‘Sweetheart, what’re you doing?’ Jason asked as he watched you place a plastic light up black candle between a werewolf skull and a glow in the dark zombie figure upon your window sill.

‘It’s Halloween season.’ You replied.

Jason cackled. ‘Chipmunk, it’s September 1st! You’re early to start decorating the apartment with fake skulls, skeletons and pumpkin decorations.’ He found your love for the spooky holiday adorable as he did hilarious, especially when he woke up at 3am to you stringing up bat and autumn leaf lights across the headboard of your shared bed, muttering under your breath. ‘It’s spooky time, the chill in the air is the first sign as the leaves become a gorgeous golden.’

You pouted, looking over at Jason, dressed in your matching scooby doo pyjamas and matching slippers of the talking Great Dane.

‘Jason.’

‘Yes.’

‘My sweet, sweet jaybird.’

‘Look me in the eye,’ Jason does as you say as he loved looking within them whenever he could and will take any opportunity to do so anyway, ‘do I look like I care? No, it’s spooky time, now help me hang this motion sensor hanging skeleton near the door, dick hates it but i think it’s funny seeing him scared shitless.’ You told him with the up most seriousness as you help out the decorative piece out towards him as he smiled.

‘As you wish my spooky chipmunk.’ Jason cooed as he pressed a kiss to your cheek before taking the skeleton from your hand and made his way towards the door, for just like you he loved seeing dick scared shitless by it, it was too good of an thing to not watch as Dick’s soul almost come out of his body for the tenth consecutive time.

Halloween might become his favourite holiday if this is what he got to experience each time with you.

"y/n y/m/n y/l/n, watch your language!" her mother shouted from the kitchen

next to her on the couch, liam snickered, pulling her closer. guillermo del toro's 'cabinet of curiosities' was playing on the screen, and y/n had been jumpy throughout the whole episode.

y/n was a gentle soul. she preferred cozy mysteries, and humorous action thrillers as opposed to straight up horror. sure, the pillars of the slasher genre were wonderful films (she's first in line to see any new 'scream' movie), but she did not do well when she was genuinely scared.

"sorry, mom!" she shouted, resting her head against liam's shoulder. "liam has bad taste in movies."

"it's one episode!" the kiwi laughed. "i'm sorry, you can pick the next movie."

y/n rolled her eyes, getting up from the couch to hug her parents goodbye. she and liam had agreed to stay in that night, allowing her parents to go to an annual charity event thrown by one of her fathers friends. her sister was at a party, and as someone who had a quiet, peaceful life and wasn’t always invited to things, y/n was extended a chance to stay at home.

of course, learning that they would have the house to themselves, liam was all too quick to tag along, for less than wholesome reasons. while y/n had planned a couple's movie night, complete with matching hotel transylvania costumes and a stack of scooby doo movies, wheras liam had planned to get her to scream in more ways than one.

y/n got up from the couch, her nylon-clad feet skidding across the hardwood as she went to hug her parents. "bye guys, i'll see you in the morning."

"have a great time, mr. and mrs. (your last intital)!" liam shouted

"no funny business with my daughter, lawson. and no drinking." her father scolded, pointing his finger towards his daughter's boyfriend.

"dad! we're adults, i think we can handle ourselves." she laughed, giving her father a hug before her parents went out the front door.

she closed the door behind them, leaving it unlocked and the jack-o-lantern on the front porch turned on before backtracking to the kitchen and refilling the candy dish she and liam had been snacking from.

"you'll have to keep an ear out for the front door, but other than that, do you want to put beetlejuice on when this is over?" she suggested, bringing the candy bowl back over to the couch and curling into her boyfriend.

"i dunno, your parents are gone, i kind of hand something else on my mind." liam grinned, one hand trailing up her thigh.

"oh yeah?" she purred, maneuvering herself into liam's lap, poking his nose before kissing him softly, her blue lipstick smearing against his skin.

liam cupped her face with his free hand, his other arm going around her waist to pull her closer. she hummed contentedly as she nestled her body into his, taking his top lip in between her own.

“your lipstick tastes good.” liam remarked, lips ringed in the dark blue cosmetic. “like blue raspberry.”

“you’re such a dork.” she giggled, brushing an errant blonde hair out of his face before kissing her lover again.

liam moaned into it, feeling himself grow harder every time that her thigh brushed over his crotch. she was driving him wild, the end of cabinets of curiosities forgotten as they made out like teenagers.

the doorbell rang, startling them both as they jolted on the couch. y/n pulled away from liam, wiping the smudged gloss from her swollen lips before getting off the couch and reaching for the bowl of cadbury chocolates across from her.

“trick or treat!”

there were three kids standing in the doorstep, each dressed as a different superhero as they held pillowcases out in front of them as she dropped handfuls of pocket sized chocolates into the bags.

“you kids have a great night.” she chirped, waving not just to the kids, but to the parents waiting on the sidewalk before slipping back into the house.

she left the plastic candy dish on the front bench, a grin on her face as she went back to the living room. liam hadn’t mailed from the couch, one hand over his eyes and the other clutching a throw pillow over his crotch.

“seriously, liam?” she laughed, reaching for the tv remote. “come on, we have to be aware of our surroundings. little kids are going to be knocking on the door all night.”

liam groaned. “sounds like hell to me, babe.”

she shook her head, grinning as she used the remote to navigate over to the amazon icon to rent ‘beetlejuice.” she was just about to hit rent when she felt a pair of arms wrap around her waist.

“liam!” she shouted, giggling as he nuzzled his cold nose into the tender flesh of her neck. “you know you’re just gonna get interrupted again, right?”

“don’t care.” he hummed, pressing kisses up and down her throat. “babe, we finally have the house to ourselves and I am so fucking horny for you right now.”

she giggled, extracting herself from liam’s hold to teasingly bend down near the coffee table, placing the realtor back on the glass top. at the sight of her skirt riding up over her orange and black nylon tights, the lacy hem of her panties visible through the nylon as she bent over, the kiwi could hardly contain himself.

especially when there was another ring of the doorbell.

this time, liam offered to get the door, almost dropping the candy bowl as he tried to get the door open, shaking hands unable to grasp the doorknob as be tried to get his breathing under control.

“woah, are you liam lawson?” one of the kids shouted, his voice echoing through the street. “I watched you on tv last week!”

despite himself, liam laughed. “right on, kiddo!” he held his fist out for a fist bump, kneeling to the kids level. “hang on just a second and I’ll get my girlfriend out here to take a picture of the two of us, yeah?”

“you seem cheerful for a man that didn’t want to hand out candy.” y/n chuckled from the doorway. “come on then, pass me his iPod touch or whatever and I’ll get the best fan pics he’s ever seen.”

the kids eyes lit up as liam moved to crouch next to him, matching his height almost exactly as y/n snapped a few pictures.

“your girlfriend is really pretty.” the kid said, giddy as he took his iPod back. “are you guys going to get married?”

liam laughed heartily, tactfully avoiding the question as he asked the kid what his favourite part of the race in qatar had been, dropping a handful of cadbury chocolates into the mummy shaped bucket.

once the kid was gone and the door was closed, he wasted no time in pulling y/n close and sliding his hands up her dress.

“someone’s eager. if anyone should be exited after watching you interact with kids, it should be me.” she giggled, kissing his cheek.

her lipstick was dry now, and liam found himself slightly disappointed that it didn’t leave a mark.

liam raised an eyebrow. “oh, yeah? so in addition to making you scream my name tonight, should I fill you up with my cum? start practicing for when it’s time to get you pregnant?”

she nodded eagerly, wishing for nothing more than liam pressing her up against the foyer wall and taking what he wanted. what they both wanted.

“fuck.” liam breathed, his breath warm on her skin. “you’re really hot when you have baby fever, you know that? and that kid wasn’t even a baby, he was like five.”

“shut up and kiss me, lawson.”

but just as liam leaned in, the fucking doorbell rang.

he cursed, throwing his head back in a groan as y/n gave him a sympathetic smile. she picked up the candy bucket, dutifully opening the front door and greeting the horde of kids who had chased each other up the driveway and around liams bmw.

while her back was turned, distracted by handing out candy, liam reached his breaking point, scrambling to find a piece of paper and a pen.

please take one handful each, and ring the doorbell if bowl is empty. we are home but enjoying a scary movie night and my girlfriend is jumpy :)

when y/n turned away, closing the door behind her, liam was quick to grab the bowl, whisking it away to the kitchen and ignoring his girlfriends confused look as he practically overfilled the bowl, taking on the sign and leaving it on the cast iron bench outside the house.

“now, where were we?” he grinned, pulling her in for a kiss. she broke out into a smile, knowing exactly why liam had done what he did. “that bowl is almost full, it will keep the kids occupied for a very long time.”

“what if someone takes the whole bowl? what then?” she giggled, playfully teasing her lover, hands gently rubbing at his shoulder blades.

“then I’ll buy your mom a new one.” he decided, paying the matter very little attention as he swept his girlfriend off her feet, carrying her bridal style towards the stairs. “now, my fair maiden, you bedroom awaits.”

Random Dark SBI Au that takes influence from Scooby Doo Zombie Island a bit that I must share

Technoblade who is a cameraman for a show that likes to report of supposedly haunted or cursed locations. He doesn’t know whether he subscribes to it all himself, but a job is a job and he needs money. And during one trip they come across Wilbur and Tommy who supposedly live on a haunted island with their father.

And the crew decides what the heck, let’s check out their supposedly haunted home. Taking a boat ferry across to start documenting the experience at the Craft Manor.

During their stay, the Crafts get close to Techno in particular while they report on incidents and events that are happening around the manor. Never knowing that the reason for said incidents are because of the Crafts themselves.

Werecats who had acclaimed immortality centuries ago after surviving a massacre. The only catch to their immortality is that they had to absorb the souls of mortal people every month or so to continue surviving.

And when it gets to the time to do the same to Techno and his crew- they hesitate cause they do like Techno. And killing them sends a wave of sadness through the three of them. Until they realize they can also give him the same gift of immortality.

A new kitten to join the family. Even if he truly doesn’t realize that quite yet.

I'm laughing so hard, what an odd place to find dark sbi inspiration. banger movie though. And banger idea, honestly. I'd read the shit out of something like this!

So, I just upgraded my copy of Wait Until Dark to blu-ray, and as I was watching the opening scene with our three criminals, I started thinking about something...I don't think I've ever asked you this, lol...

What do you think Roat would have done if Mike hadn't insisted on looking inside the closet? If he and Carlino had agreed to do the job and just left? How would Roat have kept the two of them on the hook, so to speak?

Also, what do you think they would have done if Susy had not gone to Sam's studio? If Sam had told her that he wasn't going to wait for Leciana anymore, and he'd be home in 20 minutes...do you think they would have just bolted, leaving Lisa's body hanging on the closet door?

Btw good on upgrading to bluray. The bluray's image quality is so dramatically superior to the greyed out looking DVD.

As for your questions--

If Mike hadn't insisted on looking in the closet, I think Roat would have tried guiding him to the bedroom indirectly-- or directly, I suppose, if he felt Mike was too dense/stubborn. Lisa being dead is a big part of the con plot, so even if they were like "yeah we'll work with you" and even if they were like "cool you killed Lisa, I hated her," knowing she is dead and dumping the corpse where it will be found is still part of the story, so he very well can't have them leave without knowing. And even if they were like "oh no, you killed Lisa :( we thought you were cool," it still suits Roat's purposes. This whole mission is just as much about Roat having a good time as it is retrieving the drugs (something Arkin has said in a lot of interviews), and his idea of a good time is manipulating and controlling people. He ain't here to make friends.

If Sam had claimed he was coming home ASAP, Roat would have probably done what he did in the same scene in the original play-- call Sam up, pretend to be Liciana's assistant, and beg him to wait a bit longer to buy more time. Only it probably would have been at the phone booth, after sneaking out of the apartment-- which would have been a feat in and of itself given Susy's now staying put, but still doable depending on what she was doing/what room she was in.

If Sam was still going to wait longer and Susy planned on staying home, that could've gotten very unpleasant fast. Leaving the corpse behind would be the worst-case scenario since it would invite the cops over, delay getting the heroin back, risk the heroin being discovered by the police, etc. Really, the ideal scenario here would be the men being able to somehow lure Susy out of the apartment and then distract her outside while the other two move the corpse in the carpet to Roat's Scooby Doo van. It would be hard for them to communicate wordlessly with her there, but they manage it a few times in the actual movie, so who knows? (That would dance on the edge of farce. I’m just chuckling imagining it.)

And if they couldn't lure her out and weren't willing to leave the stiff in the closet? Well, that could get grisly.

While rewatching the movie the other day, I noticed when Susy floats the idea of waiting at home, the film cuts to a reaction shot of Roat and he doesn’t look nervous or even annoyed at the potential downfall of his entire scheme (see the clip above, starting at the 2 minute mark). He looks intrigued, but it’s hard to get a read on why that might be.

Because he likes the challenge? Or because he might get to skip to the physical violence?

If he did plan on just skipping to threats of arson and murder, he would still have the other two to contend with and I imagine he might suspect they may be squeamish about physically torturing an innocent woman. That whole thing could’ve been a shitshow and a whole other story entirely. Probably more like a giallo.

If it's not much trouble could I get shaggy rogers and scooby doo (platonic and from the Mistery Inc series, the one from 2007 I think) with a fem teen reader, like in her 12-13-14, that is part of the gang but is highly afraid of the dark?

Thin/bony/skeletal hands with that lovely little black->skintone gradient from fingertips->elbows

If he shakes around, he makes a faint rattling noise. No one knows exactly where in his body it's coming from, least of all him.

Great with sword but frankly AWFUL with a bow. (Phil teases him relentlessly for this.)

Cold to the touch! This is because he has a very, VERY low-grade withering effect to everything he touches, which saps only warmth (not life) from others.

He DOES have the ability to wither others tho, so watch out >.>

When angry/upset, wither dust starts collecting around him in clouds until he's just a looming fog of death. (His soulfire eyes burn through the darkness like headlights and it is TERRIFYING.)

Loves the hot weather on the island! Somehow, it feels like home. He has a very high heat tolerance, and he wears cloaks/thick layers all day every day; meanwhile, warm-blooded mammal Phil---with his big black heat-absorbing wings---is dying. (Missa teases him relentlessly for this.)

Fucking PETRIFIED of dogs. Like, primal fear. He will full-on Scooby-Doo jump into Phil's arms at the sight of a pomeranian.

Wither skeletons learn to fight with weapons when they're very young, which is why Missa was so quick to give newly-adopted Chayanne a sword. He's very proud of his little warrior <3

If he holds bones/dead matter in his hands and concentrates hard enough, he can turn it into pure soul sand. This is great for making long-burning torches, camp fires, etc.

The two quickly become close, but both of their families are hiding dark secrets. Dean’s in the form of an absent father who seems to drain all happiness from his two children whenever he’s around, and Castiel’s in the form of a prophecy which unites the two boys, but may ultimately tear them apart.

Excerpt: Dean starts climbing and Castiel waits for him to be about halfway up before he flaps his wings twice and jumps to the branch. “Hey no fair!” Dean calls after him, “I forgot you could fly. Flying is cheating.” “You didn’t specify no flying when you made the rules,” Castiel calls back laughing from his perch on the branch.  Castiel watches Dean climb the rest of the way up, his muscles stretching and coiling under the skin of his arms. He’s strong and lithe, graceful and sure of his movements in a way that Castiel can only imitate in flight. On the ground, the calculated angular movements of an Angel make him look robotic in comparison. He is unnatural where Dean is at home, as a true son of the Earth. And God took clay from Earth’s four corners and gave it the breath of life. Man is better than angel. Created for more than just the divine. Their perfect imperfections leave room for beauty. He straddles it, facing Dean.  “Would you like to race back down?” he says with a cheeky grin.  “No,” Dean pouts, crossing his arms “You’d probably just jump, Mister I-Can-Survive-a-Tornado.” Castiel laughs boisterously, and it seems his laugh is contagious because Dean starts laughing as well. They both smile, looking at each other. The sun dapples Dean’s skin with patches of light through the leaves.  Castiel walks with the brothers back to the nearby motel they’re staying at. Dean is in an uncharacteristically carefree mood, skipping and chattering on like the first time Castiel met him. When they reach the motel, Dean’s face falls as he looks at a big black car parked outside their room. He picks up Sam and turns towards Cas frowning.  “You gotta go home now, Cas, but we can watch Scooby Doo another day, okay?” he says. Castiel is confused but agrees and flies away.  The next time he sees the Winchester brothers, Dean has a black eye. He won’t tell Castiel where it’s from.

Can I give you my rant about the absolute MESS Astruc and the rest of the staff did with the background of ML? Because it's infuriating to a history buff and cultural appreciator like me. Especially after the episode Darkblade shows they CAN do a good job (the story of the ancestor Darkblade is the last years of Bernard VII, Count of Armagnac and Conestable of France, just with names filed off), they just choose to be lazy. And infuriating.

Side material references the Fox, Bee, Turtle, Peacock, and Butterfly Miraculous as the Elemental Miraculous, drawing in the Wuxing... And they never explored that.

The Miraculous Order was based in Tibet... Except the Wuxing link above and everything else we see of the Order say they're Daoist-adiacent, and the Tibetan monasteries are Buddhist. And let's not go on the fact Tibet was a different and often rival civilization to China (even the CCP admits that, and bases their control on how China had CONQUERED Tibet before the British got involved) yet the Order is quite obviously Chinese...

Gabi Gassette changed name in Gabriel Agreste... Except this is impossible under French law. Changing one's personal name is already hard enough, and changing the family name requires a petition to the PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC proving you have a good reason under French law (and by what is shown, he didn't have one).

Joan of Arc never user her sword in combat, and in fact created her famous banner to have an excuse to not fight. So the scene of her getting time displaced and drawing a sword to fight is utterly ahistorical.

Lila Rossi is coded as an Italian, and I say that as an actual Italian. Her gestures, her expressivity, her hamminess, even her vindicativeness ("vendetta" is actually the generic Italian word for "revenge", but in English it became the word for "horrific revenge" because we're THAT vindicative), everything says she's an Italian teenaged girl. So all the "Cerise" nonsense is frankly ridiculous...

Now the really infuriating one, their take on Joan of Arc, of how she and the English bearer of the Black Cat were manipulated by the ambition of the Kings of France and England. Except Charles of France was the Dauphin, that is the heir to the throne, and grasping at straws to save France from the invasion when Joan showed up and requested he gave her an army to throw the English out of France and couldn't get crowned until Joan reconquered Reims, the city of the coronation. As for Henry VI of England, he was SIX (almost seven) when Joan entered the war (hence why Charles had a chance to reclaim the throne, to be crowned King of France one had to be a knight, and that meant one had to be an adult). These guys claimed Joan and Dark Grimalkin were manipulated by a desperate prince who was considering giving up and by a six years old child.

Sorry for the rant... But seriously, why did they do all of that?!

Because it's Thomas Astruc, and frankly I have no idea! Don't worry, rants are always welcome! By all means, I'm sure there's more stuff if we look for it! As a fellow history nerd, and also with Joan being my single favorite French historical figure ever, I have been seething ever since I saw their take on her. Henry the VI was literally just a child, and Charles was dependant on Joan because the English were demolishing France at the time! There is a perfectly good story in real history as to what could have happened to her and Dark Grimalkin! Just do an "partners on opposide sides of a war", slap in the iconic banner as her Miraculous weapon and call it a day! It would have been so much easier to follow real history! They didn't even need to do any work!

And as for the Cerise nonsense...that "explanation" better be really good. It better be Dark Souls-level deep lore with an interconnected backstory that ties up every single mystery in Lila's character better than Scooby Doo ever could, or I am going to lose my mind! I've already said this in my Lila post, but it's genuinely offensive that they had such a great idea for a character, and built her up so much...just to say "oh well actually she has three moms who don't even know eachother, and her name is Cerise, or Iris, or...something else". Lile c'mon! For Nooroo's sake here, it's a blatantly poor attempt to make her interesting again and it only worked because the fandom is grasping at straws for theory material because of the hiatus!

Any side material for the show just doesn't do a good enough job at actually giving us something new, or at the very least something interesting. The Miraculous and Kwami are constantly sidelined because why bother talking about this extremely high-potential universe you have in your show's Lore...if you didn't bother to fill in the blanks? Kwami are supposed to be Gods, Season 2 has references to Plagg blowing up Atlantis! Myths are apparently real in this universe! Please do something with that Thomas, it's free money! But nope, of course they ignore it.

The Guardian Order...well, I call them "The Jedi from Wish" for a reason. Like okay, religious order that has conservative thinking and backwards methods in a new world that is rapidly and constantly evolving. Cool concept! Unfortunately they don't even get their designs right, can't be consistent with which religion they're even based on, contradict themselves all the time, and make them utterly irrelevant after Su Han's first appearence. His only job in the story is to show up, yell at the protagonists, and then be proven wrong because "Ladybug is always right", only to apologize and then yeet himself to Brazil or something! I have an entire rant about this guy, but I'll refrain atm.

And lastly abt Gabriel's name change, I honestly didn't know that. Cool info, I'll add to my list of "times the writers didn't do their 5-minute google search". But like, c'mon. You're choosing to incorporate an important detail about your main villain into his backstory. Shouldn't you have somebody do the research to see if that's even possible? Even the intern is better than no one! I swear...and then us fanfic authors spend hours upon hours looking up obscure stuff just so one sentence/joke can be factually correct.

I don’t know about you, but one of my favorite parts of October is watching all the classic spooky season movies I grew up with. It brings back all those fond memories of childhood fall festivities, Halloween costume planning, and the joy of filling up your candy bucket while trick-or-treating (even if you had to fight your mom about wearing a jacket with your costume because it was too cold).
