CHAPTER 3: Setting the Soul free?..

An: Yippee! I was able to get this friday off to make this chapter come out early! So yeah!!!

Friday, August 27 [xxxx], 09:37pm

Everyone met up at the same bus stop near their school and made sure to do a head count and quick check on their equipment. “Okay so we have everything and everyone here… lets go.” Rey said as she led them back to the abandoned building. Althea held the thermometer and had Penny carried on her back, Chiffon had the EMF reader in hand and a crucifix in her pocket, and Atlas carried the notebooks, cameras, and the Ouija Board. Once they set up their equipment and some cameras they started roaming around the building, each of them having their own floor and notebook to investigate. With Penny and Althea investigating the first floor just to make sure it’s safe, Chiffon on the second floor, Atlas on the third and Rey on the forth.

Friday, August 27 [xxxx], 11:04pm

They proceeded with their investigation until 11pm when they all met up outside the building and collected all the data they wrote. In Althea and Penny’s notebook it said that they would hear a subtle foot tapping like a walk on their floor and not upstairs, and the sounds of echoing whispers nearby, like souls getting tortured and burned in hell. Meanwhile in Chiffon’s notebook she mentioned how whenever she returns to a certain spot an object would either appear or go missing, and the EMF reader would slowly get close to level 4 or 5 with each ticking second. In Atlas’ end, he noted how there would be deep and loud whispers from a female voice, telling him scrambled words or a different language that he couldn’t understand. As for Rey, she noted down how she had a feeling like there was someone or something behind her but whenever she looked back, all she saw was nothing. So they had to end up using the Ouija board. They made sure Penny was somewhere in a safe distance away as they set it up.

Friday, August 27 [xxxx], 11:23pm

They all placed their hands on the planchette, they proceeded by asking the basic questions. “Ms. Marian dela Cruz, are you here with us now?” Rey asked as the planchette slowly moved towards the yes. “Oh ms. dela Cruz, are you here to cause us harm?” Chiffon asked. The planchette stayed on the answer yes which made them worried a bit, giving Atlas some goosebumps. “Ms. Marian, may we ask if you can show yourself to us?…” the planchette then started moving towards different letters, they were all being noted down by Atlas and as they read what it spelt it said ‘respice post te.’ “What?…” Atlas said confused and pissed. Chiffon’s eyes widened as she read it, she quickly told Rey “whatever you do, make sure to not make any sudden movements, and make sure to turn your head slowly, Rey.” She looked at Chiffon confused and slowly turned her head, thats when she saw the ‘figure’ that they saw in the recorded video from a few days ago, it was right there, staring at her. Rey slowly took out her flashlight, ready to flash it at the figure if it plans to charge at them. Atlas slowly moves behind Rey, with Althea slowly pulling Penny next to her. “What do we do..” Althea whispers to Rey. “We slowly stand up, you all stay behind me and gently walk out to the exit. Leave the other replaceable things behind and make sure Penny sticks with atleast one of you.” Rey responded as she slowly stood up with the others and slowly backed away as Rey pointed the not yet lit flashlight at the figure.

Friday, August 27 [xxxx], 11:28pm

Rey and Atlas goes back to the building but doesnt enter just yet, they checked the surroundings and turned on Rey’s flashlight. “Thats odd…” Rey says “whats wrong?” Atlas asks as he looked at Rey. “I can’t find a single trace on where the figure wouldve went, no signs, no more eerie sounds, no nothing. Do you think it was able to free itself?..”, “Maybe, we’ll never know unless we see it ourselves. Well i’ll be going now since I guess my job here is done.” Atlas responds as he carries his bag and walks away, planning to stay the night at Ellis’ apartment.

“I think we should investigate about this more and continue the search of mrs. dela Cruz’s spirit tomorrow.” Althea said as she looked at Rey, waiting for her approval. “Fine.. me and Atlas will continue investigating about this later, you and Chiffon should go back and recheck our equipment and make sure the next time we come back there will be no difficulties.” Rey said with a slight nod. “Do we meet up here at the same time?” Chiffon asked, with Althea responding with a nod.

Rey and Atlas finished noting down their observations in the 3 hour video and wrote the following:

“So you guys think the shadow figure is mrs. dela Cruz?” Chiffon asked looking at Atlas and Rey. “Yeah… well those are our observations and theories atleast.” Rey said, “well if thats the case I think we should tell her daughter” Althea stated. “But what exactly do we tell her?” Asked Chiffon, “well we should tell her only the part where Marian’s spirit is still possibly in there and that we will soon try to set her free tomorrow night.” Atlast answered. With all of them agreeing to the plan, Rey contacts Mae, Marian’s daughter and the person who hired them to tell her their observations from last night and their plans, after a few minutes Mae picks up “Hello Rey, do you have any updates for me?” Rey responds “yes ms. Mae, me and my group have investigated with the information we were able to get from last night, both through face to face and video. We suspected that your mother’s spirit is still in that building, and tomorrow night is when we plan to try and set her soul free. I hope that is okay with you, but if you wish it to be more early then we maybe can do it tonight aswell.”, “Tomorrow night seems fine by me Rey, thank you for the update. Goodbye.” Mae says as she hangs up the phone. “Oh shit…” Althea says as she checks her phone “I just realized, I need to babysit my little sister tomorrow night. I think I won’t be able to come…” Althea says as she sighs. “You mean Penny? Isn’t she into this type of paranormal stuff? Why don’t we invite her?” Chiffon said in a genuine tone. “As long as she doesnt cause much noise or ruckus then fine… just keep her close though.” Rey said as she turned away and left.

Chapter 1: The First call

It was a quiet and peaceful evening for all of them, until Rey sent a message to their group chat telling them to meet her infront of the bus stop near their school. As all of them arrived to the destination, Rey lead them in an allyway going to an old abandoned apartment complex that burnt down years ago and was rumoured to be haunted by the victims of the incident. As they walked towards the building, Chiffon asked “Rey, why did you call us to be here? It’s almost 10 o’clock.” Rey continued walking with the flashlight for a few seconds before responding “because, I got a call from a lady who wanted to hire us to try and check if her dead mother’s soul is still trapped in this building and if we can set it free and let it be at peace.” Atlas looked at Rey in a suspicious way and said “Do people actually believe this place is haunted just because people died in here?”, “Well, there are paranormal cases of people hearing noises such as eerie echoes and cries down hear, along with dropping or falling if objects even if it wasnt touched.” Althea said to Atlas.

Wednesday, August 25, [xxxx], 10:36pm

It was quiet… too quiet, which made Atlas speak up. “What exactly are we waiting for? We have been roaming around here for an hour and no paranormal activity seems to happen. Can’t we just set a camera here and wait outside?” Rey looked at Atlas and spoke in a mocking tone “are you scared or something? Why don’t you want to be here and experience it in real life. Why need a camera when you can have yourself to see everything in live time?” Atlas looks at Rey before slumping his shoulders “fine… lets stay until something happens.” Rey smiles then pulls out a spirit box and starts talking “miss… checks note Marian dela Cruz, if you are here please respond to us in any way, either through the spirit box or interacting with the Ouija board we have layed down on the floor.” Rey said as she pointed towards the Ouija board. Chiffon held the EMF reader, Atlas held a notebook to take down notes, Althea kept an eye on the Ouija board while she held the thermometer.

Wednesday, August 25 [xxxx], 11:23pm

“Rey its been so long…. Nothing is happening, nothing is moving, there is no sound, I think we should just go.” Atlas complained. “Shhh. Shut the fuck up! If you keep complaining the ghost would never come to interact with us!” Rey said as she flashed the light onto Atlas. “Rey, I think it’s getting late… its already close to 11:30, I think we should just put a camera here and head home to rest.” Chiffon stated as she looked at her watch. “I guess you’re right…. you guys can head home now, i’ll wait until 3am.” Rey said with a sigh, “how about this, we all go home and leave a camera here, take a short nap then return before or on 3am or witching hour to check if anything changed.” Althea stated, waiting for the others response. “Sounds good to me”, “Yeah sure!”, “alright, fine..”

Thursday, August 26 [xxxx], 03:04am

Rey was the first to arrive out of the 4, she checked the footage to see if anything happened that was caught on video while they were gone. It seemed that the EMF reader that they left on the floor got triggered to level 4-5 atleast 2 times between the times of 01:23 and 02:36am. “Hm… that’s odd…” Rey said as she noticed some sort of shadow figure in the background of the video.

Thursday, August 26 [xxxx], 03:13am

Althea and Chiffon were the next to arrive, soon followed by Atlas who seemed like he just woke up. “Sorry we’re late, we lost track of time and navigation…. Did anything get caught on camera?” Althea asked. “Yeah, the EMF reader hit level 4-5 atleast twice during 01:20am to 02:40am, and there was this strange tall figure in the background….” Rey said as she showed the footage. Everytime the EMF reader was triggered there would always be a tall figure appearing nearby in the background. “Woah! So this place is haunted!” Chiffon exclaimed with a bit of excitement, Althea nodded slightly as she helped Rey review the footage and noticed that the figure didn’t appear just during the time the EMF reader was triggered, but also appeared just a few minutes after they left which Althea pointed out to Rey, “do you see that, dear? That figure also appeared just 10-15 minutes after we left this place. Do you think it was waiting for us to leave?…” Rey looked at what Althea was pointing out and thought about it. “Maybe… I think it didn’t want any company to annoy it, maybe thats why it hid the whole time we were here…. What do you think we should do next?…” Rey and Althea looked at eachother then at Chiffon and Atlas, thinking of their next move…..

I plan to make this a mix of Scooby doo and Ghost busters but I also sort of plan to add horror like stuff between the lines to make it a bit interesting. Basically just making it a Horror-comedy or something lmao
