Trump's response to the air disaster over the Potomac River which he indirectly contributed to is typical. He evades responsibility while spewing outright lies to distract attention.
Trump’s Racist Rants Conceal the Right’s Air Safety Failures
The number of air traffic controllers declined in each year of Trump’s first presidency. Then Trump plunged air traffic controllers (and other federal workers) into uncertainty during the 2018–19 government shutdown, which forced controllers to work without pay—a major blow to their already battered morale. That shutdown only ended, it should be remembered, when enough New York area controllers called in sick to ground flights on the East Coast. The Biden years saw a slow rebuild of controller ranks. But warning signs of a systemic crisis were growing. Training of new controllers was disrupted by the Covid pandemic, and staffing shortages continued. A spate of near-misses led the FAA to convene a unusual “safety summit” on March 23, 2023, to discuss solutions, and the office of Department of Transportation Inspector General Eric J. Soskin completed a 2023 audit that found that 20 of the FAA most critical facilities 26 (77 percent) were below the 85 percent minimum staffing levels and supervisors were mandating overtime and six-day work weeks to cover staff shortages. Biden’s FAA hired 1,811 controllers in 2024, and his 2025 budget sought funding to hire 2,000 more. Trump’s return to the presidency has already been a setback for air safety. He fired DOT Inspector General Soskin, who illuminated the extent of the FAA’s staffing problems. Trump’s White House alter ego Elon Musk succeeded in driving Biden’s FAA administrator, Mike Whitaker, from office even before Trump was sworn in, because Whitaker’s FAA had the temerity to fine SpaceX for safety violations. Musk even went so far as to claim that “humanity will forever be confined to Earth unless there is radical reform at the FAA!” That Trump’s FAA intends radical changes seems clear. Astonishingly, his letter encouraging federal workers to resign their positions and find private sector jobs went to air traffic controllers despite the continued staffing crisis at the nation’s airports. [ ... ] Trump’s “deep state” conspiracy theories and obsession with DEI are doing far graver harm, reducing the right’s anti-government discourse to authoritarian theater and farce. Make no mistake, these recent events are a harbinger of what is to come. Trump’s effort to deflect attention to DEI should not avert our eyes from the larger collision that threatens the very functioning of our government unless we make a course correction.
If you can avoid flying during the next few years, please wait.
A reminder of the true DEI...

Ruth Ben-Ghiat at The New Republic:
“Does fascism intend to restore state authority or subvert it? Is it order or disorder? Can you be conservatives and subversives at the same time?” Six months before the March on Rome in October 1922, when Benito Mussolini was the head of the Fascist Party and its decentralized militia movement, he isolated the contradictions at the heart of fascism that remain fundamental to authoritarianism today. During his 21 years in power, 18 of them as dictator, Il Duce framed fascism as a revolution of reaction against the left, against liberal democracy, and against any group that threatened the survival of white Christian civilization. Carrying out a violent destabilization of society in the name of a return to social order and national tradition, fascism pioneered the autocratic formula in use today of disenfranchising and repressing the many to allow the few to exploit the workforce, women’s bodies, the environment, and the economy.
Trumpism is in this tradition. It started in 2015 as a movement fueled by conservative alarm and white rural rage at a multiracial and progressive America. It continued as an authoritarian presidency envisioned as “a shock to the system” that unleashed waves of hate crimes against nonwhites and non-Christians. It culminated in the January 6 assault on the Capitol, which was a counterrevolutionary operation in the spirit of fascism. Its goal in deploying violence was not just to keep Donald Trump in office, but to prevent the representatives of social and racial progress from taking power.
PROJECT 2025 AS COUNTERREVOLUTION
The fascists believed that you have to destroy to create, and this is what a second Trump administration would do. Project 2025 is a plan for an authoritarian takeover of the United States that goes by a deceptively neutral name. It preserves Trumpism’s original radical intent in its goals to “[d]ismantle the administrative state” and “decentralize and privatize as much as possible,” allowing the American people to “live freely.” “[T]he Trump administration, with the best of intentions, simply got a slow start,” Heritage Foundation head Kevin Roberts told The New York Times in January. “And Heritage and our allies in Project 2025 believe that must never be repeated.” The solution to this “slow start”—code for the restraints imposed by operating in a democracy—is counterrevolution.
The plan promises the abolition of the Department of Education and other federal agencies. The intent here is to destroy the legal and governance cultures of liberal democracy and create new bureaucratic structures, staffed by new politically vetted cadres, to support autocratic rule. So new agencies could appear to manage parents’ and family rights, Christian affairs, and other pillars of the new order. The Department of Health and Human Services is poised to have a central role in governance, given the priorities Trumpism places on policing sexuality, weaponizing motherhood, persecuting transgender people and LGBTQ communities, and criminalizing abortion.
During Trump’s presidency, far-right Roman Catholic attorney Roger Severino headed the Office of Civil Rights in the Department of Health and Human Services, transforming it into an office that prioritized the protection of the rights of white Christians and the “natural family.” During his tenure, the department banned the use of the words “fetus” and “transgender” in government communications and made other moves long embraced by evangelical Christians and their far-right allies in politics. In the future, this office could be elevated into an autonomous entity. Appropriating civil rights for white Christians furthers the Trumpist goal of delegitimizing the cause of racial equality while also making Christian nationalism a core value of domestic policy. Doing away with the separation of church and state is the goal of many architects of Trumpism, from Project 2025 contributor Russ Vought to far-right proselytizer Michael Flynn, who uses the idea of “spiritual war” as counterrevolutionary fuel.
Even if the Department of Education is abolished, some other entity would appear to take its place, since it is unlikely that the task of undoing liberal democratic models of pedagogy would be left entirely to individual states. Not everyone will be able to homeschool their children—the preferred extremist option, since it removes children from exposure to the multifaith and multiracial environments of public schools. It is not so far-fetched to imagine the special Bible Trump has been hawking, which includes the Constitution, the Declaration of Independence, and the Pledge of Allegiance, as a required text in a Christian nationalist curriculum.
Mussolini kicked off his counterrevolutionary police state in the 1920s with new “public security” laws that justified the arrest of anyone deemed a security threat—meaning anyone who opposed fascism from a liberal democratic or leftist point of view. Trump’s assertion a century later that “people within our country” pose “the greatest threat” to the United States, and his desire to “root [them] out,” could translate into counterterror and counterinsurgency operations. These would require a recasting or expansion of existing federal and state security agencies—for example, if the National Guard is federalized or the promised mass deportations of undocumented immigrants come into being.
[...]
Personalist leaders organize government institutions around their self-preservation. Their private interests and needs shape party politics, legislative action, and national policy, just as their relationships with foreign autocrats influence foreign affairs. Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, who served as the translator of Vladimir Putin’s views and desires in Europe for a decade, was able to personalize Italy’s foreign policy. He excluded Italian diplomats from meetings with Putin, allowing only his private translator-envoy, Valentino Valentini, to be present. An Italian parliamentary investigation later revealed that Berlusconi would have received a kickback from the profits of a planned Italy-and-Russia-built South Stream pipeline. Trump holds a similarly proprietary vision of governance, which is why classified national security documents ended up in the bathroom of his private residence in Florida. Like most autocrats, Trump sees holding public office as a means of personal enrichment.
Ruth Ben-Ghiat wrote in The New Republic as part of their American Fascism series about the right-wing fascist counterrevolution that is brewing in America, and if Trump wins again, America will be headed down the same path as Hungary, Russia, El Salvador, and Turkey.

Since well before the COVID-19 pandemic, public school districts in cities like Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, and Boston have experienced student enrollment declines. For instance, Chicago Public Schools (CPS) has lost more than 100,000 students in the last 20 years due to factors such as declining birth rates, declining in-migration from Mexico, and the departure of Black families from the city. About one-third of schools in CPS now enroll fewer than half the number of students they were built to serve.
These declines have financial and educational consequences. School funding typically follows student enrollment, so as budgets shrink, fixed staffing and maintenance costs consume an increasing share of funds that could otherwise be allocated to improve student learning. Schools with fewer students might also have difficulty offering tutoring, summer and after-school programs, electives, and extracurricular activities that often require a minimum number of students to launch. Shifting from student-based to school-based funding—as CPS plans to do in the coming year—could mitigate some of these challenges. Inevitably, though, city and district leaders will soon face difficult choices.
In principle, the problem of under-enrolled schools seems amenable to a straightforward solution: close some school buildings. Doing so saves money, allowing these districts to invest more resources more efficiently. In practice, it’s not nearly so easy. Plans to close schools consistently meet heavy resistance from residents of the affected neighborhoods, frequently resulting in backtracking by district leaders. The under-enrollment problem is as much a political problem as it is a fiscal one. Maybe, therefore, it requires a political solution in the form of better democratic practices.

Nurse Burnout...
Tumblr media
A growing number of nurses are walking away from the profession, The New York Times writes. [GO READ THIS ARTICLE]  It's a result of burnout that spiked with the pandemic: some 57% of nurses now report feeling exhausted, while 43% are considering leaving the field. The departure of experienced nurses means there are fewer opportunities for students to get essential in-hospital training, in turn exacerbating hospitals' staffing problems. To address this crisis, the president of the American Nurses Association says hospitals must monitor and act on nurses’ stress levels, for one, and “change the glorification of working without breaks.”
Nurses are the backbone of healthcare and society cannot afford to continue break our nurses. Three actions to alleviate the shortage are: 1) Implement state and federal policies for safe staffing and nurse to patient ratios or have private hospitals boards and upper management to DIRECTLY get involved and stop expecting mid and low level management to resolve these massive areas of burnout. 2) Include an equal representative percentage of nurses at the table when a) developing a plan of action, b) addressing health systems boards, c) public health and policy development, and 3) Encourage professional development -  through further education or hospital / work professional development The mental, physical, and emotional job description are critical to develop solutions for our nurses to both thrive and feel safe in their roles.
Tumblr media
Burnout is real!
Emotions are raw and fully exposed!
Don’t blame the nurses if they snap in front of you...
People don’t know or realize how long they’ve been on duty or how many shifts they’ve worked.
Tumblr media
Keeping it real...
Just this Passionate Man’s opinion.

Affordable and Convenient: Long Island Direct Cremation Services
Affordable and Convenient: Long Island Direct Cremation Services
In recent years, the popularity of cremation as an alternative to traditional burial has been steadily increasing. Long Island residents are no exception, seeking affordable and convenient options that align with their preferences. Direct cremation services on Long Island have emerged as a practical choice, offering an economical and straightforward way to handle the final arrangements for a loved one. Let’s explore direct cremation services, affordable options, and crematory services available on Long Island, New York.
Direct Cremation: A Practical Choice
Direct cremation is a simple and cost-effective alternative to traditional burial. It involves the cremation of the deceased without a prior funeral service or viewing. Many individuals and families are opting for direct cremation for various reasons, including cost savings and a desire for a more flexible memorialization process.
Tumblr media
Affordable Cremation Services
The affordability of direct cremation services is a significant factor in its growing popularity on Long Island. Traditional funerals can be expensive, often involving costs related to embalming, caskets, viewing, and ceremonies. Direct cremation, on the other hand, eliminates many of these expenses, making it a budget-friendly choice for families.
By choosing affordable cremation services, families can focus on the essentials and plan for a more personalized memorial or celebration of life at a later date. The reduced financial burden allows them to allocate resources for other aspects, such as creating a meaningful tribute to the departed.
Crematory Services
Crematory services are a crucial component of the direct cremation process. On Long Island, New York, several reputable crematories offer their services to families who have chosen direct cremation for their loved ones, including Jerusalem Memorial Chapels. These facilities are equipped with the necessary equipment and staffed by professionals trained in handling cremations with the utmost care and respect.
Choosing a local crematory service can offer families peace of mind, knowing that their loved one's remains will be treated with the dignity and reverence they deserve. Families can also inquire about the process, visit the facility, or participate in a brief service if they wish.
The Flexibility of Direct Cremation
One of the advantages of direct cremation is its flexibility. After the cremation is complete, families have the option to hold a memorial service at a time and place of their choosing. This flexibility allows for more personalized and meaningful tributes, from intimate gatherings with close family to larger commemorative events.
Direct cremation also provides the opportunity to scatter the ashes in a location of significance to the deceased or keep them in an urn at home. Families can take their time to decide on the most fitting way to remember their loved one.
Direct cremation services offer an affordable and practical solution for families seeking an alternative to traditional burial. With the option to plan a personalized memorial at their own pace, direct cremation aligns with the preferences of many Long Island residents.
Crematory services ensure that the process is carried out with care and respect. As the popularity of direct cremation continues to rise, these services remain a valuable choice for those looking for simplicity and affordability in their final arrangements.

Carmen Rodriguez, 31 (USA 1970)
New York legalized abortion before Roe v. Wade, killing many women and young girls along with their unborn babies. One of these pre-Roe v. Wade legal fatalities was Carmen Rodriguez.
Tumblr media
31-year-old Carmen Rodriguez underwent a 14-week legal abortion in New York. Lincoln Hospital used the saline method, which chemically burns an unborn human alive by filling the amniotic sac with a dangerous high-concentration salt solution. Then labor would be induced to remove the corpse from Carmen’s uterus.
Carmen had a medical history of rheumatic heart disease, but she had given birth twice before and been fine. There was no evidence that a third birth would have had a different result. Saline abortion, on the other hand, had long been documented as potentially causing heart-damaging electrolyte imbalances—even in a perfectly healthy person. It was reckless and negligent to attempt a saline abortion on a person with a chronic heart condition.
Like so many before and after her, Carmen was killed by her legal abortion. The saline entered her bloodstream and caused acute pulmonary edema. During the abortion, Carmen was observed as having trouble breathing. It was later discovered that Carmen’s heart condition was not noted on her chart and that somebody had assumed her respiratory problems were from an asthma attack. (Carmen did not even have asthma and a simple glance at her medical history would have shown that.) The treatment administered was appropriate for an asthmatic patient but could be lethal to a patient with a heart condition. This made the already-dying Carmen even worse.
Carmen slipped into a coma and soon died on July 19, 1970. Her husband and two surviving children were left to mourn the loss of two family members.
Tumblr media
After Carmen was killed, a Puerto Rican activist group called the Young Lords sprang into action. They spread Carmen’s story far and wide, pointing out that the staff of Lincoln Hospital were warned that Carmen had heart problems and failed to take proper precautions.
The Young Lords distributed leaflets near Lincoln Hospital, denouncing Carmen’s death as murder. The group also occupied an administration building connected with the hospital for 12 hours, denouncing the hospital as “a butcher shop that kills patients.”
The Young Lords weren’t the only ones alarmed over the amount of women killed by legalized abortion. New York City Chief Medical Examiner Milton Helpern expressed fears that ill-equipped and poorly-staffed freestanding legal abortion facilities were posing a danger to women. (Of course, abortion was still unsafe when done in a hospital, but facilities specifically existing for abortion were even worse.)
But supporters of abortion didn’t seem to care about the preventable deaths of women and girls. Merle Goldman, who was the spokesperson for a pro-abortion organization, still insisted that abortion was safe and stressed that the group was publicly lobbying against proposed health department regulation of abortion practice.
Carmen was not the first mother or the last to be killed by legalized abortion in New York. Others included but were not limited to Pearl Schwier, Barbara Riley, Maria Ortega, Margaret Smith, Carole Schaner, Pamala Modugno, Lisa Marie Hoefener and at least 19 “Jane Roes” (unidentified women and girls) who had fallen for the “safe and legal” abortion lie between New York’s early legalization of abortion and Roe v. Wade.
Abortion supporters tend to bring up the maternal deaths from abortion before Roe v. Wade. They typically don’t know or don’t want to admit how many of these deaths were from fully legal abortion.

When poor tenants were faced with the decay of their buildings and the disruption of services as the abandonment rate accelerated during the late 1960s, some, rather than suffering in silence until the situation became unbearable and then moving, turned to the central strategy of the tenant movement, the rent strike. However, many of those facing incipient abandonment did not achieve the results they hoped for from the withholding of their rents: rather than giving them the leverage to persuade their landlord to improve their living conditions, this strategy often hastened his exit, leaving the tenants still cold in winter but with a large collective bank account. By 1969-1970 some building organizations were responding pragmatically to this situation by spending the rents they had collected to buy oil and make urgent repairs. However, since the experienced leaders of tenant organizations -- notably those associated with Met Council -- initially regarded such tenant seizures of de facto control as too risky, this strategy was not fostered or publicized at that time. Later, as experience in these isolated buildings taught movement leaders that tenants were not, through this strategy, inviting eviction, its use spread rapidly until, by the mid-1970s, it was the most common form of rent strike.
Meanwhile, several activist professionals -- priests and lawyers -- had suggested that one solution to the abandonment problem was to cede abandoned buildings to their tenants, thus creating low-income cooperatives. They raised the hope that owner occupancy could reverse decay and even curb the prevailing civil unrest by giving the poor and alienated a stake in the system. Some of these professionals, each originally acting in isolation, took the initiative in putting these ideas into action. The first low-income conversion to tenant ownership was initiated by a Harlem church in 1963; the second, sponsored by a lawyer, commenced in 1967; others followed rapidly. At this point the concept attracted the attention of the city administration, and in mid-1969 Jason Nathan, HDA administrator, created an exploratory cooperative unit within the Office of Special Improvements (OSI) and staffed it with eight college interns -- but gave them no resources, budget, or support staff.
In February 1970 Robert Schur, a West Side lawyer who had been prominent in promoting the plan, was appointed head of OSI and, having secured the promise of a budget for the purpose, pledged to get a co-op program off the ground. Schur utilized the Municipal Loan Program, which had been designed by the city to help landlords rehabilitate their buildings, and the federal Model Cities Program, to provide loans to tenants for the purchase and rehabilitation of deteriorated buildings. This cost was to be paid off, at low or no interest, by the new tenant cooperators. The extent of rehabilitation was usually curtailed -- "moderate" rather than "gut" -- in order to limit costs and typically was restricted to the "major systems" -- plumbing, wiring, heating, the front door, and roof. All the co-ops were required by the city to incorporate as Housing Development Fund corporations, which imposed income limitations. However, the majority did not take the second step of registering with the attorney general as formal cooperatives and thus avoided the costs of issuing a plan/prospectus and of allocating shares. Content to remain informal co-ops, they granted all tenant cooperators an equal vote at meetings. With Schur, able and committed, in command of an enthusiastic staff, the flow of would-be co-ops in the pipeline strengthened considerably.

The Role and Benefits of Staffing Agencies A Guide to Tempwork247 in Manhattan, NY
In today’s fast-paced business world, companies are constantly on the lookout for ways to optimize their workforce and meet staffing needs efficiently. One of the most effective solutions for businesses of all sizes is partnering with a staffing agency. These agencies specialize in finding the right talent for companies across a variety of industries, ensuring both employers and employees benefit from the arrangement. In this article, we will explore the concept of staffing agencies, specifically focusing on Tempwork247, a leading Staffing & Employment Agency Manhattan NY, and how such agencies can help businesses and job seekers in New York.
What is a Staffing Agency?
A staffing agency acts as a middleman between employers and potential employees. The agency takes on the task of recruiting, screening, and hiring candidates on behalf of businesses, and in turn, the candidates work for the client company. Staffing agencies can provide temporary, permanent, or temp-to-hire placements depending on the needs of the business.
Companies looking to hire quickly or fill specialized roles often turn to staffing agencies to streamline the hiring process. For job seekers, staffing agencies are a great resource to help find new employment opportunities that match their skills, experience, and career goals.
Benefits of Working with a Staffing & Employment Agency in Manhattan, NY
1. Access to a Wide Talent Pool
One of the primary benefits of working with a Staffing & Employment Agency Manhattan NY, such as Tempwork247, is access to a broad network of qualified candidates. Many staffing agencies maintain databases of pre-screened job seekers, which gives employers access to a wide range of potential employees, saving them time and effort.
For job seekers, the benefit is equally significant. Agencies like Tempwork247 can introduce candidates to job opportunities that they may not have found on their own. Whether you're looking for a temporary role, a long-term contract, or a permanent position, staffing agencies help match your skills and preferences with suitable job openings.
2. Speed and Efficiency
When an organization is facing a staffing shortage, time is of the essence. Staffing agencies, especially those in major metropolitan areas like Manhattan, NY, can quickly respond to urgent hiring needs. Tempwork247, for instance, specializes in filling positions promptly, helping businesses reduce downtime and stay productive. Instead of spending weeks sifting through resumes and conducting interviews, employers can rely on the agency to find the right fit in a fraction of the time.
For job seekers, this efficiency also works in their favor. With staffing agencies like Tempwork247 handling the recruitment process, candidates can quickly be matched with appropriate job opportunities, reducing the time they spend searching for work.
3. Expertise in Recruiting and Screening
A staffing agency is comprised of professionals who specialize in identifying and hiring talent. They have the knowledge and resources to assess a candidate’s qualifications thoroughly and match them to job requirements accurately.
Tempwork247, a trusted Staffing & Employment Agency Manhattan NY, offers a high level of expertise in recruiting. The team at Tempwork247 works diligently to evaluate candidates’ skills, experience, and overall suitability for each role. This ensures that companies get the right employees, and job seekers find the best opportunities.
4. Flexibility for Employers and Employees
Staffing agencies offer flexibility for both employers and job seekers. For employers, agencies like Tempwork247 can help fill short-term positions, such as seasonal roles or temporary assignments, without the long-term commitment of hiring permanent employees. Additionally, staffing agencies allow companies to evaluate a candidate's performance before deciding to offer a full-time position, giving them the ability to assess compatibility before making a long-term decision.
For job seekers, staffing agencies provide the flexibility to work in various industries, experiment with different roles, and gain experience in multiple fields. Tempwork247 offers a range of opportunities for individuals to explore their career options and build a diverse skill set, while also allowing for more control over when and where they work.
5. Cost-Effective Hiring Solution
For many businesses, partnering with a staffing agency is a cost-effective hiring solution. Agencies like Tempwork247 handle various aspects of the recruitment process, including advertising job openings, reviewing resumes, conducting interviews, and even managing payroll for temporary workers. This outsourcing reduces the costs and time associated with the hiring process and helps businesses avoid the expense of conducting a lengthy and resource-intensive search on their own.
Job seekers also benefit financially from staffing agencies. Tempwork247 works with companies that offer competitive wages, helping candidates find jobs that meet their salary expectations. Additionally, employees may have access to benefits such as health insurance, paid time off, and other perks, especially in longer-term placements.

Tempwork247’s team is committed to finding the best talent for businesses while ensuring candidates are placed in roles that align with their skills, qualifications, and career goals. Today, many companies are adopting more flexible work models, offering remote work options, and utilizing a mix of full-time and temporary staffing solutions. In this new era of work, staffing agencies like Tempwork247 are evolving to meet the demands of both employers and employees.
In the future, staffing agencies will likely continue to leverage technology and data to match candidates with roles more efficiently. Artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning will play a larger role in streamlining the recruitment process, making it even easier for businesses and job seekers to find the right fit.
Conclusion
A Staffing & Employment Agency Manhattan NY such as Tempwork247 is a valuable partner for both businesses and job seekers.
