cloudbusting by @starsstruck is one of my all all time faves, i re-read it often. its such a lovely story with really interesting characters and a really lovely love story that makes you want to scream in the best way possible. charlotte has a way of writing really palpable chemistry, i can't find a way to link a masterlist of hers but one of her shorter fics blue dream is one of my faves as well

the development of katsuki throughout the whole thing just means SO much to me,,, he grew up so much and now hes an ADULT and he's so beautiful :')) and the devotion that he and izuku show each other throughout, whether or not it has any specific labels, means SO much to me too (esp as a person who doesn't always feel comfortable with labels of any kind). the fact that hori emphasized that it was KATSUKI who drove the fundraising efforts, but also that all of class 1-A worked together, is just lsdskldklsd izuku is so so loved :'))

and god. i love ochako so much. her moments in the last chapters were so dear to my heart, watching her break down while trying to hold it in behind a smile was so painful and so izuku-like of her and i was so happy when he came over the hill to comfort her because those two are so similar and they are so best friends and their relationships means SO MUCH TO MEEEE. ik im rambling im just,, full of love for these characters.

So first of all, I absolutely LOVE questions about writing, so please always feel free to send me any you may have! I'm such a nerd, I really love talking about the process and I'm happy to discuss it or share advice and so on!

Secondly, omg you're so sweet! Thank you, I'm so glad you like my writing!

Now then, lemme answer your questions! I apologize in advance for the LENGTH of these answers, but I seem to be incapable of writing about this sort of thing without it turning into an entire essay.

Yes, absolutely, I was extremely nervous when I first starting posting my fics. Some of that may have been that I hadn't written fic in a while and I was nervous enough about sharing, but I was extra nervous about messing up characterization. I wasn't used to writing for characters that I didn't create myself. I got nervous again when I started posting smut, too lol.

The thing about this type of anxiety in general is that exposure therapy really is the cure. It's like that for a little bit at first, but the more you do it, the more you prove to yourself that it's no big deal. Nowadays, I have almost no anxiety when I'm posting something fluffy and even most smut pieces are easier for me to post, too.

Another piece of this is remembering that the reason you write fic is for your own enjoyment. You're putting it on the internet on the chance that someone else might like it, too. But really, you have to focus on the things that make you happy. It's easier to deal with posting anxiety if you keep your focus on the joy of creation rather than the adrenaline of sharing. It's hard to do, but it gets easier the more you do it!

Okay, so endings! Uh, here's a fun fact about me, endings are my weakness lol. I have a lot of practice starting things and then never ending them because I absolutely get bored at a certain point. So I know exactly what you mean by the brain going to honk mimimi land.

For me, the trick was to write short stuff. Most of my fics are just scene length. This allowed me to get some practice with writing more endings because I didn't get bored when I was pretty much just writing one scene. So I found a couple things that I like to do for endings specifically, but then I also discovered a way to sort of keep my brain engaged while writing longer stuff.

It kinda all comes down to what you want to leave the reader with. That final paragraph or sentence can really deliver an impactful emotion. So you kinda have to think about what the rest of the scene is about, what specific feeling do you want the reader to have when they get to the end? If you're not sure, you can also frame it as what kind of feeling do you want to have at the end?

One technique I like to use is tying everything back to the beginning. I've used it multiple times, but it's probably most obvious in this Barbatos drabble. The first and last sentences are the same, but you don't have to be that blatant about it lol. That was mostly a stylistic choice. But if you look at the third paragraph and the last paragraph, they are parallels of each other, but they're different. What they convey is that something has changed by the end. So by repeating pieces of the beginning at the end, I'm deliberately illustrating what changed in the middle.

It's like thinking of the ending as a sort of summary of everything that happened in the middle of the story. If you're writing something longer, you can apply this to individual scenes as needed. But you might end up with an entire scene at the beginning and an entire scene at the end that do the same thing (rather than a couple of paragraphs).

Another thing I like to do is leave an implication of further action that isn't included. Something like "You wouldn't leave his room until morning." or maybe "You had a feeling something like this would happen again soon." Like this isn't really the end, but the rest is up to your imagination!

This is more specifically about the last paragraphs/scene/sentence, though. It's good to think of a way to recall the entirety of the story you just told, leaving the reader with the overall feeling you were going for.

But when it comes to longer stories, if you're finding you make it to one scene and then stop, well, that might be the end of your story. For this kind of thing, it really helps me to think about what the end game of the story is. For instance, in my longest fic, The Threads That Bind, I knew it was a Barbatos x MC love story. So the "end" couldn't happen until they had confessed their feelings to each other. A lot of other stuff happened before that, but it all contributed to that final plot point. And there isn't much story after that. The final scene is their confession. (There is a spicy epilogue, but that was just a bonus lol.)

So if you can decide before you even start writing what the goal is, you can write to that goal, filling in a bunch of cool scenes along the way. It doesn't have to be that you know exactly what happens or what the final scene is. When I started writing Threads, I had no idea how the confession was going to go. I just knew that Barbatos and MC had to end up declaring their love somehow.

But I tied that into the rest of the story with the theme of the threads. It was a visual anchor as well as a metaphorical one - magic let them see threads binding them together, but the feeling of belonging to each other was kind of the point of it all. So I was able to take that concept that I'd already used and incorporate it into the final confession scene.

NOW THEN all of this might also be easier if you're an outline type of person, but I most definitely AM NOT. Other writers swear by an outline and you'll probably find a lot of information on how to use one if you Google it.

But outlining for me is like pulling teeth, so I never do it. I write my first draft in a fever dream, with the end goal and a handful of ideas about overall themes and a couple things that I just think would be cool or fun to write. I spend a lot of time daydreaming about the story first, too, but I don't write anything down until I'm writing that first draft.

I could probably write a whole book on my methods for writing, but my biggest piece of advice for this kind of thing is EXPERIMENT.

The best part about writing is that aside from the basic fundamentals (spelling, grammar, sentence structure, etc), there are NO RULES. So if you're finding you're always struggling with finishing, try out anything and everything that might help you with that. Try writing outlines, try not writing outlines, try ending your story with the scene you were working toward, try thinking of a new scene you want to write as the ending scene. If it works, great! If it doesn't work, no problem! Just chuck it and try something else.

Sometimes the best thing for me to do is to ask myself what would be the most fun to write next? And then just going for it. My opinion is that you can always edit things later!

Anyway, I hope some of that helps! I'm sorry I really rambled quite a bit, but like I said, I love talking about this kind of thing lol.

AWWWWW thank you so much for saying so!!!! My sweet orange heart friend 🥺🥺🥺🥺 I felt genuinely felt so much better when taking those pictures!! Seeing my F/Os physically holding the cookies I baked for them, it just - it felt right. Made me daydream about them both being so excited to see their faces on heart-shaped things. Seeing the little "We love you Keri!" sign on the pink flowers too, it just... it felt really nice. I felt very loved by them. I spent hours baking and decorating and setting things up, that didn't make me feel anything tbh I was totally numb and depressed, until the very end when I actually set up my dolls with those items, and then it "clicked" and I was suddenly beginning to feel better. I thought to myself "oh hey 🥺 that's my Barbie. that's my Ken. they came for me. look at them holding my cookies. I made those for them and they're so so happy. we're celebrating our love, and my road to recovery. it's really been one year and I'm still somewhat hyperfixated on them. that means something. that is really special. I did not think I would be able to enjoy any F/Os one year ago, so it is a huge leap forward that I am enjoying them today" and I've slowly started feeling just a little bit better, trying to get myself into the habit of self shipping like this, the way I used to all the time ;u;

I'm trying to celebrate the rest of my Barbie/Ken anniversary plans on the days where I'm in a good headspace, and it's working out really well! I originally had everything planned on just the one day, July 21st - a movie, a restaurant, baking cake and cookies, wearing my Barbie outfit with my cherry blossom skirt, etc I think I was even planning on going to the beach (but let's be real. it's the hottest summer ever. even Ken would not like the beach right now sdlfjdsfldsf!) I've started breaking it down to just one activity at a time on a day where I feel up for it. I went to a restaurant the other day and ordered heart-shaped waffles like they have in the Barbie movie! At some point, I am going to bring my dolls to the movie theater and have them sit in my lap and hold my candy for me, facing them toward the screen, and we can watch the movie together. It will be nice, a theater date 🥺🥺🥺 Building up that habit of believing you're loved and planning fun things to treat yourself, while tying your F/Os into those activities, really feels so good!!!

My anniversary with Sebastian from La La Land already passed on Sunday, but I still wanna celebrate! So when I feel up for it one of these days, I'm gonna go to a coffee shop and get myself two extra small hot chocolates, and them written one for Keri and one for Seb. And then when I get home I'll just pour them into a regular cup and drink it lol but still! It will feel really good to hear them call out "for Keri and Sebastian" - one part of my self ship w/ Sebby is that we go on coffee shop dates, or I'll surprise him with one when he's busy working and doesn't have time to get one himself. It helps me feel so much better, really nice acts of self care that gets me out of the house, and makes me think of my F/Os at the same time! 10/10 highly recommend!!!

I've already planned on baking more cookies for my anniversary with Officer K on September 1st :D and an apple pie for Driver in that same month-- oh! That's another thing, I'm actually baking! I never used to do that, but now I'm always looking forward to learning how to bake new things. My anniversary with Six is coming up on the 18th of this month, and I have roses being delivered to me soon! It's rly nice to look forward to these things too. I've even marked the orders as a gift, and the seller who crochets the rose bouquets actually includes a note to go with the bouquet! So I picked one that says "I love you" and I'll set them by my Barbie bouquet in front of The Gray Man poster :D

1. i always drink a caramel frappe bahaah and ooh im not too knowledgeable about sbux drinks frankly but im sure he’d drink something similar to mine or just something insanely sweet, definitely with a shit ton of extra caramel or choco drizzle!!!!

2. oh i have sooooo many but it would flood this post. i have a hc gojo runs either cold or hot, no in between, but mostly on the colder side bc of infinity and such. i also hc that he uses infinity to hold his hair up and also a crack onw where he doesnt shower bc of infinity and just 😭😭 has very specific food tastes, i mean ofc he would like the sweet stuff but when it comes to fruits too, he can tolerate sour fruits but it cant be TOO sour or hes not eating it 😭 apples have to be the correct consistency too so if it's too mushy he'll push it to u for you to eat LOLOL. thinks about suguru a lot and always goes over what he wouldve done if he noticed sooner, wears his hair tie around his wrist :(( also have kept geto's room clean and neat and sometimes goes in there to just lay in his bed. his scent is far gone but he can still sense cursed energy and sometimes he wonders if the curses his bsf collected were looking after him (ill leave it up to you if you think that cursed energy belings to kenjaku or simply geto's spirit)

3. sleeping innnnnnnnn lol my body clock likes to wake me up too early and im so tired from last week's performance 😭 at least then ill have more energy to do my essays

4. i havent been reading much, but cloud cuckoo land by anthony doerr, any book by cecelia ahern, un lun dun by china miéville, i personally loved frankenstein ngl, daughter of the moon goddess by sue lynn tan (altho it's a classic love triangle and i hate love triangles but i always love me a good book based of chinese mythology. havent read the sequel!), the secret history, P&P by jane austen is pretty good too

5. gojo LIKE. partially true he just fills me w sm joy bc i love him as a character sm! this is intangible but music. i love love love music sm it shapes me sm as a person and i think ill be a very boring person without music. i cant. i love it sm you guys cant fathom 😭. my mom!! i love my mother very much :) she has been nothing but loving to me and im 4ever grateful for that. in regards to place, anywhere quiet. there was a subway near my dance studio before and it was my no. 1 place to stay and study but they moved out :(
