AGDQ 2022 Marathon Speedruns Its Way Past $3.4 Million Raised for Prevent Cancer Foundation

  Another Awesome Games Done Quick marathon has come to a close, bringing an end to an incredible week full of record-breaking speedruns and impressive feats of video game mastery. Now that AGDQ 2022 is over, the final tally is in, and the event officially raised over $3.4 million for the Prevent Cancer Foundation.

  This marks the highest grand total ever for a single GDQ event—an amazing $3,416,729 to be exact—showing that the speedrunning community continues to outdo itself every time one of these week-long streams takes place.

  The event started at 11:30am on Sunday, January 9 and wrapped up with its finale around 2:00am on Sunday, January 16. In that time, viewers were treated to everything from a Featherless Nioh 2 run to the usual awful block, a bunch of classic games, and a mind-boggling dash through FromSoftware's Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice… blindfolded. 

  Next up is the all-women's event Frost Fatales on the week of February 27, followed by Summer Games Done Quick, the dates for which will be announced later.

Summer Games Done Quick 2020 Full Schedule Revealed

After a delay and moving to an online format, Summer Games Done Quick has announced its schedule for this summer’s speedrunning event.

For several years, the annual run of Games Done Quick events have not only highlighted the speedrunning community, but gathered gamers and speedrunners from around the world to support a good cause. Given the impacts that are being felt from the coronavirus pandemic around the world, this year’s installment of Summer Games Done Quick is shifting to an online format in lieu of doing an in-person event like usual. However, ahead of the event starting next month, you can take a look right now through the full schedule of speedrunning livestreams right now.

The official schedule for the upcoming Summer Games Done Quick Online has been revealed by the GDQ event organizers, giving a closer look at which games you can expect to see at the show. The full schedule is available right here on Games Done Quick’s official website.

Overall, this year’s Summer Games Done Quick will once again see a mix of returning favorites and some fresh newcomers, including Portal, Hollow Knight, Demon’s Souls, Streets of Rage 4, and many more. Games Done Quick has always been big on surprising games making for impressive speedruns, and even with the change to an online format, this year will surely be no different.

Originally, Summer Games Done Quick 2020 was planned to run in late June, but was delayed to August in light of the developing situation around the coronavirus pandemic. Eventually, the in-person portion of the event was also suspended in favor of an online format, like many other events and conventions have shifted to this year to prevent large gatherings. Games Done Quick also ran a coronavirus relief speedrunning event this past spring to help support those affected by the pandemic and to raise funds towards medical equipment and PPE for medical workers.

Summer Games Done Quick Online 2020 will take place from Sunday, August 16 to Saturday, August 22.
