YES!!! SAME LIKE... I AM NOT SURE THAT THERE WILL BE MEET UPS THE SIZE THAT HOMESTUCK ONES WERE.... BUT WOULD I BE SURPRISED IF THERE WERE GIANT DSMP COSPLAY MEETS/PHOTOSHOOTS? ABSOLUTELY THE FUCK NOT. but yeah!!! the dsmp fandom is fucking huge! like... it does feel small to me because of algorithms and how many people are currently on the internet? like i think to myself... is it really this big or am i in a bubble? but i think that the trending tag on twitter kind of cements it if only a little bit in terms of oh thats a big fandom. plus like, even out of my bubble i see people going... THAT’S MINECRAFT? THIS IS A MINECRAFT THING?

so i think it is, in all honesty, a big ass fandom. it’s not as centralized, which may make it seem a little smaller than what it is considering that like... there’s not really a central hub for fandom content anymore? tumblr is not at the peak it once was and while twitter is popularly used and could arguably be a fandom hub -- it functions poorly as one. the character limit on tweets is really restricting on other fan content like analysis and just discussion in general. so a lot of people are scattered about.

but yeah i agree? the dsmp fandom members on tumblr are pretty active! i’ll post something and it wont even be like a few seconds before someone likes my post and i just ??? who are you are you waiting in the tags i don’t actually understand. I’VE NOTICED A FEW OLD HOMESTUCK FANS IN THE FANDOM! mostly on tiktok with the joke being like... am i talking about homestuck or the dream smp? because they are so fucking similar it BAFFLES me yet EXCITES me. ive also seen a few dsmpstuck pieces of fanart! and i’ve ALSO heard some homestuck donos asking if he’s read it! it makes sense for people to ask him too bc he likes undertale and plays a lot of the music from it! i think he’s said he hasn’t read it but like... i do think its kind of interesting.

i also hope the same. if they do ill def be angry about it because it is largely a very tame fandom. most people are respectful in this fandom. i’ve seen so many people post about backing off of bits and certain things because a creator has voiced discomfort and it essentially stops. like, the people that most “anti’s” or assholes are referring to in terms of being bad and awful are the very few who get the most attention from an outside perspective. because if you already do not like something, you’re not going to remember and take in the good or normal things that the fandom does, you’re going to remember all the bad shit the fandom does.

and bad and weird people exist. they just do you cant get around it. even in smaller fandoms they exist -- they just don’t grab that much attention because the fandom is small and no one pays attention to them. when you have a big fandom, you’re going to get a lot of attention. it is on you to ignore the fucking creeps and either carry on with your life or uplift the good and completely respectable part of the fandom.

i get so angry when people refer to large fandoms as bad. especially ones filled with adolescents and young adults. it’s just a given that when something is more popular, it’s going to get noticed more. including the awful creeps that lurk in fandom spaces.

and by creeps and weirdos i do mean like... people who are disrespecting content creator’s and their boundaries and just being gross to Real Actual People. if you are being mean and calling a fandom bad and awful because they cosplay, roleplay, or doing whatever you consider cringy, IM GOING TO STOMP ON YOU WITH MY BIG MASSIVE HOOVES. leave cringe culture in the past and let people be people but especially let kids be kids.

Ya know, in hindsight, the image of Dream stepping between Tommy and Wilbur after he'd given Wilbur the tnt is... really heartbreaking...? Like, it was already an upsetting moment from Tommy's perspective, but now that we know what Dream's true intentions were all along and everything he's done after, it feels so much worse?

Wilbur had been spiraling ever since he lost the election (hell, according to Ghostbur his mental health was pretty poor even before then). He became destructive and paranoid. It was obvious to anyone paying attention, but most importantly Tommy - and Dream. Wilbur shared his plans to blow up Manberg and Dream immediately got on board with them. Back then, it felt slightly off or at least unexpected for his character to do that. It felt like a betrayal from Tommy's perspective.

But now? Of course Dream wanted Wilbur to destroy Manberg, and later, L'manberg). Not only would it cripple the country that constantly undermined Dream's authority, but it would also cripple Tommy's relationship to his brother. For all intents and purposes, that moment irreparably fractured Tommy and Wilbur's relationship going forward. Tommy still stuck by Wilbur until the end, like he promised, and Wilbur still showed hesitance to hurt Tommy, but I think we can all agree that their relationship has still yet to fully recover from that moment.

Dream not only supplied Wilbur with the tnt to do the deed, but he stood in the way of the person who, at that point, was the only one who could've helped pull Wilbur out of his spiral. He single-handedly prevented Tommy from stopping his brother from going down the dark path that would end in his death. Resulting in Tommy losing him (for what seemed to be) forever.

And, with what we know now, I can't help but feel like that was intentional.
