Just something I've noticed I think we as a fandom have gotten WAY too comfortable using the phrase "get reaped" as an insult, when it's a very serious reality that many children live with and should not be taken this lightly. Some people online have had to put their names in more for necessities like bread or water and the absolute terror that grips a person waiting for their name to be called doesn't leave you even in adulthood. Please think before you speak

CAPABLE HANDS
summary: marcus acacius is tired of his hands only bringing pain and destruction
pairing: marcus acacius x wife!reader
word count: 2.2k
warnings: i don’t think there’s any warning on this one guys. i kept it very pg-13. there’s like one mention of sex but blink and you’ll miss it.
a/n: hello everybody!! so my great friend kiwi ( @yxtkiwiyxt ), aka the biggest javi fan ever, created the 'never have i ever' challenge for the pedro pascal fandom way back in january and i decided to give it a little try. it's such a fun challenge, so if you're a fan of pedro pascal's characters hop on over to her blog and you'll be fed for a while.
in true nikki fashion, i'm very late but she thankfully extended it.
as you can probably tell i got marcus acacius because that man is just straight out of my fantasies and my prompt was 'never have i ever built something with my own hands'.
this came to me so fast. the moment she gave me the prompt i just knew! that being said it did take me like one month too long to finish it (again bad nikki habits).
my sincerest apologies empress kiwi 🥺 hopefully this is to your liking.
enjoy 🤍
His hands were made for war—for fighting, for holding a sword and not letting go until his arms felt like lead and the enemy was taken care of.
They're full of callouses and wounds that'll never heal. Scars that remind him of the person he is. General Marcus Acacius.
Despite the current leadership, he loved serving Rome. He was indebted to Rome. It is his home, and it forever will be.
He was proud of his achievements. He's come farther than he ever imagined, yet as the years go by, he can't help but feel that seed of guilt in the root of his stomach sprout bigger with each passing battle.
There comes a point where he cannot justify the cruelty and viciousness with which they fight.
They tear families apart, kill brave men defending their own homes, burn villages to the ground, and loot in the name of Rome.
For what?
More power, more riches, more gloryall while the country grows impoverished and hunger takes its claim on those less fortunate.
He yearns to return to glorious Rome. Beautiful Rome with marble pillars and vivid sceneries. The place where his lovely wife, you, waits for him after each conquest.
General Acacius yearns to forget.
You're the one who reminds him his hands are capable of more. They are gentle when he holds you. When he grabs onto your hips until you're spilling over him.
They're the ones you hold as you stroll in the gardens. Or when you insist on heading to the market despite your status.
They are soft, patient, encouraging.
His hands that tuck your hair behind your ear when a rebellious curly strand tickles your face.
And yet he always falls into that deep despair. Nights when he can't sleep, thinking of all the damage he's done to innocent people. He did it willingly at one point, chasing that infamous glory where Gladiator games would be held in his honor upon returning to battle.
Now, that glory mocks him. It's a mirage in the desert. Beautiful from afar but bitter up close.
He's selfish. Marcus Acacius could stop, but it would mean his death. He can deal with death, but he will not be the cause of yours.
So, as he untangles himself from your arms, Marcus goes outside to sit and watch over the city, vigilant. He remembers the market and the artisans building beautiful things with their hands—hands calloused and scarred from their skill, not weapons and death.
They say life mimics art.
He wishes to use his hands for more than striking. He wants to see his hands as more capable like you do.
His greatest skill, besides being a swordsman, is being observant. What makes General Acacius great is the way he's able to analyze a situation and strike at the weakest point. The next time you drag him to the market, he watches over the artisans, the tools they use, and their creations.
"Is anything the matter, husband?" You ask, grasping his arm. You don't miss the way he stares at the knife in the artisan's hand, and you worry.
Your husband doesn't like it much when you come to the market. He doesn't believe it to be entirely safe for a woman of your standing. Still, your beloved Marcus spoils you and lets you come. Accompanied by him, of course, and guards when he is not able to join you.
His focus shifts from the skillful shaping of the block of wood to you. He softly smiles, pressing his hand upon yours. "Are you ready?"
You nod with a smile, chattering about the fresh fruit you picked and the pastries you'll ask the cooks to bake for you. Woefully unaware of your husband's purchases.
That same night, when the same old nightmare wakes him, Marcus untangles himself from your limbs and sneaks away to a bench in the gardens. Under the stars, he looks at the block of wood in his left hand and the sculpting knife in his right.
As the knife starts to chip away at the wood, the more he distracts his mind from his duty as a General. In a way, he turns mindless, focusing on the rough edges and the splinters, successfully filling his hands with new creative wounds.
At first, you're blissfully unaware since Marcus always returns to your side before you wake. Then, wooden figures start being placed by your bedside, with rough initials scratched on the bottom.
Your dear husband never cared to mention his new hobby or the fact he was gifting you his work. It was unspoken. You cherish each one of his small sculptures, saving them and leaving them on display.
With each one, he only got better and better. Pride swelled on your chest as you witnessed his artistry grow.
It is refreshing to see him work through his worry with art instead of violence. You, more than anyone, know what ails him when he returns home fresh with new wounds.
There is no war raging around him, yet it remains in his mind. The Gladiator games do not entertain him as they do the rest of the Romans. He's forced to sit and watch the strongest prisoners fight all over again, killing what remains of his conquests.
His reluctance to go to the markets fades away. Marcus Acacius joins you a bit too eagerly, looking for a moment to observe the artisans and the skills they implement.
You take your time, inspecting each fruit and vegetable you have in your hands. Simply to give him more time.
The more he joins you, the more they notice him watching. A quiet, old artisan going as far as beckoning Marcus to come closer and ask the questions on the tip of his tongue.
"Are you ready?" You ask when there is no more to do, joining his side.
"If you are done, yes," he says aloof, leaving coin to the artisan who taught him a few things.
You smile, resisting the urge to giggle. Your big, strong husband avoids talking about what he finds enjoyable.
Warriors are not often seen as artists.
One night, you wake and find him missing from the bed. His spot is cold and empty; he's been gone a while. Unable to sleep, knowing he is awake, you search for him, a shawl wrapped around your shoulders to avoid the chill of the night.
A torch is lit in the garden, and you follow it like a moth to a flame. That's where your husband sits on a bench, knife in hand, and wood scrapings littering the trimmed grass.
"I was wondering where you found the time," you say, shuffling closer and sitting beside him. Shoulders brushing comfortably.
Marcus' head turns towards you, red dusting his tanned cheeks. "I can't sleep," he admits.
"Is it the nightmares?"
He nods, carving smaller details onto the wood, giving it a recognizable shape. His hands have new calluses from gripping the wood and the knife's differently shaped handle.
"You've become quite the woodcarver," you say, changing the subject he does not like talking about.
You won't push him. He has enough in his mind. You're thankful he's not like the other Generals who find distractions at the brothels.
"I've got a long way to go," he responds, turning the wood figure in his hands to assess it.
"Not tonight, though," you tell him, placing your hand over his. "You must join me in bed. It's far too cold without you."
Marcus Acacius softly smiles at you, nodding before placing the wooden figure and knife down. "Whatever my lady wife says."
This small habit of leaving the bed in the middle of the night does not cease. His hands itch to do something, to create, and he listens.
In the end, you're happy if he's happy. You let him be, sometimes dragging him back to bed when you need him most.
At times, you join him, curling next to him, eyes drooping but refusing to leave him. The movement of his hard muscles lulls you to sleep as he works at shaping the pieces of wood.
"There are far more comfortable places to rest, my wife," Marcus says, the low timbre of his voice rousing you from the sleep that threatens to take you under.
"The best place to be is by my husband's side," you sigh, getting more comfortable and ignoring his request. "If you wish me abed, you have to be there."
The time comes when the emperor twins become restless and order him to conquer in their stead. It is time to sully his hands once more with the blood of warriors protecting their home.
With one last wooden figure placed beside your bed and a kiss on your head, he leaves fearfully, wondering if this would be the one time he won't return.
You clutch the figure day in and day out, afraid if you let it out of your sight, bad news will arrive. You press your lips against the smooth surface when you miss him most, bringing it to your chest as if you could feel him close by the simple action.
In his absence, you learn you have been blessed by the gods and are expecting a child. More than ever, do you wish for your husband's safe return.
Many months after his departure, news of the battalion's return spread across Rome in a matter of hours. Your lady-in-waiting heard it from the servants who had gone to the market earlier in the day.
"My lady, your General has returned," she whispers excitedly, helping you get ready for the day.
"Are you sure?" You gasp, clutching your rounded belly in anticipation. Many months have gone by, and you did not think he'd make it for the birth.
The fact that no soldiers come to your door is reassuring. Your husband may be injured but not dead, and that is enough.
"He's been sighted joining the Emperors."
He comes like a breeze in the night, quiet and stealthy. With no need of unnecessary fanfare, he only wished to see you.
Marcus Acacius needed your reassurance once more. That his hands were not to be stained permanently.
He finds you by the fountain, looking as beautiful as ever. Hair curled and loose, front strands pulled back but with that stubborn fringe that refused to be held back. Such a reflection of your being.
A cloak hung around your shoulders, hiding your most precious treasure unbeknownst to him.
"My lady," he calls out, standing a few feet from you.
You look up from the pond of swimming fish, eyes round with surprise and excitement. "Marcus Acacius," you gasp.
He's back home. New scars, healed and unhealed, litter his tanned skin. His hair longer, pushed away from his eyes. He is safe, and he is sound.
You stand to approach him and greet him properly. Your feet drive you forward, and the movement pushes the cloak back, exposing your round belly.
He's always been so observant. It would be hard to miss.
Your arms curl around his neck, bringing him into an embrace. You thank the gods above for his safe return.
Acacius is frozen as his mind catches up with what he's seen. Such a reaction would get him killed in battle. You cup his face while pulling back, "Husband?" The tickle from the scruff on his cheeks is a comfort.
He's not in battle. Marcus is home with you.
His palms softly come to your belly. He's gentle, extremely so. "You're with child?"
"Yes," you say breathlessly, awaiting his reaction.
"You're carrying our child?" His voice is thick with emotion. Unshed tears fill his eyes as Marcus kneels on the ground, palms feeling the soft kick of his unborn child.
He only ever wished to have children with you so they'd take after their mother. It's been in the back of both of your minds, but his role as a General often took precedence.
"I only found out once you left," you confess, placing your hands over his. "Are you happy?"
"This is the happiest I've ever been," he says, standing to finally place his lips upon yours. There's a grunt in the back of his throat as he pulls you close or as close as your belly would permit. "You've made me the happiest man in the world, my wife."
General Marcus Acacius has a new purpose in life. He is becoming a father of a baby boy or baby girl. Nonetheless, he wishes to leave war far behind.
He needs to be in Rome to watch them grow and become noble people. He does not want to leave for months or years at a time, and he does not want them to see him in deep despair when he returns from such physical and mental battles.
Whenever he returns from war, the nightmares become more vivid, keeping him awake. His hands itch to create and to distract his busy brain.
This time, it is no exception.
Untangling himself from your tight hold, Marcus Acacius walks to the gardens. Picking up his woodcarving tools along the way. His hands itch for a new project, and what better project than building his child's crib.
sorry it wasn't very romancy, i really focused on general marcus acacius inner turmoil, don't we love a troubled man?

Encanto TV Show
So. I had Ideas. I want to know peoples thoughts before I actually start writing. (Ignore the fact that i'm almost 4 years late to the fandom)
Season 1
1 - Pilot: The Family Madrigal (Whole Fam Feat: Mirabel) Mirabel helps the family adjust to healthier habits in the early days after Casita is rebuilt, gently guiding them into a new chapter of life together. 2 - A Room of Ones Own (Mirabel) Mirabel feels like the family is avoiding her and gets really upset and lonely, only for the family and Casita to reveal that they made her her own room! 3 - Luisa Lets Go (Luisa) After accidentally breaking something during a vulnerable moment, Luisa realizes she still ties her worth to being strong and learns what it means to rest. 4 - Camilo Cares To Much (Camilo) Camilo shapeshifts nonstop to please everyone, but when a young fan copies him a little too well, he starts to unravel. 5 - Of Rats and Men (Bruno and Julieta) When a strange illness spreads in town, Bruno’s rats are unfairly blamed. He and Julieta team up to solve the mystery, healing a bit of Bruno’s reputation. 6 - Antonios Big Adventure (Antonio) Antonio discovers a creature that can’t speak to him, forcing him to explore other ways of understanding, and learning that connection takes more than magic. 7 - Game Night (Madrigal 3rd Gen + Mariano) The Madrigal kids (plus Mariano) have a game night that quickly devolves into chaos, competition, and comedy, before ending in giggles and heartfelt bonding. 8 - Flashback 1 (Madrigal 2nd Gen as Teens) Teenage Julieta, Pepa, Bruno, Félix, and Agustín navigate early gifts, clumsy romance, and Alma’s rising expectations during the miracle’s first years. 9 - Guys Night (Agustin, Felix, and Bruno) Félix and Agustín drag Bruno out for a night in town, challenging the village to treat him better while Bruno learns how to loosen up and be seen again.
10 - Power Swap (Whole Fam)
The family wakes up with their gifts completely shuffled. Cue hilarious chaos, instant regrets, and a whole new respect for each other’s daily struggles. 11 - An Artists Touch (Isabela and Mirabel) Mirabel and Isabela try to collaborate on a mural, but their wildly different creative styles clash until they find a way to blend beauty and mess into something uniquely theirs. 12 - Pranksters (Mirabel and Camilo Feat: Whole Fam) Mirabel and Camilo start a petty prank war that escalates into full family participation where everyone picks a side. 13 - Flashback 2 (Madrigal 3rd Gen. Pre Camilo and Mirabels Door ceremonies) A goofy happy episode about the Madrigal grandkids before Camilo and Mirabel both ahd their gift ceremonies. 14 - Still Abuela (Abuela Alma) As the village moves forward and relies less on her, Alma questions her place in the family, until Mirabel reminds her she’s still their light, even without the candle. 15 - Bedtime with Bruno (Antonio and Bruno) Bruno tells Antonio a bedtime story, and one by one the other kids gather to listen. Bruno feels like a part of the family finally. 16 - The Babysitters (Mirabel and Camilo) Mirabel and Camilo babysit a group of chaotic village kids and clash hard on parenting styles, until they learn that fun and structure can coexist. 17 - La Ratonovela (Rat Telenovela Feat:Bruno and Dolores) Bruno narrates one of his full-on dramatic rat telenovelas in person for once while Dolores keeps interrupting with ideas and questions. 18 - Hearing Hearts (Mariano +Madrigal 3rd Gen) Mariano tries to plan a romantic surprise for Dolores, while navigating the absolute nightmare of dating someone who can hear literally everything. 19 - Flashback 3 (Pepa Feat: Newborn Antonio) The story of Pepa’s pregnancy and the day Antonio was born. Its chaos obviously. 20 - Birthday (Madrigal Triplets) The triplets celebrate their first birthday together since Bruno returned, unlocking sweet childhood memories, unresolved guilt, and the quiet power of forgiveness.

13. a great ballroom during aan elegant party
Lando’s been listening to Alex and George squable about the correct pronounciation of the word ‘canapé’ for a good ten minutes when he finally says, “I think this is the year.”
George stops mid horrible French pronounciation. “The year of what.”
“The year of your mum,” Alex supplies unhelpfully.
”The year of this,” Lando says, gesturing around the ballroom they’re standing in. From the corner they’re tucked away in they can see the crowded dancefloor, the tittering girls and mama’s on the edges, the waiters with trays full of the aforementioned canapés and glasses of champagne. “The year I find my match.”
The music of the violen quartet in the corner is loud, and yet it is like you can hear a pin drop.
“A what,” Alex says, at the same time George makes a breathless little sound.
“I have been waiting for this moment all my life,” George says, sounding truly sincere, pulling a scroll out of his waistcoat. It unrolls and hits the floor with a quiet thud. “I have a list of all the eligible singles. Names, ages, occupations, parents occupations, side of the bed they prefer to sleep on,” George continues, scanning through his list.
“You scare me sometimes,” Alex says, rather deadpan.
“Ah!” George says, completely ignoring him. “Here. Max Emillian Verstappen.”
“I know Max,” Lando pipes up.
George ignors him, too. “Granted, he has that weird thing with Charles going, but if that doesn’t work out there’s a lot of money up for grabs here. Just imagine-“
Lando tunes him out, glances around the ballroom. He knew telling his friends would be a mistake. But he’s so goddamn tired of being alone, seeing everyone around him find their perfect match. He wants that too, wants someone to hold at night when it gets cold outside, someone who gets him, who makes him laugh, who he can just be himself around. High society is a burden at times. He just wants someone who understands that, who lifts that burden, if only just a little.
His eyes slide over the ballroom, over the girls in beautiful, colorful gowns, the guys in smart, gorgeous suits. And then they land on someone in the corner. He’s never seen the guy before, dressed in a rather simple plain suit with a swoosh of brown hair that looks artfully messy, a face that unremarkable yet Lando cannot stop looking.
He’s talking to a group of mamas, clearly making them laugh as they titter and fan their fans. One of them pushes her daughter forward, and he takes her hand, gracefully leads her to the dancefloor, where he glides along in a way that shows he knows what he’s doing. Yet Lando’s never seen him before.
So he turns to George. “Who’s that?” He asks, interupting George’s spiel about Carlos Sainz’s intricate hair routine.
George frowns. “That’s Oscar Piastri, don’t you remember him? He played cricket, too. Started late but was a real prodigy so by the time he got to our level he moved to Australia to try for real. Didn’t realize he was back.” George’s frown deepens. “I don’t have information on him yet, but give me a few days. Alex, wasn’t he friends with that guy you were sleeping with last summer? Logan something?”
“Sargeant?” Alex asks, shrugs. “Sure, I’ll ask.”
“Good,” George says. “We need a game plan. Maybe we can rendez vous back at my place in- oh my god Lando where are you going.”
Lando, having had enough of Alex and George’s chit chat, has decided it is time to get into action, and is now beeling for Oscar, who has since finished his dance, and is now talking to Frederik Vesti, looking relaxed and calm and laid back. ”Fred,” Lando says, clapping Frederik on the back jovially. “Jack’s looking for you, mate.”
“Is he?” Frederik asks, eyes bright, craning his neck around. “Oh, that’s. I’ll go find him.”
Frederik steps away then, leaving Lando in full view of Oscar Piastri, who’s just taking a sip of his drink and promptly lets it dribble all over his shirt when he spots Lando.
“Shit,” he says, clumsily dabbing at his shirt with a handkerchief. “Lando, I’m so sorry. I mean, uh. Mr. Norris. Lando Norris.” He says it a little in awe, a little breathless, and there’s a flush to his cheeks that wasn’t there before, not even when he as dancing.
Lando cocks his head. “Have we met?” He asks. Up close, Oscar is even cuter, with soft round cheeks and warm brown eyes. Lando’s never felt this intrigued about a person before.
“Oh,” Oscar says, awkardly scratching the back of his head. “Not, uh, really? I used to watch you play cricket, when we were younger.” When Lando doesn’t say anything, just raises an eyebrow, Oscar’s flush impossiblu darkens. “Not in a creepy way! Just uh. You were a few levels above me and like. Really good.”
Lando preens. He’s stopped playing cricket ages ago, but it’s nice to hear someone looked up to him like that. “Well, not creepy Piastri,” he says, enjoying the way Oscar stutters a little at that. “How about a dance then? For old times sake.”
Oscar’s eyes widen but he takes the outstretched hand, lets himself be led to the floor. The song is a slow one, and Lando relishes in the opportunity to put his hand on Oscar’s shoulder, let his other slide into Oscar’s, marvels at the way Oscar is slightly bigger yet his hands are so much smaller.
Oscar’s eyes don’t leave his for a second as they twirl around the ballroom, transfixed in a way Lando can’t explain, like he’s merely a moon circling Lando’s earth. It’s exilirating, being looked at like that, like he matters. Lando could get used to that, maybe. Would love to get used to that.
Lando licks his lips and Oscar’s steps falter, unnoticable unless you’re the one dancing with him, and Lando can’t help the grin that spreads across his face.
When the dance ends he bows at Oscar, never breaking eye contact, before making his way over back to George and Alex, feeling the prickle of Oscar’s eyes following him across the ballroom.
“That one,” he says, when he reaches his friends. “I want that one.”

Writing tag game!
Thank you @moonlightfrogsandkisses @enjoythesilentworld @filmspring for tagging me💜💜
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
27
2. What’s your total AO3 word count?
231.586 words (I can't believe I wrote all this in not even a year, I don't think I've ever written this much in my life as in the past year)
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Only Young Royals atm
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
1. Cake at three in the morning (That one fic that was inspired by that one cake promo video for DUO, will forever stay one of my fave fics I wrote)
2. The truth always comes too late (Still a bit overwhelmed by how many people love this fic)
3. I see you in my fantasy (and now it's real)
4. Hold your gaze on me and I feel like I'm dreaming (This fic really is my baby, I've worked so hard on it and I'm still so so glad with how it turned out)
5. Look at us / Quietly you say my name (a shared fifth place)
6. Do you respond to comments?
I do but I'm not the fastest at it. Just know that when you leave a comment, even though it can take a while for me to reply, every comment makes me smile and giggle and kick my feet and I'll look at it and read it again and again and again, especially if I'm feeling down.
7. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
That's probably This is the last time. I guess the title says everything because well...they don't end up together. But I have to say that there is some catharsis in it that makes the last goodbye a little bit more bearable and lighter.
8. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
That is A Christmas Challenge. This fic is overall very happy and cute and cozy (with a little bit of side angst). Actually very proud of this fic.
9. Do you get hate on fics?
No
10. Do you write smut?
Well yes, I think I have to say obviously when the majority of my fics are smut (mostly because of kinktober)
11. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
I haven't written any crossovers
12. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I know of
13. Have you ever had a fic translated?
No
14. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
If we count that one fic I wrote with an old friend when we were 14. We never published it though, we just did it through messages. Other than that no but I have to say I would like to do it because it's actually very fun.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
For this one I will have to say The Prophecy. It's the first Young Royals fic I started writing but...I totally lost connection to the plot and the story and I haven't written something for it in months and basically if I decide to continue it I will probably have to rethink the plot. (I actually wanted to delete it because well...I really do not like it anymore)
16. What are your writing strengths?
From what I gathered from comments, I might say writing action scenes, so scenes where a lot is happening. And I think that's because I'm good at building tension. I might say I'm good at worldbuilding too.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
What I struggle with the most when I write is dialogue. I think sometimes I overdo dialogue. Another thing I struggle with is vocabulary and sometimes how I build my sentences. Sometimes I'm searching for a word and I do know there is a word for it in English but I just can't find it. Sometimes I also have the feeling that my sentences don't really flow.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
I like it! But it has to be done in a good way. I used to do it when I was still writing in Dutch (years and years ago), I used to write my dialogue in English (when 2 characters spoke English as their main language) (that wasn't very well done lmao)
19. First fandom you wrote for?
If I'm really taking the first fandom I wrote for it was a Belgian band but back then I was still writing on paper and I was around 12-13. The first fics I published on wattpad and Tumblr were for the New Hope Club and The Vamps fandom. (Unfortunately they can still be found but let's forget about the rpf fics) (obviously that was another Tumblr account)
20. Favorite fic you’ve written?
Like I said earlier either Cake at three in the morning or Hold your gaze on me and I feel like I'm dreaming.

20 Questions for Fic Writers
Thank you for the tag, @broadwayfreak5357! <3
Here's my AO3 dash in case anyone wants to find any of the below-mentioned fics. I'm too sleepy to link them individually!
1. How many fics do you have on ao3? I have 400 works, but a handful of them are fanvideos, so I’m not 100% sure! Almost-ish 400?
2. What's your total Ao3 word count? 1,121,361
3. What are your top 5 fics by kudos? i’d like for you and i to go romancing (Good Omens), The Best Of It (Gilmore Girls - Rory/Paris), You do not have to walk on your knees (Once Upon A Time, Swan Queen), hold my hand as i’m lowered (Game of Thrones, Jaime/Brienne), and Teenage … Dream? (Once Upon A Time, Swan Queen). It’s hilarious to me that two of my most popular fics ever are Swan Queen, because I was always sort of a reluctant OUAT participant and I totally lost track of the show sometime around the time that Juliet from Lost had an ice cream parlor and was also from Frozen?? So I kind of have no idea what those fics are at this point. But I’m glad they’ve been embraced by society.
4. What fandoms do you write for? Soooooooo many! Over the past few years, I’ve been doing a fair amount of Succession (or, to be more accurate, RomanGerri; my apologies to the other characters on Succession, except Connor, who I will always spotlight and give alpacas to as an ardent Conhead), Ted Lasso (lbr, Tedbecca), Our Flag Means Death, Good Omens, and a little bit of What We Do In The Shadows and Hacks and Grace and Frankie. And there’s always a dash of Gilmore Girls sparkling in the back of my mind even though I haven’t done a proper series rewatch since like 2021. (Which is suddenly a long time ago. How??)
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not? I try to always respond to them because they make me so happy and I love getting to have that little moment of conversation! I definitely sometimes miss a few by accident. But I cherish them all!
6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? This is recency bias, but the pain of my Roman/Gerri fic torturous electricity stays with me. I wanted to really burrow into the misery of that point in canon (oh, late s4!) instead of giving into the very valid fanfiction urge to, like … give them a freaking break. The tension that came from this haunts me still, in a way I like. AGONY!
I also wrote this fic once called this young war will war for years where Morgana from Merlin had to ritually sacrifice a child in her quest for darkness, which was also a pretty big bummer. I haven’t thought about Merlin in a million years, but I think you could call that a bad time. I was really into the miserable witch angst. What can I say?
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? I’d say The Best of It (Rory/Paris) and i’m ready, i’m willing (RomanGerri + some general Roy fam stuff), because I was so happy to have in fact survived the writing process and finished them. You KNOW I’m putting a happy ending on anything I have to spend that much time with.
8. Do you get hate on fics? I have before, but fortunately not often!
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind? Only the nonexistent kind. I just don’t got the gift! I’m not very natural at, like, embodied writing in general. Describing what's physically happening always takes more effort for me. I feel like my focus defaults to more cerebral and verbal for sure. I probably should have tried to be a screenwriter! Maybe I still should!
10. Do you write crossovers? Sometimes. My Gilmore Girls/Twilight crossover fic Whatever our souls are made of where Edward tries to woo Rory before he goes for Bella but Paris refuses to let it happen (not that Rory would have, anyway) because that’s HER nemesis? One of my greatest achievements.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen? I have vague memories of something like this maybe happening in the Fanfiction.Net days? But I can’t recall any of the specifics anymore.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated? Yes I have!
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before? Yes, many years ago! I also fell into the most wonderful pit of co-writing a Lucy Griffiths and Richard Armitage fan-casting-inspired original fic romcom for multiple years with my dear @mattatouile which felt sort of fic-adjacent but also delightfully its own thing. 700+ pages! It got so real! It was the best! I’m now older than the oldest adult character in it, which is a truly haunting thought. Thirty-six seemed so far away once, and now it’s in my rearview mirror and I still feel so confused about life!
14. What's your all time favorite ship? My all-time favorite ship to just be a fan of is Luke/Lorelai. However, because I think fic is more fun when there’s been less of their potential explored onscreen (and I personally think L/L have a pretty satisfying canon love story), I think my all-time favorite ships to write are Rory/Paris and Roman/Gerri.
15. What's the WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? I have this The Holiday Ted Lasso AU about Ted/Rebecca and Roy/Keeley and every winter season I’m like, “Oh my GOD, I wish I could finish this, because it’s just such a fun concept.” But have I yet? Have I? No!! However: who knows what influence Ted Lasso season four will eventually have upon me? Anyway - this story has some bits I would love to share because I think it’s such a cute idea to imagine these two particular pairs romcomming it up in a The Holiday fashion. I might just cave and post “snippets from a ted lasso the holiday au” someday.
I would also love to write the following very ambitious RomanGerri endeavors:
A Jane Austen’s Emma AU with Roman as Emma and Gerri as Knightley. (This one I’m like … I gotta do it someday. I must summon all my powers somehow and make this real. I GOTTA do it. Greg is the Harriet Smith, lololololol.)
A Jeeves and Wooster AU with Roman as Bertie and Gerri as Jeeves. Maybe, like, the plot of an episode (Hunting, perhaps, since Roman’s arc in it kinda has the general structure of any J&W story?) but retold in some unholy combination of Roman Voice and Bertie Voice, bwahaha. I have no idea what that would even be; a true “makes no damn sense, compels me though” situation.
16. What are your writing strengths? Dialogue and conversations, character voices, comedy, and character/relationship analysis are the things I feel the most confident and happy doing!
17. What are your writing weaknesses? Research, factual or convincing world-building, motivation to actually write regularly, sex scenes that don’t end immediately before the sex scene starts happening (ha ha ha! Sorry!).
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in a fic? I would be very nervous and try to seek out some guidance, for sure!
19. First fandom you wrote for? Harry Potter (Ron/Hermione) was the first one I posted for on Fanfiction.Net, circa like 2001. I have this dim, dim memory of maybe writing some sort of Sweet Valley fic before that (I was big into Sweet Valley High: Senior Year in the early 00s), but any certainty about that has been lost to time. I also used to write tiny I Dream of Jeannie stories on paper when I was like seven, before I knew fanfiction existed (but I still felt the call!). Oh my God, they were roommates!
20. Favorite fic you've ever written? I don’t know if this is totally objective - then again, must one be objective? - but right now I feel like it’s my Succession post-series chapter fic i’m ready, i’m willing. It was more ambitious than any of the other fics I’ve written and dove into some heavier and more serious themes (while still devoting a lot of page time to Connor and Willa becoming alpaca parents, because I’m me), and I found it a really cathartic writing experience. Super challenging to get through, but so rewarding once I actually had! I finished it in 2023 and I’m still riding the high of I DID IT!!!! I can't believe it.
Tagging: I’m not really sure who’s already done this, but to summon some writerly pals! – @queenofattolia + @ladytharen + @jeaniefranklins + @mcbangle + @nilesandcc + @catherineflowers29 + @ksfd892 + whoever else wants to do this because I’d love to read your thoughts!

are you big on tv? do you have any shows you keep up with?
Nooo... I'm not much of a TV person, I'm sorry. I like to have something to watch while working out, and if I get sick or sometimes if I can't sleep. I've actually really tried to find stuff to get into this year, if only to give me more fandom blocks to play with! But so far I keep looking for TV shows to watch and then getting bored and disappointed about them, honestly. I wish there was something grabbing my attention lately.
Generally I look for things that are romantic (as an artistic descriptor, I don't require that they specifically contain romantic relationships) and have fun surreal, gothic, fantasy or mild horror vibes.
Between the start of December 2024 and March 2025 I've had a look at...
I saw the first episode of the 3-episode Dracula TV series from 2020 (the one by Mark Gatiss and Steven Moffat) but its mix of "balls to the wall fully camp zombie undead" and "serious gothic horror aesthetic" was a juxtaposition that I felt confused the delivery and didn't really work for me. It had some cool body horror moments, though, and might work for someone else.
I watched season 4 of the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure anime, which is part 5, "Vento Aureo" (season 4 is part 5 — thanks, everyone, good job, very helpful). It was a delightfully surreal little story. I would not recommend it to anyone who needs a series to make sense from scene to scene because it isn't very committed to that. But the themes and characters were so fun! I also love the character designs, they're very... alt fashion inspired? I guess? It was good. It was not without its own flaws, but, like, same. ┐(‘~`;)┌
I saw the 2022 film "The Pale Blue Eye" starring Christian Bale. It's a period thriller about a retired detective teaming up with Edgar Allan Poe to solve some murders. It's based on a book. While it was fun, it did not have a very coherent plot, and some aspects I felt were vastly overexplained (perhaps in compensation), but the vibes were immaculate and the delivery was fun. I would recommend it for watching while crafting or something like that.
I watched the first 5 episodes of Trinity Blood. It's an early 00s shoujo series about a post-armageddon Earth featuring a fully armed Vatican and a bunch of space vampires. I enjoyed the concepts, but the delivery didn't suit me so I stopped watching it.
I watched the first 3½ episodes of Love Between Fairy and Devil, a 36-episode Chinese series based on a fantasy book. I described it to a friend as "The Dark Lord Sauron becomes magically fixated on a wide-eyed girl who acts like a toddler, is bad at everything, and doesn't believe he is the dark lord." And I was amused by the toddler girl / dark lord vibes for a few episodes but I got bored of it pretty fast. Maybe for the romantasy people who don't mind a slightly pathetic heroine?
I watched the entire 2023 Onmyouji series, which was only 13 episodes long. I quite liked this one and now I'm a Seimei/Hiromasa shipper. The animation in this isn't to the standard you might expect for a 2020s series and I feel like the execution isn't actually awesome, but the setting, the plots of individual episodes, and the characters were its strengths.
I'm 2½ episodes into The Tale of the Nine-Tailed, a 2020 South Korean fantasy drama. The premise is sort of convoluted, but it has held my interest because I find the female lead — a supernatural investigative journalist searching for clues as to her parents' murder/disappearance — interesting. It's got kind of a horror vibe in some places. So far fun, but I'm only 2½ episodes in, and I've ignored it for a week, oops.
That's it, anon. I kind of wish I was better at this game!

Uh oh! Someone left me alone with my thoughts again! I don't see many people talking too deeply about pre-game stuff beyond "Number One was a terrible person" so I'm here to throw my own poorly explained hot take in to the ring-
I'm not really built for theory crafting and tend to miss or forget obvious details so consider this... an AU proposal more then anything. (Tbh I mostly just wanted to draw smol Yuma lmao-)
Spoiler warning ofc and enjoy this horrifically long and poorly explained ramble-
So... I don't really know much about the general fandom age headcannons on characters. I won't be going in to specifics right now about what I think all the character ages are cuz this isn't about that but for context, I pin Yuma around 15-16, on the early 18 side if you really wanna push it. Mainly cuz... it'd be kinda weird for Kurumi (a school student) to be one of his main love interests otherwise- For the sake of argument, I'll say 18.
So anyways-
Makoto's like... what? 3 or 4 years old? Forgive me for not re-watching chapter 5 just to get my timeline correct here but that's roughly right. Meaning that Number One would've been about 13 or 14 when he agreed to participate in the experiments at most. And sure, he's the smartest person in the world but anyone can be susceptible to lies or manipulations, especially someone that young.
But then of course we don't know how long Yuma had the Number One title for. Surely it would've had to have been at least a little while- I doubt the unified government would go after the blood of the newly appointed "smartest detective in the world" the second he got in to office. So who's to say exactly how much this literal child had been manipulated beforehand?
I'm imagining a sort of... Nagisa plus Kirigiri scenario (the danganronpa characters lol-) where they'd been set on a very specific academic path nearly their whole lives. Sure, Yuma probably had been born a genius and his strong moral code was most likely all his own but... no matter what way you spin it, there must have been some negligence to allow someone so young to become so cut off from the rest of society. It could've been intentional, it could've been accidental. Either way, why is someone like Yuma, who is obviously younger then most of his peers, who could easily pass as a trainee detective simply because of how smol he is, make it all the way to the top on his sheer intelligence alone?
This rambling's getting incoherent, sorry, it's late and I'm tired-
Makoto's pretty manipulative, sure, but he only got to the CEO position cuz of all the blackmail he had- Man had zero control over the city to the point he had to let outsiders get smuggled in just to help him fix it. Makoto (and by extension Number One) is book smart. Not street smart. They can build the rain machine, they can run multiple government conspiracies, etc etc. But if Number One was a kid at the time, it would've been pretty difficult for them to manipulate, mansplain, malewife his way in to office imo. A kid can't manipulate a dozens of adults in to being the leader of the whole WDO, no matter how naturally gifted they are. I mean it's no secret that the unified government and by extension the WDO are just as shady as Amaterasu so why wouldn't they take advantage of a young and impressionable kid when the opportunity arises?
We don't really know how Number One truly felt about anything. We know how Makoto views it, we know what Yuma thinks about it but we don't know if Number One really understood what the repercussions of the experiments could've been.
So let me just... break down what I'd interpret a vague timeline of events to be (in this hypothetical... Uh... AU I guess?)
- Yuma gets in to the WDO somehow. Very young, very impressionable. He may be really good at solving crimes but like any kid, he doesn't know anything that he isn't taught about. Being surrounded by mysteries and crimes, all while constantly being praised by adults as being "just soooo smart!" Is probably what taught him that he didn't need other people and so never learnt (or potentially was never even allowed to) make friends.
- Growing up surrounded by a combination of Yes-Men and people who let the obvious child labour/ exploitation slide because "This little genius is such a special case, we gotta let it slide this once!" Made it so he reached to the level of Number One far faster then anyone would expect. And that then came along with abandoning his old name and identity, isolating himself completely for his own protection. (I like to think he may not even remember his original name because he was so young at the time (for extra angst ^vO))
- And so a completely isolated pre-teen, who's entire life up until this point has entirely consisted of gory murder scenes and tragic crimes he was personally responsible for solving, was approached by the unified government. Who knows exactly how much detail they went in to with explaining their plan? Maybe they said that it probably wouldn't even work out, given all the past failures. Maybe they came begging for his help, like many people seeking justice would have done before them. Maybe they simply told him it was for the sake of peace? Maybe he was in his angsty emo phase and thought having a clone would be cool, who really knows? A pre-teen is a pree-teen, they all do dumb things- either way, he agreed.
- And so things played out like they said in the game, Makoto was created, escaped, saved the citizens of Kanai Ward via isolating them. He keeps them fed the only way he knows how - through the WDO; the only organisation he's ever been able to rely on (and thanks to his authority level, of course). Yuma starts getting suspicious while also simultaneously maturing enough to realise just how wrong everything about his life is, gets his new identity, makes the contract with Shinigami and heads off to start fixing his problems.
Additional Thoughts:
It's like that thing in the original beauty and the beast movie where everyone suddenly realised that the witch probably cursed a 9 year old for not letting a creepy stranger in to his home-
Maybe that's why he stuck with the name Yuma after everything. Cuz he didn't remember his original name to fall back on. He could've been Number One for as long as he could remember for all we know!
Maybe he was so busy trying to run the whole WDO that he didn't even pay much mind to the experiments? Could've just agreed to shut them up without knowing what he was getting in to. Makoto really drove it in to the mud how horrible of a person Number One was but how can we be sure that's an objective fact and not completely opinion driven?
I'm like actually really curious what other's perspectives on this could be. Again, I don't know much about the rain code fandom's age headcannons but it's pretty obvious to me at least that Yuma's on the younger end of the cast- (And by extension, Makoto too-)
Maybe I'll fact check myself when I have the time- either way, it's an interesting AU idea at the very least. I'll probably delete the writing portion of this post if it turns out I'm horrendously wrong-
Its probably gunna turn out that Yuma's in his mid 30s or 40s and suffers from baby face syndrome or something cringe fail like that lmfao-
So. Yeah. That's all just a theory (minus most of the fact checking) A GAME THEORY- Thanks for reading! :D
#raincode#master detective archives: rain code#fanart#raincode yuma#ramblings#headcanon#theory crafting#au idea#long post#potential hot take?#please someone take my phone away#im probably wrong#lol#silly little guy#I'll write the fanfic if nobody else does

story time! hey. you know how i got into lolrpf? it's kinda crazy.
so i was always a twitch watcher, casual esports watcher sometimes, kinda sad there was no "fandom" as i know it that i could participate in. i watched trackmania (2020) so shoutout to those who are Aware. one day, late in the year 2023 when tumblr was posting those "year in review" posts, i looked at the reblogs of the one of the top ships. my main f1 ship (lestappen) had made it on the list, which is fucking crazy for a sports ship. anyway. uh. in the reblogs was hexburn, tagging something like a win for lestappen is a win for us or something to do with rpf and esports and whatever. i don't quite remember.
anyway, i checked out their blog, and lo and behold i'd actually found an esports blog, something i wasn't quite sure existed. i sent an ask i don't remember asking about it because i was so ecstatic :3 so yeah i got determined to become invested in this, read a bunch of fic, talked to people as much as i could to learn about how lol worked. honestly it was also the first time i'd interacted like i do now.
the first game i think i ever watched was worlds 2023 finals. i had 0 clue what was going on. the first mechanic i learned was flashing, as casters would call out flashes and i'd notice the yellow clouds. after i learned about the season 14 changes, i'd decided not to watch any more of worlds because i wanted to come into the game without any preconceived ideas of how season 13 worked i guess?
and now i'm here :> honestly its kinda a dream come true, i'd only ever hoped for an esports fandom and stupid gamer blorbos and streamers...

Fanfic Writer Questions!
Thanks for the tag, @fazedlight and @thatonebirdwrites
1- How many works do you have on AO3?
I have 16
2. What's your total AO3 word count?
356,960
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Supergirl – Arrowverse/ DC Comics: Primarily Supercorp, secondarily Dansen, Brainia, and J’M’zz, and I have one AgentReign with secondary Supercorp.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
PRIDE and Prejudice – Super gay retelling of Jane Austen’s classic. Every kudos equals $1.00US to a LGBTQIA2S charity I make at the conclusion of Pride month (June) each year (teen)
Tell Me It’s Not Too Late – Post-S4, Lillian believes Supergirl is responsible for Lex’s death. Lena rushes to J’onn’s for game night, to confront Kara on her identity, only to find she’s nowhere to be found (teen)
I Believe in a Thing Called Love – Full alternate Season 6 rewrite (teen)
Wouldn’t It Be Nice – 50 First Dates movie AU (teen)
How Lost We Are – Lena is placed by her Witness Protection team (Maggie, Kelly, and Lucy) in Midvale as a flower shop owner where she meets teacher Kara and coffee/bookshop owner Jess, among others (mature)
5. Do you respond to comments?
Yes, I do usually respond, though not always right away. I enjoy chatting about my fics, so don’t hesitate to ask questions, but I don’t give out spoilers though.
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
When She’s Gone, the Darkness Comes – Oof. It was so sad I had to write a second chapter. I much prefer happy endings (teen)
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
All of them have a happy ending of some kind, or they will once they’re completed. Though there are some with happy endings like Speak Now and Tis the Damn Season. Smut. I’m talking about smut (explicit)
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Yeah, though I’ve been mostly lucky. I don’t know why people leave hate on any fics really. If you don’t like something, close the tab.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Yes. It started as a small scene here or there when it was a natural progression of the fic, but now I occasionally right full smut fics and pwp like those found here (explicit)
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
Kind of, but the characters are all from within the Arrowverse/ DC Comics universes somewhere.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I know of. I don't understand why someone would do this. Please respect writers.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Yes. I Believe in a Thing Called Love is also in Spanish Creo en una cosa llamada amor (teen)
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
I’m currently working on one with @thatonebirdwrites, though it's not published. It’s a Supercorp fic where Kara is a building inspector and when she goes to inspect Lena’s home, she meets Lena’s daughter to tells her the floor is lava, so naturally Kara has to ensure that issue gets resolved.
14. What's your all time favorite ship?
Supercorp. But I do love most wlw ships
15. What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
I intent to finish all of my active WIPs. I have some WIP ideas that may or may not ever get going, but once I start a fic, I intend to finish it.
16. What are your writing strengths?
I have no idea… I guess easter egg type stuff or like blending canon into storylines. If your a reader and there's something you think is a strength I have, let me know.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Actually writing. Words be hard. And it's hard to find the time.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
I do it sometimes, probably not well. I like to include the translation in the fic (unless the characters themselves aren’t supposed to understand until later). But I'm sure the translations aren't fully right as I only use google translate and the Kryptonian dictionary.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Supercorp. I started writing fiction in Dec 2020. Before that it was all scientific research papers for uni.
20. Favorite fic you've written?
I suppose What Has Been Lost (Mature). It was what started this crazy adventure, has been the most challenging piece, and my longest (still ongoing). It truly blends lore and characters from across the Arrowverse and DC Comics into a human world and original storyline.

18. which of your mutuals do you think is tumblr famous?
the first one that comes to mind is hanyi @ruanbaijie who i think deserves all the recognition for her absolutely amazing giffing skills ♥ she's also the sweetest so idk what's not to follow, make her even more famous if you can!
19. do you have a crush on a mutual?
nope. idk if i function like that tbh. i have some huge friend crushes tho and want to be closer with some ppl a lot! not mentioning names bc am shy haha
but i want to say that monica @stormyoceans is very important to me these days. she brightens up my days and makes my whole fandom experience so much better by simply being her enthusiastic and authentic self ♥ never change!

third one i want to mention is shannen @icouldhyperfixatehim who always manages to stand out in a positive way. we don't interact much but i cannot help but feel very giddy about their presence on my dash. they leave the best tags and every time they reblog any of my edits with their tags, they manage to make me feel like i've made it and my edit was worth the effort :'D so thank you!
20. tags?
want to tag at least @psychic-waffles @foxofninetales @hils79 @sherrymagic @srnileforme and @thitiponqs ♥ also the ones i mentioned before are free to join and anyone else who wants to do this!
#tag game#thank you a ton zey this was so much fun!!!#i hope you're doing well and having a good summer ♥

7 (3 are WiP)
2. What’s your total Ao3 word count?
186,452
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Willow! ...Technically other things too but really it's just Willow with playful skins.
4. What are your top five fics by kudos?
Red Embers: dark alternate future AU, resistance fighters against the Wyrm's tyranny, grim & gritty
Like Constellations, a Million Years Away: sprawling mecha sci-fi AU set in the world of the Lancer tabletop roleplaying game. The Questies all pilot giant mechs; four books (2 done), one focused on each of Jade, Kit, Graydon, and Elora (in that order). Posthumanism, anticolonial to the extent a fanfic can be, utopian, dramatic.
Soft Blazing Crowns: Tanthamoretober one-shot. Modern AU. Elora helps Jade with a sexy photoshoot for a gift for Kit.
Full: (E-rated) Tanthamoretober one-shot. Modern AU. Straight-up smut drabble, 100 words on the dot. Extremely funny to me that this is in the top 5. :P
The Loving Hurt: Canon-set one-shot digging into the violence implied by the canon against the Bone Reavers, Scorpia's backstory, how Jade got her name. Dark, grim, not pleasant to write and in some ways probably not to read TBH. I was in A Mood!
5. Do you respond to comments?
Religiously! Sometimes it takes me a while, but I do.
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Hmmm. I mean I think it's gotta be The Loving Hurt. Like I said. Dark. Blame the show's writers, I do. :P
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Gonna resist the temptation to say Full and instead say I think that it'll probably be Flawless Five vol. 1 when it's finished in a few weeks!
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Not so far!
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
The only thing I'd consider smut is Full. Otherwise, not anywhere that you can see. ;)
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
No true crossovers, though Like Constellations is set (loosely) in the Lancer Universe.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
I don't think so! They're too weird!
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
No but I'd be so honored.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Nope!
14. What’s your all-time favorite ship?
I am a Tanthamore diehard, what can I say.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
If you'd asked me recently I'd probably have said "all of them." Fortunately I'm feeling a little better lately! I hope to finish all of the current ones; Constellations is a slow, weighty project, F5 I hope to have done very shortly, Embers...we'll figure that out after F5.
16. What are your writing strengths?
I think I'm pretty good at dialogue, and I'm decent though not incredible at humor (especially character-based humor). I'm also a decent mimic - though this can feel a little clunky sometimes, I think I'm able to adjust my voice pretty easily to suit a situation, genre, or style. My unhinged and unpopular fic Excerpts from a new translation... is a pretty good example of that, lol. And on that note: I have a lot of fun with wacky metatextual stuff.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Taking the wacky meta stuff too far; not being bold enough in straying from the established character arcs/plots in canon; I don't think I'm great at writing really juicy interiority. Starting very large projects that will take forever to finish. ':)
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
I'm comfortable enough in Spanish to write simple dialogue in that language. I've done one line in Latin (which I'm comfortable with since it's functionally a dead language) and made up some words in a conlang for Constellations. Wouldn't try anything via Google Translate though.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Willow! At least if we count conscious fanfiction. If we're going back to the Days of Yore probably Animorphs when I was a wee one.
20. Favourite fic you’ve written?
Difficult to pick...but Like Constellations is the baby, the one I'll finish come hell or high water (I hope). On the other hand, Flawless Five is probably the most fun (to write, and maybe to read if you like that sort of thing) and Red Embers is the one that in many ways I find most exciting. Like I said - hard to choose!

Yes, it's that time again. As an oversized turkey thaws in your fridge and Mariah Carey starts doing her vocal warm ups, it's time to think about gifting something special to those you love.
Why not give the fanfic lover in your life a custom written fanfiction designed and starring Them?!
That's right, I'm opening up my commissions for a limited time this holiday season!
Imagine the joy on your bestie's face as they read about riding in the Impala with Dean and singing along to their favorite song! The magical feeling they'll get when Bucky rescues them and his prickly exterior softens at their touch... Or hell- get one for yourself and read the story you've always dreamed about but couldn't find ;)
So many possibilities and stories to tell!
Read on for more info and please, reblog to spread the word. <3
How does it work?
You send me a message and we discuss what type of story you'd like. If I think I can do it properly for you- it's a go!
You provide details about the character (you, someone else, multiples). Stories can be OFC, Actual People, or Reader Insert.
You leave me alone for a few days and when I return, you'll get a PDF file of your fic (usually including custom art) emailed right to you ready for gifting!
What fandoms are you writing for lately?
Any fandom can be negotiated provided I am familiar with it and feel like I would do the details justice. Ex: I've watched football, but I'm not gonna write a great football story bc I just don't get it. ;)
Fandoms I have written for and am comfy with:
Supernatural, Supernatural RPF (Mostly all ships!)
The Boys, The Boys RPF
The Walking Dead, TWD RPF
Marvel (Cap, Bucky, Thor, Wanda, Sam), Marvel RPF (Evans & Stan)
Criminal Minds
The Hunger Games
The Magicians (Ships too!)
The Winchesters, The Winchesters RPF
Daisy Jones & The Six (Billy Dunne)
Doctor Who (NuWho, minus 13)
Random RPF Actors/Singers
What Kind of Story Can You Do?
Anything. No, wait. I'm afraid you don't believe me. I mean... ANY T H I N G. You want hardcore smut that boarders on problematic? I'm in. You want the fluffiest fluff that ever fluffed and would make Hallmark movies cringe? I got you. Angst? Dark stuff? General? Literally Anything you want. I only have one or two things I'm not comfortable with but that can all be discussed in private, and honestly, after almost 8 years doing this, no one's ever come close to asking for them so you're 1000% good to ask for whatever.
What's the bottom line here?
Well, your story, which will be anywhere from 1,000 - 20,000 words depending on how wordy I get, will be a flat rate of $20. This includes my full attention to your story from start to finish, accompanying art, specific detail inclusion, and an emailed PDF file that you can print out or delete, or whatever you want. It's yours.
I do not write for word counts, only the story. If your complete story can be told in 1k words, that's great. If it takes another 40,000 and we end up with a novel, that's great for you and I won't charge you any more for it! I'm more worried about giving you the best story I can than worrying about word counts.
Commissions are open now until Christmas Eve Eve (Dec 23, 2023).
I will only take FIVE commissions at any time, so best to get to me first. First come, first serve, then I go down the line.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask me. I'm not scary.
You can also check out my Tumblr Masterlist for examples of my work incase you're unsure. And... just a reminder, Patrons get a discount!
Much love and wishes for an awesome end of the year,
Beka <3

20 questions for writers
under the cut. Thanks to @everybodyknows-everybodydies for tagging🖤
Tagging back: @nuwanders @jiubilant @ervona @ehlnofay @druidx @blossom-adventures @sylvienerevarine @throughtrialbyfire @da3drat no pressure
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
Five
2. What's your total AO3 word count?
198327
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Just elder scrolls. I have a feeling that's gonna be it for me. I've been tempted to write stardew valley fic lately which would perhaps be classed as "crack" (I know what that is in theory but the way people use it makes no sense to me) but I took a cursory look at the tag and I don't think the stardew valley fandom is ready for a ray fic lmao
4. What are your top five fics by kudos?
Well. I have five.
5. Do you respond to comments?
I try 🫠 it haunts me how often I've left my beloved mutuals on read..... but if that's u and I did, I am telepathically beaming this: !!!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Making out sloppy style etc etc
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
lol. lmao even
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
.....within AO3 I guess it's "Morning" but also that's set at a refugee camp? I will say the skyrim story will have a more peaceful ending but up until now fic writing has been an outlet for my thwarted rage and covid brain damage soooo
8. Do you get hate on fics?
I mean this is generally a culture of positive feedback. Someone did yell at me once for hitting martin septim with the transgender beam which is a level of no-life-havin loserdom which could be classed as "hate" but came off as pure cope and seethe
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
I really bristle at the word smut sorry its too cutesy. I was a prodomme for seven years I don't do euphemisms lol. I wrote a sex scene into IITT to see how I felt about writing sex scenes. I learned that I am only interested in writing them if they serve specific functions. I have absolutely zero judgment toward anyone who wants to write about fuckin and suckin, that's just not why I'm here
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
No but recently my household watched game of thrones together and my bf and his brother were cracking jokes like what if one of these medieval characters had a gundam. Neither of them read fic so I was like don't be too entertained by yourselves. I bet that has been written. looked it up on ao3 and sure as shit
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
I'm not gonna lie I did find a fic where someone very obviously ripped me off but I don't wanna call them out. One specific instance where they bit my style was so clumsily applied as to be obvious, but their prose in general was fantastic so like. who care.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Not as far as I know but that would make me holler
13. Have you ever co-written a fic?
Nope. I'm not opposed to the idea but it's hard to imagine how I'd do this given my process. I think I'd be pretty difficult to work with
14. What's your all-time favorite ship?
?!? I dunno I don't have one. I put a lot of effort into writing martinhok but I could not say that one, due to how overwhelmingly heterosexual the tag is. I'm sorry but can everyone who's not a faggot please pipe down
15. What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
I have my moments with the skyrim wip. I've signed myself up for something pretty complicated and challenging but I also learned that I can finish things so I'm not really worried about it. The fact of the matter is: I do not care if this is good. It matters that it is done so I can move on with my life. If parts of it are boring and overlong that's yalls problem
16. What are your writing strengths?
I get a lot of compliments on my worldbuilding. I do think a lot about the minutiae of material culture and think I have a talent for incorporating detail in engaging ways
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
I'm a cornball. This is a corny activity. I don't really care because I'm doing it for free. Enjoy the unsolicited view into an internet stranger's terrible psyche
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
I try to apply with a light hand. I'm a dumbass sheltered American and I can mostly make myself understood in a Spanish-speaking country but that's about it. I like playing around with language and the idea of multilingual societies matters to me so I include it, but I'm not a linguist so I try to work within my limits. Whether I am successful at this is up to others.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Elder scrolls. Never felt compelled until i spent a winter playing oblivion and went wow this game has an incredibly bleak narrative behind a silly aesthetic. Oops now I'm in a lore pit
20. Favorite fic you've written?
The Nature of Fire is my best prose hands down. I'm gonna be real with y'all I am desperate for people to read it. It is genuinely the best I can do at this point and if you like what I've done so far, well, whatever u read sucks compared to this fic.

20 Questions for Fic Writers Tag Game
@whetstonefires tagged me! 17 was missing, and I searched for the meme and found one that had a question 17, so it's back!
1. how many works do you have on AO3?
256! But that's going back 18 years, so it's an average of a little over 14 fics per year.
2. what’s your total AO3 word count?
1,245,329. Which works out to an average of 4900 words per fic, or 69k words/year. Respectable, solid, but I know a lot of people who've written more.
Oh! But there are a couple of podfics in there, which probably skews the words-per-work a bit.
3. what fandoms do you write for?
Uh. A quick count gives me 112 fandoms on my AO3 page, so ... a lot. I regularly write for Yuletide, and I'm polyfannish, so. A lot. I used to be big into Stargate SG-1, so I've written a lot of that but not recently. Other top fandoms include Battlestar Galactica, Buffy, various DC fandoms, various Star Trek and Star Wars fandoms, Babylon 5, Terminator (especially the Sarah Connor Chronicles), the Vorkosiverse, the Goblin Emperor, and Rivers of London.
4. what are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Past Lives (a stalled WIP that is a Star Wars time travel fixit starring Finn)
Lieutenant Bennet's Visit (Temeraire/P&P with Bennet as an aviator)
Darcy's Surprise (sequel to the above fic)
Revenge of the Zillo Beast (Star Wars, Anakin-and-Mace-Windu Groundhog Day AU)
Far Above Rubies (P&P AU, Marry Bennet marries Mr. Collins and is quite happy)
5. do you respond to comments?
Yup! Or, at least, the ones that are more than an emoji or "second kudos!" I value those too, it's just ... what would I say?
6. what is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
I don't tend to go in for angsty endings. But, as it happens, I did write an ending lately that was fairly dark.
Fertile Ground, Battlestar Galactica, Simon only bothered to continue the fertility experiments because the others demanded it. Things are different on New Caprica. Warnings for canon-typical ... everything
7. what’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
How would one even judge? I have 256 fics, most of which have positive endings of one sort or another.
8. do you get hate on fics?
Not really? Or, at least, it's probably happened sometime in the last 18 years, but I just deleted it and forgot about it. I am very lucky, I know other writers who've gone through hell.
9. do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Nope!
10. do you write crossovers?
I love crossovers! AO3 thinks I have 38, but a few of those aren't really crossovers, just different corners of the same universe, and one of them is the work that combines most of my Twisting the Hellmouth crossover drabbles into one drabble collection. (The ones where I had several drabbles in a sequence to tell a longer story, I separated out to each be their own fic.) Anyway, it averages out to about two a year, although I have not written as many in the last few years as I did earlier in my fic writing career. Most recently, I have:
A Spy on the Golden State Train (Miss Fisher/Agent Carter gen)
Undiscovered Stars (Star Trek/Star Wars, Lando Calrissian/James T. Kirk)
11. have you ever had a fic stolen?
Oh, sure, there have been a couple of times people have put some of my fics on those skeevy for-profit websites that pop up every now and again.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Yes! Twice! Both times into Russian. Though oddly enough, none of my Vorkosiverse fics have been translated into Russian. There is a very large and active Russian fandom for the Vorkosigan saga, so if I were going to predict which of my fics would be translated into Russian, it would be those. But no, the two that were translated are a DS9 fic, and a Doctor Who/Mary Poppins crossover.
Тридцать четвертое правило by Lazurit (The 34th Rule, DS9)
Завтра ветер переменится by Kollega (A Change in the Wind, DW/Mary Poppins)
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Nope!
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you will?
That's tough to answer. Does it include the ones that I abandoned, say, 15 years ago and haven't thought of since? I don't tend to post WIPs because I don't like them hanging over me.
Probably Hello, Piccadilly, Hello, Leicester Square, a Wonder Woman post-movie fic about Diana trying to figure out how to live in Man's World. I had a really great hook--they pass Diana off as a war bride--but no real idea where to go from there. Which is why it stalled out after only two chapters.
16. What are your writing strengths?
Worldbuilding, probably.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Endings and action. I am not good at writing either of them. The thing I am most likely to need a beta's help with is whether or not an ending feels like an ending or if I need to wrap things up better, and if so, what do I need to do to wrap things up. And action bores me, and it's really hard to write something that bores you, so I try to avoid needing to write it.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
I don't speak any other languages, so I wouldn't do it! Unless maybe I had someone who had already volunteered to translate for me.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Stargate SG-1! It was a spitefic that I wrote because I was so annoyed by all the Broca AUs. "The Broca Divide" was an episode where they all turn into cavepeople, and as part of it Sam Carter kisses her commanding officer, Jack O'Neill, who then takes her to the infirmary before succumbing to the infection himself. There were a ton of fics about that where they have sex instead and she gets pregnant, and afterwards she keeps the baby and they get married and everything is fine and the team stays together and nobody cares about fraternization or anything.
(There were a LOT of Sam/Jack fics out there where like the President or whoever would call them up and say "oh, you're in love? awesome! we'll just waive all the regulations about having a romantic relationship with someone in your chain of command because you're so extra special and awesome. Which really annoyed me.)
Anyway, I got annoyed enough to write a fic where they sleep together as cavepeople and she gets pregnant and things are not fine, actually, there are consequences to it.
20. Favourite fic you’ve written?
lol
I can never figure out my favorite anything. If you give me five options, I could maybe narrow it down to the top two. Out of 256? You have got to be kidding me.
Tagging @tielan, @alexseanchai, @mihrsuri, @birdylion, @anghraine
