what kind of conditioner do you use? I'm trying to grow my hair out and i miss bleaching/dying it colors but i know if the texture gets too crunchy it'll drive me nuts and i'll end up shaving it all off again
So I do things a bit differently after a fresh bleach.
I used this for 20 minutes post bleaching yesterday:
And that was after about three hours with Arctic Fox dyes sitting in it. My hair currently feels super soft but a bit dry.
For at least two months after a bleach I'll use some variety or other of intense moisture masque regularly. I generally like Palmer's Deep Conditioning mask but I just picked up some new stuff to try so I'll report back on those once I've tried them.
Day-to-Day in the shower I use Trader Joe's Shea Butter and Coconut Oil Hair Mask. Day-to-Day *after* a shower I use Cantu leave-in conditioning cream with shea butter and argan oil (any kind of argan oil, there's no brand in particular that I use).
I don't shampoo often, but when I do I use Love Beauty and Planet Mumuru Butter and Rose and I will sometimes use that conditioner as well.
If you're worried about your hair getting fried by bleaching you can also work on your bleaching process. You can get bleach with a bond repairing compound in it (Blonde Me is one brand that does this) or get a separate bond repairing serum (Olaplex is the one that everyone talks about but I think Sally Beauty has a house brand of bond repair product). You can also use a lower volume developer and a slower bleaching process to prevent damage. The photos I posted the other day are from about 45 minutes with a 20-volume developer instead of 20 minutes with a 30-volume developer and my hair feels much better than it normally does after bleaching (I have been using QuickBlue bleaching powder and it is *effective* and inexpensive, but bad for your hair - if you can afford something like Blonde Me or another system with bonding elements that will have less crunch than quickblue or prismalites or any of the cheaper brands out there).

Good morning! Brunch today was polenta, melted apples (with caramelized onion and wilted chard), cheesy scrambled eggs, bacon, and cinnamon cranberry bread (recipe below the cut). Technically the chard was supposed to be separate but I tossed them in with the other veg to save space and give them some more flavor- I also did the polenta like it is in the apples recipe, though I used half coconut cream and half water, and added nutritional yeast instead of cheese to keep it vegan.
Y'all get to see inside my messy three year old recipe book XD there's also some alterations I've started doing that aren't listed in the recipe, I'll put those at the end. Also that I've been making a vegan version this year!
Transcription:
Cinnamon Bread, makes one loaf, takes about an hour to an hour and a half.
2 cup flour
1 cup sugar
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp salt
1 cup buttermilk (1 tbs [apple cider] vinegar to [1 cup] milk)
1/4 cup veg oil
2 eggs
2 tsp vanilla
Crumb: 2 tbs sugar, 1 tsp cinnamon, 2 tsp butter
- oven to 350°
- mix dry in one bowl, wet in other, then combine
- pour into prepped pan, sprinkle and pat down crumb mix
- bake 50 min [or until toothpick comes out clean]
Now, my alterations! I've cut down the cinnamon to 1 tsp specifically so I could also add in 1/4 tsp each nutmeg and cardamom, and a sprinkle of allspice. I also like to sometimes mix in either chocolate chips or cranberries (this one was the latter).
To make it vegan, I switch out the buttermilk for vegan yogurt (or just oat milk if I don't have any on hand), and replace the eggs with ground flaxseed at a 1 egg to one tbs ratio, and add 3 tbs oat milk per egg (so, 2 tbs flax and 6 tbs milk)
I'm also... kinda lazy when it comes to the crumb. I've taken to just sprinkling brown sugar over the top and it comes out just fine lmao

Easy and delicious
Edible Cookie Dough Bars! 🍪
It's not recommended to eat cookie dough; the uncooked flour can make you very sick! This recipe is egg free and wheat flour free, so it's very safe to enjoy.
This is a very quick and easy edible cookie dough recipe I found on tiktok, that I've been enjoying all week! It tastes to me like a peanut butter cookie dough with chocolate chips, it's delicious
You can substitute any type of flour for almond flour if you need, like oat flour or even roasted wheat flour if it's all you have, but the ratio may change due to the fine-ness of the flour, and you will absolutely want to pre-cook the wheat flour before eating it. And if you can't have coconut oil, you can use butter like a regular cookie dough.
The recipe calls for vegan chocolate chips, but I used regular chocolate chips, and honey instead of maple syrup (of course lol). Mix everything together until smooth, then place in the fridge or freezer until firm and enjoy! I cut them into 16 pieces, and each piece (based on my recipe ingredients) is about 225 calories.
A very convenient sweet treat!

Star Trek Voyager inspired Banana Pancakes Recipe (Vegan, can be Gluten Free)
Hello, tumblr family. Below is a repost of an article originally posted on adorpheus.com, and is being shared here for archival purposes. Original post date: Circa 2012.
Fandom inspired recipes are the best. I've been watching Star Trek: Voyager all the way through and I really relate to B'Elanna Torres, namely in the way that she loves banana pancakes and so do I. Since I can't just ask Neelix to make me some (er, replicate some), To make pancakes super fluffy, try using seltzer water instead of milk or regular water!
B'Elanna Torres Banana Pancakes
Based on this recipe for waffles from VegWeb Gluten free, sugar free, vegan
2 cups rolled oats or quick oats (use gluten free oats to make it GF)
2 cups of water, seltzer water, or almond milk
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp salt
1 stevia packet or a few dashes uncut stevia
1 very ripe banana
a little oil or nonstick spray for greasing the pan/griddle
Method:
Combine all the ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. Preheat a griddle or cast iron or nonstick pan over medium heat. Spray with cooking spray or lightly grease with coconut oil if necessary.
Pour about 1/3 cup of batter onto the skillet to make one pancake. I use a ladle for this, but you can also eyeball it if you're skilled like that.
Once the top of the pancake has holes and is mostly matte instead of shiny, as seen in the photo above, its ready to be flipped. Use a spatula to flip it over. Repeat this for the rest of the batter. This recipe yields about 6 pancakes depending on how you make them. Once finished, garnish with additional bananas. B'Elanna's topping of choice was maple syrup, but I also like chocolate peanut butter on my pancakes:

Can I ask, what’s the deal with canola oil and what are substitutions for it since it’s used in like a ton of stuff??
https://www.westonaprice.org/health-topics/know-your-fats/the-great-con-ola/#gsc.tab=0
You just have to read labels. If you want to cut it out completely, then you're gonna have a hard time, but it is possible to buy products that use olive oil or avocado oil instead. I've been doing it for three years, and only eased up on the restriction within the last year (which isn't actually a good thing, but I'm not actively going blind anymore).
For cooking, use coconut oil, avocado oil (some brands aren't what they say they are, research!), olive oil, butter, ghee, lard, etc. Do not buy vegetable oil or canola oil.

Re: your post about dairy, can you share more about your diet? What do you eat on a day to day basis? I'm interested in learning about healthier eating
My diet probably consists of 80% animal products.
I don't use seed oils, maybe once a year for fried chicken but next time I want to use lard.
I don't eat soy, I don't add sugar to things I use honey instead (I do eat sweets though, but I don't like to add sugar to sauces, porridge, coffee, etc).
So this is typically what I'll eat in a day:
Breakfast: oatmeal made with ground oats, unsweetened cocoa powder, chia seeds, honey, peanut butter/coconut oil and fruit either an apple, banana or berries. Or eggs, bacon/ham, spinach and cheese. Sometimes I boil the eggs and eat the bacon raw and just some cheese on the side, and sometimes I fry them and cook the spinach too.
Lunch: I have been skipping lunch because I've been having a late breakfast, but usually I'll just snack on things like cheese, sausages, eggs, I've had times where I just ate some butter, yoghurts, protein shakes, etc.
Dinner: Usually my biggest meal. Ground beef with onion and garlic, some seasonings put that on top of a salad (mixed greens, apple/ cranberries, avocado, sometimes cucumber). Chicken I mostly have baked with vegetables like potatoes, carrots, onion and garlic. Steak with salad or brussel sprouts. Baked salmon with egg salad on the side. I don't like pork much so mostly I'll have a roast (shoulder with a fat layer to crisp up) and red cabbage with pears or apples on the side.
We rotate those meals a lot, rarely we'll have pasta, I love lasagna. Also burritos and sushi but we see those as treats, me and my husband prefer simple meals.
Then before sleep I'll have a snack like some chocolate, chocolate milk, sometimes I make chia seed pudding, a protein bar, some cake, whatever I want tbh.
I've struggled with a pretty bad ED in the past so what works for me is no restriction BUT portion control. I'll have whatever makes me feel best and it just happens to be a more high fat diet, I also love carbs though but sometimes they make me tired which is why I'll save my snacks for bed time.
#I have beef like 3 times a week for the iron though#I also take a prenatal#Vit d#Magnesium#Fish oil#And I'll be adding vit k for vit d absorption

Issue 31, containing: Easy Ways to Explode One's Kitchen, A Lip Pomatum (for the At-Home Apothecary), &c.
------------------------------
SOME EDITORIAL NOTES
Another issue? So soon? YES I AM ALSO SURPRISED.
------------------------------
EASY WAYS TO EXPLODE ONE'S KITCHEN
Gentle readers may recall the start of my apothecarical interest was, to an extent, the joy of Syllabubs (in too many issues to list here)--but when I first started wandering into the world of household goods, my gateway drug was a simple recipe in Nicolas Lémery's Arcana Curiosa: Or Modern Curiosities of Art and Nature.
I have hinted at what that process was like, but have only ever written it up elsewhere--let me share it here now, the first write-up I made in May of 2022.
Fig. 1. A second copy of a recipe originally printed in Issue 29, on the topic of Poisonings and the avoidance thereof. I am in violent love with the use of " 'em" in 1711.
The text reads:
"A Pomatum for the Lips. Take Four Ounces fresh Butter, and an Ounce of Virgin's Wax, melt 'em together, and when you have boil'd a Quarter of an Hour, strain and take your Pomatum from the FIre; then take Two Spoonfuls of Orange-flower-water, with which boil again and again; then thicken with a little Orcanet, which you have diluted with some Orange-flower-water, and beat up your Pomatum with a Spoon, taking it from the Fire and setting it to cool."
In my first experiment with this pomatum, I changed the butter for coconut oil, because of who I am as a person. I also used a cleaned yellow beeswax (note: in the recent past I tried a rendered white wax and it looked unfortunately like an unappealing paraffin when complete, and so I would not recommend it).
Fig. 2. Behold, the bad beginnings of my very tiny lightbox for overly arty photography.
I forgot to boil everything, but I did leave it on the range for about thirteen minutes or so before bothering it with the next instruction or ingredient--the wax and oil melted very quickly (surprise surprise), but it did smoke a bit further into the process, so I wonder if anything got burnt off. (Something something burning points something? Perhaps.)
What with the 21st-century purity of the stuff being used, there was no reason to strain anything, so I skipped that step--which, put a bookmark on that, because it may have caused me to move on to the next step slightly too fast.
Orange-flower water I had in abundance--
Fig. 3. And the brand I recommend is Cortas.
–and I prepared a soup spoon (since that seemed closest to whatever “spoonful” might be in these contexts). However, upon dropping in the spoonful, I very quickly discovered that without a moment or three for everything to cool down, what happens is that the entire mix explodes in an astonishing fountain of aerosolized wax.
Behold, the aftermath on a stove-top:
Fig. 4. I've heard of cleaning with elbow grease, but this is just unreasonable.
I prudently removed the mixture from the flame at that point. I less than prudently tried putting in the second spoonful, because obviously I only had the theory that that was a bad idea, and as we all know science requires that results be reproducible.
Even with my small sample size, I afterward felt confident in my conclusion that one should wait until the mixture has cooled somewhat--and possibly been strained, just to add more air--before adding the flower water.
After the various explosions, I did try to “boil and boil again,” but it didn’t seem to do much. I instead just stirred it every once in a while while I was mixing up the next bit of the recipe.
As I mentioned previously, I do not enjoy the concept of casually giving others liver damage, so for this first batch I ended up switching the alkanet with arrowroot powder and cosmetic-grade colored mica. The mica did give a nice color, but the arrowroot creates a...fascinating goo that must be discarded, and the majority of the mica gathers within it.
Fig. 5. A lovely photograph of mostly discarded ideas.
To be honest, though, I’m not sure how much the arrowroot actually thickened anything, and I’m really not sure the mica added any color. I think I’m going to need to try something more robust in future if I want to replicate the alkanet effect.
As I mixed that all together with a little more orange-flower water, I took the wax mix off the stove and set it to cool. Feeling that I had Learned My Lesson somewhat, I also hauled some ice packs out of the freezer and set it up around the saucepan to cool it faster (because “patience” is something that happens to other people).
I was, after a minute or so, able to put tiny drops of the mica mix into the wax-and-oil. They spat and rang a bit, so if that sort of alchemy excites you, hooray. That being said, I should have probably let it cool even further--so let us say, if you put anything into the superheated wax and oil, add first a tiny drop, and check to see if it sinks and solidifies a bit like an egg yolk in its shell--that seems to be a good level of warmth/chill to do the next bit.
The instructions say to “beat [it] with a Spoon”--I found, however, that a tiny whisk was infinitely preferable. As soon as the mica was thoroughly mixed into the wax (which took a couple of minutes, longer than I would have assumed), I then hauled out some lip balm sampler containers, spooned some of the finished pomatum into them, and threw them in the freezer because, again, I am Patience Personified.
The finished product was, to be frank, kind of lovely to look at:
Fig. 6. Something far prettier than it has any right to be.
I took the opportunity to scoop up some of the warm pomatum and apply it on some of my dry skin--it soaked in very easily, though left my hands a little greasy. As a lip balm, though, it was and is excellent. When cooled, it’s definitely a more solid kind of balm, but it still melts excellently and not too fast:
Fig. 7. There is no square millimeter of dry skin upon my person that I have not put this mix on at one point or another over the last two years.
…But here’s the thing.
When I first tried this pomatum, I was deeply surprised to learn how little the “old auntie’s potpourri” smell remained from the undiluted orange-flower water. Instead there was a certain…depth. Similar to the more woodsy/herbal scents that I also happen to favor, like sandalwood and such. But also a sweetness? My lips didn’t taste of anything I could readily discern, but I was very happy to have the scent of the pomatum wafting upward.
I then left my apartment for about an hour; enough time for my sense of smell to return to neutral, so that I could return and get a fresh impression of what cooking this stuff--or, let us say, using it regularly--would make the environs smell like. I was fully expecting something smoky and unpleasant that I just hadn’t clocked when I was still in the apartment.
And gentle reader: It. Smelled. Like. Cookies.
Fig. 8. Look at them. These tiny little perfect cookie spheres based on a recipe from over three centuries ago. That I have the power to create whenever I want.
------------------------------
A LIP POMATUM (FOR THE AT-HOME APOTHECARY)
Now, in 2024, after two years of experimentation and study, I have a proper recipe that you, gentle readers, can also follow.
4 ounces (1/2 cup) oil, coconut or sweet almond
1 ounce clean yellow beeswax
2 teaspoons arrowroot powder
2+ tablespoons room temperature orange-flower water
Set your cooktop to 130℉ (a low simmer). Fill a small pan with a scant 1-inch of water and set it to heat. Put oil and wax into a silicone melt pot and put in water to create an ad hoc bain-marie. Melt for 15 minutes or until completely incorporated together. Take off heat, whisk to aerate and cool enough to add orange-flower water. (TEST TO AVOID EXPLOSION.) Heat again for 5 minutes; while heating, make a paste of more orange-flower water and arrowroot powder in a small cup. Take off heat, add arrowroot paste, and whisk together for several minutes until completely mixed. Pour into containers; there may be an ARROWROOT GOO that sinks to the bottom of the melt pot. Try and avoid pouring it into the containers, but if it does, it can be spooned out again (though it will not have as nice a top to it). Makes about 20 5g containers--but probably more.
Fig. 9. BE ADVISED: ALL TOOLS USED WILL BE SACRIFICED TO THE BEESWAX GOD.

A reminder--the Historically Inaccurate Goods Patreon tier for this month, and until June 30, is a choice between:
A pomatum for the lips (in either sweet almond or coconut oil varieties--the very one discussed in this week's issue);

9:00am
feeling full so i might just not eat till dinner/tomorrow 👍 my dad questioned me on why i don't want breakfast though ermm
anyway! my uncles finally replied so i might just be doing the ≈12k step walk . 1 issue, my nans off to hospital tomorrow so we're all visiting her, but the times might run over
just sat on my arse currently, watching memeulous. fun
12:14am(?)
just broke my "fast", it was only meant to be till 1am but my greedy arse broke it at 12 with 3 peanut M&M's... the fast was what, 18.5 hours? people who skip breakfast and have early dinners do that daily, thats nothing. fuck that
anyway, am watching hollyoaks, dave is in a beyond fucked situation
6:42pm
just ate chinese, i feel both full and guilty 👍 though i felt faint at one point earlier so at least im eating,, but still. the food was lush but i didn't get to enjoy it cos i was so worried about the cals since the foodsplace doesn't say em, then, the cals seemed low for takeaway so i added some oil to my tracker
anyway, no walk today as there was a storm, we'll do it tomorrow, and i visited my nan. familys so important for me so i'm glad i could make it. i watched a bit of lorax since that was on TV, apparently it's ≈11 years old now? yikes
still... no exercise is terrible ffs. glad i'll have the home to myself most daytime so i can do as much exercise as i need!
now i'm in bed chewing gum, i should exercise but my mind keeps telling me no because i just ate and the springs in my bed are both noisy and painful to my hands and back. when family's home i can only exercise on my bed. anyway, i don't think i'm gonna eat anymore today, i really shouldn't, so here's the log
although i didn't set any goals today, i did go way under my cals! (limit 650, capped at 715) i partly think it's bc i didn't have a strict number and rather just the thought to "keep it low", but skipping breakfast helped times ten for sure, i think i might do that every day this week holiday + then every other day each week - excluding exams, since i need the food then.
oh! some good news, all my so...? spray just arrived, and i just opened my sylvanian family toy from earlier in the week, so i'll show my fave perfume-body mist combo and my cute sylvanian x
look at her arms bro, shes so funny so i love her
for some reason the quality's dodge, my bad! i actually think its the shitty lighting but nevermind.
anyway
SO...? Pink Grapefruit body mist and Calvin Klein (ck) IN2U match so nicely, i found this out accidentally when using my (then) new favourite grapefruit spray with mum's perfume. i knew my juicy couture daily perfume didn't match the grapefruit spray so i'd be wasting the JC if i used it. so after a few days of stealing mum's i realised IN2U matched so nicely! i continued to use it and continued to notice it matching well, few days on i decide to search the scent profile, and it has grapefruit in it! thats why they paired well. so since, thats one of my go to combos.
also, if i ever want to smell pure edible, i use coconut body butter, vanilla oil on my blazer collar, either vanilla or coconut body mist, and a perfume with vanilla. makes me wanna bite into myself but also makes me soo sweaty legged if i apply too much butter, i need to use some sort of applicator i'm just lazy 😅 might just buy a coconut body milk instead and skip the hassle of the oily layer left with body butter
11:54pm
i've been scrolling online forums and making character diets for a few hours now. gonna sleep

I spent part of my night starting my piece for a writing contest I found on instagram.
First prize is $250. I'm centering it around autistic pride. Possibly trans pride too. The max amount of words I can use is 1500 and I'm only about 240 into it so far. (The prompt is to write a letter to your teenage self.)
I will add more when I have it in me to focus again. It's not due until August 1st. I hope I carve out more time to write soon.
It's been good for me.
Now I don't know how to pass the time. I'm waiting for a cup of tulsi to finish seeping.
I can talk to people who are awake, contribute to Reddit threads, and find good instructions on how to prep the chicken drumsticks that I hope haven't spoiled. I have no olive oil left, so hopefully coconut oil will work in its place. Otherwise, maybe melted butter?
I should also look into the chamomile/hibiscus lemonade I want to make before my lemons rot.
When I feel up to standing, I need to do dishes. I don't want maintenance to think I am a slob when they come to fix the air. I will worry about the cookies I've been pining to make another day. As long as I make them before my eggs go bad, it's fine.
The pain clinic wants to see me on the 7th. They won't fill anything until they meet with me again. Hopefully Grandpa will agree to take me because the friend that was going to take me on the 10th isn't available that day. Since the 10th is now free for us both, we will go hiking that morning instead! I will try to take some pictures.
Another thing I can do soon is look into the research studies I saw advertised. I took screenshots of the basic information.

So I've been trying to kind of reconnect to my family's heritage through food as an adult, so one of my go-tos has become Filipino style adobo. Preferably made with pork belly (chunked up) but it's hard to find pork belly that's not thinly sliced around here, so I tend to use chicken breast. Chop it into bite sized pieced or so, and then it gets cooked in an equal mix of vinegar (apple cider or white) and soy sauce, with lots of black pepper, bay leaves, and garlic. Optional minced ginger and/or coconut milk. And then you can cook it in a crock pot on low for like 6 ish hours, on high for like 4, or in a pot on the stove for, I don't know, an hour or two? You mostly want the meat to be tender and flavorful. And then serve it with white rice, usually as more of a soup.
I can also try to remember to grab the recipes for pineapple chicken (also a stew that's served with white rice) or maybe the really good garlic pork chops (off the top of my head, I think they're marinated in apple cider vinegar and lots of whole garlic cloves and then they and the garlic are fried over medium high to high heat so they get kinda crispy, and you use thinner pork chops for it so they have a chance to get crispy and it's just a delicious, garlicky dish, and you'd serve that with rice and a vegetable).
Wait, okay, I do have a couple others that are sinpler, tasty dishes.
"Happy Chicken/Shrimp", I can't remember where I found the recipe, but it was originally shrimp and I've also made it with chicken, you add the protein to the pan with a bit of lemon juice and white wine/cooking wine, cook down the white wine a bit, then add heavy cream and simmer until it's reduced by about half. Seasonings for that are italian seasonings and garlic, sometimes I also add red pepper flakes. Essentially scampi, but creamy.
Curried coconut shrimp/chicken: Another recipe that started out with shrimp that I then tried with chicken. Add several tablespoons of butter to a pan and melt it. Add enough curry powder to turn that into a paste and then let it cook for a bit to release the good curry flavors. Add the protein and stir to coat in the paste. Add a can of coconut milk, and cook until it's thickened and the protein is fully cooked. More soup like consistency, served over rice.
Mushroom masala is also stupidly easy to make. Add mushrooms to a pan with a fat (oil or butter), cook them down a bit, add marsala wine and let some of the alcohol cook out, add heavy cream (about as much as the marsala), simmer until it coats a spoon. Option substitution sherry for the marsala makes a really good sherry version. Serve over pasta or rice. Can also add chicken.
This Palestinian recipe:
https://palestineinadish.com/recipes/pea-stew-hearty-warm-comfort-dish-you-will-love/
It was really delicious. My fiancée doesn't really care for carrots, so we did the optional potatoes instead of carrots. The "warm comfort dish" claim is very true, the blend of spices is nice and warm and comforting, and we both loved it. And unlike my other suggestions, this one actually has vegetables included in the recipe!
hallo. in the spirit of my sandwich post of yore i am asking you: what is your favorite and-or most reliable dinner to make and eat? this month i would like to learn at least one new recipe
bonus points awarded for good leftovers
if it's a depression meal that's understandable but not very helpful for my selfish dream of not eating depression meals
bonus points also awarded for a vegetable such as the noble brogoly 🥦
#long post#im sorry im just very enthusiastic about food#i learned how to cook pretty young but it always used to be something my dad and i would do together#especially looking up multiple recipes for something#and then still just improvising and cobbling it together from a bunch of different sources#oh if you want a good summer steak marinade: lemon juice olive oil italian herbs and lots of garlic#super simple but it's a nice light marinade#this is why i say im a foodie though#it's definitely a love language for me and i love sharing food and recipes and cooking together and for people and just#it's something im passionate about#and i have a million other recipes i want to share but this addition already got super long#also sorry if this and the reply both post but from my end it looked like tumblr ate my reply??#so im reblogging with my additions instead#fingers crossed this posts though because i don't wanna have to retype this one

Hi, so this is going to be a weird ask, but I noticed you said you make your own deodorant and I've been wanting to make my own for a while now to help the environment, but I don't know how? Just wondering if you could please share the deodorant mix recipe thing with me please?
Hope you have a great day lovely!
hii
noo this is not weird at all!! in fact i got really happy when i read this. ive been wanting to do my own for a long time as well and now it has been a year and 3 months hehe.
i searched deep down in my gallery but i guess i deleted the ss of the recipe, dunno why
so i will write from memory, it is pretty easy to remember since the ingredients are so little. i need to make some more as well i ran out of it lol
important note:
i must tell you that this is what works for me and it certainly might not work for everyone. i searched some various blogs and youtube channels before i decided on this. i wanted something effective and simple so i decided to try this. if it wont work out please dont give up and try different recipes.
i use;
about 3 table spoons of coconut oil
about 1 ts of corn starch
a couple drops of lavender oil
if the amount of coconut oil or the corn starch seems little or not quite suitable for each other, feel free to add more or less of them. thats what i do, it all works out by rule of thumb :D
in some recipes ppl use shea butter as well and it is generally put a bit less than coconut oil like 2 ts or something, for this one for example. and i adapted the recipe a bit to make it more accessible and suitable for myself. i read that shea butter was not an important necessity so i didnt use it. i use corn starch instead of baking soda. i read that some ppl used to get irritated skin bc of baking soda so if u have sensitive skin thats a warnin to consider. i didnt want to risk it myself im a little sensitive.
you can use different types of oils, mix them as well, it all depends on personal choice.
the corn strach absorbs the sweat, thats what it is for and the coconut oil is for the bacteria and stuff, so that it wont get to smell.
i keep the coconut oil in the refrigerator and wait a little for it to soften before i start. a little soft works for me to use the spoon easily.
some people heat it up a little to make it liquid while mixin but i am a bit lazy for that so i put it all in my deodorant jar and wait a little more for it to get softer so i can mix it like a paste. coconut oil melts easily anyway.
i generally restore it in the refrigerator in summer (talkin abt the deodorant here) (i always restore my coconut oil in the refrigerator but it is a personal choice not something scientific lol) and i take it out and wait a bit before using it bc i put it on with my fingers so i want it more like a paste again hehe. in winter i dont really feel the need so i keep it in my room or the bathroom. it depends on the tempeture and the city/country you live in.
the amount you put on your body also depends. if you put too little it might not work as good so u can try it at home first times using it. try to do some chores or exercise to test it out too maybe. thats what i did and i got used to it pretty easily.
- another warning:
since it is oil it might mark your clothes sometimes. be careful with that. i put it on and wander around shirtless a bit lmao so that my skin absorbs the oil a little as i get my other stuff ready. but keep in mind that it is oil so it will not dissappear or dry like water easily as you wait. it stays for a while even when i put on clothes and go out but i dont find it that annoying.
and
another environmentally friendly thing i do and would advice is to use shampoo bars!
(and if you are already using them or planning on using, thats so awesome!!!)
incredibly easy and also very budget friendly as well as the environment. and you get to use waaay less plastic.
i buy mine from Rossmann. the brand is Isana and in my city it has 2 types, dont know if it has more, one is pomegrande and the other is mango&coconut. they smell AMAZING. they are vegan and do not consist micro plastic.
ive been using them for a year now as well.
if u plan on using them be carefull with the water bc they can get pretty sticky and soft, hard to use if they sit in water or stay wet. i use a soapbox and it works just fine. (keep the box closed and let no water sit in as you shower too) and keep the soapbox open after you are out of the shower and done using it to let it dry.
ofc there are tons of different brands and types so you can search and decide on your own for whats best for you and your hair! <3
hope this helps honey!! and i hope this wasnt too long or the explanation was too unnecesary. feel free to ask me if you got any questions abt anything. will try to answer as much as i can, if i know abt the topic.
and thank you, i wish you an awesome day!!

I've loved to bake for as long as I can remember but recently all my cookies have been turning out more like mini muffins and I was so stressed out over it but I finally figured out why and I've never been so relieved!!! just felt like sharing some of my happy vibes 😊
NICE!!!!!!! the relief of realizing why something keeps going wrong in a recipe is so good....I remember once being really frustrated that every time I made a cake recently it would stick to the pan horribly no matter how much butter or cooking spray I put on the pan and then I realized that using coconut oil instead of peanut oil was what was making it horribly sticky and I felt SO RELIEVED haha

I made cake! 🍰
This is the third cake I've made since I started a few weeks ago. The first two were spice cakes, this one is lemon. It's delicious. I'm doing that thing where I used a box mix but replace milk instead of water, butter instead of oil, and an extra egg.
I also made cookies, but I don't get to eat those. They're medicinal for my wife's breastmilk supply. Those I make as directed by I added more (dark) chocolate chips and used coconut for the oil.
I'm not frosting these cakes. I've never been a fan of frosting, I've just accepted that other people insist on it. But I don't have to care about that with these. I could learn frosting at some point. Maybe I'll find a frosting I love. Regardless.
Oh, and it's so cheap! Just a few bucks for a mix, then the milk, eggs, and butter are all inexpensive staples. The cakes have each lasted about a week, mostly just me eating them, plus some served (mixed with applesauce) to our infant. There's really no reason I can't have cake on hand all the time, and that's wonderful.

I've never liked coconut oil in my coffee (or BPC) but lately I've been using this almost daily in my morning coffee & LOVE it.
It's liquid MCT Oil, a Premium C8 & C10 blend, all natural, perfectly portioned & portable, by the same company that makes the nut butter packs I love so much. ❤
I started using it in my morning coffee when I got sick last month and had NO appetite, and also had IBS and other miserable things going on.
The first thing I noticed is that it totally satisfied me, and held me over until lunch.
But more importantly - my aching gut and reflux etc immediately settled down. It had an INSTANT soothing effect!
I had no idea why or how it worked, but it got me through a pretty rough spell. It also doesn't taste or "feel" like regular coconut oil or BPC - it's super smooth, almost creamy instead of oily (that's the best way I know to describe it).
✔ Tip: Make any fatty coffee in a shaker bottle. That makes it easy to keep it blended & frothy all the way to the end. 😉
Anyway, I was reading up on C8 & C10 and it turns out just some of the benefits include: reduces gut / intestinal inflammation, aids in smoother digestion, fights infection (powerful antibacterial) - also kills yeast, fungi & Candida that can cause miserable digestive issues.
That explains why it had an instant soothing effect. I could literally feel a difference within minutes - reflux settled, then stopped, gut relaxed - it kept me out of gut wrenching misery for hours actually.
I read that C8 almost *instantly* turns into ketones when ingested - so it DOES work fast, and it's also great for quick stable energy. You'll also notice a "mental clarity" effect within a few minutes after you drink it...
No wonder it worked so fast and so well! I thought for sure that was all in my head. 🤣 I mean, how could something so simple give me instant relief?!
📲 I have a 20% off discount coded into my affiliate link if you want to check out their oils, nut butters & snacks: https://www.dropanfbomb.com/discount/LOWCARBTRAVELER 💕
It's great for fasting too because it gives you both energy and a satiated feeling with nothing to spike your blood glucose levels.
I love it for skipping breakfast (which is the most INconvenient meal of the day for me usually) or for having something on hand if I need or want to skip a meal.
It was especially helpful when I couldn't eat, but super convenient and beneficial for so many other reasons too. The more I learn, the more I'm glad I love it so much!
This is the ONLY oil I've ever enjoyed in my coffee. It has no flavor and leaves no weird feel in your mouth - so you can literally add it to anything (tea, broth, soup, etc).
I probably never would have tried it given I don't do BPC etc, but I got desperate when I felt so sick - honestly just looking for something to "get by on" because I was getting wimpy :P and was surprised and impressed at how different I felt within the first few sips!
It's like the opposite of a shot of vodka - a "morning feel-good shot" :D lol...
It's a great way to get your healthy fats in too of course. They make avocado oil and other oils you can keep in your bag or car for a salad dressing on the go, and of course all the portable nut butter packets I love so much too. ;-)
I'm still using it and still loving it. FBOMB (aka Love You Foods) makes good clean all natural products you can trust AND enjoy - that are perfectly portioned & portable for a busy keto lifestyle.
See: https://www.dropanfbomb.com/discount/LOWCARBTRAVELER (our 20% off discount link)
Sorry for writing a book about it. 🤣 I'm pretty impressed with the results I've experienced, but didn't know why until I read up on it today! 💕

Nocturne Alchemy Valentine Mini-Reviews
Originally published 3/8/2019
Hey, y'all. I know it's cutting it close to when this collection goes down, so I want to make sure these reviews go up today. They've extended the deadline until Monday, so if something sounds appealing to you, there's still a little time!
I recently did a little swap for Candied Egyptian Musk, and my swap mate kindly sent along a few decants from the current update for me to try out as well. And as an extra, I've got my bottle of Vanilla Wedding Cake that I haven't yet reviewed. I got my swap on Monday, and they definitely needed a little rest, so I wanted to give them enough time to recover to be able to properly review them.
So let's jump right to the full bottle, from the Candied line. I was really interested in these, they honestly all sounded very appealing, but I was most interested in the two musks, Candied Crimson, and Candied Egyptian Musk. And I was having a difficult time narrowing it down, so this little swap took the indecision away for me! Big thanks to Hannah! When I first got them, I am just like everyone else, I cannot resist for the life of me opening them straight away and sniffing. Okay, let me be totally honest, even swiping a bit on for quick testing. I could smell in the bottle that Candied Egyptian Musk was gorgeous, really appealing, but when I went to test it, it was pretty travel shocked. Here's a perfect example of why we shouldn't toss these into the nope pile the day you get them, because on my skin, it turned pretty powdery, and I couldn't get a handle on it - smelled nothing like the bottle. Luckily, I've learned not to give up on these out of hand, because even on day two it was powdery. I set it aside, and tried to be patient. Wednesday night though I put on my sweater that I wear when it's chilly, and caught a whiff of something pretty glorious on the cuff of my sleeve. I realized it was Candied Egyptian Musk, and I was SO glad to get an idea of what it would properly smell like with rest! Eeee! (SO. MANY. EXCLAMATION. POINTS. Sorry, y'all. I'll try to restrain myself.) Ahahaha, moving on. Here's the Candied base notes: Victorian-style Sugar-Candied perfumes infused with Lime Zest, aged Orange slices, Raspberry Essence, Pear Essence, Sugar Accord, Lemon Zest, Vanilla Extract, Pink Sugar, Bourbon Vanille Absolute, Crystalline Absolute and Vanilla Bean. Using Absolute versions from the Studio Limited Originals. Candied Egyptian Musk: Candied Accord with Egyptian Musk Absolute. So in the bottle, I get a big waft of citrus - yum! I love their citrus notes. Very realistic. A little sugary note floats along with it, and at the base, their Egyptian Musk. Wet on my skin, the fruits are accented by a touch of vanilla and sugar, I'm definitely getting sugar rimmed fruit, with a little creaminess. The Egyptian Musk comes out to play a few minutes in. I love the Studio Limited scent, it's a soft, beautiful, clean, tranquil musk that floats fairly close to the skin, but obvious enough that I get a lot of compliments from people when I'm wearing it. Here, it's really beautifully paired with the candied fruit. I am loving where this is heading! Once this is fully settled into my skin, this isn't a strong scent. It lasts a long time for me, I definitely get a full day's wear from it, but it stays about as close to the skin as the SL does - which is soft, for sure, but it leaves a sort of trailing scent, not as personal of a skin scent as for instance Bastet Amber. The fruits are pretty melded with the sugar and vanillas, I don't get a clear reading on what the fruits are now, but they're a lovely, obviously juicy mix of fruit, sweetened with sugar and "cream". I wasn't sure how these would all play together with the accenting notes, but the Candied accord is a lovely accent to Egyptian Musk, neither overwhelms the other. Instead, they give you a really beautiful, different tone to a familiar scent. I can see this being something I reach for quite a bit in the warmer half of the year.
Candied Crimson: Victorian-style Sugar-Candied perfumes infused with Lime Zest, aged Orange slices, Raspberry Essence, Pear Essence, Sugar Accord, Lemon Zest, Vanilla Extract, Pink Sugar, Bourbon Vanille Absolute, Crystalline Absolute and Vanilla Bean. Using Absolute versions from the Studio Limited Originals. Candied Accord with Crimson Egyptian Musk Absolute. I probably love Crimson as much as I love Egyptian Musk. It's somewhat stronger than its sister, but not as forward as Kashmir, their other red musk. Crimson is a red musk, and the oil is tinted a pale, almost watery red. I finally picked up a bottle last January after realizing I absolutely loved it in blends, and I would probably really enjoy having the single accord on hand - and I do. Musks are something NA does very well, and this one is no exception. If you're looking for something a little less sexy and forward, say, than Kashmir, possibly more appropriate for day wear, I would recommend it. Again, this is lovely paired with the Candied accord! I get a burst of citrus when I open the vial, and Crimson following quickly behind. As with Candied Egyptian Musk, Candied Crimson opens on the skin with the fruits - I should mention that you get a real meld of fruits on the skin, not just the citrus. It's almost like a fruit bowl, if that makes sense, with a little sugar and cream. The Crimson pairs really well right away with this. If you've ever tried Green Tea Crismson, it's a little like that, if you added Sugarcube - but obviously more fruity/creamy, with no tea. Crimson adds a bright, smooth, clean, almost softly purring musk with the candied fruit. With long drydown, the two aspects complement each other, neither one overpowering the other. This lasted a good full day on me as well.
These two are both so good, I kind of wish I'd been able to try all of them!
Teak & Sandalwood: Indonesian Teak Absolute, Santalum Absolute, Australian Sandalwood, Spices of Pink Pepper and Nutmeg, Ember Vanilla Cream, Butter accord, Caramel Accord, French Vanilla Bean Absolute, Vanilla Milk accord, Vanilla Orchid, Crystalline Absolute and Vanilla Sugar. Okay, this was the other sample that came along with my swap. I absolutely love the Bastet's Ice Cream accord, but these are a little different from previous incarnations - they're wood, spices, and cream. I was really curious what these would be like. I tried this on my skin, and found it to read pretty masculine. I love pepper, as well as teak and sandalwood, and I can usually pull off scents that run in the middle. I know it's just my skin, but on me, though, I tried it and it read pretty strongly towards the other way, so I decided to try this on my fiance, Jody. And oh, wow - it's absolutely mesmerizing. At first, it's a little sweet on him, which made him nervous. I'm not sure if y'all have read some of my early entries, but Jody is pretty firmly in the "I hate vanilla" camp, which is really, really rare. He does love the more resinous ones, like Ember Vanilla or OP Pakhet, though, so I made him wait a bit before darting to wash his wrists. Hah! It settled very quickly on him, and it's dead on intoxicating. The teak and sandalwood blend so beautifully with the peppers and ice cream accord, the strong wood balances with the sweetness to just envelope the senses. It's really sexy. I mean, I drool now every time he's put it on - we had errands to run both yesterday and today and I could smell him all day long. It kept my attention. The pepper adds a great little kick in the background, too.
Vanilla Wedding Cake: Vanilla White Cake accord, Sweet Almond Elixir, Sugar Cream, Bastet’s Ice Cream Absolute and Crystalline Absolute. I usually don't go for more foodie scents, but Bastet has really started to draw me in, just as she's done with florals. This is no exception! And it pairs well with so, so many scents. I got this last year, so mine's had plenty of time to age. This one is pretty straight forward for me, but oh, is it good. The white cake is just...yummy. Smells just like a rich, moist white cake, not too dense, not too dry. I don't get a lot of the almond on my skin, and there's a lovely, white, slightly buttery frosting. Creamy. The almond is an accent, and it's perfect here. It's actually kind of uncanny how well this is created as a perfume, it's absolutely perfectly balanced, and I can describe it as I would actually eating a slice of wedding cake. I get a long wear time from this - it will go on for a good ten hours. It's not as powerful as my well-beloved resins, but I would give this a medium throw. I wanted to see how a little more almond would smell, so I paired this with Speckle Bunny, and I am here to tell you it was a pretty amazing layering combination. I've also done it with Egyptian Peach Blossom, Coconut Milk, Pteranodon (because I have to try layering that with everything, goodness) and even Camarasaurus, which I have to say is so, so gorgeous. Honestly, I don't think, if you wanted to try it with other scents, there's much it wouldn't go with - I did it with a coffee scent, and with White Tea Vanilla - it's just extremely versatile.
I just remembered I have a partial of Bastet's Ice Cream: Tibetan Crystalline. Santalum Absolute, Crystalline Absolute, Nag Champa Accord (Halmardi Resin, Incense, Sandalwood, Patchouli, Plumeria essence), Vanilla Crystalline Cream, Butter accord, Caramel Accord, French Vanilla Bean Absolute, Vanilla Milk accord, Vanilla Orchid, Japanese Vanille Incense accord, Crystalline Absolute and Vanilla Sugar *different NG accord for this blend than the Studio Limited Original. I don't have enough room on my skin right now to give this a proper testing and evaluation for a full review, but very quickly, this is definitely different than the SL Tibetan Crystalline. It's gorgeous, and really eye-rolling good. The creaminess of the ice cream accord is just so smooth with the nag champa! I haven't done a side by side yet, but I might even love this more than the SL. Intoxicating. I will try to come back to this tomorrow morning, if I have time, to do a more solid side by side and full description.
