A Linked Universe meets The Dark Crystal AU! I don't even remember what started it at this point. I remembered that the Dark Crystal and Age of Resistance are things I like, blinked, and woke up three days later with an AU and a bunch of art.
The designs and the story are a wip and for fun so expect a lot of variation! (I have a few different beginnings, ideas for different designs, etc)! :D
In addition to #linked universe I'll be using the tags #the dark crystal lu au and #courage of the dark crystal!

i have a question for you feel free to ignore though I don’t want to bother you
do you know any ressource or anyone who’s knowledgeable in terms of spec evo words? uhm, like more global ones anyone could use. I’m just getting started but my grasp on biology is p basic
if that helps I’m doing something with aliens and im hitting a block referring to similar aliens as mammals or plants bc that’s very earth things
i really like your blog btw ok bye
I don't know of one but maybe some of my followers/mutuals have a good resource?
I will say I don't think you're going to find specific universal terms for classes of alien animals akin to "mammal" "reptile" etc.- people make those up for their own individual stories in the same way they make up names for their original species. You could identify a specific trait that your aliens have that sets them apart from other animals on the same planet (like having no eyes or bony spines or giving live birth or whatever) and give them a name based on that, or you could just make up a fun word that sounds like something you might call a group of animals

Hey you all know Tolkien's orcs did not invent modern industry right? It's important to me that you know this, the orcs within Tolkien's books are either enslaved or soulless automatons depending on which origin you read about them. All industry that occurs within mordor and isengard comes from the minds of Sauron, Saruman and any number of 'evil' human servants, plans which are then monotonously enacted by the orcs but without understanding or control. The Last Ringbearer is a cool fanfic but it does not represent the reality of the orcs as presented in-world, they are explicitly a so called 'tribal' and 'barbaric' 'creature' that supposedly invents nothing of worth and cannot survive without raiding other so called 'good' races. The much-mentioned conversation between the two orcs in Cirith Ungol about their discontent (whilst noteworthy) does still involve their plans to become bandits together, the only possible path for them. Many orcs are so dependant upon the control of Sauron that they kill themselves upon his defeat. Like I love the effort to excavate orcs from their grim origin, but you do not have to attempt to pretend Tolkien was being less racist than he was to do that. He may have been extremely against modernity, but the theme of modernity's hubris in his books is one exclusive to the powerful, enlightened and 'fallen' humans and maia. And orcs are a race presented as so 'base' and without merit that there is nowhere for them to fall from, hubris is simply not a part of their canon narrative.

you know, an interpretation of ct that I don't see that I personally really love is that she's a fuck up. like yes she's cool and she has some good fight scenes, but a huge part of her character is that she makes mistakes. the mistakes that she makes are ones that on their own aren't the end of the world, but she keeps making these little mistakes, and they eventually add up until she's out of room to make any more.
a really good example of this phenomenon in action is the actions she took leading up to her final confrontation with carolina and tex.
strike one, she thought she saw something in the water, but when asked by the leader what it was, she brushed it off as nothing when even if it had been nothing, it would've been smart to tell him what she thought she saw.
strike two, she didn't sense or notice florida's presence when the leader did, and she looks at the leader twice, once as she pulled out her magnums, and again after she did a scan of the room, almost like she was looking at him for guidance before he finds florida and takes him out with one good axe throw.
strike three, she couldn't convince the leader to leave when they had the chance to get away, and her cheap tricks were not enough to hold off either tex or carolina in a fight. they were only good for incapacitating her opponents enough for her to get away, which doesn't work when she has no escape.
ct is not tex, or carolina, or south. she is not a one woman army who can get herself out of trouble when she's stuck in tough situations. she needs people who can watch her back, she need a team who can cover her when she does mess up, and the leader and his team were not those people. she couldn't bring herself to trust them, and they couldn't bring themselves to trust her, and that cost all of them their lives.

The “Michael and Lucifer are brothers” came other media having the two be twins. Especially the Netflix Lucifer tv show and the DC comics by Neil Gaiman that the tv show is based on.
Someone giving me an excuse to blabber on about my thoughts and ideas? That only happens in my daydreams! Also I just realized it's spelled Michael not Micheal oop-
I feel like everything can be traced back to Neil Gaiman in someway. Thank you Mr. Gaiman, for giving me more goofy but sad angels.
I haven't seen The TV show or the DC comics, but just the idea alone of these two being twins was enough to make me flesh out Michael's personality and the relationship between the two.

Just kidding : ) Michael wouldn't question Sera, he obeys orders with a morbidly unquestioning loyalty.
I imagine that Michael was the more responsible one, and would try to discourage Lucifer's ideas and dreams, but Lucifer tended to ignore him. Lucifer would cause some kind of havoc, and Michael would be the one to tell the angels. Luci 100% saw him as a buzzkill and a tattletale, and Michael knew his brother was a safety hazard with wings, but I think they still loved eachother.
Which is why it would both break them to have Michael be the one who battled Lucifer and forced him into Hell. Lucifer felt horribly betrayed, and Michael would have been trying to cope with the fact that he drove his own brother out.
I have many ideas for them, so little time to write :(

Spicy take: I'm starting to think that the concept of "trickster" is about just as meaningful as the concept of Hero's Journey.
Sure, you can fit a lot of stories into it and some were written with that specific archetype in mind but also it conflates Joker, Odysseus, Br'er Rabit and Slavic folktales protagonists and I don't think these should belong in the same category.
Boundary crossing can be done for many reasons and in many ways. The need to lump all such characters into a single category says more about our over-reliance on rigid structures, the lack of play in our culture and a desperate need for something else.

i'm trying to understand why there is this assumption that bertha will disapprove marian as her daughter in law. i know there's a lot of talk about larian being some kind of romeo and juliet, but even though bertha and agnes dispises each other, bertha never disliked marian actually it was quite the opposite. the only thing that could make bertha disaprove their union is that marian is peniless, but her position in society (coming from a old money family with a lot of conections) is more importan since larry is already rich (also marian is probably ada's heir now she isn't poor anymore). anyway to close this off carrie coon already said recently that bertha even admires marian sense of independency. so we don't know what will happen but until now there's no reason to think that bertha will be against their marrige
