Steve Aoki's Dim Mak x Candiani Denim Denim Collaboration
Tumblr media
With over a decade of friendship built over a shared passion for creating music and supporting shared responsibility for our planet, Grammy Award winning DJ/music super producer Steve Aoki and denim master Alberto Candiani, owner of the Candiani Mill, announce the launch of their first collaboration, Dim Mak x Candiani EC-01, a limited edition jean that will stand as a showcase of the future of denim. A testament to the intersection of creativity and innovation that has been the hallmark of their respective success stories, the jean is made with an unprecedented level of attention and detail for true denim aficionados.
Completely made in Los Angeles with fabric created by globally-recognized Candiani Denim Mill and hand painted by Aoki and his Dim Mak artisans, the EC-01 jean ($150.00) will debut on Friday, May 15, 2020 at 8AM EDT on www.DimMakCollection.com and the Dim Mak App available on iTunes and Googleplay.
The new 5-pocket straight-fit jean is an incredible feat in modern water-saving and sustainable manufacturing. Crafted with ReGEN Denim - a statement indigo selvedge fabric created for the 80th Anniversary of the Candiani Mill the EC-01 jean is made without using any fresh cotton. The exclusive denim fabric is composed of equal parts recycled cotton, made from the mill’s own production waste, and REFIBRA™ Technology, a recycled fiber created by Lenzing using cotton waste. ReGEN is the same fabric that won the ITMA Sustainable Innovation Award in 2019, the most prestigious award in the textile industry.
The denim’s wash required very little washing at all.  The distressed, vintage-effects, and even the artwork itself, was created by using laser technology to gently burn the fabric’s surface with varying degrees of intensity.  The yarn is dyed using Candiani’s water-saving Indigo Juice® and Kitotex® technologies which enhance the custom laser treatments that give the jean its signature look. The whole process of creation allows for incredible savings in terms of water, chemicals, and energy compared to conventional denim, without compromising the aesthetics, performance, and durability of the final product.
In the hands of Dim Mak, the EC-01 jeans have a deconstructed pop art meets manga aesthetic which has evolved from Dim Mak’s ‘AOKI 1of1’ series, where Steve Aoki, the multi-platform, modern day renaissance man has been upcycling clothing and making original, one-of-a-kind wearable art pieces.  Working at the Candiani Design Center in Los Angeles, Aoki chose hardware and learned about denim treatments and processes before adding another very personal touch to each pair – individually hand painted Yōkai, the Japanese demons including the misunderstood Rokurokubi, the mischievous Karakasa kozō, and monstrous Gashadokuro - with the help of Dim Mak’s artists at Aoki’s Las Vegas home, where Aoki has a design and recording studio.
“When I visited the Candiani Mill in Italy,” says Steve Aoki, Alberto showed me how they were able to reuse waste in making new, even better jeans. I was inspired by their conscientiousness toward the earth and wanted to bring that mindset into Dim Mak with our first collaboration.”
“Steve and I did this collaboration to have fun, and we did,” reveals Alberto Candiani. “We leveraged each other’s expertise and style to create a one-of-a-kind jean that is a true reflection of our friendship. This project was incredibly fun for both of us, made better by playing with the right ingredients.”

Italian textile machinery declining orders for fourth quater 2022
Tumblr media
The fourth quarter 2022 textile machinery orders index, processed by ACIMIT, the Association of Italian Textile Machinery Manufacturers, showed a sharp 35% decline compared to the period from October to December 2021. In absolute value, the index stood at 83.6 points (basis: 2015=100).
Orders took a 34% drop on the domestic market, while the foreign index was down fully 37%. In Italy, the index’s absolute value came in at 155.4 points, whereas on foreign markets the value stood at 75.8 points.
On annual basis, the orders index marked an 18% decrease and an absolute value of 110.4 points. The drop in orders abroad was 17%, while orders collected in Italy were 28% lower than the figures drawn up in 2021.
ACIMIT president Alessandro Zucchi stated that, “The orders index data for the fourth quarter confirms what had already been observed in the previous quarters in 2022. After a sharp increase in 2021, this decrease in orders for the past year is physiological. Furthermore, the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine, with its related consequences on daily business and trade, and a macroeconomic framework in which uncertainty prevails, have further negatively affected the orders intake.”
Data for the last quarter does not suggest a reverse in the negative trend for the first months of 2023. Declining energy prices and inflation, although still high, also declining slightly are, however, signs of a light improvement in the business of companies in the sector as well. “We need to look to the current year with optimism,” continued ACIMIT president. “Our member companies are already focusing on ITMA, the upcoming global textile machinery industry trade fair, that will be held from June 8-14 in Milan."
”I am confident that ITMA Milan can represent an opportunity for further development of the Italian textile machinery sector,” concluded Zucchi. “The technological innovations that our manufacturers will bring to the trade show will meet the textile industry’s need to be increasingly sustainable, both environmentally and economically.”

“The textile and garment business of Bangladesh will remain competitive over the next many years as the demand is increasing every year both in the international and local markets. At the same time, Bangladesh will continue to grow as a major textile machinery market,” said Chen Ji, Secretary-General of the China Sewing Machinery Association (CSMA). He said this in the four-day Dhaka International Textile and Garment Machinery (DTG 2019) exhibition continued from January 9-12 at ICCB, Dhaka with an aim to attract both local and foreign investment in the textile and apparel sectors, and showcasing latest brands of textile machinery. DTG in conjunction with the 16th Dhaka Int’l Textile & Apparel Accessories Exhibition (DitaTex) and the inaugural Bangladesh Int’l Sewing Machinery & Accessories Fair (BISMA) have showcased complete textile and garment supply chains covering different processing stages from spinning, weaving, knitting, dyeing and finishing to sewing and fabrics. The event was jointly organized by Bangladesh Textile Mills Association (BTMA) and Yorkers Trade and Marketing Service Co. Ltd where Bangladesh Textile Today was the media partner of the event. In the opening day, President of Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) Md. Siddiqur Rahman, Vice President (Finance) of BGMEA Md. Nasir, 2nd Vice President of Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA) Fazlee Shamim Ehsan and Secretary General of China Sewing Machinery Association Chen Ji inaugurated the exhibitions. Judy Wang, president of Yorkers Trade & Marketing Services Co., stated that every year the number of participants was increasing as renowned textile and garment manufacturing companies in the world wanted to sell their goods in Bangladesh. Local spinners can meet 80 percent of the demand of the knitwear sector, while only 35 -40 percent of the woven sectors' demand can be met by local suppliers, Judy Wang said. “So, there is room for further big investment in the woven sector where local entrepreneurs will need to install machinery worth of billions of US dollars,” Judy added. DTG has annually kept bringing world-class professional brand suppliers for Bangladesh’s textile and garment industries, and has been likened to a ‘mini ITMA’. This year, the show boosted the largest scale in its 16-year history, with 1, 200 brands using 1,650 booths or 30,000 sqm in space to display their latest products, up 25% on year. The event gathered brand suppliers from 37 countries and regions, including Australia, Austria, Bangladesh, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China, Croatia, Chechnya, Denmark, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Netherlands, Pakistan, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Spain, Sri Lanka, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, and USA. Textile and garment industry has already become the most important sector of Bangladesh which account for over 82% of export turnover rate, making Bangladesh the second largest garment exporter of the world. According to the prediction, the amount of Bangladesh’s textile & garment export will reach US$$50 billion by 2021. As country’s textile & garment industry continues expansion, the demand for advanced machinery and technology is on the rise, several major sectors are ready to update its machinery and equipment for driving all relative industries to the next leading level.
