That was true, but it had taken her forever just to be accepted by this label. But they also had to take into consideration the contract they were still under. The idea of potentially being sued by their label didn't exactly sit well with her either. "I know," she said with a nod. "I mean, you're right. The longer we let this go on, the more ridiculous this'll end up being." Veronica frowned and plopped down onto the bed beside her girlfriend. She turned towards her, grabbing her hands. "So what should we do? What do you want to do?"
edith groaned and sat down on the bed, frustrated beyond belief. "i mean, they a-aren't the only la-label, v." edith said and sighed. "i l-love performing, and i-i adore doing i-it with you, but i don't w-want to h-hide forever." edith explained and looked up at her. "when will w-w-we say no? when they h-hire us some b-beards? when w-we c-cannot have kids, b-because that doesn't f-fit the image? i d-don't know i-if i want to ma-make that s-sacrifice." she admitted.

Sometimes she wondered if she was playing with fire. Stardom had meant a lot to her, all the word she'd done to get to this point, and yet here she was risking it all because of a girl. But then again, it wasn't as if Edith was just any girl to her. "Hmm. Sounds like we have a predicament on our hands then," she chuckled. Veronica smiled into the kiss, hands pulling at her hips to pull the woman in close. When they broke apart, she glanced up at her girlfriend through her lashes. A contented sigh left her lips, before her smile tinged with a hint of sadness. "I wish we didn't have to hide that we're together."
edith could never look away from her duet partner when they were in rehearsals. it was even more difficult in performances when veronica was in gorgeous, sometimes revealing outfits. she stuck with pretty dresses and things that kept her covered mostly. she too didn't much care about how they looked at rehearsals. then, edith sang the song about a boy to her girlfriend, even if no one wanted them to be together.
she giggled as veronica dragged her off stage, into her dressing room and she wrapped her arms around veronica's neck, grinning like a fool. "i w-won't turn d-down my cute if you w-won't either." she told her. "i don't know h-how i'm going to keep from looking a-at you tonight on st-stage." she admitted, leaning in to kiss her softly.

It didn't make sense to her. What was she supposed to do? Remain single forever just to be marketable? Some generic Mary Sue for girls to project themselves onto? Even if she wasn't in love with Edith, it didn't sound like they wanted her to have a life outside of her music. It wasn't fair. "Well they did," she groaned back. Veronica brushed her hair back, pulling it into a loose ponytail. "What are we supposed to do? Do we go against them? What... What if they drop us or something?"
they did as they agreed and went to talk with pr... who completely obliterated the idea that a coming out was in any way possible in the near future. edith was furious. she wanted a path toward being open and so, she was fighting mad when they ended up in veronica's hotel room. they could easily share a room, but in order to avoid 'gay rumors' they always had separate ones. "i am s-s-so mad!" she whirled around at veronica. "they c-can't just de-decide that we h-have to stay in the cl-clostet!" she exclaimed.

Veronica nodded, pressing a soft kiss against Edith's lips. "You're right," she said, smiling as she pulled back. With her girlfriend's reassurance, she felt better about it. As long as Edith was by her side, she could get through anything. They could get through this together, regardless if management wanted it or not. "I'm so glad I have you." She didn't want to imagine what her life would've been like if they hadn't met, hadn't been paired together, or discovered their feelings for one another.
"i thi-think we can try." edith spoke with a small shrug. "and i-i-in the end, we c-can always make our o-own decisions, if they ne-never change their m-minds." she told her. she loved being successful, but she wasn't as interested in fame. she loved the music, she loved making people happy but she was never looking to be a megastar, at all. as long as she could make a comfortable living, she was fine.

"You think so?" she asked, trying not to be too hopeful about the situation. It wasn't as if when they were first found out, they were openly celebrated by them. Sometimes it had Veronica concerned that if they weren't a success, their label would've tried dropping them. Her gaze softened. "More than this would be nice... Not that you aren't enough for me, but yeah..."
edith looked at her girlfriend and felt the same sadness flood her chest. she'd often wondered how they'd make their exit out of the closet. they were in a pop-country genre that wasn't super conservative but also had a small conservative fan base. she wondered just how big the risk was of coming out nowadays. "you know, m-m-maybe... we can discuss it a-a-again, with man-management, a timeline for c-coming out? we can't keep hi-hiding forever, at some point we'll w-want more than this, n-no?" she wondered, not sure if the other shared her point of view.
