Oh, it's a shame that it isn't a multiple choice!
I usually play as FemShep, and in this situation I really like Garrus' romance route. However, if I wasn't a silly little gamer that HAS to replay one playthrough with a particular character over and over, Kaidan's romance is really good and I think that especially with paragon Shep their personalities could resonate with each other nicely. Thane is not really my cup of tea, maybe because it has to end in a tragedy and I like to give my Sheps something that gives a small spark of hope for a good ending, but I respect that.
If I'd play with MShep, while I really like Tali as a character, I think I'd actually be torn between choosing her romance route and Jack's. It seems to me like Jack's route is wildly underrated and it doesn't have as much content as some of the others, but I like how dynamic it is and boy, that character has layers. I especially see an Earthborn Shep being an interesting combination with Jack's backstory and a Colonist or Spacer Shep being a good pair for Tali. I like Ashley too, and it warms my heart to see her happy. I think I personally like her better as Shepard's friend, but that may have to do with experiencing ME1 playing as FemShep for the first time. I don't think I'd be able to sit and watch Miranda's romance route with a straight face, the developers tried to make her so ridicoulously sexy it's borderline funny. Doesn't mean that I don't like her as a character, I just think that several dialogues in that route combined with these weird camera angles and some other creative choices in the cutscenes make it seem a little cheesy and weird. I don't really have any strong opinions on Liara - she's just not really my thing.
Cool I got polls now so guess what im doing
(Honorable mention to Steve Cortez, tumblr won’t let me do more than 10 options and it was him or Sam (I still love you Steve))
#Mass Effect#Ha! I finally had an opportunity to talk about ME romance routes#honestly though#I don't get any character hate and waifu wars#It's very cool to see people envision different scenarios with their characters#I've seen great content inspired by many different ships

I don't know what I'm doing,,
Design notes under cut
Four design notes because you know I love those;
Lesser than sign (<) on his tail, I've been using it in other sketches, but it often just looks like a whimsical devil tail. Four makes a lot of issues around being lesser in value than others (in comparison to other algebraliens,) so I started adding it in the same vein as the plus (+) I give Two
As to who would have the (>), I think Ten would. I'm not sure how I'll incorporate it into his design, but I'll try. Why Ten would have this, he values himself! And he's seen as better than the others, overall a great guy.
I also realize I have a bit of an association with hosts and giving them math symbols. (Four - BFB, Two - TPOT, Ten - BFPTM10 by proxy)
Notes on other things now!
Sonas - Someone told me that if I was an object, I would be a cardboard box, and it was the first answer other than "quartz," so I took it. Clipboard is my own personal idea, I've been using it as my main objectsona. Might make a 360 ref for it bc I have an idea for how the limbs and face work
Penny & Dime! I'm trying to flesh them out more, so I've been exaggerating Dime's emotions. Also, they get hobbies now! Penny gets to sing, and Dime gets fun times w trains. Stereotypical autism thing, I know, but how he interacts with trains is working mechanics genuine trains
Ships... I like Gooring, and there isn't a lot of content for it, so Gooring bite/hug was made. Nickel and Clover may or may not be a ship. Honestly, I just wanted to draw Clover
Cameo of Gigi reading off cardboard manufacturing details! If you get that reference, lovely!!
ASAOP stuff! Several ideas I haven't sketched out before, and bee-haw
Caddy used to have Beans, as well as limbs. RIP
Got the CC design down better, which is always good, AND I get to talk about the idea of Gigi getting a bite taken out! I think Gigi can naturally regenerate gum over time, but it takes longer than the kill/recover trick.
Swiss FINALLY gets use of tools other than knife! I think switching out different tools just changes mood, which is partially inspired by Pitcher OSO(?). Swiss gets dizzy and overstimulated with too many tools out, AND she has more limbs tucked in there.
Gum x S.A.K. because I LOVE SHIPPING !!! I LIVE AND BREATHE SHIPPING !!!!!

Writer Interview Game
Thank you, @gingerlegacy07 for the tag! Y'all should check her out! She's amazing and a great writer :]
When did you start writing?
Hm, I think I started writing ever since I was 9. It was at first just a little children's book. I've always liked drawing and writing, and coming up with crazy things, lol.
I loved taking Creative Writing class when I was 17, and that's when I also started writing my own original novel.
Writing fanfiction, I started about a year ago, with Hogwarts Legacy. I just had a couple ideas and decided to just give it a shot and write them. Now, I'm still writing HL fanfics and enjoying it so much :]
Are there different themes or genres you enjoy reading than what you write?
Ummm, I'm not sure. Maybe enemies to lovers as I personally don't think I can write that wonderful trope well. But I love to see it, like Zutara, lol.
Is there a writer you want to emulate or get compared to often?
No, as I write with my own style. I might be inspired by works of others sometimes, but I intend to make stories with my own take and my own way.
Can you tell me a bit about your writing space?
Well, if I write at my home, I usually do it at my desk! Per my name, I have some dragon stuff on my desk, lol, as well as a ceramic cup of pens and pencils and a lamp.
If I feel bored at my desk, I would move to the kitchen table or the living room, just to have a change of scenery. I also sometimes go to a coffee shop and camp there for a few hours while drinking mochas and such.
What's your most effective way to muster up a muse?
I often listen to songs and think of which pairs or characters fit them. And even when I watch a show or movie, I find myself wondering what characters from HL would be like in it, hahaha.
So honestly...the most effective way is just me lost in thought XD. I have one interesting thought, then I keep following that thought, and it just builds up in there. And my creativity has me start to write it.
Are there any recurring themes in your writing? Do they surprise you?
Family is huge in my writing. Whether it's blood family or - more frequently - found family. Also friends that are like family. And just being supportive and having healthy relationships. Wonderful happy love and fluff everywhere!
It doesn't surprise me, lol. I don't like sad endings or anything too depressing. I can't handle it, and I always want happy endings after many rough trials or trauma.
With Sebastian, I always have him redeemed when he's in a relationship with my MC Estelle. And she needed healing of her own too. And they just make each other so happy and they love each other so much. All the fluff for them and my other otps :]
What is your reason for writing?
It's mainly because I wanted to a certain story and didn't see it out there, so I decided to write it myself. In doing so, I hope that others enjoy the stories too.
Anyone that's seen the majority of my incorrect quotes or read some of my stories know I'm a huge shipper of Garrelda. I love them to bits, I'll forever captain that ship if need be, lol. So, when HL fics were still coming out, I didn't any (if at all) or Poppinis. I decided to give it a shot and write for those pairings, more of Poppinis at first. I loved Poppinis as a ship first before I fleshed out my take on Garrelda more.
In the end, I write stories that I randomly get inspired to write, and I just send them out there, not knowing if others wanted to read such a thing, lol
Is their any specific comment or type of comment you find particularly motivating?
Any positive comment showing love for the story just makes me so happy. Seeing them appreciate it always makes me smile. Those comments help me remember people do like what I write, and it's a nice reminder :]
How do you want to be thought about by your readers?
Eh, I don't know if there's anything I want to be thought about. But I guess a "provider" of Garrelda content, as I often write that pairing, especially with my recent on-going fic. Or just a "truly writing dragon", lol, as I keep sending out more stories for people to read in the HL fandom.
What do you feel is your greatest strength as a writer?
I think writing emotions and characters. I try to make the characters feel real, and I do my best in describing them so they're relatable to readers.
How do you feel about your own writing?
I feel like it's improving, which is great to see. But that makes me grimace about my first fics I wrote, as I know they can be a bit rough. But that's how it goes, and I do feel pretty proud of how far I've come, and I do like my writing more from time to time. I admittedly am still my worst critic, though.
And those are my answers! Thank you for whomever came up with this! :]

also, hey...hope ur okay. i love your lighthearted fluffy hc's for Quimm--I think the fandom needs that, there's so much angst hahhah. I dont mind the jokes abt them but--I know what you mean. you have inspired me to draw them being affectionate more though, so, hehe >:) will tag you in it
And I would LOVE to see it!!
As for the other thing... well I can't say I've been perfectly fine. This fandom still overwhelms me, and real life has been hectic, but at least the pain has grown smaller. just a little bit, but what can you do...
although, I'm glad I can provide sweeter content for these two! they still mean a lot to me and even when I try to deny it, they're still at the back of my mind, along with so many cute Ideas I have for them post-reconciliation.
I feel like, as one of the more recurrent fans of the ship, often when I discuss ideas for them it all revolves around the split-up, which is one of the major events in their stories as we all know. But sometimes, it becomes so often when I rely on this for the basis of their romance that I forget that that's not all that they shared.
For one, I love to think of how they were when they met. How troubled Timm might have been due to being pushed into studying law, and how lonely Quinn must have also been due to her naturally stoic personality. (we've seen fans assume the worst of her only by her angry expression, so imagine the people in her world)
I often find myself daydreaming about Timm being one of the few that was kind to her, and liked to have her around. Including her, in things that she never thought she would experience, and also how she might have been the only one who supported him through and through each semester, each exam, and each work, instead of insulting him for not understanding a subject he wasn't passionate about. (cough cough like his dad cough cough)
The idea of them forming such a wonderful friendship, a bond that made them a power duo, a dream team... and how even after all, there is still something left of that natural chemistry they've had, even when they are so different.
I am a sucker for friends to lovers, but also for the separated couple who still misses their other half, so when it comes to these two it's not all about angst and pain but also the yearning. The trope of the cold and calculative woman having her heart melted by a dorky guy, not once but twice, even after a long time separated. The relief they feel once everything is cleared and there's no reason for them not to try to be together. this time not as just partners, but lovers.
...Ah shit I started rambling. But you get my point!
There is so much potential, not only in the reconciliation process but also in how that rekindled friendship slowly grows into a romance, and they love each other so much they can't tell if it's just the respect and admiration they've had for the other since so long ago or something entirely new. I just!!! it makes me so so happy!
So to be able to present that aspect of it, and put some sugar in a normally bitter drink... to be the one that can write them in such a special way is an honor. even more when people start to like and enjoy it thanks to said work I have done. it's a great feeling.

Happy 10 years to the Rumbelle fandom!
I'm going to get a little emotional...
As you know, I'm someone new to this fandom. I started watching OUAT in September of last year and I've to say that I fell in love with this series in its first three seasons and what I love the most is the story of Rumple and Belle. They are two characters that have left their mark on many of us, and although we all have different opinions about the development they have had (for example, I don't like the canon of this series in general post season 3 because I feel that the writing is not the same as before), but I think we can all agree that Robert and Emilie's work in interpreting this love story has been wonderful and sometimes an inspiration for many of us.
Very rarely I've felt so welcomed in a community like this. All of you are kind, respectful and creative fans. I've read great fanfics, I've seen many drawings that are truly works of art or fanvids that have really made my day. I discovered OUAT in one of the most difficult moments of my life, and yes, I can say that making so many drawings of them or entering here on Tumblr to read or see this content that all of you continue to produce in the fandom has helped me to distract myself and go ahead.
So now I only have to thank Robert and Emilie for being the best captains of this ship, and especially the Rumbelle fandom for still being here after 10 years. You Rumbelle fans are THE BEST.

Name: Ren Age: 21 Writing Blog URL(s): @ateez-ly, @wxyvision & @cherry-woo, and only the odd work on my main ( @soft-woo )
Nationality: British Languages: English, Spanish, Dutch (learning), limited Mandarin Star Sign: Aries MBTI: INFP-T Favorite color: Red Favorite food: Pasta or cheesecake Favorite movie: Coyote Ugly Favorite ice cream flavor: Strawberry Favorite animal: Red panda Go-to karaoke song: Back To Black by Amy Winehouse
What fandom(s) do you write for? Ateez, Nct (ot21), The Boyz, and now Stray Kids
When did you post your first piece? My first writing blog work was posted February 1st 2019 (Quenched - Yeosang)
Do you write fluff/angst/crack/general/smut, combo, etc? Why? Generally fluff and angst, sometimes a combo, though I have tried writing some crack more recently. I'm just more familiar with fluff and angst and it's easier to pull off
Do you write OCs, X Readers, Ships...etc? I mostly write x reader stuff. I have written with OCs and ships but I prefer to read and write x reader stuff so I stuck with that
Why did you decide to write for Tumblr? My Ateez writing blog was my first writing blog, but I did write a couple of stuff before that. I think it's just a case of "I have this really cool idea and I want to share it with my friends"
What inspires you to write? Just about anything - conversations with friends, Tumblr posts, my weird dreams etc.
What genres/AUs do you enjoy writing the most? I've really enjoyed writing prince aus (like my Xiaojun prince au) as well as getting into writing fantasy and crack stuff. I still feel most confident with angst though
What do you hope your readers take away from your work? I simply hope they enjoy it. It would be great if I could make them smile or cry with my writing
What do you do when you hit a rough spot creatively? I just take a step back. I don't force myself to write if nothing's coming to me. Sometimes I talk through what I'm writing with a friend and it helps give me some ideas. But generally, I try not to force it
What is your favorite work and why? Your most successful? My favourite work, excluding my wips, is probably 'Dear First Love' because it's the longest thing I've ever written and I think the storyline is really cute. My most successful is 'Hugging Ateez'
Do you think there’s a difference between writing fanfiction vs. completely original prose? I mean yes? To some degree. In terms of the process I guess not, but original prose is less likely to include famous people (real or fictional) so it's different in that respect
What do you think makes a good story? A good story, to me, is one where the reader is invested in the story. If the reader doesn't care about the characters and what happens to them, then to me, it's not a good story
What is your writing process like? I get an idea, write down the basic idea, then build around that, laying out the plot and all its twists and turns and fleshing out my characters. Once I've got a good idea of what I'm doing, I'll start writing. When I'm organised, anyway. Otherwise I just see where my writing takes me!
Would you ever repurpose a fic into a completely original story? Absolutely! If there was a fic that I was really proud of and wanted to turn it into an original story, I'd go for it
What tropes do you love, and what tropes can’t you stand? I'm a sucker for pretty much any trope as long as it's legal and not toxic. I really love 'found family' and the classic 'friends to lovers' tropes. I'm not sure if these are tropes, but I'm not really into mpreg or body swapping. You do you, writers, but it's just not for me
How much would you say audience feedback/engagement means to you? A lot! Even one reblog or comment puts a smile on my face and makes me proud of what I've made
Coffee or tea? What are you ordering? Tea! I have regular tea with some milk and a couple of sugars
Dream job (whether you have a job or not)? At the moment, it's to be a florist, although I'd really love to be a successful author
If you could have one superpower, what would you choose? The power to control plants so maybe mine won't die on me anymore
If you could visit a historical era, which would you choose? Either the Victorian or Georgian/regency era
If you were a trope in a teen high school movie, what would you have been? Probably the nerd/teacher's pet?
Do you believe in aliens/supernatural creatures? Some of them yes (e.g ghosts), some of them no (e.g. vampires)
Do you think fanfic writers get unfairly judged? I do. Especially by those who don't read/write fanfiction. A lot of people think we're 'cringy' or that we make things gross. There's definitely some gross fanfics out there, but I don't think fanfic writers as a whole should be judged by one questionable fanfic someone read once
Do you think art can be a medium for change? Yes, all kinds of art can. There's a lot of literature and art now that picks apart problems in our society and challenges them. It's already lead to some change in the way people think about certain things
Do you ever feel there are times when you’re writing for others, rather than yourself? I used to back when I wrote requests on another site. I'd sit there and churn out request after request after request like a robot until I started to hate writing and had to take a break for a while. Now, I just write what inspires me. I'll take a few requests but no way am I ever going back to the way I wrote before
Do your offline friends/loved ones know you write for Tumblr? I imagine my university flatmates have probably seen me reblogging my writing at least once, so yes. As for my family, I don't think they know what Tumblr even is (thankfully!)
What is one thing you wish you could tell your followers? This is really simple but… I love you and thank you for supporting me!
Do you have any advice for aspiring writers who might be too scared to put themselves out there? I know it's super scary putting out writing for others to see, but really, some leaps are worth it. You'll never really know how something will go if you never try. Maybe you could start off with small steps, like sharing a piece of writing with a couple of friends if you don't feel confident jumping straight in
Are there any times when you regret joining Tumblr? Sometimes, if there's drama in a fandom or fanwars going on, but I generally try to stay away from it and just enjoy the lighthearted content
Do you have any mutuals who have been particularly formative/supportive in your Tumblr journey? Yes, in one way or another. Some of them have helped me with my writing ideas, whilst others have been a rock for me emotionally, and many have played both roles. To name a handful of people, @linothot, @silverstonemanor and @wangjyunhao amongst many others have really helped me 💛
Pick a quote to end your interview with: Be who you want to be, not the person who others want you to be

The funny thing is...I've been waiting to send you asks! So, first of all, I ADORE your characterization of 2Doc. It may very well be my favorite, in fact. You describe your version as "harsher." I understand why, but are there any "softer" characterizations you enjoy? As in, what is your standard of "softness" for the lads? Do you enjoy any "soft" portrayals of 2Doc in the fandom? Do you enjoy any other characterizations besides your own?
First and foremost, thank you so much for saying that! That truly means a lot to me. I know maybe that just sounds like a thing people say, like “I appreciate your support,” but it really does mean more than you realize. Writing can occupy a weird space in fandom, especially this one, and it’s easy to feel sort of isolated. I can be a defeatist and I’ve never really considered myself A Writer, I just… have written things. I feel like you need to be better at it and do it with more frequency to be A Writer, haha. So to hear things like that is a real kindness. I do say my content is harsher, and I say that to express that I understand why people may not like and may not engage with it. I get it! But conversely, it’s simply true that people want to feel like they have an audience and there is a point to making content aside from just… the personal spectacle of it. Like, if it’s gonna be a spectacle, make it entertaining! So that bolsters me, sincerely, it does. (And please feel free to send me asks if you’d like! I also just don’t get a lot of asks for those same reasons, the content being kinda unlikable and me being rather sporadic in posts and hey, I get it– but it’s always nice.)
Sorry that I’m sort of answering these out of order, but I’ve got to pay dues right away to the last bit: “Do you enjoy any other characterizations besides your own?” Absolutely! My version of 2Doc is not my favorite 2Doc, and I’d barely call it mine! From the start my characterization has been lovingly ripped off from @elapsed-spiral, specifically their entire-Gorillaz-canon-spanning fic Yearz. When I got into the fandom as a relative newcomer, Yearz was only a few chapters in. I was not entirely on board shipping 2Doc at the time because I hadn’t really been sucked in by any of the shorter fics I’d read, which tended to depict Stu a bit wet and hard to get much of a grip on. I really had an itch in me to like Stu and be Controversial:tm: with his character, and Yearz not only scratched it but cleaved my arm off! Oi! The reason I began writing was wholly due to the foundation Danni laid. I wouldn’t have bothered if I hadn’t seen what an ugly but gripping and human experience you could portray with these characters, and known there was a place for it and someone could really enjoy it. I don’t think there’s anyone who follows me and isn’t already familiar with Yearz, but on that chance, gotta be clear that I consider my 2Doc to just be a spinoff of what Danni had already paved the way for! If you want to see these guys be harsh and incompatible but inescapably tethered, and have all the jokes actually land, @elapsed-spiral‘s characerization is what you’re after.
So, my standard for softness. This is difficult to describe well and I apologize upfront if it’s just a messy ramble, but I feel there’s a distinction between enjoying things in a respectful way, in a way that acknowledges skill and storytelling, and getting a warm-and-fuzzy sort of enjoyment out of them. I’ve definitely read and enjoyed softer portrayals of them as well-written stories, but I do think of my own characterization as very removed from that. What is “standard soft” for me is not very, but that has no bearing on whether soft stories are good or not! There is a certain “tenderness culture” on Tumblr and I respect it, I see no problem in making the most personally fulfilling content possible– but in response to the demand for that alone, it at times feels like there’s a necessity to explain yourself, or to force a happy ending just so it’s seen as having a “purpose.” (I mean, fair, realistically my stories serve no purpose at all. They are an exercise in futility 100%) This is not necessarily a popular viewpoint, but for myself, I don’t think the main purpose of a story is making you feel any specific way, good or bad– the main purpose is to tell a story the reader can think about and engage with, and if you tell it well enough they’ll feel what it’s appropriate to feel. It is a vitally important bonus in distinguishing “passable” stories from “good” ones, and that emotional response is what makes you feel connected to the material and author, but it’s not all a story has to be. What we feel connected to won’t always look the same, and it won’t ever reach an entire audience the same way. But mostly, when it comes to the sweeter side of 2Doc– me giving a “stamp of approval” is totally worthless, I don’t think anyone writing actually enjoyable stories that people feel good reading are aiming to hook me, haha. Nor should they! I’d never want someone to add hard edges they don’t like onto the soft stories that inspired them, they matter and they’re cherished as they are! As long as one kind of content exists, that’s a good reason for another kind to exist, and another, and then– thank god!– we get many pieces of work with completely different ideas behind them.
As for an extremely soft writer who I think is just phenomenal, you can’t miss @supposed2bfunny! Beck’s been filling this role in the fandom in such a unique way and it’s clear why so many connect with her. There is a hard-baked romance to her writing that is undeniable, and I mean that in a very classic sense. Her grip on language and personal poetic style is very enjoyable to me no matter how much “our 2Docs” resemble each other or not! I hope Beck knows that I very much respect not only her talent, but the soft heart that goes into it. People need that, and people will always need that! It’s a very human thing, to seek things that resonate with you, and I have a great love for human things!

Hey! After following you for a while, I've become very interested in getting into the rp community. However, I have absolutely no idea how. Could you possibly give me any tips on where to begin?
astraea’s tips, tricks, & advice for new rpers !!
I’m so glad that my blog has inspired you! I can definitely offer you a few tips and give you a general idea of how and where to begin. I hope all of this helps you out, and as always, feel free to reach out to me through IMs as well. I’ve done a lot of “RP mentoring” type of things where I’ve helped new roleplayers out and it’s always been a pleasure and a great experience.
Since this list of tips is a little lengthy, I’ve placed it under a read more. But anyways, let’s begin!
❝ ※ *. : 。 → TYPES OF ROLEPLAYS.
I believe that in order to get a good grasp of the concept of roleplaying, you need to learn about and understand the various ways you can do it. Generally speaking, there are three main ways to RP. Of course, within that, there are subcategories, but we’ll get there when we get there. Just know that you have a choice to pick where you feel most comfortable.
group roleplay.
For a long time, roleplay groups (RPGs) were relatively simple. They were broken up into two simple categories: original character (OC) and biography roleplays. How, however, it has become a little bit more complex. Skeleton roleplays and appless roleplays have quickly taken over, and for a moment, multi-muse (mumu) roleplays were popular. Of course, this most likely sounds like a load of gibberish, so let me enlighten you a little.
Roleplay groups (RPGs) ⸺ this is the umbrella term for roleplays that consist of a group of people. It acts like a network and generally speaking, the group will follow the same plot and there is a main account that represents them as a whole. if you are not in the group, then you cannot roleplay with any of the characters that are in it and vice versa; if you are in it, you cannot roleplay with people that aren’t. this is generally referred to as a closed group.
Original character roleplays (OC RP) ⸺ this is a type of RPG in which the people who wish to be a part of it are responsible for creating their own characters. each person has written their own character, and therefore, the character belongs to them. some roleplays that are mixed with biography roleplays, however, may ask you if they can keep your character as a pre-written bio if you ever chose to leave. this isn’t really common anymore, though.
Biography roleplays (bio RP) ⸺ this is a type of RPG in which the admins/creators of the roleplay are responsible for writing the characters’ biographies. not all roleplays, however, can claim ownership over the characters since some of them are fandom-based, and therefore, belong to the original content creator.
Skeleton roleplays ⸺ this is a type of RPG in which the admins/creators of the roleplay have provided a basic outline of a character. usually, these types of roleplays do not assign faceclaims to the role; instead, they make suggestions, but inevitably, do leave the faceclaim decision up to the applicant.
Appless roleplays ⸺ this is a type of RPG in which the application process is relatively simple. the application has a layout in which the information you input is the basic stuff. characters name, age, a secret or positives/negatives, and your out of character information.
Multi-muse roleplays (mumu RP) ⸺ this is a type of RPG in which the number of characters you can have is very high. in a normal roleplay, your character limit is usually anywhere from one to three. in a mumu, however, you are able to have a larger amount of characters. this is also a little tricky because i have seen mumus done in different ways. one way that is common is mumus that are set up like rpgs. another way, which is the only way i have ever done a mumu, is by connecting with a group of friends you feel comfortable with. this is an easy way to test out new ships or characters without having all the pressure of a more “professional” rpg setting.
Twitter roleplays ⸺ this is a type of RPG in which there is a main account on tumblr where you can apply, but the actual roleplay occurs on twitter. really, i’ve never been in one of these so i’m not sure how they go. i will leave a link at the end to a tutorial, though.
Now, within all of this, there are different genres you can look into. Horror, action, mystery, urban, bandom, fandom, etc. Again, the choice is yours. One thing to consider, though, is how much time you have and how much you are willing to write. Generally speaking, appless roleplays, twitter roleplays, and some OC roleplays have less writing than the others. However, this is just a generalization and does not apply to every roleplay that falls into these categories. Also, remember that no person is better than the other just because they write more or less.
independent/1x1 roleplay.
This style of roleplay is not for everyone. For some, it can be a little more intimidating than a group roleplay. To others, it can be even better than a group. It’s up to your personal preference, and within this category, you have the option of independent roleplaying, or 1x1 roleplaying. Let’s get to know both of the options.
Independent roleplay (indie RP) ⸺ this is a style of roleplay in which you are essentially creating your own rules. this, as the name suggests, grants you more freedom. in this, you are not confined to a group; therefore, you can roleplay with whoever you want. the drawback? a lot of indie roleplayers are picky with who you write you. you may see a lot of words like “selective” and “mutuals only” being used and this is simply because they create their own rules and they determine who they want to roleplay with. generally speaking, many people do pick only one character to play and choose one fandom to stick with. however, as always, this is not always the case and many people also do have “primary” characters and verses that they write in/with and “secondaries.”
1x1 roleplay (1x1 RP) ⸺ this is a style of roleplay in which you are essentially creating your own rules. this, as the name suggests, usually means that one character is roleplaying with another and you have an established writing partner a plotline. 1x1s are meticulously plotted out with a fellow writer. since there are a lot of 1x1 roleplayers, it is relatively hard to get yourself established. because of this, i do recommend being very outgoing and friendly.
Now, these styles of roleplays, in my opinion, are more difficult than RPGs. I have a hard time reaching out to RPers that I want to write with, especially if we aren’t in a group. Also, not to bash anything or give you an opinion before you can really form your own, but many fandom indie/1x1 people can be very cliquey. You’ll come to notice that there are a lot of call out posts involved with people bullying/being rude. Obviously, however, this can happen everywhere.
❝ ※ *. : 。 → GENERAL RULES.
The majority of roleplays and people have a general understanding and a general idea of roleplay etiquette. This includes, but is not limited to:
No bullying is allowed. This is a quick way to get a call out post about you. Just be nice and don’t try to “troll” people. It really isn’t nice to get hate messages.
Don’t steal. Seriously, don’t steal characters, roleplay ideas, or themes that do not belong to you. It’s a huge no-no.
Don’t godmod. Over the years, this has developed a bit. Godmodding used to be described as writing a character who is oppressing another or controlling another person’s character. Now, assuming a person’s thoughts/actions/words is also considered godmodding. The best thing is to ask if the other person is comfortable with something or if it is within their character’s limits.
Don’t lie. This is serious. Lying, especially about your age, is wrong. If you are lying and saying you are older than you really are, you can actually get into legal trouble. This is specific toward people who are underaged and write smut. As a general rule, do not write smut unless you are 18 or older, and do not write smut with another person unless they are 18 or older.
Tag any triggers. Of course, you may forget or you may not be aware of what other people may consider a trigger, but do your best. And FYI, tag your triggers with the trigger first. For example: blood tw. See? Blood is put before the tw and this is primarily because blacklist will only pick up the first word of a tag. At least, that’s what people have been saying? Not sure, but still, do it just to be safe.
Organization. I’m not saying this is necessary, but it is appreciated. Having a tag system is great because it can allow others to navigate your blog easily. Also, have a neat and clean theme that has legible text.
Cut your posts. Cutting your posts means that only the 2 most recent replies are included in the post. This means the other person’s last reply and your reply. I’ll provide a link to a tutorial at the end.
❝ ※ *. : 。 → FRIENDLY REMINDERS.
A lot of people forget these things, so I think it’s important to get them ingrained into your system before you start!
First and foremost, this is for fun. If you find yourself getting stressed or anxious, stop, take a break, and focus on what really matters. Roleplaying is an outlet, and therefore, should be something that relaxes you. If you need to quit an RPG because life is too busy, do it. If you need to drop plots, do it. The group and your writing partners will understand, and if they don’t, well, they probably aren’t people you should be associating with, to begin with.
Only take on what you can handle. Don’t be afraid to say no to plotting, especially with indies or 1x1s. If you have too much going on, politely decline and offer to plot when you have free time.
Aesthetic isn’t everything. I know people that don’t like those contained themes but use it because people will only RP with them if they have a contained theme with nice graphics. That logic is flawed because people shouldn’t want to roleplay with you because you have a nice aesthetic. They should roleplay with you because of a connection.
Getting your application rejected isn’t the end of the world. If you get rejected, you can always ask why or what you can improve upon. Take the opportunity to improve your writing and general understanding of concepts. I’ve personally been rejected about four times from roleplays, two of which happened last year when I had about 5 years of experience on my hand. It really isn’t the end of the world and a lot of times, it’s just because the admins felt that another person had a better understanding of the character, not because your writing “sucks.”
If you feel insecure about your writing, that doesn’t mean you have to stop. Be observant and look at the way other people write and see if there’s something lacking in your own. Maybe your writing is clouded with purple prose or maybe your narratives aren’t descriptive enough. Always be observant and try to improve, don’t give up right away.

The Artist In Me - Track 6: Gifted Alien
Here in the album lies a palpable tone change. We're 5 tracks in, and I wanted the first five tracks of TAIM to be sort of a mirror to the 5 tracks that make up Identity, as they are transcendent projects: TAIM explores the ideas that Identity lays the foundation for. This was a happy coincidence, but those five tracks almost mirror Identity in length, too! Just 2 or 3 minutes difference, Identity being longer. They ALSO mirror each other in the sense that they are kind of an exposition of me, my beliefs, my core and my values. 1) Inspiration is your friend. Love it. 2) "I can hang out with my friends, the next day, I'll be fine with reading books at my house!" Ha ha ha! 3) I'm multi-talented, and I do what I want. "And you can, too!" 4) I have big dreams, and I want to achieve them all. And 5) Imma stay original, Imma stay authentic, I tell my story, and you can come along for the ride! (I kinda set you up for what comes next in that last one ha ha ha!)
I also put a tone change here to signal a switch in the narrative at this point in the album. I go from telling you about myself and things about me, to telling you stories about my life as a preteen after I got all those values and what I experienced that defined that era of my life... while also telling you one more thing about me. I'm on the Autism spectrum.
In this, the very heart of the album, I tell you about my developmental make-up. I tell you that I am autistic. High-functioning autism is what they call mine now. If you personally know me, or have seen any of my content online, this may surprise you because you're probably thinking, "Evan never seemed autistic to me." I'll get to that in a second. Anyways, I got diagnosed when I was in 4th grade, but my mom didn't tell me until I was 11 (it was called Asperger's Syndrome at the time, but the people who diagnose it have put all of the different types of autism under the umbrella of Autism Spectrum Disorder, or autism for short since then, so I'll call it that since it's not 2009 anymore. Technicalities). Michael Jackson had died that same year she told me and that really affected me deeply. It had never happened to someone I cared that much about. Amidst that loss, I was... "gifted" with this new information as well.
My perception of autism has changed over the years, and I see it differently than I did then. But at the time, I was really confused about what that means to and for me. I didn't know how to make sense of it, how to perceive it. I was led to believe that I was like everyone else mentally, and then my mom tells me that I'm not, but in fact, markedly atypical from other kids, other people. I could write a book on autism and how to notice it in minorities, but the most prevalent "symptoms" (I hate that word) you can find in me are that I struggle to make and especially maintain eye contact. It's scary and really just... overstimulating to observe all the features of the human face. Even the moon is terrifying to look at sometimes because it looks like a giant abstraction of a human face floating in the sky! Doesn't that sound scary?! I also was born without a "social chip" in my brain if you will. "How is he able to be so nice and mannerable and perceptive without a social chip?" You can't really tell on the surface because I learned how to socialize early on, but I had to learn it like I learned math and science and reading. I'm an incredibly fast learner, so I've gotten really good at it, but socializing will never be second nature to me. Always a weird art that every other human likes to do, and I learned how to do it because I want to connect with said humans. For nearly 40% of my life, I was overtly enthralled by the Titanic. Everything about her (you can tell my enthusiasm as I address the ship as a she. This ship is my everything). The circumstances behind her sinking, the arithmetic of the dead and the survivors, the morals of the passengers, how the disaster affected human history, random facts, and most of all, her technical specifications and visual appearance. And the (in)accuracy of the many movies made about her. She's the reason I'm a designer. How's that for defining a kid's life?! For most of my childhood, I spoke mostly about Titanic and it annoyed a lot of people to hear me talk back then. The thing is, I didn't pick up on the fact that they felt that way. That's Autism. Right there. Many people "on the autism spectrum" as were categorized, are also very smart and typically skilled and blessed with some sort of talent, or multiple talents in my case. I know I'm not the only one like that, either. Michelangelo and Sir Isaac Newton were autistic as well.
So after mom told me about that, I had connected all the dots between my behaviors. So the big question became, "What am I?!"
In postmodern society, kids and honestly everybody are led to perceive diagnosable developmental differences or so-called "disabilities" as just that - disabilities. So I slowly began to believe that something was wrong with me. It became weird to have great gifts, to have a vast collection of knowledge in your head about this one thing that you're interested in. To have trouble socializing and blending in, all because God made your mind to function differently than everyone else. I wasn't mad at God, I just confused about the whole situation... and that's what this song is about. Whew!
The musical ideas explored in Gifted Alien stem mostly from hip hop of the early to mid 1990s. Boom-bap and G-funk stuff mostly. A lot of 2Pac and Biggie influences, also some gospel sauce in that mix, too. Donnie McKlurkin, Kirk Franklin/God's Property, all that. Cool stuff.
I think that Gifted Alien is the most important song on this album because of its message and the fact that it sheds light on something that isn't really discussed to the point of people having a significant understanding of it. Autism. Also minority autism. Black autism. You don't see very many musical artists talking about this stuff in pop songs or songs made for the mainstream. So if you want to share only one song from this here album, let it be this one if you like it. I want so desperately for other autistic people, regardless of age or ethnicity, diagnosed or undiagnosed, that they are not alone. I hear them, and I'm speaking for our shared community.
Hi. I'm Evan, and I am a gifted alien. And I love you personally. ❤
