I see and like @sketchquills corpse puppet au.... I see people using their ocs as 'y/n'.... I decided to follow their lead with my oc, Suzie. But since her sister is the better known of my WH ocs, she's also included as an adorable addition.

Also, knowing how the Corpse Bride movie goes, I feel like there's going to be a reunion in the au between Eddie and Frank, so there's a small bonus doodle of that scenario.

I had some fun looking for victorian era outfits to come up with, but I did want to try my hand at the 'y/n' attire for one drawing.

I don't think I can put into words how much Matpat and the Theorist channels, especially Game Theory, mean to me. While I was heartbroken when he announced his retirement, I understand completely and wish him and his family the best.

While I'm not the biggest horror fan, (I don't like gore and jumpscares), I'm still fascinated by the indie horror series that are out there. I've gained an appreciation for these kinds of stories, and that's in large part thanks to Matpat because I learned about them through Game and Film Theory. So what better way to pay tribute than to represent some of my favorites right here?

summary: while filming in london, you have a special guest visit you at work

you're standing on set, mentally exhausted but pushing through as you try to channel the villain you're playing. 

the heavy makeup, the dark clothes, everything about the character feels so different from who you are. it's been a long day, and while you're focused on your next scene, your thoughts keep drifting to lena, knowing she's in london too, playing against arsenal with wolfsburg in the champions league semi-final. 

you wish you could be there, but acting doesn’t exactly allow for last-minute trips across town.

"hey, can you turn around for a sec?" your costar says casually, snapping you out of your thoughts.

"uh, sure?" you respond, a little confused as you turn.

the sight that greets you makes your heart skip. lena's standing there, a playful smirk on her face, with sveindis right beside her. 

you blink, trying to register that they’re actually here, in the flesh, on your film set.

"what the hell?!" you exclaim, rushing over to them. "what are you doing here?"

lena chuckles, taking in your costume. "i had to see this for myself. my girlfriend, the horror villain. you look... terrifying, baby."

you laugh, rolling your eyes. "yeah, yeah, i know i look like i just crawled out of the underworld and the SFX makeup doesn’t make this any better. but it's just a character, promise. i'm still me under all this." 

"thank goodness," lena jokes, stepping closer and pulling you into a tight hug. "though, it kinda suits you."

"oh, shut up," you nudge her playfully, feeling a warmth settle in your chest at how easily she makes everything feel lighter. "i missed you."

"i missed you too," she murmurs, kissing your temple. 

you turn to sveindis, grinning. 

"and you! i can't believe you both came here. you know you’re my favorite of lena's friends, right?"

sveindis laughs, shaking her head. "i mean, i try."

"seriously though," you sigh, "i wish i could come to your game. it’s killing me that i can't be there."

"we know," lena says, her voice softening. "but you’re busy, and you're killing it here. we get it."

you nod, biting your lip. "yeah, but it still sucks."

"you'll see us in the final, though," sveindis adds confidently.

"damn right i will," you grin. "you better win."

"we'll try our best," lena says, squeezing your hand.

they don’t stay long, knowing you're in the middle of filming, but before they leave, lena gives you another quick hug, whispering, "i’m proud of you, you know that?"

"i'm proud of you too. now go crush arsenal," you whisper back, your heart swelling with love as they walk away.

you spend the rest of the day filming, but your mind keeps replaying the moment with lena, that grounding presence she always brings with her. 

when the director finally calls cut for the day, you’re exhausted but relieved to be done. 

as soon as you’re back in your trailer, you pull out your phone and check the score. wolfsburg won. 

you waste no time pulling out your phone to call lena. as soon as the ringing stops, you hear her excited voice on the other end.

“hey, baby! we did it!” she practically yells, and you can hear the noise of celebration in the background.

you can’t help but laugh, her energy contagious. “i saw! i’ve been dying over here, refreshing the score like a maniac.”

“you should’ve seen it,” lena says breathlessly, still riding the high of the win. “it was insane. poppi scored the winner, and everyone lost their minds!”

“i’m so proud of you,” you say softly, smiling to yourself. “i wish i could’ve been there.”

“don’t worry about it. you’re working hard too,” she reassures, though you can hear a little hint of longing in her voice.

“well,” you pause, biting your lip, “i’ve got news. i’m taking time off to come to eindhoven for the final. i’m gonna be there.”

there’s a beat of silence before you hear her gasp. “you’re serious?”

“of course! there’s no way i’m missing this. i’ll be in the stands, screaming my head off for wolfsburg.”

“oh my god,” lena breathes out, and you can practically see her smiling. 

“that’s... that’s amazing. i didn’t think you’d be able to make it.”

“well, i pulled some strings,” you tease, feeling a weight lift from your chest just knowing you’ll be there. 

you didn’t really need to pull any strings. the champions league game happens to fall on the week break that filming has. 

“and as soon as filming wraps for good, i’m coming back to germany. i promise we’ll have time again.”

“you have no idea how much i’ve missed you,” lena says quietly, her voice soft now, intimate. 

“it’s been so hard with both of us being so busy.”

“i know,” you whisper, “but we’ll get through it. we always do.”

“god, i can’t wait to see you,” she says, the happiness in her voice clear as day. “it’s going to be perfect.”

“i can’t wait either,” you reply, heart swelling with love. “and hey, tell sveindis she’s still my favorite for scoring the last three games, okay?”

lena laughs, a sound that makes you feel like you’re home even though you’re still on set. 

“i’ll tell her. she’ll be so happy about it since she's a fan of yours.”

“awee,” you joke, leaning back in your chair. 

“you two better get some rest tonight. you’ve got a champions league final to win soon.”

“don’t worry,” lena says confidently, “we’ve got this. and knowing you’ll be there... that’s all the motivation i need.”

“i love you,” you say softly, letting the words settle between you.

“i love you too,” she replies, her voice warm and full of emotion. “see you soon, okay?”

“see you soon,” you echo, smiling to yourself as you hang up.

seems to be a lot of mischaracterisation in the trolls fandom.

there seems to be a big disconnect between how the fandom likes to portray brozone and how they actually acted in the film itself

and its a little weird to me if i'm being honest it'd be like if i started making a bunch of cute fanart that acted like creek and poppy were a wholesome power couple in the first movie

and creek was a selfless hero who would give his life to protect his true love.

point is brozone were selfish jerks who didn't show remorse until they were finally faced with consequences and even then it didn't last very long and they continued to behave in a terrible manner in present day clearly having learned nothing from their past experiences

and they just get let off the hook in the end because its a kids movie and they can't have a kids movie teaching kids that maybe their family treating them badly is wrong and they shouldn't have to put up with it

like i said there just seems to be a big disconnect between who the fandom acts like these characters are and who the movie actually portrayed them as through their actions and behaviours.

yet the fandom makes them out to be this wholesome family in a way which the movie never actually portrayed them as at all.

Actually, what are the ink forms? I'm really curious.

I’m planning on making a doodle page with explanations about their forms, but it’s taking a while so I’ll show what I’ve got-

The puppets in this AU are made of ink but aren’t exactly made of just ink - think of them as BATIM/Who Framed Roger Rabbit kind of creatures. They’re other worldly beings made of ink.

However the events of the AU involve the puppets being very new to these forms, so they drip often because they forget to maintain these forms. Over time, they become more solid and don’t need to worry about dripping, but it happens on occasion or if they’re stressed/panicked/sad. Wally, Frank and Poppy drip the most out of them - Poppy out of nervousness, Frank because even after living with Fionn for a while he never got used to the sudden change, and Wally because most of the AU involves him and he’s stressed out a lot, plus he has a bit more trouble trying to maintain his form.

The ink they’re made of is insanely flexible - think of Splatoon ink but more otherworldly - which allows them to travel via hopping. They can remain in blob form or can morph half of their body into their regular forms with their legs being a puddle. When in their ink forms, they’re primarily black with slight swirls of their outfit’s colours peeking out, but as they get used to it, their ink becomes less black and more like their most dominant colour(s) (Wally’s being blue/yellow, Poppy’s being red, Eddie’s being orange, etc.)

A downside to their ink forms, however, include being unable to touch water, due to ink mixing with water - it can be quite painful to them. And they can’t get too close to fire/hot things, otherwise they’d melt or burn, almost like film. After some time in the human world, I can imagine that they’d somehow get more used to it and they’d be able to touch water, but in general it’s painful for them. They also don’t need to eat and drink, but to keep substance, I like to think they rely on either drinking/sleeping in ink pots, or they snack on lollipops.

But yeah- I might come back to this but this is the basic outline of their ink forms!!!

Finally the designs for the Never Apart AU are finished!!

And for those who don't know anything about the au yet: In this au Viva, Clay and Floyd are not separated from Poppy and Branch, in fact, Clay takes responsibility for Branch and Floyd after seeing their grandmother being taken away while Viva suffers the loss of his father Peppy during the escape from Bergen Town.

Viva becomes queen and decrees that a wall be built around the troll village to protect them from predators and bergens. Clay becomes her real partner and in the process introduces Branch to Poppy, which ends up making the two of them close and friends.

Poppy, however, wants to see the outside world, she wants to leave the comfort of her home and see what is outside the walls, but Viva is too protective, afraid of losing her. Branch is caught between supporting Viva's decision and supporting Poppy's dream, while Clay is super in favor of keeping everyone safe.

Floyd has become a recluse, always dreaming of seeing Branch smile again and hearing him sing again, something he and Clay feel guilty about.

And Creek? well, he's less of an asshole, I have a lore planned for him but let's just say he doesn't like Branch because he's too negative, seeing negativity as contagious and unacceptable. He has a certain amount of respect for Clay, for keeping them all safe, but Floyd, well, he has conflicting feelings about him….👀

This AU exists in fic format on both Wattpad and AO3 under the name Bluer Skies, this is the title of part 1 of the story of this AU and retells the events of the first film in a different way.

Trans Horror Authors

My January reading challenge is to read a book by a trans author. Luckily, there are many out there to choose from! Here are some who write in the horror genre, because that's my area of expertise. If you know of others, whether in horror or other genres, reply with your recommendations!

In no particular order...

Caitlin R. Kiernan

A genderfluid Irish-American paleontologist who also writes spectacular cosmic horror, what's not to love? They've been repping queerness since the 80s and have a robust library to choose from, so you're bound to find something you'll like!

Poppy Z. Brite

Billy Martin, whose work is published under the name Poppy Z. Brite, was a big name in the Gothic horror scene of the 1990s and continues to be a frequently-recommended author, although he doesn't publish as much horror these days.

Julya Oui

A Malaysian trans woman and prolific short story author. She has several collections out that you can browse, if short stories are your speed! Maybe start with Taiping Tales of Terror, which draws heavily on her native folklore and influences.

Rivers Solomon

A nonbinary, intersex Black author now living in the U.K., Solomon has three books out and they all look spectacular. Their books lean more toward sci-fi/fantasy, but their newest title Sorrowland looks to be pretty solidly Gothic as well.

Gretchen Felker-Martin

Trans woman, film critic, and unapologetically outspoken. Her best-known book is Manhunt, a post-apocalyptic horror tale that doesn't pull any punches. She's got another new release slated for 2024 to keep an eye on.

Hailey Piper

One of the most prolific authors I can name off the top of my head, Hailey also has several novellas out in the world + a few novels. If the intersection of queer fiction, body horror, and cosmic horror sounds like your thing, you can find something in her backlist. Also she's here on tumblr, go learn more at @haileypiperfights

Eve Harms

A bit of a new player on the field, but well worth checking out. Eve is a Jewish trans woman. Her debut novel, Transmuted, is a breathless body horror romp. She also makes a bunch of handmade zines, which I just think are neat :)

Natalie Ironside

One of Tumblr's very own better-known names, Natalie is queer, disabled, trans, hilarious, and author to at least three novels I can think of plus some other stuff too - go scope her out on @natalieironside for the details.

.....I know I'm missing a ton of people but these were the first ones that came to mind. I have to get back to writing, but I hope this inspires y'all to pick up a book you haven't read yet, and to add to my list down in the notes.
