New Quirk Name: Personify

This Emitter type Quirk allows the user to command objects with their voice up to a ten meter range of themselves. This effect does enhance the objects to a limited degree, giving them greater flexibility and physical ability. This can target dozens of items, all following the user's orders. For example, the user could make a kitchen knife jump up and stab someone, cutting right through armor they have had. This gives the user a good mix of options, turning whatever is around them into a worthwhile fighting force under their command. They can lay them around as traps, turn random trash into an arsenal, swarm enemies with them, subtlety control items in their area, or simply use items as animated servants. Though this works best with objects the user has some connection with, with it being less effective with random objects, and the user can only targets up to the size of a fridge. The user will require the user's voice to activate and give out commands to their minions.

Review of Miss Major Speaks by Toshio Meronek and Miss Major

This book was wonderful. It is an interview between Miss Major, a community icon, and Toshio Meronek, her friend and assistant. When I think of community organizing, Miss Major is who I am thinking of. She has shown up in so many important ways and done so many amazing things. She spoke at length about how, though she read Marx, she never really cared much about political affiliation because at the end of the day it doesn’t fucking matter. What matters is the community resources that we are preparing for ourselves, and the kindness and care that we are giving our neighbors. This really reasonated with me. Another point that she made was that “with all the visibility we’ve gotten, it hasn’t done shit for most of the community.”  She talks about her refusal to attend pride events or speak for any corporation. She talks about her experiences protesting “progressive” organizations that claim to help the trans community. Because, at the end of the day, they don’t. All that people do is give lip service because they feel its trendy to “support trans issues.” Meanwhile, they’re not listening to the people they are claiming to support. She reignited an anti-establishment sense in me. When I was living in Spain, I learned a lot about spanish communism and how the communist there really believe in working with the government. And it was so odd to me because american communist is so much more anarchist. And I was briefly swayed that maybe the american radical perspective wasn’t necessarily the right one. But no, fuck that. These systems cannot be changed, they cannot be reformed. They are corrupt from the inside out, and any contact that they have with queer issues warps it. Corporate pride is the norm now. Cops go to pride. Cops are invited to pride. and more than that, we coordinate protests with the city, with the police departments. There should be more riots imo, and pride should be community-led pop up events. We don’t need that fucking Clorox, Chase Bank, and Deloitte money, because those companies won’t even actually allow it to be used in the spaces that need it most. A great quote from Miss Major was “You know, we still end up having to do the work that nonprofits are paid to do. We have to check on them.” I also recommend reading The Revolution Will Not Be Funded: Beyond the Non Profit Industrial Complex by INCITE.

Best quirks for soccer?

I'm ignoring "Soccer". That just feels like cheating to have it be on this list.

Larceny: Ignoring the irony of starting off with a Quirk that's only good with the hands, this would be really good for a goalie to have. You can just pull the ball to you when it gets close.

Pliabody: Soccer puts a lot more emphasis on maneuvering and fancy footwork. So having something that makes the user so agile and flexible is bound to help in getting the ball around.

Magnetism: Crowding the ball is always going to be a problem in this game. So being able to suddenly launch people who aren't sharing through the air at a moment's notice would be a hilarious consequence.

Barrier: This can be useful for golaies since you can turn the goalpost into an impenetrable fortress. And if you are a player on the field, just slap a shield down when you have the ball. Bring the whole game to a halt.

Incite: With all the hugs and huddles that happen in soccer games, it wouldn't hurt to slip some subtle words of encouragement to the rest of your team for them to play better. Hey, it's not going to show up on a drug test.

Permeation: With the selective intangibility aspect of the Quirk, this would work great for getting around people while still having control over the ball. That or you could stick your foot in the ball to launch it even farther.

Twin Impact: Not only could you basically turn the soccer field into a minefield, but any kick to the ball you make can be used again later on to move it however you want. And if anyone asks, it was a strong gust of wind.

Rabbit: Yeah, no surprise that this one makes the top of the list. In a sport all about kicking something and running as fast as you can, the Quirk that grants you the most powerful legs possible is going to be unstoppable in this event.

i can't help seeing the concept of "coming back wrong" as reflective of the aftermath of attempted (and unsuccessful) suicide. whether you gratefully accepted death at the end, or you struggled in terror in your final moments and wished you could somehow twist out of the way of your oncoming fate, the choice to die was taken from you. you failed to achieve the inevitable. how wrong must you be, to be unable to even die properly? how horrifying - and how utterly infuriating - would it be, to have everyone around you expressing gratitude or disgust at your resurrection, while you cannot even begin to articulate the depths of your own conviction that death, the inexorable maw itself, must have decided there was something just not right about you, and spat you out?
