe I came on too strong? Just gimme some time to figure it out, and – oh shit! She's coming."
All heads follow Namjoon's line of sight, a familiar figure coming into vision.
"Hey!" You greet them with a wave of your hand and your signature bright smile. "Heard you guys were here, so I thought I'd come with refreshments." As you pull out a cup carrier from behind your back, the boys let out sounds of surprise. You hand out the drinks to each individually. "I hope I did okay. I got the usual for Joonie,–"
The man in question accepts the beverage from you, a wide grin splayed across his face at the gesture – and most likely the nickname as well – as if the conversation from mere minutes ago is already forgotten.
"–watermelon for Hoseok, pink lemonade for Seokjin, and–"
As your hand curls around the last cup, Yoongi blinks up at you with wondrous eyes.
"–I remember you mentioned Iced Americanos once, so here you go."
Yoongi's lips part, closing and opening again before he mutters out a small Thank you. His hands shake slightly as he takes the cold drink from you. He remembers pointing out his go-to order about a week ago when you joined the clique for a quick coffee break after morning class. You wore your hair up in a bun, minimal make-up yet your face looked as bright as ever, and an oversized–
Hold up. Why does he remember all of this and why does it matter? What the fuck? Yoongi mentally slaps himself on the back of the head.
"So, who's winning?" You plop down onto the bench in between Yoongi and Seokjin, the former going rigid when your arm shortly comes into contact with his.
Everyone's eyes go around the group before landing on Namjoon.
"Last time I checked, we were on a losing streak," he sighs, nodding towards himself and Hoseok.
The remaining boys raise their eyebrows in confusion, not expecting the youngest to paint himself in a bad light in front of his crush.
"I'm the problem though," his teammate follows up quickly, defusing the situation. "I pull him down like a rock. Today's just not my day."
Your lips pull into a pout before curling upwards again, giving him an understanding nod.
"But hey," Hoseok continues, snapping his fingers as if he came up with the perfect idea, "how about you two play together? I could use a break, to be honest."
You lean in further at the proposition, your elbows propped up on your knees with a mischievous smile creeping up on your face. "I'll tell you what – you two go 1v1 and I'll play with whoever wins against these two." With outstretched thumbs, you point to Yoongi on your left and Seokjin on your right.
Hoseok's eyes widen ever so slightly and his lips curl into the shape of a circle.
"Please? I just wanna see you play, Joonie," you add with a slight lilt to your voice, gaze lingering on the tall man.
Yoongi almost spits out his drink, splurting a little as he sucks the caffeinated liquid through the straw. That's not showing any signs? My ass.
"Okay then," Namjoon states cooly though a hint of a smile can be spotted on his features. Retrieving the abandoned ball from the floor, he tosses it into Hoseok's hands. "First one to score ten points."
The two exchange looks with each other before jumping into action, jogging back to the court.
"Oh, thank God," Seokjin sighs loudly from beside you, head slumping sideways onto his shoulder. "I needed to catch a breath. My legs are killing me." He stretches out his limbs as a means of demonstrating his fatigue.
"How can you be tired? I did almost all the work, old man," Yoongi suddenly chimes in, a hint of annoyance yet amusement laced in his tone.
"Yah! I'm only three months older than you," the older male retorts, hoisting himself into an upright position. "I'm exhausted because you're hopping around the place like a rabbit on steroids. You always play like your life depends on it." Seokjin lets out several other humorous remarks that have Yoongi chuckling when a muffled vibrating sound interrupts him. Reaching into one of the pockets of his backpack, he pulls out his phone. "I gotta answer that real fast. It's my mom."
"Tell her I said hi," the blonde comments nonchalantly, adjusting the headband holding back his bangs.
Seokjin gives him a confirming nod before standing up with a groan, finger hovering above the screen ready to accept the call.
It's silent for a few seconds once Seokjin disappears down the line when suddenly a low cackle leaves you.
"What?" Yoongi asks, eyes shifting from Namjoon dribbling past Hoseok and landing a lay-up to you.
You shake your head slowly. "Your friendship dynamic is kinda weird but cute."
"Cute?" he blurts out in disbelief, repeating the word in his thoughts like an echo. Cute... Not in a million years would Yoongi have thought anything remotely in regards to him could be described as cute. "Care to elaborate?"
A shrug of your shoulders serves as part of your answer. "I dunno. I just find it interesting how different you are around each other, but all fuse so well." You rest your head in the palm of your hand. "You and Seokjin, for example, are the bickering type yet you treat each other with so much respect."
Yoongi laughs at your analysis. "Yeah, I guess so."
"It's kinda endearing to see," you add with a small smile.
He reciprocates it with an equally shy smirk. Wow. No one has ever made the effort to look beyond his quote-unquote stone-cold persona. People usually write him off as rude and aloof, and most of the time it doesn't bother him – but hearing someone point out the opposite fuels him with pride.
"Hoseok matches your coolness, but he's more of a happy-go-lucky type compared to you which is a good balance."
Yoongi just smiles to himself at this point, listening to your ramblings. Cool. You called him cool.
"And then you and Namjoon–"
He clears his throat, unsure of what to expect next.
"–are more on the same wavelength intellectually. Like you talk about this and that on an equal level, but he looks up to you like an older brother."
The man regards you with utmost attention, rendered speechless. He's unsure what it is about you as he would usually brush it off, pass the words off as bullshit, but looking into your eyes he can see the honesty, the truth behind them. A mix of emotions comes crashing in like a storm, settling in the core of his stomach, nestling there and leaving him nauseous. What is this feeling?
Before Yoongi can make sense of things, you speak up again. "I can't give you a full breakdown of our friendship yet."
His eyes widen as he lets your words sink in. "Our f-friendship?"
"Yeah." You lean back on the bench behind you. "I'd like to think we're friends." When he doesn't answer, you probe further, "Don't you?"
It doesn't go unnoticed, the barely significant change in volume and pitch of your voice, and it has Yoongi in silent panic. "Yeah n-no, of course we're friends," he stammers, his hand shooting up to brush through some damp strands of his hair.
At that, your signature smile returns, serving as a stark opponent to the orange light of the late afternoon sun. "Okay," you simply reply, licking your lips as you drop your gaze to a patch of grass on the ground. Yoongi does the same when your voice grabs his attention again. "How'd you like that Bryson Tiller I recommended, by the way?"
Swallowing down the lump in his throat, he muses, "It was really good. R&B isn't usually on my radar, but I really liked it."
You beam him a grin that grows wider by the second. "For real?"
Yoongi hums out in confirmation, accompanied by a nod of his head. "I can see why he's one of your favorites."
It's apparent you're trying to form words to speak when a loud roar sounds from across the place, followed by Namjoon sprinting towards the two of you. Hoseok trudges behind him defeatedly, seemingly out of breath.
"I did it," Namjoon announces proudly, pectorals on full display through his sweat-soaked shirt.
You spring up from your seat, cheering and clapping for the male before you engulf him in a tight hug.
The sensation in the pit of Yoongi's stomach intensifies, growing into unbearable stages when he watches Namjoon wrap his strong arms around you. This is unfamiliar territory for him, the force of this inidentifiable feeling brewing inside of him, the unexplicable longing for an answer to something he has never experienced before. Is it possible that he's... No, he can't be. This can't be, Yoongi tells himself. No.
Then he realizes that he hasn't spared one single glance at the game – and neither have you.
"Why the fuck would you do that?" Seokjin utters, his torso pressing further into the backrest of the sofa with each passing second, tightly clutching a pillow in comfort. "Don't look back! Run for your fucking life!"
Everyone's attention is on the lead actress of the movie, her struggle to escape the creature chasing her leaving the group on the edge of their seats.
For tonight, the boys decided on drinks and movies at Yoongi's and Seokjin's place, and despite a democratic vote against a horror movie, you managed to convince the opposition – most notably Seokjin and Hoseok – otherwise.
In his peripheral view, Yoongi can spot the latter grabbing onto his hair in tension the longer the chase continues, mouth falling agape when the main character barely dodges falling into the hands of death.
"_____, why would you make us watch this?" Hoseok whimpers, leaning closer to Seokjin beside him, the elder clawing onto the other as they both cower in fear.
With a lifted pointer finger to your lips, you signal him to shut up when suddenly a loud screech sounds from the speakers, causing you and everyone else to flinch.
Yoongi's hands clench around the armrests of his recliner in shock, a low chuckle leaving his lips once the aftereffect of the jumpscare subsides. When he turns his head to the side though, his expression falls just as fast as it came.
Your hands are clutched around Namjoon's biceps, your forehead resting on his shoulder before you look back up, sharing a laugh with the man seemingly embarrassed at the frightening scene.
Throughout the remainder of the movie, Yoongi's mind wanders elsewhere, the horrifying acts happening on screen serving as mere background noise for his thoughts. Why does he feel so hollow witnessing you together with his friend? He shouldn't care about any sort of physical touch between the two of you. He should be cheering for him now that he's becoming closer with his crush instead. So why is Yoongi internally conjuring up an image where he's the one sitting beside you in Namjoon's place? Why does he wish it was him that you're looking at so sweetly with that sparkle in your eyes? Why– No, stop, he mentally slaps himself. Stop it – now.
The ending credits roll when Seokjin springs up from his seat, a slight wobble apparent in his legs. "That was...something. I'm gonna need another beer. Anyone else?"
Hoseok is the first to give an affirmative answer, followed by you and Namjoon which forces Yoongi to opt for one as well.
"Let's watch something more lighthearted next?" Hoseok pleads as he scrolls through the plethora of movies, and once everyone is equipped with another cold beer, you agree on a comedic drama this time.
Yoongi has a gradually harder time trying to ignore the soft whispers and the glances stolen at each other, so he accepts sleep with open arms once he senses his eyelids growing heavy – the last thing he sees being your eyes facing him.
About an hour passes when Yoongi wakes up from the flickering lights of the TV screen as it shows recommendations after being inactive for so long.
Rubbing his eyes, he looks around the room. Everyone is dead asleep with Seokjin having settled for a makeshift bed on the floor, leaving an entire couch spare for Hoseok. Namjoon occupies one half of the other couch, legs resting on the coffee table – and then there's you next to him, hugging a pillow almost as big as your body in your curled-up state. Yoongi can make out the folded fashion of your legs covered under the throw blanket. You can't possibly be comfortable in this position, he concludes, but yet you look so peaceful, so tranquil – so beautiful.
He barely registers your eyelids fluttering open, deep in thought yet no thoughts at all, so he finds himself flinching once your focus sets on him.
Confusion seeps through every crevice of his being when all you do is stare at him, eyelids still heavy from sleep, wispy eyelashes brushing your skin with every blink. Yoongi should feel uncomfortable locking eyes with you so intently, so intensely, but all he feels is a meaning behind it.
Neither of you break eye contact, the tension growing palpable in the silence of this room, only the ticking of the clock on the wall and the light breathing of your sleeping friends to be heard. It's like only you and him matter at this moment, and when your lips curl into a small smile, he reciprocates the same, watching your eyelids fall shut again.
Yoongi wakes up once more to the now black mirror of the TV screen an hour later – and a light fabric draped atop of him. Running his fingers across the knitted pattern, he realizes it's the blanket you were wrapped up in from before. As his head whips around to the spot to his right, you're nowhere to be seen.
She might've gone to the bathroom, he tells himself, running a hand through his tousled hair. As his throat feels somewhat dry, he rises from his seat in the recliner, trudging over to the kitchen to find the lights on.
You're sitting facing the door, so when Yoongi enters, you're quick to greet him, surprise evident in your features. "Oh, hey."
"Hey," he replies, voice still thick from slumber. "You're up?"
"Mhm," you mumble. "Couldn't fall back asleep."
With shaky hands, he pours himself some water before settling down onto the chair adjacent to you. It's quiet for a while – not the same kind of quiet as back in the living room though. This time, the buzzing sound from the ceiling light and the droplets of water from the tap render Yoongi queasy, the scene transpiring just an hour ago playing on a loop in the forefront of his mind. To break some of the tension, he says the first best thing he can think of at the moment. "Thanks, by the way." When you look at him in confusion, he clarifies, "For the blanket."
"Oh." A light chuckle escapes your lips. "Yeah, I figured you might need it." Fiddling with the cup you're cradling in your hands, you continue, "I don't get why you always walk around in short sleeves."
Yoongi lets out a low hum. "It's not like I'm immune to the cold, but I'm less prone to it."
"Really?" you question him with interest. "I feel like I'm freezing all the time. Here, look."
"Ah–" Yoongi winces in surprise when one of your hands curls around his, the surface of your palm frigid against his skin. Like hypnotized, his eyes are fixated on your fingers laying loosely atop of his, the delicate flesh of your digits brushing against his calloused ones, your meticulously manicured nails a shocking juxtaposition to the rough edges of his. He's taking in the soft pink of your nail polish, a similar shade to the tint on your lips and a stark contrast to the prominent purple veins raking across his knuckles like vines.
Despite the clear collision of different worlds, all Yoongi can think about is how this looks right and how this feels right. Your hand might be freezing cold, yet he's fighting the urge to intertwine fingers with you until the temperature of your limb matches his – but then he remembers who you are. "Yeah..." Slowly retracting his hand from yours, Yoongi's vision steers to a cracked tile on the floor, the memory of a clumsy Namjoon in drunken stupor coming to the forefront of his mind. "You're really cold," he murmurs.
As if some sort of spell was lifted, you empty the remnants of your water in one go before slowly rising from your seat. "I should probably get going."
"W-what?" Yoongi stammers with a slight delay, processing your words. "It's like"–he squints at the clock on the wall–"two in the morning."
"Yeah, well..." Placing your used cup in the sink, you turn back around to face him. "I have some things to do tomorrow, so I should probably get some good rest in my own bed instead of breaking my neck sleeping on your couch." You finish your explanation with a hint of a smile.
Yoongi watches you with caution, searching for any sign that might give away your innermost thoughts. He doesn't remember you talking about any plans earlier today. "Let me walk you home then."
"Oh no, it's fine. You don't have to." Vigorously waving your hands in front of you, you politely deny his proposal. Why are you so adamant about it?
"I think I do." He's unsure where his assertiveness is coming from, but the thought of you returning home in the dark all alone renders him with discomfort.
"Really, it's not the first time. I'll be fine."
The male scoffs at that. Even more of a reason now, he thinks to himself. Who in their right mind ever made you walk home by yourself? "I don't think so."
"It's really not that far and I have–"
"_____, I'm not letting you walk home alone at this hour. Over my dead body." Pushing his tongue into his cheek, Yoongi declares, "It's either that or I'm waking up one of the guys to take you instead."
When you look up at him with wide eyes, he's concerned he might have overstepped a boundary – but he's merely being sensible. What if something happened to you? The thought alone sends shivers down his spine. He would never be able to forgive himself.
Your small voice softly rings in his ears, barely noticeable but enough for him to be able to finally breathe again. "Okay."
The walk to your apartment is dead-silent most of the way except for when you mumble out directions. Once you arrive at your apartment complex, you send him a small smile, thanking him before turning on your heel without wasting another breath.
"_____!" Yoongi calls after you.
You halt in your steps, facing him again.
"Did I do something wrong?" He knows he didn't, but something must have happened that caused your change in attitude. There's no way you can be angry with him for wanting you to arrive home safe and sound.
When you walk back towards him, a weak smirk stretches across your face before you shake your head. "It's nothing," you reassure him. "It's not you."
The space in between his eyebrows furrows at your words. What do you mean by that? He's trying to study your face under the dim streetlight though all he can see is the faint outlines of your features.
"Thank you for walking me home."
The action catches Yoongi off-guard, but when you wrap your arms around his waist, cheek coming to a rest on his collarbone, he acts as if on autopilot, leisurely draping his limbs across your back. Man, despite you laying it down on him so strongly that you're cold all the time the hug feels pretty damn warm and cozy. He can sense your heartbeat through the layers of fabric, the swell of your breasts pressed against his chest –
Oh God.
Unfurling his arms, he releases you from his hold, stumbling a step backward before things can escalate any further. He's not supposed to have these thoughts – not about you.
You take the hint, your own limbs dropping to your sides as you send him one last look, the corners of your lips tugging upwards ever so slightly. And then you turn on your heel, leaving for good.
He waits until you've entered your apartment, a light igniting on the fifth floor an indicator that you have, but even then he can't seem to set foot until several minutes have passed.
It's still pitch-dark inside when Yoongi returns, the slivers of moonlight shining through the windows serving as his sole guide. Silently hanging his set of keys onto the keychain holder, he shuffles his way back into the living room.
In the meantime, Seokjin must have moved to his bedroom as no traces of him or the pillows and blankets on the floor are to be seen. He usually does that when the boys are over and they end up falling asleep with not enough space for everyone.
Steering his gaze to the left, he witnesses Namjoon's tall stature splayed out on the now entirely vacant couch, back turned towards him.
Realizing there's no need for him to retreat to the recliner, Yoongi stealthily moves past the sleeping bodies of his friends in search of his bedroom.
"Thank you, hyung," the deep timbre of Namjoon's voice suddenly sounds, just above a whisper but enough to startle him.
"What for?" he inquires, confused at his friend's words and the fact that he's still awake.
"For taking care of _____."
Clubs aren't Yoongi's terrain. He avoids them like a disease, the sole thought of being surrounded by sweaty strangers grinding on each other to shitty, repetitive music so loud it almost bursts your eardrums forcing him to gag. Yet here he is, sulky though dressed to impress – in his eyes – as he patiently waits for the rest of the group to finish up. He's well aware that he could have declined, but at the same time he didn't want to. She's gonna be there.
It's minutes later when the front door finally opens, revealing Hoseok first, followed closely by Namjoon – and then there's you.
This has to be some sort of fever dream. He's at high risk of being caught, but Yoongi can't take his eyes off of you. Your pearl-white dress paired with the matching heels sends his head reeling, the hemline of your skirt stopping about mid-thigh causing a blush to creep up on his cheeks. But he can't lose his cool in front of everyone. That would be stupid and weird – and not to mention outright treacherous.
"Ready to go?" Seokjin questions, clutching his car keys as the designated driver of the night.
Everyone quickly assembles at the front door except for Yoongi who takes a second to gather his thoughts.
"Are you coming?"
Yoongi lifts his head at the inquiry. When he realizes it's you who posed the question with your frame turned towards him, his heart starts pounding in his chest like a pump gun. If only you understood the insinuation behind those words... "Y-yeah, sure," he chokes out before clambering off the couch, and so the group steps outside to Seokjin's car.
"Hyung." Hoseok puts a hand on Yoongi's shoulder. "We already pre-gamed a little. You gotta sit in the back, or I get car sick."
Yoongi peers behind Hoseok's form, eyes landing on you. They're gonna make you sit in the middle because Namjoon would block the view through the rear window. He's fucked.
Without posing any further questions, he climbs into the right backseat. When you settle down next to him not even a second after, it's like all signs of lifeform leave him – his breathing becomes shallow, his heartbeat flatlines. Not even a single muscle moves.
Your bare thigh comes into contact with his when you squirm around in search of the buckle. "Oops, sorry." A small smile flashes across your face when you notice. "I think it's on your side."
Yoongi tries his hardest to avoid eye contact with you. He wouldn't survive it in this close proximity. "A-ah, yeah..." he mumbles, maneuvering his legs closer to the door, giving you enough space to fumble.
The entire ride to the club he remains silent, his racing thoughts drowning out the chatter in the background. He's so unbelievably fucked.
The majority of the time Yoongi spends at the bar, downing beer after beer to wash away the chaos inside his mind – though what he deemed his remedy at first turns out to be his poison instead. After the third beer, it's impossible to ignore the way your hair sways along with your movements, how well your snug dress hugs your silhouette, and how smooth your bare arms and legs look.
"Alright," you pipe over the loud music after swallowing your shot of tequila, "I'll be back on the dancefloor again." Sliding down the bar stool, you shoot a look at the boys, both Hoseok and Namjoon tagging along with you.
Seokjin sends an affirmative nod your way before turning back to the bartender, engaging in their current conversation.
Even among the crowd it's easy to spot you, the satin fabric of your garment causing you to stand out like a sore thumb. In Yoongi's eyes you easily lighten up this sleazy place though, this pit of hell where everyone devours each other with indecent looks. You're like an angel among demons, wearing that sweet smile of yours like a halo, glowing with understanding and genuine interest – only it isn't directed at him but Namjoon in this scenario instead.
He watches your face turn into something darker though when his friend leans in closer towards you, whispering something in your ear.
Oh... Fuck.
He can't do this right now. Not now, not like this.
Without giving it much thought, Yoongi gets up from his seat. "I'm gonna step out for a second," he informs Seokjin before trudging towards the backdoor.
Once he sets foot onto the asphalt of the back alley and the door shuts behind him with a loud thud, an exasperated sigh escapes him. The air is cold and crisp with a hint of humidity from a prior rain shower. "Fuck..." The curse comes out audibly this time. Walking around in circles, his hands come up multiple times to run through his tousled locks. Why does he feel so strongly about this situation? You're just a girl, some random girl, that one of his closest friends since childhood happens to have a crush on. Yeah, you're kind and you're smart, beautiful and funny... But why does all of that matter to him? Why does it bother him so much seeing you with him that his insides churn at the sole thought of it?
He fell for you. He actually fell for you.
The realization has Yoongi forcing out a laugh in disbelief.
"There you are."
A familiar voice brings him back from his manic trip.
"I found you."
Looking over to the side, he almost regrets his decision. Even underneath the dim streetlights and the red hue of the neon sign plastered on the concrete wall you look stunning. Pull your fucking shit together, he tells himself. So he musters up the faintest of smiles at the source of the voice.
Your heels click on the asphalt as you make your way over to him, the surface still wet from the rain as it emits a splashing sound with each step. When you lean next to him against the wall, you let out a soft whine along with a chuckle before retracting from the surface in lightning speed. "Ah, it's cold."
Yoongi can't help but react with a soft chortle. "And wet," he adds, shrugging off his leather jacket in an attempt to throw it over your shoulders though you don't comply.
"Oh no," you fend. "I'll just go back inside where it's warm. I only wanted to cool off for a bit."
For some reason, your words render him even more eager in his proposition. "Don't be ridiculous. Put it on, please."
"Really, I came out for a breather, and that's what I got. Besides," you gesture towards him, "you're wearing short sleeves again–"
"And you're practically half-naked, so don't try to argue with me." It takes him a second to register what came out of his mouth, so when you look up at him with a dumbfounded expression, he immediately backtracks from his statement. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean it like that. I'm just–"
"You're just trying to be nice. I know," you finish for him.
Even though he would usually word it this way, there's more to it that he refrains from revealing. The alcohol coursing through his veins serves as a strong opponent though, clouding his senses.
With outstretched arms and pouty lips, you let him drape the heavy clothing over your torso, carefully looping your limbs through the sleeves. The sight of you standing there like a sulky child has him suppressing laughter.
"What?" You eye him, a glint evident in your glare before it softens again.
A small smile stretches across the man's lips, hinting at a confusing blend of endearment and disappointment. "Nothing," he simply states. He's in it – deep in it – with no way out. God, he wants to tell you that you're the most beautiful thing he's ever laid eyes on even though it would be wrong to admit.
"Can I ask you a question?" you finally break the palpable silence.
He gulps, unsure of your possible inquiry, but ultimately nods his head yes.
"It's two questions actually." Licking your lips, you shift your focus to a nearby puddle, the reflection of the light coming from the neon sign gifting it with more depth than it probably possesses. "Does Namjoon happen to have a crush on me?"
You come in straight with the facts, so Yoongi is taken aback, confused over how to go about it. "Uh..." he stammers, hand shooting up to scratch at the nape of his neck.
There are so many possible outcomes to this conversation. If he tells you the truth, things end right here, right now. Do not pass Go, do not collect 200 dollars. Does he think Namjoon should've confessed a long time ago? Yes, absolutely. Does he have it in his heart to shorten the process and do it himself instead? Absolutely not. First of all, it's Namjoon's wish to keep it a secret until he musters up enough courage to do so (which Yoongi can only so much as scoff at but still respect), and second and most important of all, there's this lingering fear of you reciprocating his friend's feelings – which isn't too far off of reality from the looks of it.
Realizing he hasn't given you a proper reply yet, Yoongi continues, "Well–"
"So it's true then." You cross your arms in front of your chest, your eyes finding his again boring into them with intent.
"I didn't say that," Yoongi counters, his glare holding yours in an attempt to ignore that glimpse of your cleavage framed by his jacket. It's not an easy feat as your folded arms give it an extra push, the pendant of your necklace sitting neatly atop of it.
"Yoongi, it's not like any of you are exactly subtle about it."
The words leave your lips in such a deadpan way, that trace of indifference within your answer shocking Yoongi as if you don't share the same sentiment. "Then why do you ask if you're so sure about it?" he fends in retaliation, finding no energy in himself to fight against your rebuttal. There's no reason to backtrack now. "Why do you ask me and not Namjoon?"
"I guess I..." The space in between your eyebrows creases. "I don't wanna have to break his heart."
Now it's Yoongi's turn to look at you in confusion. "W-what do you mean?"
He doesn't miss the way you roll your bottom lip in between your teeth, your eyes once dead set on him now avoiding the intensity of his. "Don't get me wrong. I like Namjoon, I really do – just not in that way."
For a second the world seems to stand still, your words slowly sinking into Yoongi's mind. He had it all wrong this entire time since you were dead convincing. Were you just playing some sick, twisted mind game all along?
You continue, "He's a great guy and everything, and I'm probably stupid for not seeing something that could potentially be there. But it's not him I'm interested in." Running a hand through your hair, you let out a loud huff. "I know I'm gonna have to tell him eventually. The thought already stresses me out."
"Namjoon appreciates honesty. Just right out tell him how you feel," Yoongi explains calmly despite the chaos raging inside of him. Honesty. His and Namjoon's friendship has never been of the complicated type, built on nothing but trust. Now he's committing the biggest crime in their twenty years of brotherhood, his eyes lingering on the sparkly sheen of your lips for a second too long wondering what they would taste like contradicting every principle he's trying to uphold. But wait – what do you mean it's not him I'm interested in?
"Yeah, you're right." Your words pull him out of his trance. "I'll talk to him as soon as I can."
Yoongi mirrors that weak smirk spreading across your face. "What's the other question?"
"Huh?"
"You said you had two questions," he recalls.
"Oh, yeah..."
It's quiet for an instance as he watches you deep in thought, struggling with whatever occupies your mind before you shake your head.
"Nevermind."
"Come on." His brows furrow at your curt reply. "Tell me."
"No, it's stupid," you counter, an embarrassed expression taking over your features.
"Nothing you say could ever be stupid." He doesn't think twice about the words leaving his lips, ignoring this weird mixture of regret and shame surging through him. "You brought it up, so just–"
"Do you have a crush on me, too?" you blurt out, eyes set on Yoongi's like your life depends on it.
It's almost as if all sense of being leaves him, his limbs growing rigid and his breath being knocked out of his lungs. How the fuck is he going to go about this? "What?" he merely responds, still in shock.
You blink up at him a couple of times, lips trembling as if you're about to elaborate – though you retract instead. "Forget it." Still facing him, you take a step backward before turning on your heel.
It can't be more than a split second, but within that time frame a million thoughts cross through Yoongi's mind. You have to suspect him for you to ask this question in the first place which poses several questions: how obvious has he been this entire time and why would you want to know the answer? Is it to ridicule him? Is it something entirely else? Whatever the answer may be, Yoongi needs to know – no matter the cost. "Don't," he croaks out, almost unconvincing in the way his voice wavers. "Don't go."
You watch him with wistful eyes as you turn around again, arms still crossed in front of your chest.
"What would you do if I said yes?" Usually, he would set the record straight right away, but this is unlike any other situation Yoongi has ever experienced before. Your presence alone renders him insecure yet the alcohol coursing through his veins causes him to come up with somewhat courageous statements like these.
Taking another step closer towards him, you lean against the wall beside you, one leg leisurely resting in front of the other. "I guess you're gonna find out."
With an incredulous chuckle, he mirrors your movements though his hands bury into the pockets of his jeans instead. You're not even two feet apart from each other, enough for him to feel the heat radiating off of your body. "What makes you so sure about that?"
Despite the shake of your head, the man can still make out the smirk stretching across your face. "Two things: one, you're stalling. If you wanted to say no, you already would've said so. And two," you lick your lips before drawing them into a thin line, "simple intuition."
"Intuition?" he repeats.
"Mhm," you hum out. "Maybe."
Another chortle escapes him. How has this turned into a cat and mouse game? And who is who?
"Or maybe you're just insanely obvious," you fend, a mischievous grin finding its way onto your features.
"Me?" He scoffs. "Obvious?"
A sole nod of your head seals your answer, and maybe his mind is playing tricks on him, but Yoongi swears he can sense some sort of chemistry brewing in between the both of you. But then again, why would you show any signs of interest in him? He's him and you're...you. Perfect, stellar _____ whom his best friend is pining for. He's stuck between a rock and a hard place, unable to deny his feelings yet the idea of Namjoon's heart being crushed comes to the forefront of his mind. Although the sheer thought of losing you tears him apart equally as bad as hypothetically losing his closest companion since childhood.
In hindsight, he wonders if things would've turned out different, if things could've been avoided, had Namjoon confessed to you and had you reciprocated. Yoongi wouldn't have developed feelings for you – at least he believes so. Now he's so deep in shit he doesn't see any way out of it without someone getting the short end of the stick. Either way someone's going to get hurt, and he decides it rather be him instead.
"Cat got your tongue?"
Yoongi comes back to life at the sound of your voice, the soft lilt alluding to your ignorance.
"Would it make things easier for you if–"
His brows furrow in surprise when you step closer to him, so close that you're almost chest to chest.
"–I said I liked you back?"
Did he hear you right? Did you just imply that you– There's no way. This can't be real. "What kinda sick joke is this?" The words leave his lips without much thought.
Now it's your turn to look at him in confusion, eyebrows creased with a deep-set frown. "What?"
Huffing out in frustration, Yoongi declares more deadpan than he prefers, "You're right – I like you, _____. And you say you like me, but..." He stalls, the residue of alcohol complicating the process of keeping his emotions in check. He can't have an outburst happen in front of you. The situation is already complicated enough as is. "Why do you act like that around Namjoon? I don't understand."
You look like you're about to reply with the way your bottom lip quivers, a hint of tears forming in the corners of your eyes, but a rusty creak along with a loud slam of metal and an all-too-familiar deep voice have you both turning your heads towards the door.
Shit.
"Namjoon," you two mumble in unison before rushing back inside.
Yoongi can already hear the commotion when you enter the hallway connecting the back entrance with the main room.
"Dude, calm down. What's going on?" Hoseok holds the younger man by the arm to stop him from storming past the crowd.
Namjoon looks back at the two of you. His nostrils are flared and his jaw set – Yoongi is scared he might pounce on him any second.
When his friend finally releases himself from Hoseok's hold and stalks over to you, he instinctively pulls you behind him. He knows Namjoon would never hurt anybody, but the thought of you being in this mess in your vulnerable state sends him into protector mode.
"I should've known," he starts. "It was crystal clear this entire time, but I didn't wanna accept it. Well," running a hand through his dirty blonde strands, he continues, "now I have proof."
"Joon, let me explain." Yoongi tries to defuse the situation. "It's not–"
"It's not what it looks like? Is that what you're trying to say?" Letting out a scoff, his stare shoots even more daggers at the shorter male now. "So I didn't see you confessing your feelings to the girl I like just seconds ago? This was all in my imagination then?"
Yoongi's mouth turns dry, a lump forming in his throat. "Joon, just hear me out–"
"Oh, I think I've heard more than enough." Clasping his head in his hands, he continues, "I didn't think you would stab me in the fucking back like that."
"Namjoon!" It's Hoseok's voice now calling the male's name in warning.
Another curse escapes him before he leans in closer towards you.
He might be mistaken, but Yoongi's hand suddenly feels heavier, another set of fingers weaving their way through his in search of comfort.
"Good luck with the virgin," Namjoon snarls, his eyes traveling from you to the male beside you.
"Kim Namjoon!" Seokjin steps in this time, fury evident in his face before said man can make his way to the exit, leaving everyone in shock.
Yoongi's ears fall deaf after that, a pit opening in the depths of his stomach, every fiber of his being becoming numb. He's neither particularly ashamed nor proud of this fact, but the way the words came out of Namjoon's mouth has him almost toppling over in disbelief.
He doesn't understand what's happening around him, but when what he believes to be your head drops onto his shoulder, he comes back to his senses. The contact is fleeting though as you detangle yourself from his grip.
"I'm sorry," you murmur, and without taking a look back, you disappear within the crowd, someone calling your name over and over again without an answer.
It's then that Yoongi realizes he and Seokjin are the only ones left.
"Stay here," the elder signalizes him, following your trail through the club.
Fuck. Fuck! How could things have gotten so uncontrollably out of hand? There's an uncomfortable tightness forming in Yoongi's chest, wrapping around him like a rope. Is this going to be the end of his and Namjoon's two-decade-old friendship? Is he going to lose one of his closest confidants because of a girl? The thought leaves a bitter taste on his tongue. You're not just some random girl – you're far more than that. He despises himself for even thinking of diminishing your worth, his heart clenching in disgust, yet there's no way this can be the end of things. He should've never fallen for you.
Your mind must be racing as well though, Yoongi concludes. You basically confirmed that you have feelings for him as well – if what you said was the truth because, after all, you have been heavily flirting with Namjoon in front of Yoongi. If so, how are they going to hold up after this mess? And – the idea has him swallowing down hard – are you turned off by the fact that he's a virgin?
His priorities are all over the place right now. Is he going to have to make a choice between you and his friend? Or are you both going to abandon him maybe? Fuck...
"Yoongi!" The familiar sound of Seokjin's voice appears at the perfect time, catching him before he can fall deeper into despair. "Let's go home."
"What about _____?" he inquires, not realizing your name slipping off his tongue first instead of Namjoon's.
"She's in the car," the elder explains. "Hoseok and Namjoon are taking an Uber home."
There's nothing much Yoongi can offer besides a solemn nod before following Seokjin outside to the parking lot.
The dusty green of his roommate's old Honda Civic comes into view, and for a second Yoongi considers taking the seat next to you when he catches a glimpse of you through the window, head hung low and hair falling in front of your face. The sight has him opting for the passenger seat instead.
Most of the car ride remains calm, not even the radio playing any sort of music. An incoming call from Hoseok informs everyone that he and Namjoon arrived at home safely and that the man – though still somewhat in distress – will be alright and won't do anything stupid in his drunken state. Yoongi is more than thankful for the eldest's sobriety and clear mind in this situation though it only does so much easing the nervous shaking of his leg and the incessant picking of his cuticles.
It's not long before you arrive at your apartment complex, once the car comes to a halt your fragile voice filling the silence. "Thanks for the ride. Goodnight." And without sparing one single glance, you climb out of the vehicle, shutting the door with a loud thud.
Silence settles again, no one daring to speak until Seokjin moves to ignite the engine again. It comes to life with a spluttering roar when suddenly the door to the passenger seat opens.
"Yoongi!" Seokjin calls out for the younger male only to be answered by the door slamming shut again.
You're already rummaging around for your house keys when his voice stops you in your tracks.
"_____, wait." He breathes out, a cloud of mist forming in the air. It's only then that he realizes how cold it has actually become – and that he's still without his jacket.
You slowly turn around, your arms wrapped around you for comfort.
The look you send Yoongi hits him straight in the chest. It's dim under the light of the entrance to your apartment complex, yet he can spot the streaks of runny mascara around your eyes. "Are you okay?" he asks, his voice small and unsure.
Your arms fall to your sides lethargically. It's quiet for a long time before you speak up. "I didn't mean for any of this to happen. I'm sorry, I messed everything up."
Yoongi vehemently shakes his head at your apology. "You have nothing to apologize for. It's not your fault."
At that, you mimic his gesture, a small whimper resonating from you as fresh tears start to form again. "Earlier, you asked me why I act that way when I'm with Namjoon..." You stall, visibly swallowing down a lump in your throat. "At first it was because I wanted to give it a serious shot. I could tell he liked me, and I was actually considering it. But my heart just wasn't in the right place."
The first tears trickle down your cheeks. "So I thought if I ended things early I wouldn't have a reason to stick around anymore."
The space in between Yoongi's brows furrows at your explanation, but he lets you continue without interjecting.
"I was scared I wasn't gonna be able to be around you anymore, so instead I led Namjoon on and then this whole mess happened." In between heavy sniffles, the tears flow uncontrollably now.
Never in his life has Yoongi been so dumbfounded, so struck to silence by a hurtful truth. Words don't even come close to describing what he's experiencing in this moment, a mixture of frustration and disappointment concentrated in the core of his body, but something tugs on his heartstrings at the sight of you. Your presence comes across as frail, that damn black leather jacket almost swallowing you up entirely, engulfing you in darkness. It's kind of ironic, this comparison of images: Yoongi in his initial head-to-toe black attire if it wasn't for the white, slim-fit t-shirt on his torso, and you in your skimpy, white dress as your centerpiece though it's now being dominated by that foreign black piece of clothing. It's as if you traded pieces of each other, innocence and corruption cohabitating within the two of you – no one entirely good, no one entirely evil.
"God, I feel like such a whore!" you suddenly exclaim, your whines becoming louder. Burying your face in your hands, you cry with reckless abandon.
Yoongi is stunned at your response – and heartbroken that you would call yourself names like that. It wasn't an ideal approach, but at the end of the day everyone had their wrong-doings. He should've never given in to your advances, and Namjoon should've confessed to you.
It takes you a while to regain composure, and Yoongi feels compelled to console you though he refrains from it when you strut over to him, shrugging off the jacket in the process. "I'm not sure what kinda outcome I was expecting, but I didn't think it would tear you two apart like this." A huge question mark appears in Yoongi's head when you elaborate, your fist thrusting the heavy leather towards him which he takes with a slight delay. "I don't wanna take part in this if it means your friendship's on the line."
His soul leaves him in an instant, that unsettling feeling in the pit of his stomach tightening, tenfold in severity now. The worst-case scenario has come to life – he lost his best friend and he lost you.
"I'm so sorry," you murmur for the umpteenth time this night, and with that you turn around, unlocking the front door and leaving Yoongi alone in the dark as it clicks shut behind you.
Seconds upon seconds pass by as Yoongi tries to come to terms with what happened, a lightheaded sensation creeping up on him, causing him to collapse at the knees. Now he's in a crouched position on the concrete platform, dismissing the freezing cold nipping at his exposed skin. His elbows come to a rest on his bent joints, his hands clasping around his head as if to shield himself from the outside world. Fuck... Fuck! There's no way things are going to go back to the way they were. Everything's fucked.
"Hey, man." Yoongi discerns Seokjin's voice beside him. "Come on, let's get you home."
The elder hoists him up by the shoulders, retrieving the leather garment that lifelessly lies on the ground to throw it over his shivering form.
"Hyung..." Yoongi mumbles out. "I fucked up."

Can you tell me why you think this is a pr stunt please
Yeah, also I'm sure I'll forget something so @ my anons feel free to add anything. And I'll try to explain this with as little bias as I can (I am incredibly biased because I really don't like Olivia but I'll try to keep my thoughts on her to a minimum).
There's a couple different reasons I think this is a stunt. It's not a simple answer so I'll try to outline it as clearly as I can.
DWD had a rocky start from the beginning, and it only continued throughout filming. Dakota Johnson (a big name) left. Shia (the original lead) either left or was fired. Then there were all the allegations surrounding him. I don't know if he was fired for those allegations or if he quit due to creative differences with Olivia. Either or, his name tarnished the film a little bit. Then covid shut down production for 2 weeks which caused the set millions. There was the second NDA the cast and crew had to sign for unprofessionalism, which I'm sure didn't bode well with Warner Bros. DWD also went two months over schedule, which again cost WB millions. A PR stunt is a common tactic used to draw attention away from negativity.
This is Olivia's second directorial movie, following the box office failure of Booksmart. Booksmart only brought in $25 million (internationally) during it's course in theaters. For reference, Five Feet Apart (a smilier movie that came out the same month) made $99.5 million. Captain Marvel (which came out the same weekend as Booksmart) made $1.128 billion. My guess is Olivia's hoping DWD will do well in the box office because she has some unheard of director deal where she gets half of the box office earnings once the movie breaks even. She probably wants to draw in as much publicity as she can for the money, but also to boost her own image as a female director. She's in her late thirties which is a "condemned" age in Hollywood women because of the industry's sexism. It's hard to get any gigs at that age. She also probably also wants to be the next big thing. There's a lot of reasons why she'd want to bring in publicity to DWD and a stunt is part of that promotion.
Speaking of promotion, Booksmart had major issues with promotion. It wasn't marketed effectively (you can read about it here). The stunt could be another marketing strategy.
DWD also started filming during a very uncertain time due to Covid. At the time, no one had a clue when social distancing or mask wearing would come to an end, or proper movie promo. It doesn't seem impossible that they'd pull some extra strings since at the time, proper movie promo seemed unlikely.
Whether or not the stunt was originally intended for Harry's image, I don't know, but I do think he's riding it out now. It's bringing him in revenue since he's not touring (those pap pictures of him and Olivia probably have sold for an insane amount and him and Olivia get a cut of the check). He also, like Olivia, could be making his salary based off of what the movie makes (so a percentage of it). At the time he was also scheduled to tour (still is) so maybe he knew he wouldn't be at movie promo so he agreed to do the stunt to fulfill his part. Then I also have a theory that Harry got mixed up with something and the stunt is being used as a distraction (but I have absolutely no proof of this - it's just me)
There's also brand promotion. Not sure if that would be included in the original deal or as an add on but it's been shoved down our throats since the beginning and a lot of people don't pay attention to it. There's Gucci from the wedding (which conveniently was Harry's Gucci Beloved campaign). There's Eliou the jewelry brand. There's Bode. Now there's Nike, and it's not the first time Harry's been papped with Nike during this stunt
But even if you choose not to believe all the above things, there's still the very obvious consensus from Harry's fans and most of the GP that something is off with this "Relationship". The timing. The lack of chemistry. The predictable pictures and timeline. Literally every single thing points to it being a PR relationship. Even a verified journalist said she think its PR (on Twitter - I forget the username)
So here's what I think happened/and what's continuing to happen: I think the stunt was part of Harry's deal to join DWD. There have been seeds of "evidence" since the beginning (i.e. Olivia sticking her head at an uncomfortable angle out of her trailer to be seen talking to Harry). I think the wedding pap walk was planned since the beginning also but Olivia wasn't planning to go over schedule with DWD. I think the pap walk was supposed to come after production ended to keep things "professional". But due to their contracts, they probably couldn't back out and needed to go forth with the walk even though they were still filming.
I think there was a 6 month mark for the yacht pics (or PDA pics in general) because I think the movie was slated for a September 2021 release/July 2021 trailer. The timing would make sense - big stunt to draw attention to the movie. But obviously things got shifted around with the pushed back release, most likely WB's decision to give the movie a fighting chance (my guess is it will be released during the "movie dump months" of early 2022). Now I predict either the breakup or another big move right before the actual movie release.
I think Olivia and Harry's teams feed info to fan accounts, gossip blogs and magazines to keep things "organic". This can be sightings or pictures. Ever notice how many of those come from burner accounts? A lot. And I'm sure some of them are real, because after all if Harry and Olivia go out in public together they're going to be spotted.
As for the smoothie shop video, since this needs it's own explanation, the security footage can't just be "leaked". No one has access to it besides security. I don't even think the owners have access. So it wasn't organically "leaked". There's no possible way it way. It's illegal. The only way that footage could have gotten out is if the people in the video requested it, and probably for a pretty penny too. It was released during a content drought so I think it was a staged leak. (The pictures of Harry as Jack were also a staged leak. No one has access to film footage except the director, producers, and editors).
So yeah, that's my thought. I won't be convinced it's real unless they get married or have a child together
And also, just to add, PR stunts are common in the industry. It's not impossible for this to be a stunt. Celebrities will do a lot for fame and money. Harry's seemed to have fallen down that path

This request (if it's still an option) might be a little odd and will admittedly stay more feminine, but if i may?
Might i request a small shoto x reader story where the reader is a practicing witch? It's something i personally am into and i think it would be fun to read. Imagine shoto learning about spell candles, crystals charging positive energy, tarot cards, that stuff, because the person he likes uses them a lot.
It might be a touch vague, plot wise, but from west I've read it's sure to be something you can make amazing. Thank you very much. (Anonymous because this is my first time ever requesting something like this and I'm way to shy about it.)
Intuition - Shouto Todoroki x Reader
DISCLAIMER: I do not own any of these characters, they belong to Kohei Horikoshi
MHA Masterlist - Main Masterlist
WARNINGS: Fluff, Swearing (It’s Bakugou, so, that’s kinda a given)
Requested by Anonymous:
A/N: Hi!!! I am so sorry that this took me freaking AGES to write. In between trying to research and find reputable sources to learn from about what you requested and dealing with school stuff (honestly, my teachers just think that all of my free time should be filled with school work smh) I finally FINALLY finished! I really hope you enjoyed, and I really found it interesting learning about all these things! <3
Word Count: 1.5K
“Y/N, may I ask you a question?” Shouto’s smooth voice cut through to your senses, rousing you from the book you currently had your nose in. Sitting just inches away from you was the red-and-white haired boy, the textbook he had been consulting now bookmarked and set next to him. With a raise of your eyebrow in curiosity, you marked your page and nodded.
“What’s on your mind?” You ask, leaning a bit closer to him. Shouto, being your boyfriend for now 2 months and comfortable with touch, wrapped a light arm around your waist.
“I was just curious about your choice of decor for your dorm, it’s quite unique.” A knowing smile graced your lips as your gaze left his handsome face and flitted around your dorm. On top of shelves, all over your desk, and even on the balcony windowsill you had, crystals and candles dotted the room. A smile graced your lips as you saw Shouto’s eyes on the various beloved items.
“I guess you can say it’s unique,” You start to say, standing from your spot on the floor and going over to your desk and taking your favorite crystal into your hand. It was a simple clear quartz cluster but it’s been with you the longest. You motion for Shouto to stand up next to you so he could see it more clearly. “This one is a clear quartz,” you explain as he bends down so that his eyes are eye-level with the crystal.
“It’s beautiful,” he murmurs, his gaze transfixed on the quartz. With a laugh, you carefully place it back down on your desk.
“Well, it’s not all just a pretty face. It’s actually charged with a lot of healing energy, so it’s provided some real tranquility in my life.” Shouto’s eyes narrow in confusion, looking back up to yours.
“You’re not telling me that this crystal has a quirk, do you?” He asks, genuinely perplexed. With a bark of laughter, you shake your head.
“No, no, it doesn’t have a quirk. I’ve just been charging the crystal myself.” Still sensing some bewilderment from your boyfriend, you grab a few different items - the quartz, a spell candle from your windowsill, and a pack of tarot cards from your desk - and lead him over to your bed to sit down. “A lot of the things I have in my room have a more… spiritual side to them. Basically with things like crystals, I charge them with positive energies. I do this by cleansing them and then emanating positive thoughts, intentions, or words to the crystals themselves.” Shouto nods, seemingly understanding that concept.
“Are the candles and cards similar?” He wonders.
“Well, they’re all similar in the way that they’re part of witchcraft. People who are practicing witches usually have some, if not all, of these things and probably a lot more. I’m kind of in the low-key part of witchcraft since I don’t really cast spells or am part of a coven or anything, but I really enjoy it.” You gush, causing Shouto’s cheeks to heat up a bit. He’s always loved seeing you so passionate about things whether it be in classes or during hero training, but your passion here was on a whole other level.
“Interesting,” he says, “so what purpose do the candles serve?” His interested tone causes a giddy smile to flicker across your face, sending you into ‘explanation mode’.
“The candles are actually pretty cool. Like the crystals, it’s recommended that you cleanse and charge them in order for them to work. I usually buy these from that crystal store on mainstreet, and this one is one of my favorites! It’s actually one for my zodiac sign,” you tell him, holding the glass holder up in front of him so that he could read the label.
“And the cards?” He asks, leaning over to view the pack of cards.
“Oh! Those are tarot cards.” “I’m assuming they are pretty different from regular cards?” He asks, a little smirk on his face.
“You would be right in assuming that, yes,” you say, giggling while sliding the deck out of its container. You give the deck a few shuffles. “They can help to gain insight on peoples’ futures by drawing cards that represent your past, present, and your future.” Shouto’s eyes widened.
“They can tell your future?” He exclaims, a little wary but also excited about the prospect of it.
“Yeah, you want me to give you a reading?”
“Yes!” Shouto says quickly. Your heart warms at his enthusiasm as you let your shuffling come to a stop. Spreading the cards out in your hand, you hold them face down in front of your boyfriend.
“Okay, pick three.” You say simply, yet Shouto still hesitates.
“Is there a strategy for picking them?” He asks.
“Just go on your intuition. Pick what your heart tells you to.” You murmur. Shouto nods slowly and lets his fingers hover over the cards. He lets his fingers dangle for only a minute before picking his three cards and setting them on your bed covers. With a satisfied smile, you straighten up the rest of the cards, set them aside, and turn your attention to the three he picked. You turn them over one by one. His first card, representing his past, is The Tower. The second card, representing his present, is the Death card. And finally, representing his future, he picked the The World card. As Shouto’s eyes rake over his cards, they settle and widen comically at the middle card.
“Uh, oh no, Y/N I picked death.” He said, his breathing becoming a little shallow at his sudden spurt of panic.
“That’s okay Sho, just let me give you your reading, yeah?” You soothe, urging him to calm down. With a hesitant nod, he settles down a bit. “Okay! So for your first card, you chose The Tower. Now this card represents sudden upheaval, broken pride, and disaster. Think back to your past whether it be just yesterday or years beforehand. I know you had a tough childhood and growing up was never easy for you,” you say, trying to empathize with Shouto. He nods acceptingly, having already acknowledged his past.
“Yes, this card makes sense.” He simply says. Your gaze focuses next on the middle card - Death.
“I know this card can look a little scary, but I promise it’s not.” You say, trying to gently ease Shouto into the idea that his current present is represented by death. “The Death card represents the end of a cycle, new beginnings, and metamorphosis. Think and turn your consciousness to your thoughts right now. Think about how much you have changed from your past, and find solace in the end of that cycle and the beginning of a new one.” Shouto closes his eyes and unconsciously begins to smile, causing your own to shine brighter.
“That is a comforting thought. I never thought I could find relief from a card that says death on it.” He remarks, opening his eyes back up to yours. You could tell he was eager to hear about his last card - his future.
“And your final card is The World. I’m not being biased or anything, I promise you I’m not, but this is one of my favorite cards.” You admit, earning a sparkle to show in your boyfriend's eyes. “The World card represents fulfillment, harmony, and completion. Try and imagine your future. This completion and fulfillment could come in the form of many things whether it be your career, your friendships-”
“A romantic relationship?” He asks, his cheeks now burning with red. You feel yourself begin to fluster and the silly smile across your face causes you to look at your hands.
“Yes, this card could potentially apply to a romantic relationship.” You murmur softly. You busy yourself with cleaning up the cards and putting them back in their container, still flushed with the thought of Shouto hoping for harmony within your relationship. However, your thoughts are put to a halt when Shouto has a soft hand beneath your chin, gently angling your head so that your eyes meet his.
“I like the thought of a fulfilling relationship with you.” He confesses, his doe eyes causing you to melt.
“I, uh, Shouto the card might not be referring to that though.” You stammer, your eyes flicking in between his and his lips.
“You said that I should go on intuition beforehand, yes?” He asks, wanting you to confirm. When you nod your head, his smile turns into a smirk. “Well then my intuition tells me that the card is referring to us.” And in one fluid motion, his lips are on yours. Like always, they’re soft, slow, and sensual… and you can never get enough of them. With one hand going up to play with his hair and the other one wrapping around his neck, you press yourself closer to him as he kisses you more feverishly.
“Thanks for my reading,” he says breathlessly, each word in between kisses. You yourself are breathless as well, sinking into his embrace like puddy.
“Anytime.”

Natsuo Headcanons- Part 2!
Part 1 wasn’t too popular but I’m not going to sit on this goldmine of Natsuo content sitting in my notes 😤
He's actually very protective of Shouto, there aren't many times when it's visible, but he wishes he had been there more
Whenever he's at home he keeps a close eye on Shouto to make sure Endeavor hasn't been training him or abusing him otherwise
He's not gonna repeat the same mistakes he made with Touya, he's determined to be a good big brother and build a relationship with Shouto
He wants a normal family just as much as Fuyumi, but as long as Touya's missing they'll never be truly together
Asexual Natsuo, anyone?
He takes psychology classes and gains a much broader perspective on his family dynamic
Oh and he's also quirkless
You know he's the family disappointment (of course until Touya returns), he used to doubt Endeavor would willingly acknowledge him because of the shame it would bring to him
In Endeavor's eyes quirkless people are the weakest, so you could imagine the disappointment when Natsuo was just. A normal kid.
Also you'd better guess it's difficult living in a world where you and your family's abuser is publicly praised
Natsuo has one friend who is an Endeavor fan, and it's a rocky relationship
See Endeavor's name isn't common knowledge because most people could care less, but it's out there if you're desparate enough to know
Case in point Natsuo regularly deflects suspicion because "Todoroki is a common name, it's not a big deal"
But while Natsuo actively denies being related to Endeavor, he's not gonna lie about Shouto being his brother. It doesn't take much to put two and two together
He has the last (and only) photo with all of his siblings before Touya died as the lockscreen on his phone
He's super supportive of Shouto, and he recognizes the mental strength it takes for him to work with Endeavor in a professional environment. He personally can't be in the same room as Endeavor for more than a few minutes, but praises Shouto's maturity in that sense
Again he's trying really hard to build a relationship with Shouto, most of it is encouraging him from afar
You can bet he was yelling at the screen for the sports festival, he knows how much Shouto hates his fire side but you can bet he's a little miffed at Bakugou for knocking him out, until of course Bakugou saved his life but that's beside the point
He actually enjoys cooking, yeah he's not the best at it but he's being compared to the g o d d e s s that is Fuyumi
Anyone's cooking would taste bad next to hers
And you know as much as he hates Endeavor he still seeks his approval
So he'll never admit it but it definitely hurt him when Endeavor made some offhand comments about his cooking and he doesn't enjoy it as much anymore because it's just another way he's a failure
He still bakes tho
Definitely the person who makes friends by bringing baked goods to every event
You can bet his friend group is awesome as well, they're all super supportive of each other
They're the sort of kids who cash in for pizza parties and movie marathons in the lounge room
He doesn't drink and doesn't really intend to once he's of age either- Endeavor wasn't exactly an alcoholic but there have been enough 'incidents' as it is that he made up his mind a while ago
He's on academic scholarship; he wasn't too keen on asking Endeavor to sign all his college forms so he applied for scholarships out of spite
Yes, he does a lot of things out of spite but it's gotten him to where he is today so he's not complaining
In the rare event that he's pissed at someone other than Endeavor, he becomes very passive-aggressive
But like, in a way that his professors can't penalize him
He'll take advantage of any loophole in an assignment and end up doing the opposite of what was asked, except the final product is so well crafted nobody can really discredit him
Yeah I'm getting oddly specific but you can't blame me for projecting onto him
Okay back to basics
His favorite color is (obviously) blue
Purple is a close second
Naturally he's biased against red
I wanna say he's a dog person, but because he wasn't around animals much as a kid he actually prefers fish
He has a fish tank on his desk to keep him company while he studies
Sleep schedule? Who's she?
On that note he drinks. So much coffee. He'll get a triple shot of espresso at 6pm
His fears are more abstract, than anything...There are a lot of specific moments in his childhood that he can draw on, so his biggest fear is probably that Endeavor will lose control again and hurt one of his siblings
Like he already lived through his worst fear when he lost Touya, and he doubts anything can hurt more than that
(There was no way of knowing that Touya being alive again was a close contender, trying to murder Shouto and all)
Part 1 here
That’s all for now, again feel free to add on and reblog if you want a part three ;)

Get To Know The Writer!
——— BASICS! ♡
(PEN)NAME: Noise
PRONOUNS: They / Them
ZODIAC SIGN: Virg.o
TAKEN OR SINGLE: I am a single parent to a gremlin cat. I also have a dog and another cat, but when do I ever talk about them sorry my fur children I should not have a favorite, but I do.
——— THREE FACTS! ♡
I am fairly/decently tattooed (verging on heavily tattooed, I think most would argue)? I think that’s something most people don’t know or assume about me (unless you’ve seen me, then, of course, it’s the first thing everyone notices). I have a lot of tattoos so I won’t describe/go over all of them (most of them are nerdy though). But the most obvious/largest one I have is my full sleeve (entire left arm), and that one is of Ok.ami! My favorite one, though, is on my thigh because I’m biased, and it’s a decently sized heart with a scene from K.iki’s Delivery service in it/things that reference it, but Lily and Jiji (the cats from Kiki’s) are colored/drawn as my two cats instead (their names are Elise and Bella and I love them very much gfheudhg)! And my most recent one is a pretty large Sailor Moo.n (Luna) inspired one on my calf (I got it done, unintentionally, like the day before we went into lockdown here and I still think about how that’s the last time I left my house other than to walk the dog and for the essentials, obviously dshjgjfy).
A lot of you know this already, but I sew/know how to sew (largely self taught)! I mainly do cosplay stuff for myself now, and sometimes make cosplays for friends (if I love them enough ghufdihrudk). But there was a period of my life where I was doing it professionally/as a job. I had my own business, and used to make and sell plushies (mainly at conventions, and would do several conventions in a year. Free fun fact from that, but my best con was actually in Canada, of which I am not from nor do I live in, but because of that I have a business license/Tax number in Canada. Used to get invites to events in Canada all of the time and I had to tell them I don’t live there gfudrkugfgrfdr)!
This is so very difficult. I’m out of facts and trying to come up with things you guys don’t already know ifdshliuf. Uhhhhh, on the more personal side/less fun side I guess, but I was on a learning plan (I honestly forget the actual term for it - basically it’s for when you struggle with a certain subject and have to take extra classes for it or are given accommodations for it because it’s difficult for you) throughout most of school/prior to college for - writing, actually (believe it or not gifdljhgkgrt)! I was often told how terrible I was at it/that I would never get better at it because the school system can be awful, but I enjoyed it, and was a very stubborn child so I kept at it anyway! Eventually I was taken off of it in high school entirely because of my own efforts. So, I just want to say: never let people tell you that you’re incapable of something/can’t do something/don’t let people bring you down! If you love something, and get enjoyment out of it, you should do it regardless of what others think/believe! And be kind/supportive to creatives (including yourself - so very much including yourself, you’re wonderful and deserving of respect and praise for doing what you do). It can take so much courage to write or draw or sew or sculpt a single thing (and you should be proud of that thing, even if it doesn’t live up to what you wanted, because what really matters is that you had the courage to do it at all)! There’s often so much going on behind the scenes that you’re not aware of, and you never know where, when, or how someone started off in something (so even if something seems easy for someone now, it likely wasn’t when they started and still might not be)!
——— EXPERIENCE! ♡
I can’t recall when I started role-playing exactly (I’ve been writing, in general, since I could hold a pen). It’s been years, but I started with OCs on forums and with friends (in high school I had a group of friends that I would trade around a physical notebook with where we would write replies - one time, for a friend’s birthday, I had owed them a reply for a really long time, so we wrapped it up and them put it in five or so boxes, all of which were also wrapped, and gave it to them. It was a good time haha. Gosh I’m so old). Before eventually moving to tumblr. Most of my older/oldest OCs are still around on my general multi (August being the oldest, but a decent chunk of the OCs on that blog are pretty old). The first canon character I wrote was, I believe, Steven St.one from P.okemon. As far as Lucifer is concerned, I’m a few days away from this blog being seven months old!
——— MUSE PREFERENCE! ♡
I’m not quite certain what my preference is to be honest! I enjoy writing both OCs and canon characters. I tend to favor characters I’m more emotionally invested in since I tend to be on the shy/more withdrawn side of things so it’s easier for me to interact with others/reach out to others when I’m more invested in a muse! A lot of it can depend on my mood as well, certain characters are easier for me to write depending on how I’m feeling ( but there are muses I find easy to write regardless of how I’m doing). And how comfortable I feel with/on my dash also plays a fairly decent role in my preference, as well! And I enjoy running both single and multi-muse blogs, though most of my blogs are multis (but having a single muse blog is so nice). As far as archetypes go, I think I don’t favor one as much as I used to, but I still write a lot of white-haired muses haha. As far as gender goes, I tend to write male identifying muses most often.
——— FLUFF / ANGST / SMUT! ♡
FLUFF: I love and adore all things soft. Obviously it’s easier with certain muses than others (Lucifer lends himself well to fluff, but I have muses, like L.ucilius, who do not). I’m always down to write fluffy things, and very much enjoy it! I like and favor happy/soft content! I like seeing muses get closer, and living their lives and I’m always excited to see characters happy/finding out what they enjoy/spending time with others and learning about them/letting characters live their lives (especially in Lucifer’s case because, well, you know haha. If Cy.games won’t let him be happy I will simply have to do it myself).
ANGST: I like angst to a certain extent. I’m not into super heavy angst that has a bad/unhappy outcome, and doesn’t serve much of a purpose beyond being angsty. But angst that allows characters to develop is wonderful, and expected. And I love the recovery period. Writing muses addressing and living with their actions or learning how to cope with them - how their past or how what’s happened impacts their day to day lives and how they think/what bothers them/their actions/how it becomes a part of them, and what it takes for them to grow. Or how it deepens their relationship with another, and the comfort that comes with it. I enjoy angst that has a happy/meaningful ending.
SMUT: It tends to be very case-by-case by with me. I may write it with certain muses (of mine) and not with others. I may be open to writing it with certain ship partners, and not with others, as well. I will/can write it, but it depends on my comfort level (and it is by no means a deal breaker if you chose to write or not write it). Generally speaking, it largely depends on how comfortable I am with the mun I’m writing with, and with my own muse that’s involved. So I might write it from time to time/it could come up, and there might be other times where I’m not comfortable/confident (and fading to black/time skipping is also a-okay with me, especially if you’re interested in exploring the aftermath/comfort that follows it, but not actually writing the smut part of that out). Though, keep in mind, when it comes to actually writing it out on my end, I’m more invested and interested in the emotional aspect that intimacy tends to bring with it/how it impacts the relationship (before, during, and after), and that does tend to be what I focus on when I write it (because I just find that part of it interesting to explore because my favorite things to write are character and relationship development). So, long story short, I’m selective with it.
PLOT / MEMES: Both are good! You’re always welcome to turn an ask or meme into a thread, and I find that it’s easier to start threads through asks/memes than it is through starters/a starter call so I very much enjoy them! But plotting is also nice, and I enjoy it! Sometimes, though, I have a million ideas, and it goes super well, and other times my head is completely empty and I have no thoughts whatsoever. But plotting also tends to make writing a starter/interacting easier, and also leads to interesting threads! So, I’m open to both!

[Been Through the Wars]
Hades’ starting quirk adds 3+ DT and 20% resistance to drugs and poisoning.
[Cut off One Head]
If choosen the “Warrior” end to his quest, adds 25% skill points to the Explosive, Guns and Survival skills.
[Happy Homesteader]
If choosen the “Retiree” end to his quest, adds 25% skill points to the Medicine, Repair and Barter skills.
Drops
If killed, does your oc drop anything?
Tesla’s Note -A note from Tesla to Hades about their plans to party after “all of this” is done.
Shot In The Dark -Hades’ unique shotgun that has unlimited slag ammo.
3-6x Hydra 10-12x Dynamite Cleaver
Worn Kings’ Outfit -Hades’ unique version of the Kings’ Outfit
Ruined Dogtags -NCR dogtags with the details scratched out
Quests and Recruitment
How does the courier recruit your oc? Write a short description where your oc is found and if there are any requirements to recruit them as a companion.
You receive the quest “King on His Own” from Pacer after G.I Blues quest is done in the Kings’ favour. He speaks about a member of the Kings that had to be kicked out after “going psycho” from drug withdrawal. He says that this member was really impressive in a fight and he’d like to see him come back to them. Problem is, it’s impossible to get him to go sober, so he asks the Courier if they could do anything.
You can find Hades either in a vagrant camp (usually the one near the Strip) or the Atomic Wrangler. At first he’s very depressed and generally lethargic. Having high reputation with the Kings allows you to hire him as a companion, but first he asks you to track down 5 bottles of Hydra and some whiskey for his “happy time cocktail”. Upon doing this he’ll take this “cocktail” and suddenly become more upbeat and flirtious (if the courier is male). If the courier is female he’ll seem reluctant to join you, but does after a 25 Speech check.
Bringing him back to Pacer leads to Pacer being disappointed in Hades, but he requests that you keep Hades around for a bit longer to see if you can help. Agreeing to this completes the quest and hires Hades as a proper companion with his quirk.
Personal quests are an important part of developing our companions. What is your oc’s personal quest(s), and what are the different ways the courier can complete them?
After travelling for some time, there’s a random chance you’ll witness Hades going through withdrawal. He’ll become very depressed and easily angered, fighting anything that comes within his perspective. Talking to him will give you the option of giving him Fixer which prompts him to open up more about himself.
He reveals he was born in a Vault set underneath an Arts Theatre. The musical scripts found in it is where his tribe gets their names from; he’s named after Hadestown: The Musical. He left his tribe as a young adult to seek adventure but was captured and sold into slavery.
He refuses to go into anymore detail. Passing a 50 Speech Check he’ll reveal that he was sold to an older women that lived in this fancy condo for rich people. He’ll shudder at the memory then end dialogue.
This prompts the beginning of his personal quest, “Why We Build the Wall”.
After completing three quests for the NCR, Hades will mention his distain for the NCR. Through dialogue it’s revealed he was a soldier for them but deserted during the Bitter Springs Massacre. Talking to Captain Gilles with Hades in the party will prompt a conversation between the two. Gilles is disappointed, but not surprise that Hades deserted them while Hades is bitter and disgusted that they’re still here. You can resolve the conversation peacefully with a Speech check of 30.
After becoming Liked by the Legion this prompts a conversation with Hades. He is neutral towards them, saying their slavery is horrifying but at least they protect their citizens. He says he’d rather join an honest evil than a dishonest good. You can then ask him about his time as a slave. Reluctantly he reveals that his owner would beat and assault him whenever something upset her. He’s biased against women because of this (something he apologizes for if the courier is female). He is gleeful as he reveals that he escaped after she had a heartattack at a party, but quickly becomes subdued again as he’s been wandering every since.
The last condition needed is to complete the quest “High Times” with Hades in the party. Upon completion he opens dialogue mentioning he drinks and uses drugs to forget his past. He says his companion, Tesla, is a complete amnesiac due to her excessive drug use and he’s kind of been hoping to have that happen to him too. But everytime he has a withdrawal, all those feelings he’s been bottling up just come out and start the cycle over again.
Through dialogue you get two choices to help him.
The “Warrior” end, has him continue to use drugs now adding in Buffout to help control his withdrawals. He becomes tougher and buries the past completely.
The “Retiree” end has him use drugs at a half dose, using more Fixer and visiting the Followers. He regains more skills and unlocks his Shack where he gives you supplies like ammo and different crafting scrap.
Ending Slides
Another important part of companions is their ending slides. How do their endings change based on how their quests are completed and how the courier decides to handle the world around them? Below is a short template listing the different main story outcomes. Feel free to change whatever you need to fit your OC’s story.
If their personal quest is never completed…
Hades, ever drifting between highs and lows, remained a vagrant to the very end. Haunted by his past, body deteriorating from alcoholism, he took his life outside of the Strip’s Gates: a symbol of how the Mojave can chew one up and spit them out.
If the Courier sides with Legion and Hades quest is completed with the Warrior Ending
As the Legion marched into Freeside they rounded up the drug addicts and vagrants. Most were executed on sight, some, like Hades, showed a battle prowess that impressed Caeser. Hades was cast into the Arena and after many battles, was finally slain. His body was burned in a sign of respect.
If the Courier sides with Legion and Hades quest is completed with the Retiree Ending
Hidden away in his shack, Hades escaped Legion sight for a long time. Upon finding the now sober Hades, they captured him and sold him to Aurelius of Pheonix (or Lucius if Aurelius is dead) as a repairs specialist. Though once again a slave, Hades accepted his fate and eventually passed of natural causes.
If the Courier sides with NCR and Hades quest is completed with the Warrior Ending
With the NCR taking over New Vegas, it wasn’t long before deserters were brought to justice. Hades refused arrest and fought until the very end, taking out many NCR soldiers in his wake. He eventually went down under a hail of bullets, screaming his bitterness to the skies.
If the Courier sides with NCR and Hades quest is completed with the Retiree Ending
With the NCR taking over New Vegas, it wasn’t long before deserters were brought to justice. Hades was brought before a trial and accepted his imprisonment. He lived out the rest of his days working in the mines, eventually dying in a mineshaft collapse, surrounded by other Kings.
If the Courier sides with House and Hades quest is completed with Any Ending
Hades, like many vagrants in Freeside, was either ignored by Mr House or shot down when his robots came strolling into the town. Being a friend of the Courier, he was left alone by other factions in Freeside; leading to a lonely, if peaceful, life.
If the Courier makes New Vegas independent and Hades quest is completed with Any Ending
Along with the other Kings in Freeside, Hades ruled and enjoyed a free life. In the chaos he often relapsed into using more dangerous drugs and whored himself out without care. Eventually, he passed after a bad, violent trip on pyscho which lead to him being killed in self defense.

Favorite shoes?
Probably my Guess sneakers. I don’t wear them often, but I love the design.

I love having a large circle, but I choose my best friends wisely. I only have about two or three of those and they’re the one’s I keep close to my heart.
Something that ruins your appetite?
This is a bit more dark, but my dad and I don’t bond outside video games. And he’s the type that believes it’s his way or no way no matter what. So if you get him angry he acts like a two-year-old who just got a toy taken away, and will try to push your buttons until you’re the same way. I saw the signs years ago, but whenever his anger is targeted at me I just don’t want to eat. I write instead.
Favorite labels about you?
As in names? It’s near 1 am while writing this so I might have just gone stupid. But I love it when my friends call me cutie. Or my good friend Charlie calls me Smarties. And he’ll pull out a smartie from his pocket when he does it. I also get called Reid, as in Spencer Reid, a lot.

Nope.
Age you learned how to swim?
Seven or eight.
Tell a funny story.
Maybe this is just funny to me, but earlier today my cat was trying to lick her coat but she set her front paw on a piece of paper and anytime she bent over to lick herself she slid and she would have to readjust herself. She did this like four times before she decided to move.
What’s one interesting thing about your culture?
As someone who is a part of the Navajo tribe, something neat is the more fat you have on your bones the more people respect you because they believe you have money.
What’s one annoying thing about your culture?
We can’t touch cold-blooded animals. It’s said if you touch the scales of a snake, or even breath in the same air, you’ll get the same skin as them.
What job would you be terrible at?
Accounting. I can’t do math to save my freaking life.
Would you rather watch a TV show or a movie?
TV shows.
What’s your favorite compliment to give?
“Cute Outfit!” or “Love the Hair!” You have no idea how many people light up on either of these, male/female/nonbinary. Looking good is a happiness found across all the spectrums.
What’s your favorite compliment to receive?
“Cute hair.” Or “Love your makeup/nails.”
Has your opinion changed on something recently?
I can’t remember. Like I said, it’s close to bedtime where I’m at and boi, it’s hard to concentrate right now.
Do you always order the same thing at a restaurant or order something different each time?
I order the same.
What’s something you’ve always wanted to try but haven’t yet?
This sounds awful, but I’ve always wanted to try ecstasy. I have buddies who’ve taken it and say, if you do it right, the first time is pretty bomb.
If you could learn to do anything right now, what would it be?
Singing. I can’t carry a tune.
Favorite physical feature about yourself?
My eyes.
Least favorite physical feature about yourself?
My wide hip/waist ratio. If my waist was thinner I wouldn’t mind as much.
What’s one amazing thing you did that nobody was around to see?
OKAY. I scored a strike on Wii bowling while i was on the toilet one time. Two rooms away and not even looking at a screen. Just using my heart and determination and it was SUPER COOL AND I WISH PEOPLE COULD HAVE SEEN THOSE SKILLS.
If you could change your height, would you?
Yes. Everyone is a good foot taller than me. So I would most definitely want a few more inches.
What’s something you would rate 10/10?
Final Fantasy 7 Remake’s Character concept for Sephiroth. The eyes, the height, the hair. WOW. In love.
Heels or flats?
Heels
What’s something you wish you had more knowledge about?
Politics. I want to get more involved but every time I do I get so confused.
Would you want to be famous?
I wouldn’t mind. But I value my private life.
What’s something you would get arrested for?
Well I already almost got arrested for eating tacos in a closed park at 3 am. So maybe that.
What’s your spirit animal?
A cat.
What’s the luckiest thing that’s ever happened to you?
The fact that I graduated high school. I was developing anxiety and literally had no idea what the frick was happening with me and no one told me what it was. So I ended up skipping loads of school for that reason.
Are you the type to have an organized mess, or no mess at all?
Organized mess. Or just a mess.
Do you tend to make decisions based on the past, present, or future?
The future.
Are you a planner or a more spontaneous person?
Planner. I hate when things are sprung on me last minute. I have to emotionally prep up before a social event so 5-10 business days are needed.
Thoughts on the oxford comma?
I was taught to use it, but it’s literally so useless? I found myself either not using it or just doing it on instinct. So in one story you could probably find multiple instances where I use it and where I don’t use it, maybe in the same paragraph. I just do whatever fits that moment I guess.
What do you hope never changes?
My squad. I love them to pieces and it would break my heart if at some point they’d want to split.
How would you celebrate your 100th birthday?
Something extremely dangerous like skydiving or zip lining across a canyon.

One thing I really like about the comic so far is how... passive the worldbuilding is? Like we had to be told what the challenge is early on, but, like, it's left up to the reader to figure out which races correspond with which sign, what prejudices this world has, etc. My favorite character is Elder Rion. It's interesting how he seems to walk on two legs too, yet even members of the higher ups are prejudiced against Fay. Like, do people refuse to throw ceremonies for him too?
rajmews
It's interesting how a lot of the countries in this world have a history of war and it seems like it's very on the edge of maybe falling into war again (but maybe I'm just reading into it too much? it's still early on in the story) yet they're coming together for this trail. Like an Olympic Games of sorts.
snuffysam (Super Galaxy Knights)
Yeah that is interesting, and I'm wondering how that will play out as the champions travel across the continent. Like, to a certain extent, the champions will probably be respected, but I get the feeling some countries will be way more hostile than others...
MissGreenie
Hey guys, I’m the author of Zodiac! I’m really enjoying hearing your feedback so far as I would like to continue making the comic. Ever since quarantine happened, I lost the drive to start drawing the other chapters I’ve scripted out. Looking forward to seeing more as the week progresses : )
RebelVampire
What I like about the beginning of the comic was just kind of the no fuss about the world and, as @snuffysam (Super Galaxy Knights) termed it, the passive worldbuilding. I like that this comic kind of leaves me to my own devices to figure everything out and lets me gather information sheerly from how everyone in the world interacts and talks about things. My favorite moment in the comic so far was actually the bandit situation when Fay tried to rescue Elle. I kind of liked the attitude that Elle and Fay both had about it, plus I liked this mystery it opened up with Elle. Since it was pretty clear Elle was gonna come back, and now all I want to know is what Elle was up to and why come 180 that travel destination. Insofar, my favorite character is Leonard. I like Leonard's general personality just cause it's a lot warmer in contrast to a lot of the other characters. He's the sort of character I just want to give a big hug to, basically. As for characters interacting though, probably Fay and Elder Rion. I'm really interested to see how Elder Rion is gonna mentor Fay and I just overall like the respect that exists there despite them both being rather opposite. So I think it just makes for interesting interactions I can't quite predict. As for the art, I really like the overall style. It's simple and sometimes the lines purposefully wiggle, and I think that it gives the story a lot of character and emotion. In terms of themes, I really like this comic is exploring rich vs. poor with Leonard. Sometimes it's easy to just blame someone rich for everything, but just cause someone comes from a rich family doesn't mean they're magically responsible for everything bad. Even further, though, the comic also still leaves that door open for whether Leonard is obligated to do more because of his class privelege. So I'm interested to see where this all goes.
For the comic's overall story/content, again, the world-building. I just that it's this gradual thing as there's a good balance between stuff I don't understand but stuff I do. So I can always find a grounding element even when I want to know more. Which I do think this is the comic's strength since it let's you get right into the narrative without zounds of exposition.
Comic Tea Party
DISCUSSION PROMPTS – PART 2
9. Given the comic’s themes of discrimination, stereotyping, and more, which moment stood out to you the most? How do you think these themes will continue to affect the characters, and how might they grow from them (if at all)?
10. Do you think Fay’s team will learn to cooperate as they work towards a common goal? Also, why do you think Leonard and Elle are personally participating? How might this change how Fay sees them?
11. What do you think some of the other challengers are like? In what ways will they challenge Fay and her team? Alternatively, in what ways might gaps be healed and everyone bond?
12. Do you think Fay’s team will ultimately succeed and move to the final round? If so, how will that change things? Also, how would winning change Fay’s life, and would it be all she dreamed of?
Don’t feel inspired by the prompts? Feel free to discuss anything else that interested you!
snuffysam (Super Galaxy Knights)
yeah it's interesting how much of this story focuses on people making assumptions about others as soon as they meet them. even down to the initial challenge - everyone assumed that elder rion was looking for something shiny & gold because he's an important guy, but it turned out that the old slingshot was the real key. something i'm intrigued by is that Fay, our protagonist, also falls into this, despite being a victim of stereotyping herself. like she assumed things about leonard, she guessed that the ring seller was a scammer at first glance, and she didn't even intentionally pick the correct item for elder rion's trial. it really shows that nobody is immune to biases.
RebelVampire
I liked that too about Fay, @snuffysam (Super Galaxy Knights) . That despite it all, she also is just as willing to participate in the culture of discrimination. The moment that stood out to me the most was when whoever that dude was said they weren't going to celebrate Fay being chosen. Cause there's discrimination...and then there's super jackass discrimination. And that was the latter. It also stood out to me cause of the contrast with a later scene, where Fay is told she can't participate in an archery thing because she's from a group of what's considered to be natural archers. And I think that kind of really captures the fact that not all flavors of discrimination are the same. I think all the character will learn that individuals are not their stereotype, and that in some ways they'll all come out better for it. I think Fay's team will cooperate eventually. I do think someone will need to slap Fay and remind her sabotaging them is sabotaging herself. So even if there's bitterness, they'll at least aim for that similar goal. As for why Leonard and Elle are participating, Leonard at least I think is trying to prove something to himself and/or his family. As for Elle, I think Elle is after power in order to find something. I think in some ways this will flip how Fay sees them now, wherein she'll think more of Leonard and less of Elle. As for the other challengers, I want to assume somewhere between Team Fire and Team Water. In that they aren't there to be jerks but aren't there to lose either. I do think one team will instantly be able to cooperate though. But I think regardless of what they're like the interactions will make them all rethink that perhaps what they've heard about each group is not entirely accurate. I think Fay's team will succeed to the final round, if not just for the fact they're the protagonists. I do think winning won't be everything Fay wanted it to be though, mostly because I don't think Fay has the best grasp on what she wants.
mathtans
So, first thing I want to do here is just offer a thumbs up of encouragement. It can be tough when real life stuff kind of takes over. Graduation, moving, job, then the whole pandemic thing... kinda sucks. But I like to think I get it. I've been writing a time travel story since, like, 2001 (when I graduated University) and I'm still poking away at it in my very rare spare time. The story wants to be told. So, we find something in ourselves to keep at it. It's nice that you returned.
And don't necessarily let art pages not being at some standard get in the way. Like I'm one to talk since my drawing skill is way poor, but anyway.
1. The beginning framing was very clever, I thought, with the classroom. Allows for exposition (somewhat subverted there), we see our protagonist is older, and is trying to improve herself despite having trouble making ends meet, which also comes up.
2. Favourite moment is probably back in Chapter 3, page 19. The exchange of "That could have been me back there"; "But it wasn't, let's keep moving". There's an echo there to whatever happened in Fay's past some panels earlier, when she came home (perhaps a point when she wished it hadn't been her) and the idea that you have to keep moving forwards.
Then the point was echoed again when talking to Elder Rion, about her picking the slingshot, and he told her not to dwell on what "could have been" (or words to that effect, sorry, not going to look up exact phrasing). I think it's a good message.
There's also the fact that the other Sags clearly are going to dwell on this with the cancellation. I feel like there's layers. Anyway.
3. I think I'll have to echo snuffy in Elder Rion as favourite character. He's just so anti-establishment, like "don't worry about my title" and "I'm not picking some gold trinket" and "the last challenger was so boring". But at the same time he knows he has a role in this and spoke of the gift giving to be well regarded in the Circle. This guy's seen a lot and knows things.
4. For character interaction, I'd say Fay and Elle. Fay's pretty headstrong, it's easy to push her buttons, and Elle has been acting as a pretty good calming influence. But at the same time she knows when an intervention might be needed like with Castor. I could also see Fay being a bit of a lightning rod, drawing attention away from Elle, which feels like it's in her interests... idk.
That said, runner up is what we've seen of Castor and Kukah. Like the latter is kind of an open book, and Castor's almost got to remind him who he's supposed to be rooting for. Some of Castor's reaction expressions were quite funny.
5. Art is really not my forte. >.< One thing that struck me looking back is there weren't massively detailed backgrounds, and yet I didn't even really notice that. It's got the focus in the right places, is what I think I'm trying to say. (So maybe a bit like what Rebel said already?) I also did notice improvement through the last few pages.
6. Related to the previous moment above, one theme might be soldiering on even against overwhelming odds. Sometimes, you just get lucky (and sometimes, like with capturing the thief by dropping the pot, you can make some of your own luck). But I think there's a deeper one about race here too.
Namely the whole 'half breed' thing. For one thing, if only one of Fay's parents were a Sag, what does that make the other? And what made her identify as a Sag, rather than the other sign? (Is the other sign Aquarius, which would have made her a slave, is that it? Wondering based on Fay's recent reaction.) It certainly doesn't seem to be appearance that was the main deciding factor in her choice, which of course is largely why she's being so shunned (she looks different). It could have been marksmanship.
(Random aside, it's interesting how the "item selection" process really was more up to the Gods versus some sort of skill based process. I mean, I could see it as a method for narrowing the pool but I'm surprised it resulted in the choice outright.)
I mean, there's also the possibility that the choice wasn't up to Fay at all, and it was chosen by her parents. It IS interesting how you can just say "I identify as a xxxx" and people are cool with that, not asking to see birth certificate records or anything. Does that make aspects of their society more tolerant? Or does it simply make it easier to single someone out?
7. Regarding story and related content... I was immediately curious about what happened 12 years earlier when that was brought up (the 'greed' thing), and it was neat to see the 'Lore' page startup after that to provide a bit of information (without giving up the whole game too). There was also the bit with Jupiter... and, like, did they conquor Uranus? It's the only planet I'm not noticing on the map. (And there could be an obvious zodiac connection to why, I'm not an expert.) I guess what I'm saying is there are definite questions out there that keep you wondering but that don't interfere with the story itself. So that's clever.
8. In terms of strength I think there's a relatable protagonist with an interesting world that you know has a lot more to it than you're seeing. I'll come back to deal with other questions late tonight or tomorrow.
MissGreenie
Jupiter conquered Uranus, yes, it no longer exists and that’s why most Aquarians are enslaved. There’s really no Zodiac connection to that, I just wanted there to be some tension between two countries and to show that Leos/Jupiter are more or less the powerhouse of the world
Also I don’t remembered if this has been explicitly stated yet, (it’s hard to remember my own story LOL) but Aquarians are very strong, can lift pretty heavy stuff, so they’re seen as kind of the perfect servants
Comic Tea Party
DISCUSSION PROMPTS – PART 3
13. What are you most looking forward to seeing in regards to the comic?
14. Any final words of encouragement for the comic?
Don’t feel inspired by the prompts? Feel free to discuss anything else that interested you!
mathtans
That makes sense. And I don't think it was explicitly stated, but it was at least implicitly, in terms of Leonard's description of the other person living there and Fay jumping to the conclusion that it meant an Aquarian.
9. One moment that stood out to me in terms of discrimination was when the Sagitarrius guy cancelled the dinner. Like, I get that they're not thrilled but seems like there would be implications for outright cancelling (not sure what Elder Rion would say about it for one). Yet the guy was all, screw it, we're cancelling, like not even worried about that. So much for the thought that Fay would begin to gain some respect among peers for being chosen.
Though I also wonder a bit about Fay's latest reaction. Like, she was willing to go along with Leonard (even given him embellishing stories) until she saw he was rich, now she's stereotyping him in with the rest of the Leos. If the prejudice runs that deep, wouldn't it have come up before? But then maybe she saw him as like someone in her position. In any event it will be interesting to see Fay coming to grips with her own issues there.
I suppose I've echoed Rebel a bit there. Interesting point about the archery thing later, like she kind of can't exist in either world.
10. I think Fay's team has already cooperated to an extent in how they handled Castor. They're better at coming together when there's an external influence; they don't know enough about each other yet to work internally. So they might blunder a bit into a solution but I think they'll stay on track. Elle, it might also have something to do with her appearance (I don't think we've seen her without the cloak), Leonard might be trying to prove himself given how I don't think he's the stereotypical type for his sign. I think Fay may have to put her foot in her mouth to change her initial preconceptions (just because she's pretty impulsive) but will get there. Or as Rebel said, maybe someone else will have to point it out explicitly.
Hadn't considered the flip from Elle to Leonard, that's interesting, Rebel.
11. We've mostly only seen the fire group so far, and that's an interesting dynamic. (Marena has good facial expressions too.) Maybe one of the groups will cheat, and be called out for it, related to what happened 12 years ago? It might be interesting too if there's a round where two groups have to work together against the other two groups.
And then there's that whole "sign form" thing, which is apparently not legal in towns. Nice hinting there... maybe that's how a group will cheat, or maybe someone does a sign form to save someone else so they get a pass (or do-over) even though they didn't achieve some goal? Don't even know what it means yet, of course.
12. I feel like they will get to the final round, but it might be because one of the other teams gets disqualified or something, like they didn't necessarily do it all on their own merits. And then of course they'll have to go against each other (I presume) in order to pick the top sign, and that's where things could really change, depending on how much they've revealed about themselves. Will Fay will overall? If she does, I don't think it will really be what she wants, whereas if she doesn't, I think it will be because she's found what she wanted. Again Rebel made a good point there, she's a bit directionless.
Though I also think she's simply so used to being taken advantage of, and looked down on, and ignored, that the whole "you win the thing" is not something she knows how to handle, even at this stage. (She "won" the coin purse and used it to pay off her debts, but that was more a result of actions she took.) Then there's whatever happened in her past when she "failed" and came home, which probably hooks in somehow.
I'll return for Part 3 likely tomorrow...
RebelVampire
I am most looking forward to just seeing the actual challenge starting since that will really speak on how the team dynamics will be and so forth. And I think it'll be good to find out which each character is bringing to the table in terms of skills, which can lead to interesting speculation for the future. My final words are this is a truly interesting world, so I hope to see it continue and learn more about it.
mathtans
13. Hoping to see... well, there's a couple things. Character wise I'm wondering about whether Elder Rion would have anything to say about Fay's opinions about Leonard, in part since he'll be a teammate. Also wondering about the rest of the teams (nice move in the colour coding during the introduction) though I can wait longer on that since the Water/Fire dynamic has been set up well to play out.
Then plot-wise I'm wondering about the "sign form" thing. Both what it is and how it's regulated, particularly during the tournament. And maybe it has a connection to the events of 12 years ago? But maybe not. Also there's Fay's history (which I feel will be plot relevant) in terms of what happened that time she came home and why she's opted to go Sagitarrius rather than the sign of her other parent. But maybe that's character too.
14. Encouragement probably echos back what I said at the start. It can be tough, when you've had to take a hiatus because of life and stuff. And then you just start to get going and life goes crazy again. But it sounds like you've got a lot of the story roughed out, so see what you can do with it, if you're able! And don't necessary worry if art doesn't feel like it's at a particular standard, there will always be improvements we want to do, it all comes with time. But something has to be out there in order to see the progression. Best with it!
(Oh yeah... and there hasn't really been any talk of shipping... should we ship Fay and Elle? Is that a thing we can do? Someone else feel free to chime in with a better choice.)
rajmews
For final words of encouragement I just want to say it's a really neat world, and I can see that the author put a lot of time in making it--with the maps and the different cultures and all their histories. I know that things have been nuts lately so it's hard to create, but thank you for making what you've done so far, to give us a cool world to explore for a little while.

the declassified texts from the inquisition’s elite [77]
(812): I just learned that I could drop out of school and spend the rest of my savings on a giraffe are you free this weekend
-
(306): It's a draw. You need to settle it in Smash, Soul Calibur, and/or rock-paper-scissors, the last of which Steve claims is bullshit.
-
“I can’t believe your cousin is just going to drop out of school for a giraffe,” Edric says, frowning as he checks through files of resumes and applications. “Malika, don’t say yes.”
“But Uncle Edric, when’s the next time I’m going to get to hang out with a giraffe?”
“You can go to a zoo for that.”
“But it’s crowded at the zoo.”
“Malika.”
“What’s this about a giraffe?” Maxwell asks, knocking on the doorframe, “Josephine’s sent me with more applications. How’s it going in here?”
“Slow,” Edric says, “We need to cut using a temp agency, we’re getting enough applicants on our own without one. Set those over there. Are you heading back to Josephine?”
“No, but I can if you want me to drop some off with her,” Max says. “I’ve got an hour until I’m supposed to leave for the conference downtown.”
“Isn’t that the one Evelyn’s at?”
“Yeah, she left early,” Max says, picking up a pile of applications and flipping through them. “These are the approved ones for further review and call ins?”
“No, those are the ones that need background checks because there’s no way that they’re being honest on those job experience and reference sections,” Edric says. “I know some of those companies went out of business or got bought out and changed and it’s not lining up with the timelines applicants provided. I think there’s enough similarity between some of them that we might have a few people just sharing the same application and copy pasting with some minor edits to make them look different.”
“Oof. Didn’t they sign a form stating that whatever they put on here was legitimate?” Maxwell asks.
“I don’t think they thought they’d get caught. We should check it out. If there’s anything really shady going on then we can consider taking action on it,” Edric says.
“They could be spies,” Malika adds helpfully. “Also my cousin’s in her second year of college and she’s paying like. Crazy amounts for it but is also miserable about everything involving school and is only going because her parents are making her.”
“I remember what college was like, yeah.”
“So she figures she can drop out and use the money her parents are forcing her to spend on college to buy a giraffe and some land for it and start a giraffe sanctuary.”
Maxwell’s eyebrows raise up. “Is she…fond of giraffes?”
“Not really. I think it was just the first animal she found a cost for? Or maybe she just heard about giraffe costs randomly? You know? Like how the internet is sometimes?”
“Absolutely. Isn’t it her parent’s money though?”
“Clearly it’s not about to stop her.” Malika shrugs as she continues texting on her phone.
“Tell him where this is,” Edric says, marking up another resume and cover letter with a red pen.
“Oh, yeah, it’s in the Free Marches.”
“Your cousin wants to have a giraffe sanctuary in the middle of the Free Marches? You know — that’s not — typically giraffes aren’t too fond of areas like the Free Marches.”
“I guess she didn’t want to move to south Orlais or Antiva. Cost of living in Orlais is crazy high, you know? Even in the countryside.”
-
“Steve?” Cullen frowns. “That name — “
“Is one of the most common names you can give a person? Yes.”
“No, well. Yes. That’s very true. But also — isn’t Steve one of the people Mahanon as investigating right before he was buried alive?”
“Yes, he most certainly is,” Leliana says. “On the side, of course. Since that wasn’t Mahanon’s main assignment and one he just picked up for himself. He’s such an overachiever sometimes.”
“And — why is he still in contact with Steve?”
“Because Mahanon’s life is built around drama, thrills, extremely powerful tropes and conventions, and exists solely to provide entertainment for others.”
“Leliana.”
“What? It’s true. If you say that to his face he’ll just nod or give you that one tired sigh he always does. I would know, I’ve said it to him myself. And either of you tell me I’m not right. That man’s life is just filled with stories that are absolutely unbelievable on paper. If someone were to pitch his life as a movie — if someone were to just pitch a week in his life as a movie it would never get green lit because it’s so beyond the realm of believability. The only one worse is his sister.”
“Why is Mahanon still in contact with Steve?” Josephine repeats the question for Cullen who’s pushed away from his desk and walked over to a window to just stare out of it. Mahanon is not the only one who lives in a movie world, she thinks. Cullen looks like a stereotypical movie poster right now. All this scene needs is a monochromatic wash and a tagline.
“Steve doesn’t seem to realize that Mahanon was not who he said he was and is never going back and that they are indeed friends,” Leliana reports. “Mahanon’s letting this go on because, frankly, he doesn’t care one way or the other about this and isn’t willing to put in the effort to make Steve understand what’s going on. Also there’s a slim chance Steve might stumble onto something new and tip us off. So that’s a contact we can maybe look forward to seeing pay off.”
“How has Steve not realized that Mahanon was obviously an Inquisition plant?”
“Steve isn’t the brightest bulb in the batch, Cullen. And to be fair — I don’t think Steve would care either way. He’s just that kind of person. It doesn’t matter what you are or what you do as long as you do you and it doesn’t mess him up too much.”
“How would you know what kind of person Steve is? You only know him through anecdotal evidence submitted by a biased reporter.”
“Please. We all know Steve. We all have a Steve in our lives.” Leliana pauses. “I think the Iron Bull is my Steve.”

Day 3 at Japan Expo Malaysia (28th July 2019)
Today was the last day. The day that I would last see the KiREI members. Cue gonna be a cry baby and go through Post Concert Depression (look it up hahah). Since I wanted to make the most of it, I wore the KiREI T-shirt I bought the first day I met them, which is gorgeous by the way (albeit it was a stock from their concert in Bangkok), especially the back side and I really love it!
As I said in the part one in Day 2’s report, I promised Hanapii that I was gonna draw an illustration for them. But here’s the thing, I initially thought to just post it on Twitter, but then my father said, “You should show them tomorrow” and that was exactly what I did! Now, the previous night’s adrenaline rush and fatigue was no joke, I was so exhausted, and my mind was so jumbled since I was still processing what happened at AKB48’s concert and at the airport (toldya it was VERY overwhelming). Thankfully I brought my drawing tablet in this trip (I don’t know why I did, but thank God I did). I barely finished sketching until I succumbed to exhaustion and went to sleep. The next morning I literally finished breakfast within 10 minutes and went back to our room and stayed there to finish the illustration. Since their last concert started at 2, and I had like 3 hours left to finish it (I wanted to be there by 1). Thankfully I finished on time and I quickly made my way to Pavilion.
When I arrived, once again I was surprised with the lack of people waiting at the stage (outdoor by the way), and this time I didn’t care what people thought and I just stood at the front row under the blazing sun, all in black clothes, and texting to my Discord fellas (lol). So first Austin and another host went up the stage and gave a quick introduction about KiREI and apparently KiREI was made up of 3 disbanded idol groups named “Tokyo Clear’s Smile” (this is the group where Hanapii originally came from, which I found out a couple nights ago lol), “Spring Chubit” and “Astarisk”. The girls were called in and dear gosh! Today they wore yukata again, but different designs than the first day! I just really like it when J-idols wear yukatas or any form of traditional clothing. It’s even more amazing that these girls were not just dancing, but also jumping in them! You have to admire their abilities, if not, impressed, cuz here’s the thing some of their dances were pretty vigorous, and after seeing their performances 3 times now, I could tell that Chori-chan is the ‘genki’ girl as she tended to jump the highest, dance with the most energy and also the one to rile up the audience. Miayan has the best and brightest smile that would capture anyone’s hearts (which explained why she has a fan account). Meanwhile Hanapii has the best balance in terms of her dance, her movements weren’t too extreme, and the fluidity and precision made her dance moves better, hence for me she’s the best dancer among the trio.
For this performance, Mianyan noticed me the most and as I said, her smiles were SO BLINDING! I could feel myself getting overcome by it that I had to look through my camera lens instead of my own eyes lmaoooo. Since I’m heavily biased for Hanapii I tended to look at her the most, and I couldn’t help but realized that she seemed a bit down today. I guess it wasn’t surprising since 3 days straight of performing and doing meet-and-greets could tire anyone. However, when she made eye contacts, she made sure to smile as much as she could (God I love her). Meanwhile, Chori-chan climbed in my Oshimen radar because of her bright and energetic interactions with the audience, including myself, especially whenever she invited the audience to chant with her. She’s really like the Takamina in this trio (that’s what I call ‘charisma’!)
Before they started the fifth song, Chori-chan told us that it would be their last song (cue the “Eeeeehhh~” by the audience), and I started to sob and felt my heart twinge a bit. Emotions from the previous night in the airport kind of resurfaced and once again I told myself to not cry or that would make them feel bad if they noticed. Their last song was ‘Dame Otoko’ and I’d say this was my most favorite after ‘Say Yeah! Away!’ (which I kept humming and singing to when I was at the airport the night before) and ending it with this song just made it twice the impact. The performance went splendidly but there was one point again the tears just started to leak, and I had to use my camera to hide my face. Again, I was like “NO. Don’t ruin this for them!”
After they were done, they girls professed their love for being in Malaysia, wanting to come back again (OH HECK YAS, please come back again! And I will too!) Then everyone was called for the obligatory group picture, and now me being in the first row finally paid off!
After the photo session the girls needed some time to freshen up for the last greet-and-meet session. And being the excited fan I was, I waited nearby at their booth, trying not to stand out as much as I could lol. When the booth opened, I immediately lined up behind some prepared fans. This time the man who was selling the merch definitely remembered me as he was like “Welcome back!” This time I was gonna be greedy and bought two Cheki tickets for each member and a towel. He was counting the total cost and I told him “Sanbyaku ringgit (300 ringgit)” which impressed him, and he was like “Oh! Your Japanese is good!” While I was telling him that wasn’t true, he noticed the KiREI T-shirt I was wearing and smiled even more. Honestly I really wanted to shake his hand right then and there, to thank him for his great work, but we just ended up chatting a bit more hahahah.
Before I was about to join the line, Hanapii saw me and she thought I was gonna immediately take pictures with her (oh you sweet darling). But I told her that today I was going to take pictures with everyone, and that I would start from Mianyan, then Chori-chan and finally her. When I went to the line Chori-chan spotted me and immediately assumed that I was gonna take pics with Hanapii as she asked “With Hanapii, right?” I told her I was gonna take pictures with everyone this time, and she was VERY happy, as in she started hopping (ADORABLE).
So I took a picture with Mianyan first. She kept saying I was cute and ‘comel’ (Malay for ‘cute’) and she wrote that on the polaroid frame. I told her where I was from, and since she had a confused look (cuuuuuteee) so I explained the location. I also thanked her for following me on Twitter (she was the first one who followed me). For the first round she and I took a pic with the freshly bought towel hahaha (she was really impressed that I wore their T-shirt too). I was gonna take another picture with her since I bought 2 tickets for each of them but she needed to assist to take pictures for other people, so being the social awkward I was, I stood back awkwardly and ended up going back in line since I wasn’t sure if I should’ve stayed and wait for Hanapii and Chori-chan to be free so I could take pictures with them.
While I was lining up in the very long line I realized Hanapii ran past me to the end of the line to give the last guy a sign that says ‘the end of line’ ah so adorable, at the same time I guiltily thought “Ah crap, I bought 6 tickets which meant I basically took 4 to 5 people’s chance to interact with the girls…!” When I reached them, I made sure to use two of my Cheki tickets in one go so that I didn’t have to go back in line as I specifically said, “Two tickets”. Chori-chan was so happy when I said I was using two tickets (can she get more adorable??). The first round she and I did a heart pose and when she was signing it poor girl thought my main name was “Nagatsuki” she actually remembered me on Twitter (gasp!) and she double confirmed my name with Hanapii like “‘Nura-chan’ dakke? (Was it ‘Nura-chan’?” And Hanapii was like, “Un! Nura-chan!” LOOOL! Before taking a picture for the second round, I told her on my Twitter I post my art and showed her an illustration of them that I made. She went “Amazing!” so many times I thought she was going fangirling as she started hopping on the spot (SO KYOOT). For the second round she held me close with one hand while her other hand was patting my head (I find this a bit endearing since she and I are about the same height while the other two are taller). While waiting for the polaroid to print and while she was signing them she kept saying I was cute and all, then asked if I was travelling so I told her that I came here in order to visit the event, that I was willing to fly over. She then asked me to come and see them again in Japan and before I could even respond she pulled my pinky with hers and made a pinky promise looooooooool. I remember I was so shocked that I stuttered, “Ahhh yeah yeah I’ll definitely try”.
Since Mianyan was busy I had to take pictures with Hanapii first in order to let the line go smoothly. I don’t care how many times she has greeted me with the cutesy “Nura-chan~~~” my heart still fluttered so much! Before we could take a picture, I mentioned about the previous day’s promise that I’d draw something for them and showed my illustration to her. She was like “Eh?!?! No way!” as I told her that I finished it earlier that day. She was so shocked that she was speechless and Chori came over to us and was like “Amazing right! She even drew my red ribbon!” while pointing at my phone. They traded a couple of words together and I just stood there smiling like an idiot. So we ended up taking a picture with that illustration lol.
For the second round, Hanapii was so happy with my visits, my support and the illustration that she was thanking me so many times and she literally hugged me so closely for the picture (I’m not joking, even I was like “Is hugging okay???” and she was like “Yes its completely okay!”). I thought that I still needed to put some distance between our faces, just as precaution, but nope, Hanapii pulled me so close that our cheeks were touching each other! IM SO GLAD IM A GIRL cuz so far I’d seen when they hugged guys (I was the only girl who lined up for the meet-and-greet), they still put some distance. So yeah, I was SO HAPPY with how Hanapii treated me. I then told her that I teared up a bit during their last song since it was their last day and she was like “Eehh don’t cry~” and started patting my head. She then said, “Let’s meet again in Japan, I’ll wait for you.” I thought I’ve died enough. But this comment, THIS COMMENT. I remember I blanked out for a second or two and just nodded (I couldn’t make that promise since I needed to consider my circumstances but MAN I WANTED TO PROMISE HER SO BAD). I was very reluctant to leave and this may sound pretentious but it seemed like she didn’t want me to go either cuz when she held my hands it was firmer than the last 3 times she shook my hands. Before leaving she asked me if I was gonna attend the closing ceremony later that night. Sweetheart you know I won’t miss it for the world so I promised her that I would.
For the last handshake I told Mianyan that I cried during their last performance and she was like “Ehhh~ don’t cry~ were they happy tears?” I took a second or two to rethink my words and spewed “It was both happy and grieving tears since this is the last day” hence we both ended up laughing. I was gonna show her the illustration on my phone, she ended up commenting my Murayama Yuiri lockscreen “Ooh~ cute!” and I almost had to bite my tongue to stop myself from saying “Ah that’s another idol (who happens to be my waifu)” so I just giggled a thanks. Thankfully she was also very happy with the illustration that she took the phone from me (she also added I must post it on Twitter). She then asked me if I just started liking idols (girl if only you knew hahah) so I told her I’ve always loved idols. After taking the picture, Chori-chan told us I was good at winking (I didn’t realize I winked to be honest) so Mianyan went “Ehh seriously??” and quickly checked the polaroid frame and was like “Oh yeah!” while I was fluttering, going “oh nononono, I didn’t mean to do that”. Then she asked something I did not see coming, “Can you do it to me?” and I was like “Eh?” then she said SO CUTELY “A wink”. I laughed embarrassingly at first, but I did it anyway and she was soooo happy. I knew Mianyan is the boldest among this trio but guuurrrrllll you’re climbing on my Oshimen radar too strong! And that’s how I ended my last meet-and-greet session with KiREI members in Malaysia.
Day 2 reports are here (KiREI) and here (AKB48)! To be continued in Closing Ceremony!

thoughts on the cw the lost boys recastings?
Not really? LOL I mean I had to google lost boys recasting because I’ve gotten a couple asks about it this week but this was the first one that mentioned recasting, and I had had no idea why all of a sudden ppl were asking about it again, so...*shrugs*
So I guess the CW didn’t like the pilot that was shot and they released all the cast from their contracts except for two of the lesser known names. I mean sure, I’m kinda bummed that we won’t get Posey playing a vampire in a campy CW show that’ll likely be at least as terrible as TW if not worse, lolol, but that’s literally about as high as my expectations ever went? I’m sure he’ll land something else soon enough.
I know people are always looking to make a big deal about this sort of thing, and so anyone’s free to believe me or not or assume I’m biased because of what a huge Posey stan I obviously am, but tbh....its really not that big a deal. This sort of thing happens all the time, its just nobody outside the industry really pays attention except when its involving a specific project or show they’re interested in, or an actor, so it seems less common from that perspective than it actually is, but like...honestly, this kinda thing happens at least once a pilot season, if not more.
Like literally all that happened, far as I can tell, is the CW passed on the pilot. That’s it. That happens allllllll the time, with something like 70% of the pilots shot every pilot season never seeing the light of day. That’s actually a conservative estimate.
The only thing that’s different from the rest of that 70% here, that puts this in the ‘usually only happens once or twice a pilot season,’ is that the CW didn’t scrap the whole project, and are looking to recast. Usually when that happens, its for one of two reasons: its a passion project for someone hide up on the food chain like one of the executive bigwigs, or else their option on the IP is about to expire and they either are afraid they won’t be able to re-up on it because someone else is looking to horn in, or they don’t want to waste their investment in the project so far but still don’t want to commit for yet another year with nothing to show for it either.
We’re talking about Lost Boys here, so my guess is it could be either, or even more likely, a combination of both. It’s a cult classic with a sizable following and big footprint in the vampire genre. I’m sure there are always people looking to snatch the option for it up the second it becomes available again. The CW’s had this project in development hell for a number of years from what I can see, ever since Rob Thomas first wanted to do something with it for them, and that means the option’s been tied up for years and this is the first time they’ve even gone all the way to pilot with it.
So if they still can’t make it to air with a new pilot and pass on that too, they’ll have to go back to whoever holds the IP rights for the movie and try and re-up again for another year (idk who that is, could be Schumacher, could be the studio that produced the movie, it depends). And if they’ve already had the option tied up for this many years, I guarantee the second word got out that the CW had passed on their pilot, people started making calls and making sure the source option holder knew they were interested, should the option become available again. Which means the holder of the original IP rights now has additional leverage to make the CW pay a higher price to re-up, or else they’ll take their option elsewhere, to the many others who are interested.
And trust me, the CW doesn’t want that. Because then they’ll have to decide if they want to let it go, despite all the money sunk into it over the years already.....or if they want to hang on to it, pay even more than usual to re-up, in addition to the money they dropped this year on one, possibly even two pilots. I’m sure at least some of the people in the decision-making chain at the CW are fans of the original movie, given the nature of most of the shows the CW greenlights, so its pretty much a given that some of them really WANT to see something come out of this option, but sooner or later every studio has to cut their losses and walk away, and I suspect from not just them going back to the drawing board, but going back this late in the year, that there’s a degree of urgency to this that you don’t see most years, meaning they’re probably on the brink of having to make that call. If they pass on this second pilot, whenever they reshoot, I wouldn’t be surprised if they then go ahead and let their option expire next year.
As for everyone but two actors being recast.......okay, so look, this is part of where the whole ‘there are reasons I don’t really ‘stan’ for actors the way most people on social media do’ thing I’m always going on about, lol. Yeah a large part of that has to do with having worked with so many actors the shine has worn off and I’m very aware they’re just people no different from anyone you work with, and you’d find it very odd to stan for a random coworker of yours, I’d imagine. But another part of it is just.....my perspective on the industry and actors is from a very different angle from most peoples’, so a lot of the times I’m just kinda....bwuh, at the things people make a big deal out of, if that makes sense?
Like I mean, as I said, this is literally the first I heard about the show being recast, I haven’t been keeping up with any news or gossip about it at all, but I know, I just KNOW that there are people reading a lot into this, either in support of Posey or looking to make digs at him for....what to my POV....very likely has absolutely fuck all to do with the cast at all?
LMAO. Like I just mean, in my perspective, it wouldn’t even occur to me to assume the actors all gave shitty performances or were a let down and that’s why they’re all being recast, at least, were it not for years on social media making me aware that is a common assumption.
Like...nope, that’s really not a thing that happens, like, it literally just doesn’t. Again, people can believe me or not, but I promise, I PROMISE, there has been no pilot in the history of ever, where almost the entire cast was recast because every single one of them phoned in a shitty performance. Nope. Look, no matter HOW long you’ve worked in the industry, pilots are NOT easy to come by. Pilot season is hands down THE most competitive time of the year for any actor, on pretty much any level. Unless we’re talking actors who don’t even have to be cast because their involvement is the only reason a project is happening, that sorta thing.....NO ACTOR EVER TAKES A PILOT CASTING FOR GRANTED. Like, if an actor honestly just didn’t even care all that much whether a pilot gets picked up? Then why the fuck would they even bother going on auditions for that pilot, or why not just sit out that pilot season? It’s a bunch of hassle they don’t need as well as possibly getting locked into a longterm contract for a project they don’t really care about....lol just no, that’s not a thing. Actors don’t do pilots unless they WANT that pilot to be picked up, and for them to have a contracted role. Full stop.
So when you keep that in mind....honestly, what are the chances that in a full cast of professional actors, EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM couldn’t manage to give a compelling performance, while bringing their A-game, except for the two cast members with the least on their resumes?
The chances are zip, because on the occasions an entire cast or almost an entire cast gets replaced for a reshoot, it has absolutely zero to do with any of the performances, and everything to do with the direction taken with the premise, like, the basic pitch they chose to go with for the characters.
Because again....its about Hollywood’s favorite magic word: leverage.
Nah, if one actor gets replaced after a pilot, before reshoots or even just between shooting the pilot and the show starting shooting on the rest of the season? Then it might be about the performance there, the studio just didn’t like that actor in the role and wanted to recast. Or it might be about the actor having had competing commitments that meant they turned out not to be available longterm after all, or there was a ceiling to how long they’d actually be available, or maybe they had enough other commitments that technically made them available but were still a hassle for the studio to work around and they just didn’t want to bother.
OR, in some cases....an actor gets recast before the show goes to air, because the studio couldn’t negotiate an agreement with the actor for their contract, that satisfied both parties.
Because that’s the angle most people forget to consider in this specific type of situation: actors sign on for a pilot, when they get cast. Their contracts have nothing to do with a full season at that point, because there’s nothing to even negotiate there, until a pilot is actually greenlit. Because until that point, nobody even knows for sure if they’re going to get a full season pick up, a half a season pick up, if the studio is just going to order eight episodes at first and then see how the ratings are before picking up five more episodes on the back end, etc.
So AFTER a pilot gets greenlit, the casts’ representation goes back to the table with the studio and hammer out their longterm contracts for the actual season.
And when a cast has to shoot not one pilot but two, before they even reach the negotiation stage for a full season pickup....they come to the table with a HELL of a lot of leverage. Because they know exactly how badly the studio needs THIS particular show to work out at this point, after that much of an investment. They know that the studio used up pretty much any buffer time they had, in order to get a whole second pilot shot, and they literally can’t AFFORD to have too many of their main cast walk at this point, if they don’t agree to their terms.
So when a studio recasts almost an entire cast before going back to reshoots, its because they’re trying to hedge their bets as much as possible and nip that negotiating power in the bud with a full recast with brand new actors who are brought in with the understanding that ‘we know we don’t have a lot of time to get this done and don’t want to waste our investment on this flopping, and YOU know that and we KNOW you know that, but if you want this part at all, you’re not going to make that a thing when it comes to full season contracts, do we have an agreement there.’
And you can’t make that kind of agreement halfway through things with a cast you’ve already made any kind of commitment to, not and expect them to be on board without any kind of concessions made.
So yeah, that’s why my guess is who knows what kind of performances the cast gave, it very likely had nothing to do with the recastings. Best bet is the studio just wasn’t happy with how the pitch they went with for this initial pilot looked when realized on screen, or maybe they were torn between two pitches initially anyway and now they feel the other might be a better bet.....and they couldn’t afford to stick with a cast that already had this much negotiating power this late in the game, so they released everyone from their contracts except for two of the ones who had relatively little negotiating power to begin with, and weren’t likely to give the studio too much of a problem over full season contracts.
Besides, if the new pilot does make it to air, by the time the new cast negotiates their full season contracts, the studio can sit down with these two and say its not that big a deal to recast one or two more at this point, all things considered, so.....again, do you want this role or not.
Ahhh, good old Hollywood. Where the bullshit in question is never exactly the bullshit most people assume it is, but make no mistake - its bullshit all the same. LOLOL.
Ugh, if only I weren’t a masochist who didn’t love being a THEEEEEEEESPIAN so much. Ah well.
But seriously guys, the thing you have to remember always, is there are never any guarantees, ever, at any stage, so its always a mistake to assume that a late stage decision or change has anything to do with quality, when there are a million other bullshit factors studios tend to consider before they even get around to giving a shit about what they think of the quality.
Like, an example....six or seven years ago, I don’t remember exactly...maybe it was eight, even? The year Jay Leno’s scandals were all over the news and NBC pulled his contract and all the late night talk shows moved around and swapped hosts.
Anyway, doing that meant that all of a sudden, NBC had an entire slate of open slots they needed to fill in the ten o’clock hour of their season lineups. Monday through Friday, when they usually would have a brand new hour of Leno programming for viewers from 10-11, all of a sudden, they had NOTHING. It was pretty damn unprecedented and nobody knew for sure how things were going to play out....just that it was November, and NBC was scrambling to pick and staff and cast as many pilots as they could in as short a time frame as they could, to cover the gap.
In the end, they had about half a dozen to maybe ten pilots at most, all filming at breakneck speed throughout December, right before the holidays, with the studio hoping to make a decision on them over hiatus and start shooting again over sweeps for a late midseason premiere to them.
So us poor dumb bastards who got cast and shoved through contracts, fittings, filming and all that good stuff in one of the most whirlwind and exhausting start-to-finish shoots any of us had ever experienced in the industry, were like, okay we KNOW better than to assume anything’s a sure thing, but like....this is PRETTY CLOSE to a sure thing, right? RIGHT?
Ugh, what dumbasses.
LOL and me I was one of the worst, because I wasn’t SAYING it out loud where anyone could hear it, but like, I was SURE this was going to be my big break. Because see, I wasn’t cast just on any old last minute pilot. No, I landed a bit-part-with-possibilities-of-recurring on a pilot starring David Tennant, like, fresh off his role on Doctor Who and very much in demand. It had a fair number of other names going for it...Jane Curtin, Cleo King who’d just gotten a big boost in popularity from The Hangover releasing over the summer, Abigail Spencer from Timeless although back then she was mostly just known for her work on Mad Men, etc. Like, this production was so rushed it never even got to the point of having an actual title, it was called something like “Rex Is Not Your Lawyer" on all our official contracts and stuff lol. We shot it over two weeks in December and wrapped filming the day before Christmas. And then we waited to hear about a decision, pretty fucking confident we were about to get a midseason pickup, because like....literally what else did the studio even HAVE?
Well. Nothing. We were right on that front, at least. They had nothing else to put on air besides the pilots they’d hastily pulled together and shot.....but in the end, after ALL of that, and after all that expense, and drama, and rushing and whatnot....the higher ups decided eh...you know what? We’re not really feeling any of these, hey, let’s just air re-runs of the Leno show in his old ten o’clock spot, that’ll be good enough.
....*headdesk*
LOL and the best thing was they didn’t even bother to tell ANY of the casts their decision until like, a month after making it. I mean we’d pretty much figured out from watching the clock that for whatever reason, it just wasn’t going to happen, but despite being a nobody, I was weirdly one of the very first in the cast to know for sure we weren’t getting picked up, because one of my friends who works in costume design was working on a different show on the lot where we’d shot Rex, and called me at like 6 am one day to say ‘oh shit, they’re packing up your sets, wtf,’ and that was basically as good as confirmation, lmao, ugh.
Though tbh, for me personally, that one doesn’t sting nearly as much as Washington Field, which was....I wanna say one or two pilot seasons before that? It was my first year in town, going out on auditions for pilot season as a fully paid up and registered SAG actor, the CSI franchise was winding down and CBS was looking to replace it with a brand new franchise, and Washington Field was the procedural they were hoping to use as a launching point for that new franchise. Some FBI procedural, like lbr, I would have never ever watched it myself and probably hated every script with a passion lol. I remember first time I got the full script for the pilot, like, it was pretty much right before we were all set to fly out to where we were shooting on location, so a bunch of my acting friends were over for a last minute party kinda thing, THOROUGHLY enjoying a drinking game they’d made out of the script, called something like “Get a shot every time Kalen’s character is a MASSIVE TOOL of the Establishment!” LOL like lbr, it wouldn’t have been my favorite role to break into the biz with haha. But the cast was pretty cool and we had a blast - GINA TORRES, ugh, still so bummed there, Teri Polo, Cole Hauser which is ironic given this is an ask about Lost Boys, lol, oh and Eddie Cibrian but he was super cranky the whole time b/c like his affair with LeeAnn Rimes had just become public knowledge lolol whooooops - anyway.
I was pretty sure that was a sure thing too, because CBS was pushing the hellllll out of that pilot, talking up all these big plans they had for it, it was something like a $5 million pilot, we had helicopters, shut down a whole freeway for filming one day, the works. Big big production. I didn’t even have representation at the time, I was booking my own auditions and literally only got called in for that one because the casting director had remembered me from some indie I did, weirdly enough, and looked me up on a whim. But like, yeah, I only found out we’d been passed over on that one when I ran into one of the other cast on the street like the week before pick-ups and she was like “oh honey no, didn’t you hear? They passed on our pilot, we’re all released from contract.” ....lol, that was not a super fun way to find out.
Oh well, ANYWAY, point is, nobody ever knows anything even when they think they know and also studios are stupid and dumb and make stupid dumb decisions all the time so never ever assume a studio’s decision has anything to do with anything other than being stupid and dumb and also, I am DEFINITELY not biased, okay, maybe I am a little bit but my bias has actually absolutely zero to do with Posey and everything to do with being Jilted one too many times by studios who are both stupid and dumb, and thus clearly not to be trusted. Harrumph.
....I think there’s an answer to your question in there. Somewhere. Idk, I think I got lost too.

Forethought
Though these three soldiers could have been regarded as Avatars concerning the discipline of War, the abrupt landing of the Alliance forces had managed to spur a hastier spirit to their heels. Unified, Lirelle, Sederis, and Thanidiel had all broken from Dawnspire Citadel to ride with alacrity for its borderlands.
Time. Lirelle had been foolish to think that they would have more of it. As early as they had began to move, it was still not enough time. Nothing there came as a surprise to her or the other two, even as she began to calculate how many she could move tonight, she knew the same mental arithmetic was happening with them, and the others as well. After the announcements made at the last meet they had stepped up preparations, strengthening their forces and girding themselves for the war they knew was coming. The three of them were not caught off guard - far from it - but to her, the disappointment that it had indeed come down to this still ached.
Something was in the air. It was more than the chills of winter that had begun to bite. It was more than the sudden, violent, ripping of the leylines beneath their feet. Though these things had unnerved every member in the great white halls of the Dawnspire, Sederis felt that there was something else. A tension, or the release of it. Like sinew pulled too taut that it provided no further resistance. Something horrifying but affirming. But something tangible, like the wind nipping his skin. War was here at long last and with it were the heralds of both Winter and Woe.
Contrasting with the bitterness of her comrades, the Phoenix Guard amongst them roiled with the anxious need to launch into action. Even with the weight of her armour and that winged greathelm bearing down upon her head, there was the sense of tension roped within the elf underneath. Not the dread that struck the hearts of their peers around them - more likely, her debatable over-preparation had her lunging towards the fray. As she always had; as she always will.
Their steeds all heaved with a sweated froth, and the beasts’ muscles all rippled with spasming exertion, exacerbated by the chilling winds beginning to cut through the lands of Quel’Thalas. Through the wheat of the Goldsea, they had cut through like a bullet for the Dawnspire’s border village.
Rushing to the Autumnvale, the already-stationed armies were quick to raise their banners in response to the call of their Commanders. The Crows, the Emberglades, Fury Company: fifteen-hundred men-and-women-at-arms all roused from their concentration at the Truefeathers’ borderpass.
The 5th Heartlander Honorguard - The glorified ditch diggers that had come with Sederis to Autumnvale - they were unfazed by the news. Made from a mix of the Glades’ best militia and the men of the professional soldiers of the Black Banner, they had listened when he had explained to them the state of things. War was coming, they had no doubts about it. So when the local criers came screaming for them to muster up for war, they did so with a sigh. Sederis rallied his troops into a marching column and prepared his troops for the long march ahead.
For the Crows, this was a night like any other, the camp dismantled with precise efficiency, every man and woman horsed and ready to depart within the hour. Though their numbers had dipped slightly after her recent display, she knew all those left would stand with her to the end. Only the worthy, thought Lirelle, nodding to her Second as she gave the command to move out.
Autumnvale’s Fury Company, though a roving motley band relative to the professionalism of the Honorguard and Crows, too, answered the call quickly and easily. Like seafoam, the word spread from campfire to campfire as the individual groups all rose to the call. Soon, only earth, dung, and forgotten stakes had indicated where the nomadic-esque army once camped.
Overall, an outpour of infantry, horsemen and hawkstrider riders, accompanied by their dozens of supply wagons, all paved way into the deeper heart of Quel’Thalas.
“That burns first when they set eyes on the Dawnspire, you know,” remarked between the three commanders as the province’s mountains begin to lose their details behind them.
“Let it burn. I’ll finally be able to set its cropfields proper after this.”
“If there’s an after this,” Sederis sniffed, still getting used to the chills of winter this far away from Northrend. “If there is, I guess we’ll see if we can get some infrastructure improved too. You inherited a dump.”
“The offer of help still stands for after we throw them out.” Lirelle shot Sederis a look, her air of confidence unshakeable even in the face of the evening's events.
“We’ll see what’s underneath the ashes when it’s all over, aye? If that shithole still stands, it’ll be my responsibility. If not, the Archon will have other work for me.”
Sederis snorted. “Even if it’s still around, maybe you’ll get to keep the fancy title at least.”
“Pft. Get a new title. A better one. Plenty of opportunities for a promotion here, just make sure you’re the one standing at the end of it all.”
“I don’t die,” rumbles out. Frank, and almost exasperated. Like the Duskward were repeating a well-worn fact for the last time.
“I used to say that. Mainly because I didn’t care if I did,” Sederis gave Lirelle a look. “Been awhile since I’ve heard it.”
“It is within our job description to die, so aye, I don’t care. They smudge it into the corner of the documents with tiny print,” Thanidiel quickly established her ‘explanation’ after.
Sederis chuckled. “...and if necessary, die for your country, your lord, and by extension, your crown.” The Dawnward began reciting the line like it was poetry. “I’ve been smudging the tiny print into the documents as of late. The trick is to make it sound like it’s unlikely. No one wants to die- well almost no one.”
“Easy for you assholes to say, when you’re not the one who has to put you back together when you’re in pieces on some field somewhere.”
“That’s exactly what makes it so stress-free. If I fuck up, it’s someone else’s problem after.”
“Oh fuck you,” comes the response, but there is hardly any bite behind the words. Problems for the living, as always.
Sederis laughed, then glanced at Lirelle’s livingwood hand before his smile faded. “I’ll be riding with the army,” he said. “Once Silvermoon is safe, I’m heading straight for the Emberglades. No exceptions. I’ll see if I can persuade the Archon to push for Sunstrider Isle. Perhaps he can can use it as a staging point to assault Quel’danas.”
“I think we’ll need to let the dust settle when we put the Dark Iron into the ground, ‘fore I decide where to let my banner fly. Quel’danas, though; that cannot fall a second time. Sunfury Spire itself would be a better suitor to burn.”
“I’m with Sederis. We need the Isle. Sure, I’m biased because my home and his are there, but we need the ports and the supplies. My family is safe because they closed the borders months ago and the reefs will keep the ships out, but if the Emberglades falls, then it puts them at risk. I’m going.” That was the end of it for the pale haired priestess. A shake of her head and a tightening of her grip on the reins were the only signs of the worries she carried. Her loyalties were to family then country, but she knew well enough that to go off loose would help no one. For now, she pushed the thoughts deep down, no room for doubt in the hours and days ahead.
Oddly augmented by the night, Thanidiel’s furrow of her platinum brows is evident. Bemusement towards their defensiveness of home, but not begrudging. The Phoenix Guard draws in a breath, and begins to tug the chestnut-coated beast between her knees ahead. With a sweeping wave of her standard, she signals her army to break and trickle from the others into a horde-at-trot.
“Aye. We’ll see how the wind blows. We are stronger together, after all.”
From there, the man amongst them rallied his troops into a marching column, separating from the mass their forces had formed into, and prepared them as they closed to the Archon’s forces. It was once said that where Sederis went, Lady Death followed.
He hoped it was true today.

João Félix: The Golden Boy or Flop
Well, in light to the main topic of this/my first ever column, I just want to say, thank you for clicking and reading this piece. I hope you enjoy it.
If you don't already know him, you will have definitely have heard about Benfica and Portugal's current gem, João Félix. Hailed by many as the successor to Ronaldo, but how exactly does he match any team's criteria of an ideal player. In fact, what makes him the most wanted youngster in the world of football right now?
About our man
Born on the 10th of November 1999 in Viseu, João Félix is 5ft 9, right footed and he begun his career at a young age signing for FC Porto's academy "Dragon Force" before making a move to Benfica for free, joining their U17 side.
At 16 years old, he was already establishing himself within Benfica's Youth setup in Seixal, scoring 6 goals in 10 games (as well as an assist) in the UEFA Youth League and 3 goals in 12 appearances in the Ledman Liga Pro (Portugal's Second Division), impressing at the time manager, Hélder Cristóvão and earning him a move to Benfica B the following season. In the 2017/18 season, he got his shot for Benfica B, picking up 17 Ledman Liga Pro appearances with 4 goals and 5 assists, spending most season playing as a Winger and Attacking Midfielder.
João Félix playing for Benfica B vs Manchester United in the UEFA Youth League.
This season, saw a surprise to many Benfica fans. With a lack of strikers at the disposal of at the time manager Rui Vitória, he turned to Benfica B's talents, scooping up, you guessed it, João Félix. Benfica fans were excited to see what he could bring to the table, especially due to a recent saga between Jonas and Rui Vitória over his contract renewal causing Jonas to "become injured" for a long period of time and a recent signing Facundo Ferreyra who was yet to score a goal.
The Rise
25th of August, 3rd match of the season sees Benfica face Sporting CP in a Lisbon Derby at the Estádio da Luz. Sporting lead with a Nani penalty and with Facundo Ferreyra showing lack of threat and not scoring, comes off with Pizzi, Seferovic and the kid himself, João Félix come off the bench to replace both players respectively. On the 85th minute, the ball is knocked down to the right handside to Rafa, who whips it in first time, and who is there to meet his cross? João Félix. He rises the highest, heading the ball to the back of the net - sending Benfica fans into jubilation and scoring his first ever senior goal with less than 60 minutes of game time under his belt, making him the youngest player to ever score in a Lisbon Derby.
João Félix scoring the equaliser in the Lisbon Derby draw against Sporting. He became the youngest player to do so.
Fans were left begging to see him play more, but were left waiting a month before seeing him play again this time vs Desportivo Aves, where he scored from a sensational first time finish with his weaker left foot.
But, for manager Rui Vitória, this wasn't enough and insisted on playing Facundo Ferreyra, in fact, it was only on the 5th of December did Benfica fans see Félix in the starting lineup again, this time in the League Cup tie vs Paços de Ferreira, where he started as a right winger and scored a goal, this time with his right foot.
Rui Vitória would only use Félix as an "off the bench" player and didn't see much in him, occasionally bringing him on in some matches on the late stages of the match. Rui Vitória was stubborn, his lack of change and boring ideas and football caused his demise, seeing him sacked after a 2-0 loss vs Portimonense in early January. Many big names were linked to the Benfica job, from José Mourinho to Braga’s Abel Ferreira, but, Chairman, Luís Filipe Vieira turned to caretaker manager and at the time Benfica B manager Bruno Lage, his first test being Rio Ave in the League at home.
Benfica B manager Bruno Lage takes charge of the first team following the sacking of Rui Vitória.
From Bruno Lage's first lineup in charge, we saw 2 changes, a new formation and João Félix in the starting lineup. A refreshing 4-4-2 saw Benfica starting João Félix as a Shadow Striker behind Target Man Seferovic.
It wasn't a promising start to the game, Benfica were 2-0 down by 20 minutes. 7 minutes later, a Seferovic finish saw Benfica go 2-1 up and 4 minutes later, Seferovic crosses the ball in for João Félix who scores with his right foot. In the second half, on the 64th minute, he went on to score again, this time from a low Zivkovic cross saw another potent right foot finish from the golden boy, Benfica went on to win 4-2 in Bruno Lage's first game in charge of the Eagles.
This was the beginning to his success this season.
My Thoughts and Views on João
Let's cut to the chase, enough of me rambling on about Benfica, their matches and managers.
João's position is a Shadow Striker. At Shadow Striker is where he shines and has been at best, usually alongside a Target Man and partner in crime Haris Seferovic. But the 19 year old is versatile, he can also play as a Winger or Attacking Midfielder. His ability to play with both feet at such ease as well as heading and overall playmaking ability, is what makes him, in my opinion, the best Shadow Striker in the market, especially for his price tag. He is pacey, skilful and shows shades of a Rui Costa/Kaká with a bit of Cruyff in the mix when on the ball. When in front of goal, it is rare that you will see him take many touches before shooting, he has this Striker's drive and Poacher's finishing which is second to none. This goes without saying about his playmaking ability, he is not selfish and looks to assist when he can. This season he has scored a total of 15 in all competitions and assisted 7 goals. (as of 12th of April 2019)
He is not shy of a big game either, scoring and assisting against Sporting again in the Lisbon Derby during a 4-2 win in Alvalade in February and scoring vs Porto at the Estádio do Dragão in March on Benfica's 2-1 win in the Clásico.
Félix celebrating his equaliser over Porto.
When looking at the historial past and well known players seen at Benfica, the term flop tends to be placed on a youngster, Renato Sanches. My fear, is that like Renato Sanches and many other footballers at his young age, he joins a footballing giant, whom and who's fans will be very demanding and causing such young player not to perform to his full potential. Renato Sanches was (and still is) a very promising, showing fantastic ability to boss a midfield with great ease and dominate the opposition as well the ability of being able to score some screamers, but high expectations and extraordinary amounts of pressure has meant that Sanches has not been able to reach his potential just yet.
He is young, in fact, far too young to move clubs just yet in my opinion, and this might be biased, but he should be given time to develop as a player - or - be loaned back to Benfica to gain experience. It is easy for me, a soon to be 18 year old sit here and tell someone to wait rather than making a move to a dream club like Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester United or Liverpool, but at the end of the day, I can't blame him if he does!
National Worries
On the 15th of March, Félix earned his Portugal call-up, but is yet to make an appearance after getting injured in the training ground. What Portugal also have in their hands, is a Rui Vitória clone - by the name of Fernando Santos. Like Vitória, the problem with Fernando Santos is the unwillingness to change and experiment within the 11. Often Santos will play the same players in the same boring formation as he has been for the past 4/5 years, and its frustrating when you have a golden generation on their way, yet he insists on playing Pepe, Rui Fonte, André Silva, Guerreiro to name a few. I will explain Portugal's international worries and problems in a new column in the foreseeable future.
Back to Félix, I see him lining up like he does at Benfica, in a 4-4-2 next to Ronaldo, with Bernardo Silva and Bruno Fernandes on their respective wings, Ruben Neves and William Carvalho in the midfield. Ruben Dias and Ferro at centre backs, Guerreiro (as much as I dislike him) and Cancelo at fullbacks with Rui Patrício in goal. This is of course how I would want us to start, knowing Fernando Santos, Félix will be used as an utility player instead!
The Final say
Last night, we saw the lethal and potent golden boy Benfica have in their hands. Félix scoring his first-of-many hat-trick vs Frankfurt, whilst also grabbing an assist making him the youngest player to do so since Sergio Aguero in 2007. Much to the success João Félix is having, is also down to Bruno Lage who has revolutionised this Benfica side and slotted him in a key "Shadow Striker" role, as well as Benfica's famous Seixal academy who are yet again on the road to produce a world class talent. I personally think that he should stay at Benfica for another season, or, if he decides to join football giant, to be loaned back out to Benfica before making the step up, as well as to gain experience.
An €120m release clause is seen as a bargain in today's market, but will prospective buyers be willing to give him a chance and patience before considering him another flop? Can a 19 year old hold on the urge to move to a footballing giant or will he roll the dice and look to move away? We will have to wait and see.
Thanks again for reading. If you have any questions or suggestions feel free to message me on Twitter: @tiagoalex1904.

munday 4! (plus the other ones kinda?)
this is my first munday here so hi everyone~! quick introduction as well i suppose (sort of summarizing a few of the other munday things) -- i’m grey and i use they/them pronouns! i am a college senior, comp. sci. major. i’ve written for fun since i could actually write, but I’ve been roleplaying (krp specifically) since fall 2014! (i’m also in central timezone -- an hour behind obscura main timezone). I don’t particularly have a strong preference for any kind of writing genre; it’s all more or less fair game!
i’m sorry this is so long lmfao
munday 1!
What is your ultimate weakness; what makes you feel all soft and squishy inside?
“cute” things? ...my biases usually...
Write the first thing to come to mind in caps: BUT WHY Three random facts about you: i used to know how to play piano, i’ve owned a pokemon game from every generation except for the wii games (which do not count), and my bias groups are vixx, infinite, btob, f(x) and bts.
munday 2!
If your muse(s) could describe you in a few words, what would they say?
“at least they’re clean...”
What is the most wicked thing you could imagine your character doing?
as a witch he could very well slip into warlock-dom at a point so i’m not sure how general this should be -- magic can really fuck you up, kids. as it currently stands he’s... i could see him ruining someone’s life on social media or something if they really pissed him off though
If your muse(s) were real, would you fight them?
yes. he’d probably beat me on size alone. probably. but it’d be worth it
What object would you erase from existence if given the opportunity?
cigarettes. the smoke and residue makes me so sick
If you had a billion dollars and could only spend it, what would you buy first?
that’s a lot of money. i’d buy a service that’d help me invest it? or something? and pay off my loans. i’m not a very material person so i... have no idea.... outside of housing and donating most of it and helping out my friends
If you could play any sport, what would it be?
does dance count as a sport?? i love watching excellent and intense choreography and i do like to dance but i am very awkward-limbed
Do you have any fun hobbies or talents you’d like to share?
i like to draw! i actually write fanfic outside of rp too. mmm i like to cook/bake as well, and i like to play video games when i get the chance
Do you have/want any pets?
i want a cat.......... please let me have a cat...........
munday 3!
What’s the luckiest thing that’s ever happened to you?
well if i’m being a sap i’d say meeting all of my rp friends; i’m extremely fortunate in that regard. but as a more specific thing, i’d say my love live luck is pretty damn incredible. my best girl fuckin loves me. when scouting for job kanan i did 6 pulls, ur came home TWICE as did the hanamaru ssr also twice, as well as another ur and two ssrs?? and i’ve gotten every one of her cards that’s come out since then?? she’s too good to me
If you could attend any concert or event right now without any obstacles, what would you choose?
i would die (my anxiety would kill me) but a vixx concert with a hi-touch event
What’s your dream vacation?
being at the ocean (can you say beautiful, destin sands) with no pressure of going anywhere, meeting anyone. just lazing in the sand and swimming out into the water. getting caught in the waves sometimes but feeling all sun warm and happily worn at the end of the day
Coffee, tea, or hot chocolate? Any style preferences?
tea! hot tea i can drink with or without sugar but my cold/ice tea has to be sweet -- (bubble) milk tea is also so so good
A game you love ( traditional, video, etc )?
i love pokemon......... i’ll say it ten thousand times....... hoenn is my favorite region (i love the routes around fortree....)
Favorite/Number one go-to internet meme?
Least favorite internet meme?
Something that makes you want to flip a table?
hmm... i’d have to be in the moment of flipping the table to tell you
In your opinion, do you fit the stereotyped traits of your western zodiac sign? Do you believe that another sign fits you better? What about your muse?
i don’t know? i think i’m perhaps more like a taurus than a libra. i don’t really understand the stereotypes very well. uuuh... jinhwan? he doesn’t fit the stereotyped traits of an aries either. maybe gemini?
Post a gif of what you’re currently feeling right now.
munday 4!
Do you prefer to brainstorm your plots or wing them? Do you have no preference in either?
i’m not so sure so far as what winging a plot would be -- i like to have a pretty good idea of what’s going to happen. not necessarily detail by detail, but having a good idea of the setting and how long a thread will go, if there might need to be any location changes or time skips possibly?? those are good things to discuss. you can’t always tell how a muse will react to things until you’re writing them in that moment, so it’s good to be flexible in regard to those changes too ouo
What kind of writing memes do you like, if any (sentence starters, drabble memes, head-canon memes, etc)?
i don’t particularly like sentence starters, as it’s hard for me to come up with fitting context for them. i love headcanon memes for sure but it’s a bit hard for me to say for anything else, as i’ve not had a lot of experience with them!
What’s the easiest way to plot with you? Alternatively, what is the easiest way to contact you for plotting?
give me all your ideas, any ideas!! even if they’re very silly to begin with (mine often are) there might be a good idea for a plot buried in there~ i’ll do the same but please do let me know if i need to slow down haha discord is the single best way of getting ahold of me (thru dms) please do not hesitate to add me and send me a message! on tumblr through dms is totally fine too but i sometimes lose track of them ;;
What kind of movies/television series/dramas/anime/etc do you like to watch?
i love animated stuff! most anime, western stuff like legend of korra, atla, steven universe, young justice, teen titans, etc.; i like action movies i guess? superhero stuff is pretty alright but uh pacific rim and mm: fury road are two of my favorite movies. unless it’s pretty gripping i have trouble paying attention (and also no matter what it is i usually prefer to watch with subs bc i always get a lot more out of it that way)
Would you be interested in the occasional group viewing of a movie/series/drama/cartoon/etc, if one were to be organized?
YELL HES. i have a ton of studio ghibli movies and also all three seasons of atla and all seasons of legend of korra, if i can just figure out how to stream them i’d love to help with that sort of thing also??? ?????
If yes to the above, do you have any specifics in time or day as to when you are available to attend? If no, is there any group activity that you would be interested in participating in (ie, games of some sort)?
bruh i’m down for anything. i’ll have school coming up here this next week but i’ll for the most part be free on the weekends outside of coding and doing schoolwork and hunting bugs. i’m done with class by the evening all during the week too
If you were caught up in a food fight, what food would you throw first?
oh geez... something that wouldn’t hurt? i’d probably just be trying to get out of there asap lmfao
If you could be any mythological beast, which one would you be and why?
DRAGON. NATURALLY. big dumb scaley dog with a big pile of shiny things in a hoard. that me -v-
Top five things that make you happy?
i don’t know about top five! but here’s a few... giving someone something that you’ve thought they’d really like and actually making their day; lazy background music and ambient noises in a place of solitude; chicken tikka masala with rice and naan; drawing silly things; ...pokemon? anything and everything about it?
Share a picture! It could be of your bias, a cute animal, a drawing, a meme, an anime wife—anything you’d like!

Baseball, A Personal and Biased Perspective
"A wiener at the ballgame beats dish meat at the Ritz" - Humphrey Bogart
I don't know exactly when I turned into a fan. In truth, I don't think anybody ever does it. I don't think anybody at any point woke up on a Saturday morning and said to themselves, "Today is the day I pick up something about baseball." Baseball isn't that way. Baseball, it appears to me, picks you.
I know this: the greater part of what I found out about baseball is because of my father. Furthermore, I presume that most baseball-adoring individuals in the course of recent years would state something very similar. Baseball resembles your extraordinary granddad's pocket watch passed on to you with consideration. A sort of legacy, maybe, from your dad, granddad, uncle; frequently - however not generally - a male expert figure.
Baseball fans are a one of a kind breed. While your normal baseball fan can examine the better purposes of the game in extraordinary detail, the genuine love the game causes in the enthusiastic fan isn't anything but difficult to characterize. On the off chance that you invest any energy around baseball, it saturates you in a difficult to-clarify way. It's an associating string in a mind-blowing cloths. By one way or another, game by game, inning by inning, it gets in your blood, and once you have it there's no fix. Once truly presented to baseball, it will be, until further notice and consistently, a great contamination, profoundly instilled in your mind. In the event that the majority of this illustration talk about baseball sounds silly or excessively nostalgic, you are not a baseball fan. Be that as it may, don't stress, there's still trust in you.
My first introduction to baseball, as I referenced, was on account of my father. In particular, through the amusements we would go see played by Portland's small time group, the Beavers. I guess I was around eight or nine when I saw my first game. I don't review the score or who the rival group was. Perhaps shockingly, I don't much recall whether our adored Beavers won or lost. Being so new to the game, I didn't get strikes, balls, outs, takes, or whatever else that appeared to occur in some odd blend of peaceful, purposeful request counteracted unexpected, crazy confusion. There were cheers, boos, some running, some residue kicked up, some ball tossing, even some taking (when my dad said that a sprinter stole second base, I called attention to the self-evident: "No he didn't. It's still there.")
I didn't know any of the players, and couldn't tell the catcher from the mascot. I truly had no clue what was happening down there on that tremendous green and darker span. I was a baseball infant, seeing, hearing, smelling the bunch of tangible encounters interesting to this peculiar game for the absolute first time.
I can just review parts of the game that truly don't have anything to do with games or measurements. Check here 토토사이트
I will always remember my first sight of the baseball outfield as we entered the arena, blindingly green. I recollect the remote mixed smell of lager. I recollect the free pop of nut shells on the ground. I recollect the musky smell of grass and saturated soil, and obviously, the tempting aroma of franks, and salty popcorn. There is a fragrance to a baseball arena, and it very well may be discovered no place else. I recollect the break of a 33 ounce bat against a five ounce rough circle that seemed like a discharge resounding in the arena while the players took batting practice before the game. The vast majority of all, I recollect the ever-present clamor of the fans, similar to a sea, once in a while a tranquil automaton, here and there a rambunctious tsunami of cheers or boos scattered with shouts of "Get your glasses on, ump!" or, "He's going to hit!" or, "Draw that pitcher, he's done!" None of this sounded good to me at all.
In spite of the fact that I was a little kid, encountering a hundred absolutely outsider and unusual things on that day more than 30 years back, I was overwhelmed with a startling inclination - not of being in an awkward and new spot, however of being at home.
I realize that this experience of mine isn't one of a kind. Actually it's just about a prosaism. Converse with any individual who cherishes the game and they will probably have a comparative story to tell. In any case, while baseball has not been my life's energy, my valuation for the Grand Old Game has achieved a point with me where I must choose the option to look somewhat more profound at this odd wonder and investigate the game in my own particular manner.
"I see extraordinary things in baseball. It's our game - the American game. It will remove our kin from entryways, fill them with oxygen, give them a bigger physical aloofness. Will in general calm us from being an anxious, dyspeptic set. Fix these misfortunes, and be a gift to us." ~Walt Whitman
In 1979, the Pittsburgh Pirates, driven by Dave Parker and Willie Stargell, won the National League flag. Whenever I hear their signature tune, "We Are Family," by Sister Sledge, I can't resist the urge to imagine Stargell adjusting the bases in his dark and yellow Pirate uniform, similar to some abundant honey bee, after one of his acclaimed mammoth homers.
As it occurred, our neighborhood small time group, the Portland Beavers, were the ranch group for the Pirates around then. This brought about father and me meeting both Stargell and Parker when they visited Portland during a Beavers display game. Whatever they resembled in their own lives, I recollect that Stargell and Parker showed every one of the signs of the courteous disposition the organization of baseball some way or another appears to impart in such a significant number of its stars. Also, I review that them two, while generous grinning and signing a relentless supply of balls, appeared to have hands and arms of superheroes, which, as it were, they truly were.
"When they begin the game, they don't holler, "Work ball." They state, "Make a move."' ~Willie Stargell
It was at that point - having met a portion of its legends - that I started to focus on baseball. In spite of the fact that I was at that point a fanatic of ball and football, I ended up continually hypnotized - if not out and out befuddled - by baseball and its complexities. That appearing inconsistency among effortlessness and multifaceted nature is nevertheless one of the mysteries of the game. Baseball is, all things considered, one of a kind. How about we recall a couple of things about baseball that, in my psyche at any rate, set it apart from different games.
To begin with, the game is set upon a field organized in a fairly bizarre geometric shape. As opposed to having an objective or something to that affect on each finish of an extended field (as most different games) there is no such objective. No bin, no objective, no net. There is no direct development from one endzone to the next.
While the particular measurements and setup of the lines and bases on the field are steady in major and small time baseball, the fields themselves can shift fit as a fiddle. The good ways from home plate to the inside field fence, for instance, can fluctuate as much as 35 feet from park to stop.
Second, baseball is certifiably not a game depending such a great amount on consistent activity all things considered on minutes that can unfurl in a brief instant fastball strike, or a solitary swing that sends a ball over the fence and carries a home group to its feet (or leaves them reviling despondently). When the pitcher fires the ball toward home plate - a voyage that takes the ball about a large portion of a second - essentially anything can occur. Anything.
Pundits of baseball state the game needs physicality and hard play. This is similar to whining that tennis needs enough pummel dunks, or that golf doesn't include enough handling. In any case, as any individual who has played or given close consideration to the game can validate, there's a lot of physicality in baseball. The power it takes to smack a ball over a fence 410 feet away may just be obscured by the sheer superhuman exertion it takes to dispatch a clench hand measured hardball into a space the size of a hubcap sixty feet away...at about 100 miles an hour...100 times a night...accurately.
In any case, say commentators, the game is moderate, insufficient activity to fulfill the limited capacity to focus of the cutting edge sports fan. While the analysis appears to be lost to us baseball fans, do the pundits have a point? During a normal game, what amount of time slips by during which "something's occurring?"
To get to the base of this inquiry, Wall Street Journal correspondent David Biderman as of late investigated the measure of time spent in real life during a normal significant group ball game. "Activity," incorporates the time it takes for a pitcher to toss the ball, just as the more clear time a ball is noticeable all around after a hit, or a player is taking base, and so on. Biderman confirmed that the normal game had around 14 minutes of activity in it.
Be that as it may, as substantiated by Biderman, the time not spent in real life during a game isn't actually time squandered. Between pitches, a horde of choices and vital choices might be weighed out. Administrators might be occupied with counseling the hitting diagram on a restricting player before he even strides up to the plate. Catchers and pitchers are having a consistent quiet exchange with respect to what sort of pitch to toss and where to put that pitch, contingent upon a scope of elements. Furthermore, defenders may move positions relying upon the player, or the game circumstance to build their odds of sparing runs. While the easygoing spectator may become disappointed by "all the remaining around," in baseball, the more included fan realizes that this time spent between pitches is the place the genuine round of baseball is played. To put it plainly, there is continually "something occurring" during a ball game.
In any case, the commentators who persevere in anxiously drumming their fingers on their knees and yawning over the "moderate pace" of baseball may think that its intriguing to discover that Biderman likewise decided the measure of play activity during a normal expert football match-up. Only 11 minutes.
While it's intriguing to consider these parts of time where baseball is concerned, most fans realize that baseball has unmistakably more to do with timing. To the tenderfoot fan, baseball resembles a game fixated on the pitcher attempting to strike out the player, and the hitter attempting to stay away from such a destiny. In any case, to the prepared eye, the fight among pitcher and hitter is one of sharp basic leadership and split-second planning, an
