✨ what draws you towards your hyperfixation? what is interesting about it?

for OFMD: i love the characters!!!!!! all of themmmm. their dynamics are probably the most interesting thing for me. i also love the setting & playing around with more serious sailing stuff, and also into the areas that make this group special. i think fundamentally, the show is such a good sandbox to play around with, what could happen, why, etc etc. i love adding little pockets of lore (i think this is why im so drawn to Sam Bellamy stuff, its adding more to the universe & to izzy and layers of depth that werent there before, even if hes completely part of the past). especially after s1 and kraken era speculation, it was all the what ifs and maybes that drew me in.

for PMMM: this is a hard one! i first watched madoka back when it came out in 2011 so its really hard for me to imagine a life where its not important to me. i think the thing for me about madoka magica, is that its about hope. it so often gets sold as a dark magical girl anime, but at its core, madoka is about looking despair in the face, and choosing hope anyway. its about finding a way through even when it seems impossible. ive always been drawn to that. and the interpersonal dynamics- im big into the different story manga, which adds so much depth to kyoko & mamis characters & their relationships.

🎥 do you have any favorite scenes from your hyperfixation?

for OFMD: ive already mentioned one, so again, that, but a second one: the new unicorn scene. its both the complete opposite to the other, and its twin, and it means so much to me. its really first time we see izzy released from his duties, as first mate, to ed, this is just izzy. and its the first time we properly see him accepted by the crew. i dont really know how to put into words what this scene means to me, but i think you understand anyway. i cried. thats my fucking boy!!!!!!!!!!

for PMMM: i think most of my favourite scenes are from the manga (again, TDS fan) but out of the anime, i think its probably the fight against Elsa Maria- its stylised in a gorgeous way, the animation and movement is artistic and gorgeous. and, its the first moment where you really start to feel dread. the first moment you realise that something awful is coming. its beautiful artistically and narratively

💕 tell us about one of your favorite characters and why you like them!

for OFMD: skipping right over the obvious, because ive dedicated my life to the fuckin guy, archie!!!!!!! my sweet love!!!! urgh shes ao delightful, one of the best things to come out of season 2 forreal. i dont think theres a single scene with archie i dont like, i love her stupid little quips and her pragmatism about everything. thats just the way things go, we fight to the death. pointing out that the guys on top do get away with it. idk, theres just not a single thing i dont love. its also so nice to introduce someone not of the revenge mindset, but also not as messed up over things as fang & izzy. she just fills her role perfectly. so fun to see a "normal" pirate. i love her i would do anything for her

for PMMM: i am, in my heart of hearts, a kyoko girly. my first love, the original. i think loving kyoko set me on the path to love izzy too. shes the underdog, she comes in as the villain of the story, till you start to dig into her character and understand why she feels the way she does about things. even if you disagree, its a different perspective on her. shes teeth and claws and knows nothing but fighting to survive. i love her backstory and her attitude to the truth of their life, and i love her stupid little quips. yes girl it is reasonable to break a guys legs to get him to date

🏳‍🌈 do you have any headcanons (lgbt, race, neuro, etc) that are important to you?

for OFMD: as i said earlier, im pretty flexible on most headcanons, usually working whichever fits in to the particular idea im thinking about, but trans izzy is pretty consistently up there. its one of those things that i think adds a lot of flavour to his actions in canon, and also adds backstory to him and why he might be who we meet in canon in the first place. also making characters trans fucks and should always be done 👍

3. I think I'm gonna have to check what I posted this year first but I think I have an answer.

So I'm gonna go with "Neat Freak" with "Alone Time" as a close second. Last year I started writing my first (yet unposted) smut and it's this year I've started posting for real. I can't understate Alone Time's impact on me in writing challenging fic (ambiguously trans/cis characters in this case), especially with my first otp, but Neat Freak? Oh boy.

Neat Freak has such a hold on me for a number of reasons. It's the longest one shot I posted this year, I churned it out for like a few weeks straight, L and Light would not stop talking they would not let me be free. It took up huge space in my brain, it was my first real attempt with (non ambiguously) trans characters, it was my first fic for a fandom. I enjoy it immensely, and no matter how the numbers are, I feel really accomplished for capturing the characters the way I wanted to, getting into the character's headspace so I didn't feel afraid (with it being my first Death Note fic and all), and evoking their dynamic in the way I'd desired when the idea first struck my brain. It was a frustrating one to edit and I was impatient to finish, but it was worth it.

27. When I do listen to stuff while writing it's often some song I'm hopelessly obsessed with that's usually faster paced. Earlier this year, I listened to Pleiades by Harusaruhi, Touch Tone Telephone by Lemon Demon, The Mind Electric by Miracle Musical, No One Lives Forever by Oingo Boingo, and Partners in Crime by set it off (just to name some) quite a bit. About the middle of the year I listened to My Time by Bo En (and the version on the Omori Soundtrack), You're Gonna Go Far Kid by The Offspring, Starlight Brigade feat. Dan Avidan, and Spider Dance by Toby Fox. These days my writing music is filled with One Ok Rock's Album, Luxury Disease (including Vandalize, Neon, Mad World, and Broken Heart of Gold), Light and L's themes from the Death Note Sountrack, the Taiko Mix Version of R.Y.U.S.E.I, and Enigma by Tart.

So I guess better (shorter) answer? It's all over the place. Generally it has to do with whatever is the main overarching hyperfixation at the time and what songs remind me of my fav characters from it.

28. Oh god this is hard. I think this is the year, more than others, I decided to write things that cater almost 100% to me. I posted to multiple different fandoms and rarely repeated ships, so to be honest I greatly enjoy all of them. I'll have to go with one off the top of my head, so to give a fic other than Neat Freak the spotlight, I'm going to choose Alone Time.

As I said, soriku was one of my first large otps (which I'm sure you can tell if you've seen my fandom imbalanced list of fics). While being an experiment and a venture into something new (for multiple reasons), Alone Time was also a fic that reassured me that I hadn't lost my characterizations from soriku nor my Kingdom Hearts hyperfixation. It was just such a treat writing them again, especially Riku's pov, and I enjoyed just really digging into feelings, getting to write an ace take on a character, all the imagery, and the challenge it brought (what, with the ambiguous genitals and the rewrite of an old scene that needed to be better but also as true to my original take as I could get it). I think I've reread Alone Time a lot this year.

Okay so rest assured I chose a sfw passage (only possible exception is a mention of a feeling in the private area? But this section is all feelings). Here's an excerpt towards the end of "Alone Time" that makes me go absolutely crazy

A million thoughts swirl into Riku’s brain, accompanied by a flurry of memories. It’s all fuzzy, all indiscernible, all so much at once, until a second, different heartbeat, begins to pound in his ears with his own, drowning out all the noise.

“You’re my light.” The Soras are one in the same.

As their hearts beat together, in tune, a wave of physical feeling hits Riku like a wave. Phantom touches erupt all over his body, some of which are contradictory in nature. There are two different touches at his lips, two different touches at his privates, sensation where he can feel no one is touching him.

“Like…hah…starlight.” Sora giggles between a few particularly heavy breaths.

Riku was wrong before. He’s neither falling apart at Sora’s touch, nor bursting at the seams. How did you start drawing ZADR? (Btw I freaking love your art how do you draw anatomy?)

Last August when Enter the Florpus released I fell hard back into IZ. During my first 3 Invader Zim hyperfixation phases I was not into shipping. But this time was different…

At first I was like:

“Nope, I don’t ship zadr, I never shipped zadr before, I won’t ship zadr now”

At this point I knew I was a goner, but I still spent like a week telling myself I did not ship it. In the mean time, I was getting more and more angry at the amount of antis popping up and telling others that they were going to k*ll them for shipping zadr. I probably would have been able to squash my interest in the ship if it was not for them. So thanks antis, you were the final push I needed to accept that I actually shipped it!

Tbh I was terrified to post anything because of what antis would say, and as expected one of the first comments on it called it disgusting and a p*do ship. It doesn’t matter how often you say they’re both adults, antis will always say that Dib is a child (and heck now it’s “Zim is a child!” when you draw Dib as an adult, you can never win lol) But I started ignoring them and getting more comfortable posting, and here we are! Thank you for enjoying my art! I love this ship, it seemed to come into my life when I needed it the most lol.

As for drawing anatomy, get as many references as you can and look at them often. I’m not a very good teacher unfortunately, and I’m not great at it myself, but everything I learned through practice.

I really wanna draw more Hollow Knight stuff. I absolutely fell in love with literally everything about the game. The art style is so gloomy but enchanting at the same time, the soundtrack is just phenomenal, fluid animations and a intricate story.

I've only drawn sealed vessel yet because they are my daddy issues and trauma and I get to project them onto what character I want and I legit just like his design a lot.

I remember having this IZ au where for shit's and giggles but also aesthetic reasons, our normal Dib, Pilot!Dib and Zib were triplets while still having Gaz as a younger sister. Again it was more for the aesthetic of it than anything else XD I did have a plan to said au but I left it back on the IZ Amino and I'd have to download the app just to go get it hhhhhh-

I've been kinda falling out of the AHIT fandom. I think the whole reason I was there was a 5 month hyperfixation on Snatcher XD still I was on that Amino as well and made an au as well. I always go for aus whenever I enter a fandom; I'm not comfortable enough to make an oc yet so I start of by doing that first.

The au was about how after Hat Kid finishes the level in Vanessa's Manor, the queen actually chases after her all the way back to Subcon Forest. Snatcher tries to fight off Vanessa, but she actually proves to be much stronger than him. In a moment of panic and desperation that he can't simply get her out of there, guy's sass completely falls apart and he just angrily vents out at her. However, this time, Vanessa actually listens to him. It's been so long since she had last seen her prince, might as well try.

They somewhat patch things up, reuniting the kingdom under the condition that Snatcher will be the one in control now and Vanessa will just stand on the sidelines. She agrees cuz she's just happy to have her prince back. The au kicked off with this premise, a few years after Hat Kid leaves the planet when she mysteriously crashes right back on Subcon Forest.

This one actually had like two small stories to it I had fully written, which is unusual because I don't usually write that much. I might finish it just for the heck of it but that'll be it.

I would just love to have the chance to develop ocs here, but tumblr is a little bitch to original stuff. The "algorithm" because idfk what else to call it favors fanart above anything else, so getting other stuff out there is kinda hard. Hi again I do really really love writing. Reignited that passion a while ago when I started to rp again (thanks @cyro-starfire XD) so I wanna get back to actually writing stuff. Problem is: idk what to write about. I did pick up a book my mom told me I might like so I'm trying to do that now-

I cannot STRESS enough how much of a BATIM fan I was back in the day XD I left the Amino due to some drama but I'm still planning on returning if the new game catches my attention. Also keeping an eye out for FNAF cuz I'll definitely come back to that due to the game and movie that are in the works.

4. How many fic ideas are you nurturing right now? Care to share one of them?

IDEAS, god. Infinite ideas. Active works-in-progress—either being written or being outlined—eight, ish? But ideas—really, truly infinite.

Like. On a given day, any time I’m NOT writing and NOT doing mentally engaging/occupying work (so, for example, any time that I’m stuffing envelopes at work, or making food, or driving, or showering, or taking out the trash, or cleaning my room, or changing clothes...) I’m daydreaming/brainstorming.

I’ll have whatever subject I’m currently mentally fixed on—usually there’s a handful of scenarios tied to my current hyperfixation, and I’ll mentally cycle through those scenarios over the course of 3-4 days and come up with five or six ways those plots could branch, and then over the next few days my brain will wander over the most interesting branches and they’ll spawn 5-6 new branches, etc...

So like, on an average day, I can mentally produce 2-3 new plot arcs. Not necessarily a whole FIC, but a significant plot thread that could fit within a long fic. Many of them are too wildly self-indulgent to ever write (example: I’ll just wanna whump a character so hard that I veer them deep into OOC territory just to wring out some extra pain, which is okay to keep inside my head and luxuriate in that Suffering but I would never want to WRITE the character like that). And many of them are just the same scenario played over and over with slightly different aspects, like parallel universe versions of each other where only a few details change, and so only one of them is usable and/or aspects from multiple would be combined into the best possible version if ever I was to actually write it. But even with the overly-self-indulgent ones and the duplicates tossed out, there’s still an ever-growing pile of scenes in my head I’ll never have enough time/energy to write lmao.

Example: one of the eight above listed works in progress may or may not end up having a plotline where Character A goes to work for their enemy Character B for a while for the sole purpose of getting intel from them and then backstabbing them. Today’s Infinite Brainstorming Loop was on what if B actually starts to like A during this period? What if B develops a crush on A?—nope, I don’t like how that version of it plays out, this is one case where an unrequited crush detracts from the story instead of adding to it. What if B comes to think of A as a friend? Yes, I like that version better. Okay, replay this whole plotline from the top with this new idea in place. Imagine those interactions with that one-sided friendship. And then oh hey, that would tie into another scene I have planned for B and Character C, so I can mentally replay THAT scene and reimagine the dialogue to be even more dramatic with this new idea in place—

And that’s how every day goes for me.

Anon I have no idea which of my fandoms you’re in so I have no idea which ideas would even be appealing to you, so I’m gonna grab one of my current faves for pure brainstorming fodder that I currently have no plan to actually turn into a real fic: there was an issue of the Invader Zim comic where Dib woke up one day to discover that Zim is suddenly his brother and everyone acts like that’ always been the case, and when the preview of the first few pages of the issue came out everyone went wild speculating on what was going on—clone? parallel universe? brainwashing? Matrix-like simulation? elaborate prank? (spoilers: it was a Matrix-like simulation.)

Between the preview coming out and the full issue coming out with the mystery solved, I got invested in the idea that either Zim had made a perfect clone of himself that was programmed to think it was Dib’s brother OR he’d actually turned himself into a sleeper agent, in either case with the intent of infiltrating Dib’s family for spying and/or sabotage purposes. Except he did too good a job and the new Dib’s Brother Zim fully and completely believed he was a human and Dib’s brother... to horrific medically detrimental consequences when he, like, tried to shower, or eat human foods, or just interact with his brother who had SUDDENLY become convinced he was an ALIEN. It takes like most of a decade for Dib’s Brother Zim to discover that he actually really is an alien, just like Dib always said, with the ensuing horror and grief and identity crisis that you would expect from any other psychologically normal human that suddenly discovered they were actually an alien that had been implanted into the human species for nefarious reasons.

I don’t have a full story for this—like, there’s no resolution to aim toward—and I’m not invested enough in it to work toward making one, especially when I’m still trying to finish ANOTHER extremely long IZ fic—so it’s not among my Currently In Progress Ideas, but it is a world I mentally explore a whole lot.

6. Share one of your weaknesses.

I have trouble remembering to summarize and skip past less important scenes lmao. I always try to write out the whole thing, like, stuff happens here, clearly I have to write it happening, and then I get bored just trying to write it, and then I have to remind myself “if you’re bored writing it everyone will be bored reading it, summarize this part, come on, you can do it, delete all five of those paragraphs and replace them with two sentences, come on, come on—”

It’s hard.

L: What’s the weirdest AU you’ve ever come up with?

I'm not one for creating weird AUs, but when I do, it's because of my extreme hyperfixations. It's probably my ML Invader Zim AU about Adrien being an alien invader sent to take over Earth that's very weird bc IZ is very weird. Tbf, I'd probably only write Adrien going Dark Harvest and eating organs:

Adrien is an irken elite and a special experiment: a mix of their Tallest’s, Emilie and Gabriel, genetics. He would be the perfect soldier if he wasn’t overenthusiastic and destroyed everything in his path (and not in a good way). So, as a means to distract him, Gabriel sends him off to a planet out of an uncharted galaxy, some backwater thing named earth, and asks him to invade it in the name of their empire. Now, all he has to do is pretend to be a normal boy and gather information before invasion. How hard can that be? Turns out pretty hard with supernatural investigative reporter Alya Cesárie on the look out. Meanwhile, Marinette does not want her new crush to be an alien and Nino just wishes Alya would leave his very normal buddy alone. Very much a dark comedy.
