Who is Chetan Bhagat?

Chetan Bhagat is a well-known Indian author, columnist, and speaker. He has become a household name in India, thanks to his best-selling books that have made a huge impact on the Indian literary scene. His works are popular for their easy-to-read style and a mix of humor, romance, and social commentary.

Early Life and Education

Chetan Bhagat was born on 22nd April 1974 in New Delhi, India. He grew up in an Indian Army family and completed his schooling from the Army Public School in New Delhi. He went on to study Mechanical Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi, and later earned a degree in Business Administration from the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad.

Career

After completing his studies, Bhagat worked as an investment banker for a few years before quitting his job to pursue his passion for writing. His first novel, "Five Point Someone," was published in 2004. The book, which tells the story of three friends who struggle to survive IIT, became an instant bestseller and won several awards.

Bhagat's second book, "One Night @ the Call Center," was published in 2005 and became another bestseller. The book was later adapted into a Bollywood film called "Hello."

Bhagat's third book, "The 3 Mistakes of My Life," was published in 2008 and tells the story of three friends who start a business but face several challenges. The book was later adapted into a Bollywood film called "Kai Po Che."

Bhagat's fourth book, "2 States: The Story of My Marriage," was published in 2009 and tells the story of a Punjabi boy who falls in love with a Tamil girl. The book was later adapted into a Bollywood film called "2 States."

Bhagat's fifth book, "Revolution 2020," was published in 2011 and tells the story of two friends who fall in love with the same girl. The book deals with issues such as corruption and education in India.

Bhagat's sixth book, "Half Girlfriend," was published in 2014 and tells the story of a boy from Bihar who falls in love with a rich girl from Delhi. The book was later adapted into a Bollywood film called "Half Girlfriend."

Bhagat's latest book, "The Girl in Room 105," was published in 2018 and tells the story of a boy who falls in love with a girl he meets at a hostel.

Chetan Bhagat Controversies

Bhagat has been involved in several controversies over the years. In 2013, he was accused of plagiarism by a Delhi-based author, Anvita Bajpai, who claimed that Bhagat had lifted several plot points from her book for his novel "One Indian Girl." Bhagat denied the allegations and filed a defamation suit against Bajpai.

In 2014, Bhagat was criticized for his remarks on the anti-corruption movement led by Anna Hazare. Bhagat had suggested that the movement was not achieving anything and that people should focus on working hard instead.

In 2016, Bhagat was criticized for his tweet on the JNU protests, which read, "Never seen a place for anti-national elements like JNU in any other country. If you want to be a part of India, then speak its language." The tweet was widely criticized for its divisive and inflammatory nature.

2018, Bhagat was accused of sexual harassment by a woman who claimed that he had made unwanted sexual advances towards her during a literary event. Bhagat denied the allegations and said that the incident had been misinterpreted.

He won the Entrepreneur of the year by The Economic Times in 2016.  Forbes ranked him as India’s youngest billionaire in 2017, and GQ India listed the intelligent man among the top 50 Influential Indians.

 The fourth name is Trishneet Arora, who is the CEO and establisher of TAC Security Solutions.  The organization strives to prevent and investigate cybercrimes. He was listed in ‘40 under 40’ by Fortune India, and in 2017, the boy was ranked among the 50 most influential young Indian by the GQ’s magazine. The reputed firm has received the ‘Company of the year’ award by Golden Bridge awards in 2019 and the CyberSecurity TechTors award in 2020. The lad has written two books related to Cyber Security.

 The fifth individual on the list is Ritesh Aggarwal, one of the top entrepreneurs in India. He is the founder of OYO(On Your Own). The youngster began his career at the age of 17. Since 2013, OYO rooms have served more than 12000 hotels around the globe. The company had raised over one billion dollars in 2018. The guy is the first Asian who was awarded the Thiel fellowship.

The sixth person is Srikanth Bolla, whose work is appreciated by the country. The young man attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and became the first-ever international blind student. The lad found the Bollant industry that produces recycled products and hires people with disabilities in the company. Forbes has listed him in 30 under 30 in the year 2017. His dream is to be the first blind president of India.

Then comes Chhotu Sharma, who began CS infotech that trains individuals in the latest software technology. The wise man has received a Microsoft Certification in software development.  He has trained more than 1000 students, and many of them are placed in reputed firms. The Union Minister of Health and Family welfare awarded him in 2015 for his contribution to Education and Information Technology and his motivational story.

The upcoming person on the list is PC Musthafa, the Ceo and co-founder of ID Fresh food since 2006. The youngster and his three cousins, namely Abdul Nazir, Jafar TK, and Noushad TA, planned to sell fresh idlis at the beginning. Slowly they became well-known in the nearby regions. The second last name on the list is Deep Kalra, who is an alumnus of  IIM Ahmedabad.  He was the founder and group CEO of MakeMyTrip in 2000. His company has recorded history by receiving nine awards in 2012. The tycoon is a member of the Executive Council of NASSCOM and  Charter Member of TiE (The Indus Entrepreneurs).  MakeMyTrip has won Best Online Tour Company, Retailer of the Year, and Leisure and Travel E- Retailer Award.

Last but not least is Anuj Rakyan, who is the owner of RAW Pressery, which is the first Cold Pressed Juice Company in India. He started the company from his kitchen in June 2013. The firm began with one crore fifty lakh and later became a two fifty crores organisation within forty-two months.

IIM Calcutta Admission 2019

IIM Calcutta has changed the admission criteria 2019-21 making it more lucrative for candidates from all academic backgrounds. According to IIM Calcutta Admission policy for 2019-21 batch, CAT 2018 percentile cut offs will be 80 percentile for each of the three sections while the minimum overall CAT 2018  percentile will be 90 for the first stage shortlisting. "Reducing the weightage for CAT 2018 score to meagre 56% in shortlisting process and increasing the weightage of academic profile below bachelor’s degree to 40%, IIM Calcutta is all set to attract students from diverse back ground."                                      IIM Calcutta Admission Criteria 2019-21 prescribe the admission eligibility, a lower CAT 2018 cut off and low weightage for CAT score in first stage shortlisting as well as in final selection process. At the same time it has increased the weightage to academic profile in arriving at the shortlist for PI-WAT round.                                                                                        One of the most important points in IIM  Ahmedabad Admission Eligibility criteria is that apart from a recognized graduate degree, the candidate should appear in CAT 2018 exam and must score minimum prescribed sectional and overall score to become eligible for admission.  If the candidate is awarded grades / CGPA instead of marks, the equivalence to determine PGP admission eligibility would be based on the equivalence certified by the university from where the bachelor's degree is obtained.                                        In case the institution  does not have any scheme for converting  the  CGPA  into equivalent  marks,  the equivalence would be established by IIM Calcutta by dividing the obtained CGPA by the maximum possible CGPA and multiplying the resultant by 100 to confirm the Admission eligibility of the candidate.  A candidate appearing for the final year bachelor's equivalent qualification examination and those who have completed the degree requirements and are awaiting results is also eligible to apply for IIM Calcutta Admission 2019-21.                                                                    Such  a  candidate must  produce  a  certificate from  the head  of  the  department registrar of  the  university certifying  that  the  candidate is currently  in  the  final year or is awaiting final results and has obtained at least 50% marks or equivalent (45% in case of the candidate belonging to SC / ST / PwD category) based on latest available grades/marks.                              IIM Calcutta Eligibility further clarifies that such a candidate, if selected, will become ineligible for the IIM Calcutta admission unless he / she submits a certificate latest by June 30, 2019 from the principal of the department of the university  stating that they have completed all the requirements for obtaining the bachelor 's degree / equivalent qualification on the date of issue of the certificate.                                    It is mandatory for a final year student, who is provisionally considered eligible  by  IIM  Calcutta  and  offered admission, to submit the mark - sheet and degree certificate  of  the final  year  bachelor's  degree  examination held  on  or  before June 30, 2019.  The deadline to submit the mark-sheet and the certificate is December 31, 2019.  To  get  the more  information  about  IIM Calcutta Admission  so  please visit  http://www.mbauniverse.com/articles/iim-calcutta-admission
