Selena has grown quite a bit. I wrote her About page so many years ago that I worry that it could be outdated or maybe just outgrew it? Like, she can be cold but also compassionate. Selena does care but tries to figure out how to express it whether its terribly wrapped gifts or a listening ear. She feels more human who can learn and grow. [I’m proud of her ;v;] 

She’s also open to using her real name now in her Kingdom Hearts-centric verses. That’s pretty big.

Back when I first started writing her on tumblr, I did have an idea of how her main verse backstory went: her world disappeared long before KH1 along with the other bunch of world that did too, wandered around as a child for too many years, and then come back, as a young adult, after it returns to prevent it from happening again. That was it. LMAO 

Here, I got to flesh out the in-betweens [Snake’s Den, etc.] , attempt to figure out world building [Deliora, the windmill, the Skeleton in the Closet didn’t exist at all back then.], and have her grow through various relationships between other muses I would have never interacted with and NPCs I would have never created had I not brought her to tumblr.  

The Heartsickness keyblade design is probably the only thing that had remained consistent.

I would have not thought of her alternate universes either. Back then, I don’t believe I would have been as open to them as I am now because I was so far down that Kingdom Hearts rabbit hole. That much I can admit embarrassingly enough. They’re an absolute blast.

Eblis and Sonnelion’s designs were much different. Eblis originally had more skin to show and now I’m just...Put some clothes and armor on pls. The design just wasn’t appropriate, especially after the backstory changes, and I’m glad that I made that change. Sonnelion used to be named Pheynix too.

There is one big change that maybe only a few who knew me from before tumblr, and it’s absolutely silly. Selena used to have wings and now she doesn’t. That’s it and I’m glad that I made that change. I used to joke that Darkness gives people wings like that dumb Red Bull commercial.

Last year this day we woke up together I did yoga and then we made oatmeal and sat on the balcony making lovey dovey footsy TikToks to the song "I will never ever find another lover sweeter than you, sweeter than you" and it's over. I can't believe it. I didnt know love could be so tender and special and sacred and so harsh. But it is. Is romantic love worth it? I've always said no since my first relationship. But it feels like it was worth it. Liar he may be, abusive he may be, he was also the best boyfriend and lover of my life. I'm crying as I walk to the grocery store. It's kinda far. My parents is smelly compared to his place. It is disgusting. And he told me my hands are disgusting. God let them heal. Make my hands heal so I can do some helpful work around the house. God knows my parents need me. But God knows I wanted to experience my boyfriend so badly and I did and it is never over. Not for my heart. My heart is an ocean and I carry you with me forever and eternal longing brings me my memories of our meeting. I'm washing clothes. I think there's something wrong with the sink there are dirty dishes piled high up and also in the backyard. The bathroom smells bad because my family is aging and terrible and slow at doing things. My boyfriend thinks I was slow at doing things, my family takes ages. I think part of it is because I haven't taken my hypothyroidism medication in a long time because I don't want them to take my blood again.As soon as my aunt saw me yesterday she asked , "r u injured?" Talking about my hands. Yes they ache and peel and bleed. It's a rare skin disease combined with OCD and scab picking. Why do I always get the rare problems? It's before 9 am. My good time~ the time of day I don't have anxiety. The air is grey sky is white and blue. It's sad. But not too cold. I guess I have some stuff backed up on my queue and it's been posting without me. I'm wearing black leggings, hiking boots, yellow crop top with ribbon, dark purple v neck sweater, and pink cardigan he bought me. And grey neck warmer. I'm sad I left my black snow boots at his place and one of my only three bras. My area of sleeping is a mess of holiday shiz boxes and boxes of storage and the cats pee on the ground. Yes my life is disgusting so am I. Why I love white minimalism and pale aesthetic so much. Cleanliness, holiness, spaciousness and no clutter. My parents is worse than my boyfriends. Yep. This is a long post because walking to grocery store takes like 40 mins instead of twenty from my boyfriends. I ate bananas this morning. Im on my way to get vegan yogurt and protein bars. Thank God they don't have banana nut muffins and cheese danishes there.

Alright, I thought about it last night a bit.

I may just stop forcing myself to do the usual 'male v monday' 'shippy saturday' 'thirsty thursday' 'wip wednesday' stuff (I mean I can't even manage to keep up with that either) and instead post whenever I want, like I do on Friday already when everyone is posting their gorgeous females but I (if I post) do post my boys since I do not have any female oc.

I don't know if I'll completely abandon the tags for it or not. it's gonna be more: if I manage to post on that day, I'll add it, if not, I'll reblog and then tag it with the tag or sth like that.

I will still try and take my at least 30min of time a day (mostly after work around 6pm German time) to browse tblr. Queue often makes noe sense to me, sometimes I use ib when I feel I've reblogged to much in a row already but I do not tage anything that will come from my queue so you won#t even notice that it was queued.

I've also set a few blogs on receive notifications so I do not miss any new posts. I love that feature! But sometimes I have to stop using it if a blog keeps posting like every 1h through the day which will give me 24 notes a day on my phone - forcing me to look and I can't do that. I need to find some balance somehow. Still a thing to figure out to have it healthy.

I do not want to abandon looking at content because you all create so many cool things, but in this fandom, as I already said it so many times: it is just so hard to keep up with it. So please do not be mad about me or think I do not like your stuff (anymore) because I've not liked/reblogged a thing lately of your content. I often feel very 'unmenschlich' (inhuman?) when I can't find time to give some love to others work bc I receive so much from all of you, therefore I want to give it back as well.

Idk how you manage having 4+ ocs btw. I with my 4 boys feel like I abandon at least one for too long (rn it is Vijay - and it makes me so incredibly sad, no one will probably understand). But I have to keep telling myself, he will receive a whole lot of attention and love again. However, this month is for Thyjs, because he's having his birthday soon (13th) and so I will focus on him in the first place.

I decided to slide in Jaysen for something else yesterday (because spontaneous things still happen) and I'll hopp in to take a bunch of pic of him as well once my writing here is done, bc he's modeling for some new real cool pants. And then I go back to my soldier boy doing the same (if I can manage bc taking pic … takes time xD).

I'll just need to find a balance when I do at least answer roleplay or do story writing because this also I feel very bad about It gets neglected the most, mainly because I've never been a writer. But I find such joy in it and I feel like a bad person that my rp partner always has to wait such long time until I answer. Some days I'd just love to thorw literally everything aside and just do rp 24h nonstop (we all know this doesn't work) because I love love love this story that developed in the past year and when I think about it I'm just so hyped to share it one day but it's a lot of work to do. It's gotten something like a lifetime project by now?

G: Do you write your story from start to finish, or do you write the scenes out of order?

Very much out of order. I've found through a lot of trial and error that if I try to write chronologically, I end up just sitting and staring at the page; and that writing out of order helps me keep longer-term details straight in my head to make foreshadowing easier.

For example: I've drafted chapters in all 5 parts of my new Loki AU, rather than finishing Act One before moving on. It helps me keep a handle on the main signposts of the plot, in addition to making me feel more productive.

I no longer sit there and spend a bunch of time fact-checking, or trying to think of the right word, or figuring out how to do a scene; anything that slows me down, I just jot down a note and put it in brackets, then continue. Then I just use Ctrl + F to find everything in brackets and fix it before posting.

H: How would you describe your style?

Minimalist with a slightly twisted sense of humor, unless I'm deliberately trying to be otherwise.

V: If you could write the sequel (or prequel) to any fic out there not written by yourself, which would you choose?

Oh that's a tough one. I don't read a lot of fic, in any fandom, because I tend to use my limited free time for writing instead.

But this is one of the few Loki post-S1 fics I remember vividly, and while it's certainly fabulous as-is, I could read an episodic S2 all day long. I loved where it ended but would love a sequel almost as much, I think.

a buncha headshot portraits! three out of five portraits, i'm finishing up the last two c: the sketches here are from way back in august/september, and i fiddled with them for some weeks on end trying to make Something out of them, then proceeded to frustratedly shelf the lot of them away. so it's nice to see at least these three all finished up now :') and they were really nice to work on too ;v;

but ohoho okay, this is a lot of announcements in one single post, so bear with me a moment :3c here's a tl;dr first: 1) headshot portraits as a new commission option maybe? :0ccc 2) commissions are opening again on monday, jan. 23rd! 3) separate commission info webpage for reading convenience (particularly for folks on mobile) 4) commission rules changes: payment in full & upfront, rather than half-and-half 5) two-slots-per-person rule will be no more and folks are free to send as many orders as they want, but any ones after the second will go into the queue instead 6) also a small change with unoccupied queue slots

so, i've been thinking about adding this sort of portrait as a commission option!! fairly simple compositions but fully rendered (because i darn love painting so much; cellshading is nice and all, but coloring it all in one layer is just... heart-eyes), on the big 2600px to 3800px canvases as well c: and i'm thinking of pricing commissions like these at 28 USD (feels like a good price but i'm accepting feedback on that — the point was to add something that's just straight up fully-rendered, but for the lower end of the pricetable, and the limitations of a headshot portrait feel fitting enough on both sides ;v; )

also portraits like these are fairly quick to draw, so the turnaround time would be fairly short! add to it that 1) these are fun, 2) i could use focusing on just the face and expressions rather than elaborate poses and all, 3) portraiture lighting my beloved, and 4) these are painted, and don't take forever to figure out or paint. :D but yeah, let me know what you think of the headshot portrait option!! would you folks be interested in something like this? :0c

a couple commission rules are changing!

1) from this new batch onwards, i'll be charging commissions in full & upfront instead of the half-half system i'd been doing up until this point. the exception is if an order exceeds $80 USD; for those ones we'll return to the half-before-sketch + half-once-finished situation instead!

but how's that? :0c i hope this is alright, but please let me know if this would make commissions just... unaffordable ;o; i do really like the half-half system, and i'd rather keep it, but it's either this or raising prices, and i don't think i can do that yet :T either way, please let me know your thoughts on the matter!!

2) the only-two-slots-per-person rule will no longer be in effect, so go ham with multiple orders if you wish on monday — the caveat is that i'll still be working only on two orders at a time per person, so if you order three things, the third one will be placed at the end of the queue c:

looking back i could've... done this from the beginning. orz it should be more convenient to send multiple orders if you have 'em!

and finally, 3) if the queue list hits its closing date with slots still available, folks who have already ordered and would like to get in the queue again can go on and grab those empty queue slots if they want, instead of being limited to two slots per person per batch, and then having to wait for an entire new batch.

i opened this exception for the last round of commissions (thank you once again to the folks who wanted repeats ;-; ) so i thought i should just make it into a proper thing instead, since it does make sense to do it anyway — the queue list is purposefully filled with a ton of slots, then left open for weeks on end to make sure everyone interested can get their orders in, so letting folks claim those remaining slots after the deadline sounds fine ;v;

that being said, there won't be a deadline for this monday's batch, so this bit technically doesn't change anything xD but i thought i should mention the New Thing #6!

Okay I know that I answer this one pretty much any time somebody asks me anything about somebody else's work right now, but I can't help it I am just inappropriately obsessed with this story it lives in my brain gnawing on my thoughts daily like a hungry little goblin: The Harrowing by @chthonion

Also I am very very excited to finally be home properly for a full day so that I can sit down and re-re-re-read the latest chapter and finally respond to it and by "respond" I mean "go feral" ahhhhhh.

Hmm I'm not sure I really have go-tos there? It depends entirely on the story. (I suppose I could say gimleaf, because I would absolutely work them into e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g except that 99% of the fics I write these days are gimleaf-centric, so that. doesn't work.)

Possibly Éowyn/Faramir because they're lovely and also live in Ithilien (and I really enjoy Éowyn getting to fuck with people shh) which puts them in a geographically convenient position to be referenced; also Aragorn/Arwen because the compare/contrast of their elf-loves-mortal relationship is very rich ground for a Legolas/Gimli shipper to poke at. I've also quite unintentionally become a Maedhros/Fingon shipper due to reading far too many lovely things lately and...

Oh, and I'm stupid. Obviously my favorite side-pairings to slide into a fic are Celebrimbor/Annatar and Celebrimbor/Narvi and, best of all, Celebrimbor/Narvi/Annatar. Duh. I'm sorry, I'm really stupid about shipping and my brain doesn't always work XD

so what's happening here?

okay. so first off - i changed the main's url a while back and then realised 'wait if that's not using this one then i can put it back here' i intend to dedicate most of my spoons today to fixing links - if it's been more than 8 hours since this post was made and you find a broken link, please tell me

but anyway. we are reincarnating (i still got the long covid but trying to make it easier on me this go around)

what's changing? well, i intend to have two different types of builds here: - adaptations - direct adaptations of a character, presented without description as the original character's should suffice. for example, gym leaders and danganronpa characters would likely fall here. instead of characterisation notes, i'll just have ideas of how to integrate them. (this doesn't necessarily mean all the human characters will be human though. that's boring) - inspirations - the majority of existing builds fall under this. examples being basically any mon that isn't a specific one like guildmaster wigglytuff. these will have characterisation notes though perhaps not as in-depth as they used to - long covid messed that one up a bit.

and what's new?

i'll be making example sheets, probably using MPMB's pdfs. i say probably because they need adobe acrobat, so don't run natively on linux and i can't get them to run through wine - but they look so good i've set up a win10 virtual machine just to use them - why this over beyond? beyond still hasn't implemented some stuff properly, and the exported pdfs require scrolling in some fields in my experience which means no printing - why this over dicecloud? again, pdf export reasons - you can't export it in any easily readable way - why this over insert any other pdf here? this one does the maths for me :v

if these sheets don't work out for me i'll be using dicecloud for the maths and just copying stuff into another pdf. if they do work out i'll put a proper payment in for them; i appreciate PWYW for letting you try them out first too

generally these will be level 5 or 6 to play around with how i see them.

i have no schedule for this currently. i'm mostly posting this to try and force brain into it - the adhd stuff is. Going - but hopefully i'll get /somewhere/ next month.

i also intend to update all the existing builds. mostly just making sheets for them, but some of them there's cool new stuff they can use on heroforge. as such, i'll be preparing them, and once i have enough i'll start queueing them and updating their links once i do

regarding homebrew - my friend's homebrew i've used for a couple isn't available currently, so i'll adapt them to new roles. scrafty's going to be the hardest, but i can deal i do intend to look and see what homebrew is set up for whichever sheets i end up going with - it won't be the main focus but it will give some inspiration...

R - Which friendship/platonic relationship is your favorite in fandom?

Buck and Chris. My relationship with my best friend's daughter (hereby known as Sweet Lil' Bean, or SLB) is very similar to theirs. I met SLB when she was 2.5 years old, and began teaching her at my preschool shortly before she turned three. My co-teacher/her mom ended up becoming one of my best friends (to this day!) When I was out of work for a while, I took care of SLB just like Buck took care of Chris (with zero natural disasters, thank goodness!). When I see love Buck has for Chris, I'm reminded of my love for SLB. And like Chris, SLB has her own disabilities, but her family and I all fight hard to make the best life for her. I know I made this all about me, but it's the reason I love them so much!

A - Ships that you currently like a lot. (They don’t have to be OTPs because not everyone has OTPs.) Friendships, pairings, threesomes, etc. are allowed.

I'm gonna be honest- I like romantic relationships, but I'm really here for the friendships/familial relationships on the show. -The whole Lee family, of course including Chim! I've talked about them in length in tags to posts that are still in my queue, but suffice to say that they mean so much to me!!!! -Maddie and Buck. Our parenting situations are vastly different, but my little sister is nearly 9 years younger than I am, and we have no other siblings, so I understand the feeling of watching your baby sibling going through life and wanting to protect them but also let them grow. And the guilt for leaving, even if for me it was to attend grad school in another city. -Hen and Athena! They're such a great team, ride or die for each other! They build each other up and focus on each others' strengths, while also not being afraid to call the other out or poke fun of each other. -Hen and Chim, a classic! For all of the same reasons as I love Hen and Athena, though Hen and Chim are more prone to hijinks (I say more prone, but I will never forget Athena having to call Hen to grab the key to the handcuffs from her purse! I have never laughed so hard as I did in that scene!!! IDK if any scene will ever top it for me!)

V - Which character do you relate to most?

This one's tricky. I'm not sure if there IS one character I relate to most. I see my relationships with kids (especially SLB) through Buck's relationships with children. I see myself as a big sister through Maddie. I also see the way my body is similar in some ways to Maddie's, especially her post-pregnancy, and if she's beautiful, then I can love myself, too. I see my queerness in Hen and Karen, even if I'm not sure how I identify yet. And even though we're from different ethnic/cultural backgrounds, I still see my own culture/traditions and family in The Lees. I see the person I want to become in Athena, Bobby, and Hen. And I see myself in Ravi, the cute one who isn't always involved in the shenanigans, and sometimes is embarrassed by them, but love my found family all the same. So in the end, I don't think I can say I relate "most" to any one of them. I see myself in all of them, and to me that's even more special <3

I - Has Tumblr caused you to stop liking any fandoms, if so, which and why?

Before I was on tumblr, I was contributing fics and art to this fandom. I made really good friends on fanfic dot net. I made really good friends on d.eviantArt. I've even co-written fic with two friends, and I wrote a fic and a friend drew a scene from it!

Then I joined tumblr in 2012. And aside from the infamous trio that this show was a part of, the fandom itself was no fun at all. I made a couple friends in a niche part of the fandom, but as a whole the tumblr fandom disengaged me from the show (I mean, season 4 could have done that all on its own, but tumblr started it years earlier instead).

Thankfully I never got hate, but so many people were nasty in that fandom that I pretty much never made fanart or fic for a fandom again.

Looking back, I've forgotten how much time and love I poured into the things I used to created, and how I had a wider sphere of being known. Like I wrote a bunch of fics mostly about D.I. Dimmock and a couple about Lestrade, and I was known for that! Like Dimmock was my guy! My blorbo from my show! and everyone knew him!

Granted, my hands don't work like they used to, and I don't have the time or brainpower like I previously did. But still, I miss the bonds that I made, before either of those other sites went down the gutter.

I realize that I totally went off tangent, sorry about that. But clearly, you can see the feelings I have for that fandom.

Why did you choose your url?

The current version? Initially, when I changed my name from furiouslydecaffinated (misspelt and I honestly couldn't think of anything that wasn't already taken) I wanted streetlight-halo, which was taken. Which turned into streetlightaurora which turned into streetlites because I dreaded any ask song games that I like playing but having like 2093847 letters made me think, never mind. lol... so. I have a shorter name for song ask games. really. But I really like it!

How long have you been on Tumblr?

2015! I started it to creep on cc creators way back when I was mm and wanted amazing cc from @budgie2budgie and @bsimth who actually took the time to use simlish lettering! I'm completely alpha but I still really appreciate a simlish swatch!

Do you have a queue tag?

I very seldom have a post queued to where I have to have dedicated tag. I use things like queueueueueued as a joke on the rare occasion I've got something waiting.

Why did you start your blog in the first place?

I started my blog to like posts I intended to download. Then I started to like posts I, you know, liked and couldn't keep up with all of them. I think I about fell out of my skin when I reblogged a post about recoloring bedding and @saudade-sims4 and @deelitefulsims responded to help me out with them - I wasn't expecting helpful people! lol I think, without that little bit of interaction, I probably would have lurked and eventually deleted. Instead, it got me looking and interacting with more people on here.

Why did you choose your icon/pfp?

I really liked that edit of Vera - it's got that pseudo-religious imagery I really dig. Before I was using a vorcha giving the finger... because I thought it was funny.

Why did you choose your header?

I was seeing a lot of pictures meant to serve as cover images for simblr stories and wanted to make my own.

I think one of the slanted "window" posts. It's cc, super old and obsolete. I don't think it counts.

Writing:

Currently on refining CH02 as we had additional ideas to make it more interesting and I fixed Ryder's way to talk since this chapter is old as fuck and back then when I wrote him he was just created.

After they ended their discussion about the next gig they wanted to proceed, everyone seemed to be hanging in his own thoughts for a while. Scharfenberg just arrives back at the table with another fresh beer when he hears V cursing a mumbled “Fuck”, eyes fixed onto his mobile phone. “Yo, what’s wrong, V?” Vijay doesn’t look up but mumbles something to him instead. “Ah, I fucked up one of my programs. I’ve installed this new intrusion program, you know? ‘S called Wizard’s Book. Scans through billions of possible codes and code words in seconds, tryin’ each in one turn. In that way I can get code-ga—”  “Okay, I hear awkward runner language, V. I’m opting out!” Ry disrupts him as he sits back down at their table and promptly decides to give Chigasaki some attention instead before they fall asleep as they just yawned. Steyr puts a smirk to his lips. He knew how to stop Ryder’s curiosity. A “Hizumi-chaaan, tell me—” however is all Vijay hears Ry say in the background because his mind is back fully concentrating into finding more data about his new gained choom named Arki.

I don't know if the current layout stays as it's been a while since I've done it and I'm always thinking about how to make it tumblr friendly as it is currently set in 16:9.

I've sorta been a busy bee and produced a bunch of new VP (some I'll still hold back until time is right as they are chapter-related and that takes me also a while). I've collected a long long list of nexus mods for Hizu to create them as fast as possible after I come back from my trip. Ofc he is also available from now on for asks if there are any, as I like to develop him a bit as well. I'll put some facts in a next pic post with him.

for a long time my personal brand was the friend that loved glitter vfx and makeup in general, ofc i would go all out and leave trails of glitter everywhere lmao also i like having a url that is recognizable but not fandom affiliated

yes lmao so many but the active ones are only @ellavaday for rpdr stuff, @ccantaloup for cute animal videos food and reminders to be kind to yourself (it is where a lot of... not particularly good stuff used to be documented and instead of deleting it i decided to rebrand it and keep it as a reminder to myself) and @ateneawrites for fic writing (this one's a baby and it's brand new bc i haven't written for fun in a good 6 years, i'm rusty but definitely having fun at least)
