Tosses my beanie baby into the ring
I’m not too surprised at Misaki’s sudden death because it’s P.A. works and they also animated Akiba Maid War so…if you know then you know. But I do think she shouldn’t have died. We could’ve gotten the same “please protect my child because I know you love her dearly as much as she loves you” moment if she was hospitalized or resting at kyu chan’s place.

The bell above the door of Family Video jingled as you stepped inside, the familiar sound pulling a smile to your lips. The store was quiet, save for the low hum of the air conditioner and the soft rustling of tapes being sorted. You scanned the aisles, searching for a familiar head of perfectly coiffed hair.
Steve Harrington stood at the counter, leaning on his elbows with a bored expression, flipping through a magazine. He hadn’t noticed you yet, lost in whatever article had caught his attention. The sight of him made your heart flutter, a feeling that had become all too common these past few months.
You approached the counter, trying to keep your voice light. “You know, if you stare at those pictures any harder, you might burn a hole through them.”
Steve’s head snapped up, his bored expression melting into a grin the moment he saw you. “Hey! Didn’t think I’d see you today. How’s it going?”
“Not too bad. Thought I’d stop by and see if you could recommend any good movies for a lazy night in.” You leaned against the counter, your heart doing a little flip at the way his eyes softened when he looked at you.
“Ah, the age-old question,” Steve said, straightening up and tossing the magazine aside. He moved out from behind the counter, gesturing for you to follow him. “Let’s see… are we talking horror, comedy, romance? Or maybe a little bit of everything?”
You pretended to think it over. “Hmm, how about something with a happy ending? I could use one of those right about now.”
Steve shot you a sideways glance, his smile fading slightly. “Everything okay?”
You shrugged, trying to keep your tone light. “Just one of those days, you know? Could use a little pick-me-up.”
Steve’s brow furrowed, and he stopped walking, turning to face you fully. “You know I’m here, right? If you need to talk, or… just want to hang out. I’m always here for you.”
His sincerity made your chest tighten, and you found yourself smiling despite the heaviness that had settled over you. “Thanks, Steve. That means a lot.”
He nodded, his expression softening. “Anytime. So, happy ending, huh? I think I’ve got just the thing.”
He led you to the romance section, pulling out a few tapes and handing them to you one by one. “This one’s a classic. Guaranteed to make you smile. And this one? Total tearjerker, but the ending? Perfect. And this one…” He hesitated, glancing at you with a small smile. “This one’s kinda special. First movie I ever took a girl to see.”
You raised an eyebrow, taking the tape from him. “Oh? And how did that date go?”
Steve chuckled, rubbing the back of his neck. “Well, let’s just say I wasn’t always the charmer you see before you now. I think she spent more time laughing at me than at the movie.”
You laughed, shaking your head. “I’m sure it wasn’t that bad. But I have to admit, I’m curious to see what a young Steve Harrington considered a good date movie.”
“Hey, I’ll have you know I had excellent taste, even back then,” he said, his voice playful, but there was a hint of something else in his eyes—something tender, almost shy.
You looked down at the tapes in your hands, a warmth spreading through you. “You know, it’s been a while since I’ve had a proper movie night. Care to join me?”
Steve’s eyes widened slightly in surprise, but then his smile returned, brighter than before. “Are you kidding? I’d love to. I mean, I was just gonna be here all night anyway, so…”
“Perfect,” you said, feeling lighter already. “My place or yours?”
“Yours,” Steve answered without hesitation. “I’ll close up here and meet you there?”
“Sounds like a plan.”
The walk home was quicker than usual, anticipation making your steps lighter. By the time you reached your front door, you were practically buzzing with excitement, your earlier melancholy forgotten.
True to his word, Steve arrived not long after, a bag of snacks in one hand and the movies in the other. He greeted you with that same easy smile, and you couldn’t help but think how lucky you were to have someone like him in your life.
As you settled onto the couch, the first movie starting up, you found yourself leaning a little closer to Steve, your shoulder brushing against his. He didn’t pull away, just glanced at you with a small smile before turning back to the screen.
Halfway through the second movie, you noticed his arm resting on the back of the couch, his fingers just barely grazing your shoulder. It was a casual touch, one that shouldn’t have made your heart race, but it did.
“You know,” Steve said suddenly, his voice low, “I’ve been thinking.”
“About what?” you asked, turning to look at him.
His gaze was focused on the screen, but you could tell he wasn’t really watching. “About how much things have changed. About how… how much better things are when you’re around.”
Your breath caught in your throat at his words, and you felt a warmth spread through your chest. “Steve…”
He finally looked at you, his expression earnest. “I’m serious. I don’t know what I’d do without you, honestly. You’re… you’re kind of my favorite person.”
A smile tugged at your lips, your heart swelling with affection for the boy sitting beside you. “You’re my favorite too, Steve.”
He leaned in slightly, his eyes flickering to your lips and back to your eyes, as if asking for permission. You didn’t need to think twice. Closing the distance, you pressed your lips to his, the kiss soft and sweet, filled with all the unspoken feelings that had been building between you.
When you finally pulled back, Steve rested his forehead against yours, his eyes still closed, a smile playing on his lips. “That was… better than any movie I’ve ever seen.”
You laughed softly, your heart light. “You’re such a dork.”
“Yeah,” he agreed, his smile widening. “But I’m your dork now.”
The rest of the night passed in a blur of laughter, stolen kisses, and the warmth of knowing that, with Steve by your side, you had truly found a place where you belonged. A place that felt like home.

Movies/Series to watch with the Obey me! Boys on date nights
Lucifer:
Probably a comedy, he needs a good laugh and to relax after a long day. I suggest Brooklyn Nine Nine for a series (Jake reminds him of a certain white haired scumbag) or, for a movie, Rango (the comedic genius of Johnny Depp and the fact that a lizard is doing all this because he got lost)
Mammon:
A romance or a action comedy. I feel like he'd enjoy Glass Onion: a knives out mystery (especially the end scenes) or Red Notice (he'd enjoy the story and the action and the comedic moments)
Levi:
Hard to imagine what he'd like, I'm 100% sure he'd like way of the househusband tho. Maybe he'd get into marvel and binge all of those movies (I feel like he'd like Tony a lot and maybe Peter Quill too?)
Satan:
I don't know why but I definitely see him liking baking impossible (the combo of engineering and baking? He'd want to see everything) or liking iZombie (zombie solves people's deaths by gaining their memories from eating their brains? Cool!) I see him watching Love and Monsters and snuggling you, thinking about what he'd do if that happened
Asmo:
Definitely watching next in fashion together or glow up. I feel like he'd watch horror movies just to hold you close but if it's a psychological horror then you're the one holding him. I see him watching the school for good and evil as well. I do think he'd enjoy Shadowhunters as well, Magnus would be his favorite.
Beel:
He would watch anything with you honestly. I do see him really enjoying the Johnny English movies and watching them with you and Belphie. A nice comedy is good but let's add some variety to it. A good romcom, maybe an action comedy or a horror comedy. No tearjerker movies though, he'd get so upset if the love interests don't get together or one dies.
Belphie: (the inaccuracies part in this only applies to the devildom and the game not actual inaccuracies in the movie and/or actual religion)
If you do get him to stay awake for a movie or even an episode, he would be the worst movie buddy (always talking, guessing what happens next and spoiling it if he's already seen it) but he'd love mystery stuff, they keep him on edge and he can't fall asleep until he knows what happens. He'd love Glass Onion as well and enjoy Constantine a lot (the inaccuracies in it slightly ticks him off because hello? Mammon is not Lucifer's son?? What???)

Ok on the subject of Hynden Walch being amazing can we talk about AT’s voice cast? I feel like it doesnt get talked about nearly as much as it should.
Jeremy Shada is amazing for how he can escalate his voice for wacky moments or deescalate his voice for quieter, more thoughtful moments. Finn would not be the same character if it werent for Shada’s perfect vocal balance.
John Dimaggio, like what really needs to be said here? He’s BENDER! Of course he was amazing as Jake!
Hynden Walch was never really a voice I considered when thinking about how amazing AT’s voice cast was up until now, I really just remembered her because “hey thats Starfire!” But after hearing her performance as the Candy Queen I FEEL SO STUPID.
Olivia Olson…I wish I had something more constructive to say about Olsen’s voicework but I think everyone’s already well aware about how AMAZING she is as Marceline. Her voice is just so perfect for the character, being both good at delivering quips and devastating tearjerkers. And thats not even mentioning her having the single best singing voice to ever grace a western animated cartoon (yeah fuck you Alvin). Just like Jeremy Shada with Finn, I could not imagine Marceline without Olivia Olson.
Tom Kenny seems like he would be another Joe Dimaggio situation where hes one of the most amazing voice actors of the generation and thats all there is to say. But I think what makes Tom Kenny’s performance as Ice King AND ESPECIALLY SIMON so especially amazing is that…ITS TOM KENNY. THIS IS THE GUY WHO VOICES SPONGEBOB, AND HE’S RESPONSIBLE FOR THE VOUCE OF ONE OF THE MOST HEARTBREAKINGLY TRAGIC CHARACTERS IN ALL OF FICTION, AND HE DOES IT PERFECTLY. THE REVEAL IN HOLLY JOLLY SECRETS, THE CHEERS SCENE FROM SIMON AND MARCY, THE ENDING OF I REMEMBER YOU, ALL DONE BY THE SAME GUY WHO THOUGHT OF SOMETHING FUNNIER THAN 24*! THIS MAN IS A TREASURE.
Niki Yang, look, I know I already said that no one could play Marceline or Finn as well as Olson and Shada…BUT NO ONE, AND I MEAN, NO, ONE, COULD PLAY BMO AS WELL AS NIKI YANG. She brings a perfect tone of childlike wonder, curiosity and innocence into every word spoken by the little robot. She brings such a fun and vibrant energy to the little guy in episodes like “5 short graybles” or “BMO noire,” that just makes it hit all the harder when moments of existentialism pop up in episodes like “The More you Moe” or…well…”BMO.” BMO has one of the most interesting growing up stories in a series where every pretty much every character’s stories are about growing up, and a lot of that is owed to how perfectly delivered his lines are by Yang.
But theres one voice that gets overlooked more than most others, and who deserves way more credit than they get for how important they are to the show. Someone who’s been around since the very first episode and has been continually providing voices for the series even now in Fionna and Cake. A voice actress whos so commited to the show that its easier to count the episodes she ISNT in than the ones she is in. MARIA. BAMFORD. Margaret, Hot Dog Princess, Slime Princess, Ghost Princess, Melissa, Raggedy Princess, Manfried, Wildberry Princess, Undead Princess, The Butterfly with a Gun AND AN ABSOLUTELY GINORMOUS AMOUNT OF EXTRA VOICES. She puts so much of her signature hilarious vocal range into every one of the dozens if not HUNDREDS of characters that she plays throughout the series. Also a lot of you probably don’t know this but she does standup comedy and she’s hilarious and you should all listen to her albums because she also does funny voices in that and you can even sometimes identify a voice she used for a character in the show…but also trigger warning for mental illness and suicide she talks about those kind of a lot. But anyway my point is, Maria Bamford is a huge reason as to why Adventure Time is as wonderful as it is. Her wacky voices contribute so much to the weird and wonderful vibe of the show, and even if she doesn’t play any primary characters, she is one of the most important and under appreciated voices in the entire series.

Muppet Movies Ranked
I've recently marathoned all 8 theatrical Muppet movies ,and these are my rankings.Keep in mind I think all 8 are good movies,I just prefer some to others
8.The Muppets
I like the nostalgic look back stuff.....But the peoblem is I dont like Walter or the human characters .This film is the most meh to me
Tumblr media
7.Muppets From Space
ITs diffrent, being the only non musical in the series ,and I do like that the film focuses on my favorite Muppet Gonzo and doesnt showcase just the Muppet Show guys but the Muppets Tonght guys as well but the story isnt all there,I dont think Jeffrey Tambours villain has the right ending and it is painfully 90's
Tumblr media
6.Great Muppet Caper
Oooooh for putting this so low I might get some hate, but I shall explain .This is the most irreverant ,silly and funniest Mupppet movie,if you just want to laugh this is great .THis film is pure Henson wackyness, the film is not taking itself seriously at all.....And while I enjoy that.....I prefer a Muppet movie to have a bit more heart and story to go with the silly FOr me the characters, story and songs are a bit lacking .Again jokes are brillaint, performances are good (Charles Grodin looks like he is in LOVE with Miss Piggy and it is amazing) and it may have my favorite cameo in any Muppet movie .I do like the movie,I just like 5 others better
Tumblr media
5.Muppets Most Wanted
This film is VERY similar to Great Muppet Caper ,and while not funnier,I think its more solid .I adore the songs, especially the Big House ,I think the story is really good ,I love Sam and Ty Burrels chemistry ,the cameos are top notch ,Tina Fey as the Russian warden Nadya delivers one of the best human characters in all the Muppet movies and the film has possibly the best villain in all the Muppet movies in Constantine who is good mix of hilarious and threatening .Not all the effects worked and....I really wish someone else other then Ricky Gervais played the secondary villain Dominic Badguy.Overall though its an enjoyable film
Tumblr media
4.Muppets Take Manhatten
The one that surprised me .Of the orignal three its the one people dont talk about but ....I love it,its a bit more of a low key Muppet film ,ITs a much more character focused film. .The Dabney Coleman scene cracks me up,Saying Goodbye is tearjerking and the finale is spectacular
Tumblr media
3.Muppet Christmas Carol
A legit really good take on a Christmas Carol, possibly one of the best takes .The first film without Jim Henson ,and I think it showed the Muppets could survive .Less about the jokes and more about the heart and artistry while still having fun and humor . the Muppet performers are on top form, especially Gonzo and Rizzo as the narrators ,but the highlight of the film is honestly the phenomenal performance of Michael Caine as the coldhearted Scrooge ,giving off a legit good dramtic performance while talking to Puppets .Also the songs by Pqaul Williams are just top notch
Tumblr media
2.The Muppet Movie
The one that started it all,a heartwarming story about a bunch of weirdos coming together in pursuit of a dream, its sweet, its funny ,Paul Williams songs are great (Especially Im Going to Go Back There Some Day and Rainbow Connection),theres some fun cameos (Mel Brooks steals the show ) and Charles Durning gives an underrated performance as a psychotic fast food mogul
Tumblr media
1.Muppet Treasure Island
This....WAs one of the first movies I ever saw,and I have never stopped loving it .The muppet mayhem is funny(DEad Toms Dead always gets me ),its exciting ,the songs are all top notch ,and it has the best human cast with Kevin Bishop as the adventurous young Jim .Jennifer Saunders asa bombastic Inn owner,Billy Connolly as old drunkn pirate Billy Bones and the legend himself Tim Curry hamming it up as the villainous Long John Silver in perhaps his greatest performance ,cause he is equally great with the comedy as he is at delivering tender softer moments with Jim as a sort of surrogate father

Rain by Jocelyn Samara D.
webcomic page | Lulu
Tumblr media
Rain is a slice-of-life/comedy/drama that follows the life of a teenage trans girl named Rain, attempting to go through her senior year in high school identifying only as a woman. It's intended to be a comedy, but it will also touch on some heavy subjects including acceptance from family and peers, blind hatred, and many of the other difficulties faced by members of the LGBT community. Nevertheless, it is a largely positive story, with humor and tearjerking moments and lots and lots of love triangles.
Mod opinion: I haven't heard of this webcomic before, but it sounds like an interesting look into 2010 teen trans experience.

Broadcast News (1987)
Tumblr media
It never dawned on me that you might feel anxious during a romantic comedy until I watched Broadcast News. This film has strong opinions about what reporting should be, along with rich characters, big laughs, wonderful dialogue and a love triangle that keeps you wondering. It’s over 2 hours long but when it ends you’ll find yourself wishing for a director’s cut, or a sequel - anything to get even a little bit more.
At a news station in Washington, D.C., handsome and charismatic - but not particularly bright - Tom Grunick (William Hurt) is hired as a new anchorman. He’s the opposite of Aaron Altman (Albert Brooks), a talented writer-reporter who melts when placed in front of the camera. Aaron's best friend is Jane Craig (Holly Hunter), the station's intense and passionate news producer. She consistently manages to get things done just in the nick of time - but just barely. There’s always been a sort of unspoken agreement between Jane and Aaron but Tom's arrival - and her attraction to him - threatens to disrupt it.
In so many films, the characters have a job but their careers are little more than a way to move us from one gag to another or a backdrop. Writer, director, and producer James L. Brooks cares about broadcast news as much as he does the people in this film. He cares so much that Broadcast News can even be a little off-putting to audiences. While Aaron might admire Tom for his telegenic qualities and willingness to coach him, they're rivals. Not because both are attracted to Jane; because in Aaron’s eyes, Tom embodies everything wrong with “today’s news”. Tom is likable but as far as Aaron’s concerned, the news is about the news. The facts are all that matter, not the person(s) delivering them or how emotional the stories might be. He’s particularly critical of a story that Tom presents on date rape - to Aaron, it's soft news that's manipulative and beneath the station's attention. This is where the film started to lose me and might you as well. It’s a tearjerker of a story, and it’s well told… but it’s no report on the Sandinista rebels in Nicaragua. You can see Aaron's point but he seems so harsh about it that you just stop liking him altogether. I'd also argue that someone you might bump into on the street - no matter how “banal” their story might be - is much more likely to impact your existence than people living in a faraway country you will never visit, no matter what the political repercussions might be. Or maybe I'm just a dumb-dumb. There’s A LOT to unpack in that moment alone, that's for sure.
Broadcast News is filled with great dialogue. Tom may not be as sharp as his fellow reporters but he isn’t comedically stupid. There aren’t any scenes where he blunders lines like a doofus. We see that he isn’t the brightest bulb in the drawer because he can't answer the tough questions. We don’t need to be told that Aaron is smart or that Jane is talented. We see it, we hear it. They feel real, which makes you interested in them. Their emotions are amplified by the romance that thread together all of the insights into this professional world.
You might not like Aaron very much because he’s kind of a jerk with an inflated ego but to be fair, he’s extremely talented and it’s hard not to feel your heart break a bit when you see him disappointed - a testament to Albert Brooks' skill as a performer. Holly Hunter has excellent chemistry with both her co-stars. Even on her own, she’s great and often funny in the most unexpected ways. Her first emotional breakdown is so offputting you’re not sure how you should feel. By the time we get to the third, you can’t help but laugh. Do these happen every day?! As for William Hurt, he's charismatic but there's a part of him that's slightly... not quite sinister, not quite slimy, but off-putting. You want to see more. When these people open up their hearts, you have no idea who Jane is going to end up with because you’re not sure who you like best - the mark of a great love triangle.
Although I can’t say that I immediately fell in love with Broadcast News, it intrigues me. I'm still trying to figure out how I feel about these people and these situations. I don’t think one viewing is enough, and I mean that in a good way. (May 20, 2022)

listening to the long form story break episodes rn but do you have any recs for the short ones?
Well here's the episodes that I go back and relisten to the most. because i'm me it tends to be the horror ones but some of them also just have the funniest moments or they made a good movie.
TOP TIER BEST EPISODES:
111. What's Eating Gilbert Grape - Genuinely my fave episode and the movie i want to exist the most, where they make a gay gothic romance set in the vineyards of napa valley. tw for like child death and cannibalism and general gothic horror elements.
109. n o t h i n g - The funniest episode, i've listened to it dozens of times and still have parts that make me laugh til i can't breathe. i don't usually relisten to the actual movie part though because tw for a lot of talk about cat death, but the preamble to them settling on their final idea and their detour through weird penis and/or death related art projects are one of the funniest bits of podcasting i've ever heard and matt arnold is obviously the comedy god of this entire crew.
and then just some really good episodes that I've relistened to:
70. Heaven Heist - maybe the most iconic episode and if you're listening to the long form episodes then i assume you already know it but the one where they originally break the story is just so good that it must be listed here.
76. Tearjerker - Probably the best one for dndads fans since it 1. has Beth May as a guest and 2. tells a horror story about the cycle of bad fatherhood. tw for discussions of abuse and toxic masculinity
90. Bird Box - Them trying to crack their own version of bird box when they realize none of them have seen it. tons of funny bits and a pretty interesting final product about family. tw for child endangerment & some minor mentions of animal death
102. Sensory Deprivation Horror Movie - another one with a lot of funny bits, they try to create their own quiet place or bird box movie focused around one of the other major senses.
104. First - where they make a movie about inheriting a youtube empire because you commented first on a video, but it somehow becomes a sci-fi thriller
106. Disney Endgame - they're tasked with laying the groundwork for the next big step: an entire disney-owned cinematic universe. really wild especially the elevator pitch which is one of the funniest that they've done.
122. Pixar's Shoes - where they create an inspiring and formulaic pixar film about a random object, with some bits that almost put me in tears laughing
123. Halmark Movie Bonanza - just trying to use their hour runtime to quickly make as many hallmark christmas movies as possible which is absolute gold if youre as intimately familiar with the hallmark channel as i sadly am
139. Disney Channel Original Movie Marathon - Another one that i might just like because of my extreme familiarity with the source material, but this is a really funny one where they look at DCOM posters and try to make up the movie that it must be with no extra information. one of the movies they make is a ghost based lesbian surfing movie that i desperately wish was real.
and there's honestly a ton of other really funny episodes but these are just the ones i go back to the most. i do recommend being liberal about skipping episodes though like there is no shame in deciding to go to the next episode if they start the "full 5 act structure plan" phase of the episode and you're not into the story. that's the beauty of this being an episodic show lol

i have more questions 😈 (will ask the next one in another ask)
favorite single moment of monogatari so far? if it's too hard to narrow down, can also be like, favorite funny moment, favorite tearjerking moment, favorite heartwarming moment, etc....
OH this...is actually a pretty easy one to answer! But I like the idea of breaking them down into individual moments so...here we go!
Favorite Funny Moment - This one is so hard to narrow down so i'll list a few but. Koyomi and Kanbaru frolicking in her yaoi books while "cleaning" KILLS me every time and seeing a gif of it is what inspired my current rewatch. It's only a few seconds but it and the ost bakaloleet is just a one two punch combo to make me crack up. The fact it's preceded by Koyomi being so distracted by the mess that he felt the need to clean someone ELSE'S house for them. Comedy gold. I love just about every moment of these two being frat bro idiots together.
Tumblr media
And this is. Gonna sound really stupid but, it's based on a joke one of the boys told. It's this fucking frame from episode 3 of Bake. (Which is also one of my favorite episodes from the whole series.)
Tumblr media
Trevor was out of nowhere like "Well they've sat on the teeter totter together, now they have to get together", followed by a hypothetical of the crab god telling her
Crab: "Because of your self realization, I will give you your weight back. Also you're going to marry the next boy you sit on the teeter totter with."
Hitagi: "Huh?"
[the next day]
Hitagi: "Shit."
And it's just spiraled from there. It came up again in Otorimonogatari when Koyomi finds Nadeko in that park.
Nadeko: "Oh Koyomi-oniichan, before we leave, do you want to sit on the teeter totter with m-"
Koyomi: "Nonono, I already fell for that once. Let's get going."
Favorite Tearjerking Moment - I think this one somewhat also overlaps with heartwarming moment? But I have a very specific one in mind to mention after this. But for this i'd have to say...the finale of Nekomonogatari White...the final culmination of Hanekawa coming to terms with herself...ALL parts of herself, Black Hanekawa and Kako, and finally, finally confessing her feelings for Koyomi out loud to be rejected, so she can begin moving on from this part of her life and healing....when she just finally cries and lets it all out I couldn't help but cry with her...
Tumblr media
And as for my favorite Heartwarming Moment, which in a way I think is still my Favorite Moment of the whole series is...
Tumblr media
"That's Deneb, Altair, Vega. The famous great summer triangle..."
Just, the whole of Episode 12 is such a gem. The dynamic that Hitagi and Koyomi have is such a treasure, and their first date was so well earned. It's SO sweet that she wanted to take him to a place that was so important to her as a kid for their first real date. The gentle piano, the gorgeous night sky they painted, Koyomi losing himself in the moment and her words...it's all so sweet. And then a moment that I didn't remember from when I was a teen. Koyomi and Hitagi have a serious discussion about the fact she was sexually assaulted as a kid, and how it could impact their relationship. Koyomi just holding her hand and listening. And the just...the raw acceptance and love they both share for each other in this moment.
I think this is the moment that now, all these years later, this journey went from "I wanna rewatch something silly I saw as a kid" to "Oh. I think this is something really, really special."

hiii, i saw your post about watching your comfort episodes of chicago fire and i was curious… what are your comfort episodes?
ooo thank you for the ask, i always love getting to talk about my favourite episodes!! for me the term comfort episode doesn’t mean an episode that actually brings me comfort as most of these wouldn’t exactly fall under that category but these are simply the ones i enjoy the most on my rewatches, whether it be for the action, the excitement or whatnot…
(and yes most of these are going to have reasonings behind them that involve otis… i know, shocking)
starting with season one:
‘Two Families’ - otis’s podcast! that’s it, that’s the reason, getting to hear his little monologue at the end is everything to me and i wish his podcast was a real thing
‘A Coffin That Small’ - i know this isn’t exactly a “comforting” episode but it’s such a good one, between herrmann, mouch and boden being a comedy trio, to the tearjerker that is the end, i just love it
‘A Hell of a Ride’ - prison riot. that’s it. that’s all
when it comes to season two… literally the entire season is like a comfort to me… we’ve got great otis content not to mention mr jeff clarke… but if i had to pick some episodes i’d have to choose:
‘Tonight’s the Night’ - do i need to explain it? it’s literally full of so much excitement
‘A Dark Day’ - what can i say? I love a good incident like this is tv shows
season three:
‘Just Drive the Truck’ - two words… otis’s smile - that it… the smile he has when he gets to drive the truck makes me 🥰🥰 but also it’s just a really great episode too
Tumblr media
‘Chopper’ - again, i love shit like this in shows!!! just feed it directly into my veins but also… arms!
Tumblr media
‘Santa Bites’ - i know this must seem like a strange one but i just really enjoy it… that scene with boden going on about little terrance’s name to otis is so funny and idk i just really like this one
‘I Am Apocalypse’ - again, i love for the drama and just shit like this in general so it’s a fave
I can’t remember exactly what episode it is when otis gets his time to shine at the elevator scene, but yeah… that one
Tumblr media
when it comes to season 4 i have some… grievances i guess, mainly because they decided to make otis have a crush on sylvie?? idk to me that’s so weird and out of character for him when she’s literally his best friends ex, but whatever, i just choose to ignore it when i watch it… but anyway, regarding episodes:
‘When Tortoises Fly’ - need i say more??
‘The Sky is Falling’ - i don’t know if it’s intensive to say i enjoy this episode but i think it was really great and handled super well and idk, again, i really enjoy dramatic and scary, i guess, episodes
‘The Last One for Mom’ - god this episode breaks my heart every time but it’s just so good
season 5:
‘Nobody Else is Dying Today’ - great casey episode not to mention the little side plot with otis and his ‘mission to mars’ or whatever, also i loved the whole part with sylvie and mouch writing their book, such an underrated duo in my opinion
‘Purgatory’ - otis at the hotel fire… that’s all
‘Deathtrap’ - again, i love big fires etc that take up most of the episode and this happens to be one of them (don’t like the crossovers though as the whole premise of why the fire happened was so stupid to me)
season six isn’t my favourite, mainly because of the shit otis had to go through, i mean… why have him go through the trauma of being shot only to kill him off a season later? literally makes no sense, so yeah, i have no favourites in s6 but there are some fun moments throughout that i enjoy, i just can’t remember them right now lmao
moving on to season 7:
‘Going to War’ - my all time favourite episode / crossover (not pd tho as idk, i’m just not a fan of chicago pd) but yeah, such a good episode and a great amount of otis (even if he is being traumatised, my poor baby)
‘This isn’t Charity’ - grenades! freaking grenades, that’s so cool
‘It Wasn’t About Hockey’ - what’s not to love? the girls being badasses, the guys and their chili cook off? top tier episode
‘Until the Weather Breaks’ - i love when there’s bad weather/storms in shows so this episode had me in my element!! not to mention detective otis sussing out the guy with the gun… that’s my baby!!🥰
and then it’s so funny how the show just ends at season 7 and everyone lives happily ever after?? like how strange was that??
anyway sorry for such a long post but i never have anyone irl to talk to about this show so forgive me for wanting to express my opinions where i know they’ll be enjoyed(?) is that right word? idk appreciated maybe but whatever, i’ll stop talking now
(ask me more stuff!!)

In Sickness and In Health - Finding the Fun
When you said in sickness and in health, you probably pictured a sniffle or maybe a slight fever, but then life throws a curveball...
In today's episode, we're tackling the topic of taking care of an ill husband and getting our final paperwork in order. It's important stuff & we're here to provide answers and a dose of humor for those navigating this challenging situation.
Picture this: your DIY superstar husband suddenly becomes the patient and you're the nurse. It's not as easy as those wedding vows made it seem, but through the trials of healthcare, we can learn to love each other even more. So how do we make the best of it? Well, first things first, kick Doctor Google out of the house. Not every sneeze is a rare disease. Stick to real doctors and limit the WebMD visits.
Next, channel your inner chef. Use this time to experiment with new recipes and maybe even turn making soup into an Olympic sport.  And when it comes to entertainment, Netflix and chill becomes literal. Balance tearjerkers with comedies, because emotional cardio is a thing. Plus, it's a chance for quality together time.
Get ready to learn a whole new vocabulary too. Medical terms will become your household jargon, and it's okay to laugh at the struggles of pronouncing them.
Oh, and pajamas! Find some funny PJs for your hubby to bring a smile to his face. And let's not forget patience! Amidst the chaos, there are countless moments to be thankful for. So if you find yourself in this situation, or know someone who is, we've got your back.
And the grown up homework needs to be done - now. Wills, powers of attorney, advanced healthcare directives - oh my!! Now is the time to complete them all,  and treat yourself when they're finished!
Thank you for joining me today!
I'm having a blast creating Fabulous Over 50 & it would be an honor to have you share it with someone who would enjoy it. Thank you!

Kiss it Better
A LA POEM Kihun fanfic by AbsentCaryatid
Living with the friend you have a crush on is made far more difficult by Kihun's habit of platonically kissing your minor injuries that seem to occur very frequently.
1.6K words, Content note: teen rating, gender neutral reader, minor injuries briefly mentioned, food
~
Kihun was so easy to like and that was the problem. His quick laugh and demonstrative behavior had you falling for him quickly once assigned seats side by side in chorus. Your senior year of high school had gone quickly as you pined for your newfound friend, with Kihun none the wiser.
Things only got worse in college. His musical aptitude was far greater than yours, and while you ended up at the same university, your studies led elsewhere with no classes in common. You still saw him often though since roommate after roommate tired of the way he would start singing unintentionally. Kihun was never quiet about it despite his otherwise polite nature. You charitably saw it as his dedication to music and suggested he move in with you after the next break. After some initial hesitation, he took you up on the offer.
It was not that Kihun was a bad roommate, in fact you loved sporadically hearing his angelic voice. Even deep in study, Kihun's music would reach your ears and you would look up from the textbooks for a much-needed break. Listening with your eyes closed, you could not help but relax and smile. The effects would linger making homework easier and you could not imagine ever living apart from him again. There were other ways Kihun won your heart as well, you were particularly taken by the affectionate way he would grab your arm while laughing at a joke.
It also felt good to have someone to cook for. Something as simple as pigs in a blanket was met with rave reviews since his favorite food was the similar spiral wrapped corn dogs he liked to get from the rest area when traveling between Seoul and your mutual hometown of Busan. Kihun was always appreciative, and it charmed you the way he would bounce with excitement whenever you announced the evening menu. Often he would be at your side, ready to help taste as you went along. The recipes were mostly familiar ones, so the assistance was never needed, but you loved his warm company and never considered chasing him away.
Another benefit was the shared interest in dramas. Kihun had introduced you to one of his favorites, I am Sorry, I Love You, and that tearjerker led you to recommend the Shah Rukh Khan version of Devdas. It only made sense you'd hold hands for comfort at the tense parts or fall into each other's side sniffling. He also loved fantasies and romantic comedies. Next he shared My Love From the Star leading to your choice of Paheli which he enjoyed as well. Nights by the television then became a frequent routine that was a highlight of your week. Sad moments often led to Kihun clinging, which you did not object to at all.
Kihun must have agreed the two of you were a good partnership because he renewed the joint lease each year, remaining at your side despite a further commute to the next school he attended to continue his music studies. You certainly did not mind the singing, and he was an exemplary housemate in all ways but one. If you were romantic partners you would have found it endearing the way he offered to 'kiss it better' any time you knocked your hand or bruised a shin. It meant nothing of course. It was just caring and effusive Kihun being himself. You were weak enough not to tell him how affected you were while he applied a bag of frozen dumplings followed by a distracting movie cuddled closely on the couch.
The first time it had happened was way back in high school. Swearing lightly under your breath, you winced at a paper cut from some choral sheet music you had picked up. Leaning over with concern, Kihun kissed it better before you could object due to shyness. He was apologetic at first, mentioning he had picked up the habit comforting his young cousins while babysitting.
The smile on your face confirmed he had not overstepped your boundaries as a friend. From then on it had become automatic, going both ways, though you were by far the clumsier when compared to your graceful housemate. Over the years Kihun kissed bee stings, cabinet bumps on the top of your head, scrapes, blisters, and plenty of other minor injuries. If you had not felt secure in skillfully hiding your crush, you would have feared it looked like fishing for affection at the rate you needed tending to. Fortunately, he never seemed to mind the caring but purely platonic gesture.
Life went on while quietly longing for your friend. Kihun dated sporadically, never bringing anyone home or staying the night. He always said his heart was elsewhere, which you understood having seen his commitment to his studies. The practice room was Kihun's true love if the amount of time he spent there was any indication. He took all critiques of his voice to heart and further crafted it into an extraordinary instrument worthy of a global stage.
You were not the only one who thought so. You had jumped for joy along with him when Kihun learned he had passed the audition for Phantom Singer 3. That led to forming LA POEM with three other lovely men you got to know a little. Chaehoon, Sunghoon, and Minseong each had traits that would have gotten your interest if your heart was not already hopelessly fixed.
With a busy practice and performance schedule, you saw Kihun less and less, and you felt his absence hard. It was the closest you ever came to telling him how much he truly meant to your happiness. Of course, now that he had fans screaming for him, you knew it was far too late. Kihun could have his pick of partners, and probably would be moving out so he could enjoy some of the benefits of that fame in the privacy of a place of his own.
Kihun had never said anything, but you were resigned that moving on seemed a certainty at this point. Trying to enjoy any remaining time together, you planned a special dinner to mark the occasion of LA POEM's first tour of the country. Aggressively cutting vegetables to work out your feelings, you worked hard to create a variety of gimbap for him, including his favorite- the egg showcasing version gyori gimbap. The prep work and emotional strain had you tired out, so it was no surprise that by dinnertime your weariness caused you to bite your lip while eating, causing an audible complaint.
Habitually, Kihun offered to kiss it to make it better without knowing the location of your pain. He then blanched at the automatic wording once he saw you holding a hand to your mouth while grimacing.
You were too busy fishing an ice cube from the water glass to notice his face. Years of pent-up longing came to the surface while your inhibitions were lowered by the long day. “I've always wished you would.”
His breath caught. Kihun asked, “Are you sure? If you let me kiss you romantically, I don't think I'd ever stop.”
Your eyes went wide at the implication of the conversation. Had Kihun been attracted to you too over all the years together? A response again slipped out without a thought, “I wouldn't ever want you to stop.”
The effect of your admission on Kihun was immediate. He closed the distance between you slowly and placed the gentlest of kisses on your sore lip.
Given the circumstances of the recent injury, one single kiss was enough for now and you smiled tenderly, the look matching his own. “It is not all better, but it is close.”
“Has romance has been an option all this time? We didn't talk about it, but when you never dated I concluded you were aromantic. I never believed you could want me despite desiring that very much. Wanting to be respectful, I never brought it up.” Kihun took one hand in his and looked at you with nothing but love. “All this time, I have not just been practicing music. It is more that I cannot help singing love songs around you.” His grin told you Kihun picked up the adoration in your own tearing up eyes. “I'd like to kiss you again, but we can come back to that after you have healed. Up for another drama tonight instead?”
Something familiar was just what you needed after such an emotional moment. Once dinner was over you brought plates of dessert to the living room. As Kihun searched for mutual favorite Crash Landing On You, one of his arms was slung around your shoulder while your head rested against him. The closeness reminded you to mention a fact you had encountered online. “You know, the leads fell in love in real life after spending so much time together on this show.”
With a smile Kihun admitted he could see how something like that could happen. Again the hint he already loved you warmed your heart. Turning to face Kihun again, you pointed to your lips and asked him to keep working on your minor ache. Happily taking up the challenge, Kihun did indeed kiss it better until plans for the drama were long forgotten. In later days you would begin the talk of relationship labels and hopes for a shared future, but for now truly romantic kisses were enough to start.

My Top 5 Netflix Originals.
A while back, I started a new series on my YouTube channel; sharing my top 5 favourite things from a range of topics.
I wanted to kick off this series, by sharing my top 5 favourite Netflix originals. Netflix has such an amazing and interesting variety, that are suitable for a huge range of people - there's something for everyone. I'm a bit of a Netflix junkie and I like to watch a multitude of genres. When a new film or series comes out, I always give it a watch! That's why I'm so hooked on Netflix Originals (it feels like I'm in an exclusive club) and want to share my favourites with you.
In this blog post, I've sort of condensed what I spoke about in my YouTube video, in case you're more of a reader. Of course, if you want to watch my video instead or watch it as well as reading this, it will be linked at the bottom of this post.
So, let's get right into it. I've chosen 5 different genres and my favourite movie/series within each one. I hope you enjoy my choices!
Tumblr media
THRILLER
I'm partial to a good thriller. I started off with this genre, simply because it is my favourite. I love feeling an adrenaline rush when I watch them and I always have to have a snack handy, to help me through the super intense moments, to save my poor fingernails.
My all-time fave Netflix Original thriller has to be Bird Box. If you haven't seen it yet, you've probably heard about it, because it became a meme (and I still find them funny).
I won't say too many details about the storyline in this blog post (you could check out my video if you are interested though - hint hint), but it's what I would call a psychological thriller and a film that can be interpreted in many different ways. Not much is given away in this film, which is why I found it so interesting to watch.
Basically, there are these "monsters", which are not really shown throughout this movie. If the characters see them, they... perish, to put it lightly.
I have read multiple times, that viewers were annoyed by the fact you couldn't see the creatures, but I think that made it even more fascinating! It lets you decide, in your mind, what they looked like and because the monsters may not have a true form; they appeared how the individual perceived them to be (for me it would probably look like Pennywise or Pyramid Head from Silent Hill) *shudders*.
Tumblr media
COMEDY
Dumplin' is everything I enjoy about a good old cheesy rom-com, musical drama and your typical coming-of-age movie. All my guilty pleasures rolled into one and I'm not afraid to show some emotions and have a laugh… and also a cry when watching.
Dumplin' exceeded all of my expectations and for being a plus-sized girl myself, I strongly agree with the message that this Netflix original conveys.
I had a really strong connection with the protagonist, Willowdean Dickson aka Dumplin', portrayed by Danielle Macdonald. I know how it feels to compare yourself to others when being a larger girl. You feel restricted in what you want to do, by the doubts in your mind and how others perceive you, but sometimes you need to say "screw it" and do it anyway. To prove yourself and others wrong.
Break the rules and the mould that society has force-fed us to believe in.
Drag queens, Dolly Parton, Jennifer Aniston and big girl power? What more could I ask for in one movie?
Tumblr media
SERIES
What's better than finding a new series on Netflix, snacks at the ready and binge-watching the entire series (or two) in record time?
The Netflix Original series "Happy" is spot on for moments like these.
It has such a unique concept that I’ve never seen in a show before; the mixture of realism and computer-generated characters is incredible. The acting is so raw and natural as well… and not, all at the same time? It's crazy and mind-blowing!
Happy is so over the top and bizarre, with some badass moments and a few tearjerkers as well. It’s all of the emotions, with a storyline that's easy to follow.
It keeps you hooked right from the beginning.
Tumblr media
DOCUMENTARY
Documentaries are my guilty pleasure.
I find them fascinating in so many ways. From analysing the people involved and how their minds work to becoming my very own judge, jury and executioner as the stories unravel.
In this case (ha, literally), my favourite Netflix Original “Docu-series", as they're also known, is The Staircase. Again, I won't give too much away in this blog post, but I believe there is so much more information to be revealed in this case and a lot of evidence that hasn't been discovered (or maybe it's being hidden?).
It leaves a cliffhanger and unlike other documentaries that I've seen, there still isn't a definitive answer or conclusion. It left me feeling, well… a bit p'd off if I'm being honest!
Did he do it? Watch it and decide for yourselves…
Tumblr media
CARTOON
I love a good cartoon that makes me laugh until my belly aches.
I also love a cartoon that’s made for a more adult sense of humour, because we adults enjoy cartoons too! I grew up with some classics, such as all of the Nickelodeon shows on the good old 90’s television, so it’s really refreshing to have some more mature cartoon content to watch on Netflix and not having to be on the “kids” tab to do so!
For me, Big Mouth has some cringe-worthy humour; it’s so weird that it makes you laugh (possibly out of awkwardness) and you can’t stop watching. I can remember saying “wtf” a few times throughout the duration of Big Mouth, yet I continued to watch and ended up being obsessed with it.
Tumblr media
I hope you like and enjoy my choices! If you've seen them, let me know your favourites in the comments and also send me your recommendations.
I'm a Netflix addict, so the more shows for me to binge, the better!
Thanks for reading (and watching, if you check out my video, linked below)

Disney Month : Mary Poppins
For the second installment of Disney month ,we are gonna look at a film considered Disneys masterpiece ,Mary Poppins,in a special review requested by @the-blue-fairie ,that I had decided to postpone till Disney month
Tumblr media
This 1964 film follows the Banks family who recieve a magical nanny in the form of Mary Poppins (Julie Andrews ) ,who along with Jack of All Trades,Bert (Dick Van Dyke) leads the Banks children on many an outlandish outing to the frustration of the very serious minded patriarch,George Banks (David Tomlinson )
....What do I even say about this movie, its very much beloved and seen as Walt Disneys magnum opus....And I agree, its a great movie, while Ive never been head over heels for it , I do love this movie ,its in my top 10 I think of favorite Disney movies ,top 20 at least .
I think the best way to describe the film is just magical .Part of that magic is the effects ,where they decided to use every trick in the book ,from beautiful matte paintings by the great Peter Ellenshaw ,to animatronics,to stop motion ,to a spectacular animated sequence .In fact I love the magical set pieces which include having a tea party on the ceiling ,climbing smoke above London , and the aforementioned scene where the leads enter an ilustration
I like the flexible reality of the film ,like Mary Poppins isnt just magic the world is a little diffrent. This is a world where when you laugh you float ,chimney sweeps are seeminly magic , and aguy runs his house like a shipand fires a canon everyday and no one bats an eye .I also like we dont get an explination of who Mary Poppins is nor really of who Bert is ,they are just these magical characters (Well Mary is,in this film it is ambiguious if Bert is )who help guide the kids and Mr Banks
Also the cast is just amazing filled with great performers.Filled with really great veteren peroformers, such as Elsa Lanchester as a failed nanny ,Reginald Owen as the aptly named Admiral Boom .Jane Darwell in her final role as the kindly bird woman , and Ed Wynn as the giggling Uncle Albert .Also I like supporting performances by Hermonie Baddley and Arthur Malet ( Who funny enough both would go on to be in the Secret Of NIMH )
Lets talk about the 4 top billed performers ,starting with the one who gets the least amount of screen time Glynis Johns as Winifred Banks, who is a suffragette. I like her performance ,and her song Sister Suffragette is catchy as hell ....But I'm confused if movie is pro suffragette,or mocking suffragettes .I have asked people and looked into it and no one seems to be able to tell ,especially with the ending of her character .I kind oif whish they went a little bit more into her character
David Tomlinson as George Banks ,is the most interesting aspect of the film ,and possibly my favorite performance in the film .In the years since this film the workaholic dad has become a trope ,and usuallly it is done pretty lazily ,but with Banks his problem he has a very rigid narrow way of seeing .He is obsessed with his well ordered little world, that he has become oblivious to not only the emotions of his loved ones but also taking life for granted ,illustrated thorugh the bird woman which leads to possibly the biggest tearjerker in the film .DAvid Tomlinson delivers one hell of a performance ,he nails the snooty repressed banker ,but also nails the befuddled comedy and above all the kind of heartbreaking side of the character as well as having moments of joy .I think he is severely underrated .Also Tomlinson does a few voice roles in the film and he does them realy well
Now while Tomlinson gives the best performance .....I think my favorite character is Bert . Berts a guy with a song in his heart and sunshine in his soul and he is perfect character to play off Mary .Bert is the heart of the film ,while Mary Poppins lays the groundwork for aiding the Banks family,it is Bert ,through two beautiful scenes who gets the ball rolling who helps the children understand their father, the father understand his children . Hes also the comic relief of the film being both goofy but heartfelt ,and Dick Van Dyke is brillaint a t both .ALso in the dance scenes ,HOLY COW ,Dick Van Dyke can move ,and he has great chemistry with Julie Andrewa. Dick Van Dyke also has a second role in the film as the main antagonist Mr Dawes Sr ,who is the verrrrrrrrrrrrrrrry elderly boss of George Banks. Not quite a villain ,I wouldnt call him evil but he is a money obsessed old man,he is very much a comical antagonist (Though as a child he creeped me out a tiny bit ) ,and Van Dyke really pulls of a convincing old man performance ,one of my favorite double performances in film
What can I even say about Julie Andrews ,she won a much deserved oscar for this film and it made her a movie star .I find it funny that parodies often depict Mary Poppins as very sweet and this along with Sound of Music gave Julie Andrews a very sugary reputation.....Cause if you watch the movie, while the film is sentimental , Mary Poppins herself is not sugary ,shes very stern,no nonesnese , and a bit cold ,which is a perfect contrast to her more whimsical moments and her magical nature . Also I like that she plants ideas and get characters in position to where they can learn what they need to
The Songs are all brillaint, written by the Sherman Brothers ,there are 15 so I cant talk about them all .Plus several of the songs like Chim Chiminey , Spoonfull of Sugar and Supercalifragelisticexpialidocious are disney classics ,I dont even need to discuss them .I'll talk about my favorite later ,but I'd the most beautiful song is Feed the Birds ,my favorite deep cut is A Man Has Dreams , and the most fun song is I love to laugh, and Jolly Holiday is just very pleasent
I only have nitpicks really :I mentioned the depctions of suffragettes feels confused , but also I think the kid protagonists Jane and Michael are just OK ,I do not like the song Dont Fall Asleep ,and Stepping Time goes on a little too long ....Also Berts cockney accent is very bad .....But I kind of love it
Alright QUESTION TIME ! QUESTION TIME ! @the-blue-fairie has asked me three questions
1-What is your favorite aspect of Julie Andrews' performance?
Anytime she denies the magical stuff she does is friggin funny to me
2-What are your thoughts on Mr. Banks' character arc and what do you think are the strongest elements of Tomlinson's performance?
I think it is a great arc and my favorite part is just how vulnerable he is before the big change. The streach of film starting with A Man Has Dreams and ending at his leaving Mr Dawes office is my favorite part of the film in general ,but specifically his facial expressions as he listens to Bert and realizes his shortcomings as a dad
3-This may be lamely simple but - favorite song and why? :D
Oh god it WAS NOT SIMPLE.I had 15 songs to choose from and picking which one was hard .....Then I remembered the one I loved the most as a child, the one I would sing in moments of joy, cause it is so joyus :Lets Go Fly a Kite
youtube
OVerall....This is one of the greats.....Please watch it if you havent

Moral Orel and Bojack Horseman are the only cartoons that I have seen pull off straight drama/tearjerkers well.  The Simpsons and Futurama try but Matt Groening’s dramatic writing is too emotionally manipulative and cheap and sappy and yeah it gets the tear but it robs you at gunpoint for it and is quickly forgotten, where the tragic aspects of Morel Orel or Bojack are directly tied to the consistent and well-developed flaws of the characters and not just “Dead dog sad go brrrrrrr” (even the dead dog episode of Moral Orel is well-written and consistent with the brutal meanness of the rest of the show, not just some random outlier to make you feel like shit when you thought you were about to watch a comedy).  Also the dramatic moments on Moral Orel and Bojack fit the tone of the show, the sad episodes of futurama/simpsons just feel like Matt sat down and said to himself “Now it’s time we do a sad one, bet they won’t expect THAT from a comedy”
