Thank you!
👻 A headcanon about what scares them
In freshmen year Fig was scared of becoming her mother. Sandra Lynn was a symbol of something she didn't want in freshman year. She saw her mom has this is what the worst thing I could become was since she was so hurt by 1 her mother lying about who her birth father was, and 2 not telling her, and 3 hurting Gilear. And if you were to ask Fig this at that time, she would 100% say that becoming her mother is her greatest fear. Now, though, I think Fig is truly scared of what if no one likes the real me and what if I'm not enough for the people who love and care about me. I like to think that's why Fig didn't reach out to Ayda as much as she could have; it's why she tried to play off her being cursed; it's why she didn't let herself have any moments with anyone. It's also the reason why she felt hurt. Her mother didn't ask about the curse or Riz, the detective, realized that Gorgug wasn't the one who gave him the gift. It's also the reason why she started to go to class and why she took on so much multiclassing. If she can't be herself because of fear, she can stretch herself so thin to be the thing that can help her friends and loved ones, even if it hurts her in the end.
💔 An angsty headcanon
Okay, we talk about Fabain having a hard time with the new baby, but what about Fig. Fig was used to being around Gilear all the time before. Even though that wasn't her dad, he raised her. When Hallariel announces that she and Gilear are having a kid, Fig is over the moon; she can't wait to have a little sibling. But first, it's the baby shower. Fig doesn't get an invite. She doesn't think much of it; none of the other bad kids did, and even if Fabian did, he's not going. Sandra Lynn did so. She asked her mom to bring the gift she got the baby. Then, it's the day the kid is born. The way Fig finds out is Fabian; Fabain is irritated. He has to get up in the middle of the night to go see his new sibling. When Fig sends congrats to Gilear, it gets left on read. As more happens with this baby, Fig is pushed more and more out. One night, she is speaking to Adaine about feeling very pushed out, and Aelwyn, not meaning to be cruel, says, "Why, it's not like you are even related," and it hits Fig that it will never be her dad, stepmom, and sibling. That will be her friend, his mom, his sibling, and the guy who used to raise her.
