AAA games? Pfft. Indie games? Double pfft.
I only play games from the alternate history where Hillary Clinton was elected in 2008 and banned all video games. You can only imagine how weird their underground gaming scene is. People like to call unlicensed games "bootlegs" but they've got actual bootlegged games! I've played games about helping your grandmother in hospice care realize she's a lesbian by reading Sappho to her, at 2am in a speakeasy in Baltimore. The cops raided it the next night, hundreds of Gamers were arrested. They posted pictures all over Friendster of the Baltimore PD destroying the arcades with axes.
I nearly got busted once because I was imaging old disks from a 386 and someone tipped off the gaming cops that there was a copy of Commander Keen in there. I had to prove that I didn't know it, I was imaging the disks blind and then indexing them later, and I would of course turn over any contraband to the proper authorities.
I was already on a watch list because I'd been known to have some gamedev-related activities pre-ban. They can't arrest me for making games back in 2007 when it was still legal, but they do want to keep an eye on me since I have the skills to break the law.
Anyway that universe's bootlegs are mainly PC games. Can't really have console games if there hasn't been a console release since the Wii/PS3/360 era. At one point Nintendo threatened to release the Wii SDK so game devs in the US could make unlicensed games, but that didn't happen as there were quickly no functional Wiis left in the US, except for very rare holdouts that never move. PC games are easy to distribute samizdat and hide on a USB stick or CD-R labeled "nickelback".
Japan's games industry is still going, so the later Nintendo and Sony consoles still exist, but Microsoft got out of the business of course. They sold the franchise to Sega who were hoping to release the 360 successor (the Xbox One in our universe) as the Sega Phoenix but it never materialized, either through their own financial incompetence or because of pressure from the US. There's a lot of international treaties that the US has pushed "and this aid only goes through if you ban games" clauses into. That would have been an official UN resolution if the USSR hadn't vetoed it. For once, thank God for the security council, eh?
I mainly get my gaming news through Japanese gaming sites (through a set of VPNs, since they're blocked at the border firewall), and some tor onion site run by a weird guy in Minnesota who is obsessed with documenting all the underground US games.
There's a lot being worked on, but it's always a tricky trade off. Too much attention and the police might be able to track down the creators, and it's basically impossible to fund underground games, as the VISA/PayPal etc funds get seized immediately. There's a whole task force for that.
Anyway one of the weirdest differences between our two time lines is that they've gone back and edited out gaming from a bunch of movies. Those that they can, of course. War games was just banned because they couldn't remove the tic tac toe ending. The Net just removed the scene at the beginning where she's playing Wolfenstein 3D, by recording some new screen footage and a new voice over. She's fixing a spreadsheet in the new edition.
(Yes, I've seen The Net from this alternate timeline. On Laserdisc, of course. I'm just that kind of person!)
They even edited Star Wars. You know that scene where R2-D2 is playing holochess with Chewie? They edited it to be a board game instead of holograms, because that made it too "video gamey".
Technically it's not illegal to show gaming in a movie, but it needs to be an 18+ film and you have to show the deleterious effects of gaming and/or the gamesters coming to a bad end.
This has affected films less than you'd think, to be honest. They were never great about showing video games even before they banned them.
Anyway, go have fun playing your AAA games with hundred-million-dollar budgets. I only play indie games made by people under a constant threat of arrest for their art.

Falling for You | Choi Yeonjun
Summary: You like Yeonjun, and he knows it. But what happens when you figure out he just might like you too? Pairing: f!reader Noona x Yeonjun, f2l (age gap 2 or 3 years, take your pick lol) Word Count: 3.6k a/n: I am so so so so so sorry to my anon that sent this a while ago! I hope it was worth the wait <3 p.s. not edited well because I was happy I finished it and wanted to post it asap! Let me know what you think!~
"I didn't know you were such an adrenaline junkie" Yeonjun says while fastening my harness and pulling the straps tighter, making sure everything is secure. "Why do you say that?" I ask, ultimately knowing but not wanting to admit it. "Well you've been here like 4 time since I started working here and I just started last month" he says laughing at what he probably believes is my clueless nature. "I don't know, it's exhilarating. Plus it was my first time so I don't know I guess I've been addicted ever since" I finish off getting a bit defensive but ultimately it's the truth.
"You know, in another context that could sound really dirty" he teases making my cheeks heat up. "Yeonjun!" I scold hitting his arm, looking around to make sure no one had heard him. "What? Am I wrong?" he says, clearly loving my reaction. "No you're not but aren't you supposed to be acting professional while at work?" I question, crossing my arms over my chest. He ended up getting a job at an adventure park with bungie jumping, sky diving and zip lining, amongst other not so extreme activities.
"Yeah but I don't need to act professional in front of you because you're my friend right?" he laughs, making excuses for himself. "Yes we're friends but still!" I argue, "Aw are you getting shy?" he teases, tilting his head at me. "You wish" I say scoffing at him, fed up with his cocky attitude already. Deep down though he knows I'm loving this...and that's the dangerous part.
I like Yeonjun, and he knows that. I've liked him for years but we've never actually addressed it and he hasn't acted on it. Which pretty much shows me he doesn't feel the same way. So this is what we do, I act like I can't stand him but go out of my way to not so subtly be around him. Where as he does everything in his power to tease me until he gets a reaction out of me. Which honestly isn't very hard when it comes to him.
That's been our friendship dynamic for years now and I don't want to mess that up, even if it means that we can't be together the way I want us to. "You ready to go? You know the drill so if you're all set I'll get you hooked up" he says referring to the zip lining contraption. You know, I might've been here multiple times already but I still don't know any of the proper terminology besides harness and carabiner, the latter being one Yeonjun had made fun of me for calling it 'the clippy thing' just today.
"As ready as I'll ever be" I say taking everything in. "Hey, you've done this before so don't let it psych you out" he says in a softer tone, placing a hand on my chin and pulling my face back over to his, my eyes now focusing on the floor not wanting to make eye contact with him. "Eyes on me Pretty" he says and I snap my eyes up to his but take a step back when I start choking on air.
"Cute" he chuckles at me before bringing me back over to get hooked onto the zip line. I walk with him and let him drag me along, still caught off guard by the pet name and end up overthinking and spacing out until I get to the front of the line. "Oh hello again!" the girl that works on getting people ready to go on the line says. We've spoken a few times and she seems really nice but sometimes I get a bit insecure seeing her interactions with Yeonjun.
"Hey!" I respond, still kind of unsure if I want to do this again. "Hey!" Yeonjun yells over to me, "Just close your eyes when you take off and count to 10 then open your eyes, that's when the best part comes into view". I nod my head at him and turn back around to face the girl as she helps me get connected.
"You and Yeonjun seem pretty close" she says, clearly fishing for information. "Yeah we've been friends for a few years so I guess you could say that" I say. "Oh you guys are just friends? I could've sworn you were his girlfriend" she says with her brows slightly pinched together. "What would make you say that?" I ask, my heart beating a little faster. "I mean he talks about you all the time so I thought that maybe..."
"Oh no, yeah we're um, yeah we're just friends" I say awkwardly after gaining that new piece of information and looking back over to him. "You know, if you like him you should ask him out" she says following my gaze to see him smiling and laughing with another one of their coworkers. "No I couldn't, plus I'm a few years older so I don't know" I say getting kind of embarrassed at the fact that I've admitted that I have a crush on a younger guy, and not only that but a close friend that's a younger guy.
"Wouldn't that be a bit weird?" I question, bringing my attention back over to her. "I don't think so. I mean it's not like you're 40 years old or something. Two or three years isn't that bad. Just think about it, I've seen you here so many times and I know for a fact that you both would make a really cute couple" she finished.
"I don't know about that" I say still turned towards her. "Don't know about what?" Yeonjun says sneaking up on me. "Don't sneak up on me like that! Do you see how far that fall is?" I scold and point towards the forest hundreds of feet bellow us. "You would've been fine silly. Plus you're already hooked up to the line. What's been taking you so long? I thought you went already" he asks, puzzled and looking back and forth between me and his coworker that I had been talking to.
"We were just catching up a bit" she says with a smile making an easy excuse. "You know Summer" he asks, speaking to me while pointing at the girl that I now know as Summer. "Yeah I've helped her out a few times since she's been here" she says and he nods, pacified with that answer.
"So are you ready to go now?" he asks, double checking what I can assume is my harness, making sure I'm as safe as I can be. "I guess so" I answer again, kind of losing the thrill of the activity because of what Summer had just told me. 'Should I really ask him out?' I think to myself. "Noona?" he calls for me. "Huh? Did you say something?" I ask, feeling bad that I had spaced out on him.
"I asked if you would like me to go with you? We can race if you want! Then I'll walk you over to the next thing you have planned. Skydiving right?" he asks trying to recall my agenda for the day. "No not yet, after this I'm going bungie jumping and then sky diving to finish out the day" I say filling him in once again.
"Sorry, with so many people that come here I sometimes get things mixed up" he says sheepishly, rubbing the back of his neck which is strange since things like these aren't usually what gets him acting like this. In fact I don't think I've ever seen him act like this "It's fine Yeonjun don't worry about it. So are we gonna race or not?" I ask deciding to just move past what could turn into an awkward conversation. "Sure, just give me a sec and I'll put on a harness" he says and runs off to do as he's said.
"Did you see that?" Summer asks, "See what?" I question back. "How he wanted to help you when you get to the other side and how he offered to race you to make you less scared and how embarrassed he got with the fact that he forgot the order you're going in today, how much he lit up when you asked him if he still wanted to race how-" "Okay Summer, okay I get it" I laugh cutting her off. "Well, if you don't ask him out soon then I'll ask him out for you if you want?" she questions trying to help me out.
"That would be even more embarrassing than just doing it by myself" I say shaking my head and getting nervous just thinking about it. "What would be embarrassing?" Yeonjun asks, this time thankfully not sneaking up me. "Nothing don't worry about it. You ready?" I ask, trying to run away from this conversation. "Yeah um, sure" he says getting even more suspicious with us than he had been before.
"Just think about it okay?" Summer says when she comes back around after double checking Yeonjun's connection for him and now triple checking mine for an excuse to encourage me one last time to which I just nod and get myself mentally prepared for this zip line as well as the prospects of potentially asking him out myself. "Alright guys, three...two...one...GO!" Summer yells and we both set off with Yeonjun just a second faster than me, already gaining a clear lead.
"Hey that's not fair!" I yell, laughing at his awkward position which makes him go a lot faster, knowing that I wouldn't dare do something like that. "Hurry up then!" he says going back to sitting normally to which I take advantage of and decide to try out what he had been doing before, zooming past him. "Noona! Not fair!" he whines behind me and tries his best to catch up. "Hurry up then" I tease using his own words against him and this all goes on back and forth until we finally reach the end with me finishing just a second or two before him.
"I took it easy on you" he says making excuses for his loss. "Sure you did" I taunt, knowing full well that he pretty much did. "That's the last time though! I want a rematch!" he demands, needing to regain a sense of pride. "Maybe next time, come on let's go!" I say excitedly and drag him right along with me.
The walk to the bungie jumping area isn't too far off and it's spent still bickering with each other about the results of the race. "Fine you won, but I'm gonna go upside down when we go bungie jumping and then I'll win this round" he says and speeds up, trying to get there first. "Hey! You can't win at bungie jumping, you either jump or you don't jump, that's it." I argue, failing to see his logic.
"Yeah but we can one up each other" he retorts and gets in line. "Fine, then I'll go upside down too" I say once I catch up to him. "Wait really?" he asks, completely surprised that I would even say that, let alone go through with it.
"Why? Are you trying to get me to back out so you can win?" I say raising a brow at him. "So there is a winner" he says and pokes my side, to which I return with a slap of his arm. "By your logic, yes there is. But if we both go upside down then it's a tie which means I'm still in the lead" I say, satisfied by the outcome, but only if I actually do it.
"Do you want to go first or should I?" he asks. "Is that even a questions? You go first" I say and push him in front of me in line. "Fine but don't chicken out after I go because you think it's 'too scary' he says in air quotes. I give him a sarcastic smile and a wack him in the arm as a response. "OW!" he yell, obviously playing it up. "Well then stop making fun of me and just go" I say showing him it's his turn already.
I watch every step they take in hooking him up to make sure I'll be mentally prepared for my turn. "You got this loser" I yell as encouragement after they put him in position and he does nothing but smile in response. "Alright you ready?" the worker asks and Yeonjun sends a quick nod before they give him a countdown from three and drop him a few seconds afterwards. I lean forward a bit to try to get a better look at him but by his screaming and laughing alone I can really tell he's having a great time.
"Noona oh my gosh that was so fun!" he says coming over and giving me a hug enveloping my whole body, probably in an effort to steady himself on his feet. "You ready?" he asks with a huge smile and I can't help but laugh and say yes after seeing how happy he seems. A few seconds later though, that's another story.
"Wait Yeonjun, can't I just go the regular way?" I plead, questioning all of my life choices up until this moment. "Nope, you promised me that you would do it if I did" he scolds. "I did no-" "Shhh" he quiets me before telling the guys I'm ready to go. They start placing everything they could possibly need to to keep me from dying on my ankles as well as answer any of my questions and assuring me I'll be fine.
"Hush you'll be fine, just tell them when you're ready" Yeonjun says, peer pressuring me into doing it. "Fine" I mumble before letting the guys know. As they start to hoist me up into the contraption that drops me I shut my eyes trying to imagine myself anywhere but here. "Noona open your eyes!" to which I shake my head just enough for him to notice, not daring to make any sudden movements.
"Open your eyes or I'll kiss you" he yells and at that my eyes open as wide as they possibly could seeing him with a smug smile before giving me the countdown. "Three..." "Yeonjun no!" "Two" "No stop I'm done playing get me down!" and before I hear him say one I feel myself drop and get the wind knocked out of me. Once I regain some air in my lungs after the first bounce I start to scream which slowly turns into laughing like crazy just as Yeonjun had done moments before.
"How was it? It was amazing right?" he says with a huge smile on his face, still so amused at my reactions before the drop. "OW!" he says rubbing his forearm after having hit him for a second time. "Next time listen to me!" I say and try to take a step but stumble backwards a bit, still needing to regain my center of gravity. "Careful there" Yeonjun says pulling me back up by my harness.
My eyes widen at the proximity between us now and I look up at him and he leans closer until his nose brushes against mine with my eyes closing shut getting flustered by everything about him. "I guess I shouldn't kiss you since you opened your eyes back there huh?" he whispers and before I'm able to process what he's said he's already ten steps ahead of me.
"Hey!" I yell and jog to catch up with him. "What was that about?" I ask him with a deep crease between my brows which he puts his thumb on to encourage me to stop furrowing my brows. "What was what about?" he asks, playin dumb.
"You know, all that kissing talk" I say deciding not to shy away from the subject. "Why? Did you want me to kiss you Noona?" he asks with a devilish smile with his eye facing forward keeping an eye on where we're going. "I didn't say that" I retort, unamused with this entire conversation but taking advantage to look up at his side profile nonetheless. "Sure you didn't. Race you to the airport!" he says and takes off running. "Hey! No fair!" I yell and run after him anyways even with no chance in hell of beating him.
"Took you long enough" he says cheekily, already having the chance to catch his breath while waiting for me. "Your legs are longer than mine are" I pant, with my hands on my knees. "You okay?" he asks, placing a hand on my back. "Peachy keen" I say, almost having calmed my breathing down after a minute or so.
"Drink this" he says and hands me a bottle of water, to which I gulp down half of it. "Thirsty huh?" he says with a smirk and I roll my eyes at him, not bothering to dignify his statement with a verbal response but he takes satisfaction with what little I've given nonetheless.
"So are you ready?" he asks when I've finally gotten back to normal. "Yeah but I haven't done this one before so I don't know what I should be doing" I admit. "It's fine let me teach you, that's what I'm here for right?" he says with a genuine smile. "Right" I say, matching his smile and he walks me through all of the procedures and safety precautions.
"Did you want to go with me or did you want one of the other instructors to go with you?" he asks. "How would it be a competition if we went together? I'll go with one of the other instructors silly" I say, surprised by his question and pushing his shoulder a bit to go grab them. "And you better go with one too so it's even!" I yell after him as he jogs over to where they're at.
Once we get up in the air and are close to jumping I notice that Yeonjun starts to space out a bit. "Are you okay?" I ask concerned as to if he should actually be jumping or not. "Yeah no I'm fine don't worry about it" he says and we both get pulled away from the conversation to get hooked up to each of our respective instructors.
"Hey!" Yeonjun yells at me before we jump. "What?" I yell back so he knows for sure I've heard him. "Will you go out with me?" he yells and jumps off right after leaving me stunned. "You ready?" the guy I'm jumping with asks me. "Um yeah" I say and he gives me a countdown before we drop out of the plane.
Falling through the sky is a feeling that I can't even begin to describe, with the wind in my face and seeing how tiny everything looks from up here it's actually insane. I'm not able to focus on that though ever since Yeonjun asked me if I would go out with him. Was he kidding? Was he just trying to tease me? How am I supposed to respond once we finally parachute down and we're back on the ground.
I'm broken out of my train of thought when the guy behind me asks me if I'm okay since I haven't hardly made a sound. "Yeah I'm fine" I yell back. "Well then let me hear you say YEAH!!!" he yells, obviously trying to make sure that I'm actually not freaking out to which I respond to with a 'HELL YEAH' which seems to make him laugh.
Once we finally get close enough he pulls the tab to the parachute and we slowly but surely make our way back into the field next to the airport we had started out at. "So?" Yeonjun asks after coming over and helping me up off the ground. "So what?" I ask, not sure exactly what he's referring to since I'm still not sure if he meant what he said back there.
"What's your answer?" he asks with a shy but excited smile, clearly hoping I say yes. Instead I grab one of the straps on his harness and pull him into me and kiss him, only lingering for a few seconds, although I want more. Once I pull back he rests his forehead against mine and whispers "Well I guess I got my answer then" before angling my face back up towards his to kiss me properly.
Pushing back from him afterwards I push on his chest to create some distance between us as he's grabbed my waist in the meantime. "You better not make me regret this" I say giving him a stern look, making sure he'll take this seriously.
"Don't worry Noona, I won't let you slip away"

A post for publicly sharing the products of my Drawfee Lalafell idol project!
(if u don't know what the fuck I'm saying just scroll on)
NOTE: I am not affliated with Drawfee I just stole their logo for that edit. I'm not making money Julia pls don't sue me
FAQ
Q: Why do this? A: Fatal case of brainworms
Q: How long did you spend on making these? A: Too long. Enough questions
Jokes aside, here's a proper intro to what this is for people who aren't in that one very specific discord: As a creative project of sorts, I decided to make 4 Lalafells in FFXIV based on the Drawfee crew (youtubers). SPECIFICALLY these are based on their Newsday Comic Designs, because there's only so much staring at real people's faces really zoomed in I can do before I start feeling like a creep.
So, No, these are not "lifelike" or even "as close to life like as i can make potato people in a 10 year old video game". They're based on stylized ideas of people, warped by my creative liberty. That left me more space to make them cute instead of uncanny valley, which I'm sure any drawfee members that see this post might appreciate too.
They're also all heavily modded. It's more fun for dressup.
With that said! Onwards to the pictures (and design notes)!
Nathan: I actually "made" the beard for this myself - or, rather, I refitted it from a modded beard for Roegadyn. I even made an effort to mold it into a rough flower shape, but I'm afraid it doesn't show up that well. Still, remembering that there is no full beard for Lalafell in the vanilla game, I think it actually looks quite cute! For this "casual" fit I made an effort not to make Nathan look too fashion-y. Of course, they're idol photoshoot style pics, so I still had to dress him up a bit! With this sporty fit with the fun big red boots reminiscent of early video game character designs, I think I landed in a pretty nice middle ground.
Julia: This is the only design I paid real life money to make. I spent forever futzing with free hair mods trying to find one I liked, but in the end I forked over a few bucks to an experienced hair modder's online shop and got this hair that comes with all the features I wanted. Can't say I regret the purchase, it's very pretty. For the outfit, I knew what I wanted pretty much immediately. I have had this outfit mod for a long time, but I've never really known what to use it for. It feels very Julia, even if I can't remember necessarily seeing her wear this kind of thing before. Maybe it just feels French, and I associate Julia with France?
Karina: Karina's face sculpt mod was very easy to decide. Looking at the list of the free female Lala faces, I saw one that looked like a little shit - and named "Give Me the Phone" - and immediately knew it was perfect. I had to edit this hair to become hat compatible for later outfits, but overall this one was full of easy picks. Maybe I'm projecting too hard, though? I even dressed her in a top I modded for myself, after all.
Jacob: Jacob's design is one I agonized over, because finding a hair for him was quite hard. Short hair mods are rarer than long ones, and Newsday Jacob's hair is very distinctive. In the end I had to settle for a more realistic style, but I'm told it still reads as him. I wound up putting Jacob in maybe the cutesy-est outfit of the four. I don't think he'd mind, but either way the funny little overalls were too big a temptation for me to resist. Accessorising with bandages is where my weeb roots really shine through, though. Portraits done, here's the additional materials I've made!
Drawfee Kindergarten Field trip! Fun fact, I took this screenshot mere seconds before the dungeon I used as a set kicked me out, which means I spent the entire instance timer just deciding on accessories and posing! Where are they going? To see the big squid at the Aetherfont's center, of course!
youtube
The first music video! Motions not by me, I'm not that talented, these are retargeted Project Sekai dances (retargeting also not by me lmao animation modding scares me)
youtube
Childish war is such a fun song and dance, never mind the fact that none of the "personalities" really work for drawfee. It's dancing lalas! Who cares!
That's it! I might do more music videos or photo shoots in the future, but that's highly dependent on my brain chemistry, so truly nothing is certain. If you made it this far, I hope my silly little project brought you some joy! (and olive) And hey!
Check this out!

I had a fun idea, an ATLA and DnD crossover where Azula becomes an adopted gremlin child of a DnD party
I'm just going to go ahead and combine these two asks into one since they touch on the same subject.
I just want to emphasize before we begin that I have very little knowledge in the ways of Dungeons and Dragons. Don't get me wrong, I am familiar with some of the works derived from the game. I've watched Honor Among Thieves in theaters, I've seen a few play sessions online, I've read the At The Spine of the World comic set in Icewind Dale (shakes fist at Runa for being a huge, fur-wearing, female barbarian), and I have watched a few parody videos on YouTube (the old "I attack the Darkness short, the 4th edition vids where the presenters always gets killed and/or eaten, the exploits of Fargrim the Great). That being said, I've never actually played a session (I played by myself, but that's not a proper D&D experience) and I'm not familiar with every rule/monster/setting ever put out. At least not to the same extent as some other series.
So if I get something wrong with this, somebody feel free to let me know.
I do know that one of the appeals of D&D is that dungeonmasters and players are encouraged to get pretty creative with the setting. You can either play in an established setting, or just set off on your own setting from what I've heard. Really, the various monsters, gods, and races are there as pieces for you to play around with. So you can do a lot with an ATLA/D&D crossover.
As how I'd write one, I'd perhaps go for a multiverse shenanigans where the Gaang ends up in one of the settings that plays around with that sort of thing. You really don't have to work all that hard to make them a typical D&D party, so the fun would be seeing their reactions to all the various races and some of the shenanigans they might run into whilst dungeon crawling or encountering various monsters. You couldn't convince me otherwise that Aang wouldn't try to befriend every single monster they came across (ESPECIALLY the Owlbears).
I wager Zuko doesn't make it past the first room of the Tomb of Horrors.
It's here where I wouldn't adhere the various races to the morality alignment chart. You know how there are certain races that adhere to a single morality like Always Chaotic Evil or Always Lawful Good? I'd try to avoid that here, or at least give some explanation as to why they are like that instead of "born that way". ATLA does have "nobody is born evil" as one of the core themes, so I figure that would be a good fit here.
As for Azula being adopted by a party, I could see her being weirded out by the various different races. Made even make some snide racist remarks because...well the Fire Nation WAS an imperialistic racist society after all. Though once she actually spends time with them and sees they're NOT some barbarious monsters, she could warm up to them. And if we're going to have a plot involving Azula, I would have to have it involve Chromatic Dragons somehow. First off, they're dragons which Azula is associated with. Second, they're the "evil" dragons compared to the "good" Metallic Dragons. Like how Azula is the "evil" blue dragon to Zuko's "good" red dragon. I'd like to explore the morality of the Chromatics (what makes them evil and the potential for good) and see how that relates to Azula.
All in all, there would be a few things I'd like to explore with a D&D crossover. But, I'd need to do a bit more research since I'd like to know what I'm dealing with first before taking the plunge. Thanks for asking either way.

sims tag
Thank you to @gorgosim and @memoirsofasim for the tag 😊 I had this all written out before but accidentally deleted it and only just got round to it again!
1. What’s your favourite sims death? I rarely play a save long enough for any sims to die. I like the vending machine though.
2. Alpha CC or Maxis Match? Neither.
3. Do you cheat when your sims gain weight? I don't usually play any household long enough for it to happen tbh.
4. Do you use move objects? Yeah I had a little phase recently of not using it but now I am.
5. Favorite mod? I don't use any.
6. First expansion/game/stuff pack you got? I think it was City Living.
7. Do you pronounce “live mode” like aLIVE or LIVing? I've never actually said it but I think I would say it like as in living.
8. Who’s your favorite sim that you’ve made? Sunisa Pengngam. I didn't exactly make her but she did get a pretty big makeover after joining my Villareal gameplay as a maid townie so it's close enough.
9. Have you made a simself? No.
10. What sim traits do you give yourself? evil, self-absorbed, proper
11. Which is your favorite EA hair color? I don't have a favourite.
12. Favorite EA hair? I've got a soft spot for the classic chunky basegame hairs 😁
13. Favorite life stage? Toddlers are good fun, haven't really played infants yet. Most of the sims I make seem to be adults, don't know if that says something.
14. Are you a builder or are you in it for the gameplay? I like both, spend much more time with gameplay though.
15. Are you a CC creator? Nah.
16. Do you have any simblr friends/a sim squad? I really appreciate the people who take the time to like/reblog/comment on my posts and all my mutuals seem very nice 😊
17. What’s your favorite game? (1, 2, 3, or 4) TS4 is the only one I've played.
18. Do you have any sims merch? Nope.
19. Do you have a YouTube for sims? No.
20. How has your “sim style” changed throughout your years of playing? I used to use cc, so I suppose that's a pretty big change since I went cc free, other than that not much I don't think. I'm pretty influenced by the EA style of the basegame and early promotional sims.
21. What’s your Origin ID? worriedheart
22. Who’s your favorite CC creator? @dragonflydaydreamer was kind enough to make a cc painting out of a screenshot I took which has a special place in my game, otherwise I don't use any cc.
23. How long have you had a simblr? Since 2017.
24. How do you edit your pictures? I add a border and make collages using photoscape, apart from that my screenshots are unedited.
25. What expansion/game/stuff pack do you want next? Don't really care to be honest I haven't got all the packs as it is and regret paying money for some of the ones I do have! I'd like it to be something weird and unexpected though.
26. What expansion/game/stuff pack is your favorite so far? Expansion: City Living, will always be my favourite
Game Pack: StrangerVille, it's a bit different and as basic as the story is it does bring the world to life a little
Stuff Pack: I like Paranormal, always quite liked Movie Hangout too
I know this has been going round a while and I've totally lost track of who's done it so anyway I will tag @occultpuppy @akitasimblr @devotedsims @lolathelotus @nurbsfirby @nuttydragonbird @dragonflydaydreamer @myverycoolnickname @plumbobster @breakfastwithbeb @emasdf @satureja13 @whatawhim @introvertedfox @sweetpyxels
As always feel free to ignore if you already did this/prefer not to 😊

i think it has been long enough so i can say this, bg3 ending spoilers ahead
bg3 only has one (1) ending, every other 'ending' is just non-standard gameover
and the 'evil' playthrough isn't complete as well
the one (1) ending is where you tell the netherbrain to commit die, and the gate prevails once more, if you try to do anything else you get:
try to take the brain for yourself and conquer the world? illithid gamer chair, fade to black
same as 1 but you do it for bhaal instead? illithid gamer chair, fade to black
try to save the world but you didn't resist bhaal? well too fucking bad he takes over regardless of of your choices, and there's four of them, first three will result in him taking your body, which doesn't even work in the cutscene because right after he does the game cuts to you rushing to karlach LMAO
4. 4th choice will let you kill yourself before bhaal could take over, which honestly goes pretty hard i won't lie i just wish it lasted more than 20 seconds
every other 'variance' is not even part of the ending to the actual 'plot', they are character endings i.e. lae'zel going to war w vlaakith or not, sending wyll and karlach both to avernus, etc
this is why i was also thinking they just didn't cook 'evil' playthrough enough because if you are evil most choices actually don't matter
unless i've missed something, which i very much could have, when i killed isobel (through killing aylin) i couldn't find jaheira anywhere, not even a body, the game implies that she's '''''retired''''' instead of killed off so i assumed i could find her in act 3? nope just literally nothing, friend who was watching me play was confused as well
and from what i've heard minthara doesn't even have her own personal quest, unlike halsin, which is bonkers, i don't even like her but i hope all minthara enjoyers out there get what they want
volo criticizes you for being awful and then... just peaces out, never to be seen again
i will give them that if you are a paladin durge, sarevok actually makes a comment on it
and of course the interaction with helsik in general
it's upsetting that they imply ascendant astarion could make a difference, but of course it doesn't
and then allying with gortash also makes no difference my guy just gets snapped regardless
idk, if i have to put how i feel about an evil playthrough in an easy way, it would be "it's unserious" because it is lmao they clearly are trying to nudge you into being 'good' which is fine and all but i just wish being 'bad' made more sense without the game trying to guilt trip you back into being 'good' because even with my complains i still had a lot of fun, just wish they have real 'alternate' endings
end rant, i just wanted to get this out of my system
and maybe we will have a proper durgetash ending in bg3 definitive edition *gets shot*

My closing thoughts on my first multichapter fic, Conspiracy Against the Truth
I have a lot to say about this fic. If you've been reading my notes consistently since early chapters, you know that this fic started in 2019 when I was in this fandom the previous time, but I only got around to writing and posting it in 2024. Because this AU has been in my head for so long, it feels like a safe space for me. Here, I'm comfortable, I know where everything is, I know everyone who resides in this world, and it's always comforted me through difficult times in daydreams and nightdreams alike. I'm very grateful for the opportunity to share this special place with you all.
My writing has its flaws, that much I'm aware of. I'm an amateur fanfic author who doesn't actually spend much time reading or writing, but rather daydreaming. This was the first multichapter fic I've written and got around to posting instead of abandoning half way through. I'm thankful that you all were patient with this fic's flaws and stuck around to the end. Writing and posting this fic had been the most fun I've ever had in my life, and I'll cherish this time period forever. I'll never forget the excitement I get whenever I write a scene I'm proud of that I'm almost too eager about to wait for the usual update time. Every time I get an email from ao3 saying that I have a new comment on this fic, I get very giddy, and reading your kind words truly warm my heart. This fic's comment section has been reserved for people with an ao3 account from the start, this is because I've had awful experiences with anonymous messages/comments, so I apologize for any of my readers who couldn't interact with the fic beyond giving kudos. Please know that I appreciate your support either way, and I'm overjoyed that so many people, with an account or not, enjoy this fic so much.
The experience of writing and posting this fic can never be replicated, I'm sure about that. Writing this fic felt like taking a trip down memory lane, visiting an old home and making renovations while reminiscing about the past. This fic, for the most part, came naturally to me due to how familiar I am with the AU. This, combined with Summer break arriving while it was still early in the fic, made it so I could maintain a schedule of weekly updates all the way through. This schedule carried me through executive disfunctions, writer's blocks, and perfectionism. Because I had a schedule to stick by, I was forced to post chapters that I would've spent months rewriting otherwise, because I feel like my writing will never be perfect. What I always tend to forget is fanfiction doesn't have to be perfect, this fic is proof of that. As long as the authors and readers are having fun or generally enjoying it, that's the most important part. This schedule struck the perfect balance of never letting me sit on a chapter for too long, while giving me time to reread and edit finished chapters before posting. I don't think I'll be able to replicate this with a story that I'm less familiar with, though. It's a little sad to say, but this might be where my fic writing journey peaks, on my first multichapter. I don't think I'll ever stop writing, but the memory of writing and posting this fic is something I'll always hold dear. Thank you for being part of this memory.
This isn't the end of this AU. Frankly, I don't think I'm capable of letting go of it. While Conspiracy Against the Truth as a fic is coming to an end, I will be posting an anthology of the same AU in a separate work. This work will consist of missing scenes from CATT canon, non-canon scenes, cut scenes, alternative events, and post-canon events. As of now, I'm not sure if I'll make a proper sequel to CATT, but the anthology fic will give you an idea of how things are after the events of the initial fic.
Lastly, I would like to give special thanks to my friends for helping me through the process of writing and posting this fic. Thank you Star for always being a supportive reader and giving advice as a fellow writer. Thank you Cyn for your kinds words about my work. Thank you Dreamical for your support even though you don't really read this fic. Thank you Maaiams for encouraging me to post this fic in the first place, this fic wouldn't have come this far without you. Finally, thank you, who took time out of their days to read this fic. Thank you for coming along with me on this journey, and I sincerely hope you had a good time doing it.
If you have any questions related to this fic or me in general, feel free to send your asks on my tumblr, or leave a comment in the final chapter.
Sincerely, ischleep.

/ᐠ-˕-マ~ my personal guide !
𝐰𝐞𝐥𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞... !
...this is a guide that I have made that will help you decipher all of my little fanfic, edit, and shifting terms. keep in mind that while some of these are useful across other profiles/platforms/websites, some of the terms and their meanings may differ elsewhere rather than on my account (hence why I use words "my" and "personal").
so, without further ado, continue reading to see what everything means and how I use it in my works. it's long, but worth it, trust🤞🏽.
───────── 《 .°•♡•°. 》 ──────────
/ᐠ-˕-マ~ each list is in alphabetical order :) !
𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐟𝐚𝐧𝐟𝐢𝐜 -
《 ♡ 》 adjective!character : this can get used by either myself or requesters to specify certain traits for a character to have. also includes reader(s), because remember, you are (technically) a character in the story, too :). there can also be as many adjectives as one wants. for example, it could look something like:ㅤpopular!social!reader x loner!quiet!billy batson.
《 ♡ 》 angst : super melodramatic, lot's of drama stemming from problems either caused by outside forces, and/or the reader/characters themselves. can have either bad, unresolved endings, or good "fix-it" type endings. not to be confused with hurt/comfort, which is implied in the name that it's naturally supposed to be a story/fic that hurts you with angst, and then comforts you with fluff at the end. these are my personal fave to write, besides crackfics ♡.
《 ♡ 》 au : this stands for alternate universe. let's say I write a fanfic for, I dunno, henry danger, right? as you know, henry danger is already set in a specific universe. well, as a writer, I have the creative liberty to literally change the entire setting. I can make henry danger take place during the fifties or in space or whatever requested lol🤷🏽♀️.
《 ♡ 》 crackfic : (be warned, I stole this definition from a website 'cuz I couldn't gather the proper words to explain it myself lmao) named after the drug to imply that it can only be the product of a deranged mind, crack fic is identified by its absurd, surprising, or ridiculous premise. the plotline might be twisted into a knot, the fic might be a thick parody, or the fic might feature an unlikely or rare pairing ("crack pairing"). sometimes random, nonsensical, or stream-of-thought fics are termed crack, but other crack fics proceed logically, in character, and with internal consistency from their bizarre starting points. the former is generally derided by fandom as badfic while the latter is often praised. generally, these are humor pieces.
《 ♡ 》 crossover : this means/implies that two (or more) separate stories/fics, universes, and/or fandoms will be blended or written together as one. fair warning, I've never actually done this before (yesIhaveI'mjusttooembarrassedtoeverlookbackonit), but I'd be happy to do it now :). on the actual fanfic somewhere on the page, it would look like this, for example:ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤmaze runner x hunger games (crossover/au).
《 ♡ 》 fluff : this means that the story/fic will be super soft with light elements and no dark/angsty themes. it's pure comfort with no ill will/intent, nothing dangerous, very safe and fun :). good vibes only, supa' good vibes only/ᐠ♡˕♡マ✨️.
《 ♡ 》 headcanon : these are a list of assorted, non-ordered thoughts on the character(s) that I have. if requested, there can be a specific theme or topic to base these headcannons upon, but as I stated, they're basically just lose thoughts I come up with on the fly (and edit, ofc, I edit all my works to the best of my ability before posting). with context, you'll know whether or not the headcannons are specific, but for example, a title or something could look like this:ㅤdarby harper x clairvoyant!reader (headcannons).
《 ♡ 》 hurt/comfort : it's basically where the fic I write will have plot points/themes/elements that will "hurt" its reader, whether the bad vibes are happening to the character, the reader, or just bad vibes in general. it'll give you all the feels, very depressing and/or dark, but don't worry. you will not end this fic without being comforted and lifted back up in some ways, shape, and/or form.
《 ♡ 》 hurt/comfort/revenge : this one I'm pretty sure I made up, but it's the overall same vibes as hurt/comfort, except also, reader get their revenge >:). I rarely ever see stuff like this get written into fics, so I have to enter my Thanos era and do it myself, apparently. this goes out to all my petty readers out there who still wanna be softly loved: I gotchu, bae, we gon' fuck the person that hurt you up, don't worry🤞🏽.
《 ♡ 》 imagine : these are longer fics with fleshed out plot/themes/thoughts (and probably some of my best works, if you're on the hunt for quality💀). they can range between something short, sweet, and simple, or long ass stories that can even have multiple parts ! as long as there's no one around to stop me, my self control pretty much determines the length of an imagine lmao.
《 ♡ 》 masterlist : a masterlist is a complete list of all my works pertaining to one specific fandom and/or character. in my case, each fandom has its own masterlist filled with all of the characters names, with a complete set of all of the works/content done for them underneath.
《 ♡ 》 oc : this stands for "own character" and would typically be something others request me to do. I, personally, don't really have any oc's that aren't apart of my original works, so...yeah lol. if requested, it might look something like this:ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤpeter parker x ocㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤand then their oc would be described to me so I can write it :).
《 ♡ 》 oneshot : typically my shorter writings, intended to be written off of the top of my head with either very quick closure at the end, or maybe even no closure at all. basically, if you want a glorified cliffhanger (that may or may not ever get finished or a second part), this is what you want, and it'll be specified somewhere on the page of my work.
ooc : this stands for "out of character." this implies that a certain character may behave in a way that differs from what is originally presented in the media they're in. this is usually spoken as a prior warning/apology to some less than high quality writing, but of course, you are always free to request a character to be ooc :).
《 ♡ 》 original work : anything that I write that isn't fanfiction is an original work of mine. it will be specified on the page, so it's not really something that needs to be worried about :).
《 ♡ 》 pov : this stands for "point of view", which is basically something that tells you what/who's perspective you're seeing/reading things from. I rarely do anything that switches between pov's, but that doesn't mean I can't or won't. it's just not my favorite way to write, that's all lol.
《 ♡ 》 prompt : this is a short summary/info-dump on the story. it helps you (reader) to get a feel for what the impending work is about.
《 ♡ 》 scenarios : the way I write them is kind of like a staggered mix of short writings/oneshots and listed thoughts/headcannons. again, these are kind of meant to be written off of the top of my head, no real order, but definitely a little bit more detailed. these are also some of my faves to write ♡.
《 ♡ 》 ship/shipping : it's a play on words from the saying, "that ship has sailed." a ship refers to two characters whom of which you want to get/be/stay together. you root for them, love them, or can even ship a character with yourself (which is the whole point of the fanfic work I do💀). the act of shipping yourself with a character can be what guides you and others into writing "x reader" work.
《 ♡ 》 smut/nsfw : it's word p*rn, guys. that's all it is, it's just written smexxy times between you and your (aged up/of age🫵🏽...) faves. others might be more familiar with the citrus chart (a.k.a. lime, lemons, grapefruit, etc.). I don't do that because I've stated before, I'm probably not going to do anything super heavy/k!nky. nsfw stands for "not safe/suitable for work", and I typically use that acronym as a warning before you start reading anything in an...*coughs*ㅤㅤㅤo p e n environment🥴...
《 ♡ 》 timeline : this informs you (the reader) of the specific time the events in the story/fic transpire. when I write, I personally base the timeline/setting off of, again, ✨️vibes✨️ and what makes most sense. but as always, you are free to request a specific time/order of events for me to write.
《 ♡ 》 tw/content : this will let you know of any possible triggers and what overall content is in the/any content I make. tw stands for "trigger warning".
《 ♡ 》 + reader : in my works/descriptions, the "+" sign in "+ reader" indicates that the relationship between you and whatever character(s) written is sibling-like and/or completely platonic. no romantic feelings whatsoever (unless it's like an unrequited love or something else of the sort type of deal/plot). for example:ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤdamian wayne + reader.
《 ♡ 》 x reader : in this instance, the "x" in the term "x reader" implies that the relationship between two characters is romantic. again, I'm sure that there can be certain exceptions, but for the most part, it's what I said it is. for example:ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤgray fullbuster x reader.

《 ♡ 》 collage : an assortment of pictures edited together to create one (aesthetically pleasing) picture.
《 ♡ 》 duration : the amount of time a video/edit takes to end/how long an edit is.
《 ♡ 》 moodboard : kind of like a collage, it's an assortment of pictured edited together to make one. the difference is that the pictures used focus more on the vibe/aesthetic of the character rather than the character themselves.
《 ♡ 》 pfp : stands for "profile picture."
《 ♡ 》 scenepack : it's a video that holds any and all clips of a certain character or characters that can be used to make edits or for whatever other reasons. in other words, a pack of scenes lol.

《 ♡ 》 cr : current reality. the reality you are currently in at this exact moment in time.
《 ♡ 》 dr : desired reality. the reality you are going to shift your consciousness to.
《 ♡ 》 wr : waiting room/reality. a reality you can shift to where the concept is basically like waiting in a lobby/room to decide where to shift to from there.
《 ♡ 》 subconscious : of or concerning the part of the mind of which one is not fully aware but which influences one's actions and feelings.
《 ♡ 》 consciousness : the fact of awareness by the mind of itself and the world.
《 ♡ 》 script/scripting : it's basically exactly what it implies. a script (no matter how detailed, short, or long, because you really don't even need to have one) that allows/helps you to focus on exactly what reality you intend to shift to. keep in mind that you do not make/create a "new" reality. you can not create what already exists. you're simply just becoming aware of a reality, and a script can help you do/focus on that.

Hullo! 🦇 I hope it's ok to send an ask! I tried to find an faq or similar to answer first, so massive apologies if the answer is already out there, somewhere super obvious! XD
Are you opposed to folks making edits using your screenshots, if proper credit and linking are given?
Sorry to bug you! And thank you for your time and for sharing all these wonderful screenshots! The Drak Pack ones in particular are a gift! ^__^
It's perfectly fine to send in asks!
I've never actually been asked that before, but I wouldn't have any issues with you or anyone else using my screenshots to make some Drak Pack edits. (It was nice of you to ask and be willing to give credit too so thank you for that.) I've made some edits using my own screenshots before so I know firsthand how fun they can be to make.
And I'm glad you're enjoying the screenshots I'm posting! The Drak Pack screenshots are some of my favorites to post, and tbh the main reason I started this blog originally was to have place to put Drak Pack (and Goober and the Ghost Chasers) screenshots, so it's nice to know other people like seeing them too. I believe I've got screenshots from every episode but "Hideout Hotel" on this blog now (though at some point I would like to go back to some of the earliest episodes I posted for like "Dred Goes Hollywood" and post some new ones), so there should be a good amount to browse through.
#thewizardwyrm#in case anyone is curious why i haven't posted any hideout hotel ones yet its because its my overall fav episode and i want to save it#save it for what i'm not sure but i suppose i'll know when it comes along

Hi, @chaosheadspace here. (Anon cause sideblog and stuff).
I have a question regarding your playlist for the playlist you made for your Dreamling band AU. (Which is very good, btw. I'm looking for new music atm and was elated being greeted with someone saying "I want to skin you alive". Glorious.)
Did you choose the songs you think they might have played or did you choose songs that embodied the characters and the setting for you? Please feel free to ramble at length.
Hello! Oh goodness... I'm so happy to receive this ask. I've never thought much about music while writing fics (I don't even listen to music while I'm writing, I find it very distracting) but given this is a BAND au, it was almost inevitable (90% of the songs on the playlist were added before I even published the fic). Allow me to ramble, since you've given me permission haha.
All of these songs already exist somewhere on my Spotify, I listen to a lot of indie and alt rock and remember coming up with the idea for Bolt in the Blue and daydreaming A LOT about Endless as a band and what they might sound like. So, while I was commuting to work, cleaning my apartment, doing laundry, I had my Spotify on a constant shuffle and every time a song popped up that made me think about Endless, I tossed it into a playlist. A lot of edits were made before I decided to publish the final draft lol.
So while this did start out as what I imagined Endless would sound like, I also started to think about what each member might contribute to said playlist. I thought of it like... when you're at a show and music is playing through the speakers while you wait in the crowd and the stage is being set up. I could picture the whole band making a playlist and contributing equally.
I tell you, and myself, that it's not that deep. It's music that gives me vibes for the band only, and doesn't reflect the fic at all. Well, except one song. Mile Deep Hollow by IAMX is such a Dream song to Hob that it makes me vibrate while listening to it now:
So thank you You need to know That you dragged me out Of a mile deep hollow And I love you You brought me home 'Cause you dragged me out Of a mile deep hollow
I mean... no explanation needed. Hob is Dream's light and is the one who inspires him and drags him up from a deep darkness (kind of spoiler but eh, I like to think I'm pretty predictable and we could all see that happening from a mile away).
But the other tracks? Eh... I mean some definitely give off vibes but I wouldn't connect any of them to the fic itself. Even the fic title, Bolt in the Blue, while obviously taken from the LPX song, is not indicative of the story at all (that's a separate post though, it's all a metaphor lmao). Which is why, secret's out, I'm currently building a new playlist that will go along with the fic chapter by chapter lol. But that won't be ready until Bolt in the Blue is finished. I kind of realized, very recently, that I wanted a proper playlist to go along with the themes and characters in the fic.
So, while Endless' Personal Playlist is exactly that- just songs that one: I imagine the band could actually write and perform but also two: all made together and music they'd all rock out to in their tour bus... this new playlist I'm making will accurately describe and emulate the plot. I'm having a fucking blast building it and can't wait to share it with everyone :)
And just for fun, here's who I think added what track to the Endless playlist (as I've stated in the past, music is subjective and who you connect each song to is up to interpretation. And here's mine, and yes, there are some repeats):
Dream:
Poison by Alice Cooper Mile Deep Hollow & The Great Shipwreck of Life by IAMX Nothing Personal by Night Riots Don't You Forget About Me by Billy Idol
Death:
Bolt in the Blue & Slide by LPX Stone Cold Crazy by Queen Shout by Placebo Holy Mother by Starbenders
Despair:
Human & High by Anavae Blue Monday by Orgy Everything Black by Unlike Pluto Stone Cold Crazy by Queen
Desire: High by Avavae Youth Gone Wild by Skid Row Shout by Placebo Modern Day Cain by IDKHBTFM Hang on to Yourself & Massacre, The New American Dream by Palaye Royale
Delirium:
Maniac by Carpenter Brut Youth Gone Wild by Skid Row Call Me a Saint by YOKANA Don't You Forget About Me & Mony Mony by Billy Idol
Alright, I'm finished lol THANK YOU for letting me ramble!! I hope everyone reading enjoys the rock n roll or at the very least discovers something new from the playlist :D

Reading This Week
I am back home and reading like my life depends on it! I'm going to start working through articles I have saved to my computer bookmarks and such
Abandoned:
Pregnant Butch by A.K. Summers i tried! i've been meaning to try reading this for ages! but i got turned off by goodreads reviews saying theres a transphobic screed in the middle, and then just not clicking with the storytelling style.... oh well...
Finished:
The Secret to Superhuman Strength by Alison Bechdel (colored by Holly Rae Taylor) I kinda stayed up later than I technically meant to finish reading this. Bechdel really is a fantastic memoirist
Started & Finished:
As Yet Unsent by Tamsyn Muir tbh, kinda wish i'd read this before Nona so that I would have a tad more context for like the connections between the other House characters. but this was pretty great as a quick read, and really enlightening for the inner life of a character that I never really cared about before
"I wrote a story for a friend" by Julian Gough this is the personal essay by the guy that wrote the Minecraft End Poem about the trouble surrounding its creation and copyright. I find it kinda funny when he's like "the capitalism game makes me sad bc it gets in the way of the art game and the friendship game.... but there's nothing inherently wrong with the capitalism game!" he's got the spirit but ain't quite there yet yknow? anywho. one day I will actually beat Minecraft and read the story in its proper context!
What Did You Eat Yesterday? Vol. 1-5 by Fumi Yoshinaga, translated by Maya Rosewood (1-3) and Yoshito Hinton (4-5) now I did not intend for reading this manga to be a christmas season read, but somewhere in the beginning of vol 2 or 3 it was just christmas season within the manga itself!! anyway this is a pretty chill slice of life manga, half cooking/recipes, half daily life for a middle aged gay couple in 2000s Tokyo, and it's been a fun easy read
Nectar edited by Tab Kimpton & Harry-Anne Bentley most thoughts remain in my private journal for this one, but I can say that kinda like the last one only like 2 or 3 of the stories within actually like. worked for me on an artistic style level. still delighted that this exists
Ouran High School Host Club, Vol. 2-3 by Bisco Hatori, translated by Kenichiro Yagi while i'm enjoying the nostalgia of reading the manga version of a childhood anime, i find the panels of this really difficult to read? also this is the last volume available through my library so i probably won't read more for a while
Decolonizing Queer Games and Play from First Person Scholar, edited by Khee Hoon Chan:
Editorial by Khee Hoon Chan A Boy is a Gun: Weaponizing Black Gender in Video Games by Oluwatayo Adewole Unmaking and Undoing: A Trans* Reading of Katamari Damacy by Julie Fukunaga Interviw with Caro Asercion by Olivia Popp
working my way through articles that i've saved to my bookmarks bar! i absolutely want to check out more stuff like this
Masters in this Hall by K.J. Charles now THIS is a deliberate Christmas read for me, as it's the surprise un-advertised Christmas novella from one of my favorite romance authors! it was fun and funnily enough, most of took place in the days following Christmas. it was fun to see Jerry again (this time as a side character), and kinda made me want to go reread Any Old Diamonds since it's been a couple years now
Started:
Secrets Typed in Blood by Stephen Spotswood YES YES YES i am only a few chapters in at time of writing, but i am so happy to be back with my delightful butch private detective duo. i've been waiting for this inpatiently ever since i finished the second book in the series and i'm so glad to be back to get my historical mystery fix
Hen Fever by Olivia Waite
this is another surprise christmas novella from a favorite histrom author and the cover is absolutely Delightful. i'm gonna try and savor it but i make no promises

a retrospect on directing my first [proper] short film
first blog!
youtube
At the beginning of this year, I created a short film for my Production I class. The whole point of that class is to create a film start to finish — including writing, planning, budgeting, casting, and of course, the actual production and postproduction. It was a very intense class, but it has been my favorite I've taken so far and has perhaps taught me the most about filmmaking.
I wanted to make my film about the mundanity and repetitiveness of day-to-day life, and how exhausting the life can get. Of course, in my limited worldview as a third-year college student, I've not been too exposed to this lifestyle yet, at least personally. But it is something I worry about in my future, and parts of the film reflect the thoughts I have daily. The idea of the film was to be a bit existentially questioning, questioning what purpose we have when faced with the same thing every day and a constant stream of juggling modern day problems, like debt, or workaholism, health issues, miscarriage... This film puts all of that in video form through the perspective of Keith Gray, who narrates his day to day activities as if they were some sort of lengthy to-do list — something appropriate with the title of the film being "How to Be a Productive Member of Society". It's a bit ironic though, no? Many of the things Keith does in the film feel like things you're supposed to do to "survive" or "be productive", yet actively contribute to his downfall and upset.
If it wasn't made plain obvious by now, this film took heavy influence from the Radiohead song/poem "Fitter Happier" off of their Ok Computer album.
In the first few classes we had, we were tasked to form our groups and start preproduction very soon, with some guidance of course. My group consisted of myself and two girls; Heidi, my friend whom I've worked with at my college's TV station and was very talented; and Janelle, someone who I'd never really met before but brought some amazing ideas to the table in the initial group-forming phase of class. I explained my idea for a film, and they were all in.
Pitch Video
the first thing my group did was start a Google Doc to serve as our sort of "whiteboard" to jot all of our collective ideas for what direction this film would go in. We grouped different ideas into "Routines"; the film goes through about 6 different routines with some variation between them. We typed down every thing, even the most mundane and arbitrary, that we could think would be a part of the average day and what might be expected of the average citizen. As we went on, this eventually was reformatted into a very early version of our script.
Before getting too far, however, we were required to make a "pitch video," which was a short video to explain what our film would be about and to get ideas of our visual aesthetic. This was the stage where many groups would "test-shoot" some scenes and editing tricks. For ours, we opted to go the much more experimental route, making our pitch video consist of many unsettling clips to represent daily life occurrences, followed by some clips of me talking about "how to make our film" with some heavy effects overlayed. It was meant to be kind of creepy! We even included an instrumental version of Fitter Happier as background music for the pitch (alongside The Cycle of Abuse - Emeralds, Wandering in our Times - Laurie Spiegel and kopfmusik - C418), to pay homage to the inspiration for our theme.
Another fun little fact: My dad has served as a major inspiration to me with filmmaking, and even reviewed some versions of the script. To pay respect to that, I included random clips from past films and videos he has created in the "montage" part of the pitch video. The rest of that montage footage was either stock footage, or random video clips I had laying around from previous projects of mine.
Writing
The class required the script to be somewhere between 7-10 pages. this was about what our professor expected students to be able to complete throughout the three and a half-month class, as the general rule of thumb is that each page of a script is roughly equivalent to a minute of screen time. With our film going the experimental route with little focus on character-to-character dialogue and heavier reliance on intrapersonal thoughts and voiceover, our first script draft ended up at 27 pages.
Now, our professor was flexible to grant a few extra pages to films looking to do a bit more than the standard 7-10, on the condition that they would put extra effort into preproduction and that they knew they were signing up for extra work and headaches. This was not our case at all. We were at 27 pages, and our professor pretty much flat out told us there would be no way we'd be able to accomplish that. We heard our share of the "never in my many years of teaching this class have I had a script this long, and even the ones that have been close haven't been able to finish."
Side note: I'm a very "go big or go home" kind of guy, at least when it comes to writing.. I'm known for run-on sentences too.
After many meetings with our professor, we agreed that we could bring our script down under 15 pages. It hurt, and it was hard to choose what to get rid of, but it became easy when we looked at things with more of a logistical point of view rather than a visionary one. Given the constraints of the class, time we had, and money, it became easy to realize that we weren't going to be able to give Keith a young daughter... or have a bunch of extras for a wedding scene... or cast a younger Keith... or film at a nice house for an intimate honeymoon scene... or film at a grocery store... and we certainly didn't need a bunch of filler scenes of Keith driving his car. This is when I started to notice I'm a very ambitious writer, too. And though it always hurts to make cuts to your writing for logistical reasons, I eventually accepted that the meaning of the film would still be conveyed properly.
Our next draft got things down to 20 pages, and after some more cuts, we managed 17 pages for our final draft. Our professor was still a bit worried if we would be able to accomplish it or not, but we explained that the film wasn't actually going to end up at 17 minutes, and that each page would speed through quickly due to the very fast-paced presentation. To that, we got a friendly "Good luck, please prove me wrong." So that's what we set out to do.
Preproduction and planning
This was by far the most challenging part of the process. One of the things our professor made very clear was the difficulty in gaining the 11 locations we would require for our different shots. This was certainly the worst part of preproduction, as this involved making many phone calls, leaving voicemails, lots of emailing back and forth... and lots of no's. Our college has a handbook for films produced within our major, and one of the requirements is that every location signs a contract allowing the usage. Fair enough, but this was hard, especially as college students with an extremely limited budget for this film.
In fact, one of the hardest locations was randomly Keith's apartment location, which was actuSally my girlfriend Bella's apartment. You see, we had to have permission from either the owner of the property or management on behalf of the owner. And her giant apartment complex was not too keen with the idea of college students filming inside a paying tenant's apartment, even with the tenant's approval, with their reasoning being due to construction in the building. It took a lot of persuasion and phone calls talking to different people at many management levels within the apartment complex to finally get the signature we needed (on the condition that our work was fully contained within that apartment, and not in any hallways or common areas, which we hadn't planned on anyway). We came close to getting screwed there.
The rest of the locations weren't as hard, but we did have to cut a few scenes due to not having any locations; the most significant being a church wedding scene. Lots of our locations actually came from Kent State's campus itself, which was a big help. It also helped to consolidate some locations and use them for multiple purposes.. as well as using multiple nearby locations in one shoot day. For example, the reception area of the office we filmed the office scenes in was used as the doctors waiting room, and one of the empty offices was the examination room. And the restaurant (a campus dining hall) and gym (a fitness room in one of the residence halls) were right next-door.
We also had to cast at this point as well. Luckily, as students, we get a free subscription to Backstage.com, a website for actors and creatives posting and responding to casting calls. We also reached out to our campus theatre program, but due to the slightly older roles, we found all of our talent but one (story on that later) from Backstage. We held virtual auditions, and found some great local actors; Matt, Katie and Brad.
We then had to figure out scheduling, costumes, and crew. Luckily, I was able to focus on more of the creative side of things while the producers handled lots of the logistical things. Spreadsheets were a godsend throughout this process, as was a production management tool we found called Yamdu.
This website allowed us to import our script, and automatically detected every location, props, costumes, as well as characters. With this tool, we were able to generate lists for all of those as well as what their associated real-world counterpart would be (i.e. the "gym" would be the Kent State Rotunda Rec Room), plus our shot-lists/storyboards, budget breakdowns, beat boards, and call sheets. This made things so much easier and saved us many hours, as instead of highlighting the script by hand for each thing we would need to plan, we could do it digitally and link it to it's respective category and asset. We could even upload our receipts from purchases we made to keep a running total of our expenditures and try to stay within budget. Yamdu cost $9/month, but it was worth every penny, which ended up being only $27 anyway.
We had to also purchase and create some of our props. We tried to not overspend in this category, instead relying on mostly items we already individually possessed to serve as props and set decoration, but there were a few things that required some extra care. This involved printing medical posters to make our "doctors office" feel legit, and printing fake bills and mail for Keith to open; we also had to purchase the food that Keith prepares (well, technically it was prepared by our food stylist, Lochlan).
We also had to reserve equipment through our college's Student Resource Lab, a resource for tools and equipment for video and film shoots. This involved many, many lights, C-stands, cameras, rigs, diffusers, microphones, tripods, audio recorders and more. This was a difficult process, as they only have a limited number of equipment, and so there was never guaranteed availability, with many other students working on their films at the same time.
We then held our table reading. This was the first interaction our cast members had, and we got to explain some things about the film as well as rehearse some elements. Now, as I mentioned, this film isn't heavy with character dialogue, instead it's mostly intrapersonal. However, it was a good chance to hear the script read out loud and to feel the emotions of it all — the first thing Matt (who played Keith) said after we finished the table read was "Wow. That's real."
We also got to rehearse the kissing scenes we had, which was important to practice and set boundaries with things. Our intimacy coordinator, Noah Brock, came from the theatre program at Kent State, and WOW, did they know what they were doing. They worked with Matt and Katie, our leads, for close to an hour to turn the kissing scenes into a sort of "rhythm", almost as if it were a dance being choreographed. It was very interesting to watch, and made our actors the most comfortable.
Production
Filming officially began at 11:29 am on March 12, 2023, although crew were there as early as 8 am to start preparing the location. We were filming in my girlfriend Bella's apartment, so we had to start moving things around to make this look like Keith's bachelor pad, which his later wife would eventually move into. We stripped a lot of the personality of the apartment away, as Keith is meant to be a pretty plain and vanilla guy. This meant lots of blank white walls and little decor. In addition, we had to blackout the windows of the bedroom to sell the "nighttime" effect. This was achieved with some blackout material, dark blankets and tons of gaff tape on the inside of the window (this would typically be done on the opposite side of the window, but the apartment was on the 2nd floor, so this wasn't really doable.) Luckily, the window had blinds to help cover the blackout material. Some crew spent about 45 minutes setting that to make sure absolutely no light was shining through, and it turned out great — outside, it was 11 in the morning, but inside, it was 11 at night.
After 100 or so shots (!!), we wrapped at 6:32 pm, with a fourth take of scene 40, shot AA; a shot of Keith and Amanda asleep in bed together. We then had to clean up and part ways, but this was only the first of our 6 total shooting days; we'd be picking back up again over the next weekend with our office scenes.
The rest of the shooting days were mostly a blur. On the day we filmed in the office, one of our actors (who was supposed to play the Coworker character) unfortunately wasn't able to make it to set the day due to extraneous circumstances, which threw off the rest of shooting that day. We ended up bringing in an actor who was very luckily available last minute, and since the role was pretty minor, we did so without audition. This is something I never hope to have to do again, but the show had to go on, even if they weren't the initial casting choice we planned. And Kelli, who took on the role, did a great job filling those shoes last minute. This happening, however, lost us a lot of time, and forced us to have to come back to the office location for an extra shooting day to film the rest of our scenes, as we only had that office for a limited amount of time.
The worst part about this was the office was initially not very friendly to the idea of us coming back for an extra day of shooting, as they didn't anticipate how our film shoot would affect their workday. For some reason, they didn't want us to film on a weekend like we'd hoped, so instead they opted for us to film on a Friday, while there were ACTUAL STAFF working in the office. They weren't necessarily in our way, but we were definitely in theirs, and I felt bad to be so interruptive to their workday, but this was out of our control. We could also overhear their conversations about their annoyance with our filming throughout the day, which was a bit awkward. So I guess that explains why they didn't want us back, but we had our professor contact them, which ended up getting us the location for the extra day we needed.
I think this is a good time to note that every location we filmed at we did our absolute best to clean it up BETTER than it was before we got there. This included taking photos of the original layout and setup of the office so that we could put everything back to how it was. We made very sure to stick to this, and I even had some crew stay behind to ensure we did things like take out the trash and wipe surfaces down that we had been near.
Another hiccup we encountered was towards the end of March. We were supposed to shoot at a lake for our outdoor honeymoon scene and wedding scene (we had moved it to be outdoors since the church said no). The night before this shoot was supposed to take place, a windstorm took out electricity to a pretty big portion of Kent, and knocked down many trees and power lines. Worried about how our location was going to look, my producer Heidi and I drove to the location the night before, only to find it inaccessible due to many downed trees and power lines; you couldn't even get into the parking lot.
We ended up finding another park close by, and opted to film there instead, as we were not going to be able to add any extra shooting days with our cast and crew's schedules. We did film here without a permit, but in our defense, our emails and calls went unanswered. We didn't run into any issues while there, luckily — and I think it ended up being a better location anyway!
We then had our final production day on April 13. This was the extra day we needed to film a few more crucial office scenes, as well as our bar scene and the shots of our characters walking outside. It was a bit of a packed day, but we managed to persevere, and ended up wrapping at 6:54 pm, with a shot of Keith walking to his car. We cheered, exchanged hugs, and then said our goodbyes. The film was finally done — now time for postproduction!
Postproduction
The postproduction process had actually begun a little bit before production completed. The class had required that we submit a rough-draft edition of the film on April 11th, two days before our final [extra] shoot day. This wasn't originally planned, but alas, the hiccups we ran into with production caused this to happen, which in turn caused the rough-draft to be incomplete and feature more placeholder shots than I wanted, but that was alright. I did stay up for 10 straight hours working on it, which led into a period of me being awake for nearly 40 hours since I was so busy. I do not recommend replicating that at all.
Luckily, some steps I took during preproduction and production helped make postproduction smooth and easy, something that was extremely necessary for a project of our ambition to be completed by the required time. Some of these steps included the usage of MovieSlate, which I spoke a little bit about earlier.
MovieSlate allowed the shots we took to be directly linked with our notes and reports onset, utilizing timecode, file metadata, and the robust keyword logging system inside Final Cut Pro, which was the NLE I was using for postproduction.
This saved me hours in post, because once I imported the shots from the camera, they could be automatically linked to every single piece of information I had on them, instead of me (or, what would typically be the job of an Assistant Editor) inputting and sorting that manually. This included data such as the scene and take numbers, any notes, and whether the take was good or not (among many more pieces of data). This all automatically showed up as keywords in Final Cut Pro, so I could sort clips by that criteria, instead of referring to separate reports and logs on paper.
I primarily handled postproduction; I had hoped to bring on a good friend of mine to do some color grading work on the film, but his schedule did not allow for it. For a similar reason, the film actually doesn't have a superb audio mix; I had to handle that as well since I did not have anybody who was available to be devoted to such. And since I had not yet taken Kent State's Sound for Picture class, there were clearly some oversights and mistakes I made in the audio mixing department. Luckily I was able to have an experienced friend assist in the audio booth while we were recording Keith's voiceover dialogue.
I finally finished editing at the end of April, after many many hours. In our final two classes of the semester, we got to watch all the films made, and discuss/critique them after; a valuable part of the experience.
Reflection
I learned a lot while making this film. Not only was it my first true film set experience directing, but it was also the first time working with real actors and real locations for things, and having to plan all of that out. I learned a lot about how to work with people, how to direct, how to and how not to plan, how to make things look good on camera, how to write, how to achieve your goals.... I could name so many things I learned, but it would fill up the whole page!
I'd say my biggest takeaway was to always be prepared for the unexpected. We had many unexpected scenarios pop up in this film, and though we felt like we were prepared, we weren't prepared enough, and perhaps some better planning for those rainy days would've somewhat eased the damage they caused.
I also learned that not everything has to be super ambitious. Though it worked out in this instance, it was an added headache, with planning for so many different days, as well as budget and resources, stuff like that.
I'm excited to work on more films in the future, and though this is the fourth film I've directed. this was a great introduction to the true film world.

If I can also just add...
DC itself has dozens upon dozens of different canons or continuities, with the same character having different personalities varying in level of maturity and seriousness especially for Batman.
If the writers behind DC can make their own continuities for different media, why should fanfics not be free to do the same?
The beauty of fanfiction is that we're able to write whatever we want without the same limitations the authors of official media are restricted by.
Hell if one wants to argue about DP fans writing DC characters as parodies of themselves like John "Soul Whore" Constantine of Brucie "Adoption Problem" Wayne... I see it as a gateway that gets people curious about the DC Comics and elements that the more accessible media like games and cartoons rarely if ever touched upon.
Hell before I fell down the DP x DC rabbit hole I barely knew how much of the Batfamily existed simply because shows and games never talk about them such as Cass or Steph.
But that curiosity SHOULD be an optional thing instead of something they should feel like they're forced to do at gunpoint when they write a DC character.
Nobody likes to feel like they should do homework, especially when there are so many different runs of DC Comics heroes that have been going on since the 1930's almost a century ago now, just to know who is the top, who is the bottom, and who is in the middle of the fucking sandwich for their smut between Bruce, Clark, and Diana.
Danny Phantom in turn is a very accessible media with a 3 Season Long Cartoon, a few comics that are just supplemental material, and a currently just started series comic continuation beginning with A Ghost in Time.
As a result the DPxDC community is a gateway for that introduction to DC proper through something far easier to access and can let them foster a love for DC to explore that side of the coin.
Besides it's fanfiction, something written for fun to be shared and show their love or interest in the community. It's rarely ever gonna live up to the same quality of writing as the people at DC who do it for a paycheck.
Edit: Coming back to this add something more. I also would like to mention that the person in question, to give them any credit at all, has made me step back during the times I've debated with them and their viewpoints.
They actually made me think about what I truly value in fanfiction and the creative freedom and expression against their own viewpoints. As well as making me question my own thoughts on Powerscaling regarding how overpowered many make Danny Phantom compared to the Justice League.
It made me truly think about what I have once heard referred to as Internal and External Powerscaling from the viewpoint of someone who has written their fair share of fanfics and of someone who has been invested in the Vs community for many years now, and if Danny being OP is truly merely bad writing or not.
I genuinely enjoyed the few debates we had though as they made me put things into perspective. Though I don't intend on bothering them anymore, it's honestly not worth it at this point.
Please remember
This fandom has tons of people who aren't fully familiar with both cannons (especially DC bc it's so expensive and has so many timelines).
Creators for this fandom change up so much to play in the sandbox that us Cannon and that's fine!!! That's the point of fan content.
But that is not an excuse to be rude to people for asking questions. Let's keep the fandom kind please.

Hello people! Thanks for tagging me this past week, I love your snippets always <3
Little writing rant coming, feel free to skip to the actual content, which is under the cut!
Writing is hard. I've barely written anything all month, and it's fine. Maybe I've finally made peace with the fact that writing is a hobby, and it should be fun and not feel like a chore, and that I don't owe anything to anyone. I'm getting better at not forcing myself to write when I don't feel like it, which was something I did at the beginning of the year—after years of writer's block, from last September to December I managed to write almost every day, and it felt so good that when January came and writer's block with it, I felt awful and forced myself to write more than once. It doesn't work and it just makes everything worse, so I'm happy that I'm finally being kinder to myself and to my limits.
BUT what bothers me now is that I genuinely want to write, and I'm so excited about so many projects... It's the physical act of writing that makes me nauseous, lately. I open the doc/notes app/Tumblr draft/notebook/app for recording (because I've tried many methods), and I'm filled with dread. Which makes me sad. I almost felt better when, at the beginning of the year, I simply didn't want to write. At least I didn't feel like I had too much creative energy and no way to let it out—I was just drained. Now I'm full of things that want to be written, and I can never turn them into words. But I'll get there. It's just frustrating, especially since right now writing is basically the only thing that truly and somewhat consistently brings me joy.
Having said that, I have written a whole (2.2k) fic a few days ago. You might wonder how this doesn't contradict what I said before. It's because it's a terrible first draft, and it resembles more an outline than a proper fic in more than one spot, which is what I meant when I said that “I'm full of things that want to be written but I can't turn them into words”—having ideas and outlining is easy, writing is impossible. And you might say that first drafts are supposed to be terrible, and it's true, but I really hate editing in English. I usually only write when words are flowing well enough that the first draft is pretty decent—I still need to edit it, but it's quick and mostly painless. Because when a draft is rough and ugly, editing it makes me want to cry. I can never get words to obey me, and having to change every sentence really discourages me, especially when I have no idea how to make them better. When everything feels shallow and dull and boring and ugh. Yeah. I truly hate it.
But anyway. I do have this fic that's finished, but it needs to be edited so much that the final work will probably be twice as long. But, as I said, editing is truly painful, so who knows when I'll find the strength to do it??? But that's enough complaining.
Enjoy some snippets of a new kid fic, because writing Snowbaz with child fills my heart with so much joy 🥰 Under the cut with the tags <3
Some Baz POV.
The man looks close to dropping the bag and running away, and I don't blame him. “Yes. I've got the right address and the right name. 31 cheeseburgers with no pickles.”
If this whole situation was weird before, it's veering into absurd now. I would never order a cheeseburger without pickles.
Some Simon.
If anyone asked me to describe what happiness looks like, it would be this. Coming home after work to find my husband and my son sitting at the kitchen table in front of a mountain of cheeseburgers.
And some more Simon.
Leo wins his fight against the wrapper and lifts the first cheeseburger.
“Besides, look at him. He's so hungry and cute.”
Baz snorts and tugs me to his side to hug me and press his cheek against my stomach. I run my fingers through his hair, bringing his already dying bun to its final demise.
“He is,” he says, and I can hear the smile in his voice. “Really your son.”
We stay silent as Leo takes a huge bite and grins at us with his mouth full.

Human Resources was always supposed to get a sequel. Nothing too long or involved ‒ probably just a couple K's of epilogue-ish material, to share some ideas about how Nandor and Guillermo's relationship might progress from "well yes, we have had sex once" onwards to, y'know, wherever that goes.
So naturally, when I actually sat down to write the thing, it grew into something several hundred words longer than the original story. Honestly, I'm not even that surprised when this sort of thing happens anymore, and yet...
Anyway, said sequel is still another round of edits and some proper betaing short of being ready to actually post, but given that 1) I have been promising this damn thing long enough, and 2) it is close enough to done that I've already created the parent series for it on AO3 and everything, have a couple of preview scenes:
“As you know,” Nandor begins, sitting straight-backed in his customary chair like a monarch in the midst of a royal pronouncement, “on account of how it was all caught on film because you documentary people are now just leaving cameras around to record things in empty rooms for some reason – I and my familiar Guillermo had an encounter of an… intimate nature last night. On this very couch! And a bit up against the wall before that – but you know all this, you have all the footage and all that.
“Now, I am told that when this sort of thing happens between two people who live in the same house, and who have not done that sort of thing before in one of your documentary programs, it can be the cause of quite a lot of ex-cite-ment. So I would like to make it officially very clear that there is nothing for the getting excited about in this case! Yes, it happened – and a very good time was had, especially by Guillermo, because of course I am very good in bed – but it was mostly just a one-time kind of thing. We had our fun and all, but you must understand that it does not change anything between me and Guillermo. He is still the familiar, and I am still the vampire, even though now I have touched him on the peepee.”
“Oh my god, this changes everything,” says Guillermo, grinning in a helpless sort of way, like he couldn’t stop if he tried. “A week ago, I never even knew he was interested, and now – oh man. I guess I’d never even really thought this was possible, let alone that he might…” Sitting on his bed in his room, Guillermo is trying very hard to keep his voice to stage-whisper levels, without much success. “I know, I know – it was ‘just’ the one time, but some of the stuff he said to me, while we were… just, damn. This is serious!”
“Yes, certain things may have been said in the heat of the moment,” Nandor pronounces, “but I think we are all grown-ups here, and we understand that they do not necessarily mean anything. Maybe it will happen again sometime, since Guillermo has made us all aware that sex with familiars is an option which is back on the table for us vampires now. But it is never a good idea to let a familiar get too ‘familiar’ with that sort of special treatment, because then they get ideas above their station, and they start thinking they are too goodto clean anything that is not attached to you, and then you have to eat them and start all over breaking in a new familiar, and it is just so much trouble! No-one wants that, least of all Guillermo! So it was fun and all, but you should not go thinking it will be the sort of thing that is going anywhere.”
“…and this could just go anywhere!” says Guillermo, “Like, it’s still so new – it’s not like he’s…” he gives a nervous laugh, “not like we’ve even talked about it yet, but I just…” He glances briefly at his phone, and nearly does a double take, “I just need to get some sleep – I’ve got like four hours of daylight left before he’s… I mean, before I’m on duty again. Okay.” Looking over the camera, he asks, “Can we wrap this up?”
A brief montage shows Guillermo turning off lights and turning in for the night – or for the afternoon, as the case may be.
Come sunset, though, he’s up and ready again as usual – if a little baggy-eyed, having obviously been too excited to get much sleep. He gives the camera a slightly-nervous smile at Nandor’s door.
“Haven’t been this excited to go in here since I started this job,” he tells the camera. “But I don’t really know where he’s… you know, what he’s thinking this is, yet, so I’m just gonna play it cool – go in there and… do my job.” Guillermo self-consciously straightens his shirt, and then finally reaches for the doorknob.
Inside, he dutifully checks the curtains, and then takes his place by the coffin as Nandor wakes.
“Guillermo?” Nandor calls, voice a little muffled as he opens his coffin from within, “are you there?” When his eyes fall on his waiting familiar, however, something happens to them – Nandor freezes, mouth slightly agape.
“Good evening, Master,” says Guillermo, largely oblivious as he holds out a hand to help his master out of his coffin. “What can I… hey!”
He cuts off as Nandor bats the proffered hand away and grabs him by the front of the shirt, lifting him bodily off the floor with supernatural strength. Before Guillermo has time for more than a startled yelp, he’s been dragged right into the coffin, on top of Nandor – the lid somehow, improbably, managing to slam shut over the both of them. That one, brief yelp remains Guillermo’s only objection – the noise he makes next suggests no objections to anything now happening inside.
After a moment, the coffin itself begins faintly rocking from side to side.
