Chapters 1-31

[Insert isekai setup here] but this time MC inherits powers of an old master. Kinda like Legend, except MC here is actually all powerful and can do anything with magic. Primarily making robots, like his main maid assistant. Pretty much an isekai with seperate arcs making it feel like an episodic anime where anime hijinks happen. THUMB SIDEWAYS.

[Insert isekai startup here] but this time he has a castle. Guess MC is so unimportant he literally isn’t deserving to exist on the cover. Just the castle. Literally the castle existing is the character. Meh. THUMB IN BOTTOM CORNER. Guess it wasn’t offensive.

Chapters 1-6

Im a sucker for [Insert isekai startup genderbend redux] but this time it’s the MC’s roleplay character. So the MC is roleplaying this super edgy but goodhearted character and it is really funny to watch em try to yuri it up and seem like a badass despite barely knowing whats going on. Perfect art for its goal. Love the funni faces. THUMBS UP. Flesh fang good.

Kuro no Shoukanshi

Chapters 1-70

So now its time to describe the battle maniac subgenre. Battle Maniac manga are all about the fights, and the MC who loves fighting for fighting sakes and therefore creates situations that allow them to fight. For this manga in specific, the setting is an isekai and the MC is a summoner meaning that he recruits quite a few allies. But he is also a battle maniac and fights on the front lines an insane ton. All the fights are fun to watch, well drawn, with fun mechanics. Somehow this manga manages to feel like a slice of life battle manga, which is odd but feels really nice and homely. THUMBS UP.

Chapters 1-5/END

THUMBS DOWN. Guess it was cancelled at just 5 chapters end, so don’t waste your time. Pretty much “I was reincarnated as a sword”-lite and the guy is a phoenix instead of a sword. Had potential but nothing realized.

Chapters 1-33

[Insert isekai startup here] but this time she is the daughter of a legendary hero and the originator goddess. Ontop of being half human half spirit, the MC has knowledge of chemical compounds so her spirit power is controlling elements off the periodic table. This manga is strangely alluring with its slice of life pacing and fantastical elements of its hikki scientist turned little kid learning how to be both royalty and a demi god and also just a human being. Oh yeah and also trying to avoid the king’s plot to have her marry into kingly royalty. Sins of the past. THUMBS UP.

Right off the bat, it got cancelled and is unfulfilling so THUMBS DOWN. About the manga though its [insert isekai startup here] but this time himbo MC escapes the torture lab and runs away to try and live a quiet life with demons. It doesn’t work. Suffer porn ensues. Also of note, yandere loli fairy GF. She is stronger than MC but not strong enough to stop the suffer porn from occurring. Really makes everything the MC does feel useless because he barely ever gains any ground.

Yasei no Last Boss ga Arawareta!

Chapters 1-40

[insert iseaki sta - NO FUCK THAT. THIS MANGA STARTS OFF SEEMINGLY LIKE A GENERIC OVERPOWERED ISEKAI but then it goes places. It gets good. It has a mystery with twists and turns that gets parts answered and more questions raised. Traitors and quadruple agents appear. All while the MC, Ruphas Mafahl, sets out to regather her Twelve Zodiacs. Despite such a simple goal, this manga employs a variety of submysteries, character arcs, thematic naming to make for a very interesting plot. Note to mention the video game skills are well explained, cool, unique, and combined in awesome ways. THUMBS UP. Also this is a genderbend manga. Also also I love the zodiac and zodiac theming is rad. Also also also. Aries.

As the self proclaimed [男の娘 の おた�� ],  it is my duty to investigate and review traps. Honestly came out of nowhere in the manga, but I am blessed for it. Shoutouts to my guy Mizaal the dwarf for keeping it real.

Aries’s focal point, as shown in the image above is obvious. Sheeps have fluffly wool. So of course our sheep boy is gonna have his Trap Focal Element be his fluffy rainbow hair. Even better that its depicted as sky blue. Not only does he look great, he has lots of screen time due to being the first zodiac gotten, major plot focus due to being Rufas’s most trustworthy member of the zodiac, and EVEN character development and huge focus in 2 different arcs. Cool, trustworthy, cute, dependable, fluffy, the strongest, ignorant of his appearance.

-From The Chiming of the Bells, a Death Note one-shot about L’s final day.

Lawrence frowned as he made his way to the prince's bedroom. Stupid, irresponsible waste of air, Naveen was. Always mucking about with this girl and that, in no way reverent of his title. If Maldonia was going to be ruled by this prince, Lawrence would be shipping out and laughing as the island sank à la Atlantis. He composed himself, trying to, if not smile, then not glower, as he opened the door.

-From The Not-So-Charming Life of a Prince, a PatF fic that takes place shortly before Naveen arrives in New Orleans and was supposed to go through the whole movie except I was sixteen and easily distracted and discontinued it.

The first thing he was aware of was the bright light seeping in through his closed eyelids. So, probabilities were high that it was daytime. The second was the splitting ache in his jaw and ribcage, made painfully obvious as he sat up. The third and final of his observations was that, when he finally opened his eyes, his left ocular device refused to cooperate, and reacted with a dull pain every time he tried to force it open. This meant, without a doubt, that he had a black eye. Perfect.

-From Startling Developments, a Penny Arcade: On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness fic, aka the first fic where newly 18-year-old Slush started using swears and her first multi-chapter fic that featured a coherent, completed arc. (Note: if you read this fic, there’s crude humor, swearing, and a whole host of offensive terms in order to fit the tone of the source material. Bear in mind, 1) 2011 was a different time, 2) It’s been seven years since then and I have changed a lot, and 3) the views and language used by the characters =/= the author’s personal opinions, even at the time.)

If anyone were to ask Lucifer Box if he was a sentimental man, the most they would get would be a light scoff, a toss of his long, dark hair, or possibly a simple raise of the eyebrows that (very obviously) showed his doubt in his questioner’s intelligence.

-From Study in Blue, Number 1 a one-shot for the Lucifer Box series with him contemplating his relationship with his valet, Charlie Jackpot.

Something was off today.

-From Reset, my behemoth of an Undertale fanfic exploring Sans learning about Resets, his relationship with W.D. Gaster, and dealing with Determination.

He was a merchant by trade, and so was inclined to wander. This, he knew, was merely a story; it didn’t matter what brought him here or what had led up to this moment. The fact was that he was here, and that there must be some reason for it, or else he wouldn’t have wandered this way.

- From The Merchant and the Toad King, an OFF fanfic with a fairy tale vibe that bounces off the “Toad King and the Masked Man” story in the game, featuring my boy Zacharie. One of the best things I think I’ve ever written, to be honest.

Haircuts are surprisingly terrifying.

- From And Therewithal I Cut My Hair, a Yuri!!! on Ice fic about Victor cutting off his long hair. Another one of my absolute favorite fics I’ve ever written.

When Katsuki Yuuri—Earl of Hasetsu, son of Baroness Katsuki Hiroko of Sagashima—first received the summons, he assumed it was a mistake. When the courier assured him that, yes, the royal summons were indeed for Katsuki Yuuri, Earl of Hasetsu, son of Baroness Katsuki Hiroko of Sagashima, he then assumed that this was some sort of cruel joke. His island was just a tiny part of the kingdom, with Hasetsu being tinier still, so there was absolutely no way that Crown Prince Victor Nikiforov would know that he even existed, titled or not.

-From Duty-Bound, another YOI fic and babby’s first-ever AU. It’s a royalty AU I wrote for @sharpace because the ones we were finding on AO3 just weren’t cutting it.

If you made the trip to Santa Cecilia, it’d be a miracle if you could get through without encountering Mexico’s two most spirited mariachis. Ernesto de la Cruz and Héctor Rivera had been practically assaulting the plaza with their performances since they’d first gotten a guitar in their respective hands, and it’s still a miracle how neither of them got into (too much) trouble.

-And finally, from The Liberties You’re Taking, the fic that launched me into my current circle of Coco Hell. Famous for apparently being the birthplace of “diosa”.
