Penguin Classics/Matsuo Bashō
Lips too chilled by Matsuo Bashō. Lips too chilled is a penguin classics book, filled with Matuso’s short poems, such as “Spring rain - they rouse me, old sluggard” and “Dark night - plover crying for its nest”. Some of the poems are dark, some happy and most of them link to everyday life.
Matsuo Bashō is a Japanese poet, he was born in 1644, near Ueno, Japan and died in 1694, in Osaka, Japan. Basho moved to Kyoto, where he studied poetry with a local poet ‘Kigin’, during that time Basho learned Chinese poetry and Taoism, and then began to write ‘haikai no renga’, this is a form of linked verses composed in collaboration.
The opening verse of renga, also known as hokku is structured as three unrythmed lines of five, seven and five syllables. Matsuo Basho is world wide known as the greatest master of haiku, his poems are placed on monuments, shrines and other traditional sites.

Poems that I liked from the book:
- Year by year, the monkey’s mask reveals the monkey.
- Yellow rose petals thunder - a waterfall.
- Over Benkei’s temple, flashing Yoshitune’s sword - May carp.
- Wintry day, on my horse a frozen shadow.
I chose these poems because they stood out the most than the others, my favourite being the ‘yellow rose’ petals and ‘Benkei’s temple’, I liked the rose poem because it seems like it is traumatic due to the use of the word thunder, but when you imagine this scene it is calm and relaxing, you imagine the petals falling in the wind and the sound of the waterfall and the ripples in the water, where the petals lay. But I decided to choose the Benkeis temple due to the use of modelling characters, as well as a story of a warrior Monk being driven by greed and power. But was defeated, and in that moment he saw good and pledged an oath to join Yoshitsune and his army.

Blades Are Like Music | Matsuo | Body Drop Reaction
Just a usual day of kidnapping and boredom, with a light sprinkle of living in hell on top. At this point, Matsuo seemed to be getting used to it. Especially the whole "hell" thing; It got old after a while. He couldn't say that about anyone else, though. Whatever. He was just happy to get the blunt end of the stick. The fencer notices the notification, but doesn't think much of it. Probably just another stupid bear puppet show. That's just the usual around here, ain't it?
He arrives at the hub, his arms folded, a deadpan and relaxed look on his face. He listens to the bear as it spews out its usual gibberish. The words 'short one' hit him hard, though; He hadn't even noticed anyone was missing. Max darts his head from side to side and he begins counting how many people were there. There was... there was 20 of them in total, right? One, Two, Three...
Nineteen. There was only nineteen. Who was missing???
His chest feels as if it's going to drop entirely. Not good not good not good! Was someone actually this fucking foolish?! Was this actually fucking happening?!?! Without thinking, he bolts to the behavioral psychologist's room. He had to... he had to know that this was just a fucking joke. No one was this idiotic, right?
Unfortunately his doubts were only confirmed from there.
Not good. Not good. Not good not good not good not good not good not good notgoodnotgoodnotgoodnotgood!!!!!
Matuso stares down at the small girl's limp body, her blood pooling around her in a small puddle. He didn't know her at all, but... he couldn't help but feel terrible. She didn't deserve this! He was sure of that! And... and whoever did this was gonna pay! The fencer could feel his face begin to heat up in anger. Fuck, he was pissed off! He clenches his fists, tempted to throw one of them at something close by. Max does end up doing so, and he slams his left fist into a wall behind him. It makes a loud crashing noise, and he fans his hand immediately after. That fucking hurt, what a terrible idea. But he was just so mad! He couldn't believe someone was this idiotic! He wants to continue his rampage, to find out who did this and give them a clobbering, but the pounding of anger in his chest stops him. No, this... this was uncalled for. It wouldn't solve anything. Ugh, he... He needed to go sit down. In one last moment, he glares around at the peers surrounding him, and then leaves immediately. He just... just needed to cool down was all.
