ab kal ke match ka heartfelt ramble ka waqt aaya hai honestly there's sm energy in me and it has to go somewhere, I'm gonna start off with the tournament as a whole, because some teams like Afghanistan and South Africa do deserve their appreciation as well. They both managed to do what their own teams before then failed to- playing a final and semi-final is a feat worth achieving ✨🙌🏻 and they managed to do it. We saw some good old West Indies back and that brought back a sense of childhood who had seen the likes of DJ Bravo and Chris Gayle play. Now as a fellow indian, seeing the Australian being defeated by Afghanistan and then later us 🥳 only to pin down their hope on Bangladesh- IT FELT SO SURREAL, LIKE YES BITCH CUMMINS THAT'S WHAT YOU GET FOR BEING SO RUDE (and 19 Nov ka badla hum toh Aussies se bohot baar lenge, with dugna lagaan)
Ind vs Eng, was the ultimate banger for me, the whole transition from a 10 wicket loss to 10 wicket haul was just amazing!! And sometimes we Indians forget the essence of our own bowlers in our team, but this wc was all about bowlers (ours and other countries)- after the ipl bashing, this entire month must have felt so hopeful to them. We got so many players like Bumrah, Maharaja, Rashid Khan, Naveen-ul-Haq defending low scoring matches- these matches that kept us as audience on edge. What a beautiful time to be a skilled bowler!
Now coming to yesterday, as a person that had nothing against South Africa as such but only had love for India- I deeply feel sorrow for your loss. I guess, we Indians know better than anyone how it feels to win all matches and then lose the final. I believe, your captain Markram is gonna do the magic our Rohit Sharma did last night. You just have to believe in him!
And to my beautiful Men in Blue- kal toh dil jeet liya 🥹🙌🏻 Everyone had been so worked up in the entire tournament. All of 11 players deserved the world cup, especially those that had played the 19 Nov. Last night's match was taking my breath away every over, it was so suspenseful and thriller and in the words of Sidhu "yeh match nazuk dil walo ke liye nahi hai" and it definitely wasn't and Bapu tumne toh humari jaan leli kal with that over (jeet mei sab maaf hai) but thank you Sky for taking the catch which people will talk about 10 years from now and thank you Hardik for not breaking our trust in that last over (Rohit did kiss you on behalf of 1.5 billion people yesterday 😚) but more than thank you to Captain that ended the trophy draught and thank you to the Coaches! ❤️
To Rahul Dravid, who was so intense yesterday- Indiranagar ka gunda jag gaya kal full 🥹😂 but thank you so much for making us what we are!! We are going to miss you so much 🫂🥹 and to Rohit and Kohli, we aren't sure if t20i will ever be same without you.
to the indian cricket team, WE ARE SO FUCKING PROUD OF YOU!! 💙🇮🇳

Been meaning to talk about this for a few days, but holy fuck, what a week for women's sport.
(Before we get started: INR 1 lakh is about £1,000. INR 1 crore is about £100,000)
The Board of Control for Cricket in India have finally got behind the growth in women's cricket and are launching the inaugural Women's Indian Premier League this year and the player's auction was held last Monday.
The 5 franchises were each given a salary cap of about £1.6m to build a squad of 15-18 players by buidding for their services. So £8m to be spread among around 90 players.
Reserve prices began at 10 lakh rupees and were capped at 50 and while some players didn't generate much interest (for example, Royal Challengers Bangalore got a big bargain by securing the Australian bowler, Megan Schutt at her reserve price of 40 lakh, and Alyssa Healy only went for 70 lakh) a few made bank.
Mandhana cost RCB 28% of their cap. No other player in either the men's or women's IPL takes up as much of their team's cap as her. It's also nearly 7 times the value of her central contract with the BCCI to play for India and vastly more than the £30k she gets playing in the gimmicky Hundred tournament in England.
It's a fresh tournament and the teams need stars to act as faces of the franchise. And so, in places they've mirrored the men's game. Mandhana, India's best batter and who wears 18, joined RCB, whose men's team have Virat Kohli, who also wears 18. (They also signed Ellyse Perry for 1.7 crore and the destructive Richa Ghosh for 1.9 crore). Harmanpreet Kaur, India's captain, got 1.8 crore from Mumbai, whose men's team feature Rohit Sharma, who is also India's captain.
These prices are for a tournament that begins on March 4 and ends on March 26. Three weeks. 8 to 10 games. Pro-rata, the top women are getting paid like footballers (and even those whose salaries are counted in lakh are getting healthy paydays).
This tournament will be successful. The BCCI wouldn't be doing it if it wasn't going to be. And it will grow. Lots of talented foreign players fell victim to squad building restrictions and went unsold. The league will expand. Maybe to 6 teams, before eventually ending up with 8.
All that's holding it back is how quickly talented Indian players are identified and their skills develop. The cash the BCCI generate from this will supercharge that search. The top players already have access to top coaches and training facilities, but for some, the 10 or 20 lakh they get from this tournament will help them build a future and lifestyle as professional cricketers and generate opportunities for others, which in turn will allow the BCCI to expand the tournament.
Within 10 years, I'd be surprised if the WIPL isn't the biggest women's sports league on the planet.

"Don't Think I Would Retain Any Players": Australia Big Advice To The IPL Team
Tom Moody, a former Australian cricketer, feels that the Punjab Kings should not keep any capped players ahead of the IPL 2025 auction. While there have been indications that PBKS is contemplating Arshdeep Singh as their lone retention, Moody believes the franchise could look into using the right-to-match option for cricketers such as Arshdeep, Sam Curran, and Kagiso Rabada. Player who beat Jasprit Bumrah made his T20 debut, scoring runs at a strike rate of 234 in IPL
Jasprit Bumrah, known as one of the best bowlers in the world, has a reputation for being nearly impossible to score against. His pace and swing have troubled some of the greatest batsmen in cricket. Bumrah played a key role in India’s victory in the T20 World Cup 2024, even earning the title of Player of the Tournament. Despite his incredible form, a young Australian batsman named Jake…

i have not seen those edits! i don't use social media much outside of tumblr really so i miss a lot 😅
Actually, now I think you might be geo-blocked 🤐🙂
The edits arose after and at the same time of all the 'silence' memes on him. Right after OdiWc and continued till IPL finals. After aus got out of T20wc, they died down, I guess. I didn't have insta during that time so don't know but now I don't see those edits much anymore.
I'll send you a couple of links after I reinstall insta (:

Also, idk if you're aware of this or not. In India, they call Head a bull who only charges when he sees "blue" 🤣. And that he's firing up in the MLC (5 consecutive 50s) cause they had the guts to make him wear blue. It's so absurd that it's funny.
lmao they might be blocked for me actually yeah 😢
that's really funny 😭 especially to me because part of me still thinks of heady as a strikers player not an australian player - like he's a blue boy in my head!!

Usman Khawaja Backs Glenn Maxwell for T20 World Cup Impact Despite IPL Form
Despite Glenn Maxwell’s recent struggles in the Indian Premier League (IPL), Australian cricketer Usman Khawaja is confident in Maxwell’s ability to shine in the upcoming T20 World Cup. Khawaja believes Maxwell’s form in the IPL is irrelevant when it comes to his performance for the national team.
IPL Form Doesn’t Matter
In a conversation with the West Australian, Khawaja emphasized Maxwell’s proven track record: “The IPL form is absolutely irrelevant. Maxy’s proven himself time and time again. Any player who’s performed over a long period understands that you can’t perform well every time you go out there.”
Khawaja pointed out that T20 cricket, especially for middle-order batsmen, is challenging and that Maxwell just needs one good innings to regain his confidence: “If he gets one good innings, he’s away. It doesn’t matter what’s happened in the past. He’s not going to change his game and nor should he. Just keep going. He’ll find it.”
Maxwell’s IPL Performance
Maxwell had a tough IPL season, averaging only 5.77 from nine innings and scoring just 52 runs in 10 matches. His team, Royal Challengers Bangalore, was eliminated by the Rajasthan Royals in the Eliminator, with Maxwell scoring a duck in that crucial game.
Players on a Break
Currently, Maxwell is on a break along with Pat Cummins, Travis Head, Marcus Stoinis, Mitchell Starc, and Cameron Green after the grueling IPL schedule. These players are set to join the national team for the T20 World Cup.
Australian Team Preparations
In preparation for the T20 World Cup, the Australian team had to improvise during a warm-up match against Namibia due to the absence of key players. Selection chief George Bailey and fielding coach Andre Borovec stepped in to help, along with batting coach Brad Hodge and head coach Andrew McDonald.
Despite these challenges, the Australian team, the 2021 T20 World Cup champions, showcased their strength by chasing down Namibia’s total of 119/9 with 10 overs remaining, thanks to a quickfire half-century from David Warner (54*).
Upcoming Matches
Australia’s next warm-up match is against the West Indies on May 31. The team will begin their T20 World Cup campaign on June 6 against Oman, followed by matches against archrivals England on June 9, Namibia on June 12, and Scotland to finish the group stage.

David Warner's IPL Journey: Elevating Cricket to Another Level
David Warner, the Australian cricket sensation, has found more than just fame on Indian soil; he’s discovered a profound appreciation for the organized chaos that defines cricket in India. In a recent conversation with Ravichandran Ashwin on the latter’s YouTube channel, Warner delved into the unique aspects of cricket in India that have shaped his career.
For Warner, the IPL isn’t just a tournament; it’s a transformative experience. He marvels at the abundance of net bowlers available during IPL practice sessions, a luxury rarely afforded in Australia. The opportunity to face a variety of bowling styles, from left-arm spin to fast bowlers, has been instrumental in honing his skills and stamina.
But it’s not just the abundance of resources that captivates Warner; it’s the ability to practice on the center square, gaining an intimate understanding of stadium dimensions and pitch conditions. Warner reminisces about his time in Hyderabad, where he dedicated hours to facing spin bowling and mastering shot selection, a practice regimen that elevated his game to another level.
Moreover, Warner acknowledges the IPL’s role in Australia’s triumph at the Cricket World Cup in India. Drawing on his extensive experience in the IPL, Warner highlights the strategic advantages gained from understanding Indian pitches and venues. From reading different soil types to anticipating pitch behavior, the IPL provided invaluable insights that proved decisive in Australia’s victory.
In essence, David Warner’s IPL journey is a testament to the symbiotic relationship between cricket and culture in India. It’s a story of growth, adaptation, and triumph, illustrating how the IPL has not only elevated individual players but also transformed the global landscape of cricket.

IPL 2024: ‘The Impact Player Rule Changes Things A Fair Bit For Bowlers’ Feels Mitchell Starc
The Impact Player: Kolkata Knight Riders pacer Mitchell Starc feels ‘Impact Player rule changes things a fair bit’ for the bowler in the IPL 2024 after the star pacer claimed a four-fer to guide Kolkata Knight Riders to 24-runs victory over Mumbai at Wankhede Stadium after 12 years. The Australian pacer entered the tournament with a weight of expectations on his shoulders, having been the most expensive pick ever at an IPL auction. However, his performance on the field didn't quite match the anticipation initially. Starc had just seven wickets and an economy of 11.78 in his first eight outings, and had conceded more than 50 three times. On Friday, he bounced back with 4 for 33 in Kolkata Knight Riders' 24-run win over Mumbai Indians, and said the Impact Player rule has made things easy a bit for the bowlers. “The Impact Player rule changes things a fair bit," Starc said at the press conference. "Everyone gets to bat a lot deeper having a batting and a bowling XI. There's a lot made of that rule throughout the tournament and there's been a lot of high scores, which is the nature of the wickets and the grounds we play on here. When you have batters and batting allrounders come in at Nos. 8 or 9, it's a long batting line-up.” “There's no fear in the powerplay when all you have to do is to clear the infield and score runs. Certainly, there has been some really good batting, don't get me wrong, it's not just the rules that play a part there. There's been some fantastic scoring, some fantastic partnerships and some individual brilliance with the bat,” he added. With a stellar performance against MI on Friday night, Starc not only silenced his critics but also showcased his resilience and determination. His four-wicket haul played a pivotal role in Kolkata Knight Riders' victory, proving his worth in the team. Reflecting on his turnaround, Starc emphasized the importance of adapting to the conditions and strategizing accordingly. "I haven't changed too much," he said. "It's about assessing conditions after the first innings. We certainly spoke about it and the batters that came off throughout that first innings mentioned the wicket and the lengths that were the hardest to face. That created the bowling plans for us. “As T20 cricket doesn't always go the way you want it to go, and of course I wanted to go a bit better at the start. But I am not the only bowler going for runs. It is what it is. The fact that we sit second and are building towards the more important games at the back end and are playing some good cricket, hopefully I can be a part of it too.” Looking ahead, Starc remained unfazed by the impending T20 World Cup, expressing confidence in his ability to manage his workload effectively. With his focus firmly set on contributing to KKR's success in the IPL, he viewed the tournament as valuable preparation for the international stage. It's T20 cricket, it's not as demanding as Test match cricket," he said. "Physically it is not a problem and it's fantastic lead-in to play here in the best T20 league in the world. You're playing some high-quality cricket leading into the World Cup, a lot of players at this tournament are going to be at the World Cup. "In that regard, it's a great thing to see and test your skills. In terms of length of time, that's part and parcel of international cricket. My main focus is to play in Lucknow in two days' time. The World Cup is next month - at this moment, it's trying to help KKR win the tournament.” Starc expects the T20 World Cup to provide a more even contest between bat and ball, unlike the IPL where totals of over 200 have been commonplace. “There's no Impact Player rule , so whether that affects the scores is yet to be seen. I think it probably will. People talk about the balance of the team when you can't just bring someone in. Your allrounders come back into play. Captains have to think a bit tactically, too, when you have just 11 players. It's been interesting to experience it first-hand in the IPL.” Amidst his individual achievements, Starc commended the camaraderie within the KKR camp, particularly highlighting the young fast bowlers in the squad. Harshit Rana played all games before his one-match suspension and has taken 11 wickets at an economy of 9.78. Vaibhav Arora has picked up nine wickets in six outings at 9.42. Despite his experience, he approached his interactions with humility, aiming to lead by example and foster a supportive environment within the team. "I am a bit more experienced and a bit older, at the same time I haven't played a lot of T20 cricket," Starc said of his interactions with them. " working off each other in a way. "I am certainly not there to tell people what to do, I am happy to answer questions if they have or look to lead more by example at training and get my work in. We are a pretty good group, the whole group of players and staff is awesome to be around. "I would like to think I am approachable, so happy to train with the boys. I was training with Harshit Rana the other night, made him run extra which he wasn't happy about (laughs). But no, it's a great group and a lot of time we have a lot of fun.” Read the full article

Travis Head’s 32-ball 89 takes Hyderabad to 67-run win over Delhi
Travis Head's dazzling knock of 89 runs off only 32 balls impelled Sunrisers Hyderabad to a monstrous all out of 266-7 against Delhi Capitals, getting a direct 67-run triumph in the Indian Chief Association (IPL) conflict on Saturday.
Hyderabad, known for their dangerous batting this season, displayed their strength indeed, taking steps to break records at Delhi's Arun Jaitley Arena.
Delhi Capitals were bowled out for 199 in 19.1 overs, with T Natarajan featuring with noteworthy figures of 4-19. Hyderabad's success has now taken them to the second spot in the IPL standings, with five successes in seven matches.
Winning the throw, Delhi's commander Rishabh Gasp chose for field first, anticipating batting-accommodating circumstances.
Head stayed the legend after he impacted a 16-ball 50 in a dangerous opening stand with individual left-hander Abhishek Sharma to attack the resistance assault as Hyderabad arrived at 100 out of five overs and 125 of every six.
"On somewhat of a roll there," Head said of his structure after he came in just short of the leader in the batting graph with 324 runs including a really long period and two fifties. "Charming, young men are having some fantastic luck."
He said: "When you're in great structure, attempting to keep it basic. Responding to the ball."
Head and Sharma hit 12 sixes between them as the innings saw a joint IPL record of 22 hit over the wall and Hyderabad equalled their work from the past match when they crushed 287-3 in a success over Imperial Challengers Bengaluru early this week.
The initial organization among Head and Abhishek Sharma saw a whirlwind of limits and sizes, with the team hitting a consolidated total of 12 sixes, equalling an IPL record. Notwithstanding, left-arm spinner Kuldeep Yadav figured out how to break the organization by asserting two speedy wickets in the seventh over.
Regardless of the misfortunes, Shahbaz Ahmed played an essential innings, scoring an unbeaten 59 off 29 balls, to push Hyderabad to an imposing aggregate.
Delhi, accordingly, battled to stay aware of the necessary run rate all through their innings. Notwithstanding remarkable commitments from players like Jake Fraser-McGurk and Rishabh Gasp, Delhi missed the mark, getting bowled out for 199 in 19.1 overs.
Washington Sundar came in as the effect player instead of Head as Hyderabad added a spinner to protect the aggregate. Sundar opened the bowling and was hit for four straight boundaries by Prithvi Shaw, who was Delhi's effective player, yet pursued his retribution on the fifth when he excused the opener for 16.
David Warner tumbled to Bhuvneshwar Kumar for one preceding exceptional Australian batsman Jake Fraser-McGurk smacked a 18-ball 65 and put on 84 runs with Abishek Porel, who hit 42.
Leg-spinner Mayank Markande excused the pair and the remainder of the batting neglected to satisfy the test regardless of Gasp's 44.
"I think powerplay was the distinction," expressed Gasp after the game.
